The LAPD are overwhelmed with cases. I was hit by a drunk driver several years ago and the suspect ran off before the cops showed up. This was at 2 in the morning. It took them almost 2 hours to get to the scene. When they did they told me that chances were good nothing would happen to the guy because I didn’t die, even though it was a felony hit and run. If the guy had stayed at the scene he would have gotten into more trouble for being drunk, so being the scumbag he was he ran off, knowing full well he was avoiding a jail sentence by doing so. He had obviously done that sort of thing before. LA is just way too big with way too few cops on the streets. It’s a disgrace. This is why they never seem to catch the bad guys and why it’s like the wild west out here, because it literally is. And then we have the Terminator as our governor who should be increasing funding for police and education but instead has taken money out of the system in these important areas. California has never been in such a mess. Serves the idiots right who voted for an idiot actor and ousted Grey Davis who had a brain in his head at least. Turns out the reasons for Gray Davis being ousted didn’t have anything to do with what he did, it was a scam the Bush administration pulled on CA during his administration.

Like her family, I am outraged at the LAPD/NOHO police. This is our neighborhood & several of us have called & spoke with police on countless occasions about the abnormal & sketchy behavior always prevalent on both Hortense & Kling Streets. Police still don’t have a clue!!
If they do not catch the person(s) responsible for this crime, the scum responsible will surely face God’s wrath. If the scum are not caught by the ineffective police & come back near this neighborhood, they’d definitely better think twice.
The Valley Village Neighborhood Watch will not hesitate to put “Operation Vigilante Justice” into effect.

Scoop, I didnt put this in the article, but the fax said she was murdered on February 28th. I could not confirm that, so I left it out.

I am under the impression something happened in the car, and that the other kid helped the suspect clean up. The family did not know she missing that I know of until Mar.3rd; I suspect she was already dead.

However, your point is well taken that time was of the essence in any case, as we all know degredation of evidence is instant.

I’m willing to bet the fax came from the suspects family.
