Casey/Caylee Anthony Case: Grams Shirley Plesea is our HERO

Posted by BOC Staff | Casey Anthony,Caylee Anthony Case,Jose Baez,Murdered,Rick Plesea,Shirley Plesea | Monday 23 March 2009 12:00 pm

Orlando, FL– Finally, a relative of murdered 34 month old Caylee Anthony that I believe. Shirley Plesea, maternal Grandmother to Casey Anthony, Interview with Orange County Sheriff’s Office was made public last Friday.

If you were going to try to skate through without reading it yourself, and just count on blinkoncrime or other writers to give you the hi lights, don’t.

I only hope at some point we get to hear the audio. It is the first piece of discovery evidence I actually pseudo enjoyed reading as much as one can knowing it is evidence in a murder case of a baby.

If Only Gramma Shirley Raised Casey

One wonders if things could have been different if Shirley had raised Casey instead of Cindy. It certainly seemed that way from her interview. This is actually the second interview OCSO had with Mrs. Plesea; she was first interviewed in July in Orange County.

In her first interview, at Mt.Dora with detectives Kraubetz and Hempfield on July 22, you will note Gram Plesea never mentions a word about Casey stealing from her.

When she is asked if she was aware if there was anything going on with Casey and she discussed it with Cindy, she replied “I asked her but she did not want to talk about– too personal.” She adds “I love her but I am apprehensive.” (regarding Casey)

Rick Plesea Nouveau Blogger

There is little doubt that if Rick Plesea, Cindy Anthony’s brother, had not become so frustrated with the media coverage of Casey and his family and the backlash his family was experiencing as a result, we may never have known a significant amount of information that will contribute to the prosecutions case against Casey Anthony.

It was clear, as Lead Detective Yuri Melich says specifically to Mrs. Plesea, that Cindy went into hyper-hide mode the second Casey was arrested and did not want John Q Public or Law Enforcement to know the level of deception and egregious un-mommy-like behavior this girl was involved in. She was far more concerned with screaming from her front lawn to us:

“Get off your assess and go find my granddaughter.” What are you doing, what is the media doing? Im not here to talk about Casey Im here to keep Caylee’s face out there.”

Well Cindy, congratulations to you, your scotts turfbuilder pep lash worked.

You ticked off your brother to the point he hit the web waves and voila, the OCSO hits pay dirt on the things you know will ultimately sink your daughter in the death of your granddaughter. Kudos to Gram Plesea and Rick Plesea for putting Caylee first.

Finally, a family member that steps up to plate for Caylee.

  2. I agree Blink….KUDOS to Gramma Plesea and Rick!! I have to say I love Shirley…..her honesty is like a breath of fresh air in this case.
Lord knows we all need it!

I feel so bad for Shirley, Rick and his other brothers. It’s sad enough to think someone in your family would be capable of fatally harming an innocent baby, but how embarrassing to have another family member act angry and delusional when the writing is on the wall and lash out at the media, LE and anyone else who didn’t think transforming Casey from Monster to Martyr was the least bit credible.

I know that Cindy was the worst kind of enabler to that girl, but I can’t help but think that whatever kind of parenting she had, it might only have somewhat delayed the computer searches for household weapons and neck breaking. Cindy as a mom was like throwing gasoline on Casey’s fire, but I still think she would have been a “spiteful little bitch” in any environment. And for that, I’m glad that Shirley didn’t raise her. Because she was apparently powerless in preventing the delusional narcissist she did raise from wreaking havoc. And Casey just seems much more deadly than Cindy to me.

I believe Shirley is on the witness list, so we may get to hear her after all. I hope she is able to take the stand and testify for the most helpless member of that family, and the one who deserves it most, the victim Caylee.

Blink— Have you read the bundle of emails exchanged between Shirley Plesea and her sister?

  5. Lisa says:

BLINK– Regarding Shirley Plesea’s LE interview… You said,”I only hope at some point we get to hear the audio”. There is a 20min/2 part audio available on YouTube of one of her two LE interviews. I imagine it’s the first, given the upload date, so you may have already heard it. Anyway, for tracking purposes it was Uploaded March 16th by NifterMedia. I’m not certain it is the complete interview. Nonetheless… Interesting to put a voice to the written word.

Lisa, thank you I have heard that. I really want to hear the second one with that cat, fumbling through the dark, John Allen directing the electric guy, etc.

AT LONG LAST! Thank God for Grandma. Had Cindy LISTENED to her, Caylee would likely STILL BE ALIVE and the entire nation would have been SPARED this endless NIGHTMARE. Casey was ENABLED her entire WORTHLESS life and the spoiled pathological LIAR sociopath she grew in was the direct result of Cindy and George letting this female get away with … murder!
And STILL they maintain, “CASEY DESERVES LOVE, CASEY DESERVES SUPPORT ….” WHAT Casey should have gotten long ago was TOUGH LOVE — a kick in the behind and a day of RECKONING. She’s finally get her day but it came AT the cost of Caylee. Cindy, George, Casey, Lee ALL failed that angel. At least Caylee didn’t have to LIVE A LIFETIME trying to UNDO the harm caused by THAT FAMILY.

  7. Victoria says:

It all comes down to wisdom of the ages. Shirley can sure acknowledge that Casey was indeed, a bad seed. She’s able to focus on what deserves attention, and it’s not covering for a murderer.

  8. Kleat says:

Lisa, there’s a good point– the emails that went back a long time as a regular daily communication about everyday life. That could say a lot about what was going on with Casey and the family over the past recent years and give maybe some dates and facts of things going on. And this would be a record well before the summer of 2008.

  9. Lisa says:

Well Kleat — I agree. There were only 16 emails between Mrs. Plesea and her sister. I’m certain LE could retrieve earlier email as Shirley eluded to the fact that she prints out all her email to and from her sister. They do Kleat, only encompass the summer. Still… very enlightening. As with so much of the case information released to the public; the letters are very personal and never meant for public consumption. I feel guilty and ashamedly voyeuristic reading private communique. (notice it didn’t stop me from reading them :p)They are dated from June 5th to July 15th. The bulk of each lengthy letter is small talk. “Everday Life” as you said Kleat. Basically a “coffee chat”. But each and every dated letter has at least one healthy paragraph pertaining to Cindy and the family. The volume of Cindy/Casey talk increased with each progressive letter. Cindy may not have been forthcoming to her concerned Mother, BUT, Shirley clearly didn’t miss much!

Hands down, the best assessment of what was going on in this family after Caylee’s disappearance can be found in the August email exchanges between Shirley and her sister that were released in a previous doc dump. (With the bonus of cat activity updates, and the temperature at the time.)

Now Diane B, you know better than to come over and not bring a link to share :) Blink

Great work Blink! After reading your blog along with countless other docs regarding this case, I’ve come to a conclusion about Cindy. I’m not so sure Cindy is in denial about Casey’s involvement in Caylee’s death. Considering that Cindy has been called a control freak who wears the pants in the family, I’d say she does just about anything to ‘control’ the image of this family. She isn’t stupid. She at the very least suspects her daughter. It’s ‘text book’ Cindy to want to manipulate these situations to favour her own personal image. Casey will not make a mockery of her! George will not make a mockery of her! This woman will NOT be considered a failure in anyone’s eyes! The saying that ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’ couldn’t be more true in this case. If Casey is a narcassistic pathological liar, it only deems appropriate to consider that Cindy is too. We’re looking at two identical personalities who approach conceit and vanity in different ways. views this as being about herself. Does this make any sense?

Thank you for sharing with us!

Hi Blink… Casey should take a good look at yet another true victim that she is responsible for.

Shirley comes off strong but as she states she bawls her head off when no one is around. I hope that in the dusk of this devoted women’s life that she does not have to take the stand to help send her child’s child to prison for life. What a horror to have to live through. I would think LE would use her only in a pinch. Yes? No?

The light bulbs blew when a fuse blew and that was the smell she was apologizing for. I think she is a clean housewife like Cindy as well thats why she was upset to have strangers in her home with an electrical smell.

  17. no excuses says:

Cindy is just as guilty, so is George. They both knew how their daughter was and the threats against everyone in that family i’m sure was on a daily basis if Casey was “Crossed” in any sort of way.
Casey did say it all when she said she was a spiteful bitch. They continue to send CAsey money and enable her. It’s sick sick sick!!! They also need to be charged as they did not protect Caylee from Casey. They all knew she was a nutcase! Poor excuse for grandparents!

  18. no excuses says:

The grandparents do not want to admit to themselves they raised a murderer. Of Course once again, all about them!

  19. Robin D. says:

Something has to come out of this case that helps the most innocent victims like Caylee Anthony from DEATH. I would like to know if anyone is considering starting a group and helping change legislation regarding grandparents who are often stuck with adult children like Casey Anthony? it’s embarssing and often they don’t know what to do out of fear of losing the child. from my personal experience I’ve seen many parents coming out of the wood work admitting they to have an adult child like Casey Anthony and their grandchildren need PROTECTION!I for one would join that group in a heart beat. Many, Many grandparents are often left with their grandchildren and are afraid to tell the truth because the children will be punished through the system because their parent(s) are ill equipped from raising their children. They use the children to torture the grandparents and those childen often end up DEAD. Can anyone see why we need to change the laws to help these children?? If you know of anyone please email me at edited by Blink, Robin, I dont allow people to post emails on here that I cannot verify, if anyone wants to get in touch with her, comment accordingly and I will facillitate. Unfortunately in this case, as you point out yourself, there are more charlatans than people, not saying that is the case here, but the readers come first here.

I feel for the extended family.
I hope the great-grandparents can make it though all this.
Kudos to Rick for all he tried to do to help his sister see the light.
    So very very sad.

    HEY CASEY,
HOW COME YOU JUST DIDN’T GIVE YOUR LITTLE BABY A BATH TO PUT HER TO SLEEP. BATHS ALWAYS WORKED ON MY KIDS INCLUDING MY 2 YEAR OLD BABY GIRL. IT IS 6PM RIGHT NOW SHE JUST HAD BATH AND IS FAST ASLEEP. SHE WILL SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT. YOU REALLY HAVE HURT ALOT OF PEOPLE. AND I THINK YOU DESERVE WHATS COMMING TO YOU. HOPEFULLY YOUR FAMILY WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY INVOLVEMENT LIKE TAMPERING AND COVERING UP EVIDENCE. I SO WISH THOUGH THAT YOUR PARENTS TOOK THIS CHILD AWAY FROM YOUR NASTY SELF BECAUSE SHE WOULD PROBABLY BE ALIVE TODAY. REST IN PEACE CASEY ANTHONY. I CANT WAIT.
