Haleigh Cummings Case: Gramma Neves Snakes and Hogpens

Satsuma, FL– Did Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings Gram try to set up William “Cobra” Staubs by leading him into a remote area of the woods about a mile from her son Ron Cummings home? Teresa Neves, is the grandmother of Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings, missing from her Satsuma home since February 10, 2009

In the most bizarre video footage yet, captured by artharris.com, Teresa Neves appears to brazenly lead Cobra and his team into a backwoods area resmebling a scene out of deliverance.

Ms. Neves was sobbing when she called Cobra Staubs on his cell phone from her red pickup truck and asked him to meet her at the Citgo Sation on 17. She told him she had been by herself searching out there for the past 4 hours.

..”I was just walking and I got lost.. there was a trailer and it sounded like a squeaking door from deep in the woods..”

Cobra and his son Matthew, attempted to locate the owner of the trailer by knocking on the open door and calling out “Investigations Here, Anyone home?”

As they began wondering into the woods looking for clues, they abruptly lost Neves and could not locate her. Deep within the woods they had never been in, Staubs gets a call on his cell. It’s Neves.

..” Where you at.. You on the Road? You ran into a six foot  Moccasin..? Who did you all up and leave us out in the woods, was this part of the plan?

As Cobra and son headed towards the road, they ran into a former marine who was local. He stated that what Neves may have thought was underground prisons was his innocent hog pens.

It appeared that Ms. Neves, who works as a dispatcher for the Sheriff’s Office was wearing flip flops when she met up with Cobra and would not be appropriate or footwear one would be sporting to go trouncing through the brush and soggy ground for 4 hours. Cobra thinks she set him up. For what purpose, remains to be seen.

It was later discovered that the area had been searched three times previously with 168 officers, a fact that Ms. Neves would have been aware of.

Another very odd character in an odd chapter in a very strange book.

    Why would grandma do that?

  4. dddeerma says:

Well, thank God. Now there is no longer a single sympathetic character in this whole story. If Grandma is playing fast and loose with the truth, just like Ron and Misty, I no longer feel sorry for her or any of these brain dead hillbillies. If only Haleigh were just a little older, we could hope that she had deliberately run away from this loony bin full of relatives. Can Cobra make out a complaint so that this behavior gets officially added into the story?

  5. Sandra says:

As I said before, I think she is trying to cover for her boy.

  6. new says:

I can relate. Did you see how she was crying? My child went missing and after working 7 to 3pm I would drive around until three in the morning looking for her, miles from my home in many bad neighborhoods. I did this for months. I would stand and listen by patio doors at two in the morning because I would think I heard her voice. The anxiety of a missing child will have you doing things you never thought yourself capable of. It is a feeling of helpless desperation and you really do crazy dangerous things. My child was found.

You loose a family member to the boogie man you go nuts too.

  8. Scoop says:

Maybe Grandma knows something, but doesn’t want to be the one to discover it… furthering herself from the light of suspicion. No doubt there will soon be an arrest in this case.

Great, another family playing games. At least no one in the woods asked COBRA whether he had a “purdy” mouth. UNREAL!!!

LOl, not so innocent, I know who you are, lol..

  11. dddeerma says:

Blink, pardon me for asking a Leonard Padilla on NG question. The old goat just claimed that Kronk’s girlfriend works at the jail where Casey Anthony is held, and that the girlfriend told Kronk she overheard a Baez conversation about where Caylee’s body is. Is there any element of truth in this? and if so, what are the complications for the prosecution? This seems really bad, but I am not a lawyer.

I know Leonard. I also know that he has said and done alot for media attention that I do not agree with. There is a zero percent possibility that anyone overheard Casey telling Baez where Caylee was at the jail. No way.

  12. Felicity says:

Cobra is a whiner. He is ALWAYS trying to make himself “look good” in the situations he deals with. Who is he trying to impress? It’s not working.

For those of us who have seen Mrs. Neves from the very beginning, it is VERY CLEAR that she is truly HEARTBROKEN over Haleigh. It is so obvious that she loves this child deeply. She doesn’t deserve this crap from THE BIG BAD COBRA! He’s nothing but a self-serving blowhard that will say or do anything to make himself look good.

  13. Felicity says:

He needs to call himself GARDEN SNAKE…not Cobra! He’d get the “vapors” and faint if he saw a real Cobra!

  14. Donna Sue says:

I think however Cobra is coming across it is for the good, he is doing something, he is trying to help and if that gives him a big head then so be it….As far as Mrs, Neves goes, I dont doubt that she is heartbroken, but her loyalties are all messsed up, this about Haleigh and she herself knows that Ronald is or was a drug dealer, and that Mistie is a little runaround wanna be grown, loose thing…. Is this girl suppose to be more important than her own Granddaughter? She knows there are descrepacies in this girls story, she should call her on that for Haleighs sake, make her exspain herself, make her tell the truth about what happened that night no matter how bad it is….

  22. Roxanne says:

I have felt all along that Ms Neves is hiding something she knows about. I believe something happened before Ronald Cummings left for work and his mother knows all about it. That is why they keep throwing out all these red herrings like Cobra and Misty’s pedofile cousin.

  23. Prevost1580 says:

Skerry! between Caylee & Haliegh, I do not know which child had it worse.

I agree that Ronald is an abuser. Drugs and controlling very, very, young! teenage girls. To the point of knocking them up for even more control and his ego problems.

Bac to Haliegh, Misty was the last one to see her… and I think that granny & Ronald are covering for Misty. Kids are a dime a dozen to these peeps.

  24. cheryl says:

if the grandma loved Haleigh so much, why wasn’t she babysitting? You know she knew all about Misty’s age and lifestyle. Would you want your grandchild in the care of a teenager coming off a 3 day binge? also, why would a single parent of 2 children, work nights? He didn’t even bother finding decent child care. Has it been verified by the police that Haleigh was seen in the days leading up to her disappearance? what about while Ron was at work? I know his family is backing his story, but have the police confirmed it? It seems their story is all about giving Ron an alibi. Maybe they were told the police were checking on an earlier time, and THAT’s why Ron’s grandmother later claimed to have seen Haleigh while he was at work? I’m really confused about witnesses and times. I do believe that Ron is used to his mother getting his butt out of a sling and he seems confident that it’ll work again. This is all just my oppinion, of course, based on very little information.

  25. cheryl says:

also, did Misty ever get an attorney? I think it’s possible that Ron and his mother have convinced her that she shouldn’t-knowing full well that it’s to her disservice. It seems from his past dealings with Crystal, that he wants to keep the women in his life at a huge legal disadvantage-while all the while, covering his own hide.

  26. Prevost1580 says:

It comes down to the teenage bride,Misty & only Misty. Her old man left his minor children with her. Misty was the last person to See Haliegh. Ronald had to marry Misty in a hurry because NG recommended it. oops! well… it’s true. NG has already sided with Ronald and she kept blabbing about how if married, they could not testify against each other.

As for granny, methinks she knows a lot more than she lets on. I bet spindy Anthony & granny Cummings chat, often.

  27. Red Ranger says:

Someone cannot be compelled to testify against their spouse. They can, however, do so on a volunteer basis. I keep seeing people say that someone cannot testify against their spouse and that is false. They can if they choose to do so. Keep this in mind next time you are pounding on your hubby. He can testify against you.

I reckon I’m just funning about the hubby thing.

  28. suthrnqt says:

Sorry guys…..but spouses are compelled to testify when it involves a child in the State of Florida. Also, anything that occured before the marriage is fair game.

  29. Pat says:

I’m a grandma too & maybe she heard noises & just couldn’t let it go until she checked it out. I wouldn’t let it go either…remember how many times the woods were searched for Caylee? If Misty did sneak out that night OR maybe she had friends over–it is possible that someone slipped something in Misty’s beverage or if she was buying/using drugs, maybe tampered with. That would explain Misty’s confusion with the time. She could have been given something to knock her out. She may honestly not know what happened. As for the wedding, I think that was to avoid charges of rape, etc. & also the fact that she wasn’t in school. Why were her parents NOT taking care of Misty? I also think they say they passed because after the test they weren’t arrested, so maybe they think they are in the clear. Maybe Misty’s friends need to be questioned…I haven’t heard of any friends she has, but neighbors should know something. I think the entire family is innocent of harming Haleigh but IMO whoever took her, has been in that trailer before. I think alot of people are trying to turn the people involved against each other, thinking one of them may talk–but IMO they don’t have the answers. If they are drug users, SOMEONE knows who they buy from, maybe the answer is there. I know Geraldo asked about drugs, but who would admit to that on national TV? I think LE knows more than they are saying right now. Have they determined if anything else was missing in the trailer? I also read that the movie Misty put in was taken out. Was it found & checked for fingerprints?

  30. Prevost1580 says:

O.k! so NG is wrong and the newlyweds can testify against each other?!

So…. I wonder WHY? the sudden marriage? even though, Mist was f-g another guy. Probably the night,Caylee went missing! The other guy is said to be a drug dealer.

  31. M.m,Ocasio says:

Neves, Ronald Mother If She Really Loved Haleigh, She would have set both of them in the table, and speak to there minds, i feel Neves No More Than She Already Nos. Why She was out there by her self in the woods for 4 Hours. Something She Have Seen That Upset Her. Strange she called Cobra To Come and see.Than Lead Him To The Woods. Something was-up. even the Ronald mother Neves, is srange her self. her mind is going ring around, she needs to stop defending her son,if she keep doing it. it’s going to hurt her in the long run.

  32. kathy lundy says:

After reading and viewing the video with Cobra, and the grandmother, I got a terrible feeling about this scenerio. The woods, the six foot snake story, and the location about a mile from Ron’s house. Now where have we heard this story before? oh I remember! sounds like the Casey Anthony debacle doesn’t it.The woods, the snake story told by the meter man, and the location, just a short distance from the Anthony home, and this location just a mile from Ron’s house.Hmmm. My question now is, I know the woods have been searched in this area at least 3 times…but has the hogpens been searched, I know it sounds terrible but hogs eat anything, and this child’s boney remains could be in essence hiding in plain sight.

  33. Felicity says:

The scenario you mention is quiet possible. So much time has passed. I don’t think this precious child’s remains will ever be found. So many wild animals in that swampy area, including alligators and cayotes etc…

Unless someone ,who knows the truth, breaksdown and talks, this could remain a “cold case.”

  34. terieaston says:

He is so weird. Looking for publicity. Saying she was trying to get him killed? What is wrong with this man? He needs to step out of the spotlight and stop what he is doing. He is not helping. He is harming the investigation. Cobra is a joke.
The grandmother is obviously desperately searching. No matter where it is.
I feel sorry for her. I don’t know why everyone now wants to attack her.
And Kathy, you are right about the hogpens. I would be curious to know if they have been searched. Hogs are carniverous animals and will eat anything that is put into them..

  35. My opinion says:

You read my mind about the hogs Kathy. Maybe this was Grandmas way of letting Cobra know where to look.

  36. Staci says:

First of all…what I ask is…Was Ms. Neves ALONE in the woods for 4 hours??? I don’t understand that one & with flipflops on! Second of all….If I had seen a 6 foot snake..I WOULD HAVE SCREAMED!! Not one time did Ms. Neves scream, if she were so scared of the snake…why didn’t she scream??? I also agree with Donna Sue in #15…I agree, I think her loyalty is with her son! Ms. Neves took several photographs of Haleigh, of her injuries…on a day to day basis…WHY??? (Read that on artharris.com) Did she feel that MAYBE…just MAYBE the child was being abused??? I would never sit there & take pictures everyday of my children’s bruises if I KNEW where they came from!! If I was suspecting something yes I would!! So, that is a question, I feel should be answered by Ms. Neves!! JMO

    To Prevost1580,
Here is part of a transcript from the NG show.

Out to Michelle in Michigan, hi, Michelle.

MICHELLE, CALLER FROM MICHIGAN: Hi, Nancy. How are you?

GRACE: I`m good, dear, what`s your question?

MICHELLE: I was wondering now that Ron and Misty are married, can they be forced to testify against each other if there was foul play involved.

GRACE: To Marlaina Schiavo, our producer there at the crime scene, Satsuma, Florida. You know I heard it misstated, I believe, if I`m correct on the law, on the networks over the weekend. Isn`t there a caveat in Florida law? Typically husband/wife privilege. You can`t testify against each other.

But when it comes to the injury or the abuse of a child, I don`t believe the husband/wife privilege applies in Florida. Yes? No?

    SCHIAVO: Yes, Nancy, you`re correct.

    GRACE: OK.

SCHIAVO: And anything said before the marriage is admissible.

GRACE: Thank you. That was my next question, Marlaina.

So Michelle in Michigan, contrary to a lot of haters that are claiming the two got married to avoid testifying at trial, incorrect. In Florida, when it comes to the welfare of a child, you can`t claim marital privilege.

Now the whole thing about marrying a 17-year-old has come up repeatedly. You know what? That`s a whole another kettle of fish to fry, all right? Let`s worry about bringing Haleigh home first. Then we can address the teen marriage.

    http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0903/16/ng.01.html

    NG was correct.

Blink ROCKS!!! Thanks for the news . . .

  39. They, the cummings clan are all in on this, its their way.

  40. Nancy, what you tend to forget is that Ron and misty are not that smart and Ron thought by marrying her he would be home free. He was wrong for thinking this. He does however escape stagetory rape charges now. I did my own snooping. I have been saying that Misty was not home that night, and this goes back to Feb 11th or 12th when I said it. She was stoned, and eventually did come home proping that door so the children didn’t wake up but we now know that they did. She was being used by Greg and yes she was so out of it she never noticed the friend of Greg, walking passed her to grab Haleigh. The two were getting back at Ron for ripping them off. His tears are croc tears and his story of being at work is to set up his alibi. Ron, Misty, Granny, that whole clan are hiding something and like Caylee, they want to get Haleigh back themselves. Nancy, you may trust what I say, or not. I have broken every lead in this story thus far and will keep the presures on Misty until she cracks.

Bob- I dont even know who you are. What do you mean you have broken every lead in this case? I would say there are a few of us that might call bs.
    Blink

  41. Daphne Briggs says:

Hey why is the video pulled it says it can’t be veiwed no longer available whats up with this Blink??

    Which video?

  42. new says:

Was it Cobra that found a bloody rusted sheet in the woods? I was reading about maggots because of the Anthony case and in Fordia heat if the body was in the elements in this warm humid enviorment it could be a skeleton with in a five to ten day period. They usually start in the eyes and mouth. Was very interesting the stages of larva development. Never heard that about hogs before. And there is certianly a stink in a hog pen. I believe the grandmother was grasping at straws.

  43. Jackie says:

I’t my believe that this whole bunch are all such stupid, ignorant people, none with IQ’s more than about 70, and they have no respect for the laws, so it’s no telling what happened to the child. It is hard for the police to deal with sheer ignorance and criminals to boot, you can’t tell if they’re lying or just stupid.

  44. new says:

I question the motivation of Cobra. I think he says inappropiate sensational remarks. If I was the grandmother he would have been the last person I would call. If she had a hunch she should have called the Police. Cobra is just another 15 minute of fame guy looking for new clients because of this cases TV exposure. The Parental mothers Lawyer was Cobras wifes Lawyer for their divorce. They have been in contact since. Some say that Cobra is trying to dig up evidence for the Custody issue. My moto is trust but verify.

  45. kathy lundy says:

It’s pretty obvious to me we really don’t know the whole story. First of all we are assuming Haleigh went missing as stated by Misty and Ron. But did she?
I know I can’t be the only one that has wondered why on earth did the grandmother find it necessary to bring the children’s clothes she stated she had washed to Ron and Misty’s trailer the night Haleigh went missing. After all we know Ron has a washer and dryer in his trailer. And, actually Misty reported she was doing laundry (to be more exact bed linen) that very night. I find it interesting in as much as Cindy Anthony also launder evidence. I know the grandmother said she saw Misty. But she didn’t mention seeing either child to my knowledge.
It makes me wonder if Ron asked his mother to check up on Misty, or if he was used his mother to alibi Misty.

Another thing that leaving me wondering is the fact two cadiver dogs hit on the garbage bin. Two cadiver dogs were wrong?…I think not. Something that belonged to a decomposing body was in that bin. When I watched as the police emptied the bin,I did not see either cadiver dog there to sniff through the garbage they removed from the bin. As I stated earlier I believe something that belonged to a decomposing body was in that bin.

BLINK thankx for all you do concerning this case and others….Is it possible that poor little one’s body may have been placed in this area so that the pigs would destroy parts of her remains? My grandfather used to “raise” pigs about 25 years ago and would keep them in pens like this and they became slightly feral….He would feed them slop from the local schools that included meat and all organic material his pigs would actually fight to get the meat products….

  48. My opinion says:

I soooo don’t want to think about the pigs any more….. this story makes me very sad :(
