Tracy, Ca– Sandru Cantu, 8, was last scene on a security camera leaving the home she shared with her Mother, siblings, and Grandparents at 4Pm on Friday March 27.

A neighbor, Nahum Diaz, reported last seeing Sandra at his home where she was playing with his 5 year old sister. Diaz told police she was playing briefly after school at approximately 3PM and then left to return to her home to finish her homework. Sandra was last seen wearing a pink Hello Kitty tshirt and black leggings. The mother of the child she was last seen playing with, Rebecca Hullar, said her daughter told her that Sandra said she was going to run away, but Hullar did not believe she had.

“..It made my hopes higher that she’s out there, but no..”

There has been no Amber Alert issued for Sandra, presumably due to the fact there is video footage of the child leaving her residence and no witness accounts indicating she has been abducted.

Today’s search for missing eight year old Sandra Cantu, a Jacobson Elementary School second-grader, hasn’t let up, 27 hours after she was last seen at her home in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park. There has been a roadblock set up by the FBI stopping cars leaving or arriving the Park at 812 West Clover Road since Friday evening. A source inside the search confirmed they are working on plans to expand the search to the outer wooded areas by this afternoon.

Participating in the search coordination are the FBI, California Highway Patrol, San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, Tracy Volunteers in Police Services, Tracy Community Emergency Response Team, Tracy Fire Department and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Sandra is the daughter of Ms. Chavez and Danny Cantu, whom resides in Mexico. There is no pending custody dispute according to a review of Family Court files. Candice Vega, Sandra’s cousin, recently warned her about being safe:

“I told her, ‘Gosh, you’re so pretty and cute and little’. I said, ‘you know you’re not supposed to talk to strangers, right?’ She said ‘yeah’. I said, ‘because there’s a lot of bad people who like to take pretty, little girls like you’. She said, ‘Do you know anyone who’s been kidnapped?’ I said, ‘No, but I see it on TV all the time’.”

She went on to say that Sandra was a happy child, and felt it unlikely she would ever run off on her own.

Particularly disturbing is the families recount of an incident that occurred at the swimming pool two years ago when Sandra was six. They stated that an elderly man, whom they did not name, walked up to Sandra at the pool and kissed the little girl on the mouth.

Police say they’ve searched several homes in the mobile home park and have no persons of interest and no evidence of an abduction.

Friends and family plan a “vigil of hope” at 8 p.m. today near the entrance to the mobile home park, 812 W Clover Road .

Anyone with information about Sandra Cantu’s whereabouts is asked to call the Tracy Police Department at (209) 831-4550 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.

This is so sad! So many little girls missing! It’s almost like a bunch of “copycat abducters” are beginning to pop up.

I pray this little girl is safe, and not in harms wat.

Why does the press or bloggers find it necessary to publish my in-laws, who are in their 70′s ( Chris Sinclair’ parents ) phone number on the internet for all to see and call and the fact that my other brother in law Brandon Sinclair commited suicide in 2004-this is very painful for all involved?

Ms. Sinclair, I most certainly did not publish your inlaws phone number nor would I. My condolences on Mr. Sinclair’s passing, but it has appeared in news articles previously and your in laws were directly quoted in them publicly. No one is judging your in laws nor would I allow that on my site. It is always very sad when I see family members put in a position they did not ask for. I would be remiss if I did not urge you to tell Christopher to tell Police EVERYTHING he knows. To that end, if he was involved with anything to do with Sandra’s disappearance, if she is unharmed, I have a friend of mine willing to represent him free of charge. You can comment back to me and I will not post it if that is an option.

  9. I live in Manteca and have seen young girls walking home alone after school and I know based on the family watch dog site that we have a number of sex affenders living with in a 1 mile radius from our home and our school. It scares me that we have so much trust in our fellow man to leave our children alone. This is so… sad. I want to help!
