Attempted Child Abduction: Orlando Girl 9, Breaks Free

Posted by BOC Staff | Attempted Kidnapping,Bizarre Crime,Kidnapping,Marcus Younge,Missing Child,Sexual Predators | Friday 17 April 2009 10:49 am

Allow me to introduce you to the luckiest little girl in the world this morning. I will not report her name  as she is 9. Her name is being witheld as a minor; let’s refer to her as “Lucky ” .  I am reporting on Lucky’s story in lieu of writing about the high profile cases that attract thousands to this site every day. Why?  Because I would be thrilled to never bring you another story about a missing child found in a suitcase or garbage bag, etc. I read this and thought; Maybe I am going about this all wrong. Maybe the fact that these children are splashed all over the news, every HLN program and every True Crime blog isn’t enough to give some the wake up call they need to act for our childrens protection.

Maybe the message needs to be about the one that got away for some of us to see our own children at risk. You tell me.

myoung1

Orlando, FL- “Lucky”, 9, was playing with friends last evening in her neighborhood in the vicinity of S.Goldenrod and Pershing AvenueIt was a mild evening in Orlando and the children were enjoying a game of hide and seek.  Keeping a close watch on the activities apparently, was neighbor Marcus Younge.

Younge 23, came out of nowhere, grabbed Lucky by the waist and attempted to pick her up according to the child’s statement to Investigators. She was able to break free from Younge’s grasp and fled home to her parents as she had been taught.  While she was running, she looked back to see if she was being chased by her boogey- man- in- real- life, who was fleeing as well;  in the opposite direction.

Lucky’s Mother called Orange County Sheriff’s Office immediately, and her parents set out to find the guy their daughter said attempted to nab her while they waited for them to arrive.  Approximately one block away, Marcus Younge, who matched the descrition given by Lucky to her parents, was spotted by her Mother who was able to capture a photo of Younge on her cell phone.  Once spotted, Younge retreated from the scene and was nowhere in sight when Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) responded immediately with Officers and a K9 unit.

Using the bloodhound, the k9 was able to track the scent of the alleged perpetrator to his home one block from the scene.  Following a positive ID by comparison to the cell photo and eyewitness confirmation from Lucky, Younge was arrested. myoung3

While in custody, Younge denied being outside of his residence at any time that evening.  When confronted with the cell phone photo taken by the victim’s Mother, Marcus Younge’s temporary amnesia appeared to subside.  He admitted that he had attempted to hug Lucky, and that he may have a problem with his need to hug young children. Younge admitted during a digitally recorded interview with investigators that he himself had been sexually abused as a child and he may be acting out as a result.

The words crisis averted apply only to the first half of this report, unfortunately. Remove projectiles from your immediate reach.

Although Marcus Younge was charged with Felony Attempted kidnapping, he posted bond and was released this morning.  In the post-interview findings report it clearly states Younge’s interest in Lucky was that of a sexual nature, specifically :

..”Marcus Younge did attempt to abduct “Lucky” against her will with the intent to commit a felony not limited to lewd molestation and/or sexual battery…”

Sooooo…. now he’s free to go out there and try it again – perhaps even successfully next time?!?!? No consequences, no alert to the community/neighborhood, no one monitoring his activities/whereabouts? WTF?!?!?

Poor little Lucky & her parents must be scared to death! (As we all should be.)

Thank you, Blink, for putting this out there – and for your crusade to help keep innocent children safe. I think your approach is right on the mark – and one which all news reporting should adopt; get these creeps’ mug out there for the world to see & get laws changed so LE can enforce stricter punishment and deterrants. We as a community of concerned citizens need a grass roots campign of sorts to assure changes are made so that this will no longer be tolerated.

    Something needs to change.

I would imagine that the thousands who attended little Sandra’s memorial and the entire town of Tracy would be willing to assist in campaigning for legislative changes…. What can we do to help?

  7. Jaelin says:

Kudos to Lucky for getting away, and to her parents for teaching her how to react in that situation. Unfortunately, I don’t think Lucky is the first of last potential (or actual) victim of Marcus Younge. If it had been my child and my husband and I were out looking for someone who tried to abduct her, I am pretty sure my husband would have pulled out his hunting rifle and shot him.

  8. Jane says:

I am outraged that he was released! What do we have to do to get the laws changed? This is insanity!

    EXACTLY.. Outrageous..

  9. FairestWitness says:

This is exactly why child rape, abductions and murders are rampant in our society. Zero tolerance laws should be enacted whereby NO BAIL is granted for accused child kidnappers/pedophiles. If convicted they should NEVER walk the streets again. Monsters like Melissa Huckaby and Casey Anthony should be executed.

We wouldn’t have serial pedophiles-killers if we took them off the streets the very first time they harmed a child or attempted to harm a child.

I’ll tell you what; if “Lucky” was my 9 year old daughter and her would-be molester/abductor had been released the very day after I helped get the son of a bitch arrested, …. well, I won’t write it, but …. suffice it to say, justice would be done.

Why do we afford rights, freedoms and privileges to those who have proven they don’t deserve them??? Likewise, why do we shit all over the rights of law-abiding, innocent victims and their loved ones? This country’s justice system is one f**ked up mess.

The release on bond was a rookie cop’s mistake!!! He changed ‘NO BOND’ order to $5000.00 apparently on his own after learning from jail personel that the bond schedule for this charge is 5 grand.

So, what is Lucky for one little girl, may end up being not so lucky for the next child… they can’t re-arrest him on the first charge now so he’ll have to do something else. Hope they have his DNA.

Has anyone read John Steinbeck’s ‘Of Mice and Men’ or have seen film? The ‘bear hug’ may not always be the child molester’s best tool for securing a child– not sophisticated, unless there is a vehicle waiting right there.

What if (and it’s just a what if) a child is hugged or touched by someone who is no more than a ‘child’ themselves for whatever reason and is not attacking for sexual purposes or abduction… what if…

Not saying it’s this case, don’t know…. but some cases it will certainly be… as in ‘ Of Mice and Men’.

  14. Jaelin says:

My children know that they are not to be touched inappropriately or even approached by a stranger at all. In fact, yesterday in a coffee shop, we were waiting for our coffee when a lady standing next to us commented that she loved coffee mugs. She turned to my 3-year-old and said “aren’t they beautiful?”. My daughter kinda made a funny face and walked away and said “Was she talking to me?” “yes” I said. She said “I don’t want her talking to me”. At first I thought she was being rude until I remembered the discussions we’ve had of late about strangers. “oh, you’re remembering that you’re not supposed to talk to strangers, aren’t you?” I said. The lady looked a bit embarassed and said “oh, sorry”. “That’s ok”, I tell her and turn to my daughter. “That’s a good girl not to talk to strangers, but when mommy is next to you, it’s ok”.

It’s important to teach kids that anytime they feel uncomfortable with anyone touching or just being around them to get away and tell someone. If their discomfort is not really “valid” then discuss it and try to ease their fears. That’s just MHO and how we handle things.

Good Job. That’s an excellent example. A good way to tell if your children have listened to your “discussions” about stranger communication is that when somone speaks to them in your presence, if they turn and look at you first for permission, which is what I taught my own children. I have even been in a position where someone that skeeved me spoke to them and I responded, My apologies, We have taught our children not to speak to anyone that they do not know, regardless of how nice they might seem, it is a necessity, nothing personal. I think it’s important to have our kids see us practice what we preach, and also witness that the individual will usually say, “O I completely understand, no offense taken”, so those with kids afraid to hurt one’s feelings will be over that issue.

One of the biggest things I implore parents, Grandparents and caregivers to remember- Pedophiles do not look like the creepy dude from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The most insidious and dangerous ones look like anyone, but are MASTERFUL at manipulating. Equally as important: Pedos that are unkown aquaintances to the victim that abduct a child for sexual compulsions are rare. However, they have no intention of bringing them back, ever. That is what makes this Younge creep particularly dangerous. If he is on the street, he will do this again, no doubt. And now, facing a felony kidnapping charge he may see himself as having nothing to lose. I would be forming a neighborhood watch coalition if I lived there, and make sure he knew about it. Personally, I feel he was undercharged based on his interview and I dont get that.

    Blink,

I totally agree with you. This guy was underchared and I don’t get it either. It just seems that our LE are so afraid of lawsuits that they are too careful with the charges. Our attorneys told us that most pedos have between 40-70 victims! That’s right, I hope your jaw is dropping! Most abuse is not reported, and after the way that LE deals with these creeps, it’s not surprising. In our case, I can only take solice in knowing that WHEN the pedo that raped my 5 year old rapes again, there will be SOMETHING in his file…

Just a little side info. Grabby boy is 22 y.o. He lives in a house valued at about 158k. 3 br, 1.5 baths. There is a large shed in the backyard. There is a fairly new, small, cheap dark red SUV in the driveway. It is in a neighborhood of small houses and working families. Most houses on the street are mowed and have flower beds. The house he is listed as living in has a sega palm in the front by the road. It is a tan house with bright powder blue trim.
I bet he does not live there. I think this is just the address he told LE. I bet it is his mom or grandma’s home.

I hope this attemted Kidnapping don’t trigger BOZO or the A’s trying to say see, there is a kidnapper in Orlando, maybe he is the one who had Caylee. I can see them doing it. Same area. You don’t need to make any new laws. If you can become a foster parent or adopt an abused child, that will be a step in the right direction. Laws only stop those over 18 or a juvenile when its to late. To really stop the problem you must provide abused children with a stable, loving household. Another key is providing them with access to counseling throughout their life if all possible. I feel for this guy, but then again I don’t. I have seen abused children and how they act. At the same time if they do it to others later in life, then its their crime that they have to pay for.

This guy in the story simply posted bond. It does not mean he will go free. I just means he got bail. If you don’t kill anyone then you will get bail. If you kill someone you may still get bail, its the law.

Great ideas slick, but to clarify, Marcus Younge was arrested on Felony kidnapping, he was on a no bond and got out due to rookie error. “Lucky” and that community is at risk.

Blink, in light of all the horrific deaths of little children in Florida, how is it that LE doesn’t recognize a predator when they take one into custody? My God, Florida’s children are all targets for deviants. Wouldn’t you think the FL legislature would have passed stricter laws protecting its children by now?

Adam Walsh was abducted and murdered on July 27, 1981, TWENTY SEVEN YEARS ago, for crying out loud. When is Florida, when is America going to recognize the beasts of pedophilia for what they are?

I am so disgusted, so very frustrated that this keeps happening in our society. What does it say about it when we can’t even keep our children safe from this depravity?

Sadly, it sends the messages to pedos that they have a pretty good shot of getting away with their crime.

I am not an attorney and haven’t ever been arrested, and I do not understand why a judge can’t do something to correct the mistake made by a rookie cop who listened to a jail clerk. What is a rookie doing involved in a felony kidnap/pedophile case anyway? Shouldn’t the important things be overseen by someone who knows what is going on? It was a mistake and it seems that mistakes could be corrected so that this person would not be on the streets. Give him his money back and start over, doing it right this time…

  21. william alexander says:

No one here even has their facts straight. I am Marcus Younge uncle. He did not hug attempt to hug the girl. The girl was running and she ran him thim him. when then happened, he atempted to grab the girl so she wouldn’t fall, as most people would. Marcus then fell back and landed on the ground.
Marcus wasn’t just walking down the street either. He was walking to a friends house, on the other block.
An easy way to proove that this case is false, is that Marcus was never sexually assulted as a child or teen. The final way to know is. YOUNGE IS NOT HIS LAST NAME. I know this because I am closley related to him and know his real name. I will not release his real name because it could be easily used against him.
He is not a kidnapper, or a pedaphile. He is another Orlando resident that was simply trying to walk to a friends house.
    Thank you.

well how am I supposed to provide conformation to my statements? I really don’t care if you dont believe me but all the stuff is, is false accusations and propaganda…

If you did not care or have an agenda you would not have posted here in the first place. I was giving you an opportunity to confirm your statements. Marcus Younge was arrested for felony kidnapping and stated he was sexually abused as a child, on a digitally recorded tape. How do you suppose your getting around that? Sounds to me like your beef should be with Marcus. My report matches the police reports. His/yours does not.

    B,

I read my post and it sound a little sympathetic for the guy. Please don’t take it that way. I am all for Lucky. Younge is a slime ball that deserves the worst. I do know that where I am from bail is pretty much set. It does vary due to certain circumstances. Below is the link to the bail schedule for San Francisco County, CA. I am no sure how it is in Florida.

    http://www.sfgov.org/site/uploadedfiles/courts/Forms_Fees_Rules/2008BailSchedule.pdf

My point on my first post was a snap shot of my feelings. I think people pick up majority of their good and bad habits at a very early age. We need to find a way to intervene in their lives before they become the next Younge who is out lurking the streets for kids. Younge could have done this to who knows how many kids. It is also possible that he is on file as being abused as a child. I know of children here in California that were abused, and nothing was really being done to help. There is allot of smoke and mirrors when it comes to really helping children. The band-aid approach is taken, but the scar under never heals. It doesn’t mean that they will go and hurt other children later in life. I will say that more times then not they will have issues, become criminals, and worst case do to others what was done to them. Im of the stance that when you know it may be a problem down the line, then why not address the problem sooner then later. That what I was getting at.

At the end of the day though Younge is a slime ball that needs to get his A## Whooped!

    RE: William Alexander,
I would also like to state that I do not believe you. I personally went to school for one year with Marcus. I was twelve, and from what I can figure, that would make him sixteen or seventeen at the time. More then once he informed he that he liked to “watch my butt move” when he walked, and if I had a seat next to him, he would encourage me to to put my feet in his lap, even after I would shake my head and refuse. He gave me, and all my friends, the creeps and we tried to avoid him as much as possible. When I heard about this incident, I was horrified, but barely surprised, and disgusted that I had been in such close contact with someone capable of attempting such an act. It is unfortunate that this incident occurred, and even more unfortunate that no one caught early warning signs and found an appropriate action.
What you know, may just be what you think you know; in many cases I can only speculate that the family becomes unpleasantly surprised at how much of what they know is a reality.

Wow. I appreciate you coming on to be heard. Must be especially creep for you. What your saying is indicative of a very early pedophile. I do not allow people to choose the name anonymous on my site, so I just changed your slightly, I hope you dont mind

Uh, yeah, I’m his uncle too. The literate one. Marcus got the Marshall scholarship and is going to Oxford in the fall to study nanotechnology and complete his master’s and doctorate. He has done amazing work in reconnecting neurons that have become “lost sheep” so to speak. For grins, he dabbles in creating a new rocket fuel made from water using radio waves and his aluminum foil hat as an actuator. He is also working on a cancer cure to cure my sister, his Aunt Binky. He’s a good boy.

Please disregard last paragraph as the inner mental gymnastics of a liar. None of it is true. The detective, newspaper, and Marcus all know he is a sick boy. Marcus admitted it. Good ’nuff for me.

And last is to ANNONYMOUS. I am glad you fine tuned your hinky meter at such a young age. It sounds like your honed instincts serve you well. Stay safe.

I am still not convinced that William Alexander is his uncle. Mr. Alexander, where does Marcus work, or what field does he work in? Does he have a girlfriend? Are you a maternal, paternal, or by-marriage uncle? Has he ever admitted to any other crimes that you feel he is not guilty of? Does he own or rent his home? At 22y.o. the world is his oyster with some ambition and hard work. Please take a minute and tell me a little about him and why you feel he is such a good kid. I am curious about your personal knowledge of his morals, character, and work ethic. Thanks.

  31. FairestWitness says:

These predators have been around since the beginning of time. In the 60′s, when a little girl was molested by the 16 year boy/babysitter who lived down the street, her daddy would talk to the boy in the backyard while she and her mommy watched, shaking, out the sliding glass door of the kitchen. Then it was swept under the rug, no police, no arrest or charges filed, no trial — and no counseling for the victim either. Not a word was ever spoken of it again, the parents even denied it happened (at first), when the grown woman confronted them.

At least now these monsters are arrested. Although, a whole lot of good that does when law enforcement releases them immediately back into society. This case disgusts me.

Whatever family member it is on this site defending this monster, Marcus Younge, had better wise up and look into the young relatives of his own family for more of Marcus’ victims. Because they are surely there, waiting for someone in that family to give a damn about their silent suffering and humiliation.

These animals start their crimes very close to home. The family members defending him think not telling the truth about this pedophile is protecting their family’s reputation. In actuality, the opposite occurs when one tries to defend the indefensible, you are painted with the same brush.

Death to all pedophiles and prosecution of their enablers.

For anyone who lives in California that has a child who has been abused, there are resources available for state-of-the-art PTSD counseling at little or no cost. It is through the Victims Compensation Program. Your best bet is to take your child to your pediatrician, then they can start the ball rolling. There will need to either be a police report or a mental health professional’s report done. Of course, if Iit has just occured, take them directly to your closest Children’s Hospital where they are all too familiar with what to do. BE SURE THAT A SART, (SEXUAL ABUSE RESPONSE TEAM) TEAM IS AVAILABLE IF YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN SEXUALLY ABUSED!

I DO NOT KNOW MUCH ON THIS CASE, BUT LUCKY IS CERTAINLY LUCKY. IT HAS PROVEN THAT SOCIAL AWARENESS IS CERTAINLY PREVALANT. FOREMOST, IT WAS THIS YOUNG CHILD’S AWARENESS THAT CHANGED THE OUTCOME OF THIS CASE BY FAR, KUDOS MOM AND DAD! CHILDREN CAN BE PURSUADED SO EASILY WHEN THEY ARE YOUNG EVEN AFTER OUR LECTURES ON STRANGERS. THEY GET TO CAUGHT UP IN PLAYING WITH OTHER CHILDREN, JUST A VERY VALUABLE LESSON KEEP YOUR KIDS VERY CLOSE AND NEVER LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED, ALTHOUGH WHEN THEY ENTER THEIR TEEN YEARS THEY ARE CERTAINLY EMBARRASSED BY THEIR PARENTS PRESENCE. THAT IS WHY IT IS EVEN MORE SO IMPORTANT TO DRILL THESE THINGS INTO THEIR HEADS WHEN THEY ARE YOUNG, SO WHEN THEY DO HIT THEIR TEEN YEARS THEY WILL NOT BE EMBARRASSED BUT INSTEAD WILL UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE PROACTIVE. TEENS HAVE A SUPER NEED TO FIT IN, WE MUST AS PARENTS START TEACHING THEM ABOUT SAFETY AND STRANGERS IN PRE-SCHOOL. IT MAY SOUND A BIT YOUNG BUT IN FACT THIS IS WHEN CHILDREN ARE EAGER AND WILLING TO LISTEN TO MOMMY AND DADDY THE MOST WITHOUT THE INFLUENCE OF OTHERS. PROACTIVNESS IS KEY TO KEEPING OUR YOUNG ONES SAFE. I HAVE TO SAY AGAIN, WONDERFUL OUTCOME HERE, LUCKY BLESS YOUR SWEET HEART, GOOD GIRL! MOMMY AND DADDY, YOU HAVE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB!
