CRAIGSLIST KILLER PHIL MARKOFF TRIES TO HANG HIMSELF IN CELL
Boston, MA– Accused Craigslist Killer Philip Markoff attempted to hang himself in his cell today with his shoelaces. Markoff was arraigned on Tuesday in the Commonwealth where he entered a plea of not guilty through his attorney, John Salsberg.
In a routine check, correction officers found “shoelace marks” around Markoff’s neck this afternoon and have moved him out of general population and placed him in a segrated Unit at Boston’s Nashua Street jail under a suicide watch where guards can keep a close eye on him.
Markoff stands accused of the armed robbery and kidnapping of Trisha Leffler, and the murder of 26 year old NYC masseuse, Julissa Brisman.
Phil Markoff is a second year Medical Student at Boston University.
Markoff was luring his victims via craiglist masseuse ads and Police fear there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. He was arrested Monday afternoon on his way to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut with his fiancee, Megan McAllister. Jim McAllister, Megan’s Father says his daughter is standing by her man.
..She’s still confident in Phil.. We are saying alot of prayers..”
When asked if Ms. McAllister had an idea of Phil’s criminal activities, he answered ..”absolutely none..”
Late Yesterday, Boston Police announced a semi automatic weapon was retrieved from the couple’s home from a hollowed out copy of Gray’s Anatomy. Additionally there are unconfirmed reports that panties belonging to the victims, as well as other evidence belonging to the victims.

Maybe I’m becoming more jaded than I thought — if he was in general population and tried to kill himself, wouldn’t others/cellmates seen that? Course, that may be why the COs looked for the marks. I might need to leave the Ants alone for a while — effecting my sensitivity.
Anybody see the fiancee’s father making a statement to the media? He looked like a pig in snit… he looked a little tooo smiley and happy given the circumstances. I think he didn’t like Markoff to begin with.
Too bad they do not kill themselves before the crimes.
What a scumbag this guy is. And his fiancee is too dumb to live if she’s still supporting him. Innocent people don’t attempt suicide in jail. They fight to prove their innocence tooth and nail.
This story just gets uglier & uglier. I am curious about his childhood & upbringing-especially his relationship with his mother & his father’s attitude towards her. This young guy is really confusing. On 1 hand, he seems intelligent, ambitious & friendly, but on the other, he seems to hate women, is a compulsive gambler,& is extremely snobbish $ condescending.
I reckon a couple of the genpop homecoming court tried him on for size. He didn’t like it and tried to end it once and for all. Now that he is on suicide watch, I can see him pleading out, if offered. With this much evidence against him he may not be offered anything. We do know from experience that he knows how to cave a head in. Maybe that will be his next suicide method.
Megan’s dad should not storm into the media and say how Megan is supporting CLK. Megan needs to quietly fade away. Her dad needs to stop opening his mouth and removing all doubt.
Let him do it & put it on UTUBE.

Greg, i’m with ya…strange how all of these “suicidal” killers manage to kill their victims, but just can’t seem to get it right when it comes to themselves. Markoff is a pansy how has no problem killing and stealing from strange women…but when it comes down to it, he can’t handle jail. just think IF THIS GUY WASN’T CAUGHT AND BECAME YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR. uugggg.

While I am not shocked, I am a bit surprised. A kid who comes from a wealthy bakground that, by all accounts so far, was driven to succeed and become an affluent adult normally does not go on a spree of this nature. Depending on his specialty he chose he stood a good chance of being in the upper 1.5% of earners in this country. Add to this the fact that he seemed to have nothing in his background to foreshadow these events. So he was smart in his field, had newfound good looks, was preparing for a financially rewarding life, had a cute fiance and other women flattering his ego, etc. There was no outward reason for him to do this.
If he had been living on the street and killed for a roof over his head and a meal it would be more easily understandable. If he had been arrested for dealin’ and pimpin’ and fightin’ and stealin’ and peekin’ and a whole plethora of the ‘ins it would make more sense. But for an intelligent educated kid to go this route is bound to raise an eyebrow of even those familiar with Bundy and Bernardo types, eh?
Maybe Megan or her dad can shed some light on his gambling issues at their next presser. Apparently, this is what presssured him into his spree. And last, with the mountains of evidence he left behind, he may be the dumbest spree criminal in history. Maybe he was just a ned school savant and not functional in any other area. Who knows, eh?

“Authorities do think they have the right man.

“They believe that this is a rookie serial killer: Someone who preyed upon women using the Internet to lure them where he needed to get them.
Many serial killers start out with victims that they don’t murder, working up to the murders.”
It’s amazing how now Markoff is being refered to as a serial killer.
I expect he has some dark issues inside his mind, but to suggest he’s a serial killer without supportive evidnce seems a little risky, and could open Mr. Walsh up some litigation involving libel and defamation of character.

In response to #19…I agree with Mr Walsh. This man was a serial robber of women of a certain type..then came murder..now we learn of trophies…that does not make for just robbery. Abnormal Psych 101 students know that is not only a form of a psycho-sexual compulsive disorder but traits that are the beginning markers of sociopath serial killers. He was cutting his teeth so to speak..My bet..we will find more of the same type vic, robbery and bondage and trophy’s in this man’s past. He didn’t want sex..too dirty and too much DNA left behind..he just wanted to rob, bound them and belittle them ..the belittlement is the most distressing part..because that is the part that says you are not a human to me..you are a piece of dirt to be dealt with as I please. Do I believe this was his first robbery attempts..no..do I believe this was his first killing ..yes..but not because she fought back..but because he had escalated to that point.
Can we say guilty as charged..why else try to hang yourself with shoelaces..for pity..possibly ..but people who are not guilty don’t do this within a matter of days. Especially when they have a high powered attorney. This dude knows his goose is cooled..and is looking for sympathy..look at me..I just couldn’t live with myself if you are charging me with this..yeah right..your’e a medical doc..you knew shoelaces in a jail cell surrounded by others would not kill you..just hoping for sympathetic press.

You have got to be kidding me!! Shoelaces? What did he do…wrap them around his neck, do a few rubbing motions to leave a mark, so he could be put in a private cell?! This was not an attempted suicide IMO! Nice try, but your fiancee is going to see the real you in a very short period of time.

Computer forensics from his computer and his phone records will tell how many other Craigslist women he met with. Or men. Remember he had the ad where he advertised himself as a 24 year old ebony girl. These girls do not necessarily have to come forward to be found.

Many people have hung themselves with shoelaces its actually common. They ususally take the shoe lace out when you are hospitalized for mental health problems.
