BRITTANEE MARIE DREXEL: TEEN MISSING FROM SPRING BREAK S.C.

Posted by BOC Staff | Brittanee Drexel,John Hahn,John Parrinello,Missing Child,Missing Persons,Peter Broswick | Tuesday 28 April 2009 10:30 pm

Myrtle Beach, SC– Brittanee Marie Drexel, 17, has been missing since the evening of April 25th. Drexel was last seen, according to witnesses at the Motel she was staying in, against her Mother’s protests, at 8:15PM.

Brittanee2

Police have named Peter Broswick, the person last seen with Brittanee, a person of interest in her disappearance. Dawn Drexel, Brittanee’s Mother did not grant her permission for the Spring Break trip, but she had maintained regular contact with the sparkling blue-eyed beauty.

PeterBroswick2-1

Broswick has retained a local attorney and attempts to reach him for a statement have not been returned to blinkoncrime.com.

Mrs. Drexel became worried when she was unable to reach her daughter Sunday after she told her she would be returning that evening.

Dawn called a family friend in North Carolina to file a missing persons report after Brittanee did not come home on Sunday as promised.
Stationed at Camp Lejeune, John Hahn, a family friend for 8 years and Marine, drove the 2.5 hours from base to S.C. to file a missing persons report at the request of Drexler.

“Then I called John Grieco back, Brittanee’s boyfriend. He proceeded to tell me, nobody’s gone looking for her. Of the friends she was down at Myrtle Beach with, nobody had gone looking for her. I don’t know what kind of friends those are, but that’s not right,” Hahn said.

Hahn went on to say Brittanee’s boyfriend, John Grieco, first informed him of Brittanee’s disappearance in the early hours of Sunday morning through a text message from Rochester. Hahn says Brittanee was staying in a room at the Bar Harbor hotel with three friends – two females and a male.

According to Hahn, Broswick left S.C for Rochester, his hometown, when he learned Police wanted to speak to him and Hahn was on his way to speak with detectives.

When Hahn arrived in Myrtle Beach, he was immediately concerned.

Hahn found all of Brittanee’s belongings still inside her hotel room, he also found Drexel’s clothes and liquor inside Broswick’s hotel room.

Broswick and friends also left behind a $100 deposit at the front desk

The assault on the web community commences, note who gives an obvious Broswick supporter a voice:

BrittaneePostInsessions-1

Broswick, the 20-year-old who is reportedly the last one to see Brittanee, has hired defense attorney John Parrinello.

Parrinello says his client is fully cooperating with investigators and hopes the young lady is okay.

Apparently his well wishes do not include mentioning “the young lady”, Brittanee Marie Drexel, by name.

In an interview with WHAM, Brittanee’s Mom, Dawn Drexel said:

..” Peter, we need to know what’s going on. “Brittanee is very special to us. We need to know what is going on. We need to know why the authorities weren’t called. We need answers and we’re not getting them,”

did Brittanees boyfriend John know that she was actually in MB not in NY? things I have been reading lead me to this conclusion? If he did know, why didn’t her tell her Mom??

  2. Red Ranger says:

Hey Kuaitzudog, That was my understanding as well. A teenage boy would not tell her mom. This would seriously curtail his sex life. As well, I have heard no comment from him about her being in MB and apparently dating others all week. The impression they are giving now is that none of them hardly knew her. Which adult was responsible for bringing her down there? This crosses many state lines and kidnapping is a federal crime anyway. And yes, a 19 or 20 year old taking her down without parental permission is kidnapping. She is not of the age of majority and able to make that decision for herself.

  3. Poetica says:

Right on Red Ranger. Those young adults are still adults and knew that Brittanee was under age.

  4. hoping says:

I keep finding myself coming back to this site hoping that they’ve found any of these missing kids, I can’t even begin to imagine how their parents must feel.

  5. cookie says:

Hi, 1st time posting – Blink u rock I’ve been following your site closely since I stumbled upon it a few weeks back. I too ck ur site frequently for updates on this beautiful girl who has so much to lk fwd to in life. I had a dream the other nite that she was in Vegas having fun…I know not anywhere near MB it was just a crazy dream hopeful if you will…I by NO means am stating that I’ve ever been clairoyant..just can recall my dreams very well. My oldest son is having his first communion today and we will pray for her return anything helps right?

  6. coolio says:

Just checked to see if FB photos are still there. They are…. You would think someone would influence her to take them down.

Also checked out add’l comments made and note AL has changed her profile pic to the one of she and Brit on the beach. Somehow I don’t think it is to call attn to fact Brittanee is missing…

I hope they find her soon.

  7. TF says:

I see a lot of people writing about how the mother could just let her stay down there and not drag her home. every single article or news piece I have seen has quoted the mother as saying that she did NOT know that Brittanee was down there until she got a call saying they counldn’t find her. she thought Brit was at a friends house. she had told her not to go and they had a fight over it and she stormed out and went to a friends house.
I just pray that they find this beautiful young woman. I have family that live in Rochester and 2 cousins who are close to her. they are all just sick about this. Safe Return, Brittanee!

Bolded by me, yes, this though is the part I think people are having the problem with. You can’t storm out and be gone 17 hours and not raise a flag. This isn’t the issue anymore, let’s just find her.

  8. Tee Ann says:

This is for everyone that is blaming the mother of this 17 year old girl. I have an 18 year old son that got into a little trouble when he was 17. I went with him to the court house and was told that I didn’t have to sign anything and was not even needed. In NC a person is considered an adult at 17 years old. As a mother I can only imagine what she is feeling at this time. I can say that I do try to keep track of my 14 and 18 year old at all times. If anything is out of routine, I am on their tracks! They do not stay away from home one night without me knowing there whereabouts.

  9. wendy says:

I copied this from an earlier post. It is a 911 call:

09-034810 4/24/2009 04:04PM 918 N OCEAN BL FRIE SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE CAB IN ALLEY

I wonder if there was a person in a “cab” who offered her a ride. How perfect. You get in the door’s lock with child proof locks so you can’t get out. You are relaxed at first thinking this person is taking you to the hotel so she didn’t have to walk. It doesn’t look suspicious so noone notices. He turns around and driver her to secluded area.

I actually just scared myself because honestly I would probably have gotten into the car thinking it was a long walk and its a taxie

  10. coolio says:

wendy, hadn’t seen that 911 transcript before but it appears to me it was words transposed and a misspelling so that report was: suspicious fire of a cab in an alley. Otherwise what is frie?

  11. hoping says:

Anyone hear about a siting in South Carolina in a convenience store and then her leaving in a vehile with NY plates? I heard this from someone and was wondering if it had any truth to it.

That is vehicle with NY plates.
    Not true.

  13. hELLO,
Stories like these break my hear. I too can’t understand why none of the people she came with went to look for her. Is that really true. Do you kids have hearts?? Everyone should have been there out in the street, handing out flyers, posting where ever you could. Driving around looking for her. This does not sound right to me. Smells bad. Why did night rider take off at 2 a.m. to go home, leaving his stuff behind. Was he scared of something. When did the others leave. And for the most important question, WHERE IS BRITTANE

As much as it pains me to say this, I agree and some of my colleagues who have worked with the family on this case concur. Not a very nice or concerned group of kids. That Pete is a S L I M E and any girl that would give that punk 10 minutes of her time will regret it. That said, I am satisfied he had nothing to do with her disappearance; he just didnt give a sh*t about it.

  14. coolio says:

Seriously, something is so very wrong with her “companions” JO and AL (can’t really call them friends)

Call me a lurker, but I keep going back to see if FB photos have been taken down and then when I see they haven’t been, I look at updated comments.

Want to be outraged? Look at the new comments to photos 25 and 42…

  15. MackiezMom says:

I hear you, coolio. I just read the comments.

I hope that the parents of those kids happen upon this post. In that event-

Your kids are anathema. You’ve failed as parents. Their sociopathic behavior is despicable. What a disgrace to humanity. Hopefully, the legacy of their behavior follows them, and they become the pariahs that they resemble… OJ Simpson comes to mind. These young adults are sick, perverse animals. Their behavior is a reflection of their values. Their values are below the moral standard, even at its lowest. Making jokes, and disregarding the victim is a symptom of your parenting.

There ya go. Everyone likes to talk about peoples’ parenting. Well, the parents of these folks failed not only their children, but society. We’re stuck with them until they’re eventually locked up or no longer living.

  16. Ashley Marie says:

So, the boys have been cleared? What about these girls she was with? The FaceBook pictures and comments make me want to vomit and the slap the stew out of those girls and their friends……

  17. kuaitzudog says:

has everyone forgotten about Brittanee???sooo sad??

I most definately have not. I have colleagues that spent 4 days there, I am of the opinion her perp is a local, possibly cab driver, has offended before, and will again. The emphasis should be on running that down, imo.
    B

  18. kuaitzudog says:

I agree B..no one would question a person getting picked up by a cab driver. Now if she was kidnapped by a person driving a regular vehicle and was seen being thrown into the car..someone would have noticed. any why are there no video surveillance camera pics of her walking back towards her motel, like there are of her walking towards the boys hotel..because of darkness maybe? or aren’t the police releasing them.

  19. Sally Berger says:

What’s happening with this case? It is not being reported on anymore.

    Sally-
sadly, there is nothing to report. I have serious reservations this poor child will be found.

  20. Kate says:

Sorry if this has been touched on already, but in reading the news reports, etc. on this case, it has been said that “all of Brittanee’s belongings have been accounted for” except for her cell phone. I saw the video of her in the hotel lobby and it would appear she is carrying a white purse or tote bag over her shoulder. I would assume that would contain a wallet, or at least i.d. of some sort, and probably her cell phone. Yet there is no mention of this being missing. If ALL of her belongs are accounted for, does this mean her purse as well? Probably already covered this and probably is insignificant, but I was just curious.

  21. wendy says:

I haven’t heard a word about the purse she was carrying. You are right.

  22. Kate says:

I had heard that all of her items had been recovered. I took “all” to mean just that, all, which would include her purse. She is shown carrying it when she left the hotel to return to the hotel where she had been staying. If all of her items were accounted for, than I would assume that she had in fact returned to her hotel, contrary to what her friends later said. Oddly, I don’t think we have heard much from the girls that she had been staying with. I did hear that they moved hotel rooms the following day, and that they provided two different accounts of the text messages they received from Brittanee at 8:45 p.m. Seems odd to me, just saying.

  23. CJAYE says:

Did Peter sell Brittanee Drexel into Human Sex Trafficking? Think about it and if you know nothing about sex trafficking don’t say NO! I’ve been doing this for years and it fits the pattern. Could Peter have sold Brittanee in the sex trade?
Peter passed a poly and has been cleared, I do not believe he was involved.

Myrtle Beach Police Say Glimmer of Hope in the Case of a Missing Brittanee Drexel

    http://missingexploited.com/2009/07/12/myrtle-beach-police-say-glimmer-of-hope-in-the-case-of-a-missing-brittanee-drexel/

A veteran Myrtle Beach Police Officer says that there is a glimmer of hope in the case of missing 17 year old Brittanee Drexel. Sgt. Joey Crosby believes Brittanee Drexel may still be alive and stated that there are “intimate” parts of the investigation that are different from other missing person cases they have worked on; however, would not provide details.

  25. JM says:

Does anyone know how well Brit knew the people that she went down to MB with? From what I’ve read Brit went down to MB with 2 girls and 1 guy, but apparently there are pic’s of the 2 girls driving back to Rochester and now there are 2 girls and 3 boys in the car. Also, while Brit was gone visiting other friends at another hotel, didn’t she get a call or text that the people she went down to MB with had changed hotels. Does anyone know if those girls even told Brit what hotel they moved to? I get the impression they didn’t only because it was reported that Brit’s belongings were still at the first hotel/motel… I have a feeling that Brit did not really know these people that she went down to MB with very well. And I also get a feeling that the people that she went down there with have something to do with her disappearance… They need to find out who the other 2 guys are who were in the car driving back with those 2 girls. Those 5 people all need to be questioned.

My prayers are with the Drexel Family

  26. daisy100 says:

I feel it is such a rediculous thought to blame her mother, she did not allow her to go on this trip. So there life was not perfect, very few people have a perfect life. You can have 3 children, be strict and raise them all the same. I guarantee that their lives will all have a different outcome. Brittanee went on this trip because she wanted to, she lied to her mother because she is 17 and wanted to go. She saw fun and simply wanted to be a part of it. I really think she and her friends were aquaitances and had a falling out, girls will be girls, jealous over looks, boys you name it. I do not feel she ran away or was escaping life, she just wanted to go to Myrtle Beach and went. It did not matter who it was with, it was fun, sun, partying. Most 17 year olds would of hopped on the chance as well. Not smart, but most 17 year old girls, good homes or broken homes would have done the same. It just did not play out, something terrible happened along the way, whether one of the boys is related is a mystery. People question Jennifer fo demanding shorts back and being elusive. I do not think so, but time hopefully will give us answers. Peter, possibly, but questionable, they should have found DNA either in a hotel, car, clothing by this point. They have surveilance at the main entrance of the boys hotel, the burning question is what about side entrances, was it under surveilance? Where was the boys room? Ground floor or above? A low floor is a easy exit without detection. A random stranger very possible, this is a hot spot for very young, attractive, seeking pure fun people. She was on surveilance and apparently disappeared within 7 minutes after leaving the boys hotel. I have heard so many comments about how many people are in Myrtle Beach at this time of year and someone would have seen something. In a parking lot, very dark, there is nobody. Very easy target for someone more mature and sinaster. Younger people are out for fun here and are not thinking about abduction, if anything, it is the last thing on their minds. I have heard such horibble things, she deserved it, she was a slut you name it. She was 17, hardly old enough to be those things, just young, pretty wanting to have fun in a very popular spot. Her mother/boyfriend contacted the closest person to her 2 hrs away. He arrived in hours and contacted authorities, her mother spent 2 months in MB trying to find her or any details leading to her where abouts. Her grandparents arrived when her mother had to leave. They have spent all of there time trying to find her. The media can be a true asset in finding people that are abducted but can also hurt by not prroviding enough or inaccurate inormation.

  31. BlackPearl says:

Hi All, First time poster here. I got sucked into Morgan’s case after hearing about it. Its close enough to home and I used to attend large concerts like that when I was in high school and college. After participating on the FB page and the official page for a few weeks I got frustrated by the bickering and/or lack of new information. That led me to this site. I read about Brittanee’s disappearance on a news site back when it happened, and read all the Blink posts last night (instead of doing pressing homework)…

    A taxi cab on fire!?
A)I was under the impression that taxis and their drivers are licensed and registered? Making it easier to check into them and their past, criminal record, etc.?
B)Can taxis be owned and operated independently, without any oversight?
C)How easy is it for someone to impersonate a legitimate taxi?
D)In what way was the taxi on fire? As in the engine was smoking? Or as in someone was trying to burn objects or upholstery inside the car (to destroy evidence?)?
E)If a taxi were on fire— engine or interior— wouldn’t the taxi company be aware of this since they would have to make repairs?

Referring to post #140 by kuaitzudog on May 5, 2009…

My understanding is that this is the last video evidence of her the night she disappeared. Can anyone confirm if this was taken as she left the boys’ hotel to return to her own? Or was this taken on her way TO the boys’ hotel? (I had to watch the clip without sound since I’m at work)

Regardless of whether the clip was taken on the way to the boys’ hotel or from the boys’ hotel, she was supposedly only with them for 10 minutes before leaving. I was blown away by how many people were walking on the sidewalk with her/past her. How is there possibly a lack of witnesses? WTH?

“According to the report, Sgt. Crosby says there are intimate parts of the investigation that make this case different than any other missing persons case they’ve worked on. Crosby would not reveal the details.”

Blink, what could he possibly be referencing here? Not necessarily in this case specifically (since he won’t release the details) but what could they know that is so unique that it would lead them to believe that she is still alive? I hope they aren’t referencing cell phone pings because that isn’t enough for me. Do they have evidence that her bank cards have been used since her disappearance (also not enough for me unless there is ATM video of her making a withdrawal, but if that were the case I think they would announce that).

Hello Blackpearl #184 We happen to be friends with Brittanee’s grandmother and yes that is the last video of her , she was leaving the hotel after visiting Peter and his friends at the hotel , The family had to look a couple of times to make sure it was her and I do not think they recognized the shorts she was wearing . Brit has never been seen or heard of ever after that video , no activity on bank cards phone’s etc, just vanished into thin air , they also thought that she seemed to be in a hurry as she was walking away from the hotel , but they can only speculate why .To say they are hurting does not even begin to cover it , when I talk to her Grandma it is so sad she will be talking to you and then she kind of sighs and seems to fold right in front of you , it is painful to watch because you now they are suffering , While the “friends” have been cleared there are many questions still remaining and to say have been callous and indifferent to Brittanee’s disappearance would be putting it nicely

  34. Billiejean says:

sorry about that I could not post any more so her eis the local article about the search they just did for Brittanee new search for missing Chili teen Brittanee Drexel has turned up nothing of significance.

The CUE Center for Missing Persons organized the search after police in South Carolina received a new tip; however, no one is commenting on what that tip was.

The CUE Center said search crews worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday along the Santee River in an area near the spot where Drexel’s cell phone gave off its last signal.

“There’s been four dog teams that’ve been brought in to work the area and also a dive team has been there for two days. Nothing has been found that is related to human remains at this point, but we are going to continue to concentrate on the area for the next couple of days,” said Monica Caison, CUE Center for Missing Persons.

Caison said Brittanee’s mother Dawn was in the search areas over the weekend.

Brittanee was last seen on April 25 leaving a Myrtle Beach hotel.

  35. Billiejean says:

“MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Dec. 12) — A pair of women’s sunglasses discovered on the banks of a South Carolina river has renewed the search for a New York teen missing since April.

Multiple media outlets report the sunglasses were found by someone walking along the Santee River in Georgetown County about 40 miles south of Myrtle Beach.

Drexel was last seen April 26 — the same day a picture was taken of her wearing knockoff designer sunglasses similar to the pair found at the river. The site is not far from where her cell phone gave off its last known signal that night.”

#92-Karen lee – you are 100% right. Those that disagree with you are either not parents themselves or negligent parents, imo. Brittnee’s behaviour was created over her lifetime amongst mom’s divorce, remarriage, another divorce and then who knows, maybe mom had herself a new boyfriend in the picture when Brittnee was out running around over the 4 day spring break. That would explain her willingness to push away any uneasiness she may have felt about the validity of her daughters story of going to the beach. p.s. i love this site. And, yes, the mother was dressed inappropriately on NG for a woman her age and weight. That is what peaked my interest. She didn’t look like a mom, but an older woman who wanted to look and act young.

  39. Gerta says:

@linda, I am a parent and not a negligent one at that. imo, it isn’t necessary to judge this poor girl and the family dynamic, especially now. And to pick apart the clothing of this heartbroken mother as in appropriate is just plain trivial.

  40. osu says:

If Brittanee went to the Blue Water Resort to meet with Broswick, per the security photos of her, she was only there for 20 minutes or so. What has he said regarding the visit? Could she have met him there to score some drugs? Did she take them back to her hotel to party with her friends and perhaps OD? Did her friends then call him and he came, then “got rid of her” and then he took off for home? Did she ever even make it back to her hotel? Did LE find her purse that she was carrying on the security picture back at her hotel with all her belongings? I feel so sorry for her family! It was not her mother’s fault for Brittanee taking off without permission nor was it Brittanee’s fault for what may have happened to her…

  41. Krista says:

Several things bug me about this case.
    1. I am STUNNED that the police haven’t done more to investigate these ‘friends’ of Brittanee. The notion that her ‘friends’…the people she was last with….could completely dismiss her, leave her behind, ignore/dismiss any efforts to find her, and basically trash/mock Brittanee in their facebook/myspace pages…..all while police do nothing more than have a cursory PHONE interview with them is shocking.

    2. Our SC reporting agencies have repeatedly misreported/misunderstood the facts of the case…causing GREAT confusion for everyone. Did police get a ‘ping’ from her phone in Williamburg Co, which is further inland, or was that a reporting mistake. Did Brittanee really walk alone at night ‘frequently over the past few days’ like Peter said? Did Brittanee’s phone also get a ‘ping’ in Charleston like was mentioned by only some reports?
All along we have ‘thought’ that there would be no reason for her to agree to go to Georgetown, SC…as it isn’t a ‘hotspot’ for teens. But Charleston is….and I can totally see Brittanee going there for the night if asked by one of her friends. But, according to SOME reports, Brittanee was barely speaking with her ‘friends’….and had been walking alone at night repeatedly. Her boyfriend said that she was having a bad time from the start b/c the girls were being mean to her. If she actually walked the streets alone, someone may have seen a pattern, or followed her…though I still think her ‘friends’ are involved.
    3. Why weren’t these girls…and guys…separated and interrogated? Why were they allowed to leave the state?
    4. This Jenn Oberer, from the start, has been incredibly hostile and indifferent towards Brittanee….not that they all haven’t been to some degree. Why did we hear, early on, that Jenn had ties/friends to Georgetown/Charleston….but then heard nothing more about it? Did/Does she have ties to this area? Would she be comfortable driving in this area? Moreover, if we can track Brittanee’s phone pings to Georgetown, why can’t we see who else had a phone ping in that time and area…and all the areas Brittanee had been? Seems like a no-brainer to me….there can’t be that many people who traveled from Myrtle Beach to Williamsburg Co to Charleston Co, and back to Georgetown all in 2 hours time.

  42. Gerta says:

I’ve often wondered how the “kids” that she went down with weren’t held accountable for why they had a minor in the car/hotel with them. They knew that she was underage and still took her along. Holding them accountable to whatever extent the law would allow would have shaken loose more information that might have helped the investigation. I pray for this little girl and still hope for her safe return.

  43. Allison says:

I am in MB right now and I wanted to check on any updates on her. I think it is terribly sad that this girl dissappeared and it doesn’t look good on a safe return. I feel bad for her family. The people she came down here with must know what happen to her, because in another article I read, her mother said the others haven’t even spoke to her or grieved over what happen. I would feel terrible to bring a friend with me and they go missing especially at 17.

It is a good idea to see if other people’s cell phones were in the same areas that Brittanee’s was in around the same time. She came in contact with 7 people during her stay, she hung out with them and stayed with them, so that is 7 possible suspects, they seriously should check those cell phones.

If she was drowned or “dumped” in the Santee River, her body should have resurfaced by now, also if her sunglasses were found like in another report I read, she was there at some point in time.

I hope for her return and to help her family have closure. They need to know if she is alive or dead and the person who took her away from her family and friends needs to been punished by the law. They should be able to pin it on her friends’ some how, they know what happen to her and I fully believe that.

I’m hoping that this family finds closure soon. Some new leads came in recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nV_G2kSr44A&playnext_from=TL&videos=-NOHaZkO83g&feature=sub

Hello everybody , just wanted to remember little Brittanee today , a whole year has passed and it seems like a life time and just yesterday at the same time , I am so sad another beautiful young girl has been taken from us , I think the “friends ” know something they are not telling , and this jen oberer seems to have an intense hatred of Brittanee that seems out of place for a missing presumed dead girl , the comments that she left on her facebook were vile and almost gleeful that Brittanee was missing , my understanding is they have only spoken to these “kids ” via the phone ummm maybe a face to face might reveal some clue as to what happened that fateful night , not sure if they are involved or not but talk to the cops one on one and see if you can help in anyway , home come I do not think for one minute ” the friends ” want to help or show any compassion or respect to Brittanee or her suffering family . Strength and peace to the family and truth and justice for little miss Brittanee . Blink merci cheri for all your dear heart does, and I like your saucy answers too !

Just wondering if anything has become yet of the remains that were found in Julian, NC this month. I know that Brittanee is not the only white female missing but it caught my attention I guess because it was a “Carolina” and the remains were said to be those of a white female, late teens to early twenties, and approx. 5 feet tall, which as we all know, Brittanee fits all of the above. I did check the area by a map and by car, Myrtle Beach to Julian, NC is about a 4 1/2 hour drive, so… I don’t know, just hope she is found soon or if she is alive and a runaway, wakes up and at least calls her mom and lets her know that she is ok.
