MISSING AND ENDANGERED OCOEE WOMAN: TRACY OCASIO LAST SEEN LEAVING ORLANDO BAR WITH MAN ON VIDEO

Posted by BOC Staff | Missing Persons,Tracy Ocasio | Friday 29 May 2009 9:36 am

Orlando, FL– 27 year old Tracy E. Ocasio has been missing since leaving the Taproom Bar in Orlando at approximately 1:30am Wednesday. (UPDATE: OCASIO WAS SPOTTED ON SURVEILLANCE AND THE MAN WITH HER HAS BEEN QUESTIONED)

Tracy

Tracy, who resides on New Victor Rd, Ocoee, left the bar at “last call” and her car was found abandoned on Frankin Street in Ocoee. The homeowners on the property where the vehicle was found called Police saying there was a car parked there that did not belong to them.

Elizabeth Ocasio, Tracy’s Mother, is frantic:

“She’s missing. Nobody has seen her or heard from her,” said Ocasio.

“She goes there every Magic game, and she cheers for the Magic, and afterward, she texts everybody she knows and says, ‘Go Magic.’ Apparently, that didn’t happen after this game.”

“I honestly don’t think she would be going on her own. She was so involved in cheering for the Magic. She would definitely want to see the game tonight (Thursday).”

Orlando police will not comment if they consider Ocasio’s disappearance  suspicious or if she is in danger. But they ask anyone who has seen her to call police at 321-235-5300.

Are there any security cams around or in this bar or parking lot? Feel terrible for her mom…….hope she is found safe.
There are, but I am not hearing much more on this, which is odd.

ah…:( what a beautiful lady…what’s up with our world?
I am going to proffer a guess that lovely ladies (or any) should not leave a bar late by themselves, most especially one where she is known to be at for Magic games. I would like to know how she appeared to the other patrons when she left, etc.

Thank you Blink to my response. My daughter is home from college for summer break and she made a comment earlier this morning; “I would not have to worry if I was ugly”! We have taught her to be diligent, aware of her surroundings, and travel in groups! I cannot imagine what this mother must be going through….somebody would just have to shoot me!

I find it strange that there just isn’t more information out there for this gorgeous woman…but I am guessing you have the inside information, and for that I am grateful. Whomever you are Blink….there just isn’t enough like you. God Bless you for standing strong and following so many of these horrific stories as detailed as you do!

Ty Kindly, if you never hear me say anything else, tell your daugher never, under any circumstances does she leave a bar alone. We have to travel by 2 people, if you eliminate the opportunity you eliminate the crime.

ok Blink, i read the mom link and she didn’t go to the game. she goes to the bar to cheer on the team. i’m having problems with this entire thing. weather she went there with friends or not shouldn’t matter. apparently she was a regular there if thats where she went every game. the service staff or bartender should know her by now. i’m thinkin’ they’ve been questioned by now. i’ve been known as a regular in a bar in my day and was on first (and last) name bases with all who worked there. thats how ya get the hook-up on cheap drinks. 27 and livin’ with moms. there is nothing wrong with that, but sometimes a girl needs time to herself. maybe she just took off for a wild weekend? jeez now i sound like a cop.

Blink is right, go in at least pairs or more, get home prior to midnight and don’t let anyone seperate you from your group. Choose a member of the group that does not consume alchol and designate them to be in charge of behavior and driving.
We live in an ugly society and all the ugly ones come out to prey on the unwary from 11:00 P.M. until daylight.

  11. Scoop says:

    Excuse moi?

This woman was probably abducted while going to her car… It happens all the time! That, or she was drugged before leaving the bar and kidnapped from the parking lot. I’ve even heard of women drugged in a bar and dragged out the backdoor and stuffed in a waiting car… they act like they’re friends trying to help her. No one’s the wiser.

A woman has every right to drink as long as she wants in a bar, but there should be bouncers and\or LE at the bars to see that this doesn’t happen!

If you’re going alone… Arm yourselves, Ladies! If nothing else, get a tazer. I’ve been there, I’m sure we all have at one time or an other. The rules haven’t changed, nor have the tricks… in fact, it’s gotten worse. Owners of these bars need to be held more responsible. Many women who are abducted are visiting on the job, staying in hotel rooms and never admit what happened to them. Besides, the abductor COULD be a grandpa, no offense to anyone, on Viagra… and it’s simply not true that the pretty ones are all gone and all that’s left are the ugly. The most beautiful women come out AFTER 2am.

I hit the bar when ever I feel like going… which isn’t that
often and never pick anyone up. If I’m alone, I ask the bouncers
to walk me to my car and have given up on trusting ANYONE else
to walk me… and that goes double if I’m alone. Bars are dangerous ANYTIME of day and night.

    ;)

    Try not to be alone…

  13. Red Ranger says:

I have been looking around on line a bit. There are tons of idiosyncrasies to so many things. I can’t quite put my finger on anything that is just wrong but things are odd.

This girl drinks at a bar about eight miles from her home in another city while supporting the Magic. She disappears but her car is found about a mile from her home. The odds on her car making it back that close to her home during a random abduction are slim.

The house she lives in is on a lake. Anyone familiar with real estate values in the Orlando area will let you know that this big, nice home on a lake is valued at a minimum of $300k. Three years ago it would be pushing $500k. It is listed in the mid $250 range.

All of the residents of her home have English Elizabethan names except one. His name is Hispanic. They do all share the same last name. This last name is shown to be both Hispanic and Irish in it’s origins. Tracy is not listed as a resident there.

In her earlier picture she looked like a softball player. Her new look is drastically different. I do understand that people change over the years but it is a drastic change.

Her apparent childlike innocence and fervor in supporting her Magic is also odd for a single girl. I am curious as to the background of her fanaticism. Is their a connection that is so far unreported to the Magic? Is she known to be slow, dimwitted, or childlike in other areas of her life? Please understand I am asking, not victim bashing in any way.

Like I said, nothing appears wrong or bad in all this stuff. Just so much of it is a few degrees off kilter. Blink, I am waiting for your Ocoee locals to weigh in. Someone must know more about this girl, her lifestyle, etc. (Insert scratching my head and saying Hmmmm icon here)

Incidentally, TES held a SAR training seminar about 2-3 miles from her home. Talk about irony.

I researched the house, etc yesterday as well, so I can confirm what you said. However, she is indeed listed as a resident of that home. Was where the car was found “enroute” to her home? Who saw her last at the Bar? Did she leave by herself? Who was she talking to when she was there? Does she have a BF? Not speculating, but this distance is just as far as it would take for someone that had been drugged to be “out”. Who would she let drive her home? Who would she offer a ride to that said they live near her?
I want someone to tell me about her cell phone. OPD is notorious for clammering up when they should be talking. Sorry, but true, ask the Kesse’s.

I read in Orlando’s local paper’s comments section that this women was arrested 5 years for grand theft auto. Not that an arrest warrants her being victimized AT ALL. I just thought maybe she might have a past that could explain her decision making skills or perhaps an alternate conclusion. TR

TR, that charge was dismissed without charges or any other lessers. She has no criminal record.

  15. Red Ranger says:

Hey Blink, My page does not show her there by the name Tracy. I am sure your page is better though. The Taproom location she was at is only about 5 miles from her house. The home that her car was found at is not on her way home but not very far out of the way either. The articles I have read all seem to hint that she was a regular at the bar and almost adopted like the bar’s little sister. I find that odd also because every available male with a pulse would have been hitting on her when I was that age back in the stone age. If she did not have a BF it is because she did not want one.

You can count on it that someone knows her movements, who she sat with, amount of alcohol consumption, has access to what time her tab was paid, if she was walked out to her car and by who, etc. I am sure all of this information is in the possesion of LE at this point.

I agree with you that the new wave LE MO of sharing nothing with the public that they ask for help is enough to make you spit nails sometimes.

The Kesse’s… At what point does LE start to release some information? The longer they clam up, the colder the trail gets. I really feel for her family and those who loved her.

Ugh, I cannot even think about the Kesse’s today and maintain a degree of focus. That case is my achilles heel. Well, one of them. Anyone wonder why I am so into Roman metaphors these days? Odd.

  16. TR says:

According to a MyFox Orlando, she left the bar “with a man” who has been identified and questioned. No comment was made as to whether he is considered a suspect. Seems strange she should make it so close to home then something happened. It sounds like her car was left in a residential area–so I’m sure they scouted that neighborhood and/or ruled out car trouble. I’m suspicious of this “man” they have mentioned. TR

I was just stopping back to update that, I know, bad news. Somebody better leak that dudes name in a hurry
    B

  17. Red Ranger says:

Your Roman metaphors is a mind trick. You have recently been all over a case where the Victim’s family is very old school strong Italian. Some stereotypes came in to play and your whirring mind blends up and spits out things that it is kicking around. Are you also craving thin crust pizza, stone floors, and Frascati?

Or maybe it’s just a coincidence.

    LOL. Maybe.

  18. TR says:

Anybody know if Tracy is a mother? There’s a substantial weight difference between the two pics I’ve seen of her–looks like she may have been pregnant at one point?
Also, I wonder when she normally did her “Go Magic” texting….right after the game,or when she returned home from the event? It sounds like it generally happened earlier. This seems to indicate a break from her normal routine at the bar.I wonder if she was spending time with this man throughout the night?

I do not believe she is, and no records I found led me to believe she is a mom.

  21. Scoop says:

    Red Ranger:

I get the feeling that she is young for her age. Innocent and Lonely. Maybe the only friends she thought she had were at the bar and she met with them to watch basketball and drink beer. I don’t see anything weird about her… and I also agree that she was abducted. I’d check all the bar credit card receipts, first… then move on to the video. You need to look for a tall man, about 6’5″ conservative in the way he carries himself. Medium brown hair and a light, plaid shirt. I’d say he’s about 32-38 years old. He could have been waiting for her IN her car, too. I’d, definitely, look for fingerprints on the outside of the car, especially, the driver’s door.

  22. Amy says:

I live down the street from where Tracy lives. the area where her car was found is NOT a good area AT ALL and is NOT a normal route one would take from Metrowest (where the bar was) to her house. My question is that did she go to someone’s house (maybe the guy she left with) before heading home? if so, she could have travelled on the 429 and that would exit her onto franklin street about a 1/2 mile from where her car was found. i drove to where her car was located today and my best friend and I walked around for 2 hours in that area looking for any signs of her. LOTS of abandoned and run down homes/businesses.. Her car was left by the traintracks – we walked up and down them… I think either she took the 429 home after going somewhere after the bar, and maybe stopped at a gas station right there and maybe someone got into her car and something happened then.. I also noticed that NO WHERE in that area were there flyers other than the tree where her car was located.. i plan to try and put some out tomorrow.
Maybe the police know if she used her ATM/debit card after the bar.. Also can they get the pings from her cell phone before it shut off?

Amy- thanks for posting this info. Any rumors swirling as to the dude’s ID? If your concerned about putting it out publicly, you can post it here and I will delete it until I can verify it, or not mention it at all and just run it down.
So Im clear, off the 429 this is the exit she would take to her house?
    B

  23. Stephanie says:

What makes you think the man is 6’5″, conservative, brown hair and a light brown shirt? Are you making that all up or did you read that somewhere? Just wondering. If you’re trying to guess down to even the plaid shirt, that’s hilarious.

  24. Red Ranger says:

Hey Scoop, I am not saying there was anything weird about her. I am saying a lot of things about her and her famlies life do not add up to totally even. Nothing I can place my finger on as bad or wrong. Can you link me to the information about the man that is 6’5″ with the plaid shirt? I did read on Fox Orlando that the man she was seen with on video has been located and questioned. I am sure the car has been processed as well.

Her car made it back to within a mile of her home. You can count on it that her abductor lives within a few blocks of the car drop off site or is connected to the area in a strong way.

Scoop, you speak as if you have some inside info. If you know her or her family and get some idea where to look just say so. The cavalry will show up.

Scoop- I agree, Red Ranger has cavalry pals, honest :)

    Good morning!

I’m curious why her mom hasn’t offered up new photos (more recent, different poses) of Tracy to the media?
Why are they only using her drivers license photo which appears to be outdated judging by her myspace pic.

There’s no new information from the media and we still don’t know anything about her boyfriend, exboyfriend, place of employment, coworkers, or anything else that could help with tips.

    hmmmmm……

I agree drumstick, way too quiet considering OPD caught her on video with a man they questioned as a result.

  26. Brenda in Virginia says:

Was she a drug user? Not a “druggie” so to speak, but maybe casual user and had stopped in that area to buy marijuana or something else considered a less “heavy” substance?

Any more word on the man who was interviewed she left the bar with?

  27. Red Ranger says:

Hey Drumstick, LE is releasing nothing. The local media has not done an update since a few days ago. Is this girl’s destiny to disappear into oblivion with her final entry just being a statistic?

Hey Blink, If she was going home from the Taproom it would have been way out of the way for her to go to the 429. Note that there are many wooded areas, lakes, ponds and fields with 3-4′ tall grass in the whole area between all three of the locations we are discussing.

Well then, does that mean whomever dropped her car off dumped it to the closest ext off 429?
Any toll cams on that route?
    B

  28. sweetpea says:

When I was in twenties and single I was considered quite the hottie, I had a regular bar that I went to for the social aspect (not to pick up guys). Mainly because it did not take long before the regulars took their shot and realized it wasn’t going anywhere, they became more like brothers (protective). But still always had the bartender walk me out.

My question is did the camera’s show her walking out of the bar with this guy and leaving in seperate cars. She could have been following someone and he pulled in front of a random house. “Where do you live?” “I live right by there, why don’t you follow me and stop by for a night cap on your way home?” I can so hear that kind of bar chit chat going on.

  29. Granny says:

I find the posted picture of this gal quite provocative….way too much skin!
The pic from 5 yrs ago was beautiful.

The poster from TX whose daughter thought if she was ugly she’d have no worries in these regards needs to let her in on the fact that often times beauty has little to do with it. I think looking provacative DOES!

This young lady needs a big dose of prayer as does the entire family.

  30. sweetpea says:

BTW- when I say night cap, not knowing what this girl is into that could mean anything. Drink-Meth-Coke-Pot- who knows these days.
This girl does not appear to me to be your average girl next door, that pic is a definate pose; up against the wall, squatted down, not your normal miss innocent look.

I am in no way implying deserving, just maybe would be more prone to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    Today’s update.

Drumstick, is that article very poorly written, or does it quote an officer saying “he’s an alright” guy, and if so, does that mean he’s a cop?
    B

  32. Red Ranger says:

Hey Blink, if they were on the 429, exited at Franklin, and did not pay the toll to exit there would have been a photo snapped of the back of the car. Note that the 429 does go down to I-4 on the south end. I-4 has cameras in multiple places. Off the top of my head I can think of cameras around the 62 to 66 mile markers. Also around the rest stop at around the 46-47 mile marker. Also around the 38 mile marker. This would only be if they were heading toward Tampa, or God forbid, the Green Swamp. The 429 hits I-4 at about the 60 mile marker. This is about 18 miles south of Ocoee.

I think it is all irrelevant because I do not think they ever went to the 429. Just an opinion. If I was her my normal route home would have been Hiawasse to Silver Star. To get the where her car ended up, it would have been quickest to go Hiawassee to the Old Winter Garden road. I reckon there are tons of cameras along there. If LE is taking this seriously they have gathered some footage of her route. Incidentally, is that Mustang the car she drove to the bar?

  33. Stephanie says:

I read it and I think its poorly written.

  34. Red Ranger says:

Also, the first thing LE seems to check now is the transponder for toll roads and cell phone pings. I do not know if she had a transponder but the Toll gestapo makes it lucrative to have one. They punish you with higher tolls if you do not. I have not seen any of this reported. I have seen little reported beyond “she is a Magic fan, She is missing and she left the bar with an alright guy”. They need to slow this info flow down. I cannot process it all at one time.

This for those that don’t know you, is smartass 101.
Astute lingo for, wtf is with the hush hush-?
    B

  35. melissab says:

Does it seem to ya’ll that nobody but her parents think anything is wrong? They are requesting cell records? I’m sure LE has them…don’t they? Did LE not bother to do much because they think this may be some stunt on the girls part? Blink, what up?

  36. Annals says:

Who chose this photo to circulate of a missing woman? And why was this particular shot chosen? No one could miss that she’s in a squat with spilling breasts and WIDE OPEN thighs, looking into the camera lense with a satisfied smile.

Is this photo accurate in it’s portrial of Tracy Ocasio’s demeanor? If so, she’s an adult who is clearly advertising sexual availability.
I am just saying in words what this photo is saying visually.

This is not an image of a girl who faithfully reports home to Mommy. I am not saying she does not report to Mommy; what I am saying is that this photo tells a thousand words contrary to the story told by the mother.

Again I ask, who chose this photo and why?

  37. PamTX says:

I just clicked on the link (from #32 – drumstick)and find the comment by Tracy’s mother very odd:

“Please come home. We just want her to come home.”

I find the first part of this statement odd regarding a daughter that may possibly have been abducted. IMO it is a very direct statement to her daughter, followed by a plea. When I first read this statement I got a very different feeling about this entire case. I hope and pray that if she was abducted that she is found….quickly! Disturbed by the lack of information provided by LE in a possible abduction case such as this! The mothers statement bothers me though, and I am not sure why.

  38. Amy says:

I do think that IF she was coming from the 429 (which she would not do as a direct route from the Tap Room, however if she pitstopped at someone’s house up in apopka or elsewhere) she could use that exit (Franklin/Plant st) to go home. There is another exit off the 429 north of there, however if she needed gas or a gas station she’d go to the franklin exit. there’s a gas station at the corner of maguire and Franklin which is right down from where her car was found. I would hope the cops have questioned the staff and reveiewed their cameras for any sighting of her (or her car which we still have NO details about for some reason). Again, not a route if SHE were coming STRAIGHT from tap room to home, but since right now we don’t know where she went afterwards (if anywhere) – i’m only speculating as a plausible reason why she would be over in that part of Ocoee. I am still trying to use my few connections to get some details, but haven’t gotten any – or any info as to the identity of the guy she left with….

    Amy-

    B

  42. Amy says:

Sorry incorrect spelling above. His name is James Virgil Hataway

    link to article:
    http://www.wftv.com/news/19629035/detail.html

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Late Monday night, Ocoee police arrested the last person to see Tracy Ocasio. James Virgil Hataway was booked into the Orange County Jail on drug paraphernalia charges.
Orange County deputies will resume the search for a missing 27-year-old Ocoee woman early Tuesday morning.
Hataway has not been charged in Ocasio’s disappearance, but investigators believe he knows something that he’s not telling.
Investigators want to search an area near West Franklin Street in Ocoee because that is where Tracy Ocasio’s car was found abandoned outside of a home. She has been missing since last Wednesday and her family has posted fliers throughout the area.
One interesting aspect about the man police arrested is that he lives approximately 150 yards from the house where the car was found.
Police arrested Hataway at his home on drug charges. They also searched for Ocasio’s cell phone, car keys and wallet.
Hataway was the last person to see the 27-year-old. The two had only known each other about one week when Ocasio gave Hataway a ride home early Wednesday morning after a Magic playoff game.
Investigators say Hataway claims that Ocasio left right away, around 2:30am. However, cell phone records show she was in this area until 8:30am Wednesday morning.
Now, Ocasio’s mother fears the worst.
“I’m beginning to think something serious might have happened to her and I’m just praying I’m wrong,” said the missing woman’s mother, Elizabeth Ocasio.
At this point, investigators are only calling Hataway a person of interest. They did not find any of Tracy Ocasio’s belongings in his home. They also hope to get more information out of him before he can bond out of jail.

  43. Amy says:

Here is James Hataway’s current inmate record

  44. Derrick says:

yes but i realy shouldnt have put that, it wasnt necessary, sorry. im sure she wouldve done a little background check so to say on any “new” friends, from the time ive known her there has not been any toole around…

For what it’s worth, I got the feeling the “friend” side of the equation was on his side. If you read his comments carefully, he says he would text her and she would return the text “yeah”. I found his comments more defensive of Hataway. I would like to know how he knew Hataway was the guy on the tape in the first place.
    B

  45. Derrick says:

Tracy and Hataway about a month ago and she rejected him…sooooo theres alot that needs to be said and brought up but i dont know if im the one to doso also some of these remarks about her picture are a little rude, just because pictures are taken doesnt explain anything about that person whatsoever

Derrick, can I reach you a this email? I have not seen any rude comments about Tracy on here, not on my site, if so, I will delete. This is a victim’s advocate site, I have written about Tracy’s case when nobody else would. I want her found. Hang In my friend.
    B

  46. Derrick says:

Hataway also says she dropped me off then goes to say that they hung out, WELL HOW THE HELL DO YOU HANG OUT WITH THE PERSON THAT JUST DROPPED YOU OFF??!!

  47. Annals says:

Derrick; it may be that one of the comments about the picture of Tracy which you feel is rude was written by me, comment #37. I did not write it in order to be critical of a potential victim. I wrote that comment asking specific questions; “Is this photo typical of Tracy’s demeanor? Who chose to publicize this particular photo? And why was THIS picture chosen for the purpose of the general public recognizing her?”

The choice of a sexually suggestive photo for the purpose of recognizing a missing woman is so unusual that it’s downright odd. The answers to my questions might be revealing.

You may have answered one of the questions. If you are saying that this photo does not explain anything about Tracy; then may I assume you are saying that this photo is NOT typical of her demeanor? If so, the answers to my other two questions have just become more relivant.

This picture DOES tell a story. It’s a sex attraction story. And if that is not how Tracy typically appears (in sexual poses), then a photo which presents a false impression of Tracy has been chosen to be publicized and circulated. If so, that’s not just odd; it’s actually misleading and wrong. That is what drives my questions.

Why was this picture chosen and who made this choice?

  48. Derrick says:

more than likely they had to chose that picture because her myspace page was set to private which therefor leaves them that picture im sure the person that made it was somebody that wasnt a true friend….like a few people are trying to do in this case..im not talking about anybody here so dont take that the wrong way. and im also done on any info on this story..

im leaning on the assumption that toole is more of a friend to hataway than tracy, just a thought…
