I am so sorry that yet another innocent child dies. I have only commented one other time and it was on this same case. I stated then that her mother signed Nevaeh’s death warrant. So, my sympathies do not go out to her mother nor her grandmother who knew very well of the danger Nevaeh was exposed to while befriending a pedophile. My heart hurts for this beautiful little girl who I don’t believe ever had a happy day in her life. My heart hurts because her last moments on this earth were filled with pain and fear. My heart hurts because this DID NOT HAVE TO HAPPEN!

Talk about injustice, although not as severe as little Nehaeh’s situation…we have a local women from Giles Co. who is married to a county deputy. She has been charged and convicted of indecent exposure to 2 little boys she was BABYSITTING. One boy testified he “saw her breasts at least 12 times” and that she would put her shirt over his head and had no bra on. What the other boy testified to wasn’t released. Guess what? She got convicted of TWO COUNTS so no SOR membership for her. Isn’t justice sweet? Why not a count for EACH offense???? My guess…she’s a Giles Co. deputy’s wife hand in hand with horrible parents.

Mother of one of the boys declared this babysitter “did nothing wrong.” HUH??? The TV showed the woman and BOTH boys leaving the court together and she was holding their hand. I am sickened. She is a pedophile and free now to do whatever without fear of anything. not only, but she’s APPEALING the case.

As I said, America MUST WAKE UP! We are either moral and uphold the values we were founded on or we throw morals out the window.

I emailed state police SOR who basically said we can do nothing unless she has 3 counts against her. I also emailed the sheriff of that county who did not respond. Being she’s married to his deputy, I had hoped for something…but then again…maybe he’s overwhelmed with this right now due to press covereage?

This may show both my age and foolishness, but I sort of blame the easy access of internet child porn for what seems to me to be an explosion of crimes against children. People see things and think that 1. these things are done by many and 2. that they can get away with it because others have gotten away with it. BrendainVA, if you are taking up a collection for rope, I am in the mood this morning to make a contribution.

How exactly do you extract a dead body from cement? the flesh is decomposing so chipping away with a chisel would also take the decomposing flesh. It has been ten days. I have searched the net and can not find any previous description of ME’s effort to do the same. May be very difficult to prove any previous sexual assualts from Moms SO friends. When you think of some one being covered by cement you would imagine the body would be compressed from the wieght of the cement depending on the state of decomposition. They would have to x-ray the whole thing first to find part placement. Maybe lazer could be used to cut cement away? Certianly no superficial skin evidence will exist. I want to see a picture or the cement. Blink can you get a picture of the cement? Does any one know of previous autopsy of being encased in cement?

    Blink,
Kennedy failed part of the lie detector test as did the mother, correct?

The only thing more heartbreaking and despicable would be the failure of justice being served to the perps. God rest this poor child’s soul.

You know if the perp was in the middle east- he would have been publicly executed the first time! – for obvious reasons they dont have the epidemic of these horrific crimes as we do-nor do they have ” repeat” offenders

-I so wish for the day that we finally do something drastic with the laws here- Does anyone at all know who to write to ? who are the “lawmakers” anyway? I also wish I knew what kind of drugs are they on to think that an 18 month sentence & registration of an address should be sufficient for ruining a human being for life.

  10. Cheryl says:

lethal injection is so peaceful- I dont think who ever did this deserves a laying down & going to sleep type of death- IMO. I noticed on the news some rape victim only 11yrs old- had to be hospitalized, & the person of interest was beaten by a mob of people.- perhaps the solution would be to allow the public to have rein over these folks & they would at least live in fear instead of so protected by the laws – Im just blown away that at least once a month if not once a week a little child goes missing- & to whom do they usually end up with?? sex offenders- Does any law makers see this epidemic on our hands or have people become so complacent? so desensitized because its part of our daily headlines.- geesh I just dont know who to write to or who to wake up

  11. Gypsy DD says:

Well as far as better laws go ..good luck….people in Neveah’s State now have a platform for reform, I hope they use it for that.. However in that State the reform that is on it’s way in a few short weeks is that due to prison crowding a huge number of RSO’s are being released back into the community. Will we never learn, will justice ever prevail?

Sorry, I am feeling very sick and cynical this morning after hearing of little Neveah’s sad demise.

To all the people saying whoever the “man” is who did this..WELL I TOOK A STEP BACK..I BELIEVE THE MOM WILL BE ARRESTED , NOT AS ACCESSORY TO MURDER, BUT FOR THE MURDER ITSELF. She may have had help with the disposal, but I believe she is the person who did this. No trauma to the body suggests a soft kill, someone who knew this sweet child. Possibly suffocation in my opinion.

Mom has changed her story and the time line so many times that one is lead to believe she knew the whole time what happened to Neveah. Not hard to believe when she left her in the car as a baby while robbing an auto dealership.

The body was not encased in cement..a whole was dug, she was put in, and cement was poured over her….it cracked when the fisherman’s feet stepped on it. It won’t take long until they ID the body and complete forensics. Justice will be served.
Rest in peace sweet little Neveah.

  12. FairestWitness says:

Gypsy, you could be onto something there. That interview with Jennifer Buchanan looking straight into the camera, saying, “… if she’s out there — somewhere…” I went cold inside. Her facial expression looking so “normal” and calm. She wasn’t in any distress at all. She’s just another sociopath whose child got in the way of her drug habit. I am beginning to understand the commerce between druggie parents and sex offenders. I guess it’s possbile Jennifer killed her own child. God bless that poor tormented little girl. No one can hurt her now.

  13. Tams says:

Gypsy – You and I are thinking alike . . . I, too, have been wondering if something happened to sweet Neveah on JB’s watch – and she called GK in a panic re: what to do now. Thus why JB was ‘wandering’ around for a few hours before reporting the baby missing – waiting for him to finish disposing of the body. He had transportation (van), sounds like he also had access to and knowledge of cement, knew the area & had been ‘fishing’. The blood on the knife was his – would have been easy to cut yourself opening that many bags of cement in a panic & hurry. (It would take ALOT of cement bags to cover a body – it takes 1-2 just to fill a fence post hole).

Makes you go hmmmmmm . . . no? Clearly this baby was completely unsupervised, and it is reported that JB is a drug user. ‘Mom’ could have been completely zoned out when an accident occured & discovered it too late, or the sweet little child could have accidently gotten ahold of /ingested drugs, the list of scenarios goes on & on when thinking of a little 5 year old running free throughout the apartment complex & apparently even as far as the park & ‘store’.

Any way that you try to piece it together, JB is ultimately responsible, one way or the other. Despicable.

  14. June Bug says:

Red Ranger, I am starting your fan club! I couldn’t put into words what I was feeling. Hate for the perps AND the parents. Distress over what precious Nevaeh must have endured before her death. Confusion over WHY a simple solution to deter repeat offenders is elusive. Thank you for taking the time to articulate what so many of us are feeling.

Oh yes. I feel hate. An abundance of pure hatred for everyone who contributed to Nevaeh’s death.

  15. June Bug says:

Pardon my rant, but this shed’s some light, for me, on little Hailey’s case. Once again, parents who run with a low life crowd endanger their children. There seems to be a common denominator where a lot of these missing children cases are concerned. I am NOT referring to stranger abduction cases such as Adam Welsh or Polly Klaas. I AM RERERRING to parents who exercise no judgment when it comes to their lifestyle and the demons they expose their precious children too.

Only way we will ever chg the laws is to vote OUT those currently in office who do nothing and have no intention of doing anything other than enjoying the notariety of their position.

IMO, ANY time a sex offender gets a light sentence, and that’s most of the time…we as parents, concerned citizens…and AMERICANS must stand outside those courts and protest. These judges who allow the light sentences MUST be named in the news and the scum lawyers who fight for the pathetic sentences releaved as what they are….monsters who are holding hands with the pedophile monsters they represent.

Also, I forgot I wanted to say that just voting people in or out of office is not really effective. Everybody who runs is a politician whose main reason for living is reelection. Blink, you said early on that you suspected this child had been abused for quite some time. I am sad to say, you are right.

  25. bluewillow says:

If it were up to public opinion, do you think SOs would ever have the chance to offend again? It is obvious to almost everyone what is right, but we have no voice.

People wonder if these things are happening more these days or we just hear about it more. We know that crime is a part of mankind’s history from the beginning and where mankind is, crime exists. However, there is the matter of degree! What percentage of the public suffers as the victims of crime makes a difference!

These things happen, but to what extent they *proliferate* depends upon the society and how they deal with it when it happens. I believe we have encouraged the proliferation of these crimes by our STUPID philosophy of giving endless second chances to criminals who have proven themselves to be dangerous to others. So many crimes are committed by the same people! Think how many crimes we could prevent by just simply stopping the criminal after the first crime!

Secondly, we know that most of these abusers were abused themselves. A certain number of victims are damaged in such a way that they go on to follow in the abuser’s footsteps. Think of how many crimes we could prevent if we were preventing SOs from putting these children, the ones who identify with and copy their abusers, at risk?

Between just these two things, think how much safer our society could be!

When I was a child, these things were rare. Yes, evil still existed and people committed crimes but not to this extent. I believe this crime wave began in the 60′s when we came up with the idea that we could “rehabilitate” criminals and liberalized our laws and criminal’s rights. In my mind, when Richard Speck murdered those 8 nurses was when the floodgates opened, and it’s been downhill ever since.

WHEN ARE OUR LAWMAKERS GOING TO FACE THAT THIS EXPERIMENT HAS BEEN A COLOSSAL FAILURE AND TAKE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT AND VULNERABLE SERIOUSLY?

I’m sorry. Off my soapbox now. I am just past disgust with these crimes and deep into anger. And I don’t believe I am the only one. It is time that our laws were changed and the most innocent and defenseless among us were considered worthy of protection.

And, I’m sorry but I think before we get angry with God, we need to look at what we are doing ourselves to prevent and deal with this.

  26. A Texas Grandfather says:

All children who live in similar circumstances are at risk. They didn’t ask to be born into such an environment, but until we improve our system of justice and get all the sex perverts off the street and locked up or removed from the planet, this will be repeated over and over.
Drugs, alcohol and sex all put together spell a disaster in the making for people who indulge this lifestyle. We are seeing more and more female involvement in crimes of this nature.

I know I may be speculating a bit, but that poster really says a lot. I have two amazing parents so it is hard for me to even try to think how that must feel. it is just so unfair to be dealt a hand like that in life… and look how this one ended…
The mom looks more guilty to me by the minute…

  29. FairestWitness says:

Heri, that little Valentine broke my heart. The most tragic part is that both of Nevaeh’s parents were alive. That they were not love to her speaks volumes, doesn’t it?

Her uncaring, non-child support paying, absentee father lived less than 25 miles away and hadn’t bothered to spend one day with her in over 2 years. He was that close, 25 LOUSY MILES. Close enough to drive over every single day if he was so inclined. Close enough to take her for a McDonald’s Happy Meal or a Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cone. He hadn’t done one damn thing with or for that beautiful child in over 2 years. And I suspect he was never a part of her life, from the beginning because Nevaeh didn’t have the man’s last name. Why is that?

Her drugged out/drunken, home burgling, sex offender dating, lazy pig of a mother totally neglected this child. She’s been slurring her words all over the airwaves and TV since Nevaeh disappeared. Talk about a walking/talking advertisement for sterilization. The woman is total garbage. She didn’t even has legal custody of this little girl.

The way in which Nevaeh was buried with concrete poured over her body is really strange, isn’t it? What was the reason for that? Why not just bury her? I don’t understand this.

  30. HERI says:

I totally agree. I do not think the dad was in her life at all. Plus, from the interviews he has done that I have seen, he looks like a “Monday Morning Quarterback”.

About the cement, well, I can only speculate. I mean maybe it was something thought well through that didn’t pan out, or maybe they were just thinking that the cement would prevent any decomposition odors… But this is just shooting from the hip…

I THINK THE MURDER OF THESE PRECIOUS CHILDREN IS SO SICK. WHEN THEY CATCH THE CREEP WHO DID THIS, I THINK IT SHOULD BE THE RIGHT OF THE FAMILY TO IMPOSE THE PROPER PUNISHMENT!!! SHACKLE THEIR HANDS AND FEET, PUT THEM IN A BOX AND POUR CEMENT ON TOP OF THEM. SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF THIS PERSON JUST LIKE HE (OR THEY) DID TO THIS BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRL. ROT IN HELL YOU A HOLE CREEP!!!

  32. Liz says:

I heard on the news this evening that the parents of the little boy that Nevaeh had been playing with said that she had been up in their apt. around 4:30pm but that her mom had come and gotten her to go to the store. Then she went missing around 6pm. If this is true, it contradicts JB’s account of what happened.. (that she was supposed to be up at the little boy’s apt. and not outside in the parking lot)which makes it a lot harder to believe any words that come out of her mouth. Do you know which of these accounts is more accurate, Blink?

  33. kccritic says:

  35. dddeerma says:

Liz’s comment above is very interesting. Does it mean that mom is not being truthful or only that she is telling what happened after they got back from the store? I remember that Easter the early morning bonfire maker told the media that he was questioned about seeing Nevaeh and her mom at Target (?). This all seems similar to the Cummings fiasco in FL> relatives stealing donations from each other, the sex and drug aspects. Children do not belong in these situations. (geez, talk about an obvious statement..) Also, what was that about a note found in Kennedy’s room at the hotel? Any truth to that? Anybody?

  36. FairestWitness says:

Hi Blink, you’ve done a great job of reporting on this tragic case. I hope some changes will be made to SO laws.

I saw former prosecutor Wendy Murphy on Jane Velez-Mitchell and she gave a very forceful, passionate plea directly to President Barack Obama to do something about this. She said if Nevaeh had been the victim of swine flu, Obama would have made a statement. If she’d been a Muslim girl, then there’d be a statement from the WH. Why not for this innocent child? She really hit the nail on the head as far as I’m concerned.

Do you know if the Monroe PD has been able to corroborate Jennifer Buchanan’s account of Nevaeh’s disappearance? Do they have any witnesses to her riding her “scooter” in the street? Did anyone see her playing in the park? Have Monroe police officers talked with the young friend who supposedly came to tell Jennifer that Nevaeh was riding her scooter in the street?

I haven’t heard or read anything that supports Jennifer’s description of her daughter’s disappearance. Have you?

  37. mynamehere says:

Enabler? Accessory ?

  40. FairestWitness says:

Yeah, perish the thought that some actual justice might be meted out to these evil subhumans.

The burial site for poor Nevaeh’s body, with concrete poured over her, seems sophomoric. These have to be the actions of someone with a very low IQ and/or under the influence. Hiding the body of a 5 year child you’ve molested & murdered is predictable. Only a moron would bury her in a shallow grave beside a river and cover it up with badly mixed, improperly cured cement.

This crime was committed by morally bankrupt, druggies and deviants. I’ve just described Jennifer Buchanan and her sex offender friends from the probation office.

  41. A Texas Grandfather says:

There is much discssion about providing changes in the laws regarding people who prey on children and young adults. If you want to have some immediate effect, then form a court watch group in your community and go to the courts and watch what goes on. If the judges know why you are there, they may be a little more reluctant to let these creeps have miminum sentences and parole.
We have developed a political class in our country that is mostly made up of people who make a career out of politics. This is not the type of government our founding fathers planned. Until we term limit most of the offices of government, including courts, we will continue to have a problem with law enforcement and the courts doing the right thing.
About forty states have enacted some form of Jessica’s law, but are the courts applying it? Sexual preditors are for the most part men, but a few are women. Once a sexual preaditor commits a crime and is caught, they should be put away forever. Putting them to sleep forever is a fitting end to such people.

  42. Kaysey says:

I am usually a lurker, but had to comment on this one. I am so angry that it seems no one is holding the “Grandmother with custody” responsible! If JB was only allowed supervised visitation with little Nevaeh, then I hold her accountable too. When given custody, her first responsibility was to follow the law, rules and regulations for the safety, security and well-being for that child! It hits home with me, I have a drug addict sister who doesn’t have custody(only supervised visitation) of her child, the bio father has custody, and he let’s my niece roam day and night with her to who the hell knows wherever! It’s sickening, and one day when something happens , he is to blame too!

    Agreed

  43. sweetpea says:

    Blink-
I think that this hole with cement is an indication that this person
actually knew “Nevaeh”. He/They could have put her anywhere in a hole with cement, or even a box poured cement and put it in the river.

Seems to me this was a makeshift grave, location by a river. As crude as it may appear, it wouldn’t surprise me it they don’t find something in there with her. Like a toy or something she would like.

I realize this was done by an animal, but never underestimate how bizarre a warped mind can be.

I agree. I will not be surprised to learn if her Mother went to Kmart for cement.
There will be multiple arrests in this case, btw.

  44. sunshine12 says:

This is the first time I have commented on this site but I just wanted to give my opinion and theory, which is prob the same as many others, and i apologize if I am repeating things..

I work for child protective services and I feel that clearly this grandmother didn’t do what she needed to do to protect her granddaughter. If i was a cps caseworker that went into that home and found that the grandmother was allowing JB to supervise the child I would remove the child from the home and try to find a suitable relative, if not, foster care would have to be the answer. (PROTECTING THE SAFETY OF INNOCENT CHILDREN COMES FIRST ALWAYS, YOU CANT TAKE CHANCES WITH THE LIVES OF CHILDREN). She was given custody of this sweet angel and it was her job to PROTECT HER, which includes making sure she is supervised around the mother and is not spending time with registered sex offenders. Don’t even get me started on JB…but from my experience I can tell you it’s truly sickening how so many drug addicts choose drugs over their children. I’ve had cases where the child died was being sexually abused by the mother’s boyfriend and EVERYTIME (this is just in my experience and i apologize if I offend anyone who has been in the situation and did believe their child over hte man) the mother has believed the boyfriend over the child, this is not to say this happens all the time, but from my experience I have yet to see a mother believe the child over the man, it’s gut-wrenching and disturbing.

As far as the murder of this innocent angel goes, I believe JB may have been the one that killed her, and had someone else help her move the body. I have seen three cases in my area in the past year in which the parent has snapped and seriously injured or killed their child. What I am having trouble forming an opinion on, is whether I think JB may have killed her while trying to discipline her or lost her temper and the child was killed and then went about covering up what she did, or if it was premeditated. I think the way the body was buried and the fact that there was no visible signs of trauma may indicate that she was smothered to death, which is a crime that someone close to the victim would likely commit. I was also thinking that maybe “they” b/c I totally believe jb had help with this, buried her in a place where they thought they’d be able to come back to and visit the burial ground without anyone knowing that a little innocent child was under the cement… This whole case just makes me sick

I don’t know how to post links, but the story below is just another example of an awful mother. The original story came out a day or two ago, in which this “mother” allowed her two girls to go on truck driving trips with their stepfather. The step-monster fathered a child with the 16-year-old. I am disgusted. Not only do these men need stricter sentencing, but these women need to pay dearly. I am appalled at how many let this happen to their precious children.
