Charlottesville, VA–The disappearance of Morgan Harrington, missing since October 17, 2009 is exhibiting the potential to reach a temperature that is currenlty encompassing the Northeast: VERY COLD.

Through the thousands of posts at blinkoncrime.com and numerous articles covering Morgan, it is clear that frustration in the lack of lead generation and ambiguous statements from the Virginia State Police are causing some to lack conviction Morgan will be found.

In a recent press conference by VSP, LE provided NO NEW information or progress regarding Morgan’s case. In a shift of posture by the Harrington family, Dr. Harrington has begun participating in online chat and sponsored an additional facebook site to help the efforts to find his daughter.

In fact, for the first time in 2.5 months, we know what kind of camera Morgan had with her the evening of the Metallica concert from his research.

AmymaggieIn contrast, we have viewed footage and photos of her dear friends that have clearly moved on without the knowledge of their friends plight.

Girls will  be girls you say? Before one person comes on here to tell me I am being too critical of these young women you should know that due to a fortunate Facebook update, describing these girls as Morgan’s friends is entirely generous.

Furthermore, if you happen to be one of the parents that has provided booze for underage minors captured on digital for all to see you may wish to take a peek at what is on your daughter’s social sites.

Have you thought about what it would be like to be Gil or Dan while your linin’ it up and throwin’ em back WITH your kids?

Fortunately, this is not the focus today. I do not feel Morgan’s friends did anything to directly cause her fate.  They are more “ME” than frienemy, that is evident.

Gil

Gil Harrington, posting on the families site findmorgan.com, wrote one of the most eloquent and courageous posts from the Mother of a missing child I have ever read.

The snowfall is beautiful but still disturbing – melancholy.  Wonder if Morgan is cold – is snow falling on her face – or is her face covered by leaves in a shallow grave being hidden by the snow.  I glance out the window and see the crimson blaze of a cardinal at the bird feeder – my heart leaps for a second at the beauty – then I think its feathers look like blood in the snow.  Is that what Morgan’s blood looks like in the snow?  See how the pitfalls are everywhere – even at the bird feeder.

In a somewhat angst-ridden moment, a poster on blinkoncrime.com suggested any and all witnesses in this case should be subject to repeated Barry Manilow songs until they confess.

Dan

It jogged a memory for me that reminded me that I am proudly my Father’s daughter. Morgan is Dan Harrington’s daughter.

Maybe someone, somewhere, has just not approached that perspective.

In response to the MAN-i-low dis-

Blink prefacing below to say: yes, off topic, and yes, I am on cold meds, but y’all went after the “MAN ilow”.  < ?xml:namespace prefix ="" o />

Barry holds a special place in the heart of my family. When I was a kid I used to play dress up with my Mom’s clothes. If a pair of her way-too-big-for-me heels was “done”, she would let me cut off the ankle straps and dance around in them as slides.

One afternoon, when I should have been doing my homework, I was blaring Copa Cabana in my Parents study dressed like a thriftshop showgirl and  when ” Who could ask for more…at the Copa” part came on, I kicked like a 12 year old Rockette and launched my “slide/RPG” into the ceiling.

There it stayed.

I threw everything I could find at that shoe to dislodge it. Nothing.

Except for the new marks on the scalloped ceiling.

Later, when unbeknownst to me, my Dad was reading his 12 daily newspapers in the study, I thought I might try another idea.

I jumped as hard as I could at the spot upstairs above where the slutslipper was lodged.

It worked on the 3rd try.

How do I know?

I heard a “S o n o f  a …..”  , then something that sounded like a combination of my first and middle names with a swear word interjected that was rising in tone and volume, and now coming my way.

As I hit the hallway to head to the other direction or squeeze myself unnaturally under something, there He was

My Dad, evidence in hand, smiling wryly form ear to ear.

“Yours I presume, young lady,”  his forearm outstretched gently with the nail to my coffin in his palm.

I responded .. “What makes you say that?

Could be ketchup or mustards..”

(Lame editors note: do NOT ask, my sisters and I had bathing suits that matched when we were little that were red, yellow and white, respectively, it stuck to this day, I was Mayo)

He replied .. ” Because I know, this weekend, when you fish out your overalls and help me fix the ceiling before your Mother notices, you would rather do that than whatever she comes up with  so we can be all done here. The End. ( Blink dad making the wipe hands clean gesture)

She has been talking about repainting the Family room for months, I would LOVE some help with that…”

“Yes Sir.”  I muttered with a matching grimace.

“Can I have it back?” I asked.

“I would say your dancing days are on hold, dear daughter, for the foreseeable future, as are your TV privliges.”

“Anything else? ” I asked.

“Why yes, there is. If you choose to dance through the house with wreckless abandon, next time, do it when your homework is finished and in your tennis shoes. And can you please try to be more like your Mother and less like me?”

“Doubtfull Deets, doubtful.”

With that carefully measured tween rhetort I skipped down the hall, crisis averted and I am still Dad’s fave.

I can live with the painting. Wonder if I can pick the color??

I chose to share this very personal exchange with my Daddy because it dawned on me that maybe someone that reads this does not understand what Morgan’ s Father (and family, but this reference is strictly male) needs from them.

He was her protector.   He is her ceiling fixer.

You have to give him back what you took so he can fix it for her and their family.

He does not care who you are or what you may have done.

You can do this for them now. Have faith that anything can be fixed. Anything.

mouse: I am equally “surprised” at Dan H.’s response regarding asking the friends (at this time) if they have any photos from the concert.
This revelation has completely stopped me in my tracks.

    REPLY FROM BLINK:

Right. Her camera is missing and all-
Also, I believe I have seen him quoted somewhere saying he was concerened at the lack of photos from that evening.
K peeps, I am back to thinking maybe the purse was dumped after the fact.
Translation hypothetical: She was HH because her card was used by someone who says she was with them?
Remember when I said I thought it odd Dr. Harrington would disclose her account was overdrawn, and speculated it might be more pre-emptive, as in.. She has no money so give it up?
    B

I thought perhaps her card had been used, but at what location, who knows. May or may be not near JPJ. If it was used, was it by Morgan, by Morgan accompanied by someone(s), or without Morgan.
If it wasn’t used at all, why not say, “No it wasn’t used, but her account is overdrawn anyways, so it has no value” instead of “Can’t comment on that”.

Morgan’s purse. I have always felt it was put there after the fact, but the suspended purse theft call still bothers me.

http://www.findmorgan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1956Morgan's Dad says on the findmorgan.com in response to pippi:

    **PIPPI:

“I have always been confused about the timeline and what happened that morning.
I have two different things I have read and am not sure just which one is correct.

    1. Campus police find Morgans purse and call Dr. Harrington at his home at 8:30am to tell him his daughters purse has been found.
Dr. Harrington waits til noon when Morgan does not arrive for arranged meeting and study session and he starts calling friends.
    2. Campus police find Morgans purse and call Dr. Harrington at his home to tell him his daughters purse has been found. He immediately starts calling the friends Morgan was with the night before to see what happened. One of them drives Morgans car home.

I cannot imagine him waiting til noon so I am thinking 2 is correct.
Anybody know just what happened that morning?”

    **MORGAN’S DAD:

“# 2 is closer to the truth. I am not sure what time the purse was found I was not called till 11:to 11:30. I thought “boy is she going to be angry this morning when her purse is missing” At 12:30 when she was not home I called friends and then UVA police to report her missing.”

I am thinking perhaps Morgan’s Dad was told Morgan reported her purse stolen the night before. Otherwise, wouldn’t Dr. H. become concerned right away and try to make contact either with Morgan and her friends?

The incident report is still of interest to me.
(also was the lady minister mistaken when she said the found purse call came to the Harrington’s in the early morning?”

  2. wanttohelp says:

Dan Harrington also made the comment today that the person who took Morgan probably participated in the search for her.

    http://www.findmorgan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1960

I think his other statement, “I’m not sure, I’ll check with her friends” was in response to a poster asking if any of the basketball players participated in the search.

It is slightly confusing because the comments were made on separate threads, but I don’t think he was referring to pictures from that night, he was directly responding to a question about the search and the bb players.

  3. Fletch says:

During a period of less than 48 hours on this site, I was labeled “arrogant”, an “Assclown” and “smart-alecky”. I want to reiterate my apologies for an inarticulate message that I wrote, referencing “undereducated Virginians”. My reference was not to any of the contributors here, but to the “paver guy” and a couple of other folks that have come under the microscope here. I think that the main thing that has been revealed by that scrutiny was that there are some people out there that aren’t too smart. I apologize again (for the third time, seeing it was referenced again very recently.)

However, some of my posts have directly questioned some of the theories that have been expounded and for that I don’t apologize. I do think that there is room for a few of us to raise our hands and question what has been posted. I think that it is fair to ask if something is plausible or if there are any confirmed facts to support some theories. (For instance, I was highly doubtful that Morgan is in a work camp for drug addicts in Sweden, which is where some of the Basta musings were headed).

Momof3 — I especially want to make sure that things are cool with you and I. When I first found this board, your posts stood out to me. I think that you have a really fine combination of compassion, intelligence and reflection and that it shows in your posts. While it is true that you can’t always tell the measure of a person over the internet, in your case, I think that your integrity and personality shine through.

One thing that unites all the posters on this Board is our caring for Morgan and her family. I think that Dr. Harrington’s reply re: credit card use is telling (and I was not aware of that before and do question why that would not have been publicized.) I also tend to agree that the reference to an event in November was a reference to the (apparently erroneous) report of a missing student from a UVA dorm, as referenced by Lee above. Most haunting to me today was Dr. Harrington’s response regarding other areas that he thinks should be searched; what a horrible thing to have to consider for your child.

    Fletch.

Classy and demure, my sincere thanks.
I apolly if you were treated rudely, undeservedly.
Back to the formation all, please.

I’ve never bought into the she-dropped-her-purse-and-just-left-it-there theory. If that happened, I think it means she was in EXTREMELY bad condition. Either she was that far out of it, it was thrown out by someone else, or it was dropped there later.

  5. suz says:

Shoot, Blink, sorry about the Jets. Looked like they would have had it based on the first half, but their #1 defense ultimately let them down.

Still plenty to be proud of to have gone that far with a rookie QB. They done good.

    Oye vey.
TY. Missed late hit call on Sanchez, penalties, ugh. Colts played better ball, period.

Oops, hi again, missed that previous post #2042 by Lee and wanted to respond to it.
I am glad that you feel secure about the reassurances you got from the UVA police.
Don’t know if I’m just cynical, but I take their response with a grain of salt.If they do not know for a certainty who the perpetrator is, how can they make such a blanket statement?

Here is a relevant statistic that I find very disturbing.
    According to the following website:
    http://www.cityrating.com/crimestatistics.asp
the rate of forcible rape in Charlottesville is 1.24 times the national average.
For comparison, the rate in Harrisonburg is 0.86.
I would really like to know why the rate is so much higher in Charlottesville. I do not know if this is relevant to Morgan, but it definitely shows that violent crimes against women occur at a high rate in Charlottesville. Please do not be complacent.

  7. suz says:

Well, the camera and necklace are only missing if they are found to not be with Morgan. For all we know they are still in her possession.

    Yes. Unless LE knows otherwise.

    Judi (2036) re:
“BLINK – Can you clarify this as I think it may be crucial? I know in the press release, they say it was confimed but see below… (from FMH site) ‘FYI…Police have never confirmed to anyone that Morgan was actually ‘seen’ hitchhiking, this was told to me by Meagan Farley, WSLS reporter covering this case.’”

I’ll jump ahead of Blink, as she is surely still numbly staring at the TV, having watched The Jets just penalize themselves out an AFC Championship… (Sorry ’bout ya boys, B.)

So Judi, to put the HH in perspective, it seems clear that LE has been able to effectively trace MH’s movements from 8:20 to about 9:30 p.m. via vetted witness accounts, a phone call (to SS) and several texts. The trail ends on Copeley/Alderman Road, where between 9:20 and 9:30, the last credible witnesses to see her independently reported to LE that she was walking alone (on both sides of the bridge) and appeared to be hitchhiking, i.e. she had her thumb out as she walked toward Ivy. At 9:30, she’s off the proverbial map – no further communication on her phone; no more legitimate sightings.

I believe LE is just making the obvious, 1=1=2 connection: that she successfully thumbed a car over and got in, sealing her fate in an abyss of sorts from that point on. But, LE does have one Big problem with making that “confident” connection: witnesses only saw her *attempting* to hitchhike – no one actually saw her getting into a vehicle, thus we have no description of such.

Now, on a bustling Saturday night in the middle of campus, I’m sure LE feels comfortable making the short jump from MH trying to hitch to MH leaving the scene in a vehicle that offered her a ride, because she was not seen by anyone (who has come forward) after that point.
And, they’re probably right. *Probably. *
Because, without visual confirmation that she actually entered a vehicle, the equation appears more like: 1+x=2

Any ideas why DH suggests searching 29S and the reservoir? (I assume he means the main one at Woodland and Earlysville Rds., but I could be wrong.) Neither is on the way to Blacksburg or H’burg.

But 29S *is* the way to Lynchburg and Smith Mtn Lake, which is where someone said they liked to camp. Also, 29S takes you through North Garden, which is a fairly close-in rural area where some C’villians live … lots of pitch-black, desolate places. (Generally) less expensive than areas west of town.

    re: thug

It is possible the purse was left there, returned/placed/planted there, and then, using the previous scenario word “happenstance”, another individual happened upon the purse, and well, stole some items, but left the rest.
Or didn’t see the purse at all, because we later learned the contents and the purse were found in separate spots, and happened upon only the dumped out contents from which possible thief made a selection (which would account for no fingerprints of said thief on purse – - fingerprints of which we no nothing about, and rightfully so per the investigation). Just a thought.
Of course, equally possible camera was taken for what was on it and necklace remains with Morgan or BG.
Also possible that Morgan left on her own, taking with her items of sentimental value. The necklace and memories within the camera (may have even previously downloaded some photos from computer onto camera before leaving Roanoke).

  12. skyler says:

Ohiomom — I’ll try to answer your question about the lights, etc. — it’s probably only a 5-min. trip, if that long, from downtown mall parking deck where I was back to the JPJ arena/econo lodge area — if you know where you’re going — when I turned on Copeley Rd, I didn’t realize had I continued going straight, I would have ended up at the arena — there is a part of the road that turns to the right, and then it looks like an exit lane in the opposite direction — as I recall, there’s a tree or some trees and then an open area — I did a u-turn there both times —

when I finally, by the grace of God, got back to the EconoLodge and knew where I was, I didn’t really look over to my left at the parking lot beside the arena, and I parked at the top back of the lot facing the restaurant, panda palace, or panda-something — but

after the concert, when I moved my car down to street level directly across from the lot waiting for the boys — it was very well lit and there were LE cars everywhere — don’t know if they were campus or city police, but there were a lot of people out there — that lot emptied fast, and I remember being so impressed — I have waited 45 mins. to get out of the lot in Richmond and an hour or longer to get out of the lot down at the Hampton Coliseum and up at the Capital Center in DC — I don’t think it was raining or drizzling by this point, but I remember when people were breathing, I could see their breath and there were taxis everywhere — as soon as an empty taxi pulled up, people crowded in, and I was thinking I’d pony up the ten bucks to get a ride back to either my car or the hotel — it was cold

and when the boys finally got back to the car and got buckled up — there was an ambulance coming away from UVA toward UVA because I heard a siren and saw the lights — I have post traumatic anxiety disorder after being in that fire; firetrucks whig me out more than a little — because my son said, loving child that he is: don’t freak; nothing’s on fire —

btw, great advice upthread about fire safety — another thing we learned in fire school is to have a family meet place — not in your yard, but like the tree across the street or in the driveway across the street — I had no idea my house was on fire except for the smoke detector blaring — I built my house, and had the smoke detectors rigged into the electrical system, as well as battery operated — it was an electrical fire — sorry, didnt’ mean to digress, but fire is more common than you think —

anyway, that’s all I know about the parking lot at night was when we were leaving — after the ambulance passed, I had to turn left out of the panda palace parking and someone was kind enough to let me out and we were on our way —

This is only a feeling, but I don’t think UVA is covering up anything, and I believe Observer when she says if she thought they were, she’d be the first to do something about it.

I’m unfortunately w/ Blink in that I think Morgan has met her demise at the hands of a very bad guy — which just sucks !

I can’t remember who posted it, but thanks for posting her essay when she was only a senior in high school — it’s the age when they want to be so independent, but also want the security home and parents bring —

I don’t know for certain who took Morgan’s life — or why — but they took so much more than her life — they took away a piece of light that this old world needs so much right now — and when they are caught –and they will be — they will lose the remainder of their life behind bars —

So how can evil continue in this world ? If we stand by and say or do nothing —

We’re not a stand by and do nothing sort of group !

Clementine, I’m still wowed by your pix !!

Yes, I agree. Wonder why these areas (from findmorgan.com):

    MORGAN’S DAD:
“The police have done a number of sweeps of the UVA grounds area as well as “for cause” searches. The laura Recovery Center did the community search with 1700 volunteers that spread the area about 1 and 1/2 miles from the bridge area. We have Roanoek friends that are also doing searched. Areas that I think need to be searched are off of US 29 south, quite a rural area , mountainous. as well as the reservior areas.”

“Down at UVA there are a bunch of underground steam tunnels which connect the whole campus together. Every year students climb down the manholes on campus and run around the steam tunnels. According to some of the students at UVA, it’s the best place to play games like manhunt and tag. With steam tunneling you can be on one side of the campus when first entering the tunnel, then be on the complete opposite side when coming out of the tunnel.”

    Have these been searched?

  18. Judi says:

Is there an entrance to this steam tunnel near where Morgan was talking to the BB players or the bridge or where her purse was found?

Do any lead to Wild Wings?

Dr Harrington believes the person was present for the search. hmmm.

One question I have been asking all along – (I am guessing it has officially established that Dr. Harrington purchased a total of four tickets) – was he reinbursed for the tickets that Morgan herself didn’t use, and if so, when? Is it possible that Morgan was given cash for the tickets that night, and in a happy and under the influence of something state accidentally flashed that money in front of the wrong person?

    Observer,

I understand your unwillingness to participate any longer on this forum. I must tell you, it saddens me greatly.

From my point of view, we have ALL become a family of sorts here. You are a big part of this family. We have missed you in your absence. We all waited for your return. And like the prodigal son you returned. Some in the family, probably felt some frustration at your absence and at your words, because you do keep us in focus, and you do cut thru the BS and deal only in the facts. I appreciated that so much. I am sorry if you were offended by any of our posts, but as part of our family Observer, you must know it was said in the hopes to understand you better. If we can not question, How will we learn?

If you still choose to not post, you will not only be forever missed, but you will have made myself, and any other posters mentioned by you, or commenting to you as of late extremely sad. We will forever wonder, and feel bad for driving you away.

I hope you will reconsider your decision, because I don’t think I can forgive myself if I thought something I said contributed to BOC losing one of its most valued posters. I sometimes forget, even though you are extremely professional in most of your posts, your heart is the same as ours, you care, afterall, you did dig your way through an enormous amount of snow for your beloved doggie.

Well Observer, this is me, Momof3, digging her way through an enormous amount of guilt, asking you to remain part of our family….

anyway, it would be my wish, since we are “back at the beginning”, albeit, with a few more clues, that all of you who have been posting regularly, post in all at once your theories, timelines, etc. then, let’s compare and go from there…

also, big kudos to blink for keeping this ‘family’ of sorts in line. and, i do know we are all here for the same reason… we just get our panties in a wad cause we are frustrated, and who better to take it out on than those we know most?

i can’t remember who all on this board is the great copy and poster, there are so many smarties, but if there is any way we could post the comments that are followed by blink’s remarks(with her permission, of course!)… i think that would be really helpful to us all to get our brains rolling in an organized fashion…

some of you have already done this, but it would be awesome if we could compile it all at the same time…

Fletch, Please, Do not feel bad Mr. Nugent, I welcomed your questioning and I in no way felt disrespected or defensive.

I am honored to be thought of so highly by you, Fletch. Your words meant so much to me, I am happy to know that my personality comes thru my comments, and that you like the person you see.

I am but a housewife, who spends 90% of her time caring for the needs of her family.I don’t have much time for anything else. Until BOC, I had never posted any where on the net. I have come to know you all, and care for you all more than I ever imagined. I hope that Morgan is brought safely home to her family soon and if that is not possible I hope this case will find an acceptable resolution in court.
Yet, I fear that day, for it means I will forever lose the connection I have with all of you. PEACE

    “But a housewife.”

My dear lady. I have worked 8o hours per week, travelled extensively, and had nightmare commutes in my professional tenure to date. By far, the hardest and most rewarding job I have ever had was to be a stay at home Mom.

When Blink Jr. was 18 months I was back to work and traveling bi-coastally.

I sang him *twinkle twinkle little star* up the steps every night to his nursery. Blinkette was into fairy tale reading and in her big girl bed by then. When I had to travel a few days, I recorded Mommy’s lullaby and Dad played it for him before bed in his crib. After a trip, I was overjoyed to pick the weeman up and head up to bed.

I started singing and he said, ..”no no mommy, ssh. ssh for aye aye.” We got to his room and he scrambles out of my arms and presses the button on the player on his nightstand whereby I begin to hear my own voice.

He said .. You no haf to momma, I like this one..”

I made it halfway down the steps before I started bawling. I resigned before my next scheduled trip.

There is not a time I recall that memory and probably 100 others that don’t leave me wishing I could have that time back. I honor you. I envy you. No more “but a” anything please :)

Actually, neither did I. But I was pretty clear on the follow up and found it combative and disrespectful.

I wondered about the steam tunnels awhile back when they were first mentioned just after it was found that Morgan was missing. Here’s a link on flickr:

I wonder if any of these lead to JPJ….parking lots, anyone know? The supposed sighting from Granny was on the Lawn (am I right???? lol) anyways the article I just read said you had to be quiet when in the tunnel cuz you can be heard on the lawn and the medical center, plus alot of other places that I am not familiar with in Cville. Those 2 stuck out for me. Is it possible either Morgan, being adventurous, went to play “tunnel tag” or could have been chased there or left there? I do know the area so any insight would help.

We think that really tall guy with white tshirt talking to curlyhaired dude in tan pants/black shirt is DanC If it is him Dr. Harrington bought him a ticket he was 1 of the 4 Do you think he knew some one in security? I found ‘gramps’ on the video and thought to myself, “huh??”.

However, after some more careful thought, I can see how a young girl might be more trusting of an elderly man, if she were in need of a ride on a cold, rainy night.

Some sex offenders are, indeed, kindly looking old gramps.

Thanks for bringing that perspective into the light.

Regarding Mr. Harrington’s comment regarding credit/debit card activity on Morgan’s account(s) after she disappeared, I also take that to mean there was.

“If so, why not make that information public? In many other missing person cases, it’s quickly shared to help jog people’s memories. Often security-camera video also is provided. Why not with Morgan? Why the secrecy? It doesn’t make sense.”

Yes, I agree Swiss Miss. If someone used her card, that could provide a very strong clue.

Almost two years ago, the Student Body President of UNC was shot and killed after providing the security code for her ATM to two career criminals who broke into her home.

The thug that murdered her was identified from a photo that was taken from him using her card.

and Skyler, thanks for talking about the no picture in the RV lot, I still think it’s strange, what time was it?

  35. fish says:

wpg: could it be that yes, someone did pick Morgan up on the bridge or near there (although I do not believe she was HH) and “told” her that she needed to withdrawal money and when she did (thinking it would buy her some time) there was no money in her account. BG became enraged and asked for or grabbed necklace off and things starting rapidly deteriorating from there?

do we know if anyone saw Morgan at WW’s, the one by the traintracks? maybe her card could not be used because account was overdrawn. then again, maybe a transaction was allowed. sometimes i get away with one but am charged a fee from my bank. a hefty one at that. i am sure that Dr. and Mrs. Harrington have already checked into bank records.

also, the post from “M”. what is this all about? i don’t even know these people and i can tell that they do not seem to be the types that cannot deal with problems, even their own children’s. that is the nature of Dr. Harrington’s chosen profession, dealing with nothing but problems and well, Mrs. Harrington, she’s a nurse who also has great compassion and seems to have been able to deal with many problems the nursing profession and motherhood can hand you!

Also, Wayne Townsend, I was hoping that you had any information on which way the busses left for their next gig. I believe that you have great insight from many angles. You were there and you like music, both big time and local. Let us know, please. By the way, I am not picking on you. I am serious, I think you have a good deal to offer.

Blink: i was going to make this a separate post but no time. it’s a school night.

maybe now that we are almost to 2100 posts, now would be a good time to reiterate your generous offer of pro-bono! maybe BG will be listening. alot has been debated here. i just want the resolution that everyone so desperately needs.

About the purse – didn’t someone allege that LE had reports from unknown (to us, anyhow) observers of Morgan dropping her purse more than once?

If it’s correct that Morgan was that stumbling girl, dropping her purse, kicking at an unknown man, arguing about getting back in, shouldn’t security or LE have intervened instead of letting her careen off into the dark, cold night?

Blink, if the purse was dumped in the parking lot at a later time, why does LE say the purse is not material to the investigation?

The one solution that I have never advocated is that Morgan simply left on her own, but M.’s post on the cold thread from Jan 21 at 9:20am has me almost, but not quite, ready to consider that Morgan ran away. However, I think it’s much more likely that M. for whatever reason just really dislikes Mrs. Harrington. M. left a very cold post on that cold thread.

  37. roageo says:

I find it interesting that there has been no information or focus on the most obvious. Who is/was the boyfriend or ex-boyfriend?
Why has there been absolutely *no* information coming out about him and/or their relationship? I would think that the significant people in Morgan’s life, especially within the last year prior to her disappearance, might have a bearing on the investigation.

Does that not make practical sense— from A to B??

    >>> Comment by Jane — November 28, 2009 @ 6:13 pm

I would guess at Ms. Harrington’s age that the one and only thing that could pull her away from her friends/concert would be a YOUNG MAN. I would also guess it’s someone whom she knew, flirted with and someone who was a real player – bad boy, if you will. I would also imagine all her friends would be aware of him and maybe her infatuation/interest in him. So, like so many, I feel all the answers hinge on what her friends have to say.

  38. lizzy says:

sue, We were all taught the “scientific method” in school, right? Make a hypothesis, design an experiment, see if it supports or disproves the hypothesis. But in my own research, I find that the best results and real findings happen when at the end of that, I step back and just try to let the data talk. It’s the listening that’s hard. If and when the understanding finally comes, it’s usually more by chance than by my supposedly well-designed experiments (or sometimes by a variation that my “gut intuition” based on experience tells me to put in).

That’s what I’ve been trying to do throughout the threads. There are lots of hypotheses that have been made. I’m not sure we have enough information to prove or disprove many of them, although I think we have been able to eliminate some. So I’m just trying to be objective about the individual pieces of info we do have, even if doesn’t make sense with any of the scenarios that seem logical to me.

But there are just too many possibilities left that can fit what we know. It seems we’ve more been able to eliminate individuals as likely perps than we have to completely eliminate any complete hypothesis. Some outcomes and scenarios are certainly more LIKELY than others, but so few are impossible.

momof3 thank you for the nice compliment. First time I have been acknowledged here. I thought I was invisible!

When Dr. Harrington said he could not answer the question regarding Morgans Credit card I took that two ways. Yes she did and No she didn’t. Never jump to conclusions.

If Morgan was separated from her purse then perhaps it was a robbery and they took her necklace too. I believe more posters and pictures of the missing necklace should be put out there.

    E-
Apolly if you felt invisible. I can tell you from an LE perspective in mp cases, there is no gray area in the usage of a person’s accounts of any kind. It is used to determine their official status. Her card/cards were used post her disappearance or they would unequivically announce otherwise.

  40. Elizabeth says:

Is it just me? Everytime I look at pictures or video of the concert from that night I am struck by the audience. Lots of men. I would say at least 10 – 1 men to women. Middle Aged. I am kind of suprised Morgan was “into” this. I know Metallica and LOG go back quite a way so there are a couple of generations.

What would be the profile of a person liking these two bands. Just for discussion sake.

  41. Word Girl says:

    Lizzy,

I liked your analysis of the process. You said it so well. I agree that our general hypothesis-i (? j2k) are good and strong and can’t be completely eliminated. I also think it’s important to listen to the gut. The gut knows. But what does the gut know?

When we have bad, or inaccurate, or unsubstantiated, data to input, we will have a less than satisfactory output. I know that Law Enforcement wants to limit the information given to the public. In some sense, we have to ‘tough it’ about that. However, there are some very useful bits that we could get to the general public to help find Morgan, if only we knew.

One reason we aren’t told these things is because LE has to be concerned about getting a conviction
on a perpetrator and can’t look as if they were on a single-minded hunt for one person/thing. They must. investigate. They are pressured to be legally and politically correct in all they do, to avoid a mistrial or an acquittal.

I do understand that and I sympathize with the position it puts them, the family, and the missing person in, but can someone please, soon, cut through this crap and crack this case with a ‘higher-power-enhanced lightening bolt?!?

Wait — I think I missed a bunch of posts — Did Observer come on and say she isn’t posting any longer ??

Observer, I don’t even know you but my eyes instantly welled w/ tears reading Mom3.0′s post that you’re gone —

Oh, please, please come back — even if it’s only to say hello — you are a valued friend and family member of this forum –

the one thing you have in bunches is integrity — someone way upthread said it best, that you post to guide us when we’re way off track and going on some tangent (like I am wont to do) — but you also have a duty to maintain your integrity in your employment capacity where even though you may desire w/ all of your heart to tell more, you are honor bound by your employment that you cannot. And believe me, I was unemployed for a week or so last week and it nearly gave me heart failure — you have to keep your job, not only for economic reasons, but you’re an asset to whomever your employer is and in whatever capacity.

Sometimes families squabble — it’s just the nature of the beast — my kid ticked me off big time this afternoon — because he left a purchase in the back of the car that I asked him three times if he had brought in and three times he said yes and I went to get it and it was nowhere to be found — because it’s still — you guessed it — in the back of the car, which is an hour away in richmond !

Please please come back — if not for selfish me who has missed you greatly — please come back for Morgan, who needs you desperately —

that girl met w/ foul play of the worst kind — I do not believe UVA is responsible — I do not believe it was the BB players — in my job, it involves HIPAA rules — even if a family member calls for information but the main pt. is not available to give me permission to speak w/ the caller — I cannot reveal that information — and believe me, I’ve had people call me every name in the book. demand to speak to my supervisor (which I’m always happy to oblige, let them deal with them — ha) —

One last time, please don’t leave us — anyone who would go out in the freezing cold in 2 feet of snow to dig a potty spot for their beloved puppy is Aces in my book (I, on the other hand, took great joy watching my puppy try to squat in snow that was up to her belly !)

You are very dear to us, and to Morgan.

I will have to admit, I was sick home with the flu-H1N1, when I first started following Morgans case in mid October. Since then, I post , and read here everyday now! I haven’t read in 3 days and now, I am so far out of the loop on your posts!

I am glad there are so many posts, we do not want Morgans case to go cold.
    Blink, glad your back too.

  45. skyler says:

Oh, Observer, I just found your posts like 100 posts back — who is this “Skyler” and why on earth does she post so much ? (smmile)

Again, please don’t stop — everything you said is valid, and you are most gracious — I will share w/ you a story that I heard last year at my place of business, and it still makes me laugh every single time —

the caller was just adamant she get the information she wanted, right there, right then — she didn’t care about authorization, about HIPAA, about rules, she wanted what she wanted, period !!

The person helping her said, and this is a direct quote: Well, if I give you the answer, you’re going to have to pay my rent tomorrow because I’m going to be fired today !

I have taught my new dog about “time out” — she has a tendancy to take great joy in chasing my cats — I literally ask her: do you want to go in time out? (my kid never answered that question, oh, yes, I would love to, and now neither does my dog)

Blink was away — she is back — anyone gets a litle unsurly Miss B will put them in time out until we can all play nice again.

    Affectionaly,

Skyler (who posts way too much, and who asks you again, to please come back)

  46. skyler says:

Georgia, like Momof3, I, too, missed the post about your mother’s passing.

In the days before my father crossed over, he was heavily sedated on morphine, and in a semi-coma — he had horrible cancer, and just tumors popping up everywhere on his body — but two days before his passing, he woke up — kind of — and he kept talking about how beautiful it was — there was no pain, he was having conversations with his parents and other friends who had crossed over. The night before he passed, my mother sat in a chair by his side and she was trying to sleep, but she awoke, and she saw a beautiful formation of light floating over his bed, and then it paused and then went out of the hospital window.

I know that sounds ridiculous, but I tell you that to assure you your mother is in a beautiful place, where there is no pain or sickness and she is surrounded by the love of God, as are you.

    take care,

You mean a LAser? [pronounced, of course, as Dr. Evil would]

Good-post fist-bumps to you and lizzy on this subject. I have to admit, I often feel like we’re spending a lot of energy just attempting to deduce what LE – or even the Friends – already know to be certain but are keeping from the public… which is a bit of a mental rabbit-hole I try not to venture down too often.

On the topic of her debit card, it could be possible that someone came across her wallet/purse in the lot, grabbed the card and any cash, and attempted to use the card at the 7-11, prompting the review of its tapes several days into the investigation – and maybe even the “no comment” from the nearby Wachovia (if that was, coincidentally, her bank) regarding LE’s look at the branch’s tapes. If its use was attempted or successful, LE may not be able to trace it to the thief, and regardless, it appears that they do not feel the theoretical person using the card was same individual responsible for her disappearance – perhaps because the attempted transaction does not fit her timeline, i.e., the usage was determined to have happened after she was allegedly taken from the area.
But again with the speculating on what LE already knows…

I’m considering an investment in your LASER-powered crap-cutter approach, at this point.
