New York NY– In what was to be the kick off of the promotion tour for the release of her new book, Andrea Lyon quips the flub of the year:

Andrea-lyon-laughing

 “..SHE DIDN’T KILL HER KID..”

Ms. Lyon.. That “KID” has a name. It is Caylee Marie Anthony.

Ms. Lyon appeared this morning on the Today Show this to promote her new book: Angel of Death Row: My Life as a Death Penalty Defense Lawyer and was interviewed by Today host Meredith Viera.

“The intense media scrutiny here has made it, as far as I can see, virtually impossible to get a fair trial,” Lyon told Meredith Vieira.< ?xml:namespace prefix ="" o />

She goes on to compare her clients case to that of the Salem Witch Trials.

“The fact that she’s been pilloried in the press … I would liken this, Meredith, to the Salem witch trials,” Lyon said. The attorney went on to describe the mass hysteria that inflamed Salem.

“..that the death penalty puts a lot of pressure on a defendant even when they haven’t commitLyon acknowledged ted a murder. “She didn’t kill her kid,” Lyon said of Anthony.

It is unclear from her statements if her reference was a clue, or tantamount to a confession from her client Casey Anthony as to how and who murdered her daughter, Caylee Anthony .

I really tried to watch the video of George with empathy but I had to turn it off. Excuses, excuses, excuses…and the word microscope over and over and over. I am not sure he is the brightest bulb in the room. Just as soon as ms. blink trys so hard to be nice and truly make it all about Caylee then George does something like this. The Anthony family just cannot stand not having the attention on them at all times. Even if it means they have to lie. I will continue to try to hold myself to the highest standards and not make snide and ugly remarks but it is most difficult when a family just asks for it.

Just had a crazy thought. Wouldn’t it be great if, after the trial is over and Casey’s in prison, the lead person from the FBI, state attorney’s office, children/family services, and even the jail would all collaborate and write an in-depth book on this case — on what they saw and heard from July 15 to the present? I would buy that book in a minute. Hey, a girl can dream…..

Regarding the Orlando East comment I dont think its Cindy – maybe its that bat batterer Holly! Or someone else close to the Ants but the comment they made is outrageous!
Tramatized and frightented young mother? OE, Casey Anthony has never been either of those things. By her own words she is a “spitefull bitch” that should have been slapped down before things got to this end. Letting a child sleep in Ricardos
bed – outrageous and inexcusable! with all the child abuse by boyfriends
Id sure like to know what Cindy would have done to Casey if she had found out about that! Pictures take before the incident of Caylee missing – uh again we dont think so we know she was out partying and also at Tonys apartment cooking shopping and we have video to prove it -she certainly looked calm and collected, most sociopaths are!

Just putting my two sense in, but I totally agree that Ms Lyon’s appearance was not a good one, for her, her book or the defense. She seemed thrown off and unprepared for the way the interview went. I’m sure the commentary prior to her being interviewed combined with not being asked questions about her book as opposed to the case didn’t set well with her.

Blink, do you think Lyon will follow Nejame if she can’t get Casey to plea? I mean if her client doesn’t take her advice it would be a way for her to exit without it tarnishing her “record”? I just don’t see her sticking with a case if there’s a good chance she could lose it …
Would love to know what you think! :)

Academically, by far, she is superior to her fellow defense team. Her earned “ego” is going to clash with Baez’s “perceived ego”. Did you note the look she gave him in court last time? An attorney is not going to quit because she would not plea. Essentially, Casey is the boss. I think they will state that her schedule cannot meet the demands of the case.

Blink, I didn’t think of that reason (excuse) and it would allow her to save face? Sort of …
I did see a look, was it the “I can’t believe what a bozo this guy is” look? I’ve gotten the impression that she’s less than impressed with Jose.
Ms Lyon no doubt thought that she would jump into the case and save the day. I think she really underestimated Casey and Baez … I don’t think she’ll convince either of them to take a plea (if it’s even offered) to the murder charge … Baez motivated by money and Casey motivated by her “I’ve always gotten away with everything before” attitude …

I so agree with what you said in that post, I have little problem with the defence doing their job, it’s what they are required to do, I think most people’s problem with them, (based on comments I read) is that they are doing it so badly! The state of their motions is deplorable and that’s just to start, I know they have to create doubt but they aren’t creating REASONABLE doubt. That’s unacceptable imo.

I think they have botched this case, but I also know this was a dog of a case when they got it.

    #171 Ada & Blink

‘Yes, I do. Thus the “I wrote this at Thanksgiving” but I wanted until the deadline for discussions in the plea for the fraud trial’.

I was looking for something that addressed this! It was such an odd thing to say….’I wrote this at Thanksgiving’. It wasn’t relative at all. AND WHO CARES WHEN IT WAS PENNED? If anything, it hurt the na no micro fraction (yeah I made that up) of credibility it had…which is virtually none.

Covering one lie after another. Bet they’re scrathing their watches and winding their butts in the mass confusion of lies.

  8. Ragdoll says:

ah rats butt…..scrathing = scratching. Speaking of losing credibility. :P

Blink, the comment regarding the death of a model in Florida……when you say ‘it’s him’, are you referring to her bf?

I think Lyon’s is used to representing those facing the death penalty who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks so to speak. She has been successful in arguing they get life instead of death because she is able show the jury that these people had no breaks in life and they had horrible childhoods. Now Casey on the other hand, has had a cushy life. Medical bills paid for by Cindy, Casey was allowed to sustain her life by stealing with no consequences, Cindy paid for most of Caylee’s things. She had a roof over her head. She had free babysitting services from George and Cindy. She had food on her table every night compliments of Cindy. Of course they can argue how horrible Cindy was but I don’t think that will wash.

I’m reading a pdf from one of George’s depo’s that Dee linked to up there. Just had to comment on this ironic point. Ashten is asking him about when he found out KC was pg for Caylee. He says what were the emotions? George says concerned for how his daughter was going to be a single parent, but excited, elated to be a grandfather….Then here’s the ironic part….George says “You just can’t put a price tag on that.”
Really George??? Looks to me like Caylee had a price tag to you and Cindy both.

Given her background as a hippie/liberal, perhaps Lyon will present this as a post-birth abortion….

  13. lily says:

I find DaneBramage’s comment unnecessarily offensive and political. There is a pretty fair spread of conservative, independent and liberal leaning folks represented on this board all united by the cruel murder of one little girl – Caylee Marie

I think it was aimed at Ms. Lyon, and not that it has any bearing, she is a self-professed liberal.
I have not known filicide to have a political angle, true.

I have kids. Three of them. All boys. Love them to pieces. Whats the big deal about kids, everyone uses that word for child or children. I think this was just Andrea talking. Not premeditated to depersonalize Caylee. Seems to me that people are making a big deal about nothing but a word. Read on one post that Blink believes the Anthonys read here. How can you know if they do? Just curious.

Karen, they do. Perhaps you did not see the doc dump with my articles in it??

Janice post # 27 to be fair Dr G said cause of death homicide manner of death undetermined. She based homicide on the fact that Caylee was a healthy little girl, with no medical anomolies and the body showd no signs of trauma. Since a little girl who is healthy is not expected to just up and die the cause had to be that someone did this to her. So Homicide. But again manner of death is undetermined.

if Alyon is trying to be more “people-friendly” using “her kid”—–seriously backfired, since it shows no respect what so ever.

if she thinks yelling at anyone within earshot that “they are out to KILL her client” ( to get sympathy? a “gasp” out of someone?)
again, didn’t work for me—–casey KILLED “her kid”-is charged with it,for now.

if the trial is at the penalty phase-(hence the need for “the angel of DR”)—the jury will have concluded that casey DID “kill her kid”…
Alyon will get zero sympathy throwing the “kill” word out then—-since she’s brought it up so many times already herself—-(shock value is completely lost, if there ever was any.)

personally, i hope casey gets LWOP, having to re-live what she’s done, in with 40-50 convicted women, having to be on guard all day every day– living in fear….the private DP cell would be too easy.

Lily, can I ask you to go by lily 3 or another permutation. I have a lily poster, and I try to keep everyone straight that way.
    Thanks and welcome.

Oh yes Blink I had forgotten about that. (In regards to the Anthony’s reading here) So many documents and such a long time on this. I have probably forgotten a lot of what I read last year!
