I just want to know when is the Florida Bar going to step in and have Baez
disqualified, or suspend his licenses. How in heaven’s name did he manage to pass the Florida Bar? OOPS I forgot it only took him 8 years.

  2. Kleat says:

Blink call the defense ‘Baffoons’??? Dangerously close to agreeing with Mr. Hornsby again, Ms. Blink!! (he says the defense will be sorry one day and realize this is the worst motion they’ve asked for.

Then WESH reports that maybe a judge named Perry will take over the case. Ironically, Marinade Dave wrote about that judge too, in an article March 2006.

  3. cecybeans says:

    Blink

All this hoopla over Marinade Dave and the focus on Robyn A instead of KC is very disconcerting to me because it redirects our attention away from Baez who at this very moment should again be reported for yet another ethics violation.

I know Hornsby has tried to minimize the gravity of Baez passing notes back and forth between KC and her family on his blog, but it is a far more serious matter than that, isn’t it? Particularly in light of Jose’s other concurrent troubles (ie: explaining to the JAC why he doesn’t have any discernable paid-in-full work product for the $275K he either pocketed or distributed on KC’s behalf) I’d think he would be concerned about the aspersions it casts on how he practices law in general.

Is anyone following up on this? Blink you have done such wonderful work bringing Baez’ transgressions to the light of formal investigation. Are you planning or have you filed a report on this? What a recidivist! This man is a repeated embarrassment to his colleagues and has bilked not only his client but the state and citizens of FL of valuable resources simply to further his own interests. Even if the JAC puts a stop to him with profligate spending on this case, he profanes his profession with his constant disregard for fundamental precepts of behavior. He and the Anthony family have lied about receiving hand-carried letters; his own client has busted him. The guard who passed letters back and forth between KC and an inmate has been punished. Where are the consequences to his behavior, which is more egregious because he is an officer of the court?
I am afraid I can’t address that specifically, except to say I agree with everything your saying.

I think this article on the recent motion is a good read

Does anyone know if the Defense is successful in getting their way ~ Strickland recuses himself and they have to choose a new Judge, who is the decider?

  6. MJ says:

Ceceybeans~ that was an outstanding post. I feel the same way but wouldn’t be able to say it so well, half way through I’d be so angry that all that would come out is trash talk!
I don’t understand why other atty’s refuse to make a complaint to the bar, he is singlehandedly giving the legal community nationwide a black eye. I for one have begun to think that his peers must be just as unethical at heart if they don’t feel the outrage that we do.
Thanks for saying what so many of us feel.

  7. Ragdoll says:

I’m beginning to think that Baez is trying to save his own hide before his client’s.

    Yes, by getting booted.

    Blink –

Hello, are you there? Blink, where are you? No article on the jailhouse letters….no article on the motion to have the Judge thrown off the case….I have been refreshing this site for days. I would love to hear your take on this latest move by the defense. Will you be commenting? Forgive me patience has never been my thing. :)

Lol. Sal, everyone, my apologies. I took a nasty header, and well, it has taken this long to get back to about 85%. I have had to ramp back up, as I had some memory loss and for me, that is like the difference of me going back to normal vs. my bionics.

For those of you who have never had a brain injury, I don’t recommend it. Blows big time.

I am working on it, and I appreciate the support. Patience was never my thing either.

I just saw on wftv.com that Judge Strickland has stepped down.

    Yes, ftlog.

  10. Ragdoll says:

Now that Judge Strickland has stepped down, how does this affect his past rulings? Is this a fresh start for the defense?

    I’m blown away.

  11. Janice says:

The defense should of been aware of the old saying “be careful for what you ask for” Judge Strickland confirmed his recusal and Administrative Circuit Judge Reginald Whitehead appointed Judge Belvin Perry Jr. in his place; Perry is highly-respected and well known as a tough, no-nonsense judge.

You know that, I completely agree.

  12. Ragdoll says:

    Quoting Judge Strickland

‘Until now, enjoying my work has never seemed to pose a problem’.

    http://www.wftv.com/pdf/23199370/detail.html

JS has had enough with the shananigans and outrageous motions filed by the defense. This is problem a strategic move on his part. No way he stepped down hastily.

  13. Sal says:

Blink forgive me, I had no idea. By all means take care of you, we can all wait. I have had a concussion before and they are definitely no fun.

Friend, you owe me no apology, I was pretty scant on the details-

    Feel better Blink!

I have been checking back & forth and wondered why there wasn’t much activity over here.

I am much better, I am an egotistical old gal and did not want to let the cat out, until I knew the cat would have a few more lives, lol.

  15. TiaMaria says:

Blink! My goodness please take care of yourself. Nothing funny about head injuries! Sending you good thoughts and good vibes. This case isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Pace yourself my friend.

Thank you I have, it was 6 weeks ago and I will have a cow if y’all are worrying about me, really, I am much better.

    Thanks!

  17. Ragdoll says:

Blink, HOLY CRAP! You float like a butterfly and sting like a bee!

In all seriously, please take care of you. You are one tough broad if I do say so myself but I’m not the least bit surprised.

I’m curious if the head injury will induce psychic abilities ;)

    ~Love~ xo

Doubtful, but thank you kind friend.

  18. Susan2 says:

Blink, I’m so sorry to hear of your accident, but it’s good to know you’re feeling better. Take care of yourself, your children need a healthy Mama. We can wait (for the defense to self-destruct).

    Thanks and lol

  20. Muse says:

Glad to hear you’re on the mend, Clio – I am sending you lots of healing energies.

Like everyone else, I’m very disappointed in the events of the last few days. Red herring for dinner, anyone?

Now let’s get back to focusing on those damning jailhouse letters: the revealing improprieties of Ms. Anthony’s attorneys and Ms. Anthony’s complete and obvious disregard for her murdered daughter.

    Lol Lol.

    That’s Miss Clio to you..

    Your absolutely right.

  21. Mom3.0 says:

Blink, I am glad to know you are feeling better. I am sorry to hear about the memory loss- Do they know if it is temporary? Thinking of you and praying for a full recovery..

I am not totally shocked by the news of Judge Strickland stepping down. I had a bad feeling that day he asked Dave to stay after. Could it be that no one wants to be on this case?

Janice thank you for the info on Judge Belvin Perry Jr.

    I heart you.
Come visit me at the new thread.

  22. Amy says:

    Blink,
First I want to say I am so sorry about your brain injury.. Please take care of yourself… With that being said I really need to tell you how upsetting this thing with Judge Strickland .. When your up to it. Please read the new motions filed by the defense.. Ok let me get this straight, They are charging KC with the death penalty because she is female and it’s sexism so they need to take it off the table.. Oh wait better yet the SAO did it because they knew how much money her defense was getting and they didn’t want her to have lawyers of her choice.. When is enough going to be enough…I can’t beleive that someone hasn’t dealt with that ego that Baez has.. When will he leave this case or at least have his law license taken.. I have been waiting and waiting but the whole lot of them just keep pulling crap and getting away with it… Please give me some kind of hope that they (Baez and CO ) will be dealt with..

Please bring this to the new thread Amy.

  23. Sal says:

Has anyone read the other motions that were filed? They are up on the CFNews site. Interesting that they are only signed by AL and not CM and JB, I take that to mean they haven’t been filed yet but advance copies were once again sent to the media. I’ve only read 1 so far, it’s the one about the state only asked for the death penalty after finding out how much money Casey had. It is….well….just read it for yourselves…it’s a doozy. Check out Baez’s letter to LDB at the end. Sits here shaking head……

Get on the dang new thread you asked for :)

  24. Muse says:

I also wanted to add that I’m not trying to diminish what I believe is a significant slap (with an incredible amount of hubris) to a most honorable judge who more than adequately demonstrated his impartiality in this case. I am a big fan of Judge Strickland. But I believe these are more circus antics from the defense to divert our attention from Casey Anthony. More and more I’m feeling shades of the OJ Simpson trial and I want to see all of us not allow them to turn it into such a spectacle.

A baby was murdered, and regardless of who presides over this case, Ms. Anthony remains the accused.

I am so with you on this.

  25. Janice says:

Monday, April 19, 2010 WESH News at 6:01 PM EST reported by Michelle Meredith the defense filed four motions the bullets read as follow.
    1. remove death penalty
    2. death penalty unconstitutional
    3. bias against women
    4. reveal character witnesses

What do you make of this? AL giving it one more try?

  26. Heidi says:

Blink… OMG! Not only does Mr. Mason need to check his batteries, but he should triple check to see if his driver license and other legal documents needs to be updated. I’m laughing inside, but this is not funny. He was in such a hurry to file this on Friday at 4:48p.m. that his notary signature stamp was overlooked (which expired 11-20-2009). Kinda makes you wanna go hmmm?…. what else has Mr. Cheney notarized that may now be void. HAHAHAHAHAH! CM & Jose should save their pennies and hire at the very least two legal assistances to sit beside them in court. Between Jose not able to locate his accounting records, and Mr. Cheney lack of memory of addressing proper names on his own legal team, then asking the judge if he trusts him…it can’t get any worse. This such a waste of time. I’m relieved for JS but will miss him.

    With ya.

He is a solid Judge and good guy, imo.
In a way, maybe he is better off.
