Haleigh Cummings Case: Sources Say “WE ARE CLOSE”

ARREST IS IMMINENT

Putnam County, FL– Since Monday, breaks in the case of  5 year old Haleigh Cummings, missing from her home since February 9, 2008, have caused a search team to be stationed at the St. Johns River.

Misty

Sources tell blinkoncrime they are close to making an arrest in her murder.

HaleighSearch041410LgVanLeaveLate this afternoon sources inside the investigation have confirmed that Misty Croslin, the former step-mother and last person to see Haleigh alive, was brought back to the scene a third time.

Image to the left, courtesy of scaredmonkeys.com poster grnlizard, is of Misty Croslin leaving in the white SUV.

.. We have been hopeful that we could gauge her reactions from the scene, as well as the possibility she might actually tell us the truth, as we have been straight up we are not leaving without what we came for..

“.. The consensus is she is more interested in what was told to us by an unamed individual..”

The recent developments are the work of a 10 month investigation by a retired FBI agent, Steve Brown, who is working for Crystal Sheffield.

“Monday was the culmination of this 10-month investigation I’ve been doing,” said Steve Brown, now a private investigator working for Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield. “We presented this to the Putnam Country Sheriff’s Office and the FDLE, and with their cooperation, finally got the final details of what transpired in that trailer on Feb. 9th (2009).”

While many are speculating that the search teams are poised to locate the remains of little Haleigh, it is this editors opinion that they are searching for something related to what is missing from the scene, a blanket.

Brown believes the presentation he gave to the Putnam County Sheriffs Office and the FDLE leaves nothing left to interpretation as to what happened in the trailor that night.

“There may be other people culpable, but as to who killed Haleigh, that’s not going to be a big surprise,” Brown said.

Joe Overstreet, Misty Croslin’s cousin who was in town the night Haleigh went missing, but has denied any involvement, was questioned last night at 11 PM for the third time at FBI offices in Tennesee, according to his attorney, Shawn Sirgo .

Sources close to the investigation believe an arrest in this case is imminent, and that Misty Croslin is expected to testify in exchange for a reduced charge in the drug charges against her.

Ron Cummings and Misty Croslin have been incarcerated since January 20, 2010 on drug charges.

These people live at the lower edge of socity. They have grown up with bad behavior all around them. Those that reach adulthood all in one piece are very lucky. Little Haleigh is a victum of a poor society. She will have a new opportunity in the after life. GOD takes care of the little children.

I pray, and I know, what you say is true in this baby’s case.

  2. JR says:

And 15 YEARS for Hope Sykes, the one who plead NO CONTEST AND HAD THE LEAST AMOUNT OF CHARGES.

While this was a trafficking charge that came only two weeks after her OR release from previous possession charges, this is a pretty harsh slap for an 18 year-old with no other record nor violent crimes and still holding the possibility of being eligible for the youth offender program (with much shorter terms).

As stupid as she was to just be sitting in that car for no good reason in the first place and stupider for risking it with a pending charge and stupidest for talking the worst sounding stupid shit on a recorded jail call – I can’t help but think what 15 years of prison is to an 18 year old with a bad attitude and a drug problem.

Is it really possible that Misty could get close to the actual 100 years she’s facing? And to think, these are just the drug charges alone….

  3. radiogirl says:

For the young woman who is staring down 15 years, she is in for the shock of her life.Prison isn’t jail. That attitude will not serve her well. There are mothers in prison who love their children and that will be a problem for her ..this case is national. She’s mixed up with those responsible for a childs death.

Her biggest problem will be finding out she’s not the toughest girl in town.

  4. Ragdoll says:

    JR,

Thank you for the link! I’ve listened to about half. You’re right….the first part drags.

I’m not sure what to think of Cobra’s accounts. He’s got a grudge so anything he says can be embellished or exaggerated, imo. As for Ron having Mizz Nancy’s cell #…..EEESH. I wonder if her alleged off air communications with Ron could make her a possible witness for the state should it ever go to court. Why she’d put herself in that situation is a complete mystery. For the twins sake, I hope it’s a rumour.

Art Harris being closely associated with NG makes him wishy washy in my books. NG has lost credibility. I don’t think anyone involved can be trusted. I doubt we’ll ever know what happened to precious Haleigh or where she rests, but, I’ll keep praying.

  5. MsEnscene says:

It seems to me that in the families involved in this case, the younger generation rules the respective roosts. You can hear that in Hope Sykes’ conversation with her mom.She is only nineteen, but knows all the answers, no one can tell her a thing, thinks she is in charge of not only her small world, but controls the judge and the court system as well. She appears to have had no boundaries while growing up and took over making household rules and decisions at about five years of age.

Everything in the Cummings-Sykes families revolve around the star, Ron. In her phone call with her mom, Hope Sykes cannot concentrate on her upcoming court appearances for giggling and sighing to her mom over getting to ride with hearthrob “cousin Ron”.

It’s almost as if the family depend upon him for emotional and monetary support. They certainly seem to pick up the slack for him in whatever he may be doing from the custody fight with Crystal to their continuing support for his ex, (but really non ex) Misty, in which case GGM Sykes defends Misty on Nancy Grace saying, “Misty certainly was not high on the night Haleigh disappeared!” And then goes on to describe a perfectly harmonious scene with Misty taking good care of the kids just before Haleigh went missing. Huh? Haven’t they heard Misy is “inconsistant”? LOL.

The Croslins are worthy of a mini-series depicting interesting family dysfunction. Again, the second generation appears to support and house the parents and feels comfortable in telling mom and dad what to do. Both Tommy and Misty are busy commanding their parents to do this, do that, get me this, etc.

The parents scrounge for things to steal and sell often in conjunction with their criminally-inclined children. The parents seem to know that their place in their kids’ lives is as pals and cohorts aiding and abetting them in whatever activity in which their kids’ choose to break laws.

When the kids are incarcerated, for the most part, mom and dad sigh endlessly, shrug helplessly and just agree that “That’s right, you’re right. You did nothing wrong;you shouldn’t even be here.”

What a depressing slice of life. No wonder this Haleigh case drives Blink bonkers.

    JR
The charges she was arrested on two weeks prior to the big takedown made Hope ineligible for the youth offender program according to the judge. Her priors and her stellar performance on the phone did her in. Besides that, she’s so smart who doesn’t ask their lawyer to deal with the prosecution? She’s such an idiot. I only wish she would get an education while in prison. Doubt she could make a mint being a stripper anyway. Have you seen the website for that strip club? They weren’t that hard up! I’ll see if I can find it for you.

  7. Charlotte says:

Blink: I just listened to your podcase about the Haleigh case. In reference to the woman who was found with a bloody face and an axe found at the site, if I recall, that was something that happened last April (2009) and it was Crystal Sheffield who had a seizure and fell and hit her face. It happened at the Haileigh Bug Center (or whatever it was called). Not sure why this came up now, but I think the information is one in the same.

  8. kyrasmommy says:

  10. Pomona71 says:

In checking the Putnam County phonebook, there are 6 Belcher
families including Hope’s mother Kristina. 5 of the 6 live
close to the St. Johns River. I don’t know if they are related but
kids (such as Hope) sometimes visit relatives and know their areas
such as party spots close to the river. One of the Belchers lives a
short way north of Magnolia, in Shell Harbor where Hand and Lisa lived. That other Belcher residence is between CR 309 and the St. Johns River. It would be less than 10 minutes south of Green Ln. via US 17 and onto CR 309, still in the Satsuma area. This is just a
thought when I looked at the map and saw the properties between Green and Magnolia which is just off Shell Harbor Rd. where Tommy C. indicated Haleigh was thrown in the water. It’s close enough and
wooded enough. Check Palatka (Putnam County) phone book and also the GIS for Putnam County, search Hamilton Rd., Satsuma.

  12. Starsky says:

    Hey Blink

What are your sources telling you about the latest on this? Authorities said “an arrest is imminent” on April 14th.

I gave an interview the other eve, I do not think they will make an arrest until she is found.
    B

  13. Minnie says:

Probably too late to find a body, so if it wasn’t for the drug arrests, some people would have got off scot free.

  14. Judi says:

Do you think they will find her?

Not without an immunity deal, which she will not get.
    B

  15. Starsky says:

Do you think that they will let JO stay out of jail?

  16. Charlotte says:

So, who are you guys all thinking did it? Somehow I don’t think it was cousin Joe. I don’t think Misty would keep quiet this long if someone else did it. I think SHE did it. Anyone?

  17. Randie says:

    Blink,

I understand all the comments above…..

But, what about the scenario that she was tied to cinder blocks and the little girl was disposed of by alligators and the such. The body would no longer beable to be found.

  18. Judi says:

    Blink,

For once, I hope you are wrong in that there will be no arrest until she is found, because I do not believe that she will be found and I want justice for his precious angel.

    Charlotte,

I personally think it was Misty. I think she was hung over, mad at Ron, in a bad mood, kids bothering her, we already knows she is selfish and only concerned aboout her own self, and she snapped. But, that is just my opinion.

  19. MsEnscene says:

Misty had a script which she had difficulty following since she changed it so much. Ronald went along with all the script changes. After all, as he said “I dunno;I was at work.” A certain lack of interest one can note on his part.

On the Today show, during Misty’s honeymoon, when Meredith Viera asked Misty why she had so many inconsistancies in her story, Misty just plain gave up and looked pleadingly at her new bridegroom, Ron, for help with the answer. He distanced himself by looking straight ahead at the camera. Poor Misty was on her own. “I don’t know,” she squeaked.

Misty never said she saw GGM Sykes on that night until stories circulated that Misty was not at the MH at all on that Monday. Then more than a week after the initial interviews, GGM Sykes and Teresa Neves came out with tales that GGM Sykes brought laundry to the home. Teresa Neves admits that she sent “people” to the Mobile Home that night who definitely saw Misty there. One of the “people” sent with GGN Sykes was supposedly, according to one of Misty’s latter-day stories, Aunt Elisa who is a nurse.

Last week GGM Sykes was pitted against Flora, Misty’s granny, on Miz Nancy’s show. GGM Sykes defended Misty against Flora’s charges that “Ron was partly to blame and should never have left his kids with a drugged-out Misty”.

Right away, GGM Sykes came out of her corner battling Flora. Not only was Misty there, and not high, according to Ron’s formidable grandmother, but Misty was tenderly caring for the kids per usual.

GGM then reiterated her story of delivering laundry right into Misty’s loving and very capable arms. She added a bit more detail to the laundry delivery saying how she helped Misty change the kids’ shirts at 7:30 or so while Haleigh and Jr. were evidently in the middle of their supper chez porch. Sykes also told her story using the pronoun “we” as in “We drove up to the MH and…”.

So, why haven’t we heard from this other witness to Misty’s lucidity and straight-arrow performance on the eve before Haleigh went missing –the other person of “we”? Seems as if she could be another witness to some of what transpired that night. Unless you think that GGM Sykes always uses the editorial “we” when referring to herself.

Also, as Flora recounted a story she heard about Haleigh being raped and battered in the MH that night, GGM Sykes never raised an eyebrow or a protest at this horrific story; she just midly said, “I never heard anything like that.” Huh? Not disturbed by that brutal account of what may have happened to her beloved Haleigh?

But as soon as Flora blamed Ron for leaving his kids with a drugged- out Misty, GGM Sykes got her dander up and delivered yet another rousing positive portrait of that wunderkind baby sitter, Misty “jailhouse” Croslin.

I hope LE took and is taking good notes. Nothing makes sense.

  20. RubyRose says:

What is going on in this case? Why has there been no meida reports or updates on Misty/Ron/Joe/the brother and that goofy grandma Flora. Do you think this case is stalling just waiting for forensics to be returned on the items recovered from the river?

  21. Pomona71 says:

PS in my post of May 11 at 10:06. I did nto mean I would
be digging around, no way on private property. Someone has
been diggering around to set up a foundation (of whatever
kind) I recall seeing LE walking along the side of Hwy. 17
just north of Crescent City looking for things. I have no
idea and have never read they searched TN residence.

  22. Charlotte says:

Looks like Ron Cummings wants a plea deal in exchange for testimony against Misty and Tommy. Wonder what he knows?

  23. MsEnscene says:

Charlotte, wasn’t it reported that Ron would testify AT the trials of Misty and Tommy, not AGAINST Misty and Tommy? And we are talking about drug trafficking charges, right?

  24. Jan says:

It’s looking more and more like Ron is a snitch. Getting off on all his prior arrests, getting a plea deal in this current mess. Why would part of his deal be to be charged AFTER the others trials? He always has that smug look on his face like he’s in the know. He is going to throw them all under the bus, maybe even their supplier, and walk out with time served.

  25. MsEnscene says:

Yeah, I think Ron babee is a big ol’ snitch. And I think he has even bigger than snitch “connections” to LE in Putnam county. A slippery eel is that fellow. Don’t know why they should be letting him plead for a deal when they have him dead to rights on those videos.

He must be able to give up a lot of other dealers…higher up on the druggie food chain or else he knows a helluva lot about everyone in his little kingdom. That guy is just darned scarey. No wonder no one is talking. Have you ever heard such resounding silence in a case from ordinary citizens? Ron must be really a threat. His eyes give me the creeps. And that smirk!

  26. Minnie says:

Why doesn’t someone call in and ask Nancy Grace if Joe took a poly?

    I can’t do it.
    The cousin?

He did. He passed. Had he not, he would be in jail.
    B

  27. Randie says:

I have fought this idea for some time….but…

Could it be that Ron was in with the police and in on the sting to “trap” Misty?

Could he be pleaing or walking, cause this was the plan from the begining???

  28. Pomona71 says:

One name that’s not brought up often (in fact, rarely) in the Croslin’s game of Musical “Who’s Guilty” Chairs is Timmy was up in
MA. He’s being pretty quiet, not like Gma Hollars. All the recent
stories seem to be distractions as they point to Misty, Tommy, Joe..
No one is pointing fingers at Ron either. Lindsy made a recent trip
to visit Timmy and Chelsea—sharing info? to keep the stories
sounding straight. Le needs to let them talk, give them a little
more rope, perhaps yellow rope. My opinion.

  29. Minnie says:

onder how Joe, the cousin, passedd? If he did not do it, he must have known something. Also, he left so quickly the next day.

  30. Minnie says:

I can’t remember, but there are things you can take to pass a lie detector test. Was it valium?
Maybe they did not give the test the right way?
They could have asked Joe, “Do you have an idea who disposed of the body, do you know who did it? did she take a pill and diedd?”

  31. Jan says:

Joe bummed a ride from Tennessee to Florida. He posted flyers with Misty the following day, but had to leave that evening or miss his ride back home.

  32. Randie says:

A few new things on Heleigh.

  33. Minnie says:

Blink, as we discussed over here this past weekend on Joe, the cousin, I don’t think Joe took a lie detector test. Someone on Nancy Grace just then Monday night asked why Joe the cousin was not given one.
Nancy and her guests all said it is against the law to force someone to take one. They all said the same thing, so he apparently did not have one. If he did all her guests were not aware of it.

Now, after this I will go back and think Joe did it.

He did Minnie. I promise. If he failed one, he would have been arrested.
    B

  34. Minnie says:

    Oh O.K. Blink.
I think I was kinding of hoping he did it.(JOE)

Now, I will go back and start thinking again Misty gave her or let her by mistake take Ron’s pills or White boy Greg’s lolypops.

I think it also could have been finally getting rid of all the people in her house and little Haleigh would not go to bed so Misty could get some sleep, so she gave her a pill or two.

  35. MsEnscene says:

Was Misty even there in the MH that fateful night? Think about it. She acts like someone who was hurriedly given a script and doesn’t have a lot of time to memorize it. She’s okay with the questions from “LE” in the practice sessions, but when non-practiced questions by the real LE or the Media are asked of her, she gets so mixed up.

Finally, when Greta or Meredity on TV asks her “Why are your stories not consistent?” Misty is stumped. She looks at her knight errant for help with that very tough question, but Ron ignores her and she’s on her own. She then squeaks out. “I dunno!”

Maybe she doesn’t know what really happened. She’s inconsistant because she’s not in the know about it all.

Who would be giving her the script to learn?

  36. Randie says:

NG “show” stretches the truth, or skips it all together ;o)

  37. Mary says:

I think Misty will implicate who was responsible very soon, and especially is she thinks Ron is going to throw her under the bus..This case needs a new set of eyes and ears..Nothing seems to be working, unless LE knows a lot more than they are saying, which they more than likely do..
    IMO

  38. JR says:

LE has GOT to know more than they are saying, one must hope so at least. I agree with Msenscene that Ron has higher connections, as well as stakes in this case – more than we know.I only wonder what this latest news of his plea deal indicates as his latest of scumbag moves:

    A) pleading guilty to his involvement in the drug case (since he’s smack dab there in those videos) and testifying against Misty in her drug case as his only means to reduce his years. the testimony to help the prosecution beat any potential defense such as the entrapment she could use. even implicating her as the “ringleader” while in reality, he likely ‘trained’ her and threw her in the dealing trenches first, then only accompanied her once it seemed a new big buyer was sealed (for him) and the coast was cleared (by her). Most guys who have their girlfriends do the dirty and dangerous work of the drug trade are typically the ones who will throw them under the bus to save their own ass in a heartbeat.

    B) If they have enough video/audio evidence to lock Misty’s case and Ron’s testimony isn’t worth their compromise of 30 years, than he’s plead guilty to the drug charges and giving his testimony to lock Misty and possibly Tommy in the Haliegh case. Both would be a risky move if they have anything on him (which I believe they do) but I also believe he’s much more capable of strategizing than they are and covered himself with his own devised Plan A, Plan B, Plan etc…from the beginning. He can already place them at the trailer much better than anyone can place him, so if there is anything on him…by this point it only looks like ‘them lying Croslins only got their words’ and nothing else to prove it.

I’m not trying to paint Misty and Tommy as angelic victims. I know they were druggies and can certainly be liars, especially a scumbag move if they’ve falsely implicated Joe out of desperation to save themselves. But I don’t think they are intentional, hateful evil doers nor are they slick or capable enough of pulling all this off for this long over Ron’s and LE’s eyes.

But if news of Ron’s ‘plea’ doesn’t make Misty say something new now, then I will be forced to re-think everything – because its likely nothing will.

  39. Samantha says:

Isn’t Suzanne and Jean Vincent the Psychic Sister’s helping out on the Haleigh Cummings investigation? I heard that they gave a detailed psychic reading to Marie Griffis, Crystal Sheffield and to law enforcement about what happened to Haleigh Cummings.

  40. MsEnscene says:

JR…as per usual I think you are right on it!

  41. Charlotte says:

We need an update on the Haleigh case. Need to dig too far down to find out what’s going on. Anyone hear anything new?

  42. MsEnscene says:

One thing that confounds me about this case (only one thing?) is how all these drug-addled nincompoops living off the taxpayers can have their high-priced private attourneys. Ron had two teams one for his custody issues with Crystal S. and one for his trafficking criminal case. He also had one of them act as his mouthpiece when his daughter went missing. Misty has her own attorney as does Tommy Croslin. The Croslin cousin, Joe, whom the Satsuma pillpoppers have all thrown under the bus has had his own attorney for three years. All these fine folk are being represented pro bono? What a great lot of hearts in lawyer land. Who knew?

If I got into the kind of trouble facing the Croslin/Cummings bunch, I know darned well that I would be hard-pressed to afford a private attorney and would be represented by a PD.

  43. MsEnscene says:

Wow! MizNancy came at Mark Klass tonight with all her Mama Bear claws showing when Mark intimated that Ron is not all some people hold him up to be, i.e. Ron is not the Angel Gabriel in all his shining beatific illumination. Ha. Mark didn’t back down and calmly reiterated what he thinks Ron really is and why he chooses young girls to shack up with.

“So, you don’t like his lifestyle! What has that got to do with Haleigh?” queries Miz Nancy. Mark says, “Perhaps Misty [in her latest to be revealed tapes] is finally coming to a place of clarity about Ron.”

MizNancy refused absolutely to go to that place of clarity, herself.
“None so blind as she who cannot see.”

I apolly in advance to my friends who are on her exec staff, but I am in a no BS mood-

If Miss Nancy would trip over a researcher, and gain intel, via osmosis, about any case she covers, ever, it would lead to the complete betterment of her reputation and program.

I am not holding my breath.
    B

  44. MsEnscene says:

    Ha. Blink! Good one.
MizNancy also gave Art Harris a whatfor when he repeated a story from Ronald’s MH neighbor who said Misty asked him “Pray for me.”

“Don’t bring God into this, Art Harris!”

Harris tried to finish by saying “Well, I am just reporting what the neighbor said, Nancy.” MizNancy cut him off sharply, imo, because he had other to report than “Misty is the Mastermind”.

I am beginning to believe those stories circulating that Ronald has/had MizNancy on speed dial throughout his travails.

  45. JR says:

MsEnscene – Wow, i’m just seeing the nancy grace ‘weekend special’ now (re-run). what IS up Nancyyyyy? always the first to harp on everyone else’s unsavory life styles even those with much less relevance to a case. Mark Klass usually tells it like it is and even has her respect for being ‘bang on’, but not tonight ….not with poor ol’ Ron. Is she too, really under his ‘man of Satsuma’ spell? Does she have some stake in appeasing him for the purpose of her show? Does she have some agreement with LE to keep things appearing a certain way for the purpose of their case? (let’s hope that’s it) OR is she really just that dumb?

I also notice she rarely has Pat Brown on, or as much as she should. that is someone (who I think knows what they are talking about) and also someone who Nancy couldn’t verbally abuse like everyone else. Pat Brown also pointed in the beginning of this coverage on Nancy Grace, Misty failed the voice stress test with one of the deceptive questions being the involvement of Ron. Apparently that point was deemed irrelevant on the show and obviously that whole ‘theme’ continues to be irrelevant there now.

PS – MsEnscene you were wondering how these people landed all their attorneys…my guess would be pure publicity in cases like this. they’d have to pay a hell of a lot of money to get anywhere near this scope of advertising and the kind to actually stick in people’s heads!

Blink – you always have the most eloquent way of summing these things up (your NG comment) – HaHaa.

  46. Pomona71 says:

Please use if you think appropriate to the Haleigh case.
In Putnam County, home of Haleigh Cummings and many others,
it is the weekend of the Blue Crab Festival in downtown
Palatka near the St. Johns River bridge. Saturday, about
10:00 a.m. a man was walking around the booths being set up
on St. Johns Avenue, asking people if they had children
under 18 and to fill out a card for an Amber Alert. A local
resident (neighbor of mine) asked where was his group,
did he have I.D. and when the man looks nervous and she was
suspicious, she said she was going to check with LD. He ran
off down the middle of St. Johns Avenue toward the waterfront.
She could not find any obvious LE but did contact a worker and asked
for help. She was director a man in a red shirt – that is what the
securit for the Blue Crab Festival wears. She later called the
Sheriff’s office and was told Palatka PD handled that area, so she
reported the situation to them. A warning to all: don’t give out
information to just anyone on the street. In fact, report any such
suspicious activity. Children could be in danger if someone knows
where they live; also, the bad guys know who isn’t home at that
particular time. No one wants to come home to a crime scene (robbery).

  47. MsEnscene says:

JR…I have my own ideas about MizNancy and they do not include her sanitizing Ron for the sake of working with LE to keep Ronald thinking he’s in the clear. Nancy Grace gets altogether too upset when anyone tries to point to Ron Cummings as suspect in any way, even if it;s only his life-style, as she did with Pat Brown and Mark Klass.

I think she, from the first, caught Ronfever, a malady which seems to affect mostly middle-aged and grandmotherly ladies who relate to him passionately for a variety of reasons…the economically stressed grieving young dad being one, but mainly for reasons of, putting it nicely, romantic attraction to his roguish masculine “charms”.

Almost to a person, those entranced with Ronald Cummings trash the mother of his children as Nancy did when she had the poor benumbed Crystal on her show. She raked that woman over the coals because the mother wasn’t sure when Haleigh got out of school in the p.m.. In contrast to her treatment of Crystal, Nancy has always been soft, even a bit treacly with Ronald Cummings always choking back tears as she relates how “poor daddy came home from a night at work, and NO HALEIGH!”

NG continually shows videos with Misty and the UC officer selling drugs, but never makes allusion to Ron in the backseat masterminding the whole deal and admitting how he likes to get “high” and asking the UC about getting some “powder”.

Even if one doesn’t believe Ronald actually killed his daughter deliberatly or go along with Ron covering up after the fact of an accident in which Haleigh died, one could possibly see that his lifestyle of drugging and distributing and living with an underage, unstable druggie was not a life conducive to keeping his daughter safe.

  48. MsEnscene says:
