I know I’ve commented something like this before — Kaine’s email is totally normal among engineers at Intel. He wrote like we always do, I didn’t see anything weird about it when it was forwarded to me.

Remember, he wrote that for coworkers to read, not the general public. I’m sure he would have written it differently if it were a press release.

RE the ‘don’t talk to the media’ part: The email I got didn’t have that. Surely he just wanted the focus to remain on Kyron and not have any mixed messages going out.

RE Intel Legal – we take our computers home with us, he might have wanted to get input on what would happen if law enforcement asked to search his computer.

Finally, regarding the personality that so many people are painting him with — I don’t know Kaine, but I can tell you that 10 years at Intel has made me much more of a type-A (assertive, straight forward) personality than I was when I started. I’m betting the same has happened to him.

    Wow Blink!

I just listened to the Sheriff’s presser again, slowly, with the volume all the way up lol! I just wanna pinch that man’s cheeks…he appears so genuinely kind hearted! I listened to all the questions & all the answers. He says that Terri has been cooperative, etc. However, which is very telling to me, is the fact that when asked about the cell pings that he can’t comment on that, then directly after that he was asked if Terri’s lied to the authorities & he again said he couldn’t comment. Something just clicked in my head. They’re playing good cop bad cop! I really believe this. It could mess with her head to see Kaine, Desiree & Tony appear as a united front imploring her to be cooperative & tell everything she knows. Tony is an upstanding criminal detective. I, myself, have found nothing negative about him, nothing at all. I have no doubt in my mind that he’s directing Terri & Kaine & rightfully so since he has a vested interest in Kyron. Law enforcement is a brotherhood so to speak (females please don’t take that out of context). Terri goes on record to say that as far as she knows she’s not considered to be a suspect. The sheriff goes on air to state just that, that she’s been cooperative, etc., and that everyone’s a poi & they haven’t names a/any suspect yet. They’re trying to play the good cop. I’m thinking it’s to do a lil bit of damage control to get back in her good graces so she’ll slip up. When you trust someone, it would only be natural to slip up with them. If your guard is up, 9 X out of 10 you’ll clam up. The authorities are attempting to make her feel comfortable. This makes sense to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were attempting to talk to her, saying “We know you just wanted him to be safe, trust us, we know you’ve had it hard, we know we know we know”…only hypothetical…”but if you’d just tell us where he is, we’ll make it easy on you”…just sayin’… What the hell were Terri &/or Kaine involved in? I mean, seriously, this is ridiculous!

I want more info on the houseboat that the sock was found near & I want to know if it’s possible that sock actually belonged to the perp! Could Kyron be buried in the mud? Could Kyron have been placed on a boat & taken out to sea? Could Kyron still actually be alive? If the police really think he’s alive, I seriously hope they go on record to say that the sock found is NOT related to Kyron’s disappearance in any way at all…not just say that it wasn’t Kyron’s sock!

Terri, if you read here, if any of your family or friends read here, please do the right thing and tell everything you know. If you’re truly a Christian, if you truly believe in GOD Heaven & Hell, please tell everything that you know. Feeling guilty or innocent is beside the point, as a Christian you should know that GOD will guide you. Tell the authorities everything you know, please.

  4. Titch says:

@ Kaine, just in case you read here, too…We’re sleuthing you baby! Lemme tell ya. You may not wanna come clean about all your indescretions bc you want the focus to be on Terri, but there’s a reason your exwife filed a RO on you when you first split. There’s a reason Terri gained wait & changed so drastically this past year. All of us amateur internet dicks see it with our own eyes. We all understand you want the focus to be on Kyron. Then just get everything out in the open so it can be sleuthed through & be over & done with! Multnomah County is running out of money. They need the media’s help. The public help the media my dear. Please help us help you. Please.

I agree with Jackie B there is nothing nefarious about mentioning legal in kaines intel memo. It is SOP for corporations. Also, I was given to understand DY’s restraining order against Kaine was automatically generated by the court–that is, also SOP. I just want to put that out there so our theories aren’t too divorced from reality.

  10. shelbar says:

I’m going under the assumption that Teri acted alone and she planned it, a risky plan but a well planned one. {premeditation}. I can’t get past one issue.. That pesky cell phone. I think she knew she could be traced via the phone…hum so what to do what to do hum. She needed it on in case the school called with kyron being absent, if they couldn’t reach her then heaven forbid the school calls Kaine.

what TIME did she send the EMAIL about picking up the science project?

So did she get Kyron in the truck then drive around a bit to see if the school called? Did she go home with kyron and send the email while kyron was still alive. Making sure the “coast was clear”. So far no calls from the school.

Window of opportunity is open. Teri, thinking she is so smart turns her phone off, not realizing it’s still pinging {won’t ping with a dead battery}. she drives to SI to her preplanned burial site, completes the task, gets back over the bridge, turns phone back on. Looks and to her relief…NO call from the school. Is there a phone log showing if her phone is off then on and if off, where was she during that time? I would like to see the documents of her phone being turned off a certain times’ and where she was.

I really want to see her phone pings for the past several months…is she always showing up on SI like to scout for a place, then does she stay in one area long enough to say, dig a grave? then keep going back to that place to dig the grave deeper and case the place for any hikers/dog walkers going by. She needs a real secluded place.

She didn’t wake up one day and decide, hey I think I will murder Kyron today. Nope…well planned out. I hope the FBI is doing a cell ping check of her daily routine for every day for months and months. Get an idea how she spent her days and what secluded out of the way place she kept visiting.

  11. Karen says:

Apparently, the exclusion of certain reporters from PC’s is a unified decision by Kaine/Desiree/Tony. Their grievance is the focus of coverage of the case on personal/relationship issues rather than on Kyron:

    http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/dailyweekly/2010/07/kyron_hormans_parents_upset_ab.php

Today, I have been revisiting a thought that has entered my mind fleetingly over the past two weeks. It seems odd to me that LE has obtained replicas of Kyron’s eyeglasses and the clothes he wore when he disappeared. I have never heard of that practice in any other case, but am wondering if that is SOP during a MP investigation? What purpose would it serve since enlarged photos of Kyron on the day of his disappearance have been widely circulated? The possibility that the eyeglasses presented as replicas by LE could be Kyron’s original pair has already been raised, and an altered photo of Kyron without eyeglasses has been circulated. There was speculation that Kyron’s eyeglasses were either mailed to his family by his abductor or were discovered by LE during their search. I think I previously suggested that the eyeglasses may have been planted by the perp, if the latter scenario is true. If they were planted to throw investigators off the trail, then it’s possible that the clothing presented by LE as replicas are the actual clothes that Kyron was wearing and they, too, might have been planted by the perp for the same reason. Suppose, then, that the perp planned the kidnapping well in advance and even purchased new clothing for Kyron before the day he disappeared. Since Kyron seems to have disappeared within a very short time frame – between 8:45 and 9:00 on June 4 – and on a day when many parents were at the school so that the perp (supposing she/he has a child at Skyline School) could easily blend in without rousing suspicion, the plot does seem to have been carefully orchestrated. Even if Kyron’s disappearance had been noticed at school and, subsequently, reported earlier in the day, the abductor could easily have left the vicinity with Kyron undetected since the description of Kyron given by LE would not have matched his actual appearance during their flight. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if they traveled across the country unnoticed.

Another issue on my mind is the knowledge that Kyron has ADHD. If I’m not mistaken, I read that he is on medication for it. Therefore, he has been without medication for a month now so he may be at the point of being unmanageable. The consequence could be either good or bad, depending on the abductor’s response. I don’t think I need to describe the worst-case scenario should the perp become exasperated with Kyron, nor do I want to consider it. The alternative, though, is that Kyron’s abductor will release him (TH may have felt confident all along that the perp would eventually regret taking Kyron and confident that her/his response would be to release him unharmed).

Again, the perp’s rationale for taking Kyron rather than Kiara may be nothing more than opportunity. Whereas the perp may have a child who attends Skyline School, the perp may not have a child in daycare, or at least not in the same daycare as Kiara. There would be additional obstacles to removing a child from daycare: it is a more controlled environment, with greater supervision; each child is delivered and picked up directly; arrangements are made in advance as to who will pick up each child, so a different person trying to claim a child without authorization from the parent would be questioned. In an elementary school, children are encouraged to be more independent. Many ride the bus, so they are not escorted to their classrooms. Some children, as early as first grade, even walk to school by themselves. It is my understanding that Kyron routinely rode a school bus, but was driven by SM on the day of the science fair since she was attending the science fair with him and they needed to arrive early.

Dexter makes it quick. And it is what most people want to do to people who rape and kill children, babies and women.

So, Blink, would love to see you do a story on this one. Wow. I’m thinking maybe this is why Kaine disinvited the Oregonian & the WW from the presser bc they’re sort of renegades & maybe Kaine didn’t want this released bc it would take the focus off of finding Kyron. I’d have OCD over this too, who the heck wouldn’t? Maybe this is why MCSO did their most recent presser which appeared they were trying to smooth over Terri. Maybe, just maybe, the Oregonian let them know they were running this for their Sunday July 4th headline! Yep, I think it sort of adds up…coupled with the fact that Terri’s packing heat right now with Houze.

FYI: I want to know more about Brian & Ann, as well as Lisa & Gramma. Something doesn’t add up. Even Tarver has provided some misinformation. He told the paper that James moved in with him a few months ago or something but according to his wife Angela’s Facebook, she received a comment i February asking her how long they’ve had James & Angela’s response was “About a month”. So, what gives with all the indescrepancies? I still wanna know if it was just a common mistake for Gramma Moulton to say James was gonna be gone for the weekend camping on a scout outing with his father but his father specifically states that James was brought to his mother’s house for a weeklong scheduled visit the day after Kyron vanished. Why is there so much misinformation?

And please oh please could you help me get on SM? I don;t understand why I haven’t received a response yet…I love Scared Monkeys! I found that forum when Natalee Holloway went missing…it’s literally been that long.

Not a scenario that ever crossed my mind. My first reaction was to deny that this is true, but . . .

But why on EARTH would she hire a landscaper thinking he would be a likely candidate to murder for $$$? I don’t follow the logic at all. I mean, do you get out the phone book, and say “I need an assassin, so let’s look under lawn care?” Did she think he’d have the equipment to dig a hole or what?

Was it just a random comment when she was angry? Because of . . . trouble between Kaine and James?

Or if she was serious, did she keep looking? Did she change her attention to Kyron, or did she get hooked up with someone who didn’t play her way?

    Sighing and praying for Kyron.

Detectives with the Multnomah County Major Crimes Team shared the landscaper’s account with Kyron’s father, Kaine Horman, last weekend, prompting him to leave the house June 26 with the couple’s 19-month-old daughter.

Within two days, he obtained a family law attorney and filed divorce papers and a petition for a restraining order under the Family Abuse Prevention Act.
Investigators also recorded a conversation June 26 among the cooperating landscaper, Terri Horman and an undercover law enforcement officer, but Horman shut down the conversation fairly quickly, sources said.

Detectives later confronted Terri Horman directly with the murder-for-hire allegation, which she denied, sources say. She has not been charged with a crime, as a criminal investigation proceeds.

Terri Horman retained prominent criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze on Wednesday. Repeated attempts to reach Houze, who was on the East Coast, were unsuccessful. A woman who answered the door at Terri Horman’s house Saturday referred questions to her attorney.

Laura Rackner, Kaine Horman’s attorney, declined to comment Saturday night other than to say: “I just want to do whatever is going to help law enforcement right now.”

After Kyron disappeared June 4, investigators with the county’s Major Crimes Team tracked down the landscaper in the course of trying to interview everyone who had contact with the boy’s family. They also found it odd that Terri Horman had hired a landscaper without her husband’s knowledge.

The landscaper, contacted by The Oregonian last week, confirmed that he was hired to do lawn work at the Horman home off Northwest Sheltered Nook Road. He said he’s talked with detectives and could not comment further. His name is being withheld to protect his identity as a cooperating witness in an ongoing criminal investigation.

Detectives last weekend also shared the information they developed about the alleged murder-for-hire scheme with Kyron’s mother and stepdad, Desiree and Tony Young — providing a clearer indication of why the two banded together with Kaine Horman and the three suddenly and publicly distanced themselves from Terri Horman.

I have been following the conversation about Kyron on your site.I woke up this morning to this story and thought you would find it more then a little interesting (you may have seen it already).

“A landscaper who worked for Kyron Horman’s family at their rural Northwest Portland home told authorities that the missing boy’s stepmom offered to pay him to kill her husband.

The landscaper told authorities that Terri Moulton Horman approached him with the murder-for-hire plot six to seven months before Kyron disappeared, The Oregonian has learned.”

Stop me if you’ve heard this already this morning, but OregonLive is reporting that Terri tried hiring a landscaper to kill Kaine 7 months before Kyron went missing. Could that be the reason for the RO? It’s my best guess

    According to the Portland Tribune,
    http://www.portlandtribune.com/news/story.php?story_id=127825632045084200

“The Multnomah County Sheriffs Office has no comment,” Lt. Mary Lindstrand, the office’s public information officer, told the Portland Tribune.

So where did the story come from? A landscaper looking for his 15 minutes? A leak from Kaine or someone familiar with his RO? To get Kaine back out of the negative-controlling discussions?

  43. Mama says:

Looks like TH hired a hitman to kill Kaine several months ago.

Wow. Just wow. I have to say, in Kaine’s defense, that if I thought my spouse were trying to hire the landscaper to “accidentally” run me thru the tree shredder, I’d move out, file a RO, and take the child. I’d have taken the cat, too. If this is true stuff, and LE must give it some credibility to have let the story get out and to have told Kaine about it, then TH has some really serious issues, and I know some people here think Kaine’s “control-freak” behavior has driven her to do some of these things, but really, she’s making these kinds of choices herself. Murder for hire doesn’t scream “honest, caring, loving mother with integrity”. Just doesn’t.

Bad stuff happens to all of us, but it’s our individual response to these bad things that defines our character, who we are, what we’re made of, and what murder for hire, if true, tells me is that TH is made of some very scary things.
