Portland, OR-  The tangled web that is the life of Terri Horman continues to weave.

terri-horman

In an Exclusive development to blinkoncrime.com, a Portland local, declining to be identified, provides the bombshell revelation that Terri Horman was behind the 5:16PM call to 911 last June 26th.

The object of her “threat based” call to 911 requiring officers response?

The Landscaper, in his white truck, on her property, demanding his payment for $10,000.

The same Portland source confirmed that an undercover detective, playing the role of an associate of the landscaper turned alleged assassin, was present. It was also confirmed a bulk of the incident was overheard on the police scanner.  The Truck registration and plate were called in on an open channel as well.

What they did not count on, during the surreptitious meeting, was that Terri Horman would shut down the brief meeting and call Police; thwarting what they were hopeful would end in an arrest.

Kaine Horman had been advised to remove the couples 18 month old daughter in advance, for their safety, earlier in the day.

Upon deputies arrival, as informed by Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office about the sting, detectives were forced to tell Terri Horman she was a suspect.  Horman hired Stephen Houze, prominent Portland defense attorney by Monday June 28th.

The identity of the landscaper has been withheld as this is an ongoing investigation, but blinkoncrime.com has learned that it is contained in the sealed portion of the restraining order obtained by Kaine Horman.

Respectfully, FairWitness, your POV on blended families is a bit offensive. Let’s keep the focus on Kyron.

  2. Cat says:

Perhaps this indicates a “hit job” gone terribly wrong? Kyron being the end result of “debt not paid”? It seems to me that if Terri did indeed place a “hit” out on Kaine, enough proof exists to lock her up at this point. Perhaps she is being used (knowingly) to assist LE in the recovery of Kyron?

  3. Titch says:

    Good morning everybody,

Wanted to say to Blink & editors – awesome job. To the posters, I didn’t do anything but bring over a person’s comment from in the area that had a connection to one of those scanners. What I heard myself on the online scanner link showed major commotion at that address, definitely, but what this other person heard between herself & her friend was from a police scanner – which provides more info. This poster also said look for the 911 transcript but I can’t find it anywhere. I do believe this to be true, that this landscaper was probably wired & yelling something about money in the Horman’s driveway. In all reality, why didn’t this twit go to the popo right away when she supposedly attempted to hire him? This is an awesome story, Blink.

I have a question, though…Could this dude be trying to blackmail Terri or something? I find it incredibly odd that Ann Pumala moved away to Arizona with Kyron gone. Brian told Tanner that he heard it on the news about Kyron, so how could Ann not have known? Wouldn’t she have stayed knowing Kyron’s Tanner’s best friend…no matter if she was having difficulty with Brian or not? After being on SM last night, something’s itching the back of my neck…we’re missing something. When I google satellite 18212 NW 6th Ave, Portland OR 97231 under directions & use 14968 Northwest Mill Road, Portland OR, I notice that Brian’s houseboat is directly to the right of the truck sighting. I zoom in & see that there’s numerous trails, some of which are very hard to see bc of the tree tops when the satellite captured the data, so I need to look really hard, looking for spaces jetting out. It appears there’s some paths or roads that lead to another road, shortcut through the forest of trees? Maybe the truck turned down the dead end by accident. Maybe they meant to turn at the next road, or the next path after that. The 1st truck sighting was when Terri was with Kaine, supposedly, around 3:00. This is what’s putting me on the fence now. Could this be an attempt to blackmail Terri? The students at the school that suspected something, I’ll bet it was about this guy or the Pumala dude. Blink, just wondering if maybe Terri could have been seeing this guy & it was an affair gone bad when she tried to get away from him. Hypothetically speaking, maybe she started an affair with Pumala & landscaper guy got mad. Wouldn’t be the first time something happened like that. I find it incredibly coincidental that you mentioned Pumala in an article & Pumala’s houseboat residence is directly to the right of the google map using the addresses I gave, landscaper guy has a white truck (?) so I wonder if it’s connected. Maybe the 2nd sighting, the one around 11:30ish that was suspiscious, maybe they were driving slow bc they were afraid to miss the shortcut again or make the wrong turn again. Maybe Kyron was hidden that morning, then moved in the middle of the night. Maybe the 3:00 sighting of the truck was to scope out info or to check on their “hidden” agenda?

The Horman’s roots in Masonry goes back many many years. Could this have something to do with why Kaine’s not coming under fire? Or is it bc all circumstantial evidence is only pointing to Terri? It bugs me that Kristian only got 6 months in jail & wish I could let it go, but it’s not normal to only get 6 months and to serve that time in a jail. A Jail, seriously? Where I live, he would have gone to jail when he was being held, then transferred to a prison. If he was deemed a threatening predator, that prison would be of higher security. Doesn’t make sense. Not trying to throw any confusion into the mix, only wondering about this bc it’s bugging me.

Sorry about the book. Wyks & Rob really made me think last night. Only trying to be thorough. Wonder what you can find out? Thanks for making this such a great site to be part of, Blink. Have a great day!

  4. Charlotte says:

Okay Blink, I have to ask. Kaine is obviously still alive so the LS either turned her down or she changed her mind. That being said – why would he still be arrested? Are you eluding to the fact that he did something with Kyron and that is why she owes him money? Please explain.

  5. Titch says:

& something else…Going on the assumption that the authorities have Kyron’s glasses, where did they come from? Media reports they are a replica. Internet posters suggest they were mailed to someone, possibly with a ransome note, and it’s my belief they went right there to “ransome” due to Kaine’s cryptic email advising everyone to NOT talk to the media. Well I wonder if the police found them in one of the vehicles and that’s why they released the photo of Kyron without them, maybe that’s why the family was playing on heartstrings saying those glasses are Kyron’s lifeline & he’s lost without them. I don;t think they were mailed to the cops – I really think they found them somewhere – quite possible in a crevice in a vehicle.

  6. mayhem says:

So, the murder plot went sour on Kaine, so the landscaper killed the kid instead? That just doesn’t make any sense…I would think killers require more money to dispose of a child.

And if there was a money trail that LE uncovered, then the killer would have been somewhat satisfied with getting payment for doing nothing so far. WHY kidnap a child because the father was “inconvenient” to get to?

Unless the intent all along was to get rid of both. Maybe Kaine wasn’t supposed to go to the bus stop that day.

  7. lily says:

Well Blink – this is starting to make a whole lot more sense. I was so hoping someone closer to the situation would find a way to fill in some of the details. Thanks to you and to Titch! I think its going to be an interesting few days to see who rolls over on whom and all of the ass-covering maneuvers to follow.

Well now, if that is true, there are some other options for charges I will sit on until confirmed.

    My current thoughts…

LS was still going thru with the MFH of Kaine but Kyron needed to go first so that TH would get all the insurance money.

    -OR-

LS was supposed to take Kyron first and then nab and kill KH that same day BUT then KH came home to work that afternoon and screwed up TH’s perfect plan.

Blink and co. – Great job!! Hopefully we are getting closer to finding our little tree frog expert!!! Praying for Kyron!!!

  11. rollermonkey says:

Makes sense. Stanton kept saying Kyron “Holmes,” and I wondered about that!

  12. Starsky says:

Blink, was there evidence of a “down payment” ever being made to the LS?
Do you think LS had an accomplice in play several months ago?
Do we know if the glasses were sent with a ransom note, or is that rumor?
Do you think the landscaper changed his story and pretended the hit was supposed to be on Kaine because he thought it would remove suspicion from him being involved with Kyron’s disappearance? I am guessing that potentially LS involved an accomplice who did what they were supposed to be paid to do to Kyron. Glasses might have come to the house with a ransom note that was not paid, so the plan backfired. I doubt poor Ky is alive still. I think LS did not talk about his accomplice for fear of retaliation. Instead he approached police with the Kaine story in hopes that it would pressure TH to come up with the money. Am I far fetched?

  13. GriffyMom says:

FairWitness, I believe you are way out of line to say something like this is the result of divorced/step parents. Parents kill their biological children all to often in this country. Caylee Anthony was Casey’s own daughter. I gave birth to three children and have three stepchildren as well. My husband and I love all six of them and would go to any lengths to protect them. It sounds like Terri Horman is a woman with a great deal of evil in her. While it may seem she loves, adores, and dotes on her biological daughter, I don’t believe she loves anyone more than she loves herself. I hope she is ensnared in her web of lies and pays a mighty price for hurting that precious child.

Hang On. Before anyone strings up Fair Witness, that is taken out of context.

Fair is a proponent of conservative ideals, which at the root, I think most are. That said, it has been my experience people do show their worst attributes in times of divorce and separation, which is what I took from that. I do not know anyone that has been through divorce that says, whew, can’t wait to do that again.

People that hurt chldren, have capacities unrelated to their marital status, imo.

  14. susan says:

If LS was going to “off” Kaine, he would want to do it in an inconspicuous way, such as a house fire, or make it look like KH committed suicide, so he would not be implicated. Perhaps Kyron was sent away with LS until Kaine’s accidental situation could be ‘arranged’ by TH and LS. Then when Ky went missing, TH realized that she could not go through with this, see how sad and mixed up she looks in the press conference, not to mention suspicious and guilty. I do not think that TH realized that this thing of KY missing would take on the national significance and take over the public consciousness like it has. Obviously, with the huge uproar over KY that TH did not expect, she could not off Kaine, it was already pointing to her. Also, Kaine was clinging to her in the beginning of the Ky missing incident, which is what she wanted.

That is just a theory, but I do not think the ‘offing’ would be like a mob hit. It would look more like a fire or an accident. Or maybe it would have been orchestrated to look like a suicide on Kaine;s part following the disappearance of his son.

Perhaps Ky going missing WAS part of the plan. LE knows more than we do, and they would not have sent LS over there to collect unless there was something he did for her, besides the non-landscaping. I think he knows TH’s whole plan from the git-go.

  15. Lisa says:

Could we please stop making Terri the victim in this tragedy? I don’t know why people think she couldn’t possibly hurt Kyron because she raised him. Mothers have killed their children, step and biological.

I am not seeing that, I am seeing the opposite.
    B

  16. Charlotte says:

Wow, is this saying that there was a SECOND LS solicited?

Meanwhile, a landscaper recently hired by the Hormans said he was contacted by detectives and cooperated with the investigation. Police have confirmed a report that Terri Horman tried to pay another as yet unnamed landscaper to kill her husband, Kaine Horman, in 2009.

    http://www.katu.com/news/local/97845894.html

Yep. I would say we have our third unsub.
Shout out to LE- well played.
    B

  17. seemeatthebeach says:

Just because Terri shut down the meeting/conversation with landscaper and called 911 doesn’t mean she had nothing to do with the disappearance of Kyron, in fact it could mean she had hired another hit-man/kidnapper and knew the landscaper had nothing to do with Kyron. Terri Horman would surely know who was and was not involved.
I’m pretty sure LE realizes TH could have successfully hired another hit-man after the landscaper refused.

I believe the landscaper is admitting his possible involvement- why else would he be demanding payment?
    B

  18. susan says:

To Titch, Blink, and all involved: Good Job. Great Job, in fact.

Note to Titch, I think Ann Pumala is Tanner’s step mother, but you probably know this already. The actual mother is Lisa Fuhrer, aka Pebbles.

Seems I read something in BP’s facebook about the desert, going to Arizona, etc in the past. Maybe a vacation spot? But in the summer? I do not know.

  19. CB says:

I agree with an earlier post – I think she does act scared – like something has gone terribly wrong. Why would the landscaper want an advance pt. for Kayne in the middle of this mess, does not make sense. Was he supposed to hide Kyron but was he instead harmed and did they meet on Sauvie Island (report of speeding cars there that day?) In a panic she could have just gone along with Kyron missing from school at that point as she was too scared to admit involvement. Sounds worse and worse. Prayers for Kyron and all who love him.

  20. kp says:

Forgive me if I’m stating the obvious, but it seems likely Terri knew this was a set-up. She was a fan of detective shows. She knows how these things go down. If the landscaper was also at risk for arrest, then he could have acted strangely to tip her off. The police wouldn’t know what was strange to her, since they were never around for the relationship between these two. I could say something in a way that would make my boyfriend completely freak out, and no one else would think anything of it. It sucks that this sting thing didn’t go to plan, but I guess I wouldn’t have expected it to. I’m surprised they were surprised.

  21. ode says:

Possible plot, just a thought….child goes missing and is not found. Distressed father ends his own life due to grief…with a little help from his friends (joke)..I saw something this weekend that there was a 2 year suicide clause in this particular life insurance policy ( nothing to do with this case) , so I guess I am wrong to think that life insurance never pays after suicide. Did SM have Daddy get another life ins. policy after his daughter was born. Was his demise to happen a few months from now? Poor Kyron would not be around to inherit any money, just mommy and her little girl. Also do we know for sure that the LS is a man?

  22. mamasocks says:

You couldn’t make this story up (and I read a lot). Why would police believe that Terri wouldn’t see through this sting? Seems off somehow. What it did was make her get attorney and not talk any more. Terri is suspect in Kyron’s missing and pd thinks she would not see though this? Unbelievable. Still have strong doubts about her husband and don’t know why – not based on facts but on gut. This is the best site for this on-going soap opera.

  23. Lori D says:

Thank you so much for all the great work that goes into this site!

ok, so Terri tries to hire hitman but fails? or does hitman string her along so she thinks on June 4th hubby will get murdered and Kyron would be kidnapped making it a murder/kidnapping? Or was the taking of Kyron an alternate plan?

I was of the opinion originally that Terri wasn’t capable of allowing a child she raised to be harmed, but after this new development, I’ve changed my opinion of her. I think in her mind the end justifies the means.
I remember a detective saying once that there are 3 motives for murder, sex, money, or power.. what was Terri’s motive? or was it all 3?

As I’m typing my 6yr. old grandson, whom I’m raising is attempting to read over my shoulder and wanted to know what I was reading about. So, I told him the short, cleaned up version. His response.. “sounds like the stepmom is more worried about herself than the kid”.

  24. kp says:

It’s also possible the landscaper changed the amount owed so there could be no doubt it was a set-up. He tells the police it’s 10k, when actually it’s 15k, or something like that. Something subtle to tip her off.

  25. Word Girl says:

What evidence do we have that the landscaper is telling the truth? Maybe he passed his poly. Does he have a tape recording of her talking about their plan? Has he received partial payment? There has to be something more solid for LE to go to this extreme–at least, I hope so.

Right now we have hearsay. The landscaper says she tried to hire me to have her husband killed! She tells police that this guy is nuts and she did no such thing–in fact, get him off my property!
Certainly, TH could have cleverly called 911 to distance herself from the LS because she sniffed out that he was trying to set her up. Most people aren’t good actors and LS’s tone may have belied his words.

I have a feeling she will be arrested and have to defend herself in court for the murder-for-hire charge. Unless LE has something really good on her, she won’t be convicted, but might have to spend a lot of time in jail while the case drags on. Once she’s inside, though, there is less chance for her to slip up/send emails/respond to blogs/say something to a friend.

There is a window of opportunity here and I believe law enforcement is desperately working to solve the case and find Kyron. Sadly, I don’t think he is alive.

“When I saw him that morning, I was on my way to work and he and I talked out in our front yard. He was out feeding our cat, heading back inside and just gave each other a big hug, told him to have a great day at the science fair with his project, that I was proud of him for all the effort and just the amazing project that he had put together and to to just have a wonderful day.”

    THIRD

A: KAINE – I last saw him at about 7:45 am. He was coming back to the house after feeding our cat (Bootsie) and I was heading out to the car to head into the office. I walked over to him, told him I was extremely proud of him for the effort he put into his red-eyed tree frog project, and for him to have a great and fun day at the science fair. We talked about maybe going for a special treat and playing the Wii after school, and then I said “I love you”. He said “I love you too, Dad”, at which point we hugged, and then he went into the house as I got into the car and left. While I have not seen him since, that moment in time is still etched in my mind as if it just happened and is a constant reminder of the joy of having him as a son.

  35. retro says:

thanks titch and blink! Could it be that the police had the landscaper go there and demand a down payment if advance to kill Kaine, like he and TH had previously discussed? He could have said he heard about the divorce and he remembered their conversation, and wanted to see if she was now ready to move forward.

  36. Lisa says:

Dear God, let there be a shred of decency in the one who ultimately held this dear child’s life in his/her hands and let him be safely tucked away somewhere waiting to come home.

  38. loco says:

Just something that popped in my head. Did Kyron have a life insurance policy? Some people take out life insurance on their children. I’m just searching for a motive because I can’t think of one. If Terri wanted her husband outed I would think it was for money or custody issues. The only one that *could* apply to the child is money. Unless she somehow was going to make it look like her husband did this and something went wrong. However, if her husband was arrested for it that would have taken care of custody issues and left her with all the marital property. So I’m guessing it was either that or for life insurance on Kyron. Has anyone heard if he had a policy?
It’s sad how lost some people can become. I wonder how we can help people like this before it gets to a point like this. I hope that they find him alive somehow, hidden somewhere with someone.
What a cutie pie he is. I imagine what wonderful things he can give our world as he grows up-I hope he has a chance to do so.

  42. SJC says:

Cat, I agree regarding Terri being played by LE.

    Now, how about this:
~LS states he “…was supposed to get something.”
    ~$10,000 down payment, no-refundable.
~Up front with LE, hence the sting?
~Balance payable upon life insurance pay out?
    OR
~$10,000 in full to kidnap Kyron from school (“Hi, Kyron, I’m the guy that’s been working in your mom’s yard (as you know), she was just in an auto accident on the way home and I’ve been asked to come get you.”)
    ~Takes Kyron to Sauvie Island
~Terri knows what happened from there: “We implore Terri Horman to cooperate…”

  43. mommystop says:

My take on the Landscaper thing is a bit different from most here. Consider this… SM poly comes back deceptive in some areas. LE gets her to admit the truth to them about an affair and now think the possibility is that the LS was a relationship went wrong and he took Kyron to punish Terri.

Knowing this is what he wants LE starts to make Terri look like the POI (Telling Terri what is going on all along thus the weird not worried behavior). LE were searching for white truck sightings the day Kyron disappeared. They put out pictures of a terrible looking Terri (Not anything like the way she looked Kyron was taken) to say see what she’s been reduced to. When the LS is brought in for questioning he concocts the story about Terri hiring him for a hit. In an attempt to keep him talking and possibly find out info on where Kyron is they set up a fake confrontation with Terri and tell her about it in advance. Terri agrees to play along until he arrives and truly is menacing at which point she becomes nervous that this is directed at her and not the LS calls 911 and quickly lawyers up the next day.

It would explain more of her weird thumbs up behavior to reporters as well as her bewilderment that the implication coming from Kaine and Desiree was that she was not cooperating (Thus the damage control by LE). Remember that everyone here at some point questioned i this was done in some way to punish Terri.

You have a misssing child and a purported hit for hire. If you are LE what is your focus going to be??Kaine was in no danger from the hit and would you really go to these extremes to trap a wife into saying something incriminating about a hit knowing that her arrest would mean the end of an investigation into Kyron’s whereabouts? My opionion is that even if the LS DID tell police she hired him for a hit there is no credible evidence of it at this point (Perhaps becuase it’s not true????)

Still finding it hard to believe Terri is in anyway willingly connected to Kyron’s disappearance. Gut feeling is saying we see LS arrested for Kyron shortly with no Terri involvement.

Though Terri probably didn’t “participate” in Kyron’s demise, she plotted and conspired to make it happen. Evil. Just plain evil. Blink, would you now say she is on the same level as Scotty Baker’s step-mom?

No. But I am open to the possibility. I still maintain she herself did not physically harm Kyron.
Was she responsible in some fashion regardless, I am gonna say yep.

Could the hitman have been holding Kyron for ransom or until payment is received? Sorry if this has been discussed..I can’t keep up.

I am just stunned at the evil unfolding in this story. Stunned. The only reason for Terri’s silence now is to re-craft her story. I believe in her mentally ill mind, she thinks there is still a way out of this. Her attorney has an enormous task in front of him. And there is a very good reason not to let your client talk to the media–(a) because you can’t trust her to follow your advice or (b) because you know the truth and can’t quite think of a good way to avoid it.
I do not think Terri will tell her attorney the truth. She is making it up as she goes along now. She is like Casey Anthony with a moderate amount of intelligence. But she thinks she is far smarter than she is.

    Anybody seen this yet?

“A day after word breaks that the stepmother of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman tried to hire a landscaper to kill her husband Kaine, another landscaper tells KXL that he followed up on a third-party lead. Identifying himself as Zach of All-American Cleaning and Landscape, he says he called and emailed Terri Horman several times with no response in late April and early May when she was looking for “yard clean-up on a medium-sized yard”. He feels that he just didn’t fit what she was looking for.” Zach called into the Lars Larson show.

    Blink or anyone who knows,
Did Terri take Kyron to school in her Mustang or the white truck?

All the info in the flyers and questioneer about the white truck wasn’t about Terri’s white truck, but the abductor’s vehicle??

    Truck.

LE contacted this landscaper 2 weeks ago and questioned him about TH. He is not the second landscaper in question, btw, and TH never contacted him back.

Just found it interesting that this line of questioning has been going on for 2 weeks!

So, what’s the proof that TH actually owes LS the $10K he’s demanding? Is there a record of a prior payment? (I don’t doubt that she does owe him “something,” that she “led him on”… just don’t see how that can be proven…)
