Portland, OR-  The tangled web that is the life of Terri Horman continues to weave.

terri-horman

In an Exclusive development to blinkoncrime.com, a Portland local, declining to be identified, provides the bombshell revelation that Terri Horman was behind the 5:16PM call to 911 last June 26th.

The object of her “threat based” call to 911 requiring officers response?

The Landscaper, in his white truck, on her property, demanding his payment for $10,000.

The same Portland source confirmed that an undercover detective, playing the role of an associate of the landscaper turned alleged assassin, was present. It was also confirmed a bulk of the incident was overheard on the police scanner.  The Truck registration and plate were called in on an open channel as well.

What they did not count on, during the surreptitious meeting, was that Terri Horman would shut down the brief meeting and call Police; thwarting what they were hopeful would end in an arrest.

Kaine Horman had been advised to remove the couples 18 month old daughter in advance, for their safety, earlier in the day.

Upon deputies arrival, as informed by Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office about the sting, detectives were forced to tell Terri Horman she was a suspect.  Horman hired Stephen Houze, prominent Portland defense attorney by Monday June 28th.

The identity of the landscaper has been withheld as this is an ongoing investigation, but blinkoncrime.com has learned that it is contained in the sealed portion of the restraining order obtained by Kaine Horman.

    Blink,

Do you think someone did something to Kyron with TH knowledge or without TH knowledge????????

  2. Twinkletoes says:

What are the odds that a hitman thought the hit was on Kyron instead of Kaine? (Both not super common names) It could have happened if the hitman was a friend of the landscaper and the landscaper gave unclear information. I can’t imagine the double major landscaper/hit man program attracts the best and the brightest of individuals.
Perhaps dear Ky was an unintended victim. Just a thought.

Do we KNOW there was a May 9 9-1-1 call from the Horman house? Seems like reading back here I now see that “info” came from a forum where it was posted, possibly by TH or her friend.

    Anyone know?

  5. ChefDulce says:

    My theory is
LS and agent tried to get her on tape with the hit. SM inmediately suspected fish smell. The LS was asking for due landscaping fees not for a contract to hire. the plot was very lame and now the police blew its chances of her talking since after that she lawyered up.

  6. dee says:

I do not believe that SM hid this child out of protection for him, if so, she would have hid lil baby girl too, wouldn’t she as well be in danger from What Ev? we all know where she is in the arms of papa, this is a nightmare in the worst degree, why is this baby boy missing???? I believe her motives are worse than we want to imagine and that makes me sick….I pray I am wrong, but I don’t think I am too much time has gone by, if he was hidden, by now, he would have appeared….considering the the possible arrest of SM she would have set him free and he is not yet…

  7. Gypsy DD says:

    I agree Blink.

I don’t think TM has any idea where Kyron is..nor do I think she wanted any part of that end of this.

I think she simply wanted to pay someone to do the deed..paid LS guy to find a guy to do this and knows nothing since June 4th when she handed him over to LS or someone else.

This of course makes me believe he is no longer with us..another little angel in Heaven gone way to soon.

  8. Brenda says:

Perhaps she (TH) hadn’t changed her mind about doing away with KH but had found someone else who would perform the “hit” and that is why she backed out of the deal with the LS. Perhaps this is why there are two names (which I won’t mention of course) which keep coming up? The other person (who had not taken Kyron) would have a vested interest in making sure that TH was not implicated in Kyrons disappearence hence a statement which was made on June 4th. The idea of a May 911 call came from (I think) posts made my someone close to the family and also other posts were very insistent that the LS was NOT TH’s lover. If the LS is who I think it is then this would make sense. This could also explain there could be multiple (I think three) arrests?

  9. Malty says:

Well these LS are sure a different type than we
    have over in our area
ours are buzy and have many sites going

maybe Terri knew these guys from the gym
    or some place
I still wonder if the words. Hit the gym
    mean some thing else

  10. GriffyMom says:

I hear “motive” mentioned repeatedly. Everyone wants to speculate about what Terri’s motivation could have been to hurt Kyron (or to take out a “hit” on her husband). These actions are so far outside the realm of normal that we may have to accept she simply didn’t want Kyron around anymore but sending him to his biological mother would have made her look bad. I recall that was Susan Smith’s reason for not returning custody of her precious sons to her ex-husband; she didn’t want to look like a bad mother.

Blink – I have stated before that I felt like the whole situation surrounding Kyron’s disappearance was too much of a ko inky dink that he just happened to be at the right spot at the right time on the day his teacher “may have been told” he had to go to an appointment. Do you believe Terri took him from the school and handed him over to someone or do you believe she “delivered” him by making sure he was in the spot where he needed to be for the perp to grab him? There has got to be someone who saw something but maybe they don’t realize what they saw or maybe more people are involved then we actually know. My heart just breaks as I am typing this- how scared little Kyron must have been. I pray for Kyron that God gives him courage and comfort while in the hands of evil. I know the odds, but I think I owe this precious little boy that much. Blink- If only these people had half of your heart. As much as I love reading your work- I look forward to the day when you have nothing to write about.

Can I tell you how much I would love that?

  13. Brenda says:

Actually Gipsy DD you could be onto something, another scenario might perhaps be that TH asked LS to find someone to kill KH, which LS did, then TH backed out which resulted in her being threatened by LS (May 911). This leaves either the LS or the guy he found to carry out the hit both pretty desperate (perhaps both these men had terrible money worries and ALSO connections to the family and school and to Kyron) So it could have been either of them? Perhaps TH doesn’t know which one but cannot say anything to impicate them without becoming the focus of an investigation in her trying to get her husband killed. Perhaps the leak about this was to show her that LE are on to her and she no longer has anything to lose and should co coperate in the search for Kyron.

  15. Tamtex says:

Hey gang, I read here a lot, never posted before. This case has really been weighing on my mind. My thoughts right now are this: If Terri tried to hire someone to kill Kaine, that means she absolutely loathes the man and wants to hurt him in the worst way. And if the murder plot was not working or panning out fast enough for her, she could totally have done something to Kyron, knowing that it would hurt Kaine so badly. She would never harm the girl — that’s HER baby. But Kyron? He’s Kaine’s ultimately.

In all the surmising and conjecture, I keep going back to “What is the simple solution?” to this mystery. Terri was the last person to see Kyron before he went missing. All paths lead to her.

One thing that will be interesting is what was recorded on tape when the landscaper and under cover agent went to ask Terry for the 10K, versus what she told 9-1-1- dispatchers. The answer to this question might give us a few more clues

    Blink,
If LE can get a Grand Jury indictment on Terri and/or landscaper dude, can LE in turn use that to offer ‘a deal’ to reduce charges on that, in return for the recovery of Kyron? Then bring charges for kidnapping, etc?

In order to proffer, they would have to disclose all possible criminal charges they could face. Cannot bait and switch.
Secondly, Houze would tear that up. He knows what he is doing

  22. Twinkletoes says:

I have been really reluctant to accept that Terri could harm Kyron, but I am starting to see Terri as a complete psychopath who is only interested in her own gain. I don’t see her as even capable of selflessly loving her own child, much less Kyron. It was just a matter of how they made her feel, how she appeared to others (doting step mother, proud mom, teacher), and what was to her own advantage. I don’t think she would have thought twice about killing her own child or children. And I’d bet her son, James, is aware of her true self to a greater degree than anyone else. She probably said and did quite a bit with him present. Poor kid. She clearly has needed a lot of attention throughout her life. She craves it and feeds off it, hence her inability to resist sleeping with anyone who show her interest. In a way, she is likely a little bit excited about being at the center of this insane story. And she holds the spotlight as long as she keeps her secrets.

  25. Lisa says:

    Tamtex,

You are right. You have to apply Occam’s Razor to this situation. I don’t know why some people are taking each new revelation about Terri and thinking of her as a victim of an abusive husband or that she has a stalker. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? It is becoming more and more obvious that she more than likely orchestrated Kyron’s disappearance and demise.

  26. Twinkletoes says:

Terri Horman takes out a classified ad:
Wanted: hitman/landscaper to kill husband and trim topiaries to giraffe-like shapes. $10k down. Clippers and tractor available on the premises. Must have own firearms. Non-smoker preferred.

(Sorry, I needed a tension buster in this case. Come home, baby Kyron. We love you.)

  27. If he is still alive, possibly she sold him. Obviously, she does not reject stepping out of the box to solicit the dark underworld of murder for hire and possibly child trade.

  28. Jackie Bauer :) says:

Wow. TWO murder-for-hire L/S guys? Hopefully TH hasn’t heard the expression “three times, the charm”. What’s to say there isn’t another one out there?

Anyway, surprised to see there are still mental machinations trying to explain away THs behavior, or put it on Kaine via abuse. i just can’t help but think she is a sociopath who can really fake it till she makes it. If she were that scared and frightened, surely she could’ve talked to authorities or friends and family Or she could’ve just kicked Kaine’s ass. Those body building pictures–this was a woman who could hold her own even if she is out of shape and overweight now.

I think that there are certainly implausible theories on how this all happened to poor TH, but I think that the most plausible explanation is that she just wanted Kaine and Kyron dead. You sure can’t say she wasn’t trying hard enough to get Kaine killed.

@Tamtex: with you on all that.

  29. cc says:

Why is Cook at the Horman house? He is friends with Kaine I thought and went to high school with Kaine..

Cook, who has been at the Horman house Tuesday and Wednesday, urged the public not to prejudge anyone. “I’m not jumping to any conclusions or passing any sort of judgment,” he said. “I don’t know what happened to Kyron and I won’t presume that someone is responsible because of how things might appear.”

About 4 p.m. Wednesday, Cook drove up in a blue pickup truck laden with supplies for Terri Horman and her family and friends.

He parked among the 10 or so news vehicles hugging the shoulder on Sheltered Nook Road, dropped off a cooler filled with beverages — an olive branch to the cameramen and reporters — then drove up to the home and dropped off 12-packs of Coca-Cola and 7-Up, bottles of Arrowhead water, Hefty kitchen garbage bags, Quaker Chewy granola bars and catfood.

  31. Gypsy DD says:

    Dee,

I think she knows she left him with someone and that someone was taking care of the details. When these things happen, if she did not kill him herself, then she may not know where he is or how he was murdered.

Usually..I would think that info isn’t shared..it just a contract and they take care of it their way. Terri doesn’t strike me as having the gonads to handle a dead child’s body..so she pays someone to do it for her. She is the evil coward….

She needs to tell the truth about where and with whom she left him..and she isn’t because she doesn’t want to be killed herself.

There is a reason why that RO says no contact..they do not want Kaine or the other children around if these people decide to murder Terri to keep her mouth shut.

The RO and divorce could be based on the LS’s accusations backed up with money that was transferred from TH’s account, as it has been pointed out here that there would need to be more than just an accusation from the LS. Also the LS being both a friend of the family (perhaps he also had relatives at the school) and familiar both with and on the school grounds as he was part of a school project he could have easily lured Kyron to his vehicle.
    *****
Thats a good possibility I guess. Maybe that plays along with the questionare that LE put out, and certain known folks just happen not to return their’s as they were expected to do.

  33. Andy says:

Maybe the Hormans owe, but didn’t pay for the $10,000 for their new John Deer tractor with a brush hog? Maybe the repo man for the tractor came to the Hormans and fell in love with the landscaper? You guys are killing me (figuratively).

  34. TunedIn says:

May 9th Mother’s day… police called regarding an attack on Terri by said LS. LS allegedly fired from Job at Hormans’… Now another LS comes out to say he was hired JUST to do scaping–perhaps, to finish the uncompleted job? Police had to know about 5/9 attack, which probably accounts for the “isolated incident”. As well, Kaine had to know about the hiring of landscaper AND the 5/9 911 call. Unless, he was with Phyllis that day,no?

alright already, what’s your agenda? May 9 was not Mother’s Day this year, btw.

  35. NancyS says:

so maybe the day that Kyron came up missing was the day that Kaine was suppose to die also?

Maybe in the truck? maybe they were both suppose to die the same day? something went wrong? like maybe Kaine was suppose to be home while Teri took Kyron to school? and MAYBE Teri did not know that Kaine would come home later? who knows? the cops are acting VERY strangely in this case.

  36. Annals says:

    From the article at katu.com:

Meanwhile, a landscaper recently hired by the Hormans said he was contacted by detectives and cooperated with the investigation. He said he just did landscaping for the family.

Police have confirmed a report that Terri Horman tried to pay another as yet unnamed landscaper to kill her husband, Kaine Horman, in 2009. That landscaper reportedly contacted police after the alleged murder for hire offer.
    http://www.katu.com/news/local/97845894.html
    —————————————-
Can we assume that LE knew very early in the missing child case that a 2009 reported attempt to “hire for the murder of a family member” connected to Terri?

    ——————-

Am I the only one reading this as the ‘yet unnamed’ landscaper being the one in the sting this weekend? It was originally reported that she started this MFH thing 6-7 months before the 4th of June … which would make it November/December 2009.

So I am only seeing 2 LS involved.

    Am I missing something?

  38. LPB says:

    My theory:

TH gets a “lead” from LSlover. She backs out, but she promised some money. So the “lead” takes iniative for being led on. TH figures this out via note/glasses/something. Hopes this isn’t true, holds out hope, goes to bus stop. Is not forthcoming with LE that night or the following days. Wants all this to go away, can’t believe what she has gotten herself into. “she is involed, but doesn’t know it,”

    IMHO

  39. just curious says:

Everyone focuses on TH. I’ve been a step-mom in two marriages and believe me you are persona non grata. “it’s not your kid” etc. Anything goes wrong it’s always the s-m’s fault. I haven’t heard anyone ask about Kaine. Think about it – here’s a man whose pregnant!!! wife filed for divorce. That is highly unusual and there’s usually a really GOOD reason. Then the same man remarries and allegedly that wife wants him killed? Now tell me something isn’t wrong here. The bio mom also apparently kept another child but why did she give up Kyron?? There is so much more to this story. I hope and pray that TH sent him somewhere safe. And she may have not thought the baby girl was in danger – yet.

  42. AmySJD says:

I have read every detail of this case and my heart absolutely breaks for Kyron. Unfortunately, IMHO, the most obvious answer is usually the right one. We had a case in our area in which a father brutally murdered his two young children for the simple reason that he wanted to hurt their mother as much as possible. If this woman hated KH enough to kill him, there’s nothing she’s incapable of. What we know about her tells me that she thinks she’s smarter than everyone, especially LE, and dropped the LS idea when she realized she could do something, alone, that would destroy KH. She’s diabolical but, horrifically, this type of crime is not unheard of.

  43. JEN says:

@sandrasallon, OMG. Do you think selling Kyron could have been Terri’s means of paying off a hitman to take out Kaine? And given the former Soviet Union’s notorious human trafficking record, do you think this may be why ten of the thirty donated Find Kyron billboards were in Russian?

    My stomach is turning.

Please forgive me, I am new to this site and probably have missed the answers to the questions I am about to ask.
    1. Is it possible the Landscaper is responsible for Kyron’s abduction without Terri Horman’s knowledge or involvement?
    2. Maybe initially, he was contacted by LE as part of routine procedure because his phone# showed up on TMH’s cell phone records but, he acted suspicious, freaked out, implicated TMH because he knew the investigation was basically not looking good for her.
    3. Why would he and undercover LE believe they could claim to TMH she owed $10,000 for NOT killing Kaine Horman? (incredibly botched).
    4. If what the Landscaper claimed was true, why would TMH call 911? the police would be the last party she would call for help because she knew she was already a POI with the police. Calling 911 makes sense if she knew nothing about his false story to the police.
    5. I know this isn’t popular, but what about Kaine Horman? Does he know the Landscaper? I find that obtaining a RO to be reasonable based on what the police told him but, the divorce papers?? He had to have been working on this prior to Kyron’s disappearance. I picture myself in the same scenario (alleged scenario) and yes, I would immediately get a restraining order to protect my children if the police informed me I needed to do so based on the reasons for the forthcoming sting operation. But, in the same circumstances (my CHILD is missing, learning that my husband was trying to have me killed!?!) I would have been reeling and emotionally not equipped to go out and get divorce proceedings. My focus would have been on the safety of my children and the continued search for my missing child. I would not have any reserve left for a self-oriented decision such as filing divorce papers (that can come after I find my child)!!
    6. It just seems that if they had anything, including any kind of possible motive to kill or harm Kyron or Kaine, anything real, (not planted/fed to the media) the police would have her behind bars for questioning.
    7. I am not defending Terri and would not be surprised at her guilt and involvement in Kyron’s disappearance. The only reason I bring this up is because I fear they may not be focusing enough time and energy (based on the wasted time with Landscaper Wackadoo sting operation). Why don’t they just arrest the landscaper guy who allegedly was claiming he was owed money for an assassination plot? Why don’t they indict the Oregonian and ask for their sources of information? Why don’t they put pressure on all parties who claim they have sources and threaten them with obstruction of justice?
    8. Sorry, I want the kid found.
    9. I seems like neighbors and schoolmates/parents would be speaking up a lot more about the family and their dealings with them. LE can’t silence them.
