Kyron Horman Missing and Endangered: Grand Jury Meets, Indictment Imminent

Portland, OR- In the case of missing 7-year-old Portland child Kyron Horman, developments today continue to unfold at lightening speed.

During a poorly-kept secret convening of a special grand jury that is in session today, sources inside the investigation believe it’s triers of fact will return an indictment against Terri Horman and possibly one other individual.

It is however, unclear as to whether or not the grand jury is hearing evidence in the alleged murder for hire plot MCSO informed Kaine Horman his wife had master-minded, OR evidence surrounding the disappearance of Kaine and Desiree Young’s son Kyron.

KOIN caught Terri Horman’s friend DeDe Spicher, who was subpoenaed to appear in the proceedings this morning, on video with her attorney, entering the courthouse. Spicher was the subject of a public plea asking her to cooperate with investigators by Kaine Horman and Desiree Young last week.  A neighbor of Spicher’s has confirmed the FBI has been seen removing boxes and unknown bagged material from her residence.

According to several sources, DeDe Spicher, Terri’s roommate  post Kaine’s restraining order,  was working in a garden near the Horman home the day of Kyron’s disappearance when she received a call at approximately 11:15 am. She left abruptly, returning at approximately 1:00 pm. DeDe was unreachable on her cell phone during that time and the property owner became concerned. Spicher is a long time friend and workout companion of Horman’s.

Earlier today, Laura Rackner, Kaine Horman’s Family Law attorney filed a motion to find out where the funds are coming from to foot the bill for Terri Horman’s high profile criminal defense attorney, Stephen Houze.

In Horman’s motion, he is seeking the disclosure of the payments made to Houze, and whether or not it came from marital funds. If it has, Kaine Horman wants half the cash to pay his own legal bills. Kaine Horman alleges that Terri Horman disclosed to a third party that she paid a whopping $350,000 retainer to Houze, however, provided no proof of same in the papers filed today.

In what appears to be a media timing coup, tonight’s episode of Dateline NBC will feature Kaine Horman, Desiree and Tony Young, with interviews and coverage of Kyron’s disappearance.

Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, Mary Lindstrand, has announced a press conference tomorrow at the MCSO Training Facility, beginning at 2:00 pm PST.

I have no idea what it means, if anything, in this equation, but I would also seek to understand a psych opinion about an “exercise fanatic” as Dede sees herself, that appears to be overweight continually.
    B
Maybe in her running days when she was thin, she felt like a “fitness fanatic” or maybe she was being facetious. Even without the exercise part, in the few pictures I have seen of her, she doesn’t look like a person who is doing gardening and landscaping for a living. I am the last person, however, to judge the reasons for someone’s weight or exercise habits. She could possibly have a health issue such as diabetes or thyroid imbalance (treated or untreated) affecting her health.

I’m not sure her weight matters unless it speaks to her self image and how easily Terri could have taken advantage of that (low self esteem) to befriend and use her in some way. Perhaps they met at the gym and pushed each other to work harder, or perhaps they met at an AA meeting and were supporting each other in ways we haven’t even thought of yet. I am NOT suggesting DeDe is an alcoholic – just that there are still so many unknowns.

Just because the folks on this farm could not locate DeDe does not mean she left the property. It’s a 40-acre farm. Her CAR never left its parking place all day, and her cell phone never left the farm either — if the farm’s owner texted her during this period, the police should be able to pinpoint the phone’s location. I love how the media vultures carefully leave out any information that decreases the sensational nature of the story. DeDe is not involved in this sordid situation, and it is a damn shame that the police are wasting time like this when there is still a missing child needing to be found.

Previously, I made a note to self re other posts that “eskeptic” sounded like Terri or a Terri close friend. This is a recent post. How would anyone know her car never left the parking place and her cell phone never left either? I have not read that anyone said this, have you? It seems it would have put a different slant on what the farm owner and co-worker said.

IF this person really does know this –
Does this mean Terri drove by and picked her up (out of sight) rather than meeting somewhere? Does this person think even if the police found out her cell was on the farm (in the car, perhaps) when receiving the farm owner’s text, it means SHE was still there for sure? Maybe she accidentally dropped her phone and left it behind when Terri picked her up and it was too late to go back and get it – or she didn’t want anyone to figure out from her phone where she really was when she did leave? If it weren’t for tracking the location of cell phones, the logical thing to do would be to take it, answer, and make an excuse why you had to run home or to the store, etc. If planned ahead, then let the owner know ahead – unless you didn’t know the timeline well enough or weren’t sure you would really need to leave. If their comment about expecting DeDe to come in for lunch is true, then no excuse she makes covers it unless she is simply rude – but to an employer?

DeDe’s boyfriend of 10 months was interviewed on TV and said she ALWAYS answered her phone. Since cell phones show the incoming number, I suspect that is true for most “cell people” and a decision not to answer would be made depending on who it is or whether you are being called while driving (in Oregon). Even so, it only takes a short time to pullover and reply if you want to.

Sorry in advance for not just scrolling and rolling, but in all honesty, I cannot read a hint of malice or disrespect in Karen’s July 31, 3:31pm comment.

When I read the last sentence of NancyS’s post, July 31, 1:19; “Also a person that is trying to bulk up has to gain weight in order to build muscle.” I thought, that’s so wrong. It is only now, after reading the 3 posts a couple of times, do I see that NanctS’s post is personalized to Blink, thus maybe it’s shorthand and Blink knows NancyS’s area of expertise?

In my opinion NancyS’s post of July 31, 6:29pm to Karen is awfully rough. The way Blink’s reply reads to me does nothing to soften it.

    Madam B,

Level with us, as a mom, wouldn’t you use radar from a kayak to find your lost child?
    **********************
But to your general question, I would do anything to find my child, including taking the advice of LE.

I will say that it is not an unusual phenomona that parents of a missing child which they feel to be alive, or are desperate to believe same, resist alternative search strategies.
    B
    *******************
This confuses me. As I would do the same as you would, Blink; I would use a ouija board, I would use a whatchamacallit, I would stand naked at Main street. Why are parents of any missing child likely to resist alternative search strategies?

I just had a very lengthy discussion with my 15 year old stepdaughter on the importance of safety. This discussion was prompted by an innocent Google search and the realization that I hadn’t cleared my Google search history. I’ve been able to fool her Father when he asks, “Are you still in there looking up my Christmas presents?” But I know I can’t fool her. In no time, she’ll be sleuthing her way through my stuff and ratting me out. And this is what she would find if I don’t clear my history!!!

Men who are into kinky female bodybuilders
    Hump
    Clitoromegaly
    Thekinkymeter.com
    Boogieboards
    Stepmothers who kill
    Stepmothers who eat too much
Stepmothers who kill and eat their children
    Bodybuilders and canabalism
    Aibohphobia
    Palindromes
    Cadaver dogs and nitrates

So, just a reminder, if you have other people (especially snoopy teenagers) using your computer, make sure you clear your search history. Especially after researching THIS case.

Hey Blink, I’ve tried unsuccessfully to post this comment, I’m thinking its length is causing a problem. I’ll divide it into two parts and see if that works! Thanks for allowing me to ramble.

Kaine said in the press conference that electronic media is Terri’s preferred method of communication. I have no doubt that she has continued communicating since Kyron’s disappearance…and her sexting shows a disregard for the lack of privacy in such method.

This disregard and brazenness while under police scrutiny leads me to believe that Terri may be, and probably is, contributing to blogs.

One such blog poster that has raised curiosity is Insintel who has posted 86 comments about the Kyron case on Oregonlive.com. Some people think this is Terri or a friend of Terri.

I didn’t give serious thought to this theory until I started paying attention to the dates that Insintel has posted and when he/she has remained quiet. It might be worth reviewing Insintel’s posts.

This morning, after an almost perfect 16-day hiatus from posting, Insintel bleeped in with a sharp remark: “I’ve been silent since 7/22… or so I’ve been told. Blah.. Silence broken biatch…” This sounds like it was meant for Desiree.

The July 22 comment that she refers to is the strange and stand-alone remark: “Deedle – Keep your mouth shuuuuuuuuuut! Hold out just a little while longer.” We know that July 22 is just after LE put a significant amount of focus on Dede Spicher and two other friends.

(continued below in a following comment….)

  20. mosaic says:

    (continued from above……)

The day Insintel turned off her steady flow of comments was Thursday, July 15th. On that day Insintel posted a flurry of comments and then essentially disappeared from the blog.

What I find noteworthy is Friday, July 16, the day Insintel became silent, was the day Terri’s lawyer announced that she would agree to move out, which she did immediately. Houze’s employee’s were sent to remove her belongings from the home.

If Insintel is indeed Terri, she may have stopped posting regularly because she was no longer in the supposed privacy of her own home. Under the watchful eye of her parents, Terri might not feel the same brazenness.

There’s always the possibility that Insintel is a highly imaginative and completely unrelated person who likes creating false mystery around herself. But I doubt that such a personality would stay quiet for so long while things were really getting cooking.

  23. CentralORMom says:

Re: Harry Oakes. During 2002 we lived in Oregon City, OR. Around March of 2002, 12 year old Ashley Pond was on her way to the bus stop – she never made it. Just a few months later another 12 year old, Miranda Gaddis, was on her way to the same bus stop and never made it. Both girls lived in the same apartment complex and attended the same school. My son also went to this school.

Media arrived in droves and interviewed anyone who would talk to them. One person interviewed numerous times was Ward Weaver. He happened to live at the end of the drive which the girls had to walk to reach the bus stop.

Because of his odd interviews and the rumors that came home from school about him, he became our top suspect and soon LE’s top suspect. This is about the time that Harry Oakes came into the picture. He was invited to take a look around the property only – not inside – just on the outside of the house. Ward had actually made some type of comment to Harry to keep his dog off the new cement pad (I may not have Ward’s wording completely right here – it has been a few years).

Ward was arrested – but not because of the girls, he was arrested for attempting to rape and strangle his son’s girlfriend. She actually ran out of Ward’s house naked onto a very busy street. A driver stopped and picked her up and took her to the local PD. Ward took off from the house and we heard about it – he was caught later that same day if I remember right and then put in jail.

The FBI and local Sheriff’s office searched the property with dogs. (I think they may have searched the outside well before Ward was arrested too). Harry was brought in after the searches by the dogs. (I can’t recall who asked him to search). I do remember that some of the other searchers were not too happy about this and felt he was stepping on their toes. From what I remember Harry and his dog(s) took a look around and “hit” on something early March 2002.

Harry told the FBI that in fact his dog “hit” on a dead body under the cement pad in Ward Weaver’s backyard. Several months went by and the cement pad was not touched. Locals started getting very upset and more vocal.

Finally after five more months went by, the slab of cement was dug up and Ashley was found in a steel container. Miranda was found in the shed outside but she had first been killed and kept in his freezer.

I am not trying to say that Harry is going to find Kyron. (Harry has found many people who are alive and lost as well). I think if it were me and knowing the little bit I do know about Harry, I would give him a try.

    Hi Blink and friends,

I have been following this story closely and reading the comments here on Blink as well as other sites. What has caught my attention with this case is the the fact that people who may be involved seem to be posting about it online. I find that to be very odd.

A few years ago a young girl in our neck of the woods went missing. 9 year old Cedrika Provencher was snatched off the streets by a stranger and no trace of her was ever found. My husband is an avid ATVer and is a member of ATVer online forums. A member of one of the forums began posting about a fairly specific place that LE failed to search. He posted that LE stopped short of searching the correct area.

Needless to say my husband found the posts very disturbing as did other members of the forum. My husband reported it to LE, however we have no idea if it was ever followed up on. The original poster disappeared from the ATV forum.

At the time we found it too bizarre to be believeable, a criminal posting about their crime online. However this Kyron Horman case has caused me to rethink the situation. I am once again pondering those creepy ATV forum posts. I wonder if the posts could be legit or were merely the work of some nut looking for attention.

I have a thought about the Horman case. Early on several of the more strident online Terri defenders were quite vocal about the fact that the bio parents did not get out and look for Kyron themselves. I have been wondering if Kaine was not expected to look for Kyron himself, if that may have been part of the plan from day one. Kaine was to be lured to an unfamiliar area to become a victim of an “accident” or murder.

This may explain why the bio parents, the general public and Harry Oakes have been discouraged from going out to beat the bushes.

In this day and age is it a common occurance for criminals to go online and blab about their involvement? That does not make any sense to me whatsoever but then again neither does kidnapping or murdering small defenseless children.

I would like to know what Kaine did that prompted Terri to attempt to have him murdered, if that story is true. Or if he did anything in particular or if her contempt was the result of years of seething.

I remember an early interview with Desiree and Kaine where he seemed rather defensive and put out that the reporter asked him about Terri being cooperative. In that interview, he said she was cooperating fully. He did buy Terri a shiny red car for her birthday. He continued to wear his wedding ring after he learned of the alleged murder for hire plot. He stated that the marriage seemed fine, that they had worked out some earlier problems. He has also stated that she borrowed the truck frequently and did whatever she did during the day, that he really had no clue what that was. He said he thought DeDe was a nice lady.

Has Kaine been blindly in love or just blind? Had Kyron been abused by Terri for years? Was Kaine abused emotionally? I don’t sense the rage in Kaine I would expect. His plea to anyone with any information was replete with feeling, but he appears to be more hurt and shocked than angry. On the other hand, Desiree is clearly angry.

I’m not picking on Kaine, I am just trying to figure out the psyche of the relationship. There has been a great deal of speculation about what he did to Terri, but I haven’t heard any facts about their marital problems.

Here’s what I have been thinking about- If Terri first conspired to have her husband killed, what was she planning on doing with the children?

What I mean is, if her plan would have been successful, and she had gotten away with it.. Did she want to go on raising the children… Kyron too?
Or did she bank on the fact that Desiree would take Kyron back, was that part of the plan? Or did she hope to keep all the children together. Did Kaine make a will or was there a plan in the event of his death that Terri would raise both of his children and Desiree would still only have partial custody.

I realize that the LS is not to be trusted, but I would like to know what he said regarding Terri’s plans.. Did she tell him to make sure none of the children were home did she tell him she was worried about how the children would take their fathers death?

I agree that Terri is not helping her case at all- but is she innocent of any wrong doing when it comes to Kyron’s disappearance, and is she only reacting in this way and failing polygraphs because of her criminal activity in regards to her husband only?

Is she as guilty as she seems- is she as unfeeling as she seems or is there a whole lot more to this story and marriage family makeup that we are unaware of…?

I would just hate to think that everyone is focusing in on the wrong person and Kyron’s abductor has nothing to do with Terri…

Just thinking aloud but would like to hear others take.. TIA

@Julie I remember about your friend
both from my job and the area where I
    live
    sorry for the loss
    very sad

    @centerormom
that Ward Weaver case was to close to home
if I remember right his exwife was going go dig up that concrete
    herself if something didn’t happen
    people sure were upset
I don’t remember Harry O but something had to be done
people were going go in there if it didn’t
I guess we will never forget little Ashley and Miranda

and I hope if someone is holding Kyron they come forward
has he been in medical care due to a accident
    I thought maybe

No offense taken, foobros– I am an expert in neither eating disorders NOR spelling….although I DO make it a point to be able to spell the few things in which I claim to have expertise. ;-)

I may quietly retreat into lurkdom at this point, but I will forever appreciate your apparent grasp of my thinly-veiled facetiousness. Touche, my clever friend!

    My dear friends of BOC-

I value all contributions, please back off the personal snark attacks.

If you must release your inner snark, do what I do 90% of the time- I roll play with an uninvolved party, crack up at how witty I am, make up new variations of curse words, and then realize it does nothing to find a 7 year old missing child, and get back to work.

I have never had an eating disorder, I do on occasion suffer from disorderly eating however.

    Back to Kyron.
    B

I don’t know, Phyl…I have a 15 year old son, and I’m WAY more afraid of seeing HIS google searches than I am of him seeing MINE. :-\

    Word Girl, reading my post after it was up, I realizes that the Oregonlive reporter is probably refering to a newspaper reporter rather than a Kptv reporter. Anyhow, I still feel that if there were ANY snippet of video of Terri speaking, we’d be seeing it over and over in all kinds of reports. I’ll put it up again;

    Fron Oregonlive.com, June 25;
Approached earlier in the day at her home in Northwest Portland, she had denied a report by KPTV 12/Fox TV news that her husband, Kaine Horman, and 18-month-old daughter, Kiara, had moved out.

“Everything’s good,” she said, giving a thumbs up. “We heard that rumor. It’s just a rumor that needs to be squelched. Everything’s fine.”

    Thanks, CCmakes3 and foobros.
———————————————————————-Thanks 37AC, for your mention of police activity in the area. Even though it’s unrelated to the Kyron case, it’s good to know we have some nearby who’ll give a heads up. Gunman shooting at police cars! Whoa.

  49. Annals says:

OOPs, not shooting at police cars; shooting at cars and hitting a police car.

@ CCmakes- Bolemia is a misspelling of Bulemia. Pretty funny after poor Karen got slammed like she did.
