Caylee/Casey Anthony Case Breaking News: Rumors That Roy Black Joins Forces With Jose Baez False

Posted by BOC Staff | Blink,Casey Anthony,Caylee Anthony Case,Cheney Mason,John Morgan,Jose Baez,Murdered,Roy Black | Tuesday 14 September 2010 8:24 am

What was expected to be announced at the 9am scheduled press conference this morning, that Roy Black, of William Kennedy Smith and Rush Limbaugh acquittal-fame, had signed on to join the defense team representing Casey Anthony in the charges against her for allegedly murdering her 34 month old daughter Caylee Marie Anthony was apparently a false rumor. Sources inside the case have confirmed to blinkoncrime.com that the rumor started from within The Baez Law Firm.

Roy Black

Watch the Press Conference at 9am LIVE here.

Jose Baez did announce the addition of 2 new lawyers to the case, Ann Finnell and Dorothy Clay Simms.

Baez refused to answer any questions about attorneys not currently with the defense team when asked about the rumor swirling Mr. Black’s possible participation.

There has also been a substitution in the civil case against Casey Anthony brought by Zenaida Gonzalez through her legal team headed by John Morgan.

My opinion; Cheney Mason will fall away from the defense team; reason to be given; poor hearing.

Agreed, although not sure of the reason they will give unless he plans to retire.

lol. I actually think Roy looks like the late Mr. Rogers.

Some astute monkey if going to find a comment I made about him way back, and the potential for him taking this case. Sigh.

How is she able to afford these attorneys?
    ——————————————-

Hi Mommy, they are working for her free of charge. They stated that this morning but I can understand confusion on that point. First Jose Baez made a joke about needing any additional lawyers to be “pretty good”, if they’re going to split the fees [of the original members of the team].

Later it was stated that all members of the team are working pro bono. That means for the public good; but specifically in this case, implies; without payment.

  8. everyone's a suspect says:

What’s missing in this statement?, “My heart is in it because I believe in the case,” Sims said. “I believe in the facts, and I believe in these two men (Baez and Mason).” Sounds like a bunch of psycho-babble to me….Where’s the part about believing Casey is 100% innocent in the death and disappearance of Caylee? (Not guilty because of reasonable doubt and being innocent of the crime are two different things).

I missed the pc- just started watching now-

I wonder if Roy Black backed out?

It seems to me that everyone should be able to have the defense Casey Anthony is getting. Cheney himself said only someone like Bill Gates could afford it. How true and Howe sad.

Poor people -middle class-slightly rich- Not a chance.
We could only hope for such a ‘dream team’ to come to our aid.

What makes Casey Anthony so lucky? Well Baez and Cheney would have us believe that is only because they believe in the cause.

There are 1000′s of people who need a dream team to fight for their cause. Where do they sign up?

Off to watch the rest- I do agree with Baez’ statement that justice for Caylee IS justice for Casey-

    Here’s to justice *clink*

  11. NancyS says:

Pro Bono means free kyrasmommy, she isn’t paying them they are doing it for recognition. It looks like Cheney Mason is going to bow out? or they just need more people to balance out the paperwork. LOL also another thought? it makes better coverage for their movie? I think that is why they do these conferences, to have real live footage for the movie.

  12. martha says:

I agree Mom3.0—Justice for Caylee IS justice for Casey–how true. The “rats” on this dream team sure hop on and off the ship. What a farce. It’s something new everytime one of them opens his or her mouth. I am burned out on the whys or wherefores mostly because my brain cant handle all the info that many can on this site. I am just too “pooped”. But I am still going to read here and comment occasionally and then just wait for the prosecution to do their thing in May. It all comes back to the 31 days and looking for her child at bars and tatoo parlors, and wanting that “extra” day—-to run.

  13. ChicagoJudy says:

Did that new lady lawyer actually say that she didn’t have a television for decades because back when the Beverly Hillbillies were in black and white, her kids had one in a bedroom and she couldn’t figure out how to turn it on??????

Are we now supposed to think she, too, is a dummy like Mason’s been playing all along? The whole things is just too weird for me!

  14. Kleat says:

Why didn’t Baez pull this team together starting two years ago, the air in the trunk was there and known to have been tested, but they didn’t pull one single resource from Florida, well but for the civil case. Now 8 months before jury is to be selected, they put a team together.

Baez “I will allow Mason to speak to you reporters now” and “I will allow Ms. Sims to speak next’ (paraphrasing… he asserted that he is in control and they do as only he ‘allows’).

Blink, who was the Hispanic reporter and was this person related to Baez’s Miami hispanic media connections or to the Geraldo/Baez teamship?

I don’t know who she was, but I am certain it is by design as to his future plans, yes.

  15. veronica says:

Pro bono my butt. All these lawyers are in it for the publicity. I know everyone is entitled to a proper defense but this is getting crazy. She has a lawyer for everything (pro bono). Too bad she didn’t care about her child as much as she does about continuing to breathe. She was too busy partying. For myself I hope these lawyers have nightmares for the rest of their lives after defending this murderess.

Blink, you say this as though Baez has final say on where the jury pool will be drawn from, but we both know that he doesn’t have final say, Perry does. I just want to clear that up in case you have some readers who aren’t privy to that fact.

What is your opinion that Perry will purposely stay away from the Miami area, knowing full well that Baez has media, and possibly other nefarious connections there? And if you believe Perry will avoid that area, where do you think he will draw the jury from?

    Here ya go dee;

Defense attorney Cheney Mason said claims made by Casey Anthony and Baez that Caylee was alive will now work against them at trial.

“Then all the talking, all the press interviews and the parents going on this show and that show and the lawyer going on different shows establishes they have no credibility whatsoever,” Mason said.

“You can pretty well predict there’s going to be a life sentence, either a plea and get it over with or have a circus trial and then be convicted and get life,” Mason said.

It’s part of a small series of interviews Tony Pipatone conducted with Cheney Mason & Elizabeth Rahter about the case in the early days (2008 & early 2009). The video interviews are actually delightful IMO.

  28. Bees Knees says:

Chica, I feel the same way. We are all frustrated but it’s because we aren’t getting a balanced view ~ it’s been all about the defense and blah, blah, blah and the lies blah, blah, blah, and the new lawyers, blah, blah, blah . . . We don’t get to hear the State, or the experts, or LE, or the State’s witnesses, . . . we don’t get to hear what they have to say until the trial begins. Don’t worry. Casey killed Caylee and it doesn’t matter how many lying lawyers say she didn’t. It cannot change the fact that she did.

  37. Word Girl says:

    OutofOrder,
I may have this wrong, but I understood Blink’s statement as a reference to Baez’s future plans to work in the Hispanic media, not as his attempt to cull sympathetic Latinos for the jury pool. Aside from excluding those who are opposed to capital punishment (since this will be a death-qualified jury), who conducts the voir dire in Florida? Judge, attorneys, combination of both? Do they use questionaires?
I’m sure Baez will get some smarmy trial consultants in, also.

200,031 Reasons I believe Casey is Guilty

In light of the burgeoning defense team who now operates off the funds provided by the taxpayers of Florida, I thought it appropriate to rerun this article.

Original article posted on March 20, 2010

June 16th, 2008 is the last day we THINK someone other than Casey saw Caylee alive. And that’s actually only if George Anthony had a rare moment of honesty. But there is no one, including Casey Anthony, who has stated they saw a living Caylee past the date of June 16th, 2008. And no one knew Caylee was missing – which actually equates to dead – until July 15th. That’s the day Cindy and George Anthony discovered the car, that they thought Casey was driving, located in an impound lot in Orlando. That’s the day they breathed in the unforgettable stench of death. That’s the day their hearts stopped beating.

The only reason we’re sitting here 20 months later knowing a child was missing on July 15th, 2008 and ultimately found dead in a swamp area 1/4 mile from her home VERSUS sitting here hearing of the remains of a small child being found and the Orlando authorities trying to figure out WHAT child was missing, is because Cindy Anthony tracked her lying daughter, Casey Anthony, down and allegedly was told that evening that then 2 year old Caylee Marie Anthony had been kidnapped 31 days prior.

Thirty-one days – that’s the ONLY official story Casey Anthony has told law enforcement. On July 15th/16th she repeated it at least twice orally, and once in writing. Thirty-one days prior, she contended, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, the alleged babysitter of Caylee Marie, had taken possession of Caylee and then both of them disappeared for eternity. The nanny has never been found. No one, not one single person, other than Casey Anthony, has ever seen the nanny. Nothing told by Casey to law enforcement concerning the nanny checked out to be true. Nothing Casey told about herself to law enforcement turned out to be true.

On July 16th, when Casey Marie Anthony was booked for the first time, law enforcement had not been given one single statement from her as to what happened to Caylee, who had Caylee, where Caylee was last seen, where Casey was and what she was doing when Caylee went missing, that checked out to be true. On that date is the last time Casey Anthony told law enforcement anything concerning the disappearance – which equates to death – of her child, Caylee Marie Anthony.

And then the investigation revealed that those thirty-one days had been spent partying, sleeping with an uncountable number of men, getting tattoos to memorialize her beautiful life, running the club scene and lying to everyone who asked about the whereabouts of Caylee Marie Anthony. She’s at Universal. She’s at the beach. She’s at Busch Gardens. She’s at SeaWorld. She’s..she’s…she’s…having the time of her life.

Casey Anthony never cooperated with law enforcement to develop a composite sketch of Zanny the Nanny. Casey Anthony never cooperated with her own family to get a composite sketch out on Zanny the Nanny. Casey Anthony never cooperated with Tony Padilla, Leonard Padilla, Tracy McLaughlin or Rob Dick in developing a composite sketch for them to use to find Zanny the Nanny. What she did do, however, according to several of these people who were there when she got out of jail on bond for the first time August 21, 2008, was change her story of where the kidnapping took place, and under what circumstances it took place.

There have been sympathizers, or maybe delusional folks, who have practiced the mantra that no one involved in the Anthony family took money for appearances, for pictures, for videos or for interviews. There have been those who have denied there was ever a $200,000 pay out for the snapshots of a life taken. They have denied that any of these folks took those funds for memorabilia of a child still intentionally left rotting in a swamp. Money taken for images of a baby girl left to be torn asunder by animals.

And I assume those same folks will most likely, now that it has been revealed to them that the funds did, in fact, come to CASEY ANTHONY for photographs and videos she sold of her own murdered daughter in August 2008, will respond SO WHAT? She had the right to! They were her pictures! Casey needed to fund her own defense for being charged with….

uhhh, murder? NO! She had not been charged with murder! She was not facing capital murder charges. She was not facing manslaughter. She was only facing charges associated with LYING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT WHO WERE TRYING TO FIND HER DAUGHTER! The only thing she needed to do to get those charges dropped, or significantly reduced, was to cooperate with law enforcement and assist in locating her daughter. IF her story was true.

So why did she need $200,000? Was it to put up for ransom to get the kidnapper to turn Caylee back to her loving mother? Apparently not.

Was it to print flyers of the suspect Zanny the Nanny, or her sister Samantha so that the face of this evil kidnapper could be spread from Miami to Seattle and result in the unquestionable eventual arrest of this baby-stealing woman? Apparently not.

Was it to take out ads in various media to ensure the maximum amount of people could see Caylee’s face and the face of her kidnapper? Apparently not.

Was it to hire private investigators and bring all possible forces together to find the kidnapper and bring Caylee to safety? Apparently not.

200,000 dollars and 31 days – and not one unit of any of it spent on saving Caylee Marie Anthony.

That comes to 200,031 reasons for 12 people to find one woman guilty of capital murder. She has lived her life since June 16th, 2008 as if she knew exactly where Caylee was NOT – and that was NOT where anybody needed to bother spending a second of 31 days for Caylee’s sake, that was NOT where Casey needed to be spending her precious time with authorities to find Caylee, and that was NOT where anybody needed to spend one red cent for Caylee’s sake, because that place was NOT among the living.

  43. NancyS says:

    Ruthie?
as Blink and others say, scroll and roll on by the stories and posts that you don’t agree with.

We love coming here to get justice for Caylee and if it takes posting the truth about the defense then so be it!

Caylee your day in court is coming and we stand on YOUR SIDE of the courtroom… oh yes we do cutie.

I just have to say I love this woman!!!!! NOT CINDY!!!!!! the Anchor her name escapes me….

Even back in Aug 2008 media got it right!

  45. OutofOrder says:

WordGirl – thanks, that makes sense, so now both issues are covered. :)

    Ruthie,

The A’s aren’t operating on “the attention factor”, – they have proven time and again that they will continue to shame Caylee’s beautiful memory purely by their own hateful, uncaring nature for Caylee, with no provocation needed from the watchful public.

Nobody can *make* them behave any different than what has always come natural to them; lie, lie, cover for Casey and attempt to hide the truth of their own grave dysfunctions, but at least people like Blink will always be dedicated to holding their feet to the fire. As it should be.

  46. dee says:

oh I love going back to the basics, just when everyone starts to wavier and get all afraid that Casey could walk free, just take it back to the beginning folks, after 2 years we know so much, measure that with what was said back in the summer of 2008…it is crystal clear!

  47. dee says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FlbC74ccsU&feature=related

yeah Caylee is close, sadly she was just down the street

  48. Sister says:

Ruthie, I understand what you are saying, however, the defense was vehemently opposed to a gag order.
The purposes of the Sunshine Law in Florida are for many reasons. One of which, IMO, is so the public can apply pressure to have justice for victims. May Caylee have her day in court!
