Oh my … In a sad way, and with heavy heart, I am actually hoping that testing on this find does turn out to be Natalee and bring, if not closure, at least afford her family the opportunity of place and time to mourn her passing; they have been waiting so long.

    :(

exerpt posted IAW the fairdealings provision of the copyright act:

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/11/16/aruba.bone.found/index.html?hpt=T2

“(CNN) — A jawbone found on an Aruban beach will undergo forensic testing to determine whether it is human and, if so, whether it belongs to Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, last seen on the island in 2005, authorities said Tuesday.” …

I lucked in and tuned in, with three minutes to spare! Now that’s timing! Enjoyed the program, Blink. Nice discussion on your part and glad that you were able to talk about your work and what drives you and the choices you make.

IF the bone belongs to Natalie, there will be no more doubt about this young woman’s fate in Aruba, ending the possibility of a run-away idea being used as an excuse.

    Thanks again, Blink.

    Thank You Kleat.
You are a very valued contributor here and friend.

(or is it lucked out? )

Blink- I missed it again- I hope the pod caste will be up soon. Until then, I look forward to reading others thoughts on the show.

Tis up- Jersey had major storm in the wee hours and power out until 10 minutes ago.

    Grr.

    Blink,
Your voice is singular. Can I thank you?

I often wish your whole blog was an audio book! Can you imagine how much we could get done if this was a …Pod?

Who would speak the voices of your significant responders?
Pray tell..Morgan Freeman would have a role. Which actresss could possibly intone the messaqge of Mom 3.0 (and j2k who named her?)
Personalities abound and we exist in all possibilities.

Who speaks the role of Blink? (Answer: Gavin de Becker). Best option is always the author, herself.

Please continue to write your heart out, Blink. And rememeber, everyone needs an Editor.

    lol, and heart u.

  6. Chris' mom says:

In listening to your interview with Dana, at the end you were both talking about how cases seem to pick you. Dana said, “…cases do pick us and it’s because we care…”

I must say that is exactly the reason I initially commented on your site. I read your comments on Chris and your responses to posters and I could tell that you were fair and that you cared.

Yours was not the only site I ever visited but it was the only one I was ever drawn to. You do care…it oozes out of you. Thank you for caring, it has made a difference in my life.

As you and your son have in mine.

In such an unwelcome journey, your ability to endure gives strength to people that need it, when they need it, I have seen it first hand.

Inside Joke: Get ready to back the truck up, lol.

  7. IMOIMO says:

Yes, I agree too. Was watching NG last night and they had a forensic anthropologist, (forgive me if its spelled wrong) who said that you can determine quickly if the jaw bone is human, belonged to a female, and if the female was white, hispanic, african american, etc. They seem to think that this jaw bone did indeed belong to a white female because they have a molar which determines the ethnicity and the jaw does not have 2 humps where the “chin” would be, which tells them it is female because females have a pointy chin, not the butt cheek chins like the men :-) I saw that Scared Monkeys appeared to have a picture of a jaw bone, I don’t know if it is the one found or an example.

    Praying for the Holloway-Twitty family….

  8. Bam from Mississippi says:

    FYI**

That pic on Scared Monkey is NOT the bone found. It indicates in small writing along with the pic.

    -Bam

Yes Bam, that is correct, it was a stock photo, have no idea why that outlet used it.

  9. IMOIMO says:

Thanks Bam, I saw today that they posted the little note under it, however yesterday, that little note was not there under the picture so it did make me wonder, thanks for clarifying.

  10. Mom3.0 says:

Good show Blink. Many important topics/ cases were discussed.Any further news on The Halloway case? IMO , the timing of the find is very telling- but as you once said- Missing people oftentimes seem to choose when they (or their remains)will be found. Perhaps Natalee thinks its time? My prayers for her family.

Dana and you discussed how technology seems to effect many cases you cover. The points about technology being a double edged sword in some of these cases were quite interesting- In one respect it can add much needed evidence or proof of wrong-doing- on the otherhand- it can add nothing but subterfuge & confusion.- Thought provoking discussion.

I really appreciated Dana’s taking the time to ask about what it is you do Blink- it was very fascinating, to hear your thoughts on how a case is chosen for BOC ect. In the future, I hope you will discuss the ways in which BOC and/or your contributors have impacted other cases you have covered, positively or negatively. I realize you touched alittle on this topic IRT Boc’s impact in The Sheddy case and the Tracy/Chris case. I’d like to hear more.

IMO, it seems as if BOC have been around alot longer than nearly 2 years. I appreciate the voice your site gives to the victim’s and their families. I also appreciate being able to lend my voice and opinions to the cause of justice and read other’s thoughts and opinions. All in the hopes that something I/we contribute will help.

BOC IMO is so much more than just an opinion site- It actually makes a positive difference in cases. That is phenomenal Blink.

    P.s
I watched The Hoff’s Roast too, I thought it was very funny and I was saddened to hear of Greg Giraldo’s death.

Thank you as always Mom 3.0 for your thoughtful and kind feedback.

I will LOVE to be more indepth on our casework when I am able. I am going to have to come up with a less macabre term for post discussion of completed cases than “post mortem” though.

    B-
It is so comforting and heartwarming to know that people like you exist. That someone like you gives attention and work and care to these cases, and that you do it for no other reason than because you just care. A million thanks to you.

I wish you all the success and happiness in your life (personal and professional).

    You have made a difference.

We are the sum of our parts, thank you from the Blinktank et al

  12. Kleat says:

    You are welcome, Blink.

To tonight’s NG topic of Holloway, and the videos she’s showing of Beth H.’s visit to Joran in Castro Castro, there was an obvious comment by BH as she presents a chocolate bar, with apologies that she wanted to get for him, a Three Muskateers Bar. I thought she might have known for some reason, that JvdS liked this candy.

AT the end, Joran says he’s missed the meaning of the Three Muskateers reference, so he didn’t have some liking for this candybar. Maybe he did get the meaning and wanted a bit more info, or wanted to revisit the topic with his visitors, at some future time.

Could it be that Joran understood the meaning of Beth’s reference? He’s well read, he knows history, would he make the connection to the three Muskateers and their heroic deeds, including the more recent Hollywood version of ‘The Man in the Iron Mask’?

Could Beth have planted the seed in Joran’s mind, that she might be able to offer escape, or a route out of his predicament somehow, making him more willing to give Holloway what she wants. We know that Joran wants out. This might have, if nothing else, upped the odds that vdSloot would want to communicate with Holloway to see what she can do for him.

I can answer that most easily. Beth was referring to Joran and the Kalpoe brothers.

It was snark to that pompous, uh, prisoner for life, and I think he may have caught on but wanted her to tell him.

I so want this child home with her family it is nauseating how this goes on and on.

    B

  13. Kleat says:

(of course, can’t see Beth Holloway dressed in monks robes leaving with Joran carried from his cell underneath the bulky garment.)

  14. Eloise says:

Just finished listening, great discussion. I so agree with your theory on why people are needed and inspired to help those in times of personal tragedy. So glad you have that drive and want to share that gift with all of us. Thanks.

  15. Mom3.0 says:

ba dump bump! Blink your humor and wit are unsurpassed.

I look forward to a more in-depth discussion in the future Blink- Keep up the good work.

BTW – Speaking of technology’s positive & negative effects-Did you see that story on what happened to Bill Nye? & how the audience reacted?

Geez, it reminded me of an old Seinfeld episode.

  16. susanm says:

great podcast blink,i cant quit thinking and envisioning(cartoonish) about the jawbone, i hope its natalee’s ,but how bizarre after all this time ,to be found by american tourists, proves god’s still with us .

  17. IMOIMO says:

I guess we wouldn’t hear about it as much over here in the states but I wonder who else is “missing” in Aruba, should this jawbone indeed be human but not Natalee’s?

  18. Mom3.0 says:

Just sharing this news link :

Natalee Holloway’s dad: Officials requested her dental records

  19. Josie says:

Blink, I just finished listening to the show. I so hope you’re hunch is right about the bone fragment being that of Natalie Holloway. Her family needs to be able have some closure. Natalie needs to be able to be laid to rest. How sad.

You did a great job on the coverage of the Kyron Horman case, too. I hope answers come soon in that case too.

I’m so glad I finally got to listen to the show. I anticipated it all day yesterday, and wouldn’t you know, I had company last evening and had to put it on hold. It was well worth the wait. Thank you for sharing your compassion for the victims and their families with us. As usual, excellent job!

    Ty kindly.

I could very well be wrong, but I think it is her.

  20. NancyS says:

I wonder if they are searching the currents and the water for more of the remains? anyone know? they are keeping this so quiet.

  21. Jane says:

Should this jawbone belong to Natalee, could it have maybe just recently been placed nearby. For some reason, I find it odd that it was found this way. I thought maybe someone with a conscience, who was in the know as to where the body is, maybe was fearful of Joran (now knows he won’t be home)tossed that out where it could be found.

  22. Minnie Penney says:

I just came back from the dentist – got yelled at for not flossing as I should – but, we started talking Natalee – (his wife and daughters have been following the story from the get go) – and jaw bones. They have been to Aruba several times and have dived to see some of the ship wrecks. The German subs sank a bunch of ships during WWII. I looked up some stuff on Wiki, esp. the Battle of the Carribean. I think one of Aruba’s tourist getters is diving around ship wrecks. Not for me though…nooooo…..I like dry land and looking at the ocean. Just on FOX – jury found perp guilty in Chandra’s case. So, maybe hope for a successful prosecution for Morgan !!!

  23. Essay Kaye says:

Aruban officials will release the results on the jaw bone tomorrow.

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/11/22/aruba.bone.found/index.html?hpt=T2

I really hope Blink’s gut is right and this is connected to Natalee so her parents can at least have some sense of closure, as horrible as it is.

  24. Ragdoll says:

Not sure which thread is the best to place this link. JVS defense says he will plead guilty to a violent emotion of murder….or….manslaughter.
