Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Lead Detective Yuri Melich Nominated By Americas Most Wanted
Orlando FL- Yuri Melich, the lead investigator tasked with the investigation into the disappearance and subsequent death of 34 month old Caylee Marie Anthony, has been nominated as an Americas Most Wanted *ALL STAR*.
Corporal Melich had an impressive resume before taking his first and last missing persons case, in the homicide division of Orange County Sheriffs Office.
In 2007, Yuri was assigned three separate homicide cases within a 12 hour time span, and he was awarded Sheriff’s Certificate for successfully closing all three within two weeks.
One case centered on an execution shooting with no witnesses which Corporal Melich was able to tie to two earlier killings; solving both serial shooting cases through in-depth investigation and monitoring phone calls and jail correspondences.
As Yuri explains, he’s most proud of the work he did as a homicide detective, because he was able to apprehend someone who has taken a life and that making a difference like that is one of the “greatest feelings in the world.”

Thanks for putting this up Blink, what fun.
Yuri Melich is phenomenal in the witness stand. He looks at the questioner as if each question is the most important one ever posed. No matter his answer, ya just gotta believe him. My favorite; Baez: Did you lie to Casey? Melich: Yes. Didn’t everyone find that exchange refreshing? But why? It’s simply inexplicable, except that the guy exudes integrity.
If I were on the defense team I would SERIOUSLY consider not asking Melich any questions during the trial. Every second Melich is in front of the jury will be bad for Casey.

again I say I am impressed with your ability to assess witness “payoff”, wrt a jury.
I feel strongly when a person operates on the right side of the compass, like Yuri, we should commend them. I watched this man hobble around with a cane for hours on his day off looking for this baby, as many members of OCSO did.
Please allow me to share with y’all how important it is for us as civillians to celebrate that commitment in their line of work.

On the America’s Most-Wanted Site, where Yuri is nominated as an All Star, I found the writing gratifyingly strong.
Following Yuri’s work from 2001, the article says,
“In 2008, Yuri was working with the Missing Persons unit when he was assigned to investigate the disappearance of a toddler. When her body was later located Yuri took over the years-long homicide investigation and was instrumental in identifying the accused killer who is headed to trial this May.”

I’m a constant reader on blink although I seldom comment. But, it’s hard not to comment on this! I don’t know that there is much I can do for Caylee but recognizing the men that are actually trying to help her seems like a good thing.
