Casey Anthony Trial: JOJO Comes To Court- A Zero To Hero Moment For George Anthony (Podcast Added)

Orlando, FL-  I know I should really write in chronological order for y’all that are just reading the days events.     I just can’t.

In the first day of the trial of the State of Florida v. Casey Anthony I went through  a “Steel Magnolias” equivalent of tissues the first half, and proceeded to sharpen our Henkels in the afternoon for reasons I cannot explain.

Linda Drane Burdick, in her smart and gas-can-red suit, riveted the jurors, the public, and even the defendant, Casey Anthony.

Ms. Anthony shook her head no at all the places she does not want you to look.  Ms. Anthony cried on cue.

Very upsetting this business of your daughter’s skull in a bog where you left it, with the intention of never seeing it again, and all the nastiness that comes with such an imposition.

In a most level and calculated fashion,  Burdick took us through the timeline with resolve.  While none of us ever really wanted to get to the “end”, we did, and she is right, there is no other that had access to the evidence in this case.

Asking this jury to find a verdict of guilty is going to be like asking who wants ice cream on the way back home.

Enter famed Mayberry Attorney Barney Fife,  I mean self-proclaimed  “Juanie Cochran”  , Jose Baez after lunch with his clients proclamation that Caylee Marie Anthony died on June 16, 2008 while both Casey and George were present, by an accidental drowning in the above-ground swimming pool.

That was just the start of the delusion for public consumption.  If you did not raise your glass and look at the bottom in the light, you were not paying close enough attention.  Am I really hearing this?  Is there something in my water?

Kronk was kronked again, and accused of hiding Caylee’s remains from some unknown place, but ending up in the Suburban junkmess; and motivation for a reward as opposed to relieving himself was the reason he came upon her tiny skull.

Through her attorney, Casey Anthony did exactly what I have said she would do.  She blamed George for not reporting Caylee’s death and Cindy for leaving the ladder up to the pool , and wept while Baez told us all that Casey was sexually abused from the age of 8.

Masterfully and Mercifully,  Jeff Ashton laid down the hammer in response.  George Anthony was called as the States first witness.

We held our breath.  Could George  really lay down in his own chalk outline for the kid who just called him a perv, a pedophile?

Phew.

JoJo took the stand, and I liked him again.  I believed, as I always have, that he loves and misses his cherub Caylee more than he loves fake dignity as doled out to him by his wife and daughter, and he did right by her.

I repeat: HE DID RIGHT BY HER

Putting George Anthony on the stand first was artful, and I presume the reason the defense wanted an “order” for how the state was going to call it’s witnesses.   Mission failed.

George stated he never inappropriately touched Casey, or had been in an inappropriate sexual act in front of her.  What a disgusting tactic by his daughter and I apologize to those victims who are actual victims of such atrocity to have to hear it.

(Editors Note: You can be a hack and review George’s online activity and know his “proclivities” have nothing to do with children whatsoever.)

Jeff Ashton had about a gazillion sustained objections and an instruction to the jury about the appropriateness for attorneys to meet with a witness in advance.

Jose Baez asked a slew of questions that were ambiguous and unclear and frankly catapulted my headache.

Baez got the hook, and Mr. Anthony was excused subject to recall.

If I had a doubt in my mind before- its gone now. Casey murdered her daughter. If the “accident” scenario was the truth and not something the defense recently pulled out of the sky, Casey would have taken a plea long ago and would not have sat in jail for the last 3 years. Disgusting.

I completely agree. To hear that “Fable” blame everyone but Casey for Caylee’s death was more than I could stomach.

Her own lawyer just renewed my position this is a death penalty case.

Blink, you know how much I heart you. Maybe you’re right, for one day when needed GA was JoJo. I just still can’t believe he has borrowed his manhood back from his wife. I really hope I am mistaken. And now for page two . . .

Blink, you’re the best. It is incredibly heartening, too, to read and feel all of the dedication and positive energy put forth by all Blinksters in this and every case BOC covers.

I am still chuckling over Papa Bear JP’s exchange with Bozo…

    “May I approach?”

    “No.”

    Justice for Caylee.

    Lol, as did Blink.

Blink, after listening to Baez’s opening statements I recalled a statement by Casey on video on a jail visit with GA and CA. She stated “don’t worry, I didn’t say anything”, what do you or anyone here think of that? What was she alluding to?
Shame on you Jose Baez and the whole defense team. Casey Anthony you have done this to yourself, not your Dad, not your Mom, or Lee or Roy Kronk. You are souless and for that all your lying, STEALING, and maniupulations will come forward in 8 weeks.
In closing the State should play the video from Caylee’s Memorial of the song with picutes titled “Gone to Soon”

  6. Teresa says:

If Cayley drowned in the pool why would her remains have duct tape over her mouth?

Exactly, that was not discussed in the Fable Presentation.

When I was 13 or so, I read a quote from G.K. Chesterton in the frontispiece of Morrow’s “Thorofare.”

“the past is always present: yet it is not what was, but whatever seems to have been”

When you’ve dealt extensively with a pathological liar, you come to realize that their lack of objectivity is so great, that they recognize whatever they say as the truth. Over time, I’m not convinced that they actually differentiate. All of us have some degree of subjectivity in how we view the past, depending upon our sources of information, biases, etc. But for the pathological liar, I think it’s a whole ‘nother dimension.

cindeefromwisconsin, Who knows from what world of delusion Casey declared that she didn’t say anything.

  9. janetoo says:

Ok, constant reader, not much of a contributor and while saying that I admire those of you who do contribute and show your constant advocacy for Caylee.
Ok, Caylee drowns, 2 adults are with her, her mother, her grandfather, (I’m simply trying to vision how jose even thought this would work). We have a child who has drowned (supposedly) so of course the next thing family members would do is first hide her under a playhouse, sandbox, this doesn’t work, so they put her little body in layered bags after closing air off with duct tape (I thought she drowned) so closing her air passages and then well, put her in your trunk for a couple of days and live life as though you are a single, vibrant woman………..WHAT? I don’t even need to say anything about the googling of possible ways to kill someone, poison, neck breaking………….This is actually why I did mention it though, I am not sure about the drowning, as Xanax being the nanny and sleeping in her mothers car at times I’m sure whle Casey partied. Casey premeditated her murder, the evidence is there, Casey may have submerged Caylee until she drowned, but Caylee IMO did not die by accident. No matter how much dirt Jose sweeps under a rug, anyone can see that same dirt if the rug is lifted, lies are all they have for a defense………Put Casey on the stand, she’ll lie herself straight to the needle that ends her useless, harmful to others, life. Caylee did not die by accident – Justice for Caylee. Someone needs to sum this up in a Dr. Suess fashion, twirl it, topple it, take it though mazes………..and come out with more logic than Baez would on any story (defense) trial. 8 weeks of trial, boy, this is gonna be a long haul when all you want to do is tape Baez’s air holes and let the State show the logic and bring justice to Caylee, it would take probably only yesterday to make a conviction. I promise Blink that this is my only crazy rant…to all of those who diligently follow this case, love a little girl you never knew, take good care of yourselves during this trial time…….Caylee would want that for all of you……

I wonder how different George’s testimony would have been had the court followed the normal rule of not allowing potential witnesses in the court prior to their testimony?

Does not apply to victims next of kin, and has nothing to do with his preliminary testimony.

Baez screwed the pooch on this one when he tried to have the good docs relay Casey’s BS story as expert witnesses.
As a result, the state had the oppty to depose them, which they mostly did, and they learned about the allegations Casey was planning to make.

The state told the Anthony’s, and again, we see the result of poor lawyering, and Casey attempting to blame everyone but herself.

Can’t wait for the pros to show the jail tapes of Casey blowing off GA and CA’s question of if this was an accidental drowning!!! Ummm.. if GA knew it was an accident why would he ask at the jail and it was her out if she was that scared of GA. She was no more afraid of George then I am sitting in my living room right now.

Also wish Baez would have used his time on different shows to go over his Cliff notes on “Basics of Going to Trial”. Geez.

    Heart you Blink!!

  16. Sammy says:

    Blink.

How good of a liar is Casey Anthony?

We all know she’s a prolific liar. (to the degree of pathological liar MOO)
But wondering how good of a liar you think she is.

I’ve know people who lied like KC does.
After awhile, you just know they’re lying and you don’t take anything they say at face value.
You stop trying to belabor the point of trying to point out an obvious lie to them – b/c these type of people just make up another lie that they think will fool you about their last lie.

I think that the State will proceed with their case in the way the have always intended.
Witness after witness will attest to KC’s habitual lying.
And that KC and KC alone is responsible for Caylee’s death.

The State is not going to play “Casey/Baez” courtroom rules.
I mean, just b/c Baez dropped the bomb in his opening statements yesterday – the State is not going to go into the evil accusations KC made against George. (except for George + Lee denying this ever happened)
The State is not going to go into “defense mode”, they will stick to their solid case of proving KC is a liar and a killer.
    MOO

At some point I believe Casey is gonna have to take the stand. MOO
In a he said/she said showdown … how GOOD of a liar is Casey?

I agree, and I have to say, I keep seeing people calling Casey stupid, she is absolutely not dumb.
    B

  17. Columbiares (Pam) says:

Sorry- it wasn’t a question if she drowned by accident- but CA saying that someone on the news said it was an accidental drowning and KC said “surprise surprise” sarcastically.

DT trying to imply her actions were inappropriate and then objecting when pros support that. Shaking head.

  18. Sammy says:

And as a snarky side note …
WTH happened to inmate Casey Anthony’s eyebrows?
Does she sit in her cell and pull them out one by one at night?
They’ve been getting worse and worse the past few weeks, but her right brow is seriously jacked up today.

  19. Idahogal says:

Oh Blink, I would laugh if this were not all too sad.
I was shocked but not surprised by the story of what “really happened” according to Baez & Co. Do they really think that anyone is going to believe that load of crapola?!?!

I have not followed all of this case here on BOC, my heart is too full with Kyron’s case. I just wanted to pop in and thank you for all of your incredible work on Caylee’s behalf. I surely hope this jury gives Casey what she deserves in the end, and I do believe the Good Lord will do the same when the time comes.

God Bless innocent little Caylee, she is in a much better place surrounded by the love she so deserves.

  20. Judi says:

Caylee was NOTHING like her mother. Every picture of her is just so precious and sweet. As a mother, as a human being, this whole thing makes me physically sick. This thing that is her biological mother will stop at nothing. She kills her own daughter, then tries to place the blame on her family, who are probably the only ones who had any real love for Caylee. She is just simply disgusting. She sits there with that stone cold look on her face, an expression of her heart which is just as stone cold. This thing has no emotions, no heart, no conscious, nothing – she is as empty and void as anything I have ever seen.

I believe Florida state law says that anyone who kills a child under 12 gets the death penalty.

Here are some other facts regarding the Florida Death Penalty..

    - In January 2000, the Florida Legislature passed legislation that allows lethal injection as an alternative method of execution in Florida. Florida administers executions by lethal injection or electric chair at the execution chamber located at Florida State Prison. The three-legged electric chair was constructed from oak by Department of Corrections personnel in 1998 and was installed at Florida State Prison (FSP) in Starke in 1999

    - 12.68 years is the average length of stay on Death Row prior to execution.

  22. Ragdoll says:

JMHO, but I could have sworn Baez helped out the prosecution with his cross exam of last male witness (before Marie Kissh).

    Holy Moses.

  23. twinkletoes says:

First, let me say I have no doubts that Casey Anthony killed Caylee and it was likely intentional and likely for reasons Casey herself doesn’t fully comprehend, including her desire to get a guy. That said, I am shocked at the weak defense. Drowned in a pool? Well, accident’s happen like that all the time so a big cover up seems really implausable. If they are claiming it was an accident, then how about “i accidentally killed her when I was experimenting with giving her drugs to get her to sleep so I could go out and be a huge whore and i picked the drugs because I am a selfish immature idiot who can’t afford a sitter and has a compulsive need for male attention.” At least then she can explain the formaldehyde, the cover up, maybe even the duct tape (though that is a freaking stretch of even the most creative mind). I can’t imagine any mitigating excuse for the duct tape on that poor baby’s skull.
Good lord, I hope this trial is quick and her sentence severe.

  24. Mom3.0 says:

Why is The defense allowed to ask each witness the question about Caylees drowning on the 16th?

I dont understand, there is no evidence this occurred, and especially not the way Casey “dreamed” up- the opening statements are not to be viewed by the jury as evidence or fact- so how can this question be asked as if it is so-

What happened to Casey having to testify to a new story- inorder for it to be presented and argued?

ps – good job on the r. show Blink.

  25. A Texas Grandfather says:

The witnesses on the stand this morning are across the spectrum from little boy to the very professional demeanor and appearance of Marie Kissh. She seems to have grown up and IMO is way beyond where the guys are.

Mr House is much more in control of himself than the first two guys.

I would like to take the guys aside and teach them how to dress like gentlemen. Sloppy atire and appearance detract from their value as witnesses IMO.

The prosecution is setting the stage as to the behavior of Casey during the period of May thru July. The fact that she appears to be happy and having a great time and never mentioning that Caley was missing. Always the same response when questioned. “She is with the Nanny” somewhere.

Very revealing that Ms. Kissh asked Casey about the weekly expense of having a “nanny” for Caylee and the answer being $400.00 per week. There was no follow-up question as to what Ms. Kissh thought about the weekly expense. Casey, of course, being the one living the world of fiction that she created, would not be bothered by such a fact.

We have not seen any of the forensics. Due to the length of time the body was decomposing, I am not certain if they was any soft tissue left to test for toxicology of cloroform or any other potential life threatening chemical. Maybe there is a way to refute the statement of accidental drowning made by the defense.

  26. Mom3.0 says:

I just wanted to comment on Maria Kisch- IMO her testimony was very believable and she seemed to care and worry more about little Caylee than anyone- especially her own mother.

Now I do not fault those guys for not really looking out for Caylee’s welfare- no do I expect them to necessarily believe Casey was a bad mother-

How would they know? To them the “kid” was well behaved, didnt complain about being hungry , and was dressed okay, with her hair combed. Add to that CINDY packed a backpack for her each day- and Casey had flash cards ect for her…so that equates to Casey seeming to be an attentive, nurturing mother.

To them Casey is still an unbelievable girlfriend- she cooked she cleaned she partied- but she didnt take out the trash- oh and inorder to play this role she had to get rid of her baby daughter- otherwise how would she ever fit into their world and still to this day be considered a good girlfriend?

As Maria sadly testified, a two year old answered the door to a stranger- the door opened out to a stairway. Maria stayed with little Caylee while Casey was in the back room with her boyfriend. She was alone with Caylee on a balcony screened or otherwise- Clint wanted to leave she did not- She was not willing to leave Caylee unattended.

When everyone decided it was time to leave little Caylee asked for help putting on her shoes…not from her loving doting mom (snark), but from the person that seemed to be giving her any attention and would listen to her plight.

Last- Baez failed in trying to portray Maria as a jealous girlfriend who didnt like Casey- if anything he only seemed to underscore the fact that it is his client that was jealous and wanted so badly to be seen as a super-girlfriend

    AJMO

I totally agree, and really, why would he draw the jurors to a conclusion that currently, in her pilgrim re-enactment outfit, a jury would not even buy?

Who thought Maria Kish was going to be envious of Casey Anthony when Casey could not even stand to look at her, she was stunning- what Casey was “supposed” to be.

  27. Kleat says:

Ragdoll, noticed the brows too! She’s been busy with the threads!

Blink, it was good to see George’s position yesterday, although the parents had been purposefully or manipulated by the defense towards this or similar end from the beginning, pushing them into a media hurricane exploded circus, that’s all over now and the parents have done what they can for the Casey Cause.

Good for Mr. George Anthony. Good on him.

Now to await Cindy’s testimony, and see where the circus whirlwinds have placed her in all of this. Beneath that ‘dysfunctional picture’ were two parents who showed glimmers of understanding what was going on. Now what will Cindy do in the face of reality. Her notetaking yesterday, may have been a coping mechanism for what was to come. Or was she preparing for Casey’s defense once again– am skeptical about what she will do– fingers crossed she’s come around now.

Bill Schaeffer has reviewed yesterday, and revised his impressions of the defense position, feels it will fail. But if the defense can just get the ‘accident in pool’ across, even if the George, Kronk, conspiracy (fed by one black hatted cowboy’s daisy chain theory) fails, they could get a not guilty plea, failing that, they could use the dregs in mitigation.

  28. Mom3.0 says:

    Re Teri post-
Hi Teri- in my opinion Cindy that answer was to Cindy’s statement we forgive anything youve said ( at the time it had just become know that Casey was calling Cindy crazy ect) i think Casey being Casey the master manipulator – was deflecting blame from another hurtful lie- and said oh dont worry I didnt say anything.
IMO that little interchange was blown WAY out of proportion

It seems like she was coached to do this and it made me sick to think she could pull her father even deeper into her web of lies and murder. I hope he finally gets how sick she is and how willing she is to do ANYTHING to avoid responsibility. Clearly, she should have gone into acting.

  39. zinnia says:

So, now that Baez made that ridiculous story about Caylee drowning and George and Casey covered it up, do they have to do anything to prove it? I mean, I know he’s just trying to create reasonable doubt, but if they can do this, why can’t anyone just make anything up? Does this mean that Casey is more likely to take the stand in order to back up her story?
The stuff about Roy Krunk was confusing the way Baez laid it all out in his opening statement. He rambled on and on in a confusing manner. I’m trying to put myself in the position of the jurors to think about what they might be thinking about all this.

  40. IMOIMO says:

  41. MsEnscene says:

Love Blink’s comment about Maria Kissh being “what Casey was supposed to be”, Yep, what Casey passed herself off as being! The successful career gal on the upward track. Of course Casey was supermom as well! Maria recognized some chinks in the supermom’s aura of caregiver extraordinaire whereas the guys didnt. Wonder what that tells us!

Just the little touches about Caylee being left alone while Tony and Casey were enjoying some close moments in the boudoir. Caylee being able to open the door to anyone passing by. And then add Maria feeling that she couldn’t leave Caylee alone unsupervised with a balcony accessible. Finally, Maria aiding Caylee to tie her shoes with no help coming from attentive and dedicated mumsy-poo. All very telling.

I was hoping for a little more emphasis from the SA during that whole testimony. But maybe a subtle approach won’t be lost on this jury. I hope it will hit home.

So, sure, Casey didn’t knock Caylee on her junior pins around others when she was putting on her show of a guy’s perfect wonderwoman (“And, guys, look! She cooks and cleans and is great in bed any time of day!”) But attentive to Caylee? Not so much when duty called elsewhere!

  42. NancyS says:

OMG I may have to quit watching this idiot! HE is KILLING HIS CLIENT, I am SURE THIS JURY DONT LISTEN TO HIM ANY MORE.
Did you buy duct tape at Blockbuster? a gun? OOOOOHHHHHHHH, I am so upset I just dont know if I can do this. I feel like breaking things.

  43. Columbiares (Pam) says:

  44. Columbiares (Pam) says:

I’m with you Nancy!!! Thank God for the Blink support group!! I can’t help thinking that he’s also making the jury crazy with his constant overruled objections, sidebars, and smirks. I must warn him that if his plan is to get her an appeal on his ineffective counsel that it’s a very dangerous gamble!

  45. lizzy says:

Casey has got to be pulling those eyebrows in anger, fear, frustration, or some other emotion. It shows a crack in the armour.

  46. Sammy says:

I just don’t understand why Baez is allowed to ask every witness -
“Mr/Ms ______, were you at the Anthony house on June 16th when Caylee drowned in the swimming pool?

How is it possibly legal in a court of law to make this claim as he is.
Opening arguments? Yeah, it’s an outrageous statement – but that’s when the attorney is laying out his case he will argue.

For this to be allowed to be repeatedly asked throughout the trial doesn’t seem right.
It’s as though this slime-ball “theory” has been accepted as fact of the case by the court.
Gives it some legitimacy if the court allows it to be said.
He’s not asking “when Caylee ALLEGEDLY drowned …”

Can’t the State object to this?

I third that! Casey didn’t want to work for it but lying about her status wasn’t below her. Now look at her? I’m sure Maria Kissh’s attractive and professional appearance didn’t go over well with Casey, either. MWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAAAAAA!!!!!!! That was gratifying as H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS.

Ms. Kissh also showed a high degree of maturity. That same maturity gave her the gonads to trust her hinky and question Casey about Caylee. Her testimony, imo, is exactly what the prosecution needed and the defense’s worst nightmare.

    My nerves are shot.

I am with Sammy, Blink…why does JB get to keep reinforcing that “Caylee died in the swimming pool”? It is planting and watering a seed for the jury
