NH Girl Celina Cass Body Found in CT River: Police Probe Focuses on Family Home And StepDad Wendell Noyes

Posted by BOC Staff | Celina Cass,Louisa Cass,Wendell Noyes | Tuesday 2 August 2011 12:04 am

West Stewartstown, NH-  Celina Cass, 11 year old Canaan Middle School Student and  basketball player with a luminous grin, was recovered from the Connecticut River this afternoon.

For nearly a week, the tight knit community of Stewartstown,  with a population under 1000,  held vigils for the shy tween, while over 100 police and  FBI agents dedicated unparalleled  manpower to the search for her.

At 10:30 this morning, the remains believed to be that of Celina Cass, were located following efforts to lower the Connecticut River, less than 1 mile from her home.

The sister of Keith and Kayla was removed at 5:30PM EST this afternoon.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity to www.blinkoncrime.com, sources inside the investigation have confirmed that electronic forensic evidence led to  Celina’s recovery today.

While Celina’s stepfather, Wendell Noyes, has not been named a suspect in her disappearance and subsequent death, ” Mr. Noyes’s previous mental diagnosis are a clear factor in this case.”

(Editors Note:  My quote in response to a request to analyze this case: Wendy Noyes is a creeper.  I would not let him look at an enemies kids yearbook.  This child went from images of an average child of her age, to  a blossoming young lady.  If you have anyone in the house, or periphery in the preceeding 72 hours of her disappearance  with any sexual issues, or fringe of same, this is your top tier priority.  StepMonster is worthy of further conversation, fyi.)

Mr. Noyes has a history of hospitalization, both voluntary and involuntary.  In a previous incident involving a former girlfriend and her family,  Noyes was arrested, and subsequently hospitalized as a result of an admitting resident finding that he was a paranoid schizophrenic.  During the criminal phase of this allegation, Noyes was classified as “Unfit to stand trial.”

Outside the Cass/Noyse residence this afternoon, following the announcement Celina was recovered,  Noyse appeared outside screaming and rolling in the lawn, necessitating his most recent psychiatric evaluation.

Requests for a comment or statement from the Cass Family have been unanswered at the time of this publication.

Thanks for that link- I read the article about Celina- tyhis might have already been discussed, if so I missed it…the article states that Kayla and Celina’s bedroom in the basement was furnished with beds- not an airmattress…

Is this true?- if so it would seem as though they were never sent to the basement -and if true it seems they didnt have to leave their comfortable room upstairs…

Just trying to get the facts straight-

If this is true they like most preteen and teens could have wanted to have their separate space away from the family, and opted fr the basement.

I’m relieved to say I was wrong (as were the statement analysts) as to the parents having anything to do with little Breean’s death. Maybe the failed poly’s were due to guilt at leaving her alone outside? Who knows. I failed the only one I ever took for a job and it was horrifying. Especially since I told the truth. They wanted me to retake but I refused. Too humiliating! They said I even failed on my own name and address which showed I was simply not a good “candidate” for the test. Lord..I hope I never have to take one for anything bad. I already fear I’d just fail.

I thank you for your post of aug. 11 regarding my question about Celina’s age not matching normal ages for her grade level. Most of the states in the South and Southwest do not have a program as you describe. IMO more states should do a similar program. Some children are simply not ready for first grade at barely six years. Those that fit this group of not being ready have a difficult time in school for the rest of their school years.

If the newspaper article is factual, then we have some real problems with the step-father or the other male in the house. With the older sister spending the night away, this left Celina alone and defensless.

If the mother and step-father had only been married a year, then we have a mom that is simply not very smart about choices she makes with men. She should have known the problems and never exposed her girls to that environment.

I don’t care what an eleven year old or even a thirteen year old girl wants to do about sleeping away from where family can watch and care for them. They would not get that choice in my home. They would have a bedroom within ten feet of mine and their mother. Boys could be seperated more.

Thanks for your response to my ponderings.
I agree with you about the starting children off too early causing problems later on.

I agree with you and your assessment of Celinas environment possibly being full of dangers. As to the bedroom situation, yes, i hear what you are saying and it would be best to keep all children close.

A child, boy or girl should be safe in their own home- no matter wear their bedroom is- but that is not always the case- Sadly sometimes the hunter resides in the home…and other times they find a way in- (Polly Klass and Elisabeth Smart)
No matter how hard we try to protect our children, we can not watch over them every second- and if the hunter is out there waiting- they will continue to find a way or another child.-

We have to find a way to ERADICATE the hunters from our society- before they choose our children as their prey.

I agree with Tx Grandpa. Girls need to be watched especially closely. ONCE a boy who my dad was mentoring as a “big brother” didn’t have a place to stay and my dad had him stay at our home ONE night. Dad put him in our room (my sister’s and I), mom slept in there room, and dad slept with my sister and I in the living room. I was 13, my sister was 10 and this boy was 16. Although nothing transpired, I have a feeling my dad never slept! This young man did grow up to be a fine gentleman and owns his own insulation business now. At my dad’s funeral he was in absolute tears and stood up to speak saying my father saved his life from drugs, life on the streets, and gangs he ran with that would’ve certainly meant death at a young age. It was moving. That said…as much as my father cared for his young man…being sure he was between him and his daughters was more important. I think you get my point.

I will add this. The young man’s mother was nuts and had tried to kill him and his young brother with a knife! They were put in foster care, but no one could control them. I am glad my dad stepped in to help this young person. To this day he stops by to see if my mother needs anything at all because of his love for my dad. I have to wonder how many of these abusers simply needed to be turned in the right direction, but never had the chance. Sad…very, sad. Because the outcome of never being shown love and direction leads to what we have today and all, too many of the cases Blink covers. :(

  7. Survivor says:

@ATG & Moi, yes, girls need to be closely guarded. Not only from the older boy (in this story) but sometimes from themselves. Sadly, I do not agree that “love” is the ONLY answer. In some cases, that could very well be true and kudos to your dad for trying (and apparently succeeding) in attempting to be that person this boy needed. It doesn’t always work out that way and even the most loved boys grow up to be something this world doesn’t need. I’m thinking of Celina, Breeann, Ky and others constantly and hope that this world will find justice for them all. Maybe one day, we will be able to eradicate the disgusting adults who destroy children for their own gratification. I think I am just bummed, sad and pessimistic today, sorry ;-(

  8. Moi says:

Survivor, I agree. Love if not leveled with proper discipline(and boundaries that are upheld) will fail in many cases. My father also made the same attempt with the younger brother once he got the chance a couple years after first meeting the older brother and it totally failed. Different kid. He wound up in prison :(

Also agree about saving young girls from themselves. I tried to do what so many teens do. Sneak into bars or out of the house at night, etc. to fit into a crowd I had no business with. My dad showed up at a bar I’d snuck into one night and bodily brought out, confronted the doormen on the way out about carding minors..and drug me home…not to mention he sold my car the same week! I was 16. He even put a lock on the outside of my bedroom window. Boy was I angry. Now I am so thankful he cared enough.

See, my dad’s parents died when he was 9 yrs old. He and his brother/4 sisters were raised in an orphanage in the 40′s & early 50′s. Two of his sisters were molested by staff. One had a baby @ 15. He was aware of what dangers were out there and it took me many years to understand the messages he tried to convey to me as a teen and young adult.

I don’t think you’re being pessimistic. You’re seeing the world and a sadly growing percentage of humanity for what it/they’ve become.

  9. Survivor says:

Moi, you are right. It is a reality. I have the opportunity to interact with many parents in my community and it is a different world today than the one in which I was raised. I see and question a lot simply because it differs from my own parenting style. Generally, the parents I see today do not teach and reinforce responsibility and respect. I believe that is one of the biggest factors of our world today. I did many of the crazy things too that you mention. I needed to be saved from myself. My parents tried but I didn’t respect those efforts until my early 20′s. Today I am proud of them and the lessons they instilled in me. I just wished I had taken the “easy” road and learned them much earlier in life ;-)

WTH is going on? Why does it seem like more and more cases are going unsolved of late? Caylee Anthony, Hailey Dunn, Holly Bobo–all different cases, different circumstances, I know, but still. I can’t help but feel it’s a disturbing trend that is now continuing with Celina.

NH town endures ‘creepy’ wait after girl’s death
    http://www.svherald.com/associatedpress/219000

CONCORD, N.H.(AP) — More than two weeks after searchers pulled the body of 11-year-old Celina Cass from the Connecticut River near her house, the lack of an arrest and answers to questions about how she died have cast a pall over her New Hampshire hometown.

Sad and edgy, residents of Stewartstown are waiting — for answers about the girl, justice for her family, peace of mind for themselves. The police’s inability to charge a suspect, an autopsy that couldn’t pinpoint what killed her and the lingering fear that a killer is at large are hanging over folks in the one-stoplight burg with 960 residents near the Canadian border.

“Everybody’s still uncomfortable, wanting some answers,” said Shannon Towle, whose family owns a convenience store and gas station where people gather. “It’s just creepy.”

“Unlike a gunshot wound or something like that, with drownings or victims found in water, it’s a process of elimination,” said Robin Adler, a professor of justice studies at Norwich University.

“When a body is found in water, a lot of things happen that could mimic something that could’ve happened outside of water, like bruising of the head. They have to start with, ‘Was she alive when she entered the water?’ And it’s not just the body that will tell them.”

Police have not said how long the body was in the river, where prolonged exposure to water can erase clues.

“Any subtle skin evidence is gone,” said Dr. H. Wayne Carver II, Connecticut’s chief medical examiner, who isn’t involved in the investigation. “The outer layer of the skin is where you interact with the rest of the world, where we read the interactions. It’s gone.”

Senior Assistant Attorney General Jane Young, who is heading the investigation, won’t comment about that. She says that investigators with the New Hampshire State Police and the FBI are investigating and that the lull in developments shouldn’t be taken as a sign.
“This amount of time shouldn’t signal to anybody that we’ve reached the end of the road,” Young said. “That’s certainly not the way we view it.”
    So Celina’s family waits.

Noyes, who hasn’t spoken publicly since her daughter disappeared, remains in seclusion. Jeanine Brady, her boss at a Colebrook consignment shop and a close friend, said Noyes and her family are patient.

“They’re willing to wait to have an arrest made that’s going to stick,” Brady said. “Celina deserves to have the right person arrested and to have finality that way. They want answers, of course, but it’s more important at this point that the FBI and state agencies can get the right answers.”

Noyes, who was allowed to return to her home last week, is having trouble coping and doesn’t want to live there, Brady said.

“That child’s perpetrator could be someone she knows,” Brady said.

Noyes, 47, has been in and out of hospitals several times since the girl’s disappearance and no longer lives in the house with the mother, Brady said.

“Until he is together, she just can’t be part of that right now,” she said.

The mother, who has received letters of condolence by the hundreds, recently printed up more than 500 photographs that were on Celina’s camera.

“She wishes everyone could see those pictures and know what kind of girl Celina was,” Brady said. “They’re happy pictures. The girls are playing dress-up and just being girls.”

Excellent question and No. No doubt in my mind, this is a smoke out. They believe there is more than one person involved at some level of culpability.

    *snark alert*

O, and did I mention none of this occurred during a reality show nor was it captured on video so they are being extra extra careful about charging anyone with jaywalking these days, let alone capital murder.

FBI debuts child information iPhone app
    http://www.kgw.com/news/FBI-Child-ID-App-127977898.html

A new iPhone application from the Federal Bureau of Investigation lets you have all your child’s vital statistics right in the palm of your hand.

It will help them find your child if he or she goes missing and is a quick resource when time is of the essence, said FBI Supervisory Special Agent Glenn Norling.

Check out the app at FBI.gov

“It looks like I could just take a photo of my child; it would go there and then enter their information in,” parent Mary Davis said.

Just download the free app from the app store on iTunes, add the latest picture of your child and enter your child’s key information. An app for other smartphone brands will be added soon.

Make sure to update it regularly as the child grows, Special Agent Norling said. He also said you can also add more than one child.

“Any type of distinguishing characteristics; if they have a mole or something like that. Add hair color and eye color,” he said “All sorts of things that might make your child stand out in a crowd,” said Norling.

If the unimaginable happens and your child goes missing, you immediately have the info at your fingertips with a recent photo to show authorities.

“In the case of a missing child, time is of the essence,” said Norling.

“Yeah, I like it,” Davis said, after testing out the app Wednesday.

The FBI said all of the information is stored in your phone, agents are not keeping any of your personal information.

Because it’s done through iTunes, the FBI said to work with your cell phone provider as far as keeping the overall password secure for your phone.

“It’s basically a resource kept with you … and you alone,” said Norling. “You choose to email it to police in an emergency.”

“It’s nice when technology is used for things that benefit families and children,” said Portland parent Jill Zahm.

Right now, the FBI app is only available on the iPhone, but expect to see a similar app for other phones soon, agents said.

Sadly, I don’t think they will ever find the guilty party/parties in the Celina case simply because there has been no knews about the investigation in the past couple weeks, and the news before that was all negative; no clues from the autopsies, no info from mother, psycho stepfather pitches a fit in public then check in to a safe mental institute (preparing for an “insanity defense” no doubt), sex offenders as stepfather’s kin, other adult male in the home who supposedly came in at midnight but never saw Celina. I think LE has messed this up big time. There have never been so many probable suspects. Still, nothing. The media haven’t reported anything since her body was autopsied. I fear there will never be justice for Celina. Her mother is free to shack up with more psycho losers and endanger the life of her other child. No law against that. Unfortunately.

  20. concerned citizen says:

It’s really hard to figure out what’s going on with Celina’s murderer. Either they are pretty sure who done it and are just waiting to seal the deal or they haven’t any clue or tangible evidence. I don’t recall reading the Wendell Noyes truck being released although I believe the other truck was.It is incredibly hard to believe that no one in that small town where everyone knows everything and are practically all related haven’t shared notes with each other or officials. To them, the 25K reward would be like a million dollars. What I do know is that there have been a string of unsolved murders over the span of several decades along the Connecticut River, mostly around Claremont. All remain unsolved and have been highlighted on America’s Most Wanted. I’ve heard coffee-shop reference to these unsolved murders locally in reference to Celina’s murder.

STEWARTSTOWN, N.H. — A month to the day when Celina Cass vanished from her rural New Hampshire home, friends of the 11-year-old gathered tonight to launch balloons and place fresh flowers at the dam where divers found her body after an exhaustive search through the North Country.

Their quiet tribute served as a means of grieving — particularly for a handful of young friends who felt a public memorial weeks ago was too soon — and allowed them to keep Celina’s memory in the public’s mind at a time when word of developments in the criminal investigation has waned.

About a dozen of Celina’s schoolmates and nearly as many adults joined in today’s remembrance, timed to come just as the children are preparing to return to school without her.

“It was time that the kids were able to do that,” Baglio said. “That’s their friend, and they don’t want to forget what happened to her.”

As far as the 600 tips, I wonder how many of them are along the lines of “her stepdad’s loony”

If she was lured out of the house by someone she knew, there may be very little physical evidence other than the body. It seems like just about everybody in town was in and out of that house at one time or another and many people would have an explanation for their DNA being recovered in the house. I have read statements that the house was a “party house”, I don’t know how reliable that is, but if true, there may be many POI’s we know nothing about.

    NH school starts without Celina
    http://www.chron.com/news/article/NH-school-starts-without-Celina-2147678.php

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Teachers at a tiny New Hampshire elementary school on opening day Tuesday were ready for questions about the suspicious death of a schoolmate this summer but they weren’t going to initiate any discussion.

School Superintendent Robert Mills said teachers were briefed last week by a pediatric trauma specialist in preparation for the start of classes at Stewartstown Community School, where 11-year-old Celina Cass would have started the fifth grade.

“The kids are still somewhat nervous,” Mills said. “An 11-year-old was taken in their community. They don’t know who. I think they’ll feel better once this is resolved.”

Mills said he has faith investigators will solve the case.

“There’s nothing the school can do for Celina,” he said. “We need to look out for all the other kids. Our goal for them is to get things into a normal routine as fast as we can.”

Mills said he was buoyed by the excitement and happy chatter he heard at a meeting of students and teachers Tuesday morning at the K-8 school.

Attorney General Jane Young had hoped to have toxicology and other test results last week, but said it was not unusual for the process to take as long as eight weeks.

She said investigators have received more than a dozen new tips since a press conference two weeks ago announcing a community reward fund for information leading to the prosecution of anyone responsible for Celina’s death.Young said donations to the fund continue to trickle in, and it has reached about $6,000. The FBI also is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to criminal charges.

A close friend said Celina’s mother, Louisa Noyes, was patiently waiting for answers and struggling with grief over the loss of her youngest child.

“We don’t have any information either,” said Jeanine Brady, who is both a friend and employs Noyes at her Colebrook consignment shop. “We’re trying to get on with our lives and hope the state police are still getting leads. It sounds like they are.”

Brady said Celina’s body was cremated and her ashes share a grave with her maternal grandmother in Groveton.

I read something on some blog (sorry don’t remember where) but the idea is if SF is in mental hospital, he may not be able to be questioned by police unless powers that be (psychiatrists?) permit him to be? That could be quite the game if it is true

  30. GeorgiaDad says:

    @Whaazupwithu

SF apparently has documented paranoid schizophrenic. The hallmark of schizophrenia is a break from reality (The word actually means “split mind”, and therefore is often confused with multiple personality disorder) If he currently is experiencing a split from reality, then he cannot waive his Miranda rights. Also, his testimony would not necessarily have any basis in reality.

LE could probably interview him with his psychiatrists permission about third parties, the schizoid break is usually not completely separated from reality, but could not interview him about his own activities. Any lawyer with half a brain could get such testimony excluded from court, and probably get any evidence later gathered based on his testimony excluded.

It is interesting how quiet this thread has become. With as many people in the house as has been rumored, somebody had to see something.

“I remember sitting in the chair with her and rocking her,” her mother said. “And then the next morning after I came to work, I get a phone call, and she was gone.”

She never saw her daughter again. After Celina’s body was found in the river, Louisa Cass was advised that it would be best if she didn’t see her daughter’s body.

“I go to the cemetery every week,” she said. “I talk to her. I want her to come and tell me what happened so we know.”

The West Stewartstown house where Louisa Cass lived with her two daughters; her new husband, Wendell Noyes; Noyes’ mother; and a family friend, Kevin Mullaney, is vacant now and on the market.

Louisa Cass said her life has changed. She moved to a new town. She and Noyes, married nine months, separated shortly after Celina’s body was recovered.

Tuesday was Noyes’ 48th birthday. Relatives said he suffered a mental breakdown during the height of the investigation and is getting care in Berlin. He talks to no one about Celina’s death, said his mother, Eunice Richards.

“He has nothing to say, even to me,” she said.

Noyes’ mother said she feels guilty she couldn’t help Celina the night she disappeared. She said that even though she’s a light sleeper, she didn’t hear anything.

Louisa Cass said she didn’t hear anything either. She said she doesn’t know how it will feel to get answers about what happened.
“I don’t know, to be honest with you,” she said. “It will never give me peace of mind.

NH town’s skepticism grows in Celina Cass case

Celina’s mother, Luisia, and 13-year-old sister, Kayla, were briefed for two hours by investigators Thursday on details of the investigation. They declined to comment when they left the Coos County Attorney’s office in Lancaster.

Since the discovery of Celina’s body, Luisia Cass has separated from her husband of a year, Wendell Noyes, who has a history of psychological problems.

Luisia hasn’t filed for divorce only because she cannot afford the court fees, said the woman’s friend and employer, Jeannine Brady.

Luisia and Kayla wear crosses containing some of Celina’s ashes; the rest of the ashes are buried with her maternal grandmother in Groveton.

They have moved to an apartment in Vermont, not far from where Kayla attends school in Canaan. Like everyone else who knew Celina, they wait for answers.

“The community needs some finality,” Brady said. “It’s unnerving.”

Medical examiner: Celina Cass was murdered

Celina Cass, the 11-year-old New Hampshire girl found dead along the Connecticut River last month, was murdered, officials announced today based on toxicology results.

Those toxicology results and the cause of death, however, are not being made public yet to aid in the investigation.

“The premature public disclosure of Cass’s cause of death could have an impact on the integrity of the investigation in a negative manner,” said Granite State AG Michael A. Delaney. “The investigation into the facts and circumstances of Celina Cass’s murder remains active.”

And since the girl was found dead, Louisa Cass’ 9-month-old marriage to Wendell Noyes has crumbled. Noyes suffered a medical breakdown after Celina’s death and is receiving medical care in Berlin, N.H., according to relatives.

I wonder if there is some key evidence in this case that hasn’t been revealed to the public. This case seemed like one that would be solved quickly … but obviously it hasn’t.

The publicly available evidence suggests that she was poisoned or overdosed. This is not the type of death I would expect from a stranger.

I suspect we won’t receive any significant information until an arrest is made.

  39. Riverpearl says:

With the recent statement “Those toxicology results and the cause of death, however, are not being made public yet to aid in the investigation.”, leads one to wonder IF LE is looking out for multiple perps -or- main perp w/helper/s after the murder …

With no release of tox and/or cause of death they seemed to be joined but unique that links to perp/s in some way …

It is also of note LE is NOT calling Celina’s death “an isolated incident”. Which since the town her death happen in is so small, one can see WHY the $32+K reward is still in place. IMO it is there dangling like a carrot for ‘accomplice/s’ to claim.

IMO if I was living there I would be hypervigilant. Especially w/LE giving out zero info.

Unfortunately ALL women and girls must be vigilant at all times. In looking at the missing/homicides in NH/VT I was astounded!! There are Literaly 100′s unsolved and more that have been committed with little or no answers–so I’m sorry to say I have little faith that Ms Cass’s killer will be caught. I’ll go out ona limb and say that the stepdad may have problems. However, If their was a shread of evidence against him, he would be charged. Serial killers–yes I said the ‘s’ word, have been known to have mental issues. But are not as defined by our laws as mentally impaired. They are intellegent and some very organized and cunning. I believe the athorities are looking for a break. As for the 30,000 reward–if people were given more information maybe, just one additional set of eyes may have seen somthing very important and not even realize it. Little information breeds speculation. Yes, I understand the need for withholding some information–but another approach is in order here before 20 years go by and the names of missing/murdered women rise. RIP to all those unaccounted for…

AG hopes interview with Celina Cass’ stepdad sparks leads

The head of the murder probe in the Celina Cass case admitted authorities lack the proof they need to haul in a suspect or suspects, but she’s hopeful a television interview given by the 11-year-old girl’s thus-far-silent stepfather will shake loose some new leads.

“We have insufficient evidence to charge any person or persons in the death of Celina,” New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Jane Young said yesterday. “We are working this case. We are still working this case. I have talked to the investigators four or five times today.”

In a television interview broadcast Tuesday, Wendell Noyes, Celina’s 48-year-old stepfather, told local television station WMUR he “had nothing to do” with the girl’s murder. He said he believes an intruder is to blame.

“We left the door unlocked, and somebody else was in the apartment after we went upstairs,” he said.

“I had nothing to do with it. … I’ve got nothing to hide. I was cooperative from the start. I care and I’d like to know who … who’s responsible.”

Young would not say whether Noyes’ comments were consistent with statements he gave police. She also would not say whether investigators believe an intruder broke in and took the girl, who was last seen in her home about 9 p.m. July 25. Investigators found her body about a week later in the Connecticut River.

“I certainly understand the public safety factor,” Young said. “We’ve said from the beginning that
==>people should be vigilant and should be cautious.”<==

Investigators seized Noyes’ truck, cell phone and computer as evidence. Noyes still wears his wedding band but lives alone because Celina’s mother has asked him to stay away, he told WMUR.

“As much attention and as much focus that can stay on this case, that’s a positive thing,” she said. “Anything that can keep focus on this investigation, we find helpful.”

“I would just echo, if persons have any information, to please bring it forward to the police, even if it’s a small detail,” Young said. “Some (tips) have been useful, some have not been useful. And nobody knows. Nobody knows what piece may be useful to us.”

Celina Cass’ mother disputes husband’s story

COLEBROOK, N.H. — Celina Cass’ heartbroken mother is disputing her estranged husband’s account of the night the slain 11-year-old vanished, saying he wasn’t in bed early but instead was up drinking with friends at their West Stewartstown home.

“He was visiting on the porch with two friends. They were drinking on the porch. They were socializing,” Louisia Noyes said yesterday of Celina’s stepfather, Wendell Noyes. Louisia Noyes told a TV interviewer last month that she and her husband had split up since Celina’s killing.

Wendell Noyes — who has not been identified as a suspect in the homicide probe — said in his earlier TV interview he had nothing to do with Celina’s murder and believed an intruder was to blame.

Spotted yesterday at the family’s home, Wendell Noyes responded to a reporter’s questions saying: “I’m just waiting. I’m just waiting. I’m just doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”

Granite State investigators declined comment last night, but they told the Herald this week they don’t have enough evidence to make an arrest.

Yesterday, Louisia Noyes — who met with investigators last month on the day investigators determined Celina was killed — expressed a mother’s anger about her daughter’s unsolved slaying.

“It’s frustrating, haunting and unbearable,” she said. “I’m very frustrated because I don’t get any answers for my daughter’s murder.”

Wendell Noyes’ truck was one of two seized in the investigation. The other belonged to Kevin Mullaney, who was living with the family at the time of Celina’s death, the son of Louisia Noyes’ former boyfriend. Mullaney’s truck was released, Louisia Noyes said.

Mullaney declined to speak to a reporter yesterday, even as friends and family urged him to do so. Mullaney’s father said authorities have urged his son not to speak with media.

Louisia Noyes said Mullaney has cooperated with police. “He’s done a polygraph. He’s been strip-searched,” she said.

In her first sit-down interview since authorities determined Celina was killed, Louisia Noyes also revealed the girl’s body was in such a poor state that police would not allow her to see it — even after a funeral director’s restorative efforts.

Noyes also said police declined to show her the blanket found around Celina when police pulled her from the Connecticut River near her home Aug. 1.

“I asked if I could ID the blanket and see if it came from my house. They would only let me ID her pajama bottoms and her underwear,” she said.

There was no sign of a struggle in her home, she said, and if there was one, she didn’t hear it from her bedroom.

“I don’t know what happened,” she said. “If only I hadn’t had the fan or the TV on, I would have heard something.”

“I want justice and I want my baby back,” she said. “I want the person who did this to die. Someone threw her away like a piece of trash.”

Insanity Defense Likely for Levi Aron
    • Lawyers for Levi Aron, the man who confessed to killing and dismembering 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky, are likely formulating an insanity defense. According to hospital evaluations, Aron is “confused and apathetic with a ‘practically blank’ personality and schizophrenic tendencies.” (Aron’s sister died while she was institutionalized for schizophrenia.) In a court-ordered report, Aron has been determined fit to
    stand trial. [NYP]

Psych Exam Finds Man Accused of Killing Brooklyn Boy Has Personality Disorder

Levi Aron, the hardware store clerk charged with murdering an 8-year-old Brooklyn boy, has a personality disorder, according to a psychiatric evaluation.

The evaluation, which depicted the accused murderer as being “flat” and “apathetic,” was first obtained by the Associated Press and later confirmed to WNYC by Aron’s attorney.

Aron, 35, was ordered to undergo the evaluation after pleading not guilty to kidnapping and murder, claiming he heard voices. He was later found fit to stand trial.

Bazile told the Associated Press that he was investigating whether Aron’s mental disorders were severe enough to win in court with an argument of “not guilty by reason of mental disease or mental defect threshold.”

According to the Associated Press, psychiatrists reported that since the arrest, Aron has had bad dreams and trouble “‘realizing what happened.”

Leiby Kletzky killer Levi Aron won’t apologize for brutal slaughter, calls murder ‘the incident’

Levi Aron says he has a hard time talking about the day he chopped up a lost little boy who came to him for help.

“It hurts too much to think about it,” the accused Butcher of Borough Park said in an exclusive Daily News interview – his first with any news organization since the July 11 murder that sickened the city.

“I don’t know what happened,” Aron said. “I just panicked.”

Asked repeatedly if he wanted to apologize, the confessed child killer kept looking away and remained silent. At one point, he nodded his head, but would not say he was sorry.

Told that many people are utterly baffled by his actions, Aron would not – or could not – explain why he took and kept the boy.

“He looked familiar. I thought I knew him,” he said.

Aron has been found fit to stand trial, though shrinks say that he may be teetering on the edge of schizophrenia

“I sometimes hear voices,” he told The News, but refused to describe them or relay what they told him.

During the interview, Aron chatted almost normally about mundane issues but started to clam up when asked about the murder.

He is being held in a Rikers Island infirmary on a round-the-clock suicide watch. He leaves his cell only to shower. He hasn’t spoken to his family since his arrest July 13.

Mostly, he said, “I stay in bed.”

Asked if he wished he had never met Leiby, Aron said, “Sometimes.”

    Levi Aron’s Interview from Rikers
Admitted murderer says he doesn’t know why he killed lost 8-year-old boy

In his first interview since confessing to the killing and dismembering of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky, Levi Aron told the New York Daily News he didn’t know why he abducted and murdered the lost Hasidic boy who asked him for directions.

Though he was deemed fit to stand trial, the 35-year-old is believed to have a psychiatric disorder and said he hears voices.

    From the interview:

“I don’t know what happened,” Aron said. “I just panicked.”

Asked repeatedly if he wanted to apologize, the confessed child killer kept looking away and remained silent. At one point, he nodded his head, but would not say he was sorry.

Aron wore a wrinkled gray jumpsuit with a hospital bracelet on his wrist and appeared lethargic during an hour-long interview at Rikers Island

Never saying Kletzky’s name and referring to the grisly murder only as “the incident,” Aron, who is on suicide watch in the prison infirmary, also said he hadn’t spoken to his family since the murder.

“Louisia Noyes said Mullaney has cooperated with police. “He’s done a polygraph. He’s been strip-searched,” she said.”

I am always hesitant to read to much into newspaper quotes, but the “strip search” statement was eye-raising. Maybe LE just patted him down looking for weapons and his mother misunderstood; but, it implies that they were looking for something specifically. Were there photos of men’s privates on the victims computer, or text messages describing specific male anatomy (tattoos, moles, birthmarks)? I can’t think of anything that would be found on the victim’s body which would lead to a strip search (if pubic hair was found, then a simple DNA test would be all that is needed – although they could have taken a pubic hair from Mullaly for completeness).

” “He was visiting on the porch with two friends. They were drinking on the porch. They were socializing,” Louisia Noyes said yesterday of Celina’s stepfather, Wendell Noyes. ”

Who were the two men? I have read of cases where girls were killed by their father’s “drinking buddies”. Maybe step-dad got drunk and passed out and the two men took advantage of the situation.

I believe it was also referring to a search for any possible wounding, and yes, likely harvesting of pubic body and head hair for comparisons.
