The Jennifer Kesse Case: Six Years of Fears, Tears and Degrees Heat Up The Hunt

Last evening, 6 Years ago at 10:40 PM, Jennifer Kesse’s cell phone battery was removed.

Experts from the newly formed SMART panel concur it was likely removed by the person or persons responsible for her disappearance.

As chronicled in an expose  last week by www.blinkoncrime.com,  current leads are pointing to further investigation of Jennifer’s professional associations and colleagues at Central Florida Investments.

On November 15, 2005, Jennifer’s promotion to Manager of Mortgage Process Engineering  was announced.

Kesse Family Photo

While there is no known indication her responsibilities included corporate real estate acquisition and divestitures, www.blinkoncrime.com’s investigation into her disappearance has uncovered a very notable corporate transaction worthy of a  Made-off* award.

Is this the meeting Jennifer missed that prompted the call by a colleague to her Mother Joyce?

The very morning Jennifer disappeared,  under the direction of CFI’s CEO-  David Siegel- the company sold an undeveloped parcel of commercial land for 4.7million dollars on GrandNational Drive .  The financing agreement was finalized on January 24th and the sales contracts were signed two days later.

Joyce , Don & Associates agreed to pay interest-only installments of 10% on the 4.2million balance monthly until the third year anniversary; at which time a balloon payment for the entire remaining amount was due and payable.  That is like the zeppelin of balloons in commercial real estate without so much as a plat plan or wetland study.

Who agreed to fund the acquisition for JD&A?  Central Florida Investments.

Why CFI would to carry that amount of debt with no “win” on the balance sheet at the start of the decline in home sales leading to lack of funds for time shares, I have no idea.  Why CFI would agree to such a proposal without appropriate due diligence is the next head scratcher.  As the new process improvement specialist- did this come under Jennifer Kesse’s review?

Joy, Don & Associates was the latest brainchild of Osmond Decoteau, and Donna Rachael Daniels.

The short version:  After the dirty duo bought up 2 remaining parcels on International Drive they did not have funds for, Decoteau & Daniels were indicted in 2008 for wire fraud.   Both were accused of bilking investors, landowners and residents of over $20million dollars for properties in Brooklyn, California and Florida.

What started out as the slum-lord version of ponzi worked so well the Trinidad native decided to migrate South and rip off wealthier folks in a warmer climate.  Makes sense if the villagers are crossing the Brooklyn bridge  with torches and  you have been unsuccessful in selling it thus far.

Decoteau is currently in Federal prison awaiting an order for the govt to forcibly medicate him to be competent to stand trial.

Bernie Madoff walks past his cell and mutters “underachieving slacker” under his breathe on his way to Canasta in the rec lounge.

Daniels is free on a $500K bond and is believed to be cooperating with prosecutors.  An unsuccessful hand-written bankruptcy filing was dismissed.  Deconteau set up his family members to buy the property at a loss under the now defunct  Ambeeka  Holding Corp.

In the end CFI got the property back by default.

Members of Decoteau’s extended family also own a timeshare in Westgate’s Sand Lake Resort; the sale of which was processed during Jennifer’s tenure at CFI.

NOT THE VALET

Just about the same time Jenn’s enrapt co-worker Johnny Campos arrives at the CFI offices in Ocoee, the mystery suspect , the only named suspect in her disappearance to date, is parking her car next to the pool at the Huntington On The Green apartments.

He pulls in, quickly reverses and straightens the wheel, waits about 32 seconds and makes his way past 3 separately angled security cameras making no attempt to hide his appearance.

Theories abound about his attire.  Cook, painter, security patrol, bike runner or messenger.

New leads acquired in Jennifer’s case by www.blinkoncrime.com have presented a new possibility.

Is the video a break or a bumper?  We are talking cricket-speak.

While it is not known if she was alone or with a friend,  Jennifer visited the Cricketers Arms 2 month prior to her disappearance.

Could the man parking Jennifer’s car at noon on January 24th, 2006 be wearing a cricket uniform?

Left Image Surveillance Footage

Cricket is a major fave among the younger Euro-set in Orlando as well as the pub named in their honor- The Cricketers Arms.  In 2006 “Cricketers” was located on Industrial Drive and recently re-opened on W. Sand Lake Rd, adjacent to the Sand Lake Resorts owned by Westgate.

Blink, do you discount the information that Mr. Keese described the towel in Jennifer’s bathroom as being “damp” when they arrived, which may indicate the time she left may have been closer to the AM? I would assume no one used Jennifer’s shower AFTER she left, or they would have been aware she was not present.

Also, do you know if the white substance indicated in the following photo in Jennifer’s car was ever identified?

I have read reference to it possibly being dried water-based building material commonly used in construction applications, or paint splatter. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Cat-

Drew maintains that a towel was damp and draped on the dryer when they got there. For all I know Jenn put that on her head on the way in the door- there was rain that day, or she showered- I would not expect it to dry completely laying on the dryer, imo.

The white powder is fingerprint powder dust, as you can see, white was used to establish contrast as appropriate, and very little lift marks.

Cat, I mentioned the damp towel previously, and drew told me that himself.

The white substance you are seeing is residue from latent processing.

While the cricket player theory is popular with a lot of posters, I can’t help but feel that it’s not right. It’s been said that the “valet” could have worked for a local car detailer, could be a non-English speaking individual, could be an illegal immigrant. I’m leaning towards this profile. I’ll also add to it: day laborer. My reasons (aside from the characteristics previously discussed on the message board and the reasoning for those ideas) involves the hair and the clothing.

I don’t believe the “valet” is wearing a hat, let alone a cricket hat. I think that the dark mass on top of his head is simply his hair– I think it’s cut into a version of a “bowl cut” with the rest shaved close, and I think the thickness is due to the thickness/fullness of his hair. The following description is from a webpage which describes the hair of latin american men as being “characteristically dark color, coarse texture and thickness”.

I live in an area with a lot of recent Latino immigrants and I see some mildly-crazy hairstyles on the younger men (late teens to 20s). I’ve hesitated to bring this up before in our discussion because I didn’t want to sound like I’m racially profiling or pigeon-holing anyone, but if we’re considering that the “valet” could be illegal, a non-English speaker, etc., then I suppose it’s worth sharing what I’ve observed about hair. I had a really difficult time finding any pictures of the hairstyles I’ve seen in my neighborhood, but have compiled a list of links to images [below] that sort of illustrate what I’m talking about.

I also think that the outfit could very easily be that of a day laborer, a construction worker, or a landscaper. I think that khaki pants (or other light colored construction/work-man pants), a white t-shirt, and a pair of boots or sneakers is a standard outfit for these types of workers. If working outside, light colors will reflect some of the sun’s rays and will help the individual stay cooler in the Florida heat. Plus, a simple white undershirt from Walmart is an inexpensive work shirt. I Googled “day laborer” for images and found several showing men in khakis and white t-shirts. One, while wearing a different outfit, looks like he is wearing “skater shoes” similar to those Blink pictured in her article.

Wonder if it’s believable the height description FBI chose to put out regarding the poi. Jennifer is 5’8. I just don’t see somebody shorter or smaller than her overpowering her without use of constrictive means, ie rag, cuffs, taser, etc. If cuffs or taser were used, she’d possible have screamed. Taken by surprise with a rag over her face would render her unconscious. Strangulation could be close to silent but she could have struggled as far as clawing & kicking. There were only 3 other condos being occupied in her building at the time of her disappearance. If there were a squatter in her complex, chances are that squatter utilized other construction projects as well. I wonder if le checked out the other projects going on.

This guy Campos seems sketchy with wanting “Adam Frank” to drive him to the other office. Just the wording alone makes one wonder. Jeesh, right smack center of the Oak Ridge area, the demographic is iffy & there’s apparent crime as in any metro, but could that be his cover? Maybe it’s somebody else that works for them but it doesn’t explain Campos’ story regarding his car or needing an employee to drive him from Ocoee to Lake Ellenor. If it were that important, couldn’t he have used a company shuttle or taxi? Doesn’t make sense. Then to ask about his employee’s brother’s empty condo. This guy just seems sketchy. Could somebody be framing him? I don’t think so bc ya still can’t get away from his car story discrepancy. Blink, with you obtaining those docs regarding his car, that’s pertinent. Do you know if the FBI has anything to say regarding the latest developments?

The FBI has no standing in this case any longer, they only ever participated to the extent they reviewed the case and provided recommendations. I better hope OPD knows/knew he reported the car stolen.

    B

  5. Rose says:

are you alluding there might have been forensic evidence in that car, a motivation to recycle it?

Which car please? If you mean Campos all I can say with certainty is that it was reported stolen and that he told co-workers a lie about it being destroyed in an accident. It was located by a VIN search via his insurance company and found scrapped in Orlando.
    B

  6. Black Pearl says:

Regarding the hat, you said that the brim hits the shot before he does– is this when he enters the screen from the left? I don’t have any special film/video viewing software, so I may have to concede on that point, but I observe three points at which the valet is visible– behind the left gate post, behind the right gate post and then behind a small tree. At which point– or is there another– do you see the brim of the hat?

Also, I don’t know if you can answer this, but at what point did JC report his car stolen? Did he report it stolen and it was “found” totaled? Or was the car being stolen and the totaling of it two separate incidences? I’m trying to figure out what the stolen car report was intended to excuse/confuse… Was it “stolen” during a time, location, or route that he didn’t want himself associated with– and that people might have observed the car traveling? Or was the car totaled while it was “stolen” to allow JC to collect as much insurance money as possible…since the accident wouldn’t be his fault if it occurred while stolen.

Ugh. I just want answers for all these women.

Not in an accident, was reported stolen with no other information.

Blink: “On this one, I think more than 2 people know what happened, and I think they have friends that have been known to make friends and control events. AND.. nobody is crossing them until they have a compelling reason to save their own asses, imo.”

Totally agree. Including Campos. Does he know he has been mentioned all over this site? I think once the gate starts closing on the right people and their freedom is looking less and less secure – they will break. Just hope the “right” people don’t flee…

Mr. Campos is acutely aware of his scrutiny in the disappearance of Jennifer Kesse.

    Someone’s not reading :)

#2226 parking spaces was located to the rear of the building which allowed those familiar with the complex to access the back entrance, which was not enclosed due to the construction.

Jennifer used the front entrance* that evening when returning from work to pick up her mail on the way in.

There was no sign of any foul play in either the exterior or interior of Jenn’s car.

Found on the floor of the front passenger side of her car were the flip flops she wore home from work that afternoon as well as a pair she wore in St. Croix.* Also found* were aspirin, her mail key, a business card, her sunglasses and cell charger (not plugged in and wrapped around the gear shift).

Oh I’m reading, I’ve done so much reading, going back and forth, Alot of info to sort through. I’m getting a migraine, but don’t seem to want to stop reading. It appeared to be 2 different pills(both aspirin), nothing in car “stolen” so it does appear to be more like an innocent person (non- criminal, thief, drug addict) just dropping car off. It would appear that if it were a car jacking situation, that at least the sunglasses/pills would have been stolen.(If you werent sure they were aspirin)

Not without a name and DOB, and even then the family has a few surnames wrt siblings.

Mr. Campos is a Costa Rican National if that helps
    B

  16. Titch says:

Even though his car was scrapped, couldn’t it be retrieved and still go through forensics, even if a team has to cut inch by inch? Even if that car is in a block squished square, unless it’s melted down I don’t see how le can’t obtain it to investigate it. Furthermore, maybe pressure should be on the FBI to reacquaintthemselves with this case considering all the original blunders in the beginning with the OPD. No offense against the new chief but seriously now how can they be trusted on the larger scale considering the implications?

Donnie Griffen – (the guy you’re referring to) they look so much alike that they very well could be relatives, even brothers. Campos is a popular name though so it’s hard to track without verifiable background checks. Sites like Veromi aren’t always factual with the potential relative lists. Do you have access to full background checks? I searched mugshots and see the guy you’re referencing.

The Segals remind me of the Clampets. I tell my son all the time when he thinks he’s cool & tries to put these big gaudy fake diamonds in his ears – “Dude, you can have all the money in the world but still lack class. Act with dignity, share with pride & selflessness, show respect for yourself by being educated – make a difference, a positive difference in this world. The greatest compliment somebody could pay you is to aspire to emulate you.” having said that, there’s no wat on God’s green Earth I’d ever wanna be a Segal, not ever. Nothing about them is real.

Name is Leonardo Eduardo Campos. DOB is 06/30/71. Currently housed at Glades County Detention Center on an immigration hold. He was arrested by Apopka PD (Apopka being a stones throw away from Ocoee) on 09/21/11 for failure to appear. Leonardo also a history of domestic violence it seems.

I am not seeing him within the Florida offender system at all, but I do see his case and the charges stemming from a DUI and his bond. If he is on an INS hold after that checkered past, I would venture a guess he has an alias and/or did not present ID causing this until they can verify.

I can’t say definitively he is a Campos relative, but I found him associated with Mr. Campos in early searches, so…

I hit submit too fast. The reason I said that is bc the seem so detached from reality. When people are like that, they don’t care about “real” life problems. Old man Segal says it himself that he gets up & works out, then works his empire from morning til night. He knows where his money goes. His money is his everything. That fraud stuff they were being investigated for – betcha he knew all along. You don’t get that big without having a tight reign on all facets of your conpany. Nada.

Since he claims he helped Bush get elected, I wonder who else he backs. Might be worth looking into his public political contributions and what extra educational funds he supports as well.

  23. Donnie Griffin says:

@Titch…I don’t have access to full background checks. You are correct in these two look alike. Both from Costa Rica, and from the looks of Leonardo’s last 6-7 years here in Central Fl., it’s been full of turmoil. Domestic violence, Battery, DUI, divorce and so on. Now, he’s hung up in a South Florida jail. Could he be turning a shade of yellow canary and starting to sing?

This is all getting more complex and as I sit here rubbing my temples it’s making more sense that whatever happened to Jennifer began in evening darkness and not the light of morning.

This is what has gnawed at me from day one. It is not an easy thing to teach ones self, especially someone like me who falls under the “blink” practice of processing information, but when clues and evidence are not leading in a direction where verified information “lives” we have to shake the kaleidescope.

I think Joyce Kesse did an artful job explaining it at the presser January 18th. She compared the ongoing investigation to getting up from the table where you are putting together a puzzle, and looking at it from different angles by changing seats.

Fwiw, I was told the other day the original detectives in this case believed what happened to Jennifer occurred the evening of the 23rd and it was considered dubious at best

I am put in the humble position of asking y’all to keep changing seats at the table for Jennifer Kesse and her loving family. I know I will as necessary.

  28. A Texas Grandfather says:

The discussion about the VIN information did not cover the fact that there is a subscription service available to all LE agencies that covers the VIN information for all makes of vehicles sold in the USA.
This VIN information covers everything by description and part number that was placed on the vehicle at the factory. The only additional information that a dealer would have are items installed at the dealership at the time of purchase.

This service has been around for a very long time. It is updated monthly by a download from a central site via a secure internet connection or by having a set of CD’s or DVD’s mailed to a LE location and physically updated on their network system.

Now the question is, did OPD have a subscription to this service?

Jennifer’s chevy has at least four computers onboard and may have an operating recorder device “black box” that could have been read-out by the mechanics at a dealership or the mechanics at the city shops. There was probably no GPS device on the vehicle. If there were, it would record for a 24 hour period.

The problem with this LE agency is they were backwards, incompetent and lazy from top to bottom.

The next thing we should all learn to help young women in particular to be safe is the following:

    1. Do NOT purchase a condo and move in while any part of it is under construction.

    2. Determine the security system including who has a master key to your building and if they allow a purchaser to install their own locks. If you cannot control the locks, look elsewhere to buy.

    3. Spend the money to have a security expert evaluate the safety and security system in place and provide a report.

Excellent Questions ATG, I can answer a few- No black box, no GPS, and her onboard “plug in” showed the car was operating just fine.

Yes, LE has the database specific components are licensed to LE, and my resources also use them, I am not naming them because i will not endorse any particular db. They can all have ommissions or errors and there are not very good engines to co-mingle state and Federal activities as you know.

Fiesty and very true points on OPD.

    Morning, Blink and everyone.

Wondering how long toll-road records are kept and if they are a business expense one might claim on their income tax forms which would require a copy of the filing year’s toll record.

Blink, have toll-road records been looked into for Jennifer and others?

Yes, I know she did not have a sun pass (ezpass in NJ) and any work travel was infrequent if at all. Most meetings took place at her office. Her route to work did not require tolls.

So if the current investigation warrants it, SunPass records could be obtained via subpeona for other individuals who DID use toll-routes, dependent on how long these records are kept, stored in a database . . .

I assume their retention is 7 years, but I have many friend, colleagues and have interviewed some “shady types” in that area and I can tell you they KNOW how to travel if necessary to avoid tolls.

Going back to bed. Will refrain from posting until off all cold meds ! :-) Toooooooo foggy and tired. if going off in wrong tangent about, just refrain from posting, please.

  44. Titch says:

I just thought of something else…

    Two things:

    1) Jennifer’s parents called the management at the Mosaic to go check on Jennifer bc they were worried about her, she failed to show up at work the morning of the 24th which required her attendance for an important meeting. They advised her car wasn’t in her assigned parking spot. The entered her apartment & advised nothing out of order, yada yada. Well, how many “Master Keys” are there? When the keys were stolen, how could they have made new master keys for all of the 400+ condos?

    2) The video showing the poi valet parking Jennifer’s car at HOTG was around noon – 1:00, give or take a discrepancy in the surveillance camera’s time. That would mean the valet was parking Jenn’s car at the exact moment that Jenn’s mom called the Mosaic and the Mosaic’s management went looking for her. How coincidental is that?

I remember reading that the Mosaic’s gate used to stay up during their “redecorating” and new construction, they didn’t have security cameras or 24 hr surveillance. The security cameras and new security were added two weeks after Jennifer’s disappearance. Hmmm…

  45. marnie says:

i feel like looking at this from different perspectives is exactly what we are doing – and it only makes it more confusing and sends us off in other directions. how much of this drama is actually relevant to whatever happened to jenn? what i mean is, are all these shady characters and business dealings the reason for her dissapearance? or is it just a backdrop in what is basically ” a crime of passion”? or something else?

looking forward to today’s updates and podcast.

  46. Cindy says:

Okay, I’m changing seats as suggested. What, if anything, did JC have to lose by Jenn being in the picture? Could she have said to him that she’d call his wife if he didn’t back off? (It’s plausible I know someone that this happened to.) Or something more work related?

Just a note that the changing seats reference was something I felt needed to be done going into this case if it were to progress. I do feel it has momentum and Jennifer will be found.

I am going to have to back off my earlier optimistic view that we will be ready to update prior to tonight’s show, so sorry about that, but such is the way of an open case.

because of the construction crew,i often think of this case :The 40-year old Shelly was found dead at approximately 5:45 p.m on November 1, 2006. Her husband, Andrew Ostroy, found her hanging by a bed sheet[14] from a shower rod in the bathtub[12] of the Abingdon Square apartment in Manhattan’s West Village that Shelly used as an office.[12] It initially appeared to be a suicide.[14] Ostroy had dropped her off at 9:30 a.m. that day, and as the building’s doorman told journalists that he had accompanied Ostroy at his behest after Ostroy had not heard from Shelley that day. Upon reaching the apartment, they found that the front door was unlocked.[12]

An autopsy was performed the following day. The New York City Police Department was suspicious of sneaker prints in the bathtub that did not match Shelly’s shoes (she was found wearing only socks). Shelly’s husband also indicated that there was money missing from Shelly’s wallet. He denied allegations that she would have committed suicide.[15]

Press reports on November 6, 2006 stated that police had arrested construction worker Diego Pillco, a 19-year-old Ecuadorian undocumented immigrant[16] who confessed to killing Shelly after she complained about the noise he was making in the apartment below hers. Pillco said that he “was having a bad day”.[16] Police said Pillco had made a taped confession implicating himself in the murder.[17][18]

Diego Pillco entered his guilty plea on February 14, 2008. He said that, contrary to his original story, Shelly had not complained about noise, but had in fact caught him stealing money from her purse after he slipped unnoticed into the apartment. When she tried to call the police, he grabbed the phone and covered her mouth as she began to scream. After Shelly fell, Pillco tied a bed sheet around her neck and decided to strangle her. Originally, Pillco claimed he didn’t know Shelly was still alive when he hanged her, but in court he admitted to choking her with a sheet, tying it around her neck and stringing her up to make it look like she committed suicide.[19] The medical examiner determined that Shelly was still alive when hanged.[20] Pillco was sentenced to 25 years in prison without parole on March 6, 2008.[21]

adrienne shelly, new york city,i wasnt aware of the update in confession,(might should post this on wm3,shows how a confession can change and be a lie)i was always wondering, how he murdered her in the downstairs and got her upstairs with no one seeing or hearing ,or no evidence left, and cleaned up so well, now it makes sense ,it happened in her apartment. the lawsuit is why i posted this: Shelly’s husband sued contractor, Bradford General Contractors, which had hired Pillco.[23] The complaint alleged that Shelly would still be alive if the contracting firm had not hired Pillco.[23] Ostroy also sought to hold the owners and management of the building liable for Shelley’s murder.[23] According to a New York Post article, among other allegations, the complaint stated that “‘Pillco was an undocumented immigrant…’ as were his co-workers,[23] and that “it was in Bradford General Contractors’ interest not to have ‘police and immigration officials [called] to the job site’ because that would have ground their work to a halt”.[23] On July 7, 2011, the lawsuit was dismissed by Judge Louis York.

here’s another thing that’s been buggin me – but, i don’t know what’s been looked into and discounted…

anyway, jenn’s car was left in ft lauderdale while they were on vacation. was it at rob’s? or the airport?

it just seems JC knew enough about her bf to call him names and try to get her away from him. did he know he lives in ft lauderdale and she went there on weekends? just wondering if when he found out she was on vacation, if he called his miami connections to go spy. he supposedly found out on a friday? anyway, he would have had the entire weekend for someone to do drivebys. there would have been no activity at rob’s until sunday night.

just wondering why he was so incensed on monday morning and demanding to know where she was. and if he already had “help” with his problem with jenn.

@susanm – i remember that case, but never heard the update either!

looking at jenn’s case, i go back and forth between construction workers and/or the condo, and her work associates.
