Isabel Celis Abduction BREAKING NEWS: Docs Show Blood In Bedroom Police Eye Family AND Neighbor

*LIVE TONIGHT On THE DANA PRETZER SHOW Blink Discusses The Isabel Celis Case*

Clink To Listen

After 550 plus pages of what amounts to discovery in a likely criminal case, Friday afternoon yielded a window to the world of the investigation of missing 6 year old Isabel Mercedes Celis.

Isa, according to the document release consisting of 6 packets of PDF files of police incident and timesheet reports  was last seen by her Father who kissed her goodnight and dimmed her bedroom light after showering and braiding of her hair by her Mother Becky in anticipation of her baseball game the next morning with the Diamondbacks.

Isabel’s baseball Jersey number is #4.

The “goodnight kiss” was the first time the public has heard the actual version in his words containing the account that he was the last person to see Isabel before her disappearance as well as confirm that her window was closed when he closed the door.

Certainly not unexpected to hear a loving father’s tender goodnight detail to his baby girl, but most unexpected was the revelation that on Isabel’s bedroom floor was an obvious area of blood.

While it has not been disclosed whose blood was located on the floor of the southeast middle bedroom located on E 12th St, Sergio and Becky Celis were required to provide blood samples under a warrant obtained a few days later.

The Usual Suspects- FAMILY

It is clear from the released reports that a significant amount of time and effort has been spent on investigation of Sergio Celis and Becky’s brothers Bob Rodriguez and Justin Mastromarino as previously reported on www.blinkoncrime.com   Mastromarino’s own niece Chelsea and her fiancée Danny Cline told a shoe salesperson and subsequently investigators that they believe he is a drug dealer and owes someone a great deal of money and Isa was taken for some purpose to satisfy that debt.

A truck owned by Bob Rodriguez  was removed by warrant from in front of the Celis home without warning and a towel which tested negative for blood but reacted to luminol was taken into evidence as well as a pocket knife from its contents.

Blood evidence was found in the driver’s seat of the Toyota Corolla mostly driven by Sergio Celis and the red inoperable Acura as well as a stained shower curtain and white hat.  Keeping in mind, Tucson PD released some documents that are heavily redacted as they are required via a freedom of information act request, by any standard; the completeness of the response teams and first responders to the scene and the surroundings was swift and MASSIVE.

Exactly one week earlier on April 13th, Sergio Celis received several criminal citations to include dogs running at large, without proper vaccinations and licenses.   Celis pled not guilty during an arraignment on April 26th and is due back in court on June 4th.

At the risk of inserting a glib remark in the middle of such a macabre subject matter- Who let The Dogs Out?  Who, Who Who?

Who prompted the report to Tucson City Police in the first place?  Was someone attempting to have the animals removed from the residence a week earlier?

Do all the dogs belong to the Celis’s or are they housing them for a family member who now lives in an apartment and cannot keep a pet?

Perhaps this is an indication that what looks to be a fortified and nearly impenetrable without detection abode is, well, not so much.  In a video of Isabel singing and dancing to an Abba song (undated but presumed recent) it is clear that the living room window, which shares the same outside wall as the window next to it separated by the interior wall Sergio references in his 911 call, is clearly open.

Celis LR Open BOC

On May 11, citing a previous CPS involvement in December of 2011 and “to provide time and distance” between Sergio and his two sons,  Sergio Celis voluntarily agreed to a no contact order after a CPS meeting which was instigated by the detectives working on Isabel’s case- due to “information they learned in the course of the investigation” into Isabel’s disappearance.

What prompted the concerns exactly has not been made public and the order remains in effect.  Becky Celis and Sergio’s sister refuted any allegations that Mr. Celis was anything but a model dog owner, Father and Husband at a public vigil for Isabel.

No doubt Sergio Celis’s use of the word abducted and his inappropriate lack of hysteria during the 911 call has made him a defacto suspect if only in the minds,  thoughts… and blogs of those following Isabel’s case.

It is not the only oddity.  During his first interview at the scene with police,  Sergio states he is aware of the registered sex offender down the street, he knows him, and he does not believe him to be involved.

Is that a natural response of a parent who has knowledge of the sex offender status of a neighbor when he has just learned his child is missing?

That said,  in the interviews of Sergio Celis’s employers who have known him for several years, he was found to be an exemplary employee, model husband and family man whose advice one dental surgeon sought often for his own personal situation.

It is standard protocol for detectives to conduct a parallel investigation of the victims family,  in this case where a 6 year old child seemingly disappears from the window of her bedroom sometime between midnight and 6:30AM,  with three dogs on the premises,  a stranger abduction within the walls of what looks like a mini Alamo replica defies statistics and logic.

Or Does it?

Neighborly Concern

Matching footprints in the soft dirt around a green electric box along the south wall of the Celis home,  on the top of the electric box and on a gas meter box – all along on the southeast perimeter of the wall leading to the alley ( S. Jefferson and E. Cooper) were found by a first response mobile team member and described as “wolverine” pattern as opposed to standard police issue work boots.

Alicia Sturdevant, the infamous neighbor lady who heard male voices outside Isabel’s window as well as barking dogs at 6:28 AM the morning of her disappearance,  gave that account in her first interview adding to her credibility of a fresh witness account.   Someone posting from another neighbor’s face book account  belonging to a Chris Pike, an adult child sibling to a playmate of the Celis children seems to think Ms. Sturtevant’s account is untrue,  but has not specified why.

By  approximately 8:30AM the morning of Saturday April 21, Tucson Police Department has been on scene for several minutes, has completed initial interviews with the family, incident command has been established and officers begin the immediate knock and talk canvases in the hopes of finding Isabel, or information useful to locating her.

They begin next door and proceed door to door,  upon reaching the home of Michael Dimitriov, who informs the officer that he is a RSO, one officer is requested to wait there for a detective interview, and requests to search the home and cars.

At approximately 8:40 Officer Bustamonte  is greeted at the door by Alicia Gregory.  She states she and her boyfriend went to bed at midnight but heard nothing unusual.  According to the officer’s notes,  he only speaks to Alicia, in fact, he spells her boyfriend’s  name phonetically as he heard her say it: Nathan McDonell.

Mr. Nathan McDonald is not at the residence.

Officer Robinson is then directed to go to Freedom Park to continue search efforts for Isabel, as her team was playing the baseball game scheduled for that morning in her absence.   Upon arrival, it was learned that  only Isabel’s coach had been informed that she was missing during an earlier call from Sergio Celis.

As Robinson is circling back to receive further assignments in continuing efforts to find Isa,  he is tasked with keeping track of vehicles leaving the immediate neighborhood of 12th and Van Buren and notes a green Jetta GLS parked to the East of Craycroft on E. 14th St.  After running  it’s plates to learn it is registered to a Nathan Patrick McDonald, resident of E. 12th St ., the officer informs Sgt. Dana, incident commander.  A redacted portion of the conversation appears in the report.

Nates Isa Excursion

This occurs at 10:15AM.  Between 10:15 and 10:35, the officer observes McDonald emerge from the South end of the Wilshire Park field,  carrying a large maglite.  McDonald crosses through the middle of the field and when he reaches his vehicle,  the officer approaches and  McDonald confirms that the green Jetta is his vehicle.  He tells him he had heard about the missing girl and was out searching tunnels and washes to the north and south where he found nothing.

McDonald “abruptly” informs the officer he must leave to go home to EAT BREAKFAST and leaves the area in his vehicle.  BASTA  informs ALL  radio contact assigned of his exchange with the subject and a call to other officers on duty with orders to record all vehicles,  including taking images of all vehicles currently parked on E. 12th st .

By 10:45AM all are instructed to stop, log plate and driver info and request consent search every vehicle coming in or out of the area.

Chris Lutzelberger, a resident of S. Essex St who likely observed the exchange between  McDonald and the officer,  asked him what all the police presence in the neighborhood was about.

Lutzelberger informed Robinson him  that a man matching McDonald’s description was sitting on an electrical box located behind his residence earlier that morning from approximately 9AM-9:30Am at which time he told the individual to leave.

By 11AM, as security was requested by another officer at 11:23AM, a wash no more than 50 yards from where McDonald entered the south end of the park yielded a sheet, bed skirt, and a bag of clothes that were processed at the scene and taken into evidence.

A warrant was secured hours later at the McDonald/Gregory home on E. 12th St.  Taken into evidence was a shoeprint on landscaping “fabric” from the backyard.  Shoeprints were now collected on 3 other surface areas.

    Mom 3.0,

    The difference between us is that you see a negative comment where none is. I have not posted a negative comment about Mr. McDonald. Not feeding into someones deception and nonsense is not negative. Its like seeing the glass half full or have half empty!

    The problem in my mind wasn’t that Peter didn’t post acknowledge or ask permission from Blink but that once she brought it to his attention he insulted her instead of apologizing to her and correcting his mistake.

    I had a problem with Peter about a year ago when he posted a wrong name. I brought it to his attention twice with links but no response. There are a lot of things about Peter’s blog that bother me but he is good at Statement Analysis. I took a break from his blog because his emotions run high at times. It was bothersome to read and Mark McClish is calm with a great sense of humor. I am as perplexed with Peter as I am Nathan. They are both men who do not want to take responsibility for their own actions! I still read Peter’s analysis…when he is analyzing.

    Peter did not analyze or post the letter from the Tuscon Police Dept. I am perplexed at his headline which has nothing to do with the letter, his failure to mention his own analysis of Nathan McDonalds letter, and projecting it all on this site.

    This is not a negative comment about Peter it is just what I observe (fraction of). And it was not the first time I have given advice about reading Peter’s blog and where to learn Statement Analysis. He has had a lot of good people write him saying they were never going to read him again and is left with mostly the emotionally challenged and it becomes more like the jerry Springer Show!

    What you don’t seem to understand about Statement Analysis is that it is an investigative tool. It should not be the determination for guilt or innocence. But used to ask questions about statements they have made. Nathan McDonald is deceptive. For what reason I do not know because he does not answer questions.

    Nathan McDonald had achieved what he claims was his desire to be in blogosphere obscurity but for some unknown reason he had to go on two different blogs and start posting again. Huh? Now you say he was only showing everyone his letter but he managed to answer a few questions??(Which have already been noted for their deception!)

    I wonder why you fell so compelled to defend Nathan McDonald for what are circumstances he has clearly brought on himself?

    I still think the easiest thing for the police to do would have been to say he was not a suspect. They didn’t. I doubt the police read the comments to determine whether they were “negative” and undeserved.

    If Nathan McDonald was my brother he would never hear the end of it!

    I appreciate your differing opinion.

    You seem to put alot of stock into Statement analysis and You seem rather bothered by Peters 180.

    Perhaps you are taking the whole thing too personally?
    Perhaps you are feeling let down by Peter and you feel it reflects poorly on the art of Statement analysis?
    ********
    I’m inserting myself into this discussion, having previously decided not to respond to Mom 3.0′s recent lengthy comment to me on the same topic.

    Mom 3.0, my intent is not to turn this into a never-ending “positive” vs. “negative” posting debate. Lizzy does not need me to defend her. I do agree with her objective and factual response, and her observations about Mr. McDonald. I don’t find her remarks “too emotional” nor would I delve into what “bothers” her about Peter Hyatt. You went in that direction at some length when all she did was post a link.

    Mom 3.0, I am no closer to understanding why you have become a crusader for Mr. McDonald and his cause, but that is okay. Can we agree to disagree without trying to persuade? Your interpretation of the letter from LE is very different from mine. In no way do I regard that letter as a personal admonition that I can only post “positive” statements about Mr. McDonald. LE has not shut down the public’s right to comment; LE sent a personal letter (at his request), nothing more nor less.

    In concrete terms, what I am proposing is that I have the freedom to my opinion, subject to Blink’s approval. You possess the same freedom. As you re-affirmed to me, no one has been officially cleared as a suspect in Isabel Celis’s disappearance. Mr. McDonald’s actions and statements following her disappearance were made public. Blink has offered Mr. McDonald the courtesy of posting at great length here on her blog. I have read all of his statements, pondered, researched, and formulated opinions. IMO, your recent comments on this topic are coming across as veiled attempts to control the content of conversation, i.e., no “negative” statements allowed re Nathan McDonald because the police said so.

    Thank you for your point of view. I am not attempting to change or persuade your viewpoint. Please allow me…and others…the same courtesy.

    Excellent observation, Lizzy. Adjectives such as “positive” and “negative” are subjective in situations like this. I think they are too often confused with judging vs. condemning. We humans are endowed with intellect and reason, which we use to learn, formulate opinions and engage in critical thinking. Often people will use the negativity or “hating on someone” argument when they disagree with an opinion.

    Unfortunately, Nathan McDonald has used “negative press” to such an extent that I believe it’s possible LE mirrored his language in the letter he requested from them. If I were posting on Mr. McDonald’s personal blog or photobucket page or FB, he’s free to censor as he pleases in accordance with his agenda. I’m utilizing my First Amendment rights here on Blink and very grateful to do so.

    Blink, latest news is that Sergio & Rebecca spoke out…together again!…at a candelight vigil. Any comments?

    I do not see how I am confusing negative commentary for “the truth” Lizzy Goat What truth?

    What LEs letter states is Mr McDonald is underserving of any negative commentary whatsover meaning AT ALL NONE

    I dont see how your truth can trump LEs statement- because it is your truth LizzyGoat- not mine not LEs
    But yours-
    The only facts that I am aware of IRT Mr McDonald in terms of Isas case are- contained in the released Docs and in the LE letter that Mr.McDonald shared.
    Anything else is opinion, speculation, rumor, and theory period.

    You wrote:
    I was actually being considerate of Mr. McDonald when I used the word “form” letter what I was thinking is that it is a “pacifier”.

    LizzyGoat- I understand that you have questions and theories about why and how the letter came to be written and sent to Mr McDonald but they are only your theories.
    I for one do not think LE would take kindly to any DEMAND to write such a letter…nor would they take time away from investigating Isas abduction just to “pacify” anyone- with a “form” letter that goes so far as to commend him for his Good Samaritan efforts and apologizes for any negative attention and scrutiny nor do I think they would also add that they feel he is underserving of any negative commentary whatsoever…not for politics and not out of the goodness of their heart

    The truth here, seems to be LE did write such a letter to Mr McDonald- and I for one will not second guess them on why-they have their reasons. I will stand back and allow them to do their jobs.
    To continue to offer negative commentary whether you believe it to be “the Truth” or not is to not respect LE and in essence it is not doing our just duty to Isa or the investigation.

    But just for a moment step back and look at how easy it was for you to become embroiled into a he said she said discussion and debate with me. When I questioned your motivations you jumped into hyperdrive wanting to explain and to set the record straight- Its human nature to want to be understood to clear up misconceptions to clear the air…

    Mr McDonald tried to do the same thing, as you can see it can be a never ending battle- as noone can change anothers opinions if they hold tight to them especially when they do so regardless of facts.

    You wrote:

    Lizzygoat- Have you walked a mile in Mr. McDonalds shoes? How can you say that he has alot of unnecessary worry about “this issue” This issue is directly affecting him –
    First I would think he relives that morning over and over- can you imagine- seeing little Isas brother frantically asking you for help- can you imagine reliving every event of that day and night over and over- and to have the awful burden of knowing you couldnt find her? Then you have to deal with Police questions and the warrants and then with released docs and the aftermath of that.
    He is bothered by what he feels is unnecessary attempts to connect he and his girlfriend to some sinister act in Isabels abduction. He has tried to stop this.

    First Lizzygoat he said so much more than that- he also said he is worried that “the seeds” of this(commentary/speculation) will follow him for the rest of his life…
    Second- Are you his future employer LizzyGoat? How can you be so certain that none of this will reflect poorly on future employment?

    Perhaps his life long dream was to work with Blink and now that is sadly tarnished…(joke)

    What mistake did Mr McDonald make? He ventured out to look for a little lost girl at the beseeching of her distraught brother- accept responsibility? For what? Other than Trying to get Blink to remove all mention of him I do not see anything he needs to take responsibility for- For his comments- okay- what else?

    Lizzygoat, I appreciate you sharing all that info with me and the link yes it does let me into your thinking-

    Since you subscribe to Dalios Principles, I can begin to understand why your mom would lovingly refer to you as a terroist LOL

    Respectfully Lizzy this is not the corporate office of Ray Dalio- His truth is not the only truth. It may work for him and his company although it does have a 30% turn over rate…and His Principles may work for you.. But they are not for everyone.

    This is a victims advocate site where we are compassionate and empathetic. We are kind and no we are not brutally honest nor do we shred or probe or harshly criticize. Yes We can be emotional. We think emotions are good. Some are more emotional in posting than others. We believe every persons opinion is valuable – no matter their experiences or whether or not they pass “The Believability Matrix”

    You keep asking me why I am so emotional or defensive of Mr McDonald- first I think you mistook my bolding(capitalization) as yelling- I wasnt yelling and I am not being emotional. I am trying to be factual
    as to why I am taking on this debate- (I do not see it as a defense) I already answered that in my July 26, 2012 at 2:52 pm to you

    in summation:

    The truth is none of us know who is a person of interest or a suspect in Isabels case.

    But we do all know what a Good Samaritan is, So until LE tells me different I will consider Mr. McDonald a good Samaritan. To do anything less is to Kronk him and to set up “reasonable doubt” – and most importantly it is akin to stopping the next Good Samaritan from venturing out to help.-
    For who would sign up to be Kronked…better to just stay uninvolved then to suffer the consequences of doing the right thing

    and as I said LE wrote a letter to Mr. McDonald which stated

    “The Tuscon Police Department as well as myself certainly regrets the negative attention and scrutiny you and your girlfriend Alicia Gregory might have experienced these past several months. We hope that does not defer you from future Good Samaritan efforts to assist your community and city. You are not deserving of any negative commentary whatsoever.”

    LE have there reasons for doing so- I will not guess as to the reasons why I will take them at their word- I will respect their words and I will allow them to do their jobs.

    LizzyGoat, you then went on to write 5 paragraphs to explain your thoughts feelings and actions on what you think I got wrong in my motivation questions IRT Peters blog and statement analysis
    Again illustrating the human need to set perceived wrongs right -to clear up any misconceptions -to prevent the record from being “crooked”

    Seems you and Mr. McDonald share that human trait. SO in having wrote 5 paragraphs to try to set the record straight, I would think you now have a better understanding of why Mr McDonald would come back and post that letter, and you probably have a better understanding on why he asked Blink to reconsider… in addition to probably having a better understanding of his need to post the letter on other sites… and his need to answer a few questions right? And dare I say you now may have a Better understanding of Why Mr. McDonald would take it upon himself to contact LE which resulted in the LE letter- the truth may be that Nathan McDonald is human , same as you- and nothing more nefarious than that. correct?

    I dont know if you should post any of this you may want to keep it all to yourself- I am hesitant to post it because everything is so subjective and even if there is some truth to the rumors – what does that really mean for my questions/thoughts probably nothing..sometimes coincidences are just that-

    Scorpions played in Tuscon June 17th

    Blink I was hoping you could confirm or deny this information – Were Isa parents at the Tuscon Scorpions concert? Are they Scorpions fans?

    As we all know Sergio sang Ave Maria at the concert- Most were baffled by this at the time, it seemed strange.

    Isabels name is Isabel Mercedes Celis
    Mercedes means mercy it is a namesake for the Virgin Mary

    http://www.behindthename.com/name/mercedes

    and snipped:
    ‘Virgen de la Merced’ and ‘Virgen de las Mercedes.’ The title is of Spanish origin, as ‘Merced’ means a favor attributed by Mary to those who ask for her mediative role. The religious order of the Mercedarians was key in Spain and Latin America, and was originally founded by Peter Nolascus to redeem Christian captives during the Arab occupation of Spain in the middle ages. Today, Our Lady of Mercy is the patron saint of prisons and prisoners in general.

    When I read that rumor about the Celis it troubled me because it brought to mind the song Ave Maria No Morro and truthfully another song Daddys girl- but that is a whole other trip down the rabbit hole I am unwilling to take right now…
    If your so inclined and you find out they are Scorpions fans you may want to take a look.

    I digress

    Here are the spanish lyrics with translation- KIM there is no exact translation( at least not one I could find)

    Ave Maria del monte preciosita, chiquitita
    es el morro de los negros la mansion.
    Extraño mundo tan desgraciada y tan sencilla,

    Ave Maria
    Ave Maria
    Aunque no tenga capilla, reza la gente sencilla

    Ave Maria

    (Translation to english)

    Ave Maria from the mountain, precious, smaller girl
    the black hill is the mansion
    Strange world so unfortunate and so simple
    not even a chapel (to use) for you to pray
    But if you live in earth and heaven and [change]
    and the night with its cloak it covers the flagstones that they are going to love
    There is heard at the end of the day a prayer
    Hail Mary
    There is heard at the end of the day a prayer
    Hail Mary
    Although it has no chapel, the simple people pray
    Hail Mary

    That is the translation from spanish dictionary.com

    Here are different translations from the Scorpions site there are two pages-

    OBSERVATIONS
    1. Rio literally can be translated as river, but in this case it refers to a place I am pretty sure it means to Rio de Janeiro.
    2. Some people could said “sencilla” is translated as “simple” but in this case “sencilla” is refered to a girl with no luxures, humble, pretty, non corrupt, in resume a naive girl. or I don´t know what you think about
    3. As Tygo said before, the title is portuguese but the lyrics are spanish exept for the word “morro” (in portuguese) that means hill or hillock.
    4. The version at the web page is different from the one that Klaus sings in Mexico.
    5. ¡Ave Maria! is just a way to say Hail Maria!! as Scarlet rightly said. It refers to a divine call. But I think both of them are correct.

    I hope these observations can clear up us a little bit more the mistery involved in the song. And if you are wondering why a spanish-spoken man didn´t write the correct lyrics just hearing the song the first time, please consider that we just tried to understand the spanish from a german friend whom pronunciation can be quite diferent from the normal spanish, the same thing that happen when someone try to speak a non native language. Don´t you?

    —-Blink if Sergio is a Scorpions fan wouldnt he know this version especially since he is a singer also and it is a very popular Spanish version-

    It seems strange to me why he would not sing this version if he is a fan..Although it wouldnt showcase his opera talent..it does seem to speak to Isa- and to their home in Tuscon which is surrounded by the Hills of Black- (although the composer was speaking of Rio)

    http://www.maps4u.com/products/Satellite_Images/Tucson_Arizona.html

    Religion seems to be the Celis high point and that is good as they are asking for prayers and a miracle and they believe in the power of prayer which we all turn to in times of trouble… but with all the strangeness surrounding the 911 calls and the singing and the use of the word abduction…cps being involved and
    The writing on the wall The Virgin Mary stuff, and the seeming lack of urgency of the parents I have to hope could it all be some sort of a hoax to the power of prayer?

    IDK

    I keep seeing little Isa in that video singing and dancing to Abba-

    Chiquitita, tell me what’s wrong
    You’re enchained by your own sorrow
    In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
    How I hate to see you like this
    There is no way you can deny it
    I can see that you’re oh so sad, so quiet

    Chiquitita, tell me the truth
    I’m a shoulder you can cry on
    Your best friend, I’m the one you must rely on
    You were always sure of yourself
    Now I see you’ve broken a feather
    I hope we can patch it up together

    Chiquitita, you and I know
    How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they’re leaving
    You’ll be dancing once again and the pain will end
    You will have no time for grieving
    Chiquitita, you and I cry
    But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
    Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
    Sing a new song, Chiquitita
    Try once more like you did before
    Sing a new song, Chiquitita

    So the walls came tumbling down
    And your love’s a blown out candle
    All is gone and it seems too hard to handle
    Chiquitita, tell me the truth
    There is no way you can deny it
    I see that you’re oh so sad, so quiet

    Chiquitita, you and I know
    How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they’re leaving

    Catholics, and especially Mexican Catholics, focus a lot on the Virgin Mary. This may have to do with Our Lady of Guadalupe. If you are Christian, remember from the Bible that Mary had to watch her Son die, so it is not unusual at all for people to turn to Mary and Jesus at times of tragedy. I would say this is typical Catholic behavior, just as people of other faiths turn to God, or their version of God, when under stress or loss.

  14. Mom3.0 says:

    LaurieO,

    Hi thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yes- I realize that what you wrote is often true..

    I said much the same thing when Sergio sang Ave Maria – BUT heres the thing that I am wondering about-

    Were the Celis’ at the Scorpions concert?

    IF Sergio and Becky went to a Scorpions concert then they are fans- big fans— otherwise why would they venture out during such a sad time to attend this concert?
    And if they were fans- then they certainly would know the Ave Maria No Morro song- add to that point- the Family is Latino and Sergio is a singer- and they DO seem to cherish the Virgin Mary- more points for knowing the song -so why wouldnt Sergio choose to sing the Ave Maria No Morro song?

    I know this may mean nothing in the grand scheme of things but it is bothering me…

    The whole Scorpions concert is bothering me and I sure wish someone would dispel this rumor-

    For me, a Scorpions concert is the LAST place Id want to be if God forbid my child was missing-

    As TS Eliot wrote “There is no feeling, except the extremes of fear and grief, that does not find relief in music.”

    Relief, for me, even as an avid music lover -would not be found at this concert- probably not at any concert.

    The Scorpions are a great band and they sing many meaningful and beautiful songs- still many can be seen as dark – I would think this is especially true for parents trying to deal with the horror of a missing abducted endangered little innocent girl- their daughter.

    KIM- No concert goer can ever be sure which song is to be sung…

    LaurieO, you wrote that The Celis behaviors IRT the Virgin Mary can be seen as typical Catholic behavior…- you may be right- BUT all of their behaviors can not be seen as typical not of of Catholics or of distraught parents or of a missing Abducted child. JMO

    I have all along been willing to strive to give them the benefit of the doubt-
    But lately I must admit this has become harder and harder-

    Where are they?
    Why are they not front and center calling out to the kidnappers to the public to Isa for her safe return?

    Obviously Sergio had no fear of standing before an audience to sing- why not use his voice, as the police beseeched him to, to keep Isabel in the news?

    Why would Becky say (pp) the least she could do the better (when speaking to reporters about not wanting to be in the forefront..?)

    Why hold only candle light vigils or concerts at the church…many people are not religious and feel uncomfortable in such settings- wouldnt it be better for the parents and for Isa to reach as many persons as possible- not just those who may be comfortable ..where they the Celis’ are comfortable?

    Why continue to mostly put efforts toward fliers..and papering the streets- ..Fliers can only do so much..

    And IF you are going to focus on Fliers and distribution of fliers and you promote a paper the streets event asking for the public to attend and help –then shouldnt you show up at the event with fliers in hand-

    And if for any reason the event is canceled regardless if it is because there are problems with the organizers- and the group- regardless shouldn’t you show up to thank those who came- and shouldnt you cancel the event and at least talk to reporters who call or come to your door- so that you can apologize and keep your missing daughter in the news-sans all the negative drama?

    http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/19194425/only-a-few-show-up-for-paper-your-streets

    The Celis need a different approach- they need to rethink and reorganize and they need to speak out constantly- they need to leave their comfort zone IRT media- etc-

    They need to seek outside help and advice from people other than those from inside their church and whomever was involved previously-

    They need to contact Mark Klaas or Elisabeth Smart or CUE etc- so they can get some help in doing what is BEST for ISA- and whats best for themselves -perhaps these good people can get them in touch with a PR firm and other resources that will aid in regaining the publics attention and hearts- as well as aiding in bringing Home Isabel.

    Because again what they are doing now just isnt working– prayers can only do so much- God helps those who help themselves… We have been praying- we have been looking.. but now we have been left standing alone in a parking lot waiting to pass out fliers that never arrive… it seems all the public is left with are questions and doubt and unease + rumors and all that = dwindling attention and support –which will not help in bringing Isabel Celis Home.

    I hope they rethink their approach and start anew with aid from those that can help

    Thanks again for your thoughts LaurieO much appreciated.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Mom3.0, I agree that all of their behaviors can not be seen as typical. I was only trying to explain the Catholic end of things as many who read here are not Catholic.
    As for going to a Scorpions concert, I personally think it is too soon for this to be normal behavior. I base this on an experience I had once. Years ago, I had a miscarriage and was, of course, pretty upset. My husband was, too. About a month later, my DH won tickets to a Bruce Springsteen Concert. I went with him and we had a great time, even though we were both still in mourning/recovery mode. I felt guilty for going, even though we had mourned, cried, and knew our child was gone. But it was also nice to do something BESIDES mourn. But we knew our child was gone, not missing.
    Soooooo, if these people really think their child is coming home okay or hope she is, why go to a concert? It does seem out of place. I would be in a total panic if LE called my cell phone at a concert and told me some kind of sad or fantastic news. Is it wrong they went? No, but very very odd.
    Hello agin LaurieO,
    It looks like its just you and me holding down the fort.
    -
    I totally appreciate you sharing your insights LaurieO- and If it seemed like I did not understand your motivations, I apologize as I certainly do and agree with the possible explanation as having to do with the Celis’ Catholic beliefs. Thanks again for willingly stepping up to share this point of view- as you are correct- not everyone here is Catholic so your perspective on this belief system is that much more appreciated.-
    –I just need to clarify that I do not know if the celis’ attended the Scorpions concert- I have no way of knowing if that is true or just a rumor with no basis in fact.
    Thank you for sharing your thoughts on their possible attendance laurieO- and thank you most sincerely for sharing your own very personal story of attending a concert amidst the grief and sadness with me laurieO-
    I am very very sorry for your loss. There is nothing I can say that will convey my condolences but please know I am sorry.
    You wrote of having a good time and of your grief and your guilt at attending the concert so well -that I must say thank you- for you again have given me a different perspective- perhaps the Celis’ were given the tickets or they hoped for a moment to forget..and even though they may have looked like they were enjoying themselves without a care in the world- no one can ever say what is going on in the minds and hearts of another – certainly not me-
    Peace to you LaurieO
    Mom3.0,
    Thank you so much for YOUR kind words. Even if we can’t do much as far as actually searching, coming here just helps me, knowing that we are not alone in hoping this child, and many others, are found. I just wish there was some kind of news-anything!!
    I did find some helpful info the other day that MIGHT pertain to this case-
    On the very remote chance that Isa was taken across the border to Mexico at a legal entrance to Mexico, whoever had her should have been required to have a birth certificate AND a written permission of some kind to take her across the border. I got this from http://gomexico.about.com/od/entryrequirements/f/kids_entry.htm.
    It says, in part,
    “Parental Authorization
    In order to prevent international child abductions, minors traveling without their parents, or with only one parent, may be asked to present proof that they have their parents’ authorization for travel.
    A minor traveling unaccompanied by his or her parents must carry a notarized letter signed by the parents authorizing the travel.
    If only one parent is traveling with the child, they may be asked to show either documents proving they have sole legal custody of the child, or a notarized letter from the other parent authorizing the child to travel outside the country of origin. See an example parental authorization letter.”
    It’s not that I think it is likely that she in Mexico, but just thought this was useful information. Where is she?
  18. Mom3.0 says:
    LaurieO, youre welcome
    Thanks for sharing that research – very interesting. I guess the best case scenario is that she was taken possibly to Mexico by someone who wanted a daughter.
    I know this is sadly not the most likely scenario but I can hope.
    I wish there was some news too LaurieO- JVM did a segment on Isabel recently- She- sadly had no new info- in fact she and her panel mostly discussed the fake 911 calls
    But at least Isabel’s case was featured and her plight televised along with her pic hopefully it will help-
    here is the transcript of the show-
    I did take note of one statement by Jane which might go a long way to clearing the dad of suspicion- if true…according to Jane Sergio is not considered a suspect-
    Yes I realize LE will never name a suspect and there is a difference between POI and suspect… but to my knowledge LE previously had stated no one had been ruled out…
  19. Emilie says:
    Sergio and Rebecca Celis seem to have a superficial and/or sentimental attachment to religion. Perhaps they are cultural, secular Catholics? Sergio is a performer, an opera singer, a tenor specifically, so the Ave Maria would be in his repertoire. As an opera fan and a Catholic, I have listened to this aria by the best opera talent, secular or religious. Opera students learn it because it’s a beautiful aria always in demand.
    Rebecca Celis described herself as non-religous on FB. Many people find religion, even temporarily, in crisis. Not too long ago, she laughed about prayer, another example of their perplexing behavior in the wake of their precious child’s disappearance…or “abduction” according to Sergio’s chuckling 911 call. In that call he wanted to report a missing “person,” that person being abducted from his home.
    Their seemingly faux Catholicism includes the wearing of the Rosary as jewelry. The Rosary is an aid to more focused prayer; it is NOT jewelry. “Hail Mary, full of grace…” Luke 1:26-29. It’s a biblically based meditation on the life of Jesus. An ostentatious display of wearing such an item as jewelry is an offense to the faith and to all practicing Catholics.
    May God shine his light on this family, bring the perpetrator(s) to repentance and justice, and keep precious Isabel safe, wherever she might be.
    —————————————————————-
    Emilie, I said the same thing in a previous post on here. Someone pointed out to me that it is common for Mexican Catholics to wear rosaries. But I have been to a Spanish Mass recently here in my town and I didn’t see the people there wearing rosaries. I don’t know what to think. I know in the pics where I saw them wearing rosaries, the rosaries looked brand spanking new and they matched. Of course, there is nothing wrong with new rosaries, but it seems the put them on as a prop. And believe me, I hate insulting anyone’s display of faith, but it just struck me as odd.
    All JMO
  21. Emilie says:
    Hi Laurie! I agree with everything you stated. Only God can search the human heart and soul, but we can observe their actions and listen to what they say. Those huge rosaries around their necks are a ridiculous display of faux faith, IMO. They matched the t-shirts…you know, those shirts with poor little Isabel’s pic on the back, not the front! I can only hope they’re not selling decorative rosaries (LOL) as part of their online cottage industry built upon Isa’s disappearance.
    Where is Isabel?
  22. Kris says:
    Isabel’s birthday was this week. God bless this child wherever she may be. You are not forgotten, Isabel.
  23. Mom3.0 says:
    Just offering a different precpective:
    I have seen people wearing Rosaries-
    when they are frightened or are continually praying for intercession.
    For Instance In the hospital, while awaiting news I have seen many wear Rosaries
    and I have seen parents give a Rosary to a child to wear to school to make them feel safer even though Mom or Dad isnt there …wear these to know you are protected
    I know most elder Catholics see the wearing of Rosary beads as wrong.. but many of these elder Catholics have no problem hanging or having their children or grandchildren hang Rosary beads from their rear view mirrors
    Is that any less of a display ?
    I think it comes down to wanting to feel safe and protected for those who choose to hang them in their car- it is their form of a plastic Jesus …please God- Mary -Jesus…watch over me- protect me. Amen
    I do not know if the Celis/ are extremely religious- or if they have become so since Isabels disappearance-
    I can not say why they are wearing the Rosary beads- or if their religion is faux or not-
    I cant lie and say that thought never crossed my mind they could be using religion and their church as a shield or they could be leaning on their beliefs in extreme times because they are religious
    Emilie wrote in part:
    “The Rosary is an aid to more focused prayer; it is NOT jewelry.”
    -I understand your thoughts that it shouldnt be worn as jewelery but There is no ban that says that- in fact many Priests are giving the advice that it is okay to wear the Rosary- don’t think it is sacrileges in itself to wear a Rosary.
    Some Nuns and Franciscan Friars as well as lay people often wear Rosary beads on about their waists or they hang from the belt by small hooks. Many religious orders and institutes have a form of the Rosary as part of their habit.
    LaurieO, I have some of the same concerns abut maybe they went out and bought or were given as a gift two new Rosaries?
    Lastly-
    It seems some schools are trying to prohibit the wearing of Rosary beads because there are LEO that say some gangs are wearing Rosary beads to show their affiliations
    see here:
    A special mass was held at the family’s church.
    It was a touching service. Even with their loved one missing, the family celebrated as if Isabel was home.
    They started the day with donuts and balloons, Isabel’s favorite……
    Sergio says keeping a routine, is how they get through the day.
    Eleven year old Julian Celis says, “every night when we do the rosary. I just pray to god to help us find her.”
    Wearing rosaries and ribbons close to their hearts, they’re determined never to lose hope.
    Isabel’s other brother, fifteen year old Sergio says, “mainly I pray that she comes home quickly, safely the next day so that we don’t have to live another day of this nightmare.”
    “Just the fact that we’re doing the mass, and thanking God for her, even though she’s not here. We want to thank God that she was given to us, and hopefully she’ll come back soon,” says Becky.
    Both Becky and Sergio say they are back at home, and back at work, staying strong for their children.
    This video shares more footage of Isas brothers
    My heart breaks as Sergio Jr says I always pray I will even see her in my sleep I always dream about her to even have the blessing to see her in my sleep.
    Sergio Jr- tears up and is on the verge of crying throughout the clip
    So very sad.
    The whole family is wearing Rosary Beads and these Beads are not Fancy Nor do they match- I believe these Rosary Beads to be the kind you make yourself- More Rosary beads were donated
    This link has the entire interview with the family
    Becky and Sergio Celis poured their sadness into prayer today, celebrating their daughter’s 7th birthday with a special mass and rosary.
    Whether she can hear these words or not, they had this special birthday wish for their daughter.
    “Happy Birthday Isabel. We love you so much…Love you and miss you so much we want you home,” Sergio Celis said.
    “Happy birthday baby girl I love you so much can’t wait to have you in my arms,” Becky Celis said.
    It’s another day for the Celis family with no Isa. No answers, but today is different.
    It is the day she turns 7, a first birthday not celebrated at home with family.
    “We plead to whoever has her…We still don’t understand why this is going on…We just beg. We beg give in to your guiltiness give in to everything else and let her come home… she needs to come home,” Sergio said.
    —-
    Everyone including me has been calling for The Celis to speak out and now they have- They spoke to Isabel the community her captor the nation. It is a shame each News service did not show this interview in full.
    I clicked on video after video the sixth one finally had the raw interview.
    So much was said- and I finally get a feel for the family and how much Isabel means to them
    I hope everyone watches and hopefully it will help us all to see things in a different way if not it may help us not to rush to judgment no matter how frustrating this case may be- I know it helped me
    I continue to pray for Isabel her family her friends and her community
    —Strange world…one minute you think hey you shouldnt wear Rosaries…. the next you think oh man what a shame, they cant wear those Rosaries because of gangs…
    ——————————————————————-
    Well said. Without a doubt, the world is inconsistent and always changing. Very sad that people are abusing a religious item, but it happens. And I do not want to attack the Celis’ sincerity. Some of this just seemed odd.
    Prayers for Isa.
    LaurieO-
    I feel the same way – I do not want to attack the Celis’ and I feel bad when I have questions but
    At the same time I am concerned or conflicted over what I too perceive to be odd –
    Lets face it Sergio did come off as odd- his behaviors and mannerisms remind me a little of George Anthony- in the sense that everything he says or does seems to be overly dramatic- or played out.Purposeful, words chosen, as if they had a script they were reading from directly….
    Those were just my initial thoughts and it did seem odd to me- as did the 911 call etc but again I donot know him so I cant say if the facial gestures, language, hand gestures etc are normal for him.
    The Celis spoke recently- Thanks Kris for alerting us to Isa’s Birthday, most appreciated
    I am glad they did come out and talk- I cant say that these new interviews made Sergio seem a great deal less odd, but I think after watching them that Sergio may just be dramatic in life…
    The interview did help me to see him and the family in a more sympathetic/better light-
    I must admit I still dont know what to think…but
    So much of what I was basing my opinions on, was their silence….
    Everyone including me has been calling for The Celis to speak out more and now they have- They spoke to Isabel, the community, to her captor..
    It is a shame each News service did not show this interview in full, although there were quite a few that covered the story, each with different add ons-..Ill try to post them later.
    In this interview, each family member talks, and The whole family is wearing Rosary Beads- I believe these Rosary Beads are home made- I dont know if they made them themselves… but More Rosary beads made in the same manner, were donated to Isabel’s cause.
    o/t Nice to see you as always Mom3.0. I am having similar school adjustments, etc.
    This coverage broke my heart. I have been pretty vocal in this case that I feel this was an intruder, albeit someone familiar with the home.
    It is time for LE to release additional details. I beg them to do better than so many cases we see lately that have released details after 20+ years.
    I wonder how to help them with that constantly.
    God bless this little cherub. I pray for strength and for answers in her case.
  29. Mom3.0 says:
    Hi Blink-
    Yes it is back to school time and it has been hectic around here to say the least- so I have been busy Im still reading just have not had the time to post.
    I noticed you found my earlier post I had assumed it was lost and just resigned myself to incorporating the info in a new post…thanks for finding and posting it- much appreciated.
    —I still dont know what to think about this case but I must say that your scenario makes the most sense right now—
    it would make sense that whomever abducted little Isa was familiar with the family and the home in some way-
    Also the fact that LE does state that this is in fact an abduction from the home- to me rules out the chance that a direct family member killed her accidentally or otherwise and is covering it up with tales of an abduction ala Casey Anthony….
    I also agree that it is time for LE to release more info…wasnt the sealed search warrants supposed to be released at the end of August? Perhaps I am mistaken on that info…
    Something has to give-
    I totally understand your hopes and fears regarding your wish to help LE figure out how to walk the line in releasing enough info that will aid and not harm…what a horrible predicament for them-
    on one hand you want to progress the case and help to bring the missing home on the other you dont want to tip off the BG or harm the case or put the missing in more danger…
    I dont know what the answer is either and it is easy for me to sit on the sidelines critiquing LE as I have on a # of cases such as Morgans or Stevie Mikes and Chriss case- but the truth is from the sidelines I can only see so much and I may be missing most of the essential plays and most definitely I am not privy to the play book or the inside track as it may be…
    So although I question and voice my concerns I do hold LE in the highest regard and often include them in my prayers when thinking of those most affected by these sad cases.
    and as always I do thank them for their hard work.
    Thanks to you too Blink for always being here to welcome me back
    and again prayers for Isa for her family for her community and for LE -
    AJMO
    Peace
  30. Ode says:
    Where are you Isabel? Blink did they release new information recently? I caught a small part of JVM last night. Have you seen any new information released by LE?
    None and warrants are still sealed.
    B
  31. Word Girl says:
    Any news on Isabel? She’s still on my heart and I was unable to find information anywhere.
  32. Word Girl says:
    Can Blink or anyone explain why the search warrants are still sealed?
    Is it because the high media interest in the case? Do the warrants point toward culpability?
    They do need to give a good reason for searching a citizen’s property and I can’t think of any other reason than LE’s suspicion from the beginning.
  33. Ken from Alaska says:
    Hi Blink,
    This case has touched so many people around this county. Thank you for all of your updates. I hope, like so many others, Isa is found safe. That’s part of my daily prayers and has been since she was reported missing. And prayers for the people of Tucson.
    This has to affect every parent!
  34. laura says:
    I cant believe there is no news on this baby girl. I was also wondering did I miss part 2 somewhere? I cant find the link on here, its been awhile since I checked in on this particular site. I pray for Isa and her family everyday, I wish LE would at least give an update on thier efforts, last I heard they had two full time detectives working the case and said it was far from cold…I hope thats the reason for the silence, and not that they have nothing!
  35. Word Girl says:
    laura, as far as I know we don’t have part ii yet. Blink did say in early June that “It is not coming out in the”wash” for Isabel. There are suspects. She continues to be missing and presumed abducted.”
    That is probably what detectives mean by “it is far from cold” and that they are dedicated to finding the sweet girl.
    Isa’s seventh birthday has come and gone. This reminds me so much of Kyron and it just doesn’t seem possible that children are snatched from their beds and from their schools.
    Sad, but true.
  36. Elizabeth says:
    Checking in and hoping to find out some worthwhile information on what happened to Isabelle.
    It seems to be a cold case and that always makes me sad.
  37. Tar Heel Gal says:
    Oh, my! The Celis family is coming up on Katie Couric’s show in a few minutes! Got the DVR set. Had just turned on to check The Weather Channel and my DH had left the TV on ABC and I saw the clip-to-be! Preview showed dad saying, “I just don’t think this was random!”
  38. Tar Heel Gal says:
    Recap from Celis mom and dad on Katie: They both took polys, they asked LE questions about them, LE was vague with with them re: their results. Sergio said the way it happened, the way their house and backyard are laid out, to know where her bedroom was, with 1 deaf dog in yard and yappers which are kept in parent bedroom, it had to be someone who had been in their home. Becky’s maternal gut believes Isabel is alive and out there.
  39. T. Ruth says:
    Hadn’t seen this before, hope I’m not repeating here. (from Oct.2012)
    (snipped)
    So much so, the family is now working with a private investigator in California.
    The PI has a background in law enforcement and was recommended to Sergio’s sister.
    “I can’t say that they’re following up on different leads, but maybe different angles that the police were not investigating,” Sergio said.
    The family has spoken to the PI once or twice they said via conference calls.
    “I feel like she’s somewhere north or in California somewhere out there,” Becky said.
    The parents believe Isabel is in California because of a strong tip that came in. They don’t believe she is in Arizona.
    Sergio said any new information is given directly to the Tucson Police Department, who he said he is frustrated with.
    “The fact that communication has been what is has been for two to three months, which is non-existent,” Sergio said.
    The upset father also accused detectives of not following up on a lead for several weeks.
    “That is, that is I want to say unacceptable. How could that be?” questioned Sergio.
    Via email a spokesperson addressed that question to 3TV:
    “With respect to the information you received from the Celis family, I am not sure what tip they are specifically referring to. However, I can assure you that each and every tip received is thoroughly investigated. In addition, some tips cause investigators to go back and conduct additional review of previous tips that were received. The detectives and analysts that continue the investigative efforts are meticulous in their examination of every tip received. Nothing is ever “ignored.” Detectives are always available to the Celis family. I am not sure who they were specifically trying to get in touch with or when,” said Sgt. Maria Hawke.
    Sgt. Chris Widmer said during an on-camera interview that two detectives are still working on this case, and at times they are used for other cases, too.
    3TV asked to speak with the chief of police for an update and we’re told he wasn’t available because there aren’t any new updates.
    More than 2,000 leads have come in, but Widmer said the incoming tips are slowing down.
    Widmer could not answer questions specific to details of the investigation.
    “We release what we can to the public without interfering with the investigation,” Widmer said. “There may be details that we’re holding, but there’s a purpose for it.”
    We’re told sex offenders in Isabel’s neighborhood have been interviewed once, twice up to four times if needed
    No one has been ruled out as suspects, not even Isabel’s relatives or parents.
    Still praying for Isa. How do our kids keep disappearing *without a trace*. So sad.
  40. Ode says:
    Thank you, I am aware. For someone not wanting to tarnish a name, he has literally spent all of time doing so on his own. It is being monitored appropriately.
    Just thinking of Isa since the Jodi Arias trial is in Arizona
    Perhaps her family or an advocate for Isa can get in touch with Insession or HLN and ask them to remind the public of Isas disappearance-
    It cant hurt..perhaps someone will see the flier/coverage that didnt previously since the JA trial involves persons on other states
    If it means doing interviews or doing a show here and there,” Sergio Celis said, “whatever we need to do, I just need her home.”
    They have hired private investigators and try to talk to Tucson Police every few weeks
    here are no major updates in the case, but police still have staff working full-time on the investigation, according to Tucson Police.
  43. Rose says:
    I looked back at this case to ascertain cps’ initial involvement. Lt speakinh for case said cps was involved from Day 1.
    Really?
    http://azstarnet.com/news/local/crime/cps-visited-isabel-s-home-in-december-tucson-police-confirm/article_8a0e22a3-f9a3-5df6-a4f1-163f280fad8f.html
    It seems the reason was there was a prior cps investigation dating to the previous Dec.
    The Lt goes on to say he had no idea if the cps case was open or closed at the time he was interviewed, or what the substance of the case was. Really? There are mandated short time frames to investigate & mark a case founded or unfounded, and No One in the cps system, which is not confiddntial from LE in an investigation, could miss if a case was still open or had been closed on the abduction date.
    imo Lt’s lack of knowledge was covering up for cps.
    It is most likely the case had not been closed timely within
    mandated days for an initial investigation. Likely whatever investigation
    occurred was inadequately documented in the record. Likely whatever
    happened to Isa was connected to an inadequate cps investigation.
    Lt denies knowledge, but 1) who reported to cps, 2) about what probably
    has a nexus to this disappearance.
    JVM did a special in celebration of Isabel’s 8th birthday discussing the family’s new release of info regarding a private investigator.
