@rose: yes’m, ITA with you. The big donors will hide. So, there’s a different way to scope them out. And they’re on my list, for the more complex organization they bring, and for the coverup.

But the small fish, like street-level drug dealers or users, are of interest to me as well. If the activity Greg Bucceroni described has been in play after Savitz’ death, there are a lot of kids who’ve been hurt by the small fish. I know they’re out there, somewhere.

People in PA, NJ, NY know some of these people, at either of the 2 levels. I’m sure of it. If any of them can start working together, then more of this can be cleaned up than just Sandusky and his enablers. It’s a valuable opportunity; it can’t drift away. It just can’t.

    Yep.

Otherwise, sentence him to the road gang to finish the neverending 30 year road building project on the MD-OH leg of the PA Turnpike.

Good idea Rose. To think you have to PAY to drive that stretch of road is ridiculous. As an Buckeye who loves visiting the east coast, I have cursed that stretch many times!

IOW, who sold Joe DTR? We already know Erikson lied about consulting with the BOT. Then there was this faction of people that wanted Paterno out, long before the scandal broke. Why did the NCAA rely completely on the Freeh report and not do their own investigation? This recent attempt is futile, but continues the family perspective that this was not unfair. Are they pig headed, or do they know something we do not.

Joe Paterno’s family plans to appeal NCAA sanctions against Penn State

  5. Word Girl says:

The boots on the ground means you are approachable and friendly and have a knack for chatting with all strati of life. Strati, Word Girl? Really?

For example, you can learn a lot of about a big donor by listening to a tiny bit of info/gossip such as: The Missus Donor plays golf with a bigger donor than herself on the day of Missus Big’s husband’s heart surgery.

Well, now. How did this info get out? What hospital employee thought this was not cool? Who cleans and stores the clubs? Who wipes down the car after its trip outdoors? Which agency hires the in-house helpers (employees)? Who do we know in the pro shop and who is the golf pro friends with? Oh, the list never ends. (Did the flower delivery man hear yelling last Wednesday?!)

It goes on and on, as Rose said. Someone felt some outrage that Mrs. Bigg was out on the golf course instead of being available by phone or in the hospital waiting room. That outrage led to a bit of exasperation.

No problem. We’ll track that down. It’s a whole lot easier if you’ve been a student of literature and understand the human condition; and much easier yet if you’ve immersed yourself in the home turf of your subject.

Sara G. broke the story for sure and did it the hard way. Eventually some of the big dawgs contributed to the ongoing media investigation.

I have to say, though, that we’ve got the biggest dawgs here and they deserve a lot of credit for scattering crumbs picked up by those who are getting paid to cover these stories. I can prove that Blinkoncrime has already scooped numerous times in the Sadusky case.
(As you wizards already know, my nose gets stopped up when I write Jerry Sadusky’s name–it’s just one of my many character flaws.)

So, it’s nasally ‘Sadusky.’ I hope he’s having a good time in jail.
He’ll never admit his crimes. That’s why we’ve got to find and stop others like him. And make sure they stay caught.

The choice is between shut down now–mainly termination of employees–(retain remaining assets in bank).
OR shut down asap on Court approval–assets shipped out of State to a questionable TX nonprofit.
Either way, TSM as PA knew it is shut down.
The only Q is do the assets go to anooutofstate nonprofit?

So I don’t time out in this post, I’ll reserve most of the links for my next post. My notes, archiving here, if of any use to anyone:

Who knew who, when, in Phillie?

Joe Amendola was an assistant DA in Philadelphia after he graduated from Georgetown law school (class of 1973)

Ed Rendell was an assistant DA in Philadelphia at the time Amendola was:

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Gov. Rendell joined the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office upon completing law school, rising to Chief of Homicide in 1972. He was elected District Attorney in 1977 and, for a second term of office, in 1981.

Rendell was DA of Phillie, when Ed Savitz’ brother, Joseph H. Savitz (also an asst DA there at one time) committed suicide—in 1980. Ruled death by overdose of barbiturates. I haven’t been able to determine the exact dates that Joseph was in the DA’s office. This is old info for accessing on the web. I’ve found cases where Joseph was ADA there in 1950s, and latest in 1963. So, don’t know if Joseph and Amendola overlapped in Phillie DA office.

Greg Bucceroni filed a complaint against Ed Savitz in 1980, and has posed the question as to why Joseph Savitz would have committed suicide at that time. It took many years for the active investigation of Ed Savitz to culminate in an arraignment (in 1992), handled by Lynne Abraham.

Greg Bucceroni has said that Ed Rendell was friends with Ed Savitz, and has remained friends with the still-living brother, Samuel J. Savitz (who is still head of the family business, Savitz Organization.)

Reading the Declaration will be three Penn State University professors, a French citizen and Christopher Lee, a descendant of Richard Henry Lee and CEO of the Boal Mansion Museum.

Dumas and Lee, who have read the Declaration at this event for a number of years, are continuing the tradition of the Declaration of Independence this year by running as candidates for U.S. Congress in the 5th District (Dumas) and State Representative in the 171st District (Lee) in the upcoming November 6 election.

@Beejay. I find it hard to believe this (more rural Western) County will elect a black gentleman over a scion of the revolution but it will happen. http://www.co.centre.pa.us/elections/results/results.asp?FolderName=2012__general_primary_election&FileName=2012_general_primary_accumulated_results
While Republican voters outnumber Dems in the County, the Dems real polls issue is terrible voter turnout, relative to Reps. Even if that is corrected in Nov., Dumas’ turnout far outstrips Lee’s. If you look at the bigger file though, with boro by boro breakout, in some, Lee/Dumas break virtually even. Those areas are where Lee loyalist’s live.

  22. Rose says:

    http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/ElectionsInformation.aspx?ElectionID=45&FunctionID=13&OfficeID=11
I was clearly confused reading those boro reports. Dumas is a Dem, running against popular Republican & now incumbent Thompson and hasn’t a prayer with the Dem turnout here.

And in the State Repr 171st Distr, Lee hasn’t a prayer imo even against Kerry with that Dem poll turnout.
she had 2 to 1 more voters in primary.  http://wearecentralpa.com/electionresults
I wanted to know if JS ever campaigned for Thompson who ran several times before elected and was pretty grassroots due to his CV.

    Yes maam and thank you

  25. beejay says:

@rose: From all I’ve read about Sandusky, including his book, he wasn’t interested in politics. (Granted, he was trying to sell a book of interest to football fans. So he might’ve omitted political references.)

He and Art both received that NAACP award in Washington, PA in 1994. Western PA. Is the NAACP over that way a Republican party stronghold? Was it in 1994? IDK. I know Sandusky and Paterno were both registered Republican, but I believe that was as much for pubic relations/financial reasons as anything.

(Somewhere along the way Paterno switched over from Dem to Rep–registered, that is. I might have read that in George Paterno’s book about JoePa. Not sure)

Lee Stout, retired in 2007 as PSU librarian/archivist, goes about his business with Christopher G. Lee. Or, used to. CGL is still using a several-yr-old quote by Stout on the Boal Mansion website. To hawk the wonders of Boal Mansion. Does Stout, the archivist, remember reading about CGL’s ARD for child sex abuse charges? IDK

    I have many questions.

Oh–back to Washington, PA and the NAACP. In 1993, in a local newspaper there, the same page where the Sandusky award coverage appeared, was an article about Mel Blount and his Youth Home. Blount has had trouble with many locals since he opened it around 1990ish. (Has a contract with Allegheny county CYS to place kids there). Wondering if the Sanduskys/their supporters were in any way helpful to Blount?

I believe we’ve had the link to that article up here before. I was re-reading it last night, but erased my cache. IIRC, it’s in the Observer Reporter (newspaper of Washington and Greene counties). April, 1993.

  26. beejay says:

OK, I’m looking for that 1993 newspaper article and if anyone goes about the way I am you’re gonna run into this. Just thought I’d warn you:

“I started cooking, well helping a cook, at another youth placement call The Mel Blount Youth Home of PA, I was lucky enough to be abused by two staff there and had one I really liked. Mr Chuck he is now a PA State Policeman or was last time I seen him.”

    http://mikesanubis.com/2012/04/22/my-time-at-circle-c-the-mel-blount-youth-home-of-pa/

Um. Unfortunately, this man is representative of a number of self-professed victims who would not make good witnesses at trial. Very sad; you can read his story there. I am aware of various legal problems Blount has had at his youth home in PA (weapons; wrongful termination-reverse discrimination; others). And his relative, brother IIRC, has had at the original youth home in Vidalia, GA (my home state).

Some of Blount’s accusers have been former/terminated employees. He is an excellent horseman, BTW, and the boys at those homes maintain the horse areas; many love the horses (animal-assisted therapy, I ‘spose). Blount got good PR from inviting Rick Santorum to visit his PA home, where he lives. Federal grants to purchase land for that home–many interesting things over there around Washington, PA.

There’s lots of stuff to juggle around these parts.

  27. beejay says:

I think maybe Sandusky and Mel Blount (Pittsburgh Steelers player)also were around each other some due to a shared interest in WPIAL sports, esp football. (Remember Art Sandusky was instrumental in establishing WPIAL.)

Here they were to attend an event where awards were given to some WPIAL football coaches. At the link look to the left of the large face photo (unrelated to this). Under “Dinner time” it says Mel and JS to attend Westmoreland County Sports Hall of Fame dinner. In Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Feb 4, 1982. (That might be source of that naacp awards article as well. It’s upstream; way upstream)

Rose, thx for staying on that “questionable TX nonprofit” which needs court action soon. What a crock.

Our navigational charts show the connections all the way to the White House and back. It’s all very clear that so many of these people know each other–very, very well. They work to protect each other and look the other way when something unsavory is going down.
I want to credit rose, erose, bj, and blink–I”m just Wordy and I’m Wordin’ Around.

Blink, though–About that DIME. You said we’re not getting off it anytime soon. So right about that.
After I read your article on Thursday, I went to work and found a dime on the kitchen floor. Wierd. I later put it in my bathroom (?) and then re-found it. Cleaning in my bedroom, I found its brother. Friday, my good friend, who knew nothing at all about the dimes, put a vintage Liberty dime on a necklace around my neck. (!!!)

Saturday I found the first dime again (I’m not very organized.)

After I got over my shock of this dime business, I remembered how I found a penny everyday after my Dad died. I had eleven. He taught me to go to the casino with ten dollars and play until you had eleven: Then, take your free coffee and go home. Later, I had a string of forty pennies, with only a few days in between without one.

Now, there’s something to this dime business, besides, duh,’follow the money.’ It’s more something like “Put your money where your heart is.”

I don’t know if this is the place, but I often say this to myself at the hard times. It’s by Emily.

    “After great pain
    A formal feeling comes
    The nerves sit ceremoniously
like tombs and the stiff heart questions
Was it He that bore? …”

uh…yes…I’ll look up the rest for you here:

“The stiff Heart questions–was it He that bore?
    And yesterday–or centuries before?
    The feet, mechanical, go round
    A wooden way
Of ground, or air, or ought,
    Regardless grown,
A quartz contentment, like a stone.

This is the hour of lead
    Remembered if outlived,
As freezing persons recollect the snow–
First chill, then stupor, then the letting go.”

I do so love that poem. I hope you love it, too. Fortunate I was to perform it along with the Velveteen Rabbit piece you cited, in an Oral Interpretation scenes night in college. Velveteen Rabbit and Le Petit Prince are my favorite books (along with At the Back of the North Wind).

Since it was quiet here in this corner, I thought I could spend a little time with you all. I have a feeling we’d make very good friends.

10 cents for your thoughts. :)

beejay, lol, you, erose, rose, word and I are not getting off this dime anytime soon.

If you think that you five are stuck on this dime, just don’t forget those of us who just keep having him show up singing in our faces. Or trying to talk to our children. Or those of us who worry incessantly about friends kids performing at the Barn.

B, I know you’re empathetic to my pain on this, but it’s really killing me lately. I’ve even tried to wrap my mind around the possibility that the guy wasn’t guilty, but I can’t get it there. He’s just too connected to plead and take an ARD if he was innocent. It happens, but to the poor schmucks who are stuck with an impatient public defender, or are afraid of being deported, etc. Not to the curator of the Columbus Chapel who’s also on the township council, etc.

I about cried (literally) when I saw last week’s photo of him with the bishop. And I thought the school principal photos were bad enough. I think this was a private visit with a friend, not an official bishop visit, but it looks enough like an endorsement to me. I’ve started a letter to the bishop, but just can’t find the right words for this one.

I am, I do, and moreover, I can tell you emphatically I believe this man is a pedophile.
Yet, appears to be teflon. Remind you of anyone?

@Word Girl. just remember, not the current White House!!!!
Probably hasn’t been this scandal-quiet since before FDR.
There have always been rumors in DC about gay Members mostly one party in last 2 decades.
What was it before? Hoover? That Roy Cohn guy? there’re always rumors.
I believe Those Who Want To Hide from voters and media on sexually deviant behavior know no political party tho. .
I handed daughter a book of Dickinson yesterday as we drove asking, “Read to me; memorize.”.
    And she tried.

I’ve just seen a youtube of a Noreen Gosch speech, and I find that particular film of
    her tending to believeability.

you know beejay, I like that Centre Cty music group Lee (Pres of) & Spanier were both a part of.
Members & club mentor teens too. And Lee may rock out in his home, but a musician & pianist he is not in my opinion based in exposure to piano accompanists of teens in my region (the imo rationale)

  35. Rose says:

@beejay. ty as always for research this parasite feeds on.
I get JS was apolitical (his cultivated naivetee demeanor?), but his fundraising
supporters as well as Board members were unlikely to be. In fact his fundraiser 07-09 is
    quintesenntially politically socially & professionally.

Beejay, I think of parallel systems..
Blink often referred to parallel investigations wrt kyron.
(imo now I know that referred to investigations and
    probably meant mfh plus.)

But it could mean in the JS case that he acted alone and was a sole ignored
pedophile (small town, respected man syndrome), and yet, on a parallel plane there were
    (1) pedophile party animals with social connections (Lee and friends),
    as well as
    (2) a more national high rolling network (the other stuff: NE DC).

  36. Rose says:

I feel my name breathec in same sentence as you, beejay or erose et al is sacriligious.
I did not realize you were so local and impacted, tho I vaguely thought you taught at PS.
Imo the Lee SO ARD is enough for all groups including PS Theatre & younger to book elsewhere.
What can you as a resident do?
Go find Sue Paterno, a generous volunteer (cold call; cold write), and find and create an alternative performance venue.
Form a committee; find another Barn. If I were there, I’d help

I live around here. Silver Spring is middle middle class ranging to the bottom imo, no upside
Maybe Blair swung a gov election, but this family was at best upper middle class and sliding down but for “politics.”
The Boalsburg home allows Chris to live out a rich fantasy life, that’s all. in my opinion.

1966, the year Lee was made director of the manison.

    Pierre deLagarde Boal

Pierre became a U.S. Ambassador and couldn’t return to the Boal Mansion until 1952 when he opened it up as a non-profit museum and began to restore it. He died in 1966. His daughter, Mathilde (Mimi), married Blair Lee III (1916-1985) of Maryland in 1944. Lee was Governor of Maryland in the 1970′s. Their son, Christopher Lee, is the current resident and CEO of the Boal Mansion Museum.

  42. beejay says:

It’s possible that Christopher G. Lee was truthful about the conversation during what I assumed was just a photo-op for him (and no clue as to why Bishop Bartchak was at Boal Mansion). CGL said they discussed canon law vs. constitutional law (or whatever he called the latter). Well, the Bishop has surely had his hands full of both these last few years with the events in the Catholic Church wrt sexual misconduct.

Just ran across what I take to be a man’s attempt to make hay of the Sandusky events, trying to bully the Pittsburgh Steelers into moving the now-underway training camp to a site other than St. Vincent College, where it traditionally is (that would be financially punitive to the college).

But underlying what one pieces together at his website, and setting aside his bullying attempt, there are some scraps of fact worth looking at. Looks like this man was, in his earlier years, a victim of Benedictine monks’ sexual assaults. There’s more, but my point is that, one of his attempts to file a lawsuit was turned away by the court which said it was not the business of the court to interfere in canon law.

So, he has taken up his complaint with the Church, going thru proper channels. And has failed once in his issues with Archabbot Nowicki, who the Church cleared. He brings Bishop Bartchak into it, hinting at a coverup.

So, CGL and Bishop Bartchak might have had an interesting conversation that day.

    “Misconduct in Latrobe

Today, I write this letter to make you aware of credible allegations of serious sexual misconduct that have been made against the current Chancellor of Saint Vincent College, Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki.

On October 5, 2011, Mr. Robert J.B. Flummerfelt, J.C.L., J.D., Esq, a civil attorney, and a Canon Lawyer, submitted a canonical denunciation in respect to Archabbot Nowicki to the competent Dicastery at the Holy See: the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

On December 16, 2011, the Congregation responded to Mr. Flummerfelt’s letter to let him know that, “the matter is currently being studied.”

…It must be recorded that the Catholic Chaplaincy at Penn State is conducted under the auspices of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. In a letter dated November 29, 2011, to the Congregation for Bishops in Rome, raised serious questions about the conduct of Fr. Mark L. Bartchak, and the role that he played in the cover-up the Archabbot Nowicki’s misconduct before his appointment as Bishop of Altoona-Johnstown, when acted as a canonical adviser to Archabbot Nowicki.”

Click on the “Posts” on the right sidebar there to see the complete tale by this man. I left out the stuff about the Paternos connection with Bartchak. I’m more interested in CGL and what he’s up to.

  43. beejay says:

@rose: you said, “The Boalsburg home allows Chris to live out a rich fantasy life, that’s all. in my opinion.”

Yes’m. Plus, that all-important means of making a living for a history major from Princeton with not much else going on. And–and, possibly, he does appear to enjoy the company of children. Boal Mansion has a wonderful program to attract school-age children.

You did read that he said he moved to Boalsburg to run the Mansion when his mom died, I guess.

  44. erose says:

If you all haven’t done it, read Victor Thorn of American Free Press on Sandusky. Links won’t post, so Google. One article is titled, “PSU Cover Up Connecting the Dots” June 22, 2012, and the more recent July 30th, “The Men Who Covered Up for Jerry Sandusky.”

One of the best points he makes is that Spainer arranged for the emeritus title for Sandusky when Spainer had only been at PSU for 3 years. You have to ask why, right?

Pierre Boal Lee (Chris Lee’s youngest brother) Suicide

In addition to this, Gov. Lee and his family had gone through their share of personal trouble, all in the public eye. He experienced the trials of a parent very involved in a time-consuming public career who also raised a family of eight children. Stories appeared concerning conflicts common to families of the era, ranging from life styles to foreign policy. In 1973, his 27-year-old second son, Pierre Boal Lee, committed suicide by jumping off San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.

    http://www.msa.md.gov/megafile/msa/speccol/sc3500/sc3520/001400/001491/html/post27oct1985.html

If you read this link for Lee’s father’s obit, you can see how politically connected his family is. Interesting that Gov Lee was involved with the Kennedy/Johnson campaigns at the local level, when it was the Johnson administration that declared Columbus Day as a holiday.

You always have to wonder what was so bad for a 27 year old to jump off a bridge; drugs, broken heart, mental illness, sexuality or abuse? Anyway, I’m guessing CGL met his share of politicians and was most likely a victim of sexual abuse.

In San Francisco no less. Dunno why but for now this one is sticking with me.

  46. erose says:

I believe I was incorrect about Pierre being the youngest brother, as he was the second son. I relied on the succession of Mimi’s obit.

  47. erose says:

A smooth, graying patrician and millionaire Lee went through the exclusive St. Paul’s prep school and Princeton besides undergoing the proven Lee family raining. He wears his heritage like a mantle, yet he also carries it as a burden.

His political career has involved considerable personal and financial sacrifice, and only four years ago he wondered “how much longer I can take it.”

The father of eight children and grandfather of three, Lee has undergone the trial of losing his second son, Pierre Boal Lee, who committed suicide in 1973 at the age of 27. His eldest son and namesake, Blair Lee IV, broke the line of political leadership and dreams of holding office by giving up the practice of law and moving to a Virginia farm.

Except for his sister Elizabeth Scull, Montgomery County Council member, and his nephew, David Scull, delegate to the General Assembly, only Acting Governor Lee remains the heir to his clan’s political fortunes.

Interesting tidbit, such as the community chest, but his support of Scranton made me think he was a contemporary of Kiesling’s father. Will have to cross ref Kiesling’s work for Scull.

OT–well, more OT: If you search for ‘llama’ in amazon, under books, toward the end it brings up books by the Dali Lama. That’d make him pee his robes, cause he has a keen sense of humor!
