Jodi Arias Prepares To Die Or Rot In Jail For The Murder Of Travis Alexander

Phoenix, Arizona- Today began the first day of the first degree or felony murder trial of Jodi Arias for the murder of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

Arias is accused of viciously stabbing and shooting her former boyfriend in his home after a romantic afternoon which included footage of the couples rendezvous taken on Alexander’s camera.

Alexander broke off ties with Arias  several months before according to his close friends, but not so much- according to cell and other electronic communications shared between the two.   The phrase “He’s just not that into you” and Ms. Arias are apparently strangers.

Travis was a young and successful entrepreneur with a 5 bedroom home.  Arias was a High School drop out content to take pictures of the two globetrotting on Alexander’s dime.

Arias converted to the Mormon faith in her efforts to win the wedded affections of the handsome upstart she moved to Mesa from her hometown of Yreka, CA for.

Travis decided he wanted a Mormon do-over with a suitable young woman and asked Arias to move out.     Arias returned to her family home (or pretended to) and diligently stalked her way through waiting out the *friends with benefits* routine she was sure to cure Travis of.

When Arias learned Travis was headed to Cancun with a woman he had just begun dating it was clear Jodi was not fond of giving up what she considered her earned frequent flyer spot.

Maria Hall was the first witness for the prosecution.  She testified that although she went on a few dates with Alexander, there was no spark for her and the two decided to vacation as friends.  She was made aware that Travis had a female stalker who slit his tires but never knew her name.  Hall ultimately called police after not being able to reach Alexander for days and she and two friends who had the garage key code found his body.

Images of a deceased Travis Alexander depicting 27 stab wounds and a .25 gunshot to the cheek were seen by the jury while Arias looked down dabbing a tissue at dry eyes.  Alexander had a gaping hole in his throat from ear to ear.

With a palm print made in blood and hair belonging to Arias in blood at the scene,  one would have thought that would have been enough for her to admit her presence to police.

It was not until the images of Travis’s camera, where one can see a shot of the ceiling one second and the next picture shows him bleeding and Arias attempting to drag him,  did Arias update her version of events.  The camera was found in the washer with the bedding but the SD card was unharmed.  The pictures were recovered from the unallocated space indicating Arias had deleted them.   There are pictures of Travis Alexander’s lifeless body including defensive wounds.

It is believed Arias shot Alexander first,  rendering him mostly incapacitated as he tried to fight off her knife attack, although the prosecution has seemed to change it’s earlier findings on the wound chronology.

She now claims she killed Travis Alexander in self defense.  I want to personally thank her for not accusing George Anthony of finding Alexander in the shower and claiming he was dead from some lethal water pressure mishap he found online surfing the web.

This woman,  the prison caroling songstress of 2010, will have all the permanent acoustics she can handle.

And Ms. Arias can mark my words on this.   You are never getting out of the joint alive.   You know what? I don’t think you care in the least.    At least your crazytown azz does not have to watch a kind and successful young man struggling with the application of his fundamental religious teachings while you invade the mans doggy door and squat at his pad while he is out trying to earn a living.   You just swapped one prison for another.

    Joan – even after the tires were slashed, her tresspassing, hacking accounts, maybe Travis felt if he contacted LE or did anything to secure his home and properties, it would just escalate the problem and make her more angry. Who knows, she could have made all kinds of threats. Just one “see, I told you I could do that”, could have been enough for him to think if he walked on eggshells for a while she’d tire of him? All I know is what my Mom always told me “pretty is is pretty does.” Everyone should always remember beauty is only skin deep. HolyMoley, what better example than this case.

    I really believe Jodi was looking to change her life. She found Travis as a very succesful young man with a promising future. He happened to be a Mormon. She met him in September and is converting to Mormonism in November ! That to me, could seem impulsive and another way to “catch” him. Maybe to Travis, Jodi looked like a good catch too at first. I believe the sex was hot and heavy which was difficult to resist, Mormon or not.
    Something, obviously went wrong with this relationship . Telling 3 stories and all the other lies told can negate the self defense story. I am expecting defense experts to vigorously attempt to plant reasonable doubt with the blood evidence. She may be saved from the death penalty, but no matter how you look at it Travis was killed in a heinous manner.

    Do we know if they were intimate before he was killed? Was Travis expecting Jodi at his door that day?

    If we connect Travis’ last blog about searching for a wife and testimony about Jodi’s sexual appetite, I can see a few things playing out.

    Did he tell her it was over between them or is it possible she read ‘the wife’ blog and learned she was not in contention as a future bride? Travis makes it rather clear she wasn’t in the running. He was looking for something meaningful based on particular values and qualities. Jodi wasn’t that woman or he wouldn’t have laid it down on his blog. He talks about a woman he hasn’t met yet but desires to.

    Why would he be in the shower when she’s there? She either put out and felt used, putting her in a killing state of mind *snapped*….hence the 3 weapons….OR she walked in on him with the intent to have some kind of confrontation. I’m not convinced on pre-med based on the severity of the wounds. Pure rage! I’m confused about that photo of him in the shower and his level of ‘awareness’ on being photographed.

    i hope i’m not being repetitive but I just wanted to hypothesize about how I think the attack began. The initial picture of Travis in the shower, the look in his eyes haunts me. I think that Travis thought Jodi had left and she completely caught him off gaurd in the shower. I’m almost picturing the scene from “Psycho.” He probobaly never heard her coming back in because the water was running. What happened after that, I’m not sure but I think he ran over to the sink and held onto the counter to try to catch his breath. I think she then shot him when he turn around from the sink and he stumbled down the hallway to where she slit his throat. It’s not like she could have held the gun and knife in her dominant hand at the same time so she probably had time to put the knife down, or in a pocket or something in order to use the gun, unless she had help… sorry if i’m rambling. This case just really upsets me.

    Studying shower pics this very moment in the trail. Zoom lens probably used. Different angles of him, in shower (left side/ right side/back). Witness says he’s standing in these photos. Water appears to be on the lens. Seconds between pics taken (date stamped photos). The one where Travis appears to be looking directly into camera…he may have been sitting according to witness (sorry, not sure who’s testifying). Jodi is hiding behind hair, wiping eyes and taking glimpses @ monitor.

    They were intimate before he was killed. They were broken up and having a sexual relationship. Travis e-mailed or texted jodi not to contact him ever again That was sometime in May. She travelled approx. 1,000 miles after that.She stayed with Travis knowing the next day Travis was going to Cancun with the platonic friend Marie Hall. She was taking pictures of him in the shower along with other sexual explicit photos. The camera was found showing most of all these photos. Jodi told 2 stories before the one of self defense. She had no choice, her hand print was found in Travis’ blood in the hallway .

    Respectfully, I disagree. I think becoming a Mormon was a step to gain Travis’s trust, deviantly. I don’t believe she was committed to the faith, but to a plan. Travis may have wavered or stumbled in his faith but in the end, his faith is what came between them. He picked LDS over her. She had no trouble turning it on hours after killing Travis. It would seem, despite being baptized in the faith, she wasn’t practicing self control or spiritual obedience.

    Spiritually, they were not on the same journey. You can’t fake your commitment to faith. If you don’t walk the talk, there’s no evidence of submitting to a new life and faith.

    Hello Blink and blinksters. Just observing JA at trial on YouTube, i notice she has a lot of issues with her hairs. It is surely not relevant at all, but it reminds me at CA. She had a lot issues also stroking her hair from her face and so on too. why? When we observ her attorney, she doesen’ t. She is focused on her tasks. Is it so important for this girls as how they are looking ? I trink they are really living on an other planet!

    Joan, the drawing of the hands holding the baby feet is interesting in that it appears to have sulpher 8 symbols on bottom of the baby feet (y’all know what sulpher means!) very well done, by the way! also she has various drawings of same woman with different coloured hair, and different astrological names…..drawing all of her various personalities???? OT…anyone know…did Jodi have a baby? ever?

    Did he make a mistake and give her a key and then fail to change the locks?

    We certainly cannot believe her multiple stories as to what happened. There may be enough evidence in her various stories to put together a time line of events.

    Waving back to Ragdoll. Your idea that she accepted the Morman faith without intent of following through may have merit. Was she just a gold digger looking for a “sugar daddy” and he discovered her real motive? Short term relationships that allow sexual contact right away do not often end well.

    The photos show neither an abused girlfriend nor a saintly man. As a result, I doubt the home-made erotica will affect the outcome. What they do, however, is divert attention from the facts of the case which may be helpful to the defense.

    The two “accidental photos” will likely be helpful to the prosecution, although to be honest, I can’t make much sense out of the screen captures I’ve seen (screen caps of video or prints made from the original files).

    It would be interesting to know if their are other pictures on HER camera at home, or on the PC’s of either one of them. Photos such as those would possibly tell us much more about their relationship. The crime scene photos I have seen do not show a tripod, Therefore, even though the camera would have various software tools to allow self-portraits, it would be almost certain that the victim took the photos, which is not something I would expect from someone trying actively to end a relationship – “I’m going to break up with you, but let me take a picture of your goodies first for old times sake.”

    I don’t think she did that with the sexual images- I do think it is possible she did for those starting in the shower.

    Jodi knows what these photos show she was there she deleted them – I agree there are many ways to interpret what is shown in these photos- what if during the defenses case both are depicted differently… Will this effect the outcome of the case?

    I am thinking perhaps… except Martinez did illustrate by dropping the camera ( is that the glove dont fit moment? )that the time of the camera dropping did not take 45 seconds and there is blood-

    How did Travis go from a docile man taking a shower to then sitting /crouching position in such a short time to “lunge” at Jodi in a “rage” for dropping the camera that hadnt even “landed” yet… KIM according to the defense she shot him first thereby reaching a gun aiming a gun and shooting a gun before the camera even hit the floor and she turned found the gun- aimed the gun and shot Travis in the head from at least a foot away …

    then as the next pic was taken 45 seconds later both are on the floor then Travis recuperates enough to get up and fight with her in the hall and “scuffle” with her in the bathroom where by suddenly she has a knife and the gun is never used again? And then the knife attack begins… Where he defends himself by holding his hands up…gee with all that blood from his gun shot its odd that he could get up then see much of anything let alone continue to “attack” her in a rage..

    That all just seems Impossible

    Seems to me- Travis would have been VERY afraid of the gun he was afterall just shot in the head- he knew she had no qualms about shooting him to “protect” herself right? why didnt jodi just point it at him and threaten to shoot again if he didnt let her leave? why not use the gun to call police or an ambulance..

    Travis your shot in the head..if you come closer ill shoot again – I am calling the paramedics… Or that knife why not just stab him once and do the same thing?

    Instead according to the defenses opening statement jodi shot travis in self defense-

    she stabbed him including in the back and behind the ear and in the heart and in the abdomen and she continued in self defense to slit his throat

    instead of running to call police or running screaming to a neighbor Oh my God i just killed the man i love help me…She proceeded to wash down the bathroom & the hall she did the laundry she deleted photos She stuffed Travis’ body in the tiny shower after rinsing him off she cleaned herself up -she changed her clothes then she left the little puppy dog alone with his dead master and was on her way..stopping for food and texting her new prospective boyfriend and at no time did she call police

    no instead when she was pulled over by an officer in Utah– she calmly explained her predicament as gee officer im sorry my plate is upside down…see these pesky kids committed a crime which put me in this position – Im a victim but she never once broke down and said officer please help me- I just went through hell I am a victim my friend my lover I killed him in self defense— help me…

    Think of how scared and nervous you are when you get pulled over- Jodi had no way of knowing why that officer pulled her over…did she break down and ask for help no – she never did

    MY 20 year old grandson is visiting and he is currently reading the book of Morman to get a better idea of that belief system. I think it is time for me to do some investigation.

    I also think at this point he was using her and she refused to go any further. Since I believe she wanted a relationship and may be a sociopath, it made her very angry to discover that her plan had not accomplished its goal.

    Hi, Ragdoll, actually I do agree with you. I didn’t comment in detail. I do believe jodi wanted someone like travis, in a “golddigger” fashion. and that she converted to convince him of her sincerity, even though she was not. In wanting to change her life i believe she didn’t have a good one and didn’t have the drive to change it. I think at first she probably fooled him. I also believe he made a mistake in the sexual relationship. We all make mistakes, and I do believe he did want to be a pure, moral person. I never thought she was sincere.
    I am hoping this jury doesn’t fall for this self defense theory. She came to his home with weapons.I don’t know how the defense can get past that. She was safely hundreds of miles away. Why would she go there if she was so scared of him ? Ican’t buy it, again I hope the jury doesn’t.

    Georgia Dad, your statement about the victim taking pictures of Jodi is, imo part of the defense’s strategy. I don’t buy it, but the defense is trying to use anything to make Travis look bad. On In Session, the panel is discussing this subject of the pictures. The opinion is the photos could work either way. Surprisingly, a defense attorney thinks it is more favorable for the prosecution. Considering opening statements, the defense wants to show Travis abused Jodi. They also want to show Travis was so persuasive he talked her into these explicit photos. There were many other explicit photos taken during their relationship according to Jodi. Why would she drive hundreds of miles if she was abused, controlled and sexually humiliated ?

    According to her defense Travis used and abused her and he manipulated her.

    Who was used and abused who was manipulated Travis is not here to defend himself-
    All we can rely on is our interpretations of their relationship and of course her words many of which have been proven to be lies.

    Mormans believe in forgiveness- repentance- How can Jodi repent if she does not state her sin

    She said in her police interview if I killed him I deserve to die I will beg for the death penalty- yet here we are— she now claims it was self defense…How convenient.

    Travis sinned it was a grievous sin but you know what Jodi was not his judge jury and executioner –

    Jodi took away his chance to repent.

    I really hope the Prosecution can overcome this urge to over sympathize with jodi and see her as a victim.

    IIRC Travis was a virgin when he met Jodi he WAS a very devout mormon He loved his faith

    Perhaps Travis may have thought he was putting a stop to the fornication by Jodis entering the faith or at least trying to put as stop to it?

    regardless of the sexting or the pics or the sex it isnt always a clear picture of the workings of a relationship in fact it becomes even more complicated when religious views are a factor- IMO

    Think of teenagers- we teach are children not to have premarital sex- some of us for religious reasons some for health reasons but we also know that with sex comes many feelings and situations and concerns that they just may not be equipped to handle on any level.

    after having sex in a mistaken heat of the moment some for the first time- it is not unheard of that many a person has regrets or have new concerns –

    many cant understand why they are now expected to continue having sex –they mistakenly believe that their significant other would be fulfilled- and they would never have to have premartial sex again until marriage- it just never crossed their minds that now it would become an expected activity, nor do some of them expect it to be a progression…

    Some werent prepared for the needs and wants that would arise in themselves after having sex they didnt know they would enjoy -it for some it becomes like an addiction -for others it becomes a way to feel love or accepted-

    If the sex is “secret” sometimes the only other person that can truly know them is their partner so they feel they have to continue the relationship because nooneelse can possible understand…

    Some think it is safer and not against their religion or less of a sin to engage in oral or anal sex-
    Sometimes though their partners were never satisfied they expected more they pressured more and some may go as far as to threaten them with outing their previous activities – whether it was some form of sex or fondling etc-
    They are caught in a catch 22 they are too embarrassed and ashamed and some even scared to be “outed” so they reluctantly agree – they continue to be held hostage to their partners needs and wants- some long after the “relationship” has ended, and still otehrs constantly graple with their own needs…

    We cant know what any relationship is like and we cant begin to know what a person is feeling or dealing with in the alone times or the quiet moments ..we cant know

    Is Travis to blame for his brutal murder even if he in the moment enjoyed the activities …is he less to blame if afterward he felt guilty and Or dirty and degraded and used ?

    Is Jodi less to blame for his brutal murder because Travis baptized her in his faith and allowed her entry into his home and they both as consenting adults engaged in sexual activities even if she felt dirty and degraded and used afterward?

    The question isnt whether or not Jodi is the killer its whether or not she killed him in self defense

    The trial is still going on we havent heard all the evidence yet- we havent heard both sides…

    I just wanted to say that I know that touching one’s hair or face is not necessarily a vanity thing, it is a self pacifying thing. People touch themselves to re-assure and calm themselves. That said, I do not know if this carries over to the psychopathic mind (which I strongly think JA is).

    I’m with you John. In my opinion this girl went to Travis’ home to seduce him and talk him into staying with her, or taking her on his upcoming trip. And he took the bait. Except when he was finished having sex with her he said “no.” I think this is what enraged her enough to murder Travis. He had used her one last time. And she went there prepared for his “no” answer. Premeditated murder. Noone should die in this brutal manner, but this is just my own opinion regarding her reason. Sort of like “if I can’t have you, ain’t nobody gonna have you!” AJMOO

    Really? When I was in high school my extremely conservative church’s youth pastor showed us all a video about how evil Mormons allegedly were and the blood sacrifice was a major part of the video. Several former Mormons talked about attempts on their life and people they knew who had been murdered after leaving the fold. If I recall correctly it only happened to people who were really high up in the faith and who were believed to be leading other people astray. There was something about some convoluted theology where only spilling the defector’s blood would make it so that they wouldn’t go to hell so killing them was actually for their own good. It was called “blood atonement.” Not that I believe any of that, of course. I’m just surprised no one else had heard these rumors.

    In her police interview she says I feel responsible indirectly for his death…as if to say someone killed him because I was there because of what we did… because of our relationship but it wasnt me…but then she us right back to saying she wasnt there…

    Dear Blink and blinksters. I saw the pictures JA took with her camera at the crime scene and i am schocked. I was wrong about my thoughts where the attack begun. I thought it begun in the bedroom but that is wrong because of the frame of time between the last picture from Travis alive and the one being shot after or while the killing. She begun in the bathroom he tried to escape into the bedroom and they went back to the bathroom. He was killed so brutally in a lapse of a few minutes. It is so ill and crazy what JA did to this man. I really don ‘t know how she did this in a such a short frame of time but at last i think it does not matter to not know.. She is guilty of this crime and no way in selfdefense. The only interesting aspect for me is to know if premeditation and how far did premeditation take place. I hope i can sleep after seeing this pics :( wow poor Travis

    I don’t know…I think Travis had plans for writing a book and being/becoming a successful/respected businessman and member of the community. Sure, I can understand wild, unbridled sex – no big deal. The pictures though – I just don’t see him voluntarily participating in that bedroom photo shoot. Everyone knows pictures like that can fall into anyone’s hands. They could have possibly ruined his reputation. Those expressions in the shower haunt me, too. They make me think that nut could have been holding a gun on him making him pose however she wanted. Anything to sully his reputation. She’s just scary as hell.

    @ Jane, I agree that the shower photos appear that he is under duress. She may have been holding knife or gun on him, he probably thought she left, she was dressed. Perhaps she came back into the bedroom with weapons, surprised him in the shower and forced him to pose as a source of humiliation. Also where did she clean up? He was in the shower and she would have been quite bloody herself. Did she shower with his body in an effort to “clean” him up too.
