Kyron Horman Missing Case: Terri Horman Breaks Her Silence In People Magazine Interview

New York, NY-  For nearly five and a half years Terri Horman has refused to speak publicly about her step-sons case.  Outside of one assertion of her innocence while on the stand in a name change hearing she ultimately was denied, Horman did not speak to any reporters or answer any of their questions regarding Kyron Hormans disappearance. Until Now.

Horman courtesy of People

Horman was interviewed by People Magazines Elaine Aradillas for both the print and online editions,  and will be doing a series of personal interviews over the next week, to include

In the brief online video excerpt , the second part to air on ABC’s Good Morning America Friday morning,  Horman  maintains she is deaf in her left ear, a critical factor in the outcome of her first polygraph.

“… At what point are Kyron’s biological parents going to realize I don’t have the answers, they need to change this thing around…”

“…There is so much the public is not being told about this investigation, that’s why I am doing this- nobody is looking for Kyron…”

Horman’s interview drew sharp reactions from Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, Kyron’s parents.

“…Why is she silent for 5 1/2 years if she is innocent.  I want her to tell me where Kyron is.  If she is innocent she should call Multnomah County Sheriffs Office and sit down for an interview…”-  Desiree Young

“Hi friends. Yes I am well aware of the tabloid journalism piece in the media today. FYI – there will be more of the same coming Friday
We have a HOST of MCSO and FBI investigators STILL standing by with interviews and polygraphs when someone actually wants to cooperate. FEEL FREE TO STOP BY THEY ARE WAITING!! STILL!! Until then we’ll stick with the scores of people with valid/accurate information and the failed polygraphs as the only actual actions taken to-date.  To all of you: how about not linking the article/interview?
REMEMBER KYRON?!?!? This is what we need to be focused on!!
Love you Kyron!!” – Kaine Horman post on his Facebook Page

Christina Stoy, Editor In Chief was able to confirm with Ms. Horman directly that she has been willing to meet with Kyron’s investigators both previously and in the future with the sole provision that it be conducted in the presence of her Attorney,  Portland criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze.

Horman went on to say that investigators with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office have been well aware of “that” over the last five and a half years and they have never requested an interview.  Um, What?

Horman reveals some shocking details about the subsequent polygraphs examinations referenced by Kaine Horman and Desiree Young and other allegations of improper tactics on behalf of MCSO in the second half of her interview to air tomorrow morning on abc’s GMA and on Nightline.

Don’t apologize for wasting my time. It took all of ten minutes to find the referenced portion of law. During the search, I found some other things of interest.

I read your reference for the AG opinion and it does not specifically address anything except qualifications for the office of County Sheriff and how two sections of previous legislation could be read to conflict with one another.

I still don’t like the concept of having a County Commission with the authority to appoint the Sheriff. State law requires an election for sheriff and home rule counties should not have the power to override state law in that regard. Having the authority to extend the state qualifications for sheriff is perfectly fine.

Perhaps what the investigative commission should be doing is to remove the burden of running a large county jail operation from the office of Sheriff leaving the Sheriff with just law enforcement and public safety issues.

Where is the county auditor and county treasurer regarding budgets and operating funding for the Sheriff?

  2. MockingbirdSings says:

Rookhuyzen spent six years as one of the dozen or so people working exclusively in the WCSO’s Child Crimes Unit, investigating cases just like this.

“I think it shocks people that we have more people working on child abuse matters than we do robberies, homicides, burglaries, property crimes,” he added. “It is a huge issue here.”

He says, at a minimum, parents needs to be friends with their kids on their social media platforms, and regularly check-in on what they’re doing and who they’re talking to.

He also says online predators don’t need weeks to groom your child – it only takes a matter of hours.

“I’ve had hundreds of cases involving child victims over the last six years and many of them involve same-day meet ups,” he said. “So it can be that fast.”

    Read more:

I wonder if many parents realize how fast it can happen – you have to check on your kid everyday, not once a week or whenever you happen to think of it.

    I doubt many.

This is a conversation that starts early and continues with monitoring. My kids have not always been fans of our approach, but they would tell you they live in “Mom’s cloud”. It certainly does not take the place of vigilant observation of all of their e-world and devices, but setting the precedent that all e-devices we provide fall under the “non expectation of privacy” is helpful.

  3. Rose says:
this is a bit instructive re County processes in the investigation of elected officials.
One just substitutes Sheriff for County Chair.
Madkour’s advisory clients are both the govt entities and employees acting in their official capacities.
She says the Board can’t tell an elected official what to do (and that elected officials are on salary only),
but she had advised the Board a majority could retain an independent Counsel in the matter.
That’s analogous to hiring an indepent auditor. Next thing she knew the Sheriff and DA had instead
done a letter fo the Oregon DOJ, criminal division. Getting to be a habit of Rod’s with elected officials?
Also, the press had reports she was conducting an investigation. She denied that and attributed the story to some press statements of some Commissioners that were inaccurate as to her work.

  4. Rose says:

Madhour also says, I think, elected officials aren’t subject to the County proscriptions that employees are, and iirc it was unlikely she’d find wrongdoing as to Cogen for several reasons. Sandhas was an at will employee. Perhaps some leave violation could have been unearthed relative to her. She says HR for the Depts usually do that type of investigation. (that’s Ott with Sheriff) But when the Sheriff & DA referred this Cogen-Sandhas to the OR DOJ it was pretty clear there would’ve been no criminal violation found. So why’d they jump the gun and not follow the City Attorney’s advice to the Board ( you can hire an independent counsel)? Ditto for Sheriff.

So to give a perspective- my interview/update piece on Kyron’s case to include Terri Horman will ultimately take at the very least, months less than anything that has been published to date. Respectful reminder- this is an open criminal investigation of a still missing child with more moving parts than I can even say.

I have thought that since DY did not see Kyron on a regular basis as he was growing up that she thought of him as a baby as he was when he last lived in her residence. Since he did not grow up in her presence she still saw him as a baby. The other cause could be that something bad was happening to Kyron while he was staying with the Youngs that made him fearful. Or It could also be that DY was so overprotective of Kyron when he stayed with DY that he picked up on DY’s anxity and it made him fearful in her presence.

Next time just spring a surprise interview on we faithful ones…..

My concern is that while Moulton-Horman wishes to advance
the investigation, she & hers should be fully protected,

In the meantime, bios have had nothing to say to advance the Hirmon investivation

  9. Rose says:

@cd. so happy to see you.
I don’t think Lindstrand got that police jazz from Desiree as she

  10. Rose says:

@Blink. it sounds like yr TMH interview is only a part of your case update,
whose ambition is to advance the Horman investigation.

All I can say is there is little way to achieve the latter as long as Staton and his synchophants are in office and investigation control, and there is no way to be perfect. I sense you reach for a nicely tied package of all you have llearned and wish to convey. Imo there is no need to do journalism perfection (and you could never live up to we posters’ own high opinion of you anyway.) imo Just protect the interviewee(s) legally & otherwise and let it all hang out. You can cure any untied pieces in comments later is my nonjournalist/noncriminalist lay suggestion

    Thank you Rose.

  11. Rose says:

So imo in both the Cogen-Minhas issue and the Sheriff workplace issues, imo Madhour’s advice to the Board majority an Independent Counsel was apropo was sound, and Surely Rod would know thatt. So why in both cases did he solicit an ally to co-refer to Rosenblum’s DOJ a criminal thrust? Seems overkill. And he shoukd’ve been deferential to City Atty imo.

  12. Rose says:

@cd. One wonders what Kelly saw hm as then.

  15. erose says:

In 2007, partly in response to Giusto’s troubles, Wheeler pushed to take power from the county sheriff, whose budget of $90 million composed about a quarter of the county’s overall budget but received little oversight from Wheeler and his fellow commissioners. (Giusto famously dismissed the commissioners as his “bankers.”) Wheeler wanted to make the elected county sheriff an appointed position, a move that would have required changing state law.

Wheeler left county office in 2010 without securing a change. The Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association panned his idea, and the citizen commission of volunteers tasked with reviewing the proposal balked.

“I ran up against everybody,” Wheeler says. “I was completely alone.”

  16. Rose says:

One sees how Underhill and Staton arrived at formally asking Rosenblum to do an investigation of Cogen on July 24.

It was because on July 23 the Board majority issued a statement indicating they (planned to follow their City Attorney Madhour’s advice) to appoint an independent counsel investigator.
The Commissioners’ Statement does not say it could be the OR AG. That’s the interpretation of the reporter who works for Ellen’s husband. Madhour told the OR DOJ telephone interviewer someone apparently in ber office was feeding a lot of inside info to the press.

So Rod’s quick action, using the Sheriff to buttress his request, to keep Cogen within his own State prosecutorial system before criminal violations had any probable cause (which an independent counsel could have found, then referred to AG) was imo an effort to take the power of appointment away from the Commissioners.
In that case it took Ellen & Co 4 months not only to declare no charges but to effectually clear him.
By which time he’d resigned 2 months before
Likewise, Rod acted quickly using Kafoury to bring Staton under the State prosecutorial system. After the Cogen experience, Staton has learned this Rod-AG exercise is a better route to clear his name than the Commissioners appointing an independent counsel and auditor.

    • Skyline K-8: due to its remote location

A Washington County man accused of planning to meet a 15-year-old California boy for sex was arrested last week at the Portland International Airport, deputies said.

David James McHarg of Aloha, 57, was charged Thursday with first-degree online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor, court records show. Washington County sheriff’s detectives assumed the identity the 15-year-old boy and had been communicating with McHarg online, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

I literally do not understand why any Judge, or frankly Therapeutic professional can believe a pedo can be rehabilitated. To date, you will not find in any case study, or empirical data a successful therapeutic protocol successfully rehabilitating a pedophile.

    And this comment:

I’m intimately familiar with the 2009 case. He was given time served, plus five years in an intensive out-patient sex-abuse treatment program as part of his probation, with successful completion of the program as a requirement. So Underhill did his duty and Ellen did her duty (snark) with Staton on Feb 5.
So if the State AG follows the Cogen investigation timeline, 3-1/2 months, that puts clearing him of any State law criminal violation at about May 20th, just after the election. Seems designed to impact the mayoral and commissioners’ races. Tho, iirc, it’s an election year for Gov & AG.

  23. NelMel says:

I have to stop wondering and overthinking on a few points about this saga of Kyron’s disappearance.

First, a DA who has to shut down his FB page rather than deal with a completely psychotic crazy woman who has amassed a following of drooling pit vipers as sorry excuses for “crusaders” for Kyron cannot convince me that he’s good at his job.

Why is law enforcement allowing this nut case to intimidate a District Attorney, for cryin’ out loud? It’s as if LE just wants this evil woman to destroy TMH so they can wash their hands of the case. If I were DY and KH I’d shut that abomination of a “supporter” down and be in Mark Zuckeberg’s face about why his FB has permitted her to stomp on everyone as if she’s the final say on all things Kryon.

EXCEPT, no! DY and KH are cheering her on. By allowing this mentally unhinged woman to terrorize anyone who disagrees with her, I believe now that neither one of them give a damn about finding their son. It is only about destroying TMH. There is no way that any parent who wants to find their missing child would allow a monster like the broad behind Kyron’s WS to bully everyone like this. More and more I have to ask both of them — do you, DY and KH, have ANY plans in the future to snap out of your own hatred long enough to find your child?

These people are insane. DY is insane. KH is insane. LE and DA in MC are insane. Everyone has lost their minds. No one is looking for Kyron. These flaming idiots on FB page after FB are posting Kyron’s baby pics. That’s intelligent! Get all visitors to the page to look for a cute baby who is actually now 13 years old! Great idea!

What the hell is going on here? Remind me to never go anywhere near Portland, OR. Sorry if there are any locals on this blog — if you are here I am truly not insulting you, but I’ve just about lost all patience with Kyron’s case. A law enforcement agency, a district attorney, and the biological parents of a missing (now teenage) boy have simply handed this case over to a FB psycho who no one dares challenge because they have already seen what she’s done to TMH and no one wants her to do it them.

Does no one have the balls to stop her? Is everyone’s ego so huge that they cannot cope with the need to admit they were wrong, and take the case in another direction to FIND KYRON?

Rant over. (nelmel stuffs all the shells furiously with spinach and cheese soaked in a Spanish red table wine and..)

  24. A Texas Grandfather says:

    Rose et al

When there are so many areas of question and deliberate misdirection as we have found in this case, I would think it would take a lot of organization and planning to write a good narrative.

One of the things I once taught field engineers to do was to evaluate accurately the actual job progress for a week. Some would have fifty percent of the work complete when the actual amount was perhaps twenty-five percent.

I like Blink’s “Moms Cloud” approach to managing children’s electronic devices. All children and youths who have access to phones and other devices provided by parents need to understand that the real ownership is mom and dad and further that he or she who owns sets the rules for their use.

  25. Rose says:

One needs an Oregon nonprofit legal specialist, but it seems to me a lay person from cursory reading online that Oregon recipient donation solicitations, particularly across state boundaries, need the disclaimer the donation is not STATE tax deductible in Oregon. Oregon law does not regulate Federal tax deductions. An escape hatch appears to be very small donation solicitations for a particular need. That suggests to me 2 things: 1) Kaine by his work to get and maintain 501c3 never intended a small nor a short term charitable enterprise. 2) while Desiree’s (Ramirez/Soldier and associates) solicitation results are indeed small, her achilles heel is the solicitations have gone on longterm (6 yrs) and are ongoing, openended imo.

Imo Mayor is a placeholder for him until Brown uses up the Governor’s Chair.

Since he is motivated to be such a fine Mayor, the next Statewide race is an inevitable win,
imo Portland would fare well .

On June 4, 2010, Kyron was brought to school by his stepmother, Terri Horman, who then stayed with him while he attended a science fair. Terri Horman stated that she left the school at around 8:45 a.m. and remembered seeing Kyron walking down the hall to his first class.[4] However, he was never seen in his first math class; instead, he was marked absent for the day and has not been seen since.

Makes it look like his business was a front, and someone with an entity like mcso, or a paralegal,
was doing episodic posts to make it look like a going concern–until that case was over.

OMG yes it does. And not just a movie, but a mini-series. Wow.

  39. T. Ruth says:

With the derogatory remarks Staton made about Underhill, and depending upon who was there when he made them, my guess it was more than just the complainant, as Staton settled, so I’m guessing at least one other witness to said remarks, I would not be surprised to see this DOJ investigation an attempt by Underhill to throw Staton under the bus in regard to Kyron’s case. (Have I already said that? if so, I appoly.)

Also, I think Staton using the term “someone will be capped” is the reason this went before the DOJ. He certainly wasn’t referring to a dunce cap, that’s a serious accusation for a Sheriff to be making. JMO.

  40. Rose says:

Iirc Ramirez or Young said they read and approve all Soldier’s site posts.
That is, Soldier = a surrogate.

In that case, given Soldier’s continuous pleas for Godfundme $, and account open for 6 years now,
it is my slsuggestion the principals (Ramirez/Daviddon) consult a local tax attorney regarding a 6 year continuous campaign without tax disclaimers, as this effort presents as an ongoing enterprise.

It would be easiest to close out that gofundme campaign (leaving the record open online as a legacy),
and open a new campaign (same site, different campaign goal).

I humbly suggest funding a credible licensed private investigator would bring in
more donations than a sister-planned search.

  41. Rose says:

so with her usual profane speech, illiteracy, and verve, Soldier has proclaimed this site’s participants have declared Terri innocent of a collusive capture of Kyron. I have never read that opinion here. Questioning minds have asked Who What When Where Why? Where is the evidence? Why is she not charged? Given MCSO’s cronyistic dysfunction and internal rivalries, the not-charged has been booted up from that agency’s very questionable ( all documented) employees to the DA, one of which Soldier as Young surrogate imo targeted, but she failed when he pulled his FB site. The DAs and employees in question wrt charging TMH include Schrunk, Frink, Underhill, Rees, none ever afraid of a fight, even a specious one. And they pulled the plug on Soldier, sending a message.

It’s also good for restricting social media sites to hours at which you can be checking over the shoulder without warning.

I’m sure there are other similar programs/services, but this one saved the day for us.

Here is erose’s work of yore on the Sanchez’;wap2
Looks like Maria & Ubaldo had a nursery supply business dating to 2005
anyway in a County where similar type businesses had untoward “supplier” ties
amongst their personnel. Landscape maintenance such as Rudy
advertised did not require a business
registration in Oregon. One wonders why his
business shows up online in 2009, spiffed up with “bilingual” and
work reviews–that ceased in 11/13. Imo his approaches to work for Terri at the Horman home in Nov 2009 and later
may have been his first undercover sting–perhaps to discredit her in the steroid sales report she made
“anonymously” to a Cojnty detective. Had she responded to seduction overtures, was he to plant drugs on her
    property, her car, her person?

  45. Rose says:

Well, WW has kept that “diss Wheeler headline”
up top for 5 days now with very little in the way
of news. no real political news.
    Is Jacquiss on Spring Break?

    LOL, good one.

Blink, Can you say after doing the interview(s), if you have come away with more insight or if you have only confirmed what you already knew.

It was a very well phrased question on your part, btw. :)

Interestting thought, never went there. Hmmmm? I’ve always been thinking if this was not a perfect stranger abduction, then who was and would be owed the most favors to get it done and why? Who could pull off a stranger abduction if it wasn’t one? A housewife taking care of three kids never made sense, although I suppose anything is possible.

First, a DA who has to shut down his FB page rather than deal with a completely psychotic crazy woman who has amassed a following of drooling pit vipers as sorry excuses for “crusaders” for Kyron cannot convince me that he’s good at his job.”

    Clap, clap.
I believe his joint referral with Kafoury to Ellen, which imo is sure to exhonorate Staton (the public not realizing it’s only as to State criminal charges & likely will mistakenly think it also covers torts and Federal issues) is an attempt to control the political narrative and to whitewash Staton because each and every day he relies on MCSO deputies to bring, and testify in, criminal cases, and he must preserve mcso’s public credibility.

It is election season; that was an election FB page. He had to pull it.

wrt “If I were DY and KH I’d shut that abomination of a “supporter” down and be in Mark Zuckeberg’s face ..”

Remember one of the Davidson’s said they read and approve all of her posts. She is their surrogate and fundraiser. She has done nothing more than follow Desiree’s lead in stalking Terri physically at her home in Roseburg for the cameras. Stacey’s is all trained and role modeled behavior by Desiree.
As to Kaine, one of Kristen’s writings last year referred to him as her “former boyfriend” when looking back at the time of her child’s first seizure earlier in 2015. Prior to that, her 2 older daughters called him her boyfriend in their tweets.

What man with an abducted son and a bitter divorce and custody battle ONGOING, & building a 501c3 charitable enterprise, who refuses to let his toddler child see her mother under supervision even, moves in a foundering (work and housing) “girlfriend” from another State with 3 then minor children without an ongoing commitment of permanency his daughter and those girls can rely on and take to the bank? What an object lesson for his child.
    @TRuth. season 2.
The drama after the abduction has had more moving pieces than before it or the act of.

    the Families
    1) Youngs
    2) Desiree’s extended
    3) Kaine’s
    4) Kaine’s extended

    the Courts
    1) Meinheimer (& retirement)
    2) Chief Judge Appointer of Kantor who had no family court time previously to our kniwledge
    3) Kantor

    the Investigators
a circus of internal mcso conflict where the greater the inexperience, the more it seems the employee has Staton’s backing

    the Charities

    the former household
    Transient livein girlfriend with children

    The Landscaper
    Sting, Translator bit part, depo

Strangers are solicited by bio parents to become Actors
    Run charities & fundraising
    Run FB followings
Run Mother and a single Christian acquaintance out of town, out of jobs
Seek media following in the press, on TV news

  49. Rose says:

The current Portland Police Chief has a solution to the State-mandated, Legislature-appointed Citizens Review Committee: just boycott it and don’t cooperate. how he can oreclude what officers do on their private time is beyond me.
The “lack of safety” is a croc because after all the Sheriff and his associates have been prominantly present.
This can only be prior restraint of speech of his officers.

    will absolutey revolt, lol
