Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes
I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010. Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past, I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another. This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases. I am proud of that. I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.
Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom, Terri Horman. Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey. Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child. There are dozens of sources, collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.
Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did. I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping. Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode. When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her, I most certainly respected that. I still do.
While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure, I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth. There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions. Not what I signed on for. A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience. He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.
I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil. I appreciate your patience and your understanding. Feel free to discuss the show below.

I have a very simple answer for you Melissa- because in over 6 years, Terri Horman has never once been asked to meet with investigators. Not once. I don’t know about you, but that question is one for MCSO. Terri Horman is willing to meet with investigators at their request through her attorney at any time- they have not asked her.

Seems clear after they broke up in 12/14, Kerin disclosed to B Wlliams.
Unbeknownst to him, Marshall did too & suggested he inform OGC.
He didn’t inform on tge 2 of them.
After a ouple montgs, when nothing happened to Marshall, Kerin wrote DC himsslf and the
S— hit the fan. A triumverate of her DC supervisors called her and grilled her on speakerphone,
blindsiding her. Not a good way for her DC Supv to proceed initially. Whatever unrelated issue
DC interviewed her about re Kerin in 8/15, that she told him he needed a lawyer for, I assume that was his reason to bed her, then get rid of her. Iirc he was taken off Drug prosecutions about then.

Alexander provided a statement from the offices of the county district attorney and sheriff, as well. It reads, in full:
“Kyron Horman’s parents and members of the public should know that the investigation into Kyron’s disappearance is active, ongoing and includes a recent search effort. Ms. Horman has an open invitation to speak with MCSO.
“The Multnomah County District Attorney’s was in contact with defense attorney Stephen Houze earlier this week and was advised that he continues to represent Terri Horman. Mr. Houze requests no contact with Ms. Horman by law enforcement absent his authorization and her consent.”
Sure. When my office and then subsequently Dr. Phil’s producers contacted MCSO and the District Attorney for an official comment re some of the statements made by Ms. Horman, specifically, that in over 6 years her counsel nor she have ever been contacted for an interview (and provided many, many direct quotes and statements from Ms. Young and attributable to Mr. Horman suggesting she “will not” meet with them or “that MCSO AND FBI investigators are waiting to speak to her” ) this statement from Capt Alexander was the response. Let’s break this down. When I tried to verify it – it turns out it is absolutely NOT a joint statement at all, to include the DA’s office, and nobody there is even owning that comment in the first place. Yes, that’s correct- I don’t know if it was intentional BS or what, but I can tell you unequivocally that Mr. Houze has not been asked to schedule a meeting for MCSO or the DA to interview Terri Horman to date, period. Feel free to not take my word for it and call MCSO and MCDA and ask yourself.
Let me repeat this part- MCSO nor the DA has requested an interview with Terri Horman since June 30th 2010.

This is About Marshman, selected for Chief in part bcz he’d been PPB’s liaison with DOJ to implement remedies ordered in the DOJ caseagainst PPB, calling in the regional Joint Terrorism Task Force LE assets to “restore and keep public order. That brought in PPB & swat teams of ppb and I expect mcso (jails on alert), hsa, local DA (prosectors ready to charge), FBI and so on. Mashman did it to intimidate the Council with his JTTF powers as much as the demonstrators imo. And he succeeded. He’s a weak Chief who needed to deliver this contract for his Unions as Wheeler woukd’ve been way harder to negotiate with. This was as much an act to bring the Council into compliance with ppb as the drmonstrators, and it worked. I suggested he was doing on a public institution scale what he did with his stepson at home (beat him).

All this noise about the handling of a contract with City Council is exactly why Government entities should never be allowed to unionize.
The people loose the necessary input and control when a union represents government workers. A union and a company makes sense as the two parties can negotiate on an equal basis. The government is for representing the people and the people have a final say. To push them aside with LE is government attacking the people.
It is nice to see Melissa here, and with a different quilt color than purple. I think her question is common to most lay people who have no legal training or professional experience with the criminal justice system. And, the Alexander statement would be entirely believeable when on its face it was clear when mcso released this, making Underhill look stupid (what was it Staton said about Underhill again?) when it was untruthful BS as to the DA. The DA knew if Houze was no longer repping Terri, Houze would send him a copy of his letter to Terri withdrawing representation. Any DA knows they cannot contact any person of interest who has engaged an attorney without going to and through the attorney. Or it’s a Bar violation. Underhill doesn’t wantthe incompetents at mcso to get him disbarred over this case.
Moreover, no LE would ever seek to speak to a person of interest (formal or informal one) without their lawyer present. It would RUIN their case. So this talk on the hater crater and by Desiree of TErri just dropping in is so far off the mark, if she did that, whatever deputy she meets at the door better put her in a cab to fetch her attorney.
It’s also not how the process works at all. Unless MCSO is corrupt as hell, and it may be, every deputy who wants to interview a represented person as a matter of course….the ordinary course of business….picks up the phone and calls their attorney and says bring your client it, I can make it on x y and z days and times, how about you? this is done is all criminal investigations. To pretend Terri is a special case goes against routine mcso policies (I hope policy is codified for these deputies that is.)
I remember the senior project about 2009 a Caitlin Gabel girl wrote up from “riding” with a river patrol deputy. He told her he would teach her how to interview a criminal. He went to the man’s home, picked him up, and drove him to an “office” at the river patrol location. I don’t recall how much of the interview she sat in on, but it was a joke. What the deputy taught her was how never to handle criminal suspects (ie ride ALONE in the car with them to haul them in to talk).
I don’t think people who read the hater crater from other areas know how poorly mcso has been run for decades and that it is more common than not to violate ordinary criminal procedures. I bet DA Underhill wanted Staton gone so badly, and has been one of the few to endorse M Reese for Chief, not because Staton made fun of him and called him names, but because mcso deputies have screwed up the prosecution of cases for him he would otherwise like to have brought.

I think Houze is telling MCSO that If they want to schedule a questioning session for TH then he (Houze) must be present so MSCO cannot question TH without her attorney present. Since some of the past interview methods of the DA and MCSO have been questionable in this case (the landscaper Rudy being a prime example) I don’t blame Houze for wanting to protect his client from MSCO. Without her lawyer at the interview MCSO could hint to the media that TH made statements that she did not make or lie to and or threaten TH in order to get her to say what they want her to say.
If it was me I would not go anywhere near MSCO without my lawyer. They have lost a lot of face over this case and are desperate to say they have a suspect. MCSO also believes that using the media to try and ruin TH’s life as well as keeping her away from her daughter will somehow reveal what happened to Kyron.
IMO MCSO is not interested in questioning TH if her lawyer is present so after checking with her attorney to see if they could side step him and finding out they could not MCSO has decided that they do not want to question TH.
The assertion was that a member of the DA’s office contacted Houze, not MCSO. I can tell you without reservation that if true- and as I said nobody is owning it, that a member of the DA office is completely capable and aware they would need to request an interview from ANY represented persons Atty. The follow up should be- why would a prosecutor (say as opposed to an investigator from MCSO) be reaching out to Houze instead of MCSO in the first place? The last time anyone requested to speak to Horman outside the presence of her Attorney and that was granted, was Norm Frink. He threatened her. He made good on his threat. Not sure if anyone has been following CA law lately- but I expect similar legislation to hit most states- It is a felony to commit prosecutorial misconduct. Be clear- this will dramatically change the face of criminal investigation and prosecution in this country.

I don’t think the folks on HC understand criminal procedure. No one goes to a PD with or without their attorney and says “I want my interview.” a Law enforcement officer has to contact the person, through their lawyer if they are known to have one, and ask them to come in. That is just the way the system works. Desiree knows this with her husband’s job. I can understand Kaine’s naivitee about criminal process and investigations, but not Desiree’s. So the question is, why is she deliberately misleading simple goodhearted people (despite their profanity and vulgarities and lack of knowledge or desiring to find it, I would like to think they are well-intended followers of Soldier) about ordinary investigatory processes? (On the other hand, it’s kinda like teenagers from Wisc flying to Syria to follow the head of ISIS). Can’t they see Soldier and Tom are mentally ill?
Nothing–not hopefully former medical issues, not her hatred and jealousy of Terri over Kaine or Kyron’s closeness to her, not vindictiveness fully explains her chronic dissemination of untruths and misleading the public over simple matters like alluding that it is desireable and would even be wanted by mcso to interview Terri but Terri refuses.

I would also like to add that DDS(2013) went to MCSO the testified before the Grand Jury for 5 hours and then took and passed a Lie Detector test given by MCSO/DA ( and believe me if she would have failed the LDT she would have been charged with lying to the Grand Jury). It has not made any difference in her life as far as stalkers and media abuse is concerned. So I can’t see any reason why TH would ever want to talk to MCSO without her lawyer present.
She spoke to LE, sometimes for up to 10 hours at a clip, for an estimated 60 plus hours in June, 2010. Not one time did she ever refuse an interview or say, an FBI agent with her 24/7. No less than 5-6 DA members or cops at her home all day everyday as well and these “professionals” are no closer to finding this child over 6 years later.

I am not sure how long you have been reading here, so I don’t want to assume that you know that MCSO has been a real shit show under Staton’s regime, and he “retired” this year under the most dubious circumstances. If you go back thru the previous threads on Kyron you will see the systemic corruption in the agency. Or you can google his name “Dan Staton MCSO + lawsuits or + whistleblowing, for example.
This makes people like me wonder why the biological parents of Kyron have not come to their senses about how poorly handled their child’s investigation was, (as exampled by how poorly Staton did his job in general) and why they, and only they can demand the case turned over to another agency, like the FBI, who is equipped to disseminate fact from rumor and local speculation in order to find out what happened to Kyron.
A child went missing from a public school, on a day when strangers had opportunity to come and go freely and without accountability. For six years people have gotten no where closer to finding this child, but continue to blame his stepmother and where are we? Not one step closer to finding him.
Where is your concern about the school’s accountability for Kyron’s disappearance? Where is your concern about the corruption of the agency that investigated his case for six plus years? Where is your concern about Kyron’s biological parents not holding the school or law enforcement accountable? I wonder if people really want to find Kyron, or if they just want to fry Terri?

Essentially it is Oregon law every interview at a police facility MUST be electronically recorded.
That means if the interviewer wanted to lie again to Terri, he does not want it on tape.
There are exceptions.
The exception fitting here is (2)(e)
“A statement that was spontaneously volunteered and did not result from a custodial interview;”
Now mcso cannot contact Houze or Terri and ask her to come in. because
If they did it would not be “spontaneously volunteered” and recording = a requirement.
So I expect mcso dictated the language to bios of what to say and how to pressure Terri so she’d just
spontaneously volunteer for an interview to clear herself as Desiree suggested would be the result. How devious of mcso to front the bios to chide Terri into volunteering. The fact mcso has been geared 6 years to set up Terri to escape this must record mandate is ominous for her. But Houze knew this statute and is requining mcso to call her in so her interview is not a voluntary no recording is necessary exception. Reminds me of the Michael Cook shell game.

Thinking “out loud” here: Multiple witnesses in multiple locations see Ky with SZ. He’s not worried about being seen and/or he’s got an alibi for after he gets Ky secured and/or outside. Plenty of folks must be aware of these sightings, because how the heck would this stay quiet for so long? How has it not been leaked? Weird.
Then “Terri was the last to be seen with him” repeated over and over and over by the media. Was SZ working with someone that could be confused with Terri? I know we’ve thrown that spaghetti against the wall, but I never put too much stock in it.
Terri, have you heard anything on a possible description of SZ? Were you asked to help in the putting together of the list of attendees at the science fair? Do you know/did you see anyone that day that resembled you?
My kids attended a similarly sized El Ed school and if asked to list who I saw there on any given open house-type day, I would find the task incredibly difficult.

Council Members had issues with the Black Lives Matter people speaking at the previous council meeting and forcibly removed some speakers, concerning the discussions about the Police Contract by the mayor. (The contract isn’t due for renewal for another year!)
This Council Meeting was to approve the Police Contract. They had that huge show of force, when LE discovered before the meeting, people planned to hold a ‘sit in’ protest at the City Hall. A lot of citizens were not happy about getting booted out of the building, not just the BLM folks. Even media was shoved out (as you can see in the videos).
Ok, so what was the policy violation? On what grounds could LE take such measures?

In a rational Council meeting, irrational disruptive individuals would be escorted out by staff or security guards.
There were no policy violations. iirc at the first such CC mtg on the Contract, the Council eliminated altogether a previously scheduled period for Public Comment on the Contract. That angered those who’d planned to testify, so some commented out of order when the PC period was eliminated.
Swat teams and 70 riot gear officers = an operation of the Joint Terrorism Task Force at the request of Marshman to restore public order, but these protestors are too poorly led to realize actions of the JTTF in a setting crying out for the Public Comments the Council barred on the proposed K was in this case the public’s opponent. This incident tells me this Council and Marshman are oerfectly willing to omit ordinary government process when self interest (a raise to win over his employees’ hearts) is at issue.

One of the posters on Stacey’s WS Facebook page ask why LE did not just give Terri immunity so she would at least say where Kyron was so he could come home. Stacey’s answer was never. That says to me that the purpose of her WS Facebook page is not to bring Kyron home but rather to exact revenge against Terri. I mean as long as they are making Terri and Dede miserable who really cares where Kyron is.
So not only is Stacey not interested in where Kyron might be She really doesn’t even care about finding out what happened to him. And Stacey has the nerve to repeat over and over never give up. She gave up on ever finding Kyron long ago and is now only interested in blaming Terri, exacting revenge and promoting her Facebook.

just out of curiosity did all of these people have to go through the metal detectors scanners to get into the Portland city hall? Or do they not have scanners and metal doctors at the Portland city hall. I haven’t been there in a long time. Maybe they all fit in the portion of the room in front of the scanners. My point is couldn’t all these people making noise and trying to squeeze into the city hall constitute a security risk for people working there. Maybe thats why in the street was tolerated but inside city hall was not.

Your reply to Melissa raises a question about the bios and their concern or lack thereof to not give up the effort to find Kyron falls primarily on Kaine Horman. He is not an ignorant person for if he was he could not have held the job at Intel. A concerned father should have given MCSO ninety days to get some leads and then forced the agency to turn it over to the state police or the FBI.
IMO there two reasons that he has not done so. First there is some possibility that Terri exposed his steroid use and perhaps some in the MCSO employees and Two he really wanted to get rid of Terri for exposing him and Kyron’s abduction provided the avenue of blaming her for the event. Kane with the help of MCSO worked the court system with his lawyer to make it impossible for a fair hearing and judgement regarding the divorce. Thus, Kaine did not have to pay child support, just as he figured out a way to not pay it for Kyron.
In addition, LE and the court system has made Terri’s life painful and even prevented her from obtaining work.

So without knowing more, I’d be for JTTF’s as making collaborative sense. Except in Portland, Hales the Swing Vote just politicized the JTTF to deal with a political issue after shutting down routine council meeting public comment.

Find out who physically took him, and then see if there is a trail that leads back to TH. So simple really, Focus on the abductor which we know from witness accounts and her alibi could not be TH. Right. This leads me back to Kaine’s (what I consider) true statement about “there is something LE does no know, someone else involved”. Was it short on clarity and did he miss the boat when directly asked about “an unidentified man”? Yes. He had motivations to keep the focus on TMH, imo.
Point is- as I have been saying (and reporting) for years, it was KNOWN to investigators since the early days of investigation that Kyron was last seen with SZ. Last seen by multiple witnesses, but moreover, the verified timeline, and when I say verified, I am referring to MULTIPLE verifications of the recorded variety (not just witness) showing Kyron did not leave with TH, was seen by multiple witnesses at the school (Kyron) after she left and LE has zero doubt Kyron did not leave that school with TMH.
Ergo, any theory of her involvement (which obviously lacks any evidence but since when does that matter to the angry villagers) has to start with that fact. Someone removed Kyron from Skyline – and it is a physical impossibility that it was TMH. Why wouldn’t the focus be on identifying that individual if the singular goal is locating this child?
Add to that- we now have a contemporary example that Desiree Young knows well (and has met his Mom) of how misdirection and poor investigation efforts and skills can protract an investigation for decades, stalk the wrong suspect and allow a dangerous criminal predator free to re offend. Question one that I have is, wouldn’t the IB person doing the reviewing be there on THAT day when a bunch of parents and siblings weren’t running around? If so, why would Keefer not be?

If I were Kaine Horman’s grandfather my advice to him would be to quit being a hard headed fool. It is time you did the right thing regarding finding your child. You lost him because the school people didn’t properly protect the children in their care. That is the point of beginning in finding him, not in a divorce court in an effort to punish Terri for a selfish motive.
You and the lawyers, LE and the court have enabled you to destroy the relationship with Kiara’s biological mom. Someday she may learn the truth and when she does the child is going to make you responsible for for your acts. This could forever distance her from you and make her disown being your child. Are you willing to loose all your children? Kyron may are may not be alive. You nor anyone else can solve this abduction and know for certain unless you change your behavior.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about entrance/exit designations as North/South/East/West. Since descriptions of various exits Kyron might have taken or might have been seen at were the perception of the describers, we may never know which exit they were indicating without more detailed information.
In the images below I think it reasonable to describe e2 as South, e1/e7 as East, e8/e9/e10 as West, and e3/e4/e5/e6 as North. I suppose one could say e2/e1/e8 are all South exits as they are south or on the south end of the East or West walls. A bit more obscure would be describing e8 (and e9/e10) as North since given the actual orientation of the school they are facing more North than South.
I rotated the first image below so that vertical on the screen would be very close to North-South.

The “south” entrance is through the front doors to the school. The East entrance is to the parking lot that the busses would come in to, and a SZ leaving thru this door would have to walk past the main office. The NORTH doors, however are in the back of the school. One “north door” is in the middle of the school and would be between Kyron’s room and the Main Office. It leads to the playground, the basketball covered courts and some north parking spaces in front of an out building. Another NORTH door leads out to the same are thru the gym. A final north door, closer to the soccer field leads into the same areas thru the mechanical wing.
A car could have been parked in that area once the 8:45 bell rang an might be unnoticed. The busses would have been gone by 8:45 and many parents would have left by then.
I will send you some pictures of these doors.

Probably other folks here can answer this better then me. I gathered SZ is male and does not stand out from other Science Fair attendees. probably 30′s middle class dress. if there is a more detailed description I don’t believe it has been revealed here or by LE. And that is if the person he was seen with was SZ.
