Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes
I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010. Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past, I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another. This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases. I am proud of that. I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.
Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom, Terri Horman. Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey. Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child. There are dozens of sources, collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.
Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did. I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping. Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode. When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her, I most certainly respected that. I still do.
While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure, I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth. There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions. Not what I signed on for. A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience. He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.
I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil. I appreciate your patience and your understanding. Feel free to discuss the show below.

DAD drove an SUV too, sort of a silver green 1984 Dodge. Sheesh, the co-ink-i-dinks. There was one report out there that had said it was black, it was not. How messed up can reporters be? The dash cam video from Dodds, looks silver, though I’ve seen it listed as green in color.

The first part of your definition I agree with. However, the last part or illustration of activities fits “rulers law” or alt left.

I did decide to check out Bing’s latest images of the school and found the pictures were taken on a day when all of the fields surrounding the school and sports field were being mowed. This activity probably happens two, maybe three times per year, likely to decrease fire danger. This was probably contracted out and not done by Portland Parks personnel. Also, while Stensen used a mower system to provide smoother cut for the athletic field, the outer fields were probably mowed using a brush hog to deal with rougher ground and generally uneven terrain.

In looking up Stensen information I came across some videos from August, 11-13, 2010 that were interesting with respect to the TMH’s truck placement and where Stensen parked his truck and trailer during his August 12th mowing session.
First. Did Anna Canzano go out to Skyline on Thursday the 12th to provide an onsite video story relative to the August 11 press conference and just happened to find Stensen mowing the field, then got the interview? Or?
Canzano showed her interpretation of two positions of TMH’s truck shown at the press conference, then pointed down the athletic field track with a culmination video shot of the exit next to Room 109.
The video showed that Stensen’s truck appeared to be a white 4×4 standard cab. It appears to be parked on the track at the north end of the athletic field. The trailer is in the “down” position indicating he unloaded and loaded the mower at that spot.
For what it is worth, I think Stensen varied the direction of his mowing on each visit, and mostly made full passes back and fourth as opposed circling, starting on the outside and working toward the middle. This is probably standard practice on such fields to make for a better playing surface. Just so happens Google captured images of the area on August 14th, just two days after he probably mowed the field. The images show a diagonal cut. I have seen other Skyline field images with different mowing directions.

Interesting. Never thought to consider the possibility that TMH parked on the shoulder facing east. We have only seen images of her truck facing west, in which case she would have had to turn the truck around and then pull onto the shoulder. If the truck faced east, when it came time to leave she could have just backed the truck onto the access road a bit then made a sharp turn west onto Skyline Blvd. That would have put her truck into the position Neighbor was describing, except it would have been about 8:50 instead of 8:31.

It is quite intimidating to post at this late date with the very thorough research, investigation and various scenarios explored at length. I seem to recall Blink stating the mower guy was ruled out very early. In this groups fervent effort to review all possibilities I am seeing more and more posts recently detailing this mower guys movements. Could it be something so simple as an accident, then panic on his part? Some info suggests that our Kyron was for some period unaccounted for, out the door to help carry something in..Kyron wanders, mower guy injures him or worse accidentally. He realizes his deed goes unnoticed, panics, removes Kyron from premises. So begs the question..any place mower guy might go/live/pass could be location of our young frog expert? Forgive me if this is too naive, or simple minded, but sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees.

You are correct about Bing using aerial photos obtained from low flying aircraft. Since Blink suggested that I investigate using Bing in conjunction with Google Earth to examine areas of interest,I have been doing research on Bling and how they produce images.
The angle of the camera on aircraft at low altitudes affects the clarity of the photos. Bing uses a 45 degree angle for that level of photos. However, their upgrades recently have been about using satellite images with some new digital filters. Bing appears to have done a good job on color clarity on both types of images. They also seem to have solved the problem of parallax that film cameras and lenses have when photographing tall structures.
I looked at the type of equipment in your list of photos and it is a garden size tractor with a 60 in. cutter assembly. Not at all suitable for cutting the steep slopes from the West side of the school down to the soccer field. The brand appears to be an old commercial Torrow mower, but the clarity of the photo was not good enough to read the label on the front.

Your reply and question regarding the blue truck referenced by Tzad made me question the color as being something other than white. If it was a male that made the reference to color, then my first question to them would have been “do you see color well or do some colors give you trouble in accurately recognizing them”?
There are many more men than women who have difficulty seeing color or shades of color. Some do not want to admit that they have a difficulty and will devise a scheme to depend on brilliance to determine a color that they are not sure of. This often leads to stating a color that is something different than it is.
You know, looking back, I think Stensen really never changed his story. I think when the reporter first reported his account the reporter simply left off the “around 8:30 or possibly later” part. I can’t find the first report to link to to see if he actually said 8:30, or if he added anything to that, such as “or as late as” xxxx. Does anyone remember if there was actual video of him saying 8:30? The printed report from KOMO news is still here, it just says he “said” 8:30. Anyway, I think he just got more specific, thinking about it after being interviewed by LE & DA, it would have also had to coincide with when the children came outside to look at the flower beds, and that could be why LE questioned him again. Does anyone know what time the kids went outside?

So, if that was normal stuff for him, to load and unload the mower down on the field, why was he parked in the parking lot? If he had to retrieve a key, one would think he would park on the access road, walk up to the office and then proceed through the gate to the field. Rather than hassle turning around his truck and trailer in the parking lot. Sounds to me like it was NOT his truck parked on the access road, because he would have had the trailer on it. So who parked on the access road in a white truck? Whomever it was it had to be after he was down on the field mowing, and they had gone by the time he was done. Or it was parked there AFTER he left. How long would it take to mow that field? I’m thinking about an hour? Answering my own question:

If neighbors account is accurate then, Stenson would have been mowing the field and I don’t believe one can see the spot she’s referring to from the field. TMH would have been inside the school with Kyron. Whomever parked there, from what we know anyway, was there from at least 8:31 (per neighbor sighting) and left before 8:45-9:00ish, when Stenson left. Was it parked there even earlier? Do we know if TMH noticed this truck parked backed into the access road when she got there at 8:10ish? I am asking particularly because I am wondering if TMH was followed by this person, and this person after she parked, backed their truck up on that access road? If neighbor’s sighting is accurate, then wouldn’t this be considered possible exculpatory evidence, if no one ever came forward and identified this truck parked on the access road?

I had a newfound appreciation this week for how Desiree’s had/has a grief so profound that family and strangers (Soldier) could run amuck with whatever enterprise, and she’d be too numb to process it. Tho I don’t see how TH’s grief could be less than hers. Except TH’s role in the family was energizer bunny caretaker, which apparently she carried out til Ex took herbatteries.
After looking at the photos of the truck used by the person doing the mowing from Quizzical’s photo bucket links, there is not way that anyone that is an adult should have trouble recognizing the difference between them. This truck is an older model std. cab pickup with no cap that one sees on the bed of the Horman truck, The tires are smaller and I doubt that he parked in the parking lot when school was in session.
I am not clear on the property owned by the school district for Skyline school. The County tax office may have maps and pictures showing ownership that are available on-line. Has anyone found that info.?
Jeff D, I hope you keep posting. Nothing better than fresh thoughts to inspire. There is something about the timing of Stenson in the field and Kyron going to the truck around the same time that have given most of us pause for thought. I think that Kyron leaving the building with a man to “help” would have put any legit man responsible for Kyron’s safe return to the building, but stranger things have happened.

I just found it odd that both photos had a silver SUV in them, the school driveway photo shows zero other vehicles and the FM/Walker road photo shows only a silver SUV parked against the rock wall, where TMH allegedly parked that day. So I was just curious if it could perhaps be some sort of statement being made by LE, that’s all.

I am also very cautious about ruminations here as you know, but there continues to be the issues that for reasons we do not know, Stenson did change his original timeline and I am not at all convinced of what he may or may not offer this case as a witness. With the exception that where he was parked and his movement around the school that morning also corroborates TH and other witness accounts and timelines.

Back in the spring of 2011 we had some discussions about the silver/gray/grey SUV behind the bushes in the Skyline parking lot and against the rock wall at Fred Meyer Walker. I will bring my response to Lea Conner forward below.
It was/is my opinion that the SUV near the rock wall was not the same as, or particular similar to, a smaller SUV in the Skyline parking lot. However, the Skyline SUV was similar or the same vehicle as another SUV in the Fred Meyer Walker parking lot.
I tend to agree with TKG. The Skyline SUV was probably the photographer’s vehicle. I additionally think it was also in the Walker Fred Meyer parking lot. I would think photographer would not necessarily have to be driving a Mult. County marked vehicle. It appears the SUV at Fred Meyer Walker that is similar to the Skyline SUV does not have public plates which are typically mustard yellow.
I sometimes think, like others, that that place in the Skyline lot, behind the bushes, would have been a pretty good place for SZ to park a vehicle, possibly backed in, for a quick escape with or without a child depending on how enticing him/her outside proceeded.

It appears to me that the SUV depicted in the Skyline school south parking lot is not the same vehicle as the one shown at the Walker Road Fred Meyer rock wall. The SUV (#1) in the Skyline school lot appears to have a diagonal rear support between the windows while the vehicle (#2) at Fred Meyer rock wall has a vertical support. The Skyline SUV looks more like the closer Fred Meyer SUV (#3).

I feel compelled to re-post this in light of the current discussion about timelines and occasional mentions of Logan Storm. Please note my old comment near the end about teacher starting times – just because his school started at 9:05 does not mean he had to walk in the door by then. The obvious would be if he had a substitute, of course, but there are any number of ways he could have been late but unnoticed or not considered a problem.
If he had a first period that was for planning, or one for supervising something like the hall, playground, bus, or cafeteria and traded times with someone, or called with a “flat tire” and someone was asked to take over until he arrived – it would not show in the teacher attendance records at all. My PPS school was notorious for staff skipping the sign-in sheet in the office until whenever they got to it – finally one principal threatened to dock our pay if we didn’t sign in by a certain time. Very rarely was anyone not there, but it would have been easy to do. If LE didn’t investigate and ask for witnesses that LS was actually there down to the exact minutes, I doubt many, if any, would remember that specific day and time later. (A good reason to have school log on data saved.)
LS may have been at school all day on June 4th, but unless someone assures me they checked out what I know are the hidden possibilities and cleared him, I will have doubts. Of course, the same could be true of Skyline staff check-ins, given how lax that school apparently was.

The other picture on the blog shows Logan Storm working (or volunteering) at a children’s camp – perhaps Kyron attended a day camp or other activities where he was working?
When checking on L.S. on June 4th, T.Ruth mentioned his school started at 9:05. I’d also like to know when his planning period was. Sometimes teachers make an appointment in the morning and get there in time for their actual first class – or even trade with another teacher to cover their class. Depends on how strict the principal is about that. Just saying the starting time might not be when he arrived.
Since L. S. wasn’t reported to police until July 2010, left the country before he was charged, and was only recently tried and convicted, doesn’t this fit the description of something from early in the case that LE is now researching more thoroughly?

Anyone who’s followed recent press on the PPS BoEd dysfunction wherein one
paper (O iirc) wrote an editorial calling for the Chair and Vice Chair to step down from those roles knows in 2010 PPS and in particular their attorney Jolene W, now gone with Carole, would be actively covering up for any PPS employee suspect imo.
