Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes
I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010. Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past, I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another. This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases. I am proud of that. I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.
Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom, Terri Horman. Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey. Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child. There are dozens of sources, collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.
Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did. I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping. Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode. When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her, I most certainly respected that. I still do.
While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure, I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth. There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions. Not what I signed on for. A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience. He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.
I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil. I appreciate your patience and your understanding. Feel free to discuss the show below.

Thanks for posting harleycolt. All I can say is that if this were my agencies case I would be humiliated that my detectives are running up and down the coast seemingly, trying to engage other jurisdictions with useless allegations that once again are levied by the jilted attention seeker any self respecting journalist has known about since 2010. Maybe they are actually lobbying for a research grant to determine how lead in water levels is negatively affecting professional judgements. Seriously.

Hi, Harleycolt. idk what the “story” on kgw says, but there was a video on Soldier’s site of what appears to be from Kyle’s FB page, or perhaps a YouTube by Kyle going into at length (so long I stopped watching) how he came by and reported (word used loosely) this “story.”
Self-involved and narcissistic in tone. Explains to me why the Davidsons went silent on gofundme and Soldier’s site six months ago just after posting they’d have an updated pic, and why Soldier cleaned up her act, mostly, a month ago.
from my memory of four hrs ago, Kyle said he got a “tip” six months ago about this episode. we know who stays in contact with him personally by her history and who his previous story “tipper” was wrt TMH. Anyway, he got nothing publishable or that he considered verified. Then, lo and behold he got another tip a month ago. That timing coincides with Soldier’s very new publishing style…fewer, slightly more civil. So, imo second fishy tip timing.
#2 led to TMH’s age 20 boyfriend who hopped on board with Kyle’s story. What he recounted was he and TMH had generally broken up but hung out on a park bench during the summer when a man walked out of the woods or something to that effect aiming a gun at the ex BF. He stated TH said to him He’s here for you (no quotes in case I have Kyle’s details wrong in memory). IDK why she’d have him murdered in a public park in her presence, any MFH perp wouldn’t carry it out with her there. Or in public. At worst, she sounded like she had hostile feelings to the ex, not unusual in an age 20 girls.
Kyle then explained the young man’s corroboration. What Kyle considers corroboration. Young Man (called YM in future) recounted to him MCSO detective came to question him in 2011 because he reportedly knew Terri then. He told them that skimpy story. The detective responded a prisoner told the same story. Now, Kyle got this only from the YM, not from whatever MCSO detective spoke to him. So YM was corroborating his OWN story by telling another one to Kyle. And even if true, we know those mcso detectives lied with impunity to those they questioned (including to other school witnesses and the public as to who Kyron left with).
So it seems to me Kyle worked hand in glove with his tipper to publish a story sourced from one YM she broke up with when twenty. Pretty lame. In fact, if reporters were licensed like lawyers, clergy, medical personnel, teachers, he should loose his license to report imo.
It also sounds like Kyle is completely unable to evaluate his “tipper’s” motivation. both 6 months ago and at present.
I am quite sure “tipper” expects other unethical and incompetent reporters such as work for the Oregonian and in the Sacramento area to simply pick up his story and copy it as some O reporters and others have done with Kyle in the past.
The timing? The hearing earlier wrt the protection order in CA. And now? The looming trial in May. Nothing like generating bad publicity and headlines portraying TMH as a MFH gun freak just before a trial on the taking (or not) of a gun. Some people–the tipper–will stoop to anything to “get” Terri, like her correspondent, Kyle.

What a piece of fiction the linked story is. A man came out of the bushes carrying a gun with only two witnesses present. No report to LE and now being touted as something important in a case.
Anyone who believes this story is out of touch with reality.
Lead in water in the amounts found in the Portland schools is going to take a very long time to affect anyone’s brain or their other body parts. IMO it isn’t the lead, it is lack of brains in the first place.
Perhaps the video I saw might have been a Facebook live conversation about 3:15 pm which was advertised by kgw not long before his story itself published on kgw. He looked like he was in his office talking intimately into his computer, which I suppose is what a FB live video would present him like.
reflecting on WW’s last published story on Kyron, it seems to me anything Sam Adams knew about the investigation, he would have shared socially with R Meeker the then publisher. It is possible Meeker confirmed even then in 2010 that Kyron had left with an unknown male and the whole TMH thing was unfounded evidentially. Rather than publish that, he silenced the story imo.
Geeze Louise. If it was never reported maybe Iboshi can explain how Rosenberg and the DA are handling public records requests for non existent records. And then maybe Underhill or Rees can explain how such an accusation gets made to a grand jury which would NEVER be admissible at trial- that my friends is flat out unconstitutional under Oregon law. Not that it seems to matter to MCSO OR MCDA – with 2 failed grand juries under their belt.
Lastly- someone should ask what else Kyle knows about Steven Rea and criminal accusations made against him by LE IN 2010.

In fairness, I would add that if Iboshi chooses not to vet his “sources” and ends up injuring someone, Terri Horman has enough counsel to act accordingly. Mr. Rea appears to be familiar with law enforcement and all around criminal justice system so I presume he is knowledgeable about public statements, etc. In my personal opinion, he is probably lamenting his “interview” which because he was never quoted and wa all transmitted third party in the form of a summation KGW’s legal and compliance department must be on Spring break.

Sean or Steven Rea?
I’m undecided. Kyle did say there was a man, the man allegedly solicited by Terri to kill her BF in 1990 who is now in jail, he has apparently spoke to investigators. His story seems to match Shane Rae’s story. From what I understood that is the info the Roseburg DA is investigating. This does not seem to be new. IIRC someone involved in the Kyron case did mention plural MFH’s.
Pretty much sounds like what unfolded in 2011 was Rea sent someone his shabby story about his 18 yo self’s “ex,” seeking quick fame. (Why was she even dating an 18 yo at age 20?) From there a simple matter for the tip recipient to pass his details on to a motivated (to cooperate) prisoner. The stories “matching” over 2 decades later is pretty suspicious.
Remember Schrunk was DA then. I’m sure his great confidence inthis mcso-provided GJ witness and his story was due to his father’s primary career as Sheriff before becoming Mayor. His father ran mcso when it was noted nationally to be rife with corruption and hospitable to organized crime.
Which brings one back to whether elements of the County’s organized crime interests were involved in the abduction? A mob man in prison would cooperate for sure with mcso’s corruption. Let’s call it that, rather than mere incompetence.
this would be interesting: if mcda Schrunk had secured a wiretap on Pitkin back in 2010 to monitor his research and at some point asked Meeker to shut him down. A wiretap on any press members would be scandalous. Maybe mcda had sources & methods to bury too.

They have no proof TH ever mentioned an MFH to anyone 27 years ago.
The party claiming that someone showed him a gun never even bothered to call LE or report anything (for 27 years) he must have been really scared.
There is no proof of any monetary exchange (which is usually necessary for a MFH charge)
They don’t have a potential murder weapon if there was was ever even one. For all we know this was a practical joke done by a jealous boyfriend with a toy gun or maybe a finger point and bang bang.
The victim received no injury (for 27 years).
TH managed to graduate from college get married 3 times own a business and raise a son with no further interactions with the law.

The alleged plot occurred in the summer of 1990 when Terri Horman was 20 years old and Rea was 18. Rea said the young couple had ordered Chinese food and sat down to eat at park near the Horman family home in Roseburg. They were sitting on the grass for about ten or fifteen minutes when a man suddenly appeared.

If there was any proof of Kaines (retracted MFH claim) Th would have been arrested long ago.
I don’t think anyone expects that TH will be arrested or tried in Douglas county for this made up MFH crime.
I believe this is a blatant attempt to influence the California courts and jurors for the gun charge TH will appear in court for this May.
Hopefully her Lawyers will recognize this sham for what it is and get her trial rescheduled to another county in California to avoid this attempt at jury tampering on the part of Kyle Iboshi.

still reading back, this written statement of Desiree’s in Sept 2016–so it says exactly what she wants it to say–is remarkable for plainly stating two “basic facts,” both of which are discredited lies. 1) Kyron left school with Terri, 2) the old cell ping story from 2010 which was technologically analytically wrong. This statement was her response to Terri’s Phil interview. imo the October 2010 mfh “tip” to Kyle, who unjournalistically will not name his source, about Rea seems like her followup to the Phil gig as well.

I’m going to agree on the shocking part, but hold off judgement for now as to “why”. We are in fact hearing this third party- which also shocks me. In no set of circumstances would I ever make a public accusation based on hearsay and without corroboration of an independent source.

If law enforcement knew about this 7 years ago and it was in any way prosecutable then why was it not investigated and TH arrested when it came to light. Why would detectives in Roseburg not have been informed about this 7 years ago. Considering that the MFH claimed by Kaine did not have enough evidence to cause TH to be arrested why would any thinking person believe that an MFH from 27 years ago with no motive and no proof that that anyone was hired (other then the word of a convict) would be of interest to any DA. Add to that the supposed victim remains unharmed after 27 years. And why did the this guy not immediately call 911 about this ASAP.
The whole thing sounds pretty weird and probably sounded phony to MCSO when they heard this story in 2011 which is why there was never any legal action taken on this supposed event. I feel like DY is reaching for the last straw in an attempt to get her revenge on TH. Other then media attention I doubt this information will cause anyone to be charged with a crime.
The only other reason I can think of for repeating this BS story in the media would be to to make TH look bad before her( misdemeanor) gun theft trial.
Agreed as Kyle likes to wag the dog for sure. He will be disappointed to learn the status hearing scheduled for tom was postponed.

I always thot the murder case where Tony said he sat up front at
trial with the ADA getting a man locked up for life tho taking 2
trials to do so, no physical evidence, defendant appearing railroaded

Camas, Washinton is a small city of 20,000 from the 2010 census. It’s chief industry is a paper mill. The high tech sector has moved several small groups into the city.
The police department has three detectives, a Sargent and two of lesser grade. In their experience list, there is no mention of missing person experience.
The PR person may be affected by the chemicals and odor from the paper mill. It is across the Columbia river from Troutdale. Paper mills have an odor that can be smelled for 100 miles if you are downwind from it.
Worse than sour (hydrogen sulfide in) crude oil.
I am such a cynic, I have to know who these people are and when I see software I wonder if there is a connection to KH and when I see youth football coach I think Sandusky. IDK if this is the same Sean Rea making accusations against TH from years ago, I am just assessing my own objectivity.

Nice to see everyone, except missing Malty. My memory, won’t recheck and give kgw another click, is in Desiree’s interviews with Kyle published yesterday, she said LE informed her of this MFH in 2001 and she and Tony have been waiting for Douglas DA to charge her and have lost patience.
So, imo when she filed that spurious suit back in 2012 was it, it appears a reaction to being fed up that two DAs in two Counties would not put Terri in jail for her and make her talk.

I read yesterday Blink, I forget where, there was some Countywide audit of policies and among the depts. and among those with critical comments was MCSO but Reese was quoted as saying we’re fixing it or something. My memory is hazy. Of course he’s fixing it without his own Dir of Research and Audit being hired (at least on her Personnel PDF) or having replaced the lady auditor who was fired by Staton for a critical report.

I don’t know why Desiree keeps on as she does. Pretty much ensures if Kyron returned alive, Kaine with the sole custody he has would slap a no contact order on her until an emergency Court hearing could be had to regulate her contact and visitation. In his shoes, I’d ask only for supervised visits in a protected DHS setting with her and his maternal relatives and demand psychologicals of herself and her husband prior to visits commencing. And no contact orders on all of her associates, the Staceys, Greer, and so on. She has really dug herself a hole all the Kyles in the world would not be able to PR Kaine into doing what she wants.

One thing I’d like to comment on, is it’s not unusual to see people walk around with a hunting rifle/shotgun in Roseburg or any other town I’ve seen in Douglas County, especially during the hunting seasons. The report doesn’t say “handgun”. Just sayin’.
And if, IF, TMH really has been putting together MFHP’s since her early 20′s, she obviously needs to find a better source for her hit-men, as this was yet another failed MFHP. LOL

So this black widow wanna be is trapsing the Pacific Coast arranging hits on very alive people that never get reported until MCSO shows up with a threat to THEM, HOWEVER her criminal prowess developed to disappear her own son, in her constant care, baby sister in tow, and has stymied a handful or law enforcement agencies for 7 years. What I have verified is that Iboshi’s “report” is the first time Rosenberg PD ever heard of this. If anyone was investigating this in 2011 as Iboshi stated, it was not them. It was Never REPORTED to them directly. If you screen shoot the email image Kyle offers, you can see the response indicates same- it is allegedly being prepared for review by the DA for the first time, and the responder admits erring the DA ever had it. Do I believe MCSO/MCDA may have presented an unreported and therefore uninvestigated allegation (jurisdictionally) to a grand jury investigating a mfh and Kyron’s disappearance? Um, You betcha. That said, I don’t have enough info to expand on the “why” part to confirm or deny Iboshi’s account- and make no mistake- without so much as a quote or waiver- those are all Iboshi’s words as he contends told to him. Who does that? I digress.
From a procedure perspective, if Rosenberg PD ever investigated this allegation which is a felony, by law it must be presented to the DA with a status ( as in, unreported but alleged during MCSO case #…..) insufficient evidence, no witness, do not prosecute, etc. And I think we can all agree that investigations need warrants and clearly this means none were issued. Ergo.. Rosenberg PD is taking a criminal allegation from Kyle Iboshi as a third party outcry witness of his source. Did he assess Mr. Rea credibility or verify his allegation? No. Did DY? Do we recall what “they” are saying was known info as far back as 2011 being mentioned in either the civil tort or dissollution cases? No.
This poor child. No Mother and no child deserve the fate befallen little Kyron Horman.

I was looking at Kyle’s twitter and was surprised to find a tweet from Beth Slovic saying she’s being sued by PPS.
Interesting.
Here’s the rub:

I agree with this. Folks on paid leave is disclosable in any reg corp (maybe publicly held) and educators should be no different- an easy fix is to provide the requested list with a fat disclaimer that no conclusions could be reached about the reason for leave and personnel records are private outside of policy/statute without a court order.
That said- I am also a proponent of the exemption due to “great public interest” or “public safety”.
Hiring outside counsel to argue their point following disclosure of litigation seems backward to me- the reporter obviously has info she is trying to verify properly that PPS does not want public. Concerning.
