Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes

I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010.    Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past,  I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another.   This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases.    I am proud of that.  I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.

Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom,  Terri Horman.   Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey.    Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child.    There are dozens of sources,  collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.

Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did.  I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping.  Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode.    When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her,   I most certainly respected that.  I still do.

While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure,   I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth.  There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions.     Not what I signed on for.   A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience.   He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.

I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil.   I appreciate your patience and your understanding.   Feel free to discuss the show below.

You probably already got my gist via Blink’s reply, but I was referring to the alleged Roseburg MFH 27 years ago, that is apparently being sat on by RPD, (maybe just in in case Yuba didn’t work out).
    —————
I don’t think the Roseburg PD has any intention of trying to prosecute a trumped up 27 year old phony MFH charge against TH. I could be wrong but as I remember the citizens of Roseburg got tired of all of the stalking, news reporting, and general commotion surrounding Terri’s parents living there back at least 5 years ago.
i have always thought Terri moved away from Roseburg to spare her elderly parents from all of the stalking going on between Kyle Iboshi/KGW news and Soldiers crazies. These people were trying to peek into the Moulten’s windows, following them and taking pictures as well as just hanging around outside of the Moutons home.

    IMO
The 27 year old Roseburg MFH charge is right up there with the Arson charges threatened against Terri and/or her family back in 2010-2011.

    Yes ma’am.

“Our detectives and searchers are continuing to follow-up on many leads to include establishing and verifying information relating to Kyron’s activities prior to his disappearance,” the statement said.
A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday July 27, with Chief Deputy Tim Moore and Lead Investigator of the Kyron case Sgt. Lee Gosson.

    http://www.theskanner.com/news/northwest/8-news/7861-public-offers-their-own-questions-for-sheriff-in-kyron-case-2010-07-22
(The above presser never happened btw.)

    “Activities prior to his disappearance.”

Sorry to be bringing up such old news reports, but Blink’s got me wondering about Bobby O again, so is it possible Gosson
was replaced by O’Donnell because of Gosson’s belief in TMH’s
statements? If so, who was pushing the O’Donnell agenda? (which appears to be continuing to date)

Is Tim Moore still on the force? I can’t recall.

Gosson was ODonnells supervisor. He was booted from the Kyron case because he came to believe Terri was not involved and voiced that opinion to Staton. I have not seen him on the roster and last I checked he was not listed in PERS but was in “inspections” whatever the hell that was, lol. Fwiw, everyone I have ever interviewed who worked with him or knew him had great respect for him and had they been told of his “opinion” would give it great weight.

TY for links. After cancelling my subscription last week, I kept getting a canned renewal promo. links worked. I read more wisely than years ago. First I realized it was likely not under oath. This is not a verbatim transcript but imo a selective summary. There were details of responses and discussions omitted. There were obvious lies. While O’Donnel presents as emotional and impulsive, Ritchie presents as a dirt bag in the instance where he peer counsels an underling in the dept thru a 2 yr divorce while bonking his wife. I wondered but have not gone back to look for the full names of the 2 interviewers Parnell and ?. I wondered why politically this was in DPSS’ hands? Iirc Jeff barker beaverton was head of public safety commin the legislature, idk his tenure dates. But here’s the DPSS organization chart: http://www.oregon.gov/dpsst/docs/DPSSTOrgChart.pdf
Investigations (wrt professional standards) is a wee little tiny slice of the dept pie–down on the left.
So while DPSS was ostensibly checking Guisto’s fitness to retain his Sheriff credentials, imo tbis “investigation” enterprise was some politicos’ means of a “show” investigation which was really designed to bury the Sheriff & mcso’s problems. Putting it online doesn’t mean anything but tge show investigation is publically disseminated imo. If there was a real investigation of Guisto and the Dept, it would’ve been run by the US Attorney/fbi or State AG/investigators. with consequences for lying/obstruction of justice.

  4. Rose says:

Sounds like the Q is who was influencing Staton’s agenda that Staton would not listen to nor back his lead seasoned Sgt investigator? Apparently O’Donnell was just carrying Staton’s agenda out in his own ineffectual way. Two options on Staton: someone(s) external, or someone(s) internal to mcso. As to internal, his employees have said no one influenced him from Undersheriff Moore to Chief of Enforcement to head of Business Yankee to HR head Ott. I don’t recall reading anything in employee complaints tho from Wall, head of Investigations. He would’ve supervised Gossom; maybe he influenced Staton. And Krafve supervised O’Donnell. Maybe he influenced Staton. As to this accidental Sheriff’s external pressures to keep after Terri, the political would include Shrunk and Frink. The personal? The only oddity besides his car vanity was whoever oversupplied him “pain meds” long after his injury.

I think the overtime numbers came in, quite simply. I believe it was McCain (former Giusto admin turned counsel) who called into question the handling of the case via MCSO v PPB given the resources and demands on budget alone. Somewhere I have the contract details that indicated PPB was the first responders to school inquiries needing LE, but for all we know there may have been some sort of caveat re the unincorporated school districts in MC- I can only say I only ever found one article stating PPB waived jurisdiction to MCSO immediately- and I have NEVER found a soul that will confirm that for me on the record. I have interviewed folks who consented to have their homes searched, and allow LE to camp out in their driveways for hours at a time who were offering them refreshments, etc, bathroom facilities, and all the while the deputies were saying to them they were glad to have the assignment for overtime pay. No, I am not suggesting these are imps capitalizing on Kyron’s fate that day. The adage don’t hate the player hate the game applies here, imo.

With an exception we have all read about, lol- Olsen. Diana Olsen and her PERS prowess was also the head of MCSO SAR as their registered agent. Interestingly, although we all saw how a fund was created to aid them specifically, that “ORG” was NOT granted 501 c 3 status until 4 years later. And someone is going to need to tell me where this $50K reward is parked because I can tell you legally it cannot be within MCSO SAR or their postcard filing status is wrong. Also, prior to the status change, Mark Herron was made the President and RA. Yes, the SAR professional turned detective (by some means) tracking down people with any contact with Horman. The by laws actually don’t allow that- so there’s that part I do not understand to this day.

It is simply true that numbers tell part of the story here. I submit Staton pulled back from his last funding request as he figured this out.

  5. Rose says:

So maybe the Shrunk-Frink team, in the middle of a grand jury, had something on Staton to keep him on board the Terri train, and they requested a change of investigator to the manipulable Bobby. If they had asked DPSS to investigate the Sheriff’s “pain med” use imo Staton woukd’ve lost his credentials, because DPSS would do personnel interviews and hear all about his erratic behaviors, checked his pharmacy records, found his supplier(s). So that would be a real threat. At that time in 2010-11 Shrunk and Frink kept the focus on Terri. The question is why has Underhill not changed course?

Because he was involved. Even as an ADA at the time or CDA or whatever his status- HE signed the RSE immunity deal agreeing not to deport him as an example. His office will have this burden with no ability to pass the buck should this case in some manner ever be resolved.

(PS, I’ve got a post hanging out from yesterday.)

  9. T. Ruth says:

So, Blink, after my long drawn-out post from yesterday, I can shorten the question I’d like to have answered.

When did Terri tell LE about her concerns about Kyron’s behavior? The afternoon of June 4? or June 5? During one of those many hours of interviews on those days? Or did she not tell LE until later? Do you know?

It just seems to me if she told them on the 4th, or even the 5th then this whole case was handled extremely improperly from the very beginning. If there were ANY concerns expressed in the beginning by ANY of the parents (most particularly the one he spent more time with) that this child had been acting out some sort of sexual behavior, then this case should have been handled much, much differently. Don’t you think?

I mean we’ve always said this case should have been handled differently, secured school grounds, etc., but that was before we heard publicly from TMH in January 2016 about Kyron’s observed behavior.

If I’m a detective (not, but imagining) and I get that type of information regarding a missing child, of course I would still be doing a search for that child (SAR), but I also would have been putting every person close to that child through a LDT and looking up all their arses, not just TMH and/or the last known person to see him.

This change in Kyron’s behavior should have been the red flags people were looking at, not some email TMH sent out venting about her life.

I guess this whole thing, Ky’s prior change in behavior, this is what makes think this was not a stranger abduction. If I were to take the whole dr. apptment/eval scenario out and the email from TMH to a friend (who leaked that document?) describing some of his strange behavior, and TMH admitting some of it was also of a sexual nature, AND DY admitting on Phil that she noticed changes, AND KH admitting he noticed some behavior changes too, but thought it was lack of sleep………then I would lean toward a stranger abduction here. But instead we have at least 3 of the 4 parents saying their kid had changed (and possibly a teacher saying the same thing in a round-about way with colored behavior cards), and yet no one follows up on any of this? Instead LE all think this was a TMH crime to get back at her husband for some infidelity? How ludicrous is that? And how about James or Quinn, did they see any changes in their brother? What did they attribute those changes to? I wonder now if they were even asked.

Someone was steering this case away from its obvious course based on those facts, but who and why? MCSO, if they don’t want to pass this failed investigation on to the FBI(and I don’t see why not), they need to start over from this angle pronto, before much more time passes. Something was going on with this child and I just have a gut feeling that if they interviewed his inner circle, including his friends, they might start getting answers.

Sigh…..I can’t rule out a stranger abduction, but I can’t rule out his being previously abused by someone either, and since stranger abductions are more rare I’m sticking with the latter because that’s where this information points.

Yes, I know. No, I will not be more specific as to date/time/interview at this time past “in the first few days”.

If you can’t rule either out, investigatively both scenarios are “in”, or possible. I agree this case needs a complete and independent “do over”.

There is neither a logical nor reasonable explanation for that which would serve Kyron Horman’s best interests.
It seems nobody is willing to ask them those very relevant questions. Neither one of them ever so much as commented publicly on the fact that the Sheriff in charge of their sons case was publicly ousted, the lead investigator was demoted and pulled from the case over 5 years ago and that is just the start of the list. It’s a training exercise and saying it is Kyron related is window dressing for Sunday hours and the inconvenience to the property owners who don’t really have any other access in and out for about 8 hours. Will be interesting to see if anyone actually covers the activity.

TY TRuth for abc quotes of TH; I missed that. Sounds like there were 2 very different types of behavior changes which might or might not be linked. 1) some kind of sexualized behavior in the home of 1 yr duration leading the observor TH to think it was more than a 6 yo playing doctor or exploring & which might have been in her eyes a carryover of similar behaviors done to him. 2) specific spacey episodes of much shorter duration seen both at home and school which could have been complex partial seizures or simple ADD being observed as academic demands grew. . He needed an mri with contrast and an eeg to rule out seizures or brain cyst/tumor, I tend to buy ADD in the classroom of an inexperienced disorganized teacher. That doesn’t explain it at home tho. So in addition probably some unknown mental preoccupation bothered him during these walk in the room/walk out episodes. btw in a home wherehusband solicited kinky 3-ways, one wouldn’t be surprised to find a porn collection on a computer, which James should have been interviewed about to see if he’d observed any adult watching or accessing.

  18. erose says:

TRuth, If this was perpetrated by someone who knew Kyron, and was either grooming or abusing him, then I think you are saying the knowledge of the doctor’s appointment could have motivated that person to take Kyron. That seems like a fairly narrow list of people. If the person had no knowledge of the appointment, then it could be the end of the school year was the motivator.

I posted not long ago that my current opinion (cuz I’ve had ‘em all) is that this was a stranger abduction. One of the strongest reasons I have for that is TH’s thoughts on Dr. Phil about the man at the 7-11. She did not seem to allude to suspicions of a known predator in Kyron’s life. Of course, she could be wrong. She also thought her marriage was stable and I have often wondered if Kyron’s recent behavior was a product of an unhappy home and a desire to live with his Mother.

you make a good argument thou, so I guess we need to know who was on that very short list of people who knew about that appointment. Also, do you remember Kyron’s talent show partner who said Kyron was at the doctor’s? Where did he get that info? Porter? Kyron?

Oh that blasted Dr. appointment and it’s relevance to the victimology study has kept me up many a night. From the time we all heard it was a possibility, to the myriad of diluted references to it to “now” as an irrefutable confirmed “event”. I am sure somewhere on here very early I held the knowledge about whether or not that Dr. appointment was “true” was potentially a crux to this case. I cannot exclude that possibility except to say from the verified information I have- that would absolutely mean if the Dr. appointment became known and someone saw it as a trigger to abduct or harm Kyron- than it could have only come from Terri, Porter or someone at Ped.

I am confident it did not come from someone at the PED. I have not interviewed Porter nor do I know who she may have mentioned it to between the hours of June 3 and the morning of June 4th but I know she was never given a poly and well, he did go missing on her watch. Fact. For years everyone was led to believe that Porter was told about the Dr. appt on June 11 in an an attempt to purposefully “excuse” Kyron. Here’s the rub, Porter never once says she was ever told anything other than Kyron’s appt was on June 11 and she was going to commit her observations to writing in prep for that appointment- she openly admitted that the fact that she thought Kyron was with Kitty at HER appointment (which she did not have) was entirely her misunderstanding, period. Misunderstanding as a term here is a gift, imo. Negligence is negligence and fwiw she gave testimony that she formed that opinion erroneously on her own.

SO… there’s that. As independent as I can be (and I work very, very hard at it not just in this case) my vast interviews lead me to believe that Kyron was definitely either manifesting or acting out as a result of an issue- whether or not those behaviors relate to an unDX medical issue or some other outside stimulus, I can’t say. In my experience children are exceptional witnesses to their own truths if the query is positioned carefully and correctly OR in most cases if they are just asked plainly. Obvs I am not speaking about children that are suspected abuse victims.

You are correct that if the Dr. appt is paramount, it matters to only a person it (effectively or presumptively by them) could be tied to. I do not believe that 7 years later that piece of information (if true) could be completely unknown.

RedRose: great PR for mcso over a routine event which is instantly glamorized, and teen applicants and members motivated and given a purpose, by saying it’s “for Kyron.” cruel to Desiree, tho.

We’ve seen this year after year. A “Kyron search” to culminate 9 months of new member teen classroom training to get applicants Type 3 certified. Moreover, motivates furst-year teens to sign up for yr 2. After-school high school activies have 2 compete.

great work Ode. So if the Tualin Valley Water & 2 large uninc parcels on either side are near to the post- (or pre-) 2015 Hockensmith farm, then this training excercise, generating Sunday overtime for deputies involved, which imo was chosen to be called a “kyron search” for multiple reasons I suggested above, above all is a sop to Desiree and her belief in DDS’ criminal collaboration. mcso weekend (training) searches focused on Teri’s route and DDS’ work are the fastest and surest way for mcso to keep Desiree in their investigative hip pocket, all the while ensuring mcso does not really have to investigate. Right, I think sports and music. I am not sure what it says about me but I enjoy reading an actual paper when I am in a hotel or anywhere I cant use an ipad/phone. Or, at my Dads. I cant read on a train and I listen to audio books in the car if I don’t have to prep on the way to something. It is something that by the time it is printed- most of the content is obsolete or worse. Another reason I would have made a sucky print journalist, lol.

It appears that the Sunday search area is somewhat close to 640 acres lying West of Skyline Blvd to 128th Ave a distance close to a mile in a straight line (not following the road). Skyline is almost North and South at Sprinville intersection.

The terrain is mild with little change in elevation, a lot of open land and trees to the North. An easy search area.

I rather suspect that the Kyron tag given to the search is to attract more people to participate.

  35. Rose says:

” …I have for that is TH’s thoughts on Dr. Phil about the man at the 7-11.” Blink has said at times it is possible at some point the perp came to LE’s attention and tbey failed to adequately alibi him or explore him as a suspect. I don’t think Terri’s story about 7-11 man or any otber suspect signifies anything in the investigation other than as an example there are hundreds of folks with strange behavior in any city, because she is the last person LE would have talked to about any man they were ruling out.

  36. Rose says:

” A Multnomah County sheriff’s spokesman said investigators have no new information on the disappearance of Kyron Horman. The search is part of ongoing efforts. “This is a case very near and dear to our hearts and any chance we can get out with search and rescue teams, we do that,” Sgt. Brandon White said.”

imo how they keep Desiree glued to their agency. SAR.

I think your intel regarding the training stats and timing was spot on Rose. I don’t have any issue with them saying it is related to Kyron but without any intel or new leads. SAR training for human recovery and remains is critically important in that terrain. Yes, we agree that it seems DY is placated by search announcements which baffles me in the first place as she is adamant Kyron is alive.

TRuth, Have you tried Northwest 128th AVENUE as KOIN reports. Such a weird little avenue to name as a search boundary. There are two schools in the vicinity and a dance class studio, but the rear entrance to the Goddard School is on NW 128th Ave., everything else looks residential to me and NW 128th Ave is only two blocks long running between NW Forest Spring Lane and NW Millford St.

    http://koin.com/2017/07/07/deputies-to-conduct-kyron-horman-related-search/

The Goddard School is PK – K (6 weeks to 6 yrs). 400 franchised schools.

Makes me wonder if there was an owner, teacher or parent affiliated with this school that knew Kyron who was at the SF and returned there after 10 am.

Rose, You sincerely are a source of encouragement.

The parcel to the immediate right of 128th is muni owned (Tulatin Valley water) it is simply addressed NW Springville Rd. Fwiw, I have no reason to believe this is the case today, but I have been a party to designing and mapping search coordinates while staging a “soft search” elsewhere and alerting the press so as not to detect the primary search/recovery mission. There was a Springville Preschool at 13340 NW Springville prior to its sale in 2011 but one of the deeds to the property is labeled vacant and deleted so not sure in MC what that means exactly.

Thank God for all of you steel-trapped advocates for this little lad as well as other cases we have worked on, but I agree Rose has that unique gift of looking at an angle I did not. I have graciously learned so much from y’all along the way. Forever grateful xo

Yohe’s & has been on E County Major Crimes team, the unit that originally investigated and iirc Gosson was on.
Seems he jumped to detective from River Patrol in Oct 2010, the usual mcso detective training path. maybe he replaced gossun then. https://www.linkedin.com/in/kenneth-yohe-ba429463 if so, unsurprising he would be SAR fishing for TH and DDS.

    ***************
I’m thinking it could have come from one other person……Kyron himself. Unless of course TMH did not tell him she made him an appointment. Did she tell him?

She did not. Kyron was unaware of the pending appointment.

makes sense bcz the detective who posted on SAR FB that he could use new grads on one or more searches near term is former Military police so probably respected Dames. He joined the Task Force via being moved from River Patrol to E Cty Major Crimes team in Oct 2010. The focus then was finding evidence to charge and convict TH and DDS. Underhill may have moved off that dime, but Yohe may be a true believer.

I know it is true the remote viewing assets did exist and I have referenced a term that is also the name of a movie depicting a bit of their work. “Suspect Zero”. I have no information as to how effective Dames or any other asset is except to say if if he truly believed he had Kyron’s location and wanted to assist, all that had to happen is to ask a property owner to search the property if it is in fact, on private property. SO there’s that. I am just not aware of any remote viewer, psychic, astrologist or any other individual claiming to have knowledge of Kyron’s whereabouts through some sort of paranormal means contributing to his recovery. When he is found I may have a different opinion on that and if so I will state it-but for rn in my view the biggest problem in locating this child is the utter lack of emphasis on identifying SZ.

  43. Rose says:

Does the Tuatlin Valley Water whatever that owns the parcel have employees, as an agency, that plan or dig underground well enhancements or changes on public property, like PPS schools? Skyline had a well in the middle of their soccer field that was restructured or refurbished during the resodding or whatsver of that field at some point before the abduction. Planners or construction workers on the well or field would be familiar with doors on that side of the school.

I can’t tell from that parcel but from my overall knowledge it is more likely it is owned due to where either water or sewer lines come in OR due to some run off map I can’t see (possible future water tower?). That said, I think we discussed early on from a search perspective I am interested in anyone who has knowledge of local drains/culverts/resoviors/wells/tribs that run into the slough or Columbia river. I don’t have any specific information leading me to that, its just an area associated with disposal of a criminal profile I feel might be involved. I find that whole St. Helens (30) and Logie Trail very interesting although LE only recently searched near there (next to Wildwood Golf) this Fall. In my experience early leads or sightings usually end up having merit and as I recall, there were a few in this area and that was BEFORE anyone knew about the man at the 7-11.

In mid 2009, County Chair Wheeler was of necessity taking a HUGH axe to the mud2009 to
mid2010 budget. Union rep Herron was particularly concerned. Kyron’s abduction fixed that shortfall.

    https://www.tvwd.org/your-water/water-distribution-system.aspx
section 2 under Water Distribution says reservoirs exist
on Park & Rec agency land to include ball and soccer fields.
Skyline’s field was Park and Rec land, so while school is not on
the TWVA Service area map, that Park & Rec field could have had a TVWA well
I kniw there was a well reservour there that tued into Park and Rec refurishment of the field.
Their service map has another map of Spring ille Rd and of 158th. Who woukd discard a body on TVWA property except a construction workman familiar with its ownership?

  46. T. Ruth says:

I think where they’re searching is only about 5 miles se from Skyline El.
But now that you have looking back at the “viewers” prediction or whatever it’s called. This place (even though public property and Dames said property he would be found on is private) does lie almost exactly 10 miles SE of the school: Willamette Stone State Park

I thought this comment from someone who’s been there was interesting:

    https://bandofcharacters.blog/2014/07/21/willamette-stone-state-heritage-site/

Not that I’m into “viewing” or psychics but I did read some of the websites out there when Kyron first went missing. I recall many people saying they kept seeing an image of what looks like fence rails or something, kinda’ creeps me out, the fence-like structure at the park entrance.

    Pretty remote looking trail. http://bryanmullaney.blogspot.com/2011/12/willamette-stone-oab.html

Anywho, so much for viewers. Made me look.

This is part of our Oregon State Park challenge! Check out our progress here.

This state park was a bit tricky to find. The maps show exactly where the stone is, but not where to park. We walked almost entirely around that little green triangle before finally giving up, only to spot the trailhead as we drove away.
