“With Terri Horman gone, Kyron’s father Kaine said he and Kiara were moving back in. Saturday, he did so – and brought in a locksmith to change the locks and increase security. Friday night, Kaine Horman and Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, visited the “Wall of Hope” at Skyline school, taking several items back to put into Kyron’s room. They hope to have that room waiting for him if and when he comes come.”

“For months, Americans have faced a steady drumbeat of bad news that has been overwhelming and impersonal. Then comes the heart-tugging image of the innocent, bespectacled face with a gap-toothed grin. The fractured family dynamics and sensational twists in this story also have captivated the nation.

But perhaps the biggest factor feeding interest in the Kyron story has to do with the nature of his disappearance. Although hundreds of thousands of children are reported missing every year, about 115 are cases in which a child is abducted by a stranger and killed, held for ransom or taken for another reason. Kyron’s case, though still unsolved, falls in this category, said Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

About a third of those 115 kids are taken off the street or from a vehicle. The rest are mostly snatched from their home, yard, park or wooded area or from a store. Only two — fewer than 2 percent — vanish from a school or day care.

“This is something that captures the attention of millions of moms and dads across the country,” Allen said. “If your children aren’t safe at school, where are they safe? That’s one of the reasons why this case has resonated well beyond Portland and well beyond Oregon.”

Folks has anyone thought that LE may know that Kyron is alive and KH’s statements about him coming home to his house is a clue. Maybe someone is talking and they want to make sure he comes back to some sense of normalcy. Maybe LE just can’t get to him yet or they are waiting for something. Anyways they could still be working on their case in the meantime. Another point about SI. Maybe it was a meeting point and the reason they are looking there is for clues for maybe some of Kyron’s stuff. Just some ideas. I was getting tired of reading about the pictures of the school and TH affairs. Who cares about her. It’s Kyron everyone is supposed to be worried about. Come on people focus.

  10. Newsatfive says:

    Blink:

Neil Goldschmidt was a very charismatic mayor of Portland, and later, a successful governor.

My impression from living in Portland during Goldschmidt’s glory days, my impression was that people would refuse to believe anything bad about him because he had accomplished so much for the city.

Th girl Goldschmidt molested was a neighbor of his in Portland and the child of two very committed political supporters who had received political appointments from Goldscmidt.

Goldschmidt met up with this girl around town and it raised eyebrows. I think Willamette Week touched on this. Like many others in similar scenarios people wrote off their suspicions as imagination. Otherwise, wouldn’t others have complained?

Even the Oregonian opened its coverage with a claim that Goldschmidt has an affair. One staffer — a columnist, if I recall, got openly upset in the newsroom that The Oregonian didn’t call it a molestation.

The reasons that any of this is relevant are as follows:

    1. Willamette Week got the story right when everyone else looked the other way.

    2. It might suggest that Oregon ignores child molestation and puts children in peril. (I disagree as to this supposition.)

  11. annla says:

When I see comments on here such as “has LE really looked at the school?”, and “they should check if she bought a disposable camera”, I don’t know what to make of it. It reminds me of the frustration I have when I watch Nancy Grace – her callers drive me nuts. LE is not going to demolish the school bldg or excavate an entire property unless they have evidence that makes that logical. Of course they are checking her phone records and whether she bought a disposable camera. As far as we know, Kyron could be anywhere from Skyline to the moon, but LE knows more than us. And there is a reason it is not being released. I don’t think Oregon State politics are playing into why Kyron Horman is still missing. I think it’s b/c one woman and maybe an accomplice have managed to keep their mouths shut, but pretty soon this too will break down and one rat will jump ship to get a better deal. So now we are just waiting to see the rats in the light of day.

  12. puzzled says:

he isn’t. I too live in Oregon and while we have our share of everything, we don’t lead the country in crime or child abduction or even in high wierdness, like this case.

Just a note, I don’t belive LE has anything or they would not have let TH leave the area. Also, on the 11 pm news (all three stations) a request was made for anyone seeing anything or having any information in this case to call the sheriff’s office. I live in Eugene, two hours from the scene of the abduction, and LE is NOW asking for any information? They have run out of idea.

This is just heartbreaking to watch in slow motion.

What the? Neil Goldschmidt? He once read a book to my class at school. Maybe I should call the tip line ;)

Apparently, we need some new information about Kyron because we are getting way off topic. No offense, but now we are blaming the entire state of Oregon? I do find that offensive. I am sure if you look up any state, any government agency you will find coruption. Oregon is a lovely place and is not responsible for Kyrons disappearance. They are responsible to find him and I hope that do they, and quickly!

My apologies for the snarky comment, it’s my first, and hopefully my last. That’s just too much.

I read that an employee of Skyline has been missing since 6/4 – haven’t been able to find a reliable source for the info, anyone know if this is true? Seems pretty important if it is.

  18. PackLeader5 says:

For those of you that feel that photos at Skyline have been photoshopped (and you are probably correct): There are many reasons for this, not the least of which that Federal CIPA guidelines (Child Internet Protection Act) requires parents to sign a media release if their child’s picture is posted on a public website. It is fairly common to edit out students whose parents don’t sign the media release. Yes, I agree, the pictures look weird, but no weirder than any other school photos. It’s easier to photoshop the students out, and yes, sometimes replace them with another student figure, than it is to find another good picture.

    Whaazupwitchu says:
“On one Terri Horman’s FB support site, it mentioned that her trips to Albertson’s and Fred Meyer’s the morning of June 4 had been verified via video, which would preclude the early arrival somewhere else, plus it was in exactly the opposite direction of SI, is this true?”

    Skyline K8 to Albertsons = 10 minutes
Albertsons to Fred Meyer = 7 minutes
Fred Meyer to Sauvie Island = 25 minutes (depends where you go)

There are not many lights or stop signs here and the whole trip can be done in 45 minutes (excluding shopping). That still plenty of time for other business.

    http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/07/kaine_horman_describes_how_ter.html

Q:” What were the “red flags” or warning signs that Desiree Young thought she may have missed prior to Kyron’s disappearance? Desiree told the Today Show that Kyron seemed increasingly unhappy when he left their home after his visits with the Youngs. Kaine, did you see any warning signs and if so what? ”

A: “Desiree’s quote was not taken in its entirety. As a younger boy, Kyron can express distress when going from one household to the other if he has been having a great time and is looking forward to upcoming activities with that particular household. There was no abnormal amount of this happening after he left Desiree’s household or when he left ours to go visit Desiree. He has been unhappy several times when he has had to leave our house to go visit Desiree, nothing Desiree or I would deem out of the ordinary. ”

Does it seem K is trying to ‘change’ what D has said?
His written statement is way different than what we all heard Desiree say to Today Show/Dateline.

    ESKIMO
usage: origins in Narcotics Anonymous NA. “Eskimo” refers to an individual NA member who is identified as the discrete agent of the initial 12-Step experience in an individual’s personal journey of recovery. The “Eskimo” is that individual who takes such a personal interest in an individual addict that s/he both introduces & is able to lead the addict towards complete engagement with this recovery process (cf. 12th-Step (used as verb)).

I have merely provided information and you have all flipped out. I think that speaks volumes. Stop making excuses for FACTS and please stop saying that one or more people are blaming the state.

Raising questions, is not blaming. You all sound so guilty. God. And how many questions have been raised about people who likely have NOTHING to do with Kyron’s disappearance? If you really get me going, I will give more extremely unflattering historical information about the State of Oregon. Get over it.

Sondra says: “Does it seem K is trying to ‘change’ what D has said?
His written statement is way different than what we all heard Desiree say to Today Show/Dateline.”

Absolutely! If Desiree is to be believed, Kaine failed to protect Kyron by heeding the warning signs. That puts him in peril of losing custody of Kyron when he returns, as well as Kiera.

Kaine’s response is classic divorce lawyer massaging, turning an allegation around on the parent making the allegation. Kaine brilliantly reframes the entire scenario to be about a kid who hates to leave whatever house he is in at the moment.

It may also be that Desiree is clinging to anything she can to try and make sense about what happened. People cannot accept a random abduction, but we can certainly rationalize a scenario whereby the responsibility to have intervened lies with a third party, rather than the speaker taking responsibility for his or her duty to protect the child.

    Everyone else:

On a separate note, as to Neil Goldschmidt: Someone raised Goldchmidt a an example of how Oregon deals with child molesters Blink responded and asked WTH?

The media handling of it — calling it an affair instead of abuse was upsetting enough. That some came to believe it was a statement as to public sentiment was what made this all the more ridiculous.

And about those who say the statute of limitations expired long before the story broke: Maybe not. Some states toll the SOL until the victim reaches the age of majority (i.e. 18), deu to concealment of the crime, etc.

If there is a kidnap, the perp may have sent those to LE/the families and LE was communicating to the perp. If they were lost and the perp didn’t know it, LE was communicating that there was evidence. There would be no reason for LE to describe the glasses as an exact replica if they were just a second pair of Kyron’s. They could be straight up about that. If these were the actual glasses Kyron was wearing 6/4, much bigger deal. It’s a critical piece of info in the case if those are Kyron’s actual glasses. Blink elaborated much more on an earlier post.

This child needs to be found. Those who know where he is need to tell. When they close their eyes to try and sleep, they cannot rest because they know the truth. That is why they cannot look the camera in the eye. 37. Starsky says:

I think the MFH plot was for Kyron and not Kaine. I think she began ignoring LS calls or requests for the payout. LS probably go upset that money was not coming as promised, so perhaps decided to get police involved and change the story making Kaine the target. LS would not want to implicate himself, he would just want payment Do we know if he is legal? If not, Terri would have made a clever choice, banking on the fact hr would not come forward for fear of deportation. I doubt she would have had any texts from her end that would reference Kyron. Sending sexual content would only help to build a “scorned lover” scenario. I believe she planned out all of these details and that even though to most of us sbe is the obvious culprit, there are plausible excuses for janu bit of evidence pointing at her.

    @Jackie B or anyone
    you seem great with facts
what does third party in this case
    mean. What is Kaine saying?

YIPPEEE!! A Malty mention, love it!

As for what it means… lots of answers to that ?, but in my mind, there are two ways to read this:

“He also talks about his suspicion that a third party was involved in his son’s disappearance.

Q: You have said in the past that you believe someone else may have been involved , aside from Terri, in Kyron’s disappearance? What leads you to believe this and do you still hold those feelings?

A: I can’t comment as to all of the reasons why based on the investigation but based upon briefings I firmly believe that someone else is involved.”

When I read that part of the Q&A, I took it to mean another person besides TH, who was not associated with KH, so an outsider/3rd party. *But* I’ve also read that some people think it literally means a 3rd person, which is also possible. TH, LSL, Party #3.

    So.

I feel certain that TH was involved with planning and “drop off”
then LSL either did the deed with TH help or
LSL helped her “arrange” things (“TH, meet my satanic friend”, “Satanic Friend, this is TH, my spicy redheaded lover”) and
then the one (satanic friend) who did the deed, possibly one of LSLs crew (maybe someone named Ansel… something?).

I don’t know if LSL did something to Kyron, but based on what Blink has said, I do believe he is involved, on her statement alone. She knows way more than we do about facts in the case that she can’t share with us. Based on LSLs work with the police on the sting, I lean towards another person having done anything that may have been done to Kyron–jmo.

Since it seems like 3rd party could have both meanings, and if there are 3 parties, maybe there’s a slight chance Kyron is being held somewhere, an actual #3 might be good news. TH is under constant scrutiny, so she couldn’t be keeping Kyron alive somewhere. I’d imagine that LSL has his own LE entourage. And so he couldn’t be keeping Kyron alive somewhere. But maybe there’s a 3rd party, unknown to LE (not the Anselmo guy, he’s in lockdown)… likely, nope, I don’t think but it’s keeping hope alive for DY, TY, and KH possibly…

Anyway, that’s just my translation, and I’m sure there are many others. But I felt a Malty mention deserved a response for sure :)

This ’06 neighborhood letter mentions several things:

    1. There is a one mile long underground train tunnel in the vicinity.

    2. The school has a septic system, which was mentioned. One rare, but often overlooked cause of children going missing is their falling (or otherwise) into an open septic system, where manhole cover has been removed. It is a grim thought, but “child found in septic system” unfortunately happens too often, if one looks at the internet.

I’m still concerned with the fact that Mr Houze hasn’t come out and made any comments regarding Terri’s innocence in this case. The only thing I can come up with at this point is that he won’t lie publicly.
I must give him credit for that.

I still feel that if he has any knowledge whatsoever as to what happened to Kyron or where he is dead or alive he needs to tell. These parents need closure. How will it look to the public that is so entrenched in this disappearance, if he has knowledge and doesn’t get it to the proper authorities. He is a parent and therefore has to have some sort of feelings on how this would effect him if it had happened to his own family. The extreme loss and despair they must be feeling.

How long would he retain a client that won’t share info with him on what happened?

That said I would also like to say to those who live in the area and walk their dogs. Take them walking on the Island. Believe me they don’t have to be trained to locate something with their noses. When I was much younger my friend and I were walking our German Shepherds down by a local creek on the Oregon coast. My dog much older hers was a puppy, kept trying to go a different direction, practically dragging me. It was thru the brush so I wouldn’t go. Two days later they found the body of a young man who had commited suicide along the creek bank. I’ve never forgotten how my dog was acting and he had no training but obviously caught that scent and wanted to check it out.
Most dogs would be naturally attracted to such a scent. Just make sure you keep them leashed and have a cell phone with you.

God I hope they find this beautiful young boy alive and well.

    Hi Newsatfive,

Thank you for what you stated to perfectly. And it is indeed outrageous and unsettling. The media, the powers that be, and the public are ALL critical elements to consider IMO. When all of the above look the other way (even as we have seen on this site) — it can often times be extremely difficult to get to the REAL truth. I am not suggesting that everyone is on the wrong track. Far from it. But to not consider questioning the status quo in Oregon would be a HUGE mistake.

A bit from WW on statements made by the victim’s OWN MOTHER:

“Even the victim’s mother, arguing against the publication of WW’s original story, based part of her objection on Goldschmidt’s achievements.”

“‘He is man of integrity and has done many, many good things. I don’t see what is served by publishing,” she said in an interview earlier this year. “I think of statesmen who really served their states and then were disgraced in their old age, and I think to what end? To what end?’”

A man of INTEGRITY? Really? That poor girl. I can’t imagine the Hell she lived with. And I am sure her own mother was damaging enough. I can’t even go there.

Okay so “eskimo” is also “antifreeze”? but they are both Richard McQuade? and left some creepy poem about Kyron being on the sunny side and being in the water??? I am getting this wrong?

    “Moving Brooks School”

“The former one room schoolhouse stood just in front of the present day Skyline School.”

Back to the sink hole idea from abandoned cistern, or otherwise. There are several recent cases in Portland: a man falling into a covered up cistern in his own backyard, and a girl falling into a sinkhole on a baseball field which was an abandoned septic system.

Landscaper would be the best to know where these elements were located on the property of Skyline School.

I have an idea that since Kyron seemed to vanish, he is going to be found close to where he was last seen.

I don;t think a perp would risk driving him around.

    I hope I am wrong.

Terri has yet to come into the spotlight & say “No way would I have hurt Kyron, I am searching for him day & night. I am passing out fliers.” Perhaps her lawyers says keep quite, but she should still be out passing out fliers & taking action, just like any parent naturally would!

She is behaving just like Scott Peterson, Drew Peterson, Josh Powell & Casey Anthony & Even Susan Smith!. There is such a lack of action & sincerity or pleading for their loved ones safe return.

There is such a similarity between her & Susan Smith-
