“any golf courses south ? of ?? portland? maybe the school?

    Creepy”

Interesting interpretation, MM! There are many golf courses south of Portland, but the one probably closest to Skyline School is Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course, just north of the SUNSET highway. It’s approx. 7 miles from the school. A golf course would def. have lawn maintenance workers.

Still, how would the eskimo know anything, a vision?

  2. CCmakes3 says:

    @soma –
What “red thing” in the log pic? The flowering bush in the background? Why would that give you “outright goosebumps”? I don’t get it.

  3. Midwest Mom says:

@kaylee, lol! I never thought of landscaper and golf courses… Duh?? I don’t know anything about eskimo other than what I have read here. Didn’t kaine say they were checking the “pumpkin” Patches on SI?

  4. Jackie Bauer :) says:

Lizzy, I agree: “Following through and picking up Kyron’s project, however, would have kept her cover with Kaine as to why she needed the truck. So her call/e-mail still makes sense from that perspective.” And the call/email would allow her to check the status of things at school, and the doctor’s appt, bought her 7 hours of time.

Praying that this week is the week we find Kyron. Hearts are with you, little buddy!

Interesting that it is a real possibility that a staff or faculty member from Skyline has been MIA since 6/4 – anyone hear a rumor as to who it could be? I remember LE saying they had accounted for 98% of the people at the science fair.

Susan- the article about that RM was dated in 2003 and says “said the Rev. McQuade, now 72,” so he would be really old now…It is true it could be a made up name but I came across RM living in Springfield Oregon in his 30′s that does “construction” he is on FB and my space…Blink is this the same guy you are aware of? I don’t get the school pic thing either, I know we are looking for any clues but I don’t think there is any there. Also reading other comments on Oregon Live comments and there were ones(one) pertaining to Kyron being taken to California?…these are the days when the world seems really big…I tried to find out about the shirt and nothing came up from a news article but I did notice that James had the same shirt on in family photos from last year…so it probably was meant for an older child not a child Kyron’s age- people have mentioned it odd for such a little guy to have a CSI shirt– God Bless you Kyron.

I would be interested to hear what Terri’s exes would have to say about her and wonder if they would tell their story of life with her.
Kaine answered an email question by saying that “Terri was a good person when we first met.” He said others who knew her have also said this (I’m paraphrasing) and Desiree said in their earlier televised interview that they were “blindsided” by this. Kaine said in another interview he believed she was involved in Kyron’s disappearance as a way to hurt him, it was the next best thing since she did not get to him with the MFH plot. (Again, I’m paraphrasing) He has said that her behavior changed after the birth of Kiara, that there were emotional outbursts.

The LS told investigators that Terri had said her marriage was bad and that Kaine had hurt her emotionally. Was the hurt caused by an affair Kaine had, by making James move out, or possibly irrational paranoia? Also, I’m not sure anything we’ve heard the landscaper say is worth a damn. His credibility is on the extreme short side imo.

Terri seemed to be about keeping up appearances. She kept her body in what she deemed as “perfect” condition. Had the perfect career, caught the perfect husband, kept the perfect house, worked hard at keeping her family looking perfect. And, no matter how hard an over-achiever works at it, real life is not perfect and working at having a perfect marriage can seem to be an inaccessible goal. I’m reminded of a line out of the movie, “The Missing” about marriage that “the notion of it was better than the doing.” She would not be the first woman in her age group to experience a break with reality as the result of enormous fluctuations in hormones. (in her case caused by a pregnancy)

I think it’s possible that the MFH plot was still a go. While most of us wanting out of a “bad” marriage would just file for divorce, (I believe Oregon is a community property state and she would have gotten something) she may have been terrified she would not get custody of Kiara, as money does a lot of the talking in family court. But that morning, Kyron did some kid thing, forgot his lunch, got his shirt dirty, whatever and Terri exploded in psychopathic violent anger and hurt him. She took him (or his body) with her to her pre-scheduled Friday morning liaison with the landscaper. This is where the Fargo factor comes into play for me. What happens next is probably more bizarre than anything any of us can imagine.

The LS will never talk. The worst thing he is facing is deportation and he’ll be right back with a new name and social security number in a new state before we ever find Kyron. I don’t think Terri will ever talk either. I speculate that the truth is no longer in her mind as an actual event, since it isn’t consistent with perfection.

  12. Titch says:

    @Susan – Re your:
Titch: My thought was that even though some working dads may not know all the details about a child’s project, I imagine Kaine would have known if the project was at the house to be transported when Terri asked for the truck. At the very least I would have thought Kyron would have mentioned something to his dad if he had set the project up the day before and had his picture taken in front of it. Maybe at dinner he would have asked Terri to show his dad the picture or something. I believe Kaine mentioned that he and Kyron talked about the science project that morning.

Me – I know & I agree…however something I keep going back to is the fact that it was said Kyron wanted Terri to take him to school early bc he was eager to show her his Science Project. I took that to mean all set up, bc since Kaine helped with the triboard project, then surely Terri saw it at home. So, taking that into consideration, I wonder if it was set up the day before or the night before June 4th. Or was it set up in the early morning of June 4th, which I cannot comprehend at all bc the school opened early for touring of the Science Fair. Wouldn’t the projects and/or exhibits have to be set up in advance since the school was opening at 8:00 for friends/family to tour the projects? Wouldn’t it be complete chaos if all of the students, all 300 of them, brought in their projects a half hour to an hour early to set up? I personally think the majority, if not all, were set up in advance. imo. Then again, it’s fairly easy to stand a tri-board display up & place a diorama in a shoebox on the desk…however what about the more indepth Science projects…like the electric exhibit? Or if somebody has a volcano exhibit, which is so common for 3rd & 4th graders to make for these IB Fairs, etc. See what I’m saying? I’m only questioning it…don;t know for a fact…but it’s a reasonable guess…

“I would be interested to hear what Terri’s exes would have to say about her and wonder if they would tell their story of life with her.”

    From the OregonLive article, http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/kyron_hormans_blended_family_f.html

“She’s a pretty attentive mom,” said Tarver, her first husband.

Her second spouse, Richard Ecker, has kind words to say about her as well: “She was always a gifted teacher. She did as much for the school and the kids as she could.”

He couldn’t imagine his ex-wife doing anything to harm a child.

“She would never hurt a child,” he said. “She’s not wired that way.”

This child could have been taken anywhere in so many different directions leaving that school. If you scan out you will see that Sauvie Island is just across the Hwy from the Golf Course also. I live out int his area so I’m very aware of the different routes to take to get where you want to go when traffic is backed up on the Hwy.

I was just thinking about photoshopping TH with differing colors of hair and styles. I know media are camped at her parents house, but I doubt it’s impossible to get out of there sight unseen. She’s lost everything already, so why not run. LS could have some buddies in Texas or Mexico who would take her and transport her once she’s over the border. AND, it’s easy to get out of the US.

  17. Whaazupwitchu says:

You said the LS had a more local connection, perhaps then we shouldn’t fuss why he was hired from relatively far away. But TH found him from the school (some of the older kids picked up the vibe, perhaps a younger one saw more too), so is it important who connected the school to him?
Yes also from one somewhat in the area, it’s best to look at most of this area as a giant woods around Columbia watershed. Some houses and other building have been carved out of this woods and that’s where the search area is. And THICK forest due to all the rain. (I know how different it can be “out East” and in the big cities).

What balderdash. All of us are morally pliable beings. At any given time, and for any number of reasons, we can make decisions that progressively degrade an otherwise good character. Our poor choices may, at least initially, be relatively innocuous. But over time our fears, selfishness, pride, etc. can put us on a moral trajectory that leads to monstrousness.

I was just sitting here reading the posts, and one concerning aerial shots of the school made me think of the search dogs again. A couple of things. I know that LE initially searched early in the investigation, and that they had a scent article from the family. Uhm…I hope Terri wasn’t the one to get the item for LE (to use as a scent item). She could have given them clean clothes, as opposed to something Kyron had worn. Also, I think that I would go ahead and give Harry (what’s his last name? Oaks? Oakes?) a scent item, even if I didn’t believe he was “that good,” unless LE thinks he might contaminate evidence, or possible locations. Maybe that is why the fam has not offered up a scent item? Blink, other than doubting his credibility, do you think there is any particular reason that the fam has not offered a scent item up to this man?

I don’t like the guy’s comments, but if he has been successful in the past, and we still have no location for Kyron, what is there to lose?

  24. S says:

Whazzup – I hear you loud and clear. I live in the sticks and drive that route to work. I drive through there that time of the morning. There is lots of traffic. I continually ponder and question SI as the well-planned place to drop a body. Would you take the chance of sitting at the light at SI to make a left and have some bozo run the light in either direction? I also lived in a city for many years and can understand how those folks would think of it as the boonies.

I think if it was a well-planned abduction, SI would not be the planned destination. There are sooooo many places where you could go and be the ONLY people around for miles.

Thanks for the info WC and Futureman – point well taken.

I think her psychological issues go way back. Her “friend” who spoke to media so many times in the biginning seemed totally committed SM’s story that she had cared for Kyron since he was 4 days old (Kaine now says she didn’t care for Kyron in infancy at all), and that she was Mom’s friend before getting involved with Kaine (Mom says absolutely not true). Initial news coverage included the “story”. So if neither point is true, why say she only moved in to help Kaine take care of Kyron. Makes me wonder why she thought she had to put out this complicated story as to why she moved in with the guy?? I raise the question again as to a possible obsession with Kyron rather than a love match with Kaine.

My question is this: Have any of the crew from RS Landscape Maintenance been at the school since Kyron’s disappearance?

  30. Kaylee says:

Lazy Dog, Wildwood Golf Course makes a lot of sense. It fits with the man driving on Hwy 30 who thought he saw Terri drive out of a road north of Logie Trail Rd. Just south, off of King RD, it looks like there is a tree farm or nursery.

I took this from the school web article on the community care day. “Minus mowing and some hillside weeding, the grounds, flower beds, trees, and gardens at Skyline are as nice as they are thanks to parents, staff, and community members.” From this I’m guessing RS Landscaping did the mowing and hillside weeding. Blink has said this before, but I hope the MCSO are checking all of Sanchez’s regular jobs.

@Futureman: You are SO right. Last week I heard someone either JVM’s or Nancy Grace’s panel say something to the effect of “we’re all one drug cocktail away from being a murderer”—sometimes it is chemicals, sometimes environment, nature, nurture…a mixture.

Don’t get a false sense of security because your co-workers are not in the Megan’s Law database. Pedophiles are usually active for an average of 16 years before they are caught. Gross.

Lack of positive self knowledge or harsh environmental circumstances may also accelerate or strengthen an already inherent trait. Hiding ones true self from others is something that most Criminals have mastered.
I still wonder if Sauvie Island was only a place in which to exchange Kyron or dispose of evidence. LE may be looking for some type of evidence, but I do not believe from the public data we have thus far, that Kyron is there.
I applaud all those who keep questioning and applying pressure to TH as well as the Multnomah County Sheriffs Dept or anyone who has involvement with Kyron’s case. The more we keep discussing and searching for answers eventually they will surface.

I admit I am a bit confused by something. Police recently asked for video from stores… I read somewhere (hinky or scared monkeys?) that those specific stores were the Fred Meyers off Hwy 26, and an Albertson’s on Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy. My initial understanding was that they were trying to confirm that TH was there WHERE SHE SAID SHE WAS (even though her bank records or pings didn’t show her there).

But after reading a few posts, (sharon says: July 17, 2010 at 6:32 pm, Whaazupwitchu says: July 17, 2010 at 8:55 pm) she was verified as being there, without Kyron? So is that where she SAID she was, or where she WAS, or BOTH??

I am interested because that is the Albertson’s that I shop at, and as a busy mom I can’t understand why someone would drive so far out of their way (I get 28 minutes on google map, and I’d say that is pretty close to actual time give or take 5 minutes), when there is an Albertson’s right there on Barne’s road they would have to drive PAST to get to this one… coming from skyline, or coming from the Fred Meyer’s in question.

UNLESS they had some other reason to be in this neighborhood (i.e. a favorite vet or Working Class Acupuncture), that might be plausible. Still, it would make more sense to me to stop at the store nearer to your house you would be most comfortable and familiar with. I should also mention that to get to this Albertson’s you would drive by two other Fred Meyer’s (one at hwy 217 exit and one on Beav-hill hwy), a New Season’s and a Safeway. There is nothing else near to my Albertson’s, and it’s a small store. The only other thing in that little shopping center is a RiteAid… and one of those semi trailer Goodwill donation centers.

So… if she is claiming to have gone there, I wonder what she stated her reasons for going so out of her way were. If she really actually was there, what ELSE would she have been doing in that neighborhood? Because she has to have been doing something else. (IMHO)

  38. glorybug says:

Anyone in TH’s life has had about 6 weeks now to say whatever they want about her, and to get paid by tabloids to do so. To date, her ex-husband has supposedly said she cheated on him, but did not elaborate or even make it sound all that bad. I wonder about that. Why have people not fallen out of the woodwork, pay-happy to talk dirt on her? Not saying she can’t be involved, just saying it’s weird. People who know her. aren’t really even dishing the dirt on website comments. Strange.

That is something I just don’t remember seeing in other cases.

I can tell you this- my ex accused me in court of abusing drugs while at the same time not mentioning it to our mediator or our court psychologist (we obviously had an ugly divorce which is still not resolved 4 years and over $40k of mine later). Even though he drank and smoked pot, he was able to get it approved to get JUST me tested (and not him), and even though I passed, it’s now on my permanent record that I was tested.

At the same time, he also told people I was a great mom, and that he would never try to take our children away from me, yet he spent over $80k doing just that. Fairly successfully.

Kaine may be all that. I don’t know. I know from my experience, having had my ex diagnosed as an NPD that it is very common for NPDs to accuse their partners of exactly the same behaviour they are doing. I was accused many times of smoking pot when I do not, and my ex does.

This is beginning to sound an awful lot like a divorce/custody case, and not so much like a missing child case.

I don’t really care if K cheated on DY while she was pregnant, nor if TH cheated at some time. I do know that in the middle of our custody dispute I really just wanted to eff anything,,, anything to dull the psin, get me to not think about my children. But, I am intelligent, and I never acted on it. Maybe TH is not as intelligent? What I do care about it Kyron’s location. Eff everybody else. I don’t care about their stories. I don’t want to read about them in magazines.

Just a FYI…Media is not camped out at Terri’s parents house. It’s actually fairly calm around here. I absolutely disagree. I was adopted finally at age 6 after many abusive homes. I did not have children until I was in my late 30′s because I was afraid I would be abusive. I was surprised at how easy it was to love my children, and how easy it’s been to not be abusive. If amything, I think I have a better handle on how NOT to be abusive than other parents have.

People are not hard-wired to be abusive. It’s just not true. It is learned behaviour that can be unlearned. It is a myth. Research it. People who were abused as children do not have a higher incidence of abusing their own children. That is what is frustrating about a lot of these cases, is that the perps were not abused children.

Cruel behaviour is abnormal. Dahmer’s parents were not abusive unless you think sending your kid to rehad is abusive. Yet, their child went on to become a serial killer.

I have heard nothing about TH coming from an abusive family. In fact, the only thing I have read is that Kaine may have come from a sexually abusive family.

Everyone wants to be a psychic. They just ‘know’ things from their ‘gut’. It isn’t about finding Kyron, or their stellar gut reactions would already have led to finding him. I’m going to guess they are all going to be wrong.

Find the kid first, then babble about your gut reactions. In case nobody read it… FIND THE KID FIRST.

  42. Cathy Bickel says:

@Futureman…what you said is absolutley correct and along those same lines a person doesn’t “start” by abducting and doing God know’s what, to a child. I stated earlier that there had to be signs, there are always signs. Every single time AFTER the fact a family member says something along the same lines that DY said about “flags”. I posted the comment before DY mentioned she thought there might be something wrong…this is NOT a slam on DY so save your breath, it’s what I’ve seen happen time after time after something tragic has occured to a child.

Thought I would post regarding results of abuse. I come from an abusive home myself. Not only physical abuse but sexual abuse for as far back as I can remember. I am not an abusive person. I have a wonderful daughter who I did not abuse. I also made it very clear to those who would be around my daughter growing up that if you even think about the crime you won’t be here to do the time.

As adults we make decisions and then we live with those decisions. I chose to not carry it forward but one of my brothers did not. As such he paid the price for those crimes. As he should have.

I will also say that in his case there were two mothers involved. They allowed him to take their children out alone as long as the money was rolling in from him. They even knew he was an RSO and that didn’t matter to them. Then the money stopped and next I heard both reported him and the only problem I had with that is they lied about where, when and how To cover their own involvement in it. When I contacted the authorities about the situation they poo pooed me about it and did nothing. Children Svcs said they had no right to force children to be checked out for abuse unless a school or parent makes a complaint.

I guess what I’m saying is some mothers won’t even protect their own children and will sell them into abuse and don’t even seem to care. Don’t know if that is what happened here but I’m looking at all possibilities at this point.

I don’t know this family personally and my heart aches for this small child. No child should ever suffer from any abuse. I can tell you that when those a child loves and trusts turns against them it does in fact set a person up to not trust in the future. Imagine if you can that the one place you are supposed to feel safe could be the one place where you aren’t. Is this how this young man was feeling? I don’t know but if she brought bad people into his life at his own home that might explain his fear of getting out of his own bed. Not knowing what today would bring.

I can only pray that whoever has taken this young man and whoever is involved in any way receive the full extent of punishment allowed by our great country. Be it life or the death penalty.

May God bless you Kyron Horman. You did nothing to deserve any of this. You are an innocent and those who are able to truly love have shown that in their thoughts, words, and prayers.

I gotcha, Titch! I hadn’t heard that Kyron was excited to SHOW Terri the SP. I just thought she made the darned thing, but seeing it up and on display would be a different thing than just seeing it as it was being made. If that’s the case, though, then why would she say that she needed the truck to transport the science project to school on the day the little guy went missing? I believe that is what Kaine said. I’ll go back and re-read.

It seems so calculating to me, but perhaps it is just innocent variations in a day. Pray without ceasing!

seems like not everyone in Roseburg is happy about their newest resident:

KATU (ABC) has a “sister” station in Roseburg. Here is the link http://www.kpic.com/news/local/98713244.html
The residents of Roseburg need to know about their “star” resident – check it out!

Kaine said in an interview that he still wears his wedding ring as a symbol of “his family” and that he will eventually take it off. He said he honestly has been so distraught and busy he hadn’t really thought about his wedding ring. It is kind of hard to think of small things when the bottom falls out of your world.

If it is indeed true that TH emailed Ms. Porter to ask when the science fair projects needed to be picked up, I would love to know whether or not she received – and opened – a email reply.

Re: What the older kids said at school about TM and RS – I can’t find it or really verify it,sorry, but someone else wrote about it in a definitive way. The school/neighborhood group is generally tight-lipped to the public.

I was asking about verifying that about ALbertson’s as again someone else said it was proven she was there. And I and others wondered why she went that far to the Barnes’ Rd. Albertson’s (is it bigger than the Union one) but didn’t know she was going far to the Fred Meyer’s. It seems hard for us all to come up with the time line as things contradict. And we were going round on another site about how she could be seen on SI with her mustang if she had been seen in a white pick-up right near Hwy 30(running back to switch at Intel?, but when?) – so we had to leave it as a mystery. She might have worked to establish an alibi while someone else was zipping off with Kyron.

I work with people a lot and I see every kind of combination you could imagine from pasts and presents. Some people believe there is also something about the soul of a person, because the psychology alone can’t explain the variability. But looking at the early imprints cam help. Alot goes on in the little heads that is hidden to others and others don’t see it or want to see it. It seems TH and KH were somewhat disconnected at the end. so they wouldn’t know all each other;s details. Not that it isn;t easy to get caught up with the young’uns and all their schedules and a job over full-time..

    @Andy:

Most of what’s been written on this site has been surmising and armchair sleuthing. Without having access to TH’s psych profile, we’re not entitled to call her a sociopath. More importantly, if monstrous human behavior is (even largely) reducible to our native hardwiring, then we need to seriously reconsider our traditional moral categories. I agree that the ability to deliberate well about good/bad can be *compromised* by various disorders and deficient upbringings. In these cases, the level of real culpability (i.e., moral guilt) is lessened because the decisions and actions are not wholly voluntary, i.e., free from irresistible compulsions or the innate inability to reason well about how to treat our fellows.

That said, I stick by my original statement. Most people–even presumably good people–can remake themselves into something awful. For your summer reading, Gitta Sereny’s profiles on Nazis Franz Stangl and Albert Speer are excellent.

    @Mystarz,

You say: “genomes have proven we can be born a Nazi, a Saint…”

No, they have not. Besides, moral vice and virtue are, by definition, products of thoughtful deliberation and choice over time. In short, real moral goodness/badness requires voluntariness. So if genomes wholly determine the kind of people we are, then there are no morally vicious or virtuous people (destructive/violent or other-regarding/sacrificial, yes; vicious or virtuous, no).
