Isabel Celis Missing Breaking News: Investigation Focuses on Celis Relative “Uncle” Justin Mastromarino- Cousin Is Also Former Houseguest

Tucson, AZ- Missing Since the early morning hours of Saturday April 21st from the window of her bedroom allegedly,  the search for 6 year old Isabel Mercedes Celis has taken a turn toward her family.

On the heels of the appearance of Sergio and Becky Celis first public interview this morning on the Today show, sources inside the investigation have confirmed that Pima County detectives are scrutinizing the prior arrest and prior living arrangements of Justin Mastromarino,  Isabel’s cousin.  Although Justin was the initial spokesperson for the family immediately after Isabel’s disappearance, he dropped out of sight when investigators could not exclude him as a person of interest.

Mastromarino lived with the Celis family for some time in 2011.   The image below was taken in front of the Celis home in June 2011.

Yesterday, both Sergio and Becky Celis visited the Celis home and re-enacted the events of Friday April 20th and Saturday April 21st.

zeus @ May 3, 2012 at 9:26 pm, that was the strangest part of the interview, I thought. Am I the only one who thought of George Anthony at that point – like he is trying to describe too much? I am not accusing him of anything; his response just seemed forced and rambling. Could very well have been due to stress but it seemed off to me.

I have not seen this subject addressed…

Isabella was up for Sixteen hours,(Friday) she attended school and the baseball game, AND cleaned up after game, reportly.

I do not know about anyone on this forum, but I am passed out on
less hours than Sixteen. I cannot imagine, how tired the child was
at 7:00 pm, let alone at 10:00 pm when leaving the park, or if she
was put to bed at 11:00 pm.

My math is assuming, she was up at 7:00 am, she may have been up earlier, for all I know. Even if Isa had a cat nap, it would still
be a Horrendously long day, for a Six year old, in my opinion.

Cannot help thinking it was a Testy night for all the family members.

    IMO

    LeeLee,

jmo, the den in the far left rear of the room looks like a possible “spare room” for any visitor or lodger, especially seeing that it has its own or is right next to one of the 2 exit/entrance doors to the outside patio and backyard area.

As I recall, the room also has those low-to-the-ground slider windows on the back of the house – - – the back side closest to the neighbor.

The police confirmed that the parents underwent polygraph tests within the first few days of Isa’s disappearance. No results were given but just the fact they are still be questioned by police, especially what happened the other day with both being brought into the house and questioned separately tells me that LE does not believe they are telling all they know.
As far as this cousin, I couldn’t help but notice the glasses almost matched exactly that police sketch of the other attacker, that is a really scary thought. I can’t help but wonder if they have some sort of dna from that crime scene, couldn’t they just ask him for a saliva sample if they were suspicious? I realize he does not legally have to comply.

In my experience, it is not unusual for potential witnesses to be re-questioned as new evidence or tips emerge. IIrc, one of the sons was walked through the house by LE as well. One possible reason for this tactic may have been to elicit more details from each family member about exactly what took place that night. Taking them in separately may have been done to keep each witness’s memory from being “contaminated” by another’s remarks/recollection.

I definitely get the feeling that LE has some evidence, and may even have suspect(s) in mind. JMO.

OMG, Malty … good sleuthing! I hadn’t seen that link before.

I have been noticing it seems there are often two birthdates listed for Sergio so not sure if one of them is just wrong, a birthdate that may be attached to an alias he might use, or if it’s even the same Sergio in this case. According to that information though, it shows he was born in 1970 and Rebecca in 1976. It seems Sergio is no stranger to the court and it appears Rebecca has her own issues. I still can’t shake that they are hiding something but that’s just my own personal opinion on the matter.

If that information is correct, the part that blew me away the most I think are these lines on Rebecca’s charges:

CL0033825 1 DUI; ALCOHOL DRUGS TOXIC VAPOR OR COMBINATION 04/22/2003 COMPL DISMISSED BY CTY ATTY

CL0033825 2 LIQ IN VEHICLE CONSUME/POSSESS 04/22/2003 COMPL DISMISSED BY CTY ATTY

CL0033825 3 CHILD/VULNERABLE ADULT ABUSE 04/22/2003 COMPL DISMISSED BY CTY ATTY

Things that make you go “Hmm …..”

  10. Kris says:

Mermaid, the cousin/uncle has a friend who looks IDENTICAL to the sketch in my opinion. Same mouth, nose, jawline, eyebrows……The glasses are a different color and the hairline isn’t as receding, but the sketch was made from the memory of the three girls, so a few inconsistencies would be expected.

  11. justice23 says:

Did anyone notice in Sergio’s interview with ABC the other night, when asked by the host about what he remembered about his daughter Isabel the last time he saw her, he described her smile and her cute angelic face then went onto describe her in the “past tense” but then quickly caught himself and immediately said, “is”?

I will try to find the link so you can see for yourself but that really stuck out for me. I know they are allegedly “grieving” or whatever you call it for them, but I would think you would still be describing your “missing” daughter in the present tense since you supposedly have no idea what actually happened to her. The fact that he used the past tense in the manner that he did it just seemed very strange to me.

For now, that is about all I believe.

I am a broken record. These people do not exhibit the fear or terror a parent of an abducted child , allegedly by a stranger,
in any capacity. I don’t even think THEY believe each other.

Window is still in place. 911 call has not been released, polygraphs have not resulted in clearing them.

@Leelee … I’m having the same questions about sleeping arrangements! That’s a pretty big house: 1.) if my young daughter were scared, I’d move her closer to my own bedroom, 2.) I would not have my daughter that age sleeping with her brother, especially at their ages. I just can’t figure our why she seemingly went to bed in her clothes either. Still concerned about the uncle.

  20. Elizabeth says:

I have a question. Are there any searches going on now? The last I heard was quite a while ago when they searched that lake.

Isn’t that strange…no searches but they are back at the house with separate visits by Mom, Dad and Brother.

Wonder why all family members present that night weren’t..taken in again.

  21. Word Girl says:

Usually, in the missing persons venue, I don’t have to reach very far to see a motive. Here, I just don’t know.

Was Mom’s “girly girl” just too much–too needy, too over-the-top?
In the televised interview, Mom mentions that Isa “loved to get her makeup on,” “…do her nails, do your nails, do my nails.”

While I have a grown, professional diva in my life, who had her own curling iron at age six (and bought her own clothing at age 3), I can’t say we ever entered the makeup realm until much, much older.
Of course, it might have gotten in the way of four sports.

Was Isa at an age that she could report molestation? Observe other crimes and tell about them?

I always notice the body language on television interviews–especially when someone says “yes” and shakes their head, even slightly, “no” as Sergio did (as did Mike Bordeaux). It’s not conclusive, but I get that all is not well in that world.

  22. cheryl says:

Per the KVOA interview… I think it is tape #1, I find it odd they are a bit unclear about the funds to fund to find Isa as far as who is controlling it, then they oddly say it is there for them if they need it but they don’t need it right now. I thought the dad was a dental assistant and the mom a pediatric nurse, they surely must be ok financially, maybe have family leave or vacation they can take. So why are they implying they they might need it?

And, odd when Rebecca responds about not being in the public it seems all about her – she just wants to be able to sit and cry, etc. NOW, they are going to start being outfront. Surely, they must realize the first few days are critical in finding a child.

Wonder if there is an old boyfriend/bio dad who may have wanted her.

On WBTV, Charlotte, N. C. Thursday night, Molly Granthan, at eleven last night gave a long report on an manual on sex offenders. Someone gave her the manual to do a report on them. It was very shocking. She said they used to sell them on Amazon

The firt thing she said is the sex offenders and Pedi…usually make “friends” first with the adults and then go after the kids. Sometimes they will try to marry a fat single mother to get at a child.

Then, there were other things that made me sick about what they teach the kids, stuff like they can teach a two year old to have orgasms and on and on. Molly, the reporter, thinks parents should become aware of how many there are out they, and so do I. that is why I am telling you if any parents out there should check out WBTV, charlotte to see the report.

Yep Georgiamom, we definitely have some rambling going on! It just smacks of trying too hard to explain something.

I, like others on here, am stymied by the lack of emotion I am seeing these parents display. They are way too calm-like Isa is just out for a play date with a friend and is out of reach for a while.

She’s freaking MISSING-and they are just too calm for my liking. I hate to think “hoax”, but it really feels like that is a possibility at this point. I actually hope so, because then it would mean she is fine!

    ————————————————————–
One neighbor heard dogs barking and male voices coming from the Isa’s home at 6:30 am. One would think if Isa was taken by strangers she would have put up a fuss. Also, if the neighbor’s story is true, Isa’s Mom should have heard something as she was up and getting ready to go to work. Parent’s story does not add up.

  42. SouthernMom says:

Reason that have me believing bio’s:

    1. Parents haven’t lawyered up.

    2. Agree I would have been in media’s face before now, but parents say they weren’t ready – too devastated, I can understand that. When LE started pressing them, they gathered the courage to do so…possible in my mind anyway.

    3. Police have indicated everytime they have spoken, family, parents are fully cooperating.

    4. Last visit to house with separate family members was voluntary, NOT under search warrant or LE force.

    5. If bios are guilty of anything, I believe it is in knowing police suspect a family member and not wanting to accept it.

MOO! MOO! MOO! at least until more information is known.

@Lyla, agreed mom could have been getting ready at 6:30, but also could have woken up at 7 to leave for 7:30 as well and with Isa’s bedroom on the other side of house didn’t hear any ruckus as neighbor did.

I am guilty of sleeping through “familiar” (as in my own dog’s) barking on occasion when I’m really tired. They went to bed late, so I can accept this could have happened.

    Prayers for Isa.

  43. SouthernMom says:

I should clarify my earlier comment regarding dogs barking and ruckus. For now, I’m going with the idea the dogs made a fuss but didn’t go crazy. I’m currently of the belief someone familiar with the family and dogs, like the “uncle/cousin”, could have been the perp or party to this abduction, so I’m assuming dogs may have been barking but not going ballistic. According to neighbor, there was barking but nothing alarming enough to cause her to check out the situation. If bios are to be believed, then this is also the case.

I’m confused, but still holding out hope parents are not involved directly in abduction or cover-up. I could believe LE has led them to believe a family member is involved and they are holding onto the hope that is not the case or haven’t been privvy yet to LE’s discoveries. Could very well be LE knows who did it and are trying to determine if bios and siblings were or were not part of the “plan” or cover-up. MOO.

    Prayers for Isa.

  44. Kris says:

Maybe mom was still in the shower at 6:30. Here’s a possible scenario: Parents say no one was over the night before, but what if “uncle” and a friend come by to get high with dad, after mom and kids are in bed. They crash there. Friend wakes up around 6:00 and goes into Isa’s room. a few minutes later, he hears mom get up to start getting ready for work. He pushes the screen out from the inside, thinking that mom is about to come into Isa’s room. Mom gets in shower instead and friend slips out the front door with Isa. Uncle wakes up after Dad notices that Isa is gone and helps Dad look for her. Friend is already gone. Idk….just speculation.

  45. Kris says:

I get the impression that the window was pushed out from the inside, which might be one of the reasons LE is still looking at parents. If someone was hiding in Isa’s room, about to molest her and then heard mom get up for work, he might have pushed the screen out to escape (afraid that he was about to be caught in the little girl’s room.) When mom gets into the shower instead, he leaves through the front door with Isa. This is a horrible thought, but he could have molested and killed Isa in the house while everyone slept. Realizing that he can’t leave her body there, he puts her in the back seat of the non-operative car in the drive way/garage. Maybe the dogs were going crazy and he saw mom leaving for work, so he hides until she pulls out and then gets the body out of the car to move again to another location. I say this because it seems like the cadaver dogs might have gotten a hit and I think I heard there was some evidence found in the back seat of the non-operative car. These things would surely make the parents look guilty, especially if dad is lying about having someone over the night before. That would cause him to fail the polygraph as well. Just thinking out loud and trying to speculate how something could have happened without the parents being responsible. I really, truly hope they didn’t hurt their own child.

  46. Kris says:

Yep, have put that file under observation, thank you.
    B

  47. SouthernMom says:

Kris – not a bad speculation. I am thinking bios are not involved, however, if I were to speculate one was involved even remotely, it would be the Dad…ala your scenario.
