Denise Figueroa, 22,  was found deceased in the trunk of her car yesterday following a tip to Los Angeles News Station KTLA via fax. The car had been abandoned for several days and several obscenities were keyed into the passenger side of the vehicle.

Denise Figueroa’s family of North  Hills, reported her missing to Los Angeles Police on Monday March 3, 2009. Subsequent phone calls by the family to known associates of Figueroa were able to confirm who she was last seen with, information which was immediately turned over to the investigators. Adele Chapel and Christopher Bullock were mentioned by name in the fax. A man by the name of Adele Chapel is reportedly incarcerated on unrelated charges but cannot be confirmed it is the same individual at this time.

According to the victim’s uncle, Daniel Sanchez , the LAPD have been uncooperative with them in Figueroa’s case since they reported her missing.

While the coroner was removing his niece’s body from the black Nissan Altima registered to her, he was visibly distraught at the scene.

“..We called Police and we told them who she was last seen with.. We told them he called her dad and said he was sorry that he had to hurt her..and we told them that and they were uncooperative and did nothing.. they shut the door, it’s like they shut the door right on us..”

Lt. Allan Hamilton of LAPD, speaking to the media, said:

“Something occurred inside the vehicle,” but declined to give details. He said the car was being taken to a secure facility for a thorough investigation.

I don’t get it… Why didn’t the police investigate the reports filed by Figueroa’s family? Obviously, the person responsible is willing to be held accountable for his actions. But, that doesn’t mean that they don’t need to do their job. It will be interesting to know if she was dead before being placed in the trunk, or if her death could have been prevented with a little good, caring police work. If it is determined that she died in the trunk, long after she was placed there; no doubt there will be a lawsuit filed.

Scoop, I didnt put this in the article, but the fax said she was murdered on February 28th. I could not confirm that, so I left it out.

I am under the impression something happened in the car, and that the other kid helped the suspect clean up. The family did not know she missing that I know of until Mar.3rd; I suspect she was already dead.

However, your point is well taken that time was of the essence in any case, as we all know degredation of evidence is instant.

I’m willing to bet the fax came from the suspects family.

May God bless her family & may Denise Figueroa rest forever within the peace of God.
Like her family, I am outraged at the LAPD/NOHO police. This is our neighborhood & several of us have called & spoke with police on countless occasions about the abnormal & sketchy behavior always prevalent on both Hortense & Kling Streets. Police still don’t have a clue!!
If they do not catch the person(s) responsible for this crime, the scum responsible will surely face God’s wrath. If the scum are not caught by the ineffective police & come back near this neighborhood, they’d definitely better think twice.
The Valley Village Neighborhood Watch will not hesitate to put “Operation Vigilante Justice” into effect.
CRIMINALS & SCUMBAGS STAY OUT OF
    VALLEY VILLAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The LAPD are overwhelmed with cases. I was hit by a drunk driver several years ago and the suspect ran off before the cops showed up. This was at 2 in the morning. It took them almost 2 hours to get to the scene. When they did they told me that chances were good nothing would happen to the guy because I didn’t die, even though it was a felony hit and run. If the guy had stayed at the scene he would have gotten into more trouble for being drunk, so being the scumbag he was he ran off, knowing full well he was avoiding a jail sentence by doing so. He had obviously done that sort of thing before. LA is just way too big with way too few cops on the streets. It’s a disgrace. This is why they never seem to catch the bad guys and why it’s like the wild west out here, because it literally is. And then we have the Terminator as our governor who should be increasing funding for police and education but instead has taken money out of the system in these important areas. California has never been in such a mess. Serves the idiots right who voted for an idiot actor and ousted Grey Davis who had a brain in his head at least. Turns out the reasons for Gray Davis being ousted didn’t have anything to do with what he did, it was a scam the Bush administration pulled on CA during his administration.
