Body of Missing Idaho Child Robert Manwill Found in Canal
Boise, ID– The body of 8 year old missing Boise child Robert Manwill has been positively identified as confirmed by sources on the scene speaking to blinkoncrime on the condition of anonymity.
Yesterday afternoon, authorities pulled the body of a small boy matching Robert’s description from the New York canal in rural Ada County, Boise.
Robert was reported missing by his Mother Melissa Jenkins, after 9:30PM on July 24th.. However, sources inside the investigation believe that timeline to be considerably off.
In the past 3 days, the Boise Police asissted by the FBI and Team Adam, appeared to be narrowing their focus as they cordoned off portions of a landfill, began excavating the backayard of Evan Wallis, and were seen removing large pieces of carpet and other evidence from the apartment of Robert’s Mother and her boyfriend, Daniel Ehrlick, Jr.
Mr. Wallis alleges his truck, a Chevy Suburban, which may be tied to Robert’s disappearance, was stolen from his home on July 22nd and recovered by him upon his return Monday July 27th from a weekend away.
Ms. Jenkins is currently on probation for fracturing the skull of her infant daughter.

My opinion:
The couple hid Robert in a closet so the Social Workers would not see
his bruises. “Grandpa” saw the bruises and did nothing. The Siblings
of (Daniel Jr)saw Robert’s bruise and did nothing.
“Grandpa” was a Vietnam War Veteran (reportly) I would have expected
more from anyone, especially, a man who saw suffering in a War zone.
He condoned or allowed Robert to suffer merciless, at the hands of his
Sadistic son. “Grandpa” said nothing? Did nothing? He had less guts than anyone did. He could have but did not rescue, this little eight-year kid. Instead, Robert suffered at night in a crib and in the day in the closet. Grandpa (his friend) who took him fishing, allowed him to be rubbed out from the face of the earth, so disappointing.

Robert Manwill should not be deceased, he should not be dead. He did not die in flood, he did not have a disease, he died of neglect. He

Would a ‘wellness visit’ have prevented Robert’s death?
If someone would had called the police, and requested a wellness
visit for Robert, would the police insisted on checking the closets?
Perhaps the cops would have requested politely if they could “look
around” and then opened the closet’s?
If any of the people, who knew about Robert’s baseball-sized bruises,
would have given one phone call to the police, only to request a pop
in visit, I just wonder if the child would still be here today?
I realize the couple were both on probation? None of these Donkey’s, wanted to have these two jailed for abuse. Robert was the martyr, because of the louses, who did not even have a Teaspoon of courage, to do anything decent, to save a little life.

Robert was hid “twice” from the social worker. The back closet was
where the two louses, ducked Robert. Someone would have needed to yelled loud, in order for Robert to hear a voice.
I just can not believe how these two got away, with this monsterous abuse. Did the social worker check out Jenkins alibi, of “sending Robert back to New Plymouth”?
The dog was Robert’s only friend.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys at the 1st degree murder trial of Daniel Ehrlick have closed their cases without a key witness ever taking the stand; Ehrlick’s former girlfriend Melissa Jenkins.
After a short session of followup questions by Ada County deputy prosecutor Jill Longhurst and a redirect by defense attorney Gus Cahill, Judge Darla Williamson dismissed the jury until Thursday afternoon.
Attorneys will now have time to polish their closing arguments and hammer out details in the instructions Williamson will give the jury before they deliberate.
After Tuesday’s short session, Williamson said the case had been “exhausting. It is such tough case. …so much preparation (for the attorneys).”
Prosecutors say Ehrlick killed 8-year-old Robert Manwill during weeks of escalating violence in the summer of 2009. The child disappeared on July 24, drawing thousands from the community into a search. Manwill’s battered body was later found in an irrigation canal near Kuna.
Earlier Tuesday, under persistent questioning from Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Jill Longhurst, Ehrlick admitted he and former girlfriend Jenkins actively hid Manwill from Health and Welfare workers because he was bruised from a punishment called “dead-bugging.”
Ehrlick also admitted that while the child was laying on the floor with his arms and legs in the air, he lowered his 270-pound weight onto the child’s body.
In the months since the boy disappeared on July 24, 2009, Ehrlick has said he’s lost about 60 pounds while in custody.
Officials have said the child suffered internal injuries, head injuries and was bleeding internally.

The prosecution highlighted one piece of evidence in their final day: the “Find Robert” shirts worn by Ehrlick and other members of the community in 2009.
One hospital psychiatric clinician testified she saw Ehrlick do something to the shirt that didn’t sit well with her.
“The shirt was on the floor and when they were leaving him away, he walked over the shirt and kicked it aside in what struck me as a rather disrespectful thing to do,” said Jane Baker, clinician at Saint Alphonsus.
The defense will start their case on Thursday. Closing arguments are scheduled for June 30.

Ehlrick, Sr., was a marine who served in Vietnam and currently works at the Veteran’s Administration. Manwill was clearly like a grandson to him and he testified about picking him up from his New Plymouth home for the summer.
“He was a great kid. He was a talker. He talked a lot. I enjoyed his company a lot ‘cause when I went to New Plymouth he liked to talk,” said Ehrlick, Sr. “It wasn’t just about him, it was about his dad about his grandpa’s ranch and stuff like that.
“He could talk about lot of stuff. A couple of times on the way back she (Melissa Jenkins) would say Robert you need to shut up for now and I’d rather listen to him than the radio in the truck,” said Ehrlick, Sr.
Manwill had a wonderful and happy summer in 2008, but in 2009 things would change.
“He lost a lot of weight and I questioned it with Melissa and it was, ‘he eats and he goes throw it up,’” said Ehrlick, Sr.

Grandpa was a former marine for crying out loud. Seven weeks Robert suffered bruises, all over his body, and no one did anything about it. Jenkins had to put long pants on Robert, because the bruises were visible.

At the end of a day’s worth of arguments, gruesome photographs and impassioned pleas, an Ada County deputy prosecutor pointed at Daniel Ehrlick and told him he was about to be held accountable for the death of a child.
Less than three hours later, the jury handed down the decision: Guilty of first-degree murder by torture and aggravated battery.
Ehrlick slumped in his chair after sitting upright and attentive throughout the trial. Afterward, he would not look at the jurors and stared at the defense table.
He faces up to life in prison.

BOISE — After about two hours of deliberation, the jury finds Daniel Ehrlick guilty of the murder of 8-year-old Robert Manwill.
The jury ended deliberation at about 9 p.m. Thursday, and announced their verdict.
Daniel Ehrlick was found guilty of the following charges:
1st degree murder by torture and commission of aggravated battery
Failure to report a death to authorities
Robert Manwill, 8, went missing in July of 2009. His body was found almost two weeks later in the New York Canal near Kuna.
Daniel Ehrlick’s murder trial lasted 28 days. The closing arguments began at 1 p.m. Thursday and lasted until about 6:30 p.m. The jury deliberated for just over two hours before announcing their guilty verdict just after 9 p.m.
Soon after the verdict, Judge Darla Williamson addressed the jury and thanked them for their dedication and service following the verdict.
“I found this case to be one of the most difficult, complicated, fascinating and interesting cases I’ve ever had as a trial judge,” said Judge Williamson.
Outside the courtroom, Robert’s father Charles thanked law enforcement and the community for all of their help and support:
“It’s been a long two years, but today, the system worked and we got some justice for my son. I want to extend my thanks to the Boise Police Department, Ada County Prosecutor’s Office and the City of Boise and surrounding areas for all the support we got and help from the public. Thank you.”
Trish Burrell, Robert Manwill’s aunt, has served as the family’s spokesperson since the search for Robert began in 2009. She spoke with KTVB’s Scott Evans following the verdict.
“These two years have been the hardest thing a family could ever go through. We lost a child. And then our family, we lost Melissa, we lost Aidan, we lost a whole piece of our family because of two people’s stupid decisions.”
“We have closure. Robert has justice. And God will take care of the rest of it,” Trish said.
Scott asked Trish if there was any point during the trial that she thought Ehrlick might not be found guilty.
She responded, “Oh yeah, absolutely. Who didn’t think that? There wasn’t any fingerprints. There wasn’t any DNA. There wasn’t any CSI, Law and Order effect in this case. But once I sat there through closing arguments, I knew. They had it. They knew exactly what they were doing and they did a very good job at it.”
Throughout the trial, Ehrlick told the court that his main focus was Aidan, Melissa Jenkins’ youngest son. Ehrlick said he took Aidan in as his own, even though he was not the boy’s biological father.
During closing arguments, prosecutors told the jury the reason Ehrlick abused Robert, and eventually killed him, was to keep the young boy from telling anyone about the abuse he endured. The prosecution said if anyone found out about what was happening in that apartment that summer, Aidan would be taken away.
Scott Evans asked Trish what Ehrlick’s murder conviction means for Aidan.
“Aidan’s gone. He was adopted out. Out-of-state. He’s gone,” Trish replied.

Casey’s trial was predominate and I understand.
Good thing, Ehrlick’s trial, did not have national coverage (as I mentioned, earlier) because of “dead bugging”. I think that idea would given too many ideas to even an innocent mind, like children playing with that idea.
No one protected the sweet child, I agree. I can not think of how to fix this situation with ‘turning back the clock’. People who do not a conscience or any fudging guts, nothing could be undone. They all were
wimps, I don’t care how they testified, the family members were the worse people. This should have never have happened to Robert.
I am glad I could be of service.
The real hero (in my opinion) is the detective who got Ehrlick to confess. That confession was really the nail in his coffin.
I believe there are many heros in this case, but the real hero’s are
the detectives who “proved it” to Ehrlick.
Robert wanted to be a Cartoonist when he grew up. Ehrlick was jealous of Robert is my opinion. Robert probaby sketched better than Ehrlick,
and did everything a little better him.
I would not have adopted out his little half-brother, “he’s gone”
Auntie said. The child will eventually find out, who his mother is.
Is it better now or when the child is eighteen, to find out this horrific news?
The adopted child will look-up records and add up events, he probably
looks like Jenkins. Can you imagine in ten years, (or more) how fluid
information will be? All children will have cell phones, and he will
download events, just like the rest of us.
This just goes to show us how little human life means in her family.

Three times a week for an unknown number of weeks, employees and contractors with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare visited the home where Robert was living in June and July 2009 with his mother and Ehrlick.
A court order banned Jenkins from living there because she had fractured the skull of Robert’s baby brother, who lived with Ehrlick, his legal father. If the order had been enforced, neither Jenkins nor Robert would have been living there.
• Health and Welfare workers who visited the home failed to physically inspect Robert for signs of abuse, court records show.
• State welfare workers received three previous reports regarding Jenkins and her family before finally acting in 2008 when Jenkins fractured the skull of Robert’s infant brother, Aidan. snip

I was wrong, turning back the clock, things should have been changed.
The paper may have misinformation on Ehrlick. He is not be the Bio father to Aiden. Ehrlick did say he was, but according to testimony
during the Trial, he admitted he wasn’t, is my understanding.

Sept. 2 sentencing set in Robert Manwill’s death

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Boise woman and her then-boyfriend, convicted of their roles in the 2009 death of the woman’s 8-year-old son, are scheduled to be sentenced early next month.
The Idaho Statesman (http://bit.ly/r7KcEE) reports her sentencing has been rescheduled to Sept. 2 due to scheduling conflicts with defense attorneys. Ehrlick is to be sentenced on Sept. 2 after being convicted of first-degree murder. He faces up to life in prison.

Daniel Ehrlick sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of Robert Manwill

Fourth District Judge Darla Williamson sentenced Ehrlick Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the beating death of his girlfriend’s 8-year-old boy.
Ada County prosecutors say Ehrlick has never taken responsibility for the death of Robert Manwill, and when he had a chance to address the court Friday — and the boy’s family and friends who filled the courtroom — Ehrlick stayed silent.
Ada County prosecutors say Ehrlick beat Melissa Jenkins’ son to death over a series of weeks in the summer of 2009 at the family’s Bench area apartment. They say the boy died of head and chest injuries some time between July 23 and 24 of 2009, and then he was thrown in the New York Canal.
When the boy disappeared, it turned into national news and sparked a community-wide search that included more than 2,300 volunteers and the FBI.
Ehrlick and Jenkins were arrested Aug. 18, 2009, and both were charged with first-degree murder.
An Ada County jury found Ehrlick guilty of first-degree murder in June, following a two month trial.
Ehrlick has consistently denied killing the boy and even testified on his own behalf at the end of the trial.
Jenkins pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second degree murder earlier this year. She will be sentenced later today.

BOISE — An Idaho man and his ex-girlfriend learned their fates Friday morning in the death of 8-year-old Robert Manwill in 2009.
Daniel Ehrlick was sentenced in a packed Boise courtroom Friday for the first-degree murder of Robert Manwill. The boy’s body was found in an irrigation canal about a week after his disappearance set off a massive search across Boise.
Ehrlick will not have the possibility of parole.
Separately, the boy’s mother, Melissa Jenkins was sentenced to 25 years in prison for her role in the death after pleading guilty earlier.
“Everyone knows, no question about it, you could have prevented the death of your son,” Jude Darla Williamson said to a tearful Jenkins. “I’m just not buying it, that you have all this remorse. I just don’t think that’s sincere. You just didn’t care.”
Jenkins addressed the courtroom before her fate was delivered.
“It’s all true,” she said. “Robert Manwill should not be dead.”
Williamson said she would have liked to impose a sentence greater than 25 years, but was limited by law.
Ehrlick was convicted in June of beating Robert to death, then stuffing rocks in the boy’s pants pockets and dumping his body in the canal.

Fourth District Judge Darla Williamson agreed to the 25-year fixed sentence Melissa Jenkins agreed to in a deal earlier this year when she pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting a second-degree murder in the death of her son, Robert Manwill.

If I were King for a Day, I would send “grandpa” to jail. I would
sentence him a year, for every bruise that he saw on Robert’s neck.
I would send him for jail to send a message, if you see something say something.
He had the power within him to save Robert,instead he saved his
own son first, over a child. He did not speak out until his butt
was on the line.
I hope “grandpa” does not sleep one night for the next twenty years.
Robert should haunt him morning, noon and night.
This is only my opinion.
