J4M, I’m sorry I didn’t take time to respond to your confessional (haha) post, but I thought it was compelling and appropriate, just like everything you’ve been saying to the perp and those who know him lately. Your follow-up made me lol. Trust me, I don’t judge what anyone did in those dreaded teen years, and hardly you since you showed courage in ultimately telling the truth. Again, that is exactly what those who know the perp need to remember.
I am choosing to view the FM closing hopefully, but that could be silly of me. That Hook thread could only have dismayed the Harringtons; it alone could have been enough … I guess.

If the Red Hill road area was a “hang-out” spot for some of the LE and first responders, could one of them have a key that opened the lock on the gate to the road? That would make access very simple and quick.
To be truthful, I completely forgot about the local LE and some others possibly not passing a smell test for good behavior.
I hope that the VSP have called in fire experts to carefully go over the several fire sites that may have some revelance to this case.
I am not commenting on who investigated the fire on Sutherland, but I am personally not satisfied at the answers I got about the investigation itself, and am on record. It was not investigated by VSP.

Are you saying that VSP has not consulted with fire experts on the house fire?? With it being so close to AF and the fire occuring so close to Morgan’s discovery, it would seem a no brainer that VSP bring in experts to investigate the fire. Please don’t tell me that the NGVFD did the “investigating”.
Such a shame about the findmorgan.com forum. I guess we here at BOC’s are the last ones standing with the Harrington’s.

I would like to acknowledge those that posted and administrated there that put their heart and soul into initially finding Morgan, and then of course, supporting the Harrington’s.

Something is “Rotten in Denmark” regarding this investigation. It now makes me think that someone, or perhaps several, in this crowd of local LE and Fire/EMT personell that hung out in the Red Hill road area is involved and they are getting assistance in a cover-up.
Sloppy investigative techniques and poor communication to the Harrington’s and the public who are concerned leads one to believe the above.
Local people at Charlottsville and the surrounding communities need to start asking some tough questions of local LE and maybe writing some letters to VSP and even the FBI.
Most volunteer fire companies are made up of people who like to serve their communities. However, they often lack good training in actually fighting a fire and doing a proper investigation of the scene after the fire is out.
A little over fifty years ago I was involved in designing,building and operating a fire training facility to train people to properly fight petroleum fires. We learned a great deal by having observers photograph and take notes while observing what worked and what didn’t. We also spent time looking at photos and the physical damage caused by the fire. Based on this experience,we made many changes to our facility and how to best fight this type of fire.
Texas A & M University became interested in our work and incorporated many of our findings when they built their fire training facility that is used by fire fighting companies from all over the United States.
Yes, I know more than a little about how to fight a fire and to investigate it properly afterwards.
Haven’t been able to keep up the past couple of weeks so excuse me if this question has been asked or discussed. Is it possible that Sketch might be the father/relative of one of the BB players, which was why he was in Charlottesville? And going one step further, if this could be the case, maybe the BB player suspected father/relative, thus trying to thwart the investigation by placing the shirt in the part of town where it was found ???
Did LE have enough of the FM group questioning their approach to the case? Or is this about something else entirely? What do you know Blink?
It is my opinion that LE had nothing whatsoever to do with it. VSP and other agencies in this case are professionals. They would expect in a case that is 10 months old without an arrest to be questioned.
While they may not like it, they would have no cause or standing to request closure of a public forum.

Justice, that is my belief but I believe I’m in the minority. The last people to talk with Morgan were students, the last person to see her was a student, the shirt was found in a student section of town and Anchorage Farm has had students there for parties, fraternity events, etc. I believe Sketch (or a close relative of Sketch) was with the players (also students).

It must be horribly frustrating to have the site taken down without warning or explanation. (Not that the Harrington’s owe anyone an explanation.) I have been reading here (and only here) since November. I checkin first thing in the morning and several times throughout the day. It is part of my daily routine–EVERYDAY. I would freak out if Blink disappeared! I have learned more about the state of Virginia than I ever wanted to know, in the quest to help determine what happened to dear, sweet Miss M. I think you will find the posters here to be extremely intelligent, filled with passion and integrity. Not to mention, we have a fabulous moderator!

The Find Morgan (FM) Forum MAY be down for something as small as a software upgrade, or as large as VSP having the proof they feel they need to charge and prosecute those responsible for Morgan’s death, or several possibilities in between. If VSP have the evidence in place and are processing the warrants to arrest the perps, it would be best NOT to have FM online giving the defense attorney research and information they should not be privy to at this point. Remember that VSP advised the Harrington’s of the sketch well before we the public knew of it, and in this possibility, it would be even MORE important. Please Lord, let this be the case.
In that Blink appears to strongly believe that this case is making progress, the timing of FM being shuttered is appropriate.
My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Gil, Dr Dan & Alex Harrington, Morgan’s family. They will have no way to see the reflection of all who used Find Morgan Forum to tell them how much they are loved and supported. Let’s keep them in our hearts, minds and prayers as this search for Morgan’s killer(s) progresses.

Not that he/UVA knew that a BB player murdered Morgan Harrington just that they suspected something.

This would get screams from across UVA and the City of Charlottesville communities! I met some of those people, I stood elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder, and yes, even on that bridge!
They are good, true, honest, wanting of resolution, people.

Yes, I was stupid enough to believe that I would make a difference in going in November. I felt pain and dispair all over again. But, I am not so stupid today. Something feels strange.
The only thing I can say is that I was also holding out hope. Hope that she might have hit her head and was suffering from amenesia and was wondering the streets, so to speak. I went delusionally thinking this because I wanted to believe it. I believed it before. It didn’t end well there, either. The minute I saw those faces of her parents in person, well, I knew I had done the right thing. I needed to be there for them and selfishly, for myself.
So much so, I ingrained it into my own.
I saw and heard LE there. They walked with us. They wanted to find her. I had a 2 hour talk with the LE guy that I went out with. He was committed to being there for Dr. Harrington. He held respect for him. He wanted to find his daughter. There were enough people from this community. I also met them. They were in our group. They wanted to help, console, guide, love, and support.

UVA and Cville came out in a big way and we all knew it.
Felt it.

So, if this is what has happened and even if there was an itty-bitty knowledge or suspicion then that will be a massive amount of egg on the face that is UVA….Thomas Jefferson, himself.

I am not a consistent poster, here or at FM, yet, I have closely followed this case, as well as following the posts in both forums, since the very beginning. Thus, I am familiar with those amazing and informative maps. They were quite helpful!
I think the Harringtons can feel the love and support coming from all of us.
While I have no inside info on the FindMorgan forum, I do know that they were re-evaluating the way it was run, one of the admins had said he was stepping down as admin, and they were having problems with a spammer here or there, as well as trolls. The site states “the forum is taking a break”. How some one could extrapolate from that the site is closed for good, or shut down is beyond me. IMO the forum will return shortly, perhaps with new rules and regulations.
I hope so. One rule I believe is in order, is that people are who they say they are.
That, and of course, eliminating PM’s.

I cannot speak to the reason why Dr. Harrington chose to close the FM forum, but am hopeful that this is only a temporary hiatus.
I can, however, categorically state this: What I witnessed on the Hook forum was nothing less than reprehensible.
I repeat: reprehensible.
For one or more posters on the Hook to repeatedly denigrate the efforts of one of the FM admins and question the integrity of his intentions was unconscionable.
While admittedly still a neophyte when it comes to on-line communities, I remain appalled at the behavior of certain individuals. It takes only one or two people to poison a room–even a virtual, on-line room. To my mind, that is precisely what these individuals did, knowingly and willfully.
I take no personal offense, but I am highly offended for Dan Harrington and the other admins at FM. I wish them nothing but peace and well-deserved rest.

You are a poet! I’m in awe.
Here’s the thing. Maybe the players didn’t even realize that somebody walking with them could be responsible. I’m not accusing the players or UVa or the Charlottesville community of any sort of widespread coverup, although I do believe someone is covering something. Given the facts as we know them, it’s logical to question whether or not a family member or friend of the players was with them when they talked to Morgan.
We know the basketball players were the last ones to talk with Morgan. We know that “forensic evidence” links Sketch to Morgan. Until further information becomes available, it’s logical to conclude that Sketch and the basketball players have some sort of connection, even if it’s just being parked in the same lot that night. From what I can gather, that particular lot is predominantly an athletic parking lot during JPJA events. So I must logically conclude that Sketch is either an athlete or a friend/family member of an athlete. Since I believe his age precludes him from being an athlete attending UVa, he must be a friend or family member.
Going by Sketch’s prior MO, it is possible he could have attacked Morgan after the players left the lot. But then why Anchorage Farm? And why the shirt? In the previous assault we are aware of, did he have a rural area picked out ahead of time in which to dispose of the body? Did he try to remove any clothing, or take any jewelry?
I do not believe Morgan was hitchhiking. In fact, I do not believe she was on the bridge at all. Which leads me to ask: Why did someone say she was?
Let me just say this (which is just my opinion): Sketch is a friend or a family member of a student residing in the UVa community.
I also believe Sketch is a professional, not blue collar, and that he would be the last person someone would suspect of this heinous crime.
I believe Morgan walked with the players into the lot for a reason: To get a ride, drink a beer, or smoke a joint. Nothing unusual in this day and time. I think the players had to have been extremely tired. They had practiced the previous night, had strength training that morning and then another practice. The may not have noticed their friend/family member acting any differently that night.
As this case has progressed I was first focused on the basketball players, then EMH, but since DNA doesn’t point to EMH, I’m back to focusing on the players — this time on wondering exactly which players were in the lot that night, and which ones had family members with them.
I’m really looking forward to the FM crew hanging out over here as long as they need to.

I, like many others possibly, didn’t realize it was Dr. Harrington’s choice to close the FM forum. Obviously, he had a very good reason to do so ~ I don’t know Dr. Harrington personally but, from what I know of him, I’m sure he would not have taken that step unless it was absolutely necessary.
Hopefully the situation that caused the forum to be closed will be resolved soon and the forum will be back up.
It is disgusting how people have treated Kenny. Kenny is obviously an extremely kind individual with a huge heart. Anyone who would treat him badly isn’t worth the time of day.

This idea is probably way off base – maybe Sketch is the one who put the shirt on the bush. Sketch looks pretty scary, to me. Many feel that the killer had lots of knowledge of AF. It just seems to me that someone around there would remember him. In their nightmares at least. I even went next door to the neighbors from Roanoke and had Carolyn pull it up on her computer. In fact they’re at Smith Mountain Lake right now. I begged her to please ask some of the locals. I have ties to that area and have always loved the mountains. My father was from Franklin County – ya’ll know what that’s famous for….and Mama was from Giles County – Rich Creek and Glen Lyn on the banks of New River – in fact one of the two oldest rivers in the world – the other is the Nile. They both flow from south to north. OK – no more geology. Keep on huntin’.

Re-entry from our week at the beach has been hard. You can loose yourself in the vastness of the sea and drown the memories that fight for attention. Since returning we have all been on the skids, not sure exactly why. Could be that the cumulative grief load has finally grown into an incapacitating, crippling mass.
I have lost some of the emotional equilibrium that I had gathered and find myself again rapidly cycling several times a day. At moments I’m standing on a shaky platform of OK and then am seized by despair. Today’s trigger was walking into a store featuring back to school/decorate your dorm stuff. It took my breath away. Had to jettison my list and leave.
It’s not that I begrudge others the pleasure of this nesting and planning, rather its that it brings floods of memories of how Morgan and I planned and shopped to launch her into her “grown up” life at VT. Hopes and dreams for Morgan’s life were ended by a savage murder.
I watch young fresh faced girls and their mamas searching for the perfect set of sheets for college. My experience of that shared activity is tainted by my overlay, because my memory is of cutting Morgan’s perfect college sheets off her bed and bagging them as scent items for dogs. That thought cascade pulls me right back down again into the rabbit hole of WHY?
It’s a tough place we’ve been forced into, an ugly world of sadness /death/ DNA/ and murder. This is where Morgan’s death has taken us and so we must follow as well as we can. We are able to soldier on because the love, support, and prayers of many holds us up. The past 9 months have been full of uncertainty and darkness but we seek to give birth to truth and to find answers, not for retribution but to protect the next girl. I’m not looking for satisfaction. What I’m after is safety, so that another precious life is not ended by this evil.

I didn’t post in the forum a bunch but it is a little odd to shut it down without warning. You had a ton of good people thinking they were helping with a good cause you have probably alienated at this point. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking and that’s what that forum was. People that cared enough about a cause to help in any way they could. There are some great minds that if this forum ever opens again that probably won’t return. I hope for everyone that posted in a positive manner on that site and the family VSP has solved this. If not you probably lost some great assets in getting the attention this case deserves.
Like I said. I didn’t live on the forum like others that breathed this horrible incident and the family owes them nothing but at least offer an apology or a reason that forum is down for the good will and time invested.
I apologize of this seems harsh, is isn’t intended to be that way. It’s hard to judge emotion from behind a keyboard but you had people that cared. That’s all.

OK, I find that to be very disturbing, wth is going on here? DNA is back, as far as we know, the “sketch” has been out for weeks, and still nothing. I’m beginning to wonder if someone planted “Sketch”‘s DNA on the shirt, someone who would have access to it from the previous crime in ’05. Or does someone have something on the local cops who “hung out” in the AF area. Is there a local cop connection to a drug ring in the area?
Something just doesn’t sit right for me with this case, and it’s been that way since the beginning. If there’s no LE/EMT connection, then I think it must have been a lone perp, I don’t think more than one person could keep this quiet for so long.
And why on Earth was the Sutherland fire site not checked out by fire experts? That’s very odd.

It seems that the investigation is moving forward and we are all in Limbo as to what is next.
We have all spent our time and energy hoping, praying and sleuthing. Wanting to help in any way we could. With the closing of FM it seems as though another chapter has ended in Morgan’s journey.
With nothing new since the release of the sketch, we have come to our own crossroads of sorts. Where do we go from here? How can we continue to help? We are weary and we are ever hopeful.
I hope to hear of an arrest soon. For now, I will leave you all with a recent article about Morgan. I think the picture of her on the beach is breathtaking, and quite appropriate given Gil’s latest trip.

I have done nothing BUT support the Harringtons. You are welcome to ask them yourself.
This is MY SITE and MY Reputation, and I will not have it be dragged through the mud some more by anonymous persons. The whole reason the forum was closed is because there are a few that think it is ok to bash others, similar to what you just did.
You think I would ever promote the potential for that? I can only vet who comes here.
