Kyron Horman Missing and Endangered: Grand Jury Meets, Indictment Imminent
Portland, OR- In the case of missing 7-year-old Portland child Kyron Horman, developments today continue to unfold at lightening speed.
During a poorly-kept secret convening of a special grand jury that is in session today, sources inside the investigation believe it’s triers of fact will return an indictment against Terri Horman and possibly one other individual.
It is however, unclear as to whether or not the grand jury is hearing evidence in the alleged murder for hire plot MCSO informed Kaine Horman his wife had master-minded, OR evidence surrounding the disappearance of Kaine and Desiree Young’s son Kyron.
KOIN caught Terri Horman’s friend DeDe Spicher, who was subpoenaed to appear in the proceedings this morning, on video with her attorney, entering the courthouse. Spicher was the subject of a public plea asking her to cooperate with investigators by Kaine Horman and Desiree Young last week. A neighbor of Spicher’s has confirmed the FBI has been seen removing boxes and unknown bagged material from her residence.
According to several sources, DeDe Spicher, Terri’s roommate post Kaine’s restraining order, was working in a garden near the Horman home the day of Kyron’s disappearance when she received a call at approximately 11:15 am. She left abruptly, returning at approximately 1:00 pm. DeDe was unreachable on her cell phone during that time and the property owner became concerned. Spicher is a long time friend and workout companion of Horman’s.
Earlier today, Laura Rackner, Kaine Horman’s Family Law attorney filed a motion to find out where the funds are coming from to foot the bill for Terri Horman’s high profile criminal defense attorney, Stephen Houze.
In Horman’s motion, he is seeking the disclosure of the payments made to Houze, and whether or not it came from marital funds. If it has, Kaine Horman wants half the cash to pay his own legal bills. Kaine Horman alleges that Terri Horman disclosed to a third party that she paid a whopping $350,000 retainer to Houze, however, provided no proof of same in the papers filed today.
In what appears to be a media timing coup, tonight’s episode of Dateline NBC will feature Kaine Horman, Desiree and Tony Young, with interviews and coverage of Kyron’s disappearance.
Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, Mary Lindstrand, has announced a press conference tomorrow at the MCSO Training Facility, beginning at 2:00 pm PST.

That could definitely be related to the moral cesspool comment you made. It’s being speculated on SM that TH met Kaine through being a topless dancer or something now. TH could very well know a lot of very shady characters. Maybe nothing new for her.

I don’t “blame” Kyron’s parents for what has happened to him…I really feel bad for them and I truely feel sorry for the situation they find themselves in. I’m not going to repeat what I’ve already said but my opinion hasn’t changed….responsibilty for the life you bring into the world has to out weigh personal satisfaction. I’m not talking about abuse of any kind so please don’t slam me with “what if …blagh blagh blagh” I’m speaking ONLY of personal satisfaction. If that makes me cruel in your eyes, then so be it. MOO

cbickel…I too thought about the sub. What if Tanner mistakenly thought the chaperone for the SF exhibition was THE sub for the day. LE is only telling us what they want to know. I’ve had my own thoughts and ideas and am usually wrong. This case has bothered me more than most. Don’t know why but I am just going to have to follow Blink on this and trust her. She knows more than us and if she doubted what was going on in the investigation she would’ve been the first to holler bout it. At first I said TH was guilty then I think I saw TH as the underdog and the one for everyone to jump on but the more I see I’m guess I’m gonna have to go with my first instinct.

I live in a nice little bubble and liked it that way, then this happened. I think once this case is solved I will go back to living in that bubble with my furkids and try to deal with the horror of the situation. They are such great therapy.
I have no problem with sexual orientation. But what I have read and heard about just spins my world.

I didn’t see the photos of the restaurant in the photo link, only the bridge construction, but now Blink is also mentioning the restaurant, Azteca, oh, duh, it’s the lead photo! So what was on the menu there on June 4th and they weren’t able to “serve it” as planned, eh? So something happened there? Stalling time until the next rendezvous by tooling around Beaverton-Hillsboro?
The bizarro video that Scared Monkeys are talking about and the comment by the creator is what is saying TH was in a porn movie and that LE found child porn being made on the same site, not in the same movie, in 2001.
I’ve known young ladies who worked as “exotic dancers,” some were college students putting themselves through so I don’t feel like criticizing them, they were doing what they thought they needed to earn money (this is through my work). Maybe TH couldn’t earn money the regular way as her Child Endangerment (a DUII wouldn’t do it) prevented her from pursuing the teaching career (not that there are those type of jobs in OR anyway) and she wanted to go where the money is. She put a lot of effort into this crime scenario, perhaps $$ is part of it, perhaps there were even multiple venues.
I would never criticize DY and KH, even if they had “weaknesses in the past.” It is obvious to me that they are suffering the deepest hurt, as would any dedicated parent, the unthinkable happened. Some of my friends also lost a very loved child (SAHM) to natural causes. That was horrible, though without all this wierdness, only their deep spirituality is allowing them to go on (still less than a year), and they have given money to a project already, but everyone doesn’t have that strength. I am praying that our parents here can eventually find that, whatever form. Maybe the amount of time spent isn’t quite as crucial, little Kyron knew who loved in and where the heart was and that’s what makes the connection more. Kids can spend tons of time with their parents and not feel that connected to them also.

ANCIENTSHILOHGAL;I have enjoyed this site for weeks now, because from the first day I have been kinda obsessed with the disappearance of this precious little boy. iknow the first day I had asinking feeling that his SM was somehow involved, and as aweek or so went on had a gut feeling{PLEASE GOD< DON'T LET IT BE SO} that this was another Haleigh Cummings situation ,where he would never be found. I seriously do not believe drugs were involved as was the case with poor Haleigh.

In my experience “queer” refers to gay/lesbian/bi-sexual – I have never heard it used to refer to pedophiles. And FTR, I don’t think that gays/lesbians are any more accepting of sexual assualt against children than heterosexuals.

The wall of hope for Kyron is being moved…that’s the latest here in Portland. Local blog commenters are chatting about it being a “cold case” and no faith in the way the investigation has been handled. Some folks are raising money selling Kyron bracelets to help fund the investigation.
I wish for a “break” in this case..we shall see.
@LoriD: The Newberry house is just one of those communal type places full of gay granola crunchers. (I mean no harm, foul, or disrespect for any particular lifestyle btw.) They all share access to the “big house” and have their own little cabins. They are 100% organic, share costs, and grow some of their own foods.
I did a little digging and I see that there are no known sex offenders in the registry in the general area of the school. (That includes the Newberry house.)
My working definition of doppelganger is “evil twin.” And there’s only one person I can think of who resembles Terri. Looking forward to the new piece Blink.

Exactly. IMHO the biggest motivators are money, drugs and sex.
In regards to sexual predators, I’ll share my personal experience. I spent most of my childhood in a nice, middle class suburb of Los Angeles. When I was 5 my Mother left my baby brother and I in the car while she ran into the store for a loaf of bread. Yes, back then parents left their kids in the car!
A man parks right next to us and starts talking to me. I knew a bit about stranger danger but my innocent brain was not computing something that evil. So this perp has a towel on his lap, sitting in his car, talking to me like any “normal” person. Then he says “Want to meet my friend Charlie?” I say “Yes” and he exposes himself to me. Well, I didn’t have a clue what THAT WAS. Thought nothing of IT and even said “Hi” to IT. The perp then says he has candy and asks me if I want to go for a ride. Now mind you, this guy has had plenty of time to just grab me but we’re in a store parking lot and he was being a tad careful by not creating a scene. So as I am actually pondering going for a ride with him (my innocent mind thinking I’ll get that candy and be back in a minute), a nearby shopper noticed this exchange, called out to us and started heading our way. The perp takes off, and then the police are called, my Mom and Dad and cops asking me a million questions. I was of little help besides knowing his hair and car color. They never found him, which has left me to wonder all of my life whom he may have preyed upon next.
Sexual predators are evil, sick and brazen. The worst of the worst IMHO. Unfortunately, based on what we have found out over time, it appears TH is a very sexual person and most likely has used that to her advantage many times. Who knows to what extent and with whom? Or if Kaine cheated on TH and she was furious or if DD was in love with TH, etc., etc. I do believe that LE knows a lot more about these subjects. All this and we’re still not to the drugs or money aspects. There is a ton of manure to plow through in this case to come up with a concrete motive that leads to the who and why, much less the what, where and when. MOO as always.
When you yourself have never or only rarely shared your true self with the world, it is not a crushing loss to have to start over from scratch on building a new identity.
Just a thought that occurred to me this morning.
Two other points: I am thinking the hardest part of this all is losing her little girl. Second I am thinking that her birth mother might be helpful in understanding some of Terri’s issues, ie, birth mom’s own health history, including of course, mental health.

I’m one of the many people that read this site every day (at least ever since I found it in my reading about Kyron gone missing). I really enjoy reading all the posts here.
I’m disheartened to learn that they will be moving Kyron’s Wall of Hope.
I guess I understand about the concerns that parents have with school starting, etc. But, I feel, in my heart like if this move is going to have a negative affect on the attention given to the case? Information on the case (formal anyway) has been scarce. There is still NOTHING that I read that says to me an arrest is near. On the contrary, it seems to me like LE is still a ways before they get here (I’m so praying that I’m wrong and that they have so much more information than what has been released to the public).
I’m not a professional crime anything. I’m just like many that have been capitavated by Kyron’s smile. Like many I feel for the parents (KH, DY, & TY). I guess I’m just plain sad that this is going on three months now, no sign of Kyron, the little guy’s birthday is coming up, and the one person everybody is focused on is still out and about, and – now – Kyron’s Wall… is being moved.
Just venting here, guys. I just pray that Kyron can be found soon. And I pray that he is ok, and that somebody out there has him, and has compassion. And, I guess I’m just hoping to hear something new *SOON* that is positive towards finding Kyron.

Occam’s Razor
After hearing AL’s account of encountering TH at the Beaverton FM the morning of June 4th,I am convinced that there are two possibilities with regard to Terri’s involvement, or lack thereof in Kyron’s disappearanc:
1) TH did not appear distraught or particularly distracted to AL because she had no idea Kyron was missing, or
2) TH did not appear distraught or particularly distracted to AL because she knew Kyron was missing and was somehow OK with it.
Option 2 rules out Terri knowing that something bad had just happened to Kyron, causing her to be surprised/shocked and upset. In other words, it would suggest premeditation.
Option 1 would suggest that Terri’s unaccounted for time between her trip to the second FM store and the time she arrived at the gym was completely coincidental to Kyron’s disappearance, and most likely something so personal and private that keeping it that way was more important to her than helping LE locate her missing stepson, and removing herself as a (probable) suspect in a VERY serious crime, which, instead, has necessitated hiring a very high-priced, high profile defense attorney. It would also suggest that the apparent fact that Terri’s and DeDe’s whereabouts and activities are both unaccounted for during the same time period on June 4th, is another coincidence.
Therefore, I am having a hard thinking that option 1 is possible.

@Obie – I hope they thought of testing Kyron’s bookbag/back pack and Jacket. If DeDe was the second person in TH’s truck that morning when she dropped Kyron off at school, it’s possible that one of those curly red hairs of hers attached itself to Kyron’s jacket or bag. I’m not sure if scientists would be able to tell how long that hair (if there was one) was out of the person’s scalp. Sorry guys if this sounds a bit far fetched, but at this point I’m open to any possibility. And no, I don’t watch CSI or much tv other than news and news commentary shows. Though I do love investigation discovery. They’ve come so far with forensic science technology, but that seems useless without good old fashion shoe leather police work.
@Chianme – If TH really did plan this, then letting Kyron wear that shirt is beyond sick. IMHO (sorry, I just can’t bring myself to MOO.)

@kitjcat117, When the doctor sat me down and told me that I was unable to have a child of my own I felt like my whole world had just ended and that someone had literally ripped my heart out of my chest. The emotional pain was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I couldn’t imagine at the time anything more painful. Now I can: giving birth to and loving this beautiful little boy, watching him grow, planning his future only to have someone rip him right out of your heart and take him away from you. Please God help us find Kyron.
Occam’s Razor
If “Option 2″ above is true, then I am also having difficulty believing that Terri merely planned Kyron’s disappearance, but did not directly participate in it, or did in fact take Kyron from school in order to hand him off to someone else, because of the length of her unaccounted for time. I suppose there could have been waiting time for some kind of payoff, or for handing him over to someone else. The simpler explanation to me, however, is that Terri and DeDe were directly involved with whatever happened to Kyron.

If the stories of TH being a stripper and or involved in “acting” in porn movies I can see why LE has zeroed in on her like they did. They were connecting the dots. Alleged involvement in murder for hire plot + failed lie detector tests + suspicious behavior + sneaking cell phones, etc. We’re not talking about some average family-type soccer mom here. I’ve worked cases involving investigations of activity in strip clubs (mostly surveillance). Though not all strippers are criminals, there tends to be (at least from my experiences) a criminal element that is attracted to and involved in that kind of money making business. This type of profession would have expanded the circumference of that cesspool she swam in.
As I have watched my boys this summer enjoying themselves doing typical kid things like playing in the sprinkler, squirt gun fights, swimming, etc. I almost always end up thinking about Kyron-Thinking about how he should be spending his summer doing these same things. He should be fishing with Tony, going on their houseboat vacation, etc. It makes me so sad and angry. Just thinking about it while typing this brings tears to my eyes.
I have only posted a couple of times in the past, but have been lurking for a while. This case just really hits me hard as my boys are Kyron’s age and also go to PPS schools. The evilness of those capable of harming a child is incomprehensible to me and trying to think about what these people may have done to him is emotionally exhausting. I can’t even begin to imagine what the family must be feeling. All investigating are to be commended for trudging through these emotionally draining waters to get justice for Kyron.
I hear you, I have had a houseful, yardful or poolful daily of the weemen, and it was always on my mind.
I thank the heavens, and then I ask them where Ky is so his poor parents and family may rest a while.

I certainly hope that LE did not discount Tanner’s claim based on the word he chose “substitute” and discounted it because there was not a substitute that day. He’s 7 for God’s sake! He could have meant chaperone or assistant or monitor or just a different adult or big person. I don’t think that a detective involved in this investigation could be so narrow minded or anal (I hope not!!!) Not that choice of words isn’t something that should be questioned or analyzed, but to just throw out his statement based on that choice of word is beyond absurd. There holding something back. They have to have more to discount that if in fact they did. MOO!!!! There, I said it. MOO!

I think your theory is very plausible. Only, I’m wondering if RS alone picked up Kyron at school. Supposedly, DDS didn’t leave her worksite until 10:00. Blink has already said that Kyron knew LS. If TH told Kyron that RS would be taking him to his Dr appt, or RS pulled into TH’s parking space in his white pickup after she drove off so that Kyron would automatically go to that truck at the appointed time (given by TH) & RS then informed Kyron he was taking him to his Dr appt., Kyron would probably leave willingly with him. Maybe TH called DDS after RS called to inform her she’d been double-crossed, & maybe after she’d tried finding him on her own.
That would explain, for one, why DDS seems so self-confident. She wasn’t involved in Kyron’s disappearance, but only assisted TH in trying to find him. At the same time, though, she knew of TH’s involvement (to what extent, IDK) & tried to protect her.

how ’bout moving the Wall of Hope across the street just over to the church. that way it separates it from being immediately related from the school, but it is still in the right area. i saw it was going to move to the portland public school office which is nowhere near the area. i think it needs to stay in the area for the community, for the parents…and i think the church has been designated at the usual press conference place and i think it’s spiritual connection would be fitting. i vote THE CHURCH!

enumclawrose, dont go anywhere. Being that you are newer here, it takes a bit to understand Blink’s sense of humor, disgust, and inability to be more specific on issues. But,,,she is here for the victim and their families, as most of the posters are. The cesspool, is for the majority of us, what ‘these people’ can only be, to do such to an innocent child a thing. If Blink knows any more specifically, she cannot relate it specifically at this time. Meaning, this was no accident.
My understanding of why I follow these cases is also the need to try and understand what could possibly make a human do this to another, and there is never a good answer, it will never be enough.
That said, it seems like the players here likely had self serving behavior that placed Kyron in the worst of circumstances. I guess time will tell. Sorry if you felt ganged up upon. I am usually following another case, Morgan Harrington, and for some reason the tone on this thread is a little more volatile, likely the nature of the crime. So, hang in there, your input is needed.

I am confused. I agree that those funds have to be accounted for, but there are no interrogatories filed by either party in the divorce, and this “debt” if you will, is entered POST separation.
If I were her counsel, my first question would be how they aquired the text message, and I have a feeling LE would not be overly thrilled at the answer. I want Kyron found, and I want justice for Kaine as far as what this women has done to him personally, but I have a prosecutorial concern the family court is overreaching right now and could be forced to release investigative information.
You can’t file these motions and expect them to be sealed every time.
Like it or not, Terri has NOT been charged with a crime folks.

More like you’re either 1) too old (as in 50+), or 2) just don’t notice. I’d have to say, out of my close friends, probably 50% would admit it, and another 25% have and wouldn’t admit it, and most of the rest have thought about it, but lack someone to send it to.
Heck, my ex-MIL has texted nude phone pics to people… and webcammed with guys she met online… and while she’s no prude, she doesn’t fall at the other end of the spectrum, either.
