Kyron Horman Missing: Kaine And Terri Horman Face Off In Family Court

Portland, Or– Following one of the largest organized search weekends on Sauvie Island since Kyron Horman, 8,was abducted from Skyline School on June 4, his step-mother and father squared off in family court. Kaine Horman, Kyron’s father, arrived with his attorney, Laura Rackner.

Kaine’s estranged wife Terri Horman, arrived with her criminal defense attorney; Stephen Houze and her family law attorney Peter Bunch.

Mr. Horman appeared in a crisp-white dress shirt and tie, and Ms. Moulton-Horman wore an eggplant hued suit with a long skirt.

Cameras were banned in the downtown Multnomah County courtroom; however, there were apparently several hidden “nests” as the tweets were flying real-time.

Peter Bunch, counsel to Terri Horman, is adamant his client is the subject of more than one criminal investigation:

“The state has the ability to obtain every single bit of information that is produced in this case and that is outside the bounds of what it could do were this proceeding not occurring,” Bunch said in court.

“It is fundamentally unfair for Kitty (Kiara) and for Miss Horman for me to be hamstrung in the divorce case for the information I have compared to what they have.” “The publicity that’s going on is not being driven by Ms. Horman, it’s being driven by Mr. Horman, when he tells national media there’s no doubt Ms. Horman is involved.” “If Mr. Horman is really interested in what‘s best for the child, then Mr. Horman wouldn’t object to any visitation by this child’s mother.” “We’ll concede, Mr. Horman can have the house, right now. Mrs. Horman is going to lose money…”

Terri Horman has not been declared a suspect in either Kyron Horman’s disappearance or the alleged murder for hire plot against Kaine Horman. She is however, seeking access to all of her 911 calls dating back to the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS.

While this timeline coincides with accusations by Kaine Horman in his filings that Terri attempted to arrange to have him murdered, this is the first public revelation of that call. Bunch went on to say that Rackner and Kaine Horman, who are parties to case sensitive criminal investigation materials involving Terri, are at a supreme advantage to his client who should only be expected to plead her protections under the 5th amendment as a result.

After heated debate by those sides, we learned: Rudy Sanchez, the infamous landscaper/hitman for hire, has an alias, and has eluded service in the civil matter to date, although he appears to have cooperated. Bunch proclaims Sanchez is unlocatable as a result of MCSO unwillingness to share discovery of a witness in the civil case ( blink holds hands over eyes).

Michael Cook, a/k/a sexter king, waited all afternoon via subpoena by Rackner, but was only interviewed by the press. He states he cut ties with both Terri and Kaine days before he was outed for invasive scapular intrusions. No word on that healing process.

Terri Horman had her own personal black Friday this year.

She called 911 THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS. Regular contributors and readers of blinkoncrime.com doubt she had sale flyer questions.

Judge Keith Meisenheimer, was sensitive to Kaine and Kyron’s ‘round the clock nightmare, but feels some time may allow things to shake out. January 6, 2011 to be exact.

Following this afternoon’s legal melee, blinkoncrime.com Editor In Chief asked prominent Washington State Family Law Attorney, Lea Conner, to weigh in:

Although I preface my comments with the fact that I practice family law in Washington State and not in Oregon, I am an Oregon native that has followed this case closely.

I’m a bit perplexed by Peter Bunch’s reasoning that if the court were to abate the dissolution, he would respond by filing a motion to modify the restraining order so that Terri Horman could have visitation with the parties’ daughter. Essentially, Mr. Bunch is arguing that the abatement would prejudice his client’s ability to parent her child. My understanding of the Multnomah County local rules is that an abatement means that the entire case is halted. Neither party can bring a motion before the court, nor can the court hear argument or make any ruling on motions.

It was also interesting to hear Mr. Bunch argue that proceeding with the divorce would violate Ms. Horman’s right against self-incrimination in the disappearance of her stepson. This is the first time that Terri Horman has publicly acknowledged any self-incrimination issues. In her motion for abatement, Ms. Horman, through counsel, argued that the ongoing investigation into Kyron Horman’s disappearance had made it “virtually impossible…to proceed with divorce-related issues in an effective an[d] orderly fashion[.]” Were Mr. Bunch to bring a motion to allow visitation, Mr. Horman would no doubt argue that Ms. Horman’s actions demonstrate that Ms Horman or someone she knew was responsible for Kyron Horman’s disappearance, and that her behavior since Kyron’s disappearance shows that she is unstable and poses a threat to their daughter’s safety.

I do not believe Mr. Horman would raise Ms. Horman’s 2005 convictions for DUI and reckless endangerment, as not only later chose to have a child with Ms. Horman since that time, he also left both of his children in her care for extended periods while he was at work. Under those facts, it would be hard to conclude that Mr. Horman believed Ms. Horman posed a threat to their daughter. The judge’s comment that “[e]ventually, Terri will have to decide whether or not to plead the fifth, regardless of the timing of the proceedings,” seems to indicate that the judge may not be willing to hold the action in abatement past the January 6, 2011, hearing.

I’m also interested in Mr. Bunch’s comment that “Rudy Sanchez” is an alias. If that’s true, then what is Rudy Sanchez’ real name, and how exactly did he first come in contact with Terri Horman?

It was also strange to learn that Michael Cook was subpoenaed to testify at the hearing. I’m curious if there were others scheduled to testify as well. I cannot speak to how the Oregon court operates in practice. However, I note that each party provided written affidavits in support of their respective motions.

Is there some reason that Mr. Cook’s statement could only be presented in oral testimony?

I’m not sure I understand Mr. Bunch’s logic in saying “If this is not abated we will not get reciprocal discovery.”

The state is not a party to a dissolution action. In a dissolution action, the parties can seek discovery from each other, and depending on the court rules, from third parties as well.

I’m not sure why Mr. Bunch would have the impression that there would be reciprocal discovery with a third party in a dissolution action, especially when that third party is law enforcement.

There’s a disconnect between Mr. Bunch’s argument that Ms. Horman cannot defend herself because she would incriminate herself in the disappearance of her stepson, and his statement that “If Mr. Horman is really interested in what‘s best for the child, then Mr. Horman wouldn’t object to any visitation by this child’s mother.”

The apparent logic is that Ms. Horman admits that if she speaks, she will incriminate herself in some as-yet-to-be-named crime related to Kyron’s disappearance, yet Mr. Horman is now supposed to trust her to care for his other child, because that’s so obviously in their daughter’s best interest.

I agree with both Idahogal and justice23. I too am tired of crying. I have shed hundreds of tears for little Kyron. I too feel as though things have “stalled”. I also see where Stanton is again requesting funds. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $209,000. I saw the article on Kyron’s Facebook page this morning. Sorry I can’t post the link. I wonder if they searched buildings this past weekend. I read that they did not the previous weekend. Also the junk piles. How thoroughly were those checked? If I wanted to be “thorough” I would check these things. Prayers for Kyron. Love you little guy xxooxx.

Emmy, I have been extremely frustrated by what we have as information about the timeline. I had to constantly remind myself that a good deal of the information came from TH’s FB postings so the credibility issue is huge. When I look at the timeline articles published by local MSM, I don’t feel anymore confident that the information is accurate.

Why TH would go to that particular Albertsons is a question we ought to ponder.

“When Hilary Clinton said the famous “It takes a village to raise a child”, she wasn’t freaking kidding and I just wish that more people took that quote seriously. I am disgusted if no one turned these monster parents in, and even more disgusted if someone did turn them in and CPS did nothing.”

Zeus, how true. It really does take a village to raise a child – and just to protect a child. The SM of Zahra had been reported to Child Welfare, and IIRC so had TH at one time. It’s possible that CPS received more than one complaint against EB. The problem is, once a complaint is lodged, the person reporting the abuse/neglect has no idea how far along the investigation is, or whether the allegations are even being followed up.

I once reported some young neighbors to CPS after I realized they were drug dealers. When they first moved in, the father was looking for the little boy one day. The boy didn’t look any older the two, but may have been as old as three if he was small for his age and possibly developmentally delayed. A few minutes later, the father returned FROM ACROSS THE STREET with the boy. Another day, the boy came to my back door asking for “a piece of bread.” I wondered if the parents were teaching him to mooch, since the mother, at least, was home and I would see her packing groceries from her car so I knew there was food in the house. After a while, I began to see a pattern in which there would be people coming and going and a lot of commotion next door at all hours of the day and night for several days, and then it would be extremely quiet for a couple of days. After reading about drug binges in which addicts will stay awake for several days while taking drugs and then sleep continuously for 2-3 days, I suspected that’s what was happening next door to me and I notified a crime hotline. I eventually called CPS, too, because the crime investigation was taking so long (I called occasionally for updates), and the little boy was obviously unsupervised during those periods of calm (the woman was also pregnant at that time). I don’t know if they investigated, or were still investigating when the mother had the second child. One night (it was dark, but there was a little light from nearby lampposts), I saw the family in the backyard and at first I thought the mother was carrying a doll because she was carrying it under her arm. She sat on a swing with the “doll” in her lap and the “doll” flopped around as the mother swung. When she laid the “doll” on a blanket on the ground, the arms reached upward so I realized that it was a REAL BABY! The movements of the baby looked spastic, so I believe the baby already suffered neurological damage. Since the lighting was so poor, though, I wondered if I truly saw what I thought I did. I kept an eye open for the baby, but soon afterwards the family was evicted. I was relieved they were gone, but disappointed at the same time, because I was so worried about that baby and the little boy, too.

Sorry this post is so long, but I think it illustrates what little control family and neighbors have after reporting neglect or abuse. I know that CPS has come under harsh criticism in some localities because they do not follow up sufficiently on cases, supposedly because of a backlog.

If Zahra had been missing more than a day, and as long as a month, I wonder if the dad (if he is innocent of harming Zahra) didn’t report her disappearance sooner because he feared his wife. Yeah, I think there was a lot he could’ve done to seek protection for himself (and his child while she was still with him), and the same could probably be said of KH, but it’s hard to know what goes through people’s minds in situations like that.

I was watching the local new here last evening. Reporters were interviewing CW Jensen (former police captain). He thinks investigators are on track, have specific reasons to justify the recent searches and thinks TH will be arrested. On the other hand after his interview I believe Mike Donahue said Bruce McCain weighed in and said he thought the latest searches are a PR ploy by MCSO to get more funding for the case…go figure…and I cannot find a link for that report.. sorry. I’ll keep looking and will post if it comes up.

Karey, Kudos to you for making those calls! We all need to be vigilant about these types of situations and call the authorities if we are suspicious of how any child is being treated. It’s a crying shame nothing seemed suspicious enough for anyone to place any calls about Kyron before he disappeared.

Thank you skyline parent for your update. We have tended to become skeptical of reports from MSM as well as the county’s spokesperson. What you heard about the last push to find Kyron and what she said about “being thorough” jive, though. Let’s hope those responsible will be arrested soon.

It’s been awfully quiet here today. Regarding the renewed promise that an arrest is imminent: I’m wondering if LE says that to try to “smoke out” the perpetrator(s), hoping someone will go into panic mode and make a slip; perhaps, anticipating that someone not directly implicated will decide to “spill the beans” to avoid prosecution. But, so far, no one is, well…blinking.

I’m hoping that the searches on SI are a result of a viable clue, and not just a last-ditch effort to find some elusive clue.

Why TH would go to that particular Albertsons is a question we ought to ponder.

@S – Thanks for your reply to my post. I agree that this Albertson’s is an important part of this puzzle. It seams that LE has what they were looking for from that store so as you said, we are left to ponder why TH was there. Below I have copied Skyline parent’s comment on the Albertson’s rumor that they heard. I know it is rumor, but due to lack of anything else to work with, I’ll use it to help me theorize on this. The “suspicious” purchase could have been phone(s). The only other “suspicious” purchase at a grocery store I can think of is large amounts of OTC drugs. Maybe she never told them she was there, and they figured it out on their own based on purchase records. Skyline’s comment about going there – “making sure no one would recognize her” makes a lot of sense to me. I think that if it was on 6/4 and not 6/3 we could also surmise that she wouldn’t want anyone to recognize Ky if he was with her.

Of course, I wish we had something solid to help us ponder this more successfully.

The Albertsons – I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone claim she was at Albertons on June 4. Only that they were asking for tapes. And if I recall correctly they asked for tapes for June 3 and 4. So maybe they aren’t looking for her movement AFTER Kyron went missing, but before? I heard a rumor early on that she bought something suspicious. And that would explain why she might be so far from home – making sure no one would recognize her.

I don’t think anyone has given up. It sure has been quiet here as well as other blog sites. For the past several weeks, the primary discussions on other blog sites, the few I frequent, have mostly focused around whatever was being discussed on BOC.

I attempted to find out if Oregon had set bail amounts for specific crimes but was not able to find anything definitive. I wonder if the refi that Terri’s parents completed a couple of months ago was not only to make a payment to Houze and Bunch, but to have some cash for the “imminent” bail which will need to be posted. I saw that the woman who cut the baby from the woman in Oregon had bail set at 2 million. Another site said generally Measure 11 crimes had bail set at $250,000 of which a payment of 10% would have to be made but bail could possibly be reduced. Murder and kidnapping are Measure 11 crimes. If the sheriff’s office and Desiree and Kaine believe there is no evidence that Kyron is not alive, then murder is probably out.
Kidnapping sentences are between 6-7 years unless the kidnapping is committed with the intention of committing a serious sex crime, then it is about 10 years.

Police look for missing 11-year-old boy who was last seen in North Portland

Portland police are looking for the public’s help in finding an 11-year-old North Portland boy who was last seen about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Police dispatched officers and detectives from the Missing Persons Unit to look for the boy and searched for him throughout the night, but were unable to locate him.

The boy, 11-year-old Lok Chante Marcellay, was last seen getting off a school bus in front of his home in North Portland. He is described as being 4-feet-7 inches tall, weighing about 80 pounds with straight black shoulder length hair and brown eyes.

He was wearing an orange T-shirt, khaki cargo shorts and thick, black-framed glasses when he was last seen getting off the school bus about 5 p.m., said Sgt. Pete Simpson, spokesman for Portland police.

Matt Shelby, spokesman for Portland Public Schools, said the boy is a fourth grader at Astor Elementary School in North Portland. Shelby said the bus driver confirmed that he boarded the bus and got off at his regular stop in front of his home on Chautauqua Boulevard.

Shelby said police alerted Astor’s principal, John Walden, who in turn called district officials. Police told them to sit tight while detectives investigated the case.

Simpson said detectives do not believe he was abducted by a stranger and so waited until after noon today to alert the media. He also goes by the last name of Marcellay-Ball or just Ball.

A Facebook page set up Tuesday evening said the boy was last seen near Columbia Park and that his father and grandfather are creating a missing person’s flier.

Anyone who knows where he is should call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein at 503-823-0446.

I’m not new by any means, but I still occasionally get confused with all the abbreviations everyone uses, etc LOL. I’ve been here blogging on BOC since the Anthony case started back in 2008 but I was an avid lurker even before that. You’re right though … I feel sorry for all the newbies … lingo here can in fact get quite confusing at times {:)

I know what you mean about the sadness. I have up and down days regarding this case with that too. The silence and lack of info lately from LE is driving me stir crazy but I also don’t want anything hurried so that in the end they can’t get a firm conviction for whoever did whatever actually happened to Ky. I don’t know what to believe or how to feel w/this case anymore. I so want him to still be alive, but if that were true, I also feel that he would likely be going through a living he** based on what I feel would have had to have happened in a “still living situation” so the other part of me almost wants him to be deceased because at least then he wouldn’t be suffering at the hands of some sexual predator, child trafficking ring or any of the other gory and horrific situations my mind takes me to wondering if he’s still really out there alive somewhere.

So I’m on the fence about Ky’s status but I feel danged if I do and danged if I don’t because of that … neither of the choices are ones I would wish on my worst enemy, let alone for an innocent child … it is a mentally anguishing place to be even as an outsider. It is times like this I honestly wonder sometimes where God is. The Anthony case severely took my faith for a ride … and the Kyron case has made it feel like it’s driving me in reverse. I lose just a little bit more faith in humanity every day. I’m not sure which is sadder.

There’s a question that I have always had about it that I haven’t heard anyone discuss. I assume this picture was taken outside of the court when he met with the grand jury.

Why is there a little girl in this picture?

I have mentioned that I thought it was possible that RS was the headless lumberjack in the facebook pic and that the little girl with him in that pic looked like the missing Jamie Mejia. The girl in this picture has a different color hair than JM. I am assuming it is RS’s daughter.

Could it be that RS was the man chaperone with two girls? One was JM the other this girl. Could she have also testified before the grand jury?

Isn’t James living with TH in Roseburg? If TH cannot have visitation with her daughter Kiara because of what’s in the RO why is it ok for James her son to be living with her? Is TH considered to be a danger to Kiara and not James? Don’t get it.

I had somewhat of an “aha” moment last night and wondered about something that struck me as particularly curious. IIRC, wasn’t it raining on June 4th the day Ky went missing? And hadn’t it been raining for days on end around that time in general?

If it was raining that day (and/or had been for several days around that time period) how would he have been out mowing the soccer field on the day/time in question? What city has their employee mow something in the rain? Not to mention, people don’t normally mow when it has recently rained (let alone a lot and for days) because it completely tears up the lawn … and a soccer field in particular I would imagine they would want to be very careful with so as not to mess up the field w/ruts, deep holes, etc that mowing could possibly create.

In this article, the GL admits the fields were wet that day because it had rained and were “hard to mow.” I don’t know how anyone does lawn maintenance, but I know no one in my neighborhood mows during or after it’s rained because it tears up the yard, is very difficult to mow, messy, etc. Seems odd DS is allegedly mowing that day at all considering the weather around that time. Anyone else find this a little strange?

    http://www.katu.com/news/local/100582364.html

That being said, I’m a little suspicious of the GK’s timeline to LE. Also, I believe he has recently been documented as changing some things in his timeline/story since his 1st account if I’m not mistaken. First he said he wasn’t in the school, but later changed it to say he was.

    http://www.katu.com/news/local/100663409.html

But one of the biggest discrepancies seems to be him stating to LE that he would’ve seen any truck parked on the access road around that time because it would’ve been in his way if it was parked in the questionable place. DS states:

“If it had been there, or nearby, with anyone in it or around it, Stensen said he’s sure he would have noticed it.

“It would be impossible for me to either enter the field or exit the field if there was a car parked on the gravel road itself,” he said. “And then while exiting the roadway, if there was somebody parked that close to that hillside, it would have made it difficult for me to see who’s coming down the hill (on Skyline Boulevard), I mean it would seem to me like I would have remembered, ‘Oh gee yeah,’ there was a big white truck in my way when I left that day. I would say I’m certain that it wasn’t there.”

    http://www.katu.com/news/local/100582364.html

But look at this photo a local posted on photobucket of the view of the access road based on where DS says he would’ve allegedly have been around the time in question.

    http://s876.photobucket.com/albums/ab324/sym4sar/Kyron%20-%20August%202010/?action=view&current=100_1476.jpg&

This photo was taken from the 1st base line of the baseball field right around the corner from where DS says he was and would’ve seen any truck parked there had it been there. But from the photo posted here, there’s no way he could have based on this view as the truck would’ve been around the corner out of sight from this vantage point.

    (caption beneath photo)

“Looking toward access road from the soccer field. Groundskeeper can’t see cars parked there from the field. This was taken from first base on the baseball field. The access road comes up to the field from just to the left of the trash can”

I’ve heard that soon after Ky disappeared the GK went to Mexico. That seems a little convenient under the circumstances and to be honest, a little hinky in my book all things considered. Could be completely innocent I agree and maybe he takes jaunts to Mexico for whatever innocent reasons even on a normal day for no specific reason, but the fact that a little boy happened to turn up missing that day automatically made it a little odd in the timing. JMO

Blink … do we know any specific details on the GK that maybe LE knows that’s being withheld from the public for whatever reasons? I’m not asking for you to reveal anything that might potentially jeopardize the case in anyway … just want to know if LE has checked this guy out in detail to see what his deal truly is to put him completely in the clear. Is it possible DS is one of the people that maybe helped TMH with her plan … even if it was just removing the chain from the access road in order to let her get through there? Willing to possibly lie to LE for her? What do we really know about this guy’s background? Does he somehow have connections to RS and his associates in anyway? The mind is spinning …

@Lets worktogether: I think the sad thing about placing older children is most couples are looking for babies. Babies stay little for only so long. Some type of energy needs to be directed at promoting adopting kids that aren’t new borns or babies.

I am babysitting my two granddaughters 1 and 3. They are adorable. Personally I enjoy them even more as they get older.

  38. skyline parent says:

You must not be from Portland, because if we didn’t mow in a light drizzle, our lawns would be up to our ears. ;)
But I agree he changed his story. I think that’s why LE is vetting him so heavily. They want to know which story he would tell on the stand if the defense were to call him.

I don’t know how much more I can stand!

I’m wondering if there’s a way to decrease crimes against children. Stricter laws, penalties, etc.? Do other countries have as many crimes committed against children?

I was thinking about this just yesterday after spending some time fuming about this case and Ky’s alleged fate and started questioning even my own better moral judgement by wondering why can’t some agency be in charge of all the sexual predators and child traffickers out there and once they are convicted of an actual crime against a child in this way, they immediately just vanish into thin air … just like spies and questionable bad people in other countries? Why can’t the gov’t just make predators and people accused of crimes against children just disappear forever like they do bad guys they go after and get rid of for security/international reasons?

They are not rehabilitatable and all will eventually re-offend if given the chance based on statistics … child trafficking/pornography is a booming business sad to say, so why not just get of the people who actually participate in it? I know that sounds Hitler-esque and I’m not proud of myself by any means for admitting I even seriously felt this way for awhile, but at the same time, these horrific crimes against children have GOT to STOP and when it comes to people who hurt innocent children, my empathy and compassion just turns to stone. May God please forgive me for that.

justice23 – You expressed my sentiments exactly regarding Kyron. I too don’t know how to feel. The thoughts I have and scenarios that fo through my mind if he is alive are just too much. As I stated a couple of weeks ago, I find it increasingly difficult to even look at Kyron’s pictures. Always so happy, completely innocent little boy enjoying life. Every day as I watch my own 7 year old son go through his day I am constantly reminded of Kyron. Last night my son had made a huge mess in his room. As I was bent over picking up legos and socks and shoes and numerous other items I got ready to tell him to quit making so many messes and giving me so much work to do. Then I thought, I bet Desiree would give her right arm to clean up a mess Kyron had made. So I stopped, hugged my son and kissed him on the head. He looked up and smiled at me and it was priceless. Many, many prayers today for Kyron and his family. xxoo

Please don’t think I’m dumb but why can’t TH be charged with obstruction of justice?

It’s not a dumb question at all…I’ve thought about this too. According to MCSO, though, Terri was cooperating some…

    http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/07/mcso_progress_continues_in_sea.html

Prayers for Kyron and his family.

Snip: “During this investigation Terri Horman has been cooperative and there have been other times she has not,” Staton wrote. “We cannot speak to specifics regarding this issue.”

IIRC they pretty much said she was cooperating until she walked out of the last lie detector test on June 26th and later realized she was being set up by MCSO in the sting operation involving Rudy Sanchez and undercover DEA.

She is within her rights to seek counsel and follow advice of counsel to protect herself. She still has no excuse for her actions (if she has “withheld” vital information that could have saved Kyron).

I think the obstruction of justice would be if she hid incriminating evidence, didn’t report a note/letter or planted the glasses and/or ransom note, etc. If it is shown that her lack of cooperation caused additional harm to Kyron, I’m sure if not in criminal trial, she’ll be brought to justice via a civil suit.
    __________________________

Regarding the lie detector tests, I’m convinced this is only a tool and not exact science like DNA.

TH’s tests showed “deception and evasiveness”…I watched a Dateline expose on a double murder where police interrogators convinced an innocent man to take a lie detector test after many many hours of questioning and it showed deception. They continued to question and berate him until he finally told them what they wanted to hear. He confessed to a crime he didn’t commit because he had been told if he didn’t confess, he was going to die by “lethal injection/electric chair” (can’t remember which one).

Evidence showed another person was at the scene…so after much coersion, he named another innocent person who fit their “case”. This person was also given the same treatment and he, too, failed the lie detector test…they both went to jail for months awaiting trial.

Another piece of evidence was found that led them into a completely different direction, it turns out this double murder was a random act of violence by two out of state teens…solid evidence and dna proved this and it became an airtight case. However…had that one piece of evidence NOT been found a couple of days into the crime scene and had it not been traced to it’s origin….two innocent young men would have faced lifetime sentences if not death.

I thought the investigation has stalled as well until….

“Staton said he’s shared the details of the investigation – “nearly full disclosure” – with county commissioners before seeking the extra funds.

Seeking to dismiss critics who say his office is sinking too much into this case and wasting time, Staton said, “We’ve made it clear to the board the sheriff’s office is taking the appropriate steps.”

Staton said prosecutors are working closely with the task force, and he’s more confident than he’s been in the past on the case status.

“I feel a little more confident as to where we’re at,” the sheriff said.”

As well as the make up of the task force.

“The 9-member task force consists of one sergeant and three investigators from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, one FBI agent, and one investigator from Portland Police Bureau, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police. Each of the agencies will pay for their own personnel. ”

Most of its members have been involved in the case from its inception, except for maybe one or two investigators, Staton said.

What city? Portland OR. I don’t know where you live, but rain here is like a perpetual damp, different from other places I’ve lived. I don’t find the fact of Parks mowing on this past June 4 to be odd.

DS posted on his website that he planned a trip to Mexico during the summer. I don’t find that particularly suspicious, and I think if the trip were for nefarious purposes, he hardly would advertise it on his personal webpage.
