Disappearance And Deception Turns To Decomposition: Dogs Smell Death at Lisa Irwin’s Home

Posted by BOC Staff | Deborah Bradley,Federal Bureau Of Investigation,Jeremy Irwin,Lisa Irwin | Friday 21 October 2011 8:47 pm

Kansas City, MO- For the first time since 10 month old Lisa Irwin was reported missing by her father Jeremy Irwin the morning of October 4,  detectives with the Kansas City Police investigating her disappearance,  together with  the FBI, searched her home without the permission of her parents.

Through the execution of detailed search warrants and  seizing the home temporarily,  optimism for finding baby Lisa alive took a public nosedive.

Why?

An FBI cadaver canine,  with permission from Lisa’s parents to enter the premises Monday,  gave a positive alert to it’s handler, indicating the presence of decomposition in the area of Bradley’s bed, in a wide section of carpet which has since been removed for testing.

State Prosecutor for Clay County, Wes Rogers,  was unsuccessful in his bid to have the warrants sealed from the public.

Upon the canines alert,  Kansas City MO lead investigator Kimberly Shirley-Williams  prepared affidavits and a search petition while  the N. Lister St. home was sealed until a judge granted them a few hours later.

Beginning Tuesday and continuing through today,  crime scene technicians in white hazmat suits could be seen removing substantial amounts of brown bags and items obviously concealed with brown paper.  Officers could be seen in the rear of the property with small rakes, shovels and bags.

Detectives  will not reveal what was removed from the home, or anything else about the progression of their investigation.

However, a source inside the investigation speaking to www.blinkoncrime.com on the condition of anonymity, says  the clothing and a few belongings Deborah Bradley said Lisa was wearing when she was allegedly abducted from the front window of the family home,  were discovered and taken into evidence.

The source went on to say that there is no doubt that prosecutors expect a grand jury to indict Deborah Bradley on charges she is responsible for the disappearance of her daughter Lisa, and circumstances surrounding her possible death.

Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley have refused to speak to police in order to answer questions from investigators which they  feel are critical to the investigation,  and only Deborah and Jeremy would be able to answer.

The couple has since  hired high profile defense attorney Joe Tacopina.

Aside from perfecting the Full-Double Windsor knot to the envy of the media savvy legal set, Tacopina previously represented a suspect in the Natalee Holloway disappearance, Joran Van Der Sloot.

Late today, Tacopina’s office released a statement on the couples behalf.

Police continue to guard the Irwin residence,  instructing neighbors to keep outside the marked perimeter.

I’m wondering why we are not hearing anything from the neighbor. DB states in her megan fox interview and she and the neighbor did not get together & compare notes after baby lisa went missing. Huh??

If DB had the cell phone with her when she went to the market for wine, etc., then was she also in possession of the phone while sitting on the porch waiting for bf to come home around 10p. Maybe bf did come by the house around 10ish and found a drunken, passed out db with lights on and door unlocked and took the baby and returned to work. Or bf arranged for someone else to check on db & baby lisa, and based on the conditions in the home that night, had someone else take baby lisa out of there and stage a kidnapping scenario.

Blink, what is your take on why the clothes db said baby lisa was wearing were actually in the home after all. maybe when ji returned home around 10ish, clothes were drenched and he took them off with no time to put clean clothes on before leaving with her. Or did db just not remember what her baby had on that night.

@cadillac…. i’m with you on the JI suspicion.

I was really bummed sean bradley refused a TV interview. really wanted to check him out.

Depends exactly where they were located. There are many scenarios I would find this particularly relevant.

Although not premeditated, I believe Deborah is responsible for Lisa’s death and with little time, ability or resources, she was limited to hiding/disposing of the little body in the nearby dumpster. Perhaps starting a fire that did not succeed and instead attracting a mentally ill/homeless type person who often do go through trash, wanting first dibs on the ‘goodies’. This person probably would of been in shock finding a little baby instead. Maybe he had been wearing a jacket and used it to put out the fire and maybe Lisa hadn’t yet been burned because she was concealed within other trash or wrapped in layers or bags.

I think someone who would kidnap a baby would have somewhere to go and be better prepared. Someone walking the streets with a naked little baby for hours did not likely plan to be doing so nor thinking they need to worry about being caught. he was likely mentally ill, ill prepared and in shock.

Never had faith in that video too convenient..

Also, eye witnesses that supposedly live close by D&J but wait a week or two to report sightings to me was questionable but I’m not a cop..

  10. i do not want to sound morbid, please let me graciously say this without hesitation or recourse…i hate to even imply but it just occurred to me sitting here reading peoples comments about the baby being unclothed, If the baby wasn’t alive then it might be the reason why they slipped and didnt put clothes on the baby, they tookthe clothing off at the home so the child would not be easily identified…without DNA…might go along with the fact they were ammatures trying to dispose of a child in passing…this is the way our minds work in chronological order..they just failed to realize and think about it and didnt cloth the child becuz the child passed away already. you put clothes on a living breathing child…NATURALLY, but you dont on someone that isnt going to feel the discomforts. My apologies if this offends anyone, this is a tragedy indeed…as a parent i would like to think every parent out there would guard their child or any child with their life….i am finding this not to be the case as i read some of these missing children cases….i just do not understand the priorities of people…it amazing me and shocks me how people can stand there and cry and scream for help, when they really were not doing any prevention in the first place…i just wish i could SLAP every abusive abscent parent right in the face for not using an ounce of precaution, protection, and prevention. SLAP THEM.

    ==========================================================

It’s nice to see you too Blink – still read here everyday.

When analyzing the above video link – I took it to mean that the witnesses who saw a man with a baby, didn’t agree whether or not the man they caught on surveillance video at the gas station, matched appearances with the man they saw with a baby.

With the list that’s mounting against Deborah, she does seem culpable in some way, but in what way exactly?

    1. This sighting by multiple people seeing a “guy with a baby in just a diaper” throws a wrench in it for me.

    2. It’s come out they’ve found clothes in the house matching what the mother says she last saw Lisa wearing. That matches with the sightings of a baby in just a diaper.

    3. In regard to the re-creation of events, and not being able to get through the window, mom was drunk and admitted she could have left the door unlocked. So maybe the guy tried to get in through the window – couldn’t get in that way – and lucky him, found the door open.

    4. In re to: the pings and her not divulging the wine trip. Maybe she was trying to hide the fact she was drunk that night. What else do the pings say – seems they would have a lot more than a “wine trip” on her by the pings. And if they did find something damning to her in any way from the pings it seems they would have said so.

    5. The dogs smelling decomposition. There was a stray kitten. Animals roll in decomposed things. Can the dogs differentiate between the decomposition of animals vs. humans? There also is the failure rate, I would find it interesting if they brought in another canine to corroborate with the first.

    6. The failure of the polygraph. They often say parents can feel such guilt, they fail the test. Perhaps she was feeling guilty, and also trying to hide her substance abuse problem/drunken state and that caused the failure of the test?

I’m not convinced one way or the other, but these are the things that go through my head as viable possibilities.

  19. Rose says:

My point is if submitting to long interrogayions (which are not benign), those infants (functionally) need separate counsel from parents’ or imo it’s malpractice on Taco’s part.

  20. Rose says:

  21. twinkletoes says:

A person would be walking around in just a tee shirt at 45 degrees if he perhaps burned his overshirt and jacket in a dumpster fire.

  22. twinkletoes says:

Has there been any statement whatsoever from the neighbor/friend Deborah was apparently drinking with? When did she leave? What was Deb’s state at that point? It seems this would be key info.

By the way, I was talking to an ER doc friend of mine the other day and he told me of a man who WALKED into the ER with a BAC of .60. Yes, he WALKED into the ER. I can’t imagine how much of a box of fun a person has to consume to hit a .60, but damn, that is some tolerance. If Deb had a high tolerance, it is certainly possible she and her friend polished off the whole box. Also possible that she started drinking right when she bought the box and didn’t wait for the friend.

  23. twinkletoes says:

Apparently .914 is the world record for highest-ever recorded BAC that did not result in death. A 67 year-old Bulgarian man wandered into a hospital after being hit by a truck and they checked his BAC with multiple instruments, thinking that their equipment must be faulty.

  24. twinkletoes says:

    ABC news is also reporting:
“The boys were reportedly sleeping with Bradley in her bed when Lisa disappeared and may have heard noises in the house.”

I am sticking with the accidental suffocation theory.

  25. mary white says:

Is is at all possible the man walking around with the baby was a Women with a “fussy” baby as DB stated and the dumpster was the last straw?

  26. Mary says:

One thing sticks in my mind. In the videos that Deborah is shown to have made of Baby Lisa, I do not see one flicker of connection of that baby to that mother. Albeit, she is young. But it’s the sparkle in the eyes that tells you a baby is connecting and in these vids it seems more Deborah is documenting. I just can’t forget Deborah continually refering to Lisa as “her.” “We just want HER back.” Etc. All the props are in place, the baby seems to have everything a child requires in her room. But there is no wartmth.

I have to agree with Becca regarding the 3 seperate witnesses who saw a man with an unclothed baby at 12:15 and at 4:00 a.m. Their descriptions of the man with the baby seem to be very similar. The video of someone walking on the other hand does not match these sighting descriptions, and the person on video does not appear to be wearing the same clothes or carrying anything the way the man described by the eye witnesses was.

  30. lyla says:

I’m wondering if DB was giving Lisa meds to induce/keep her asleep while she enjoyed her “adult time”. Here is the ABC link: http://gma.yahoo.com/baby-lisas-brothers-interviews-dna-sampling-scheduled-152511517.html.

  35. GeorgiaDad says:

Why check DNA on the two kids?
Is there some question about the kids’ paternity?
DNA from the parents should be all that is needed to identify the infant if found, unless there a question about the baby’s paternity (momma’s baby, daddy’s maybe)?
Maybe it’s routine LE policy, but it seems unusual to me, especially that LE would publicize this fact.

Not at all, the only way to exclude known DNA from foreign DNA is to have a comparative for exclusion. I do not believe it has anything to do with paternity.

If my child was missing, and I was innocent, truly innocent, I would be standing on rooftops screaming, begging people to help me, strangers – I would be begging strangers to help me, I would be cooperating with the police, FBI, any legit agency that was looking for him or her. I would be on TV pleading to give him or her back. I would post flyers on every door, window, pole, storefront, etc. etc. I would FB, email, telephone every person I knew, my family knew, my neighbors knew, etc. etc. I would be out there looking for my child every day, all day, all night, not caring a rat’s a** what the police said about me contaminating a possible crime scene or whatever.

    I WOULD NOT:
be getting a hair makeover, telling reporters I am grieving, lying to the police, forbidding LE to interview my children, husband, etc. And I guess most telling is I WOULD NOT HAVE A LAWYER!

Her initials are DB for a reason.

  38. twinkletoes says:

The body language of Deborah in the vidoes reminds me so much of Terri Horman when Kyron first went missing. The way she folds in against her husband with that look of despair on her face, seeking protection. She is seeking protection. She wants it all to go away far more than she is worried about her baby. He looks dumbfounded. I think ultimately this case will turn when he, like Terri’s husband, starts to realize that there is something really wrong with what his partner is telling him. When he stops protecting her, the truth will ultimately come together–not from her, but the puzzle pieces will start to fit.

This is my first time posting on this thread, I believe I’ve gotten all caught up, but please forgive me if I missed something and am repeating something that’s already been stated : )

First off, in the article that Riverpearl just posted, one thing that strikes me as VERY telling is the fact that the parents are giving stipulations about what they can and can’t be asked! Really? I realize Taco is probably dictating some of this but I’m sorry, if I had a loved one that was missing (I don’t have any children yet), there is not a question I would not answer if I thought it might help to bring them home or find them. I don’t care how incriminating the questions might be, I would answer them-especially if I knew I had nothing to hide. It really ticked me off when I read that-who are they to say what they can and can’t be asked! These people are tyring to help find your child for goondess sake! It just seems to me that both DB and JI have become very defensive, and that to me is very telling.

Also, as I stated above, I don’t have children of my own yet so maybe others will feel differently but if I thought that LE interviewing the 2 brothers again might help find Lisa, ask away! Obviously I would want this done in a professional way by someone who is very trained to deal with interviewing/questioning children as I’m sure would be done. I just feel that maybe DB is afraid of what the kids might slip and say. Again, I might feel differently about this if I had children of my own, but from my point of view, I feel like she is choosing the welfare of the 2 boys over that of her missing child.

I can’t find any video of her mentioning the kitten, just indirect paraphrasing, such as at http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2011/10/07/2011-10-07_fbi_is_looking_for_missing_missouri_toddler_lisa_irwin_in_kansas_landfill_for_a_.html

  44. RiversMom says:

Just wondering . . . could it be possible the man seen walking with the baby . . . could it have been a doll? From a distance, at night, it might be hard to tell the difference. Maybe someone was thinking ahead . . . planting a distraction?

  45. twinkletoes says:

@nana: “When people lie they cannot keep track of what they say so story changes IMO. Just like little C here in FloriDUH..”

Absolutely. I think Deborah is more accustomed to weaving lies than telling the truth.
I am hoping this delay in the press conference, etc is because the police are getting ready for an arrest. At the very least, they could arrest Deborah for child endangerment or neglect. There is a baby missing under her drunken watch. That is one way to get separate interviews.

    Twinkey twink-

I do not believe without new evidence Deborah will be arrested without an indictment, and if and when she is, Jeremy will speak to nobody if and until he faces his own woes.
