Isabel Celis Breaking News: Child Services Removes Sons From Sergio Celis Care and Placed With Mother

In the latest development in the April 21st disappearance of missing Tucson child Isabel Celis,  her father Sergio has been stripped of his physical custodial rights of her brothers.

There has been no confirmation from Tucson Police about the children’s removal and placement, and CPS has only confirmed the boys have been placed with one parent.

Sources inside the investigation have confirmed to www.blinkoncrime.com that evidence gleaned in the investigation has warranted alternative placement of the couples oldest children in the wake of the disappearance of their daughter, Isabel.

The boys, whose names have been reported previously elsewhere but are being intentionally withheld by www.blinkoncrime.com have been placed together, not separately.

Check back to www.blinkoncrime.com for details.

    This is interesting;

“In one report, a police officer details how he was approached by a man while standing in line to buy food at a Bruegger’s Bagels. He said the man told him he was a “friend” of Isabel’s father, Sergio, and that he coached baseball with him. The man asked the officer about the investigation and told the officer that “something didn’t seem right about what was going on and alluded that he believed that the father was involved in some way,” the report states.”

That was in one of the officers police reports that was just released. No matter how much I believe SC had something to do with Isabel’s disappearance I still get shocked to fathom the idea of hurting your kid. Especially a father hurting his daughter. As a father I am supposed to serve doube duty in protecting my daughter and being her absolute best friend. Especially at that age.

    This is so sad.

    LaurieO,

I agree that many men react to disturbing news in a different way than women. The men in my life don’t seem to get as ruffled about things and are less likely to assume the worst case scenario. (Kinda like your Dad doubting that you might have diabetes).

But Sergio’s reaction seems so different than what I’m used to with my calm, male family members (who are also first generation americans of spanish descent). What’s missing in his calm, cool, collected exterior is the shroud of worry. When that emotion is there, you can see it — it’s hard to miss.
    ——————————————————————
Very true, Mosaic. SC doesn’t have that calm sound-I hate to say this but he sounds more ditzy than male calm. I never thought of it the way you did. You make sense.

I believe this was intra-family/close circle of friends/someone connected to family based solely upon the dogs. I wholeheartedly believe if an unknown person was in the yard and in the house, they would have awoken the household. It’s also hard for me to believe a random perp just got lucky with the right window on the one night Isa slept in her room alone. The guilty person had a relationship with these dogs…MOO. The open window and screen on the ground scenario has been used a hundred times before in staged crimescenes. Does it actually exist in some crimescenes as an exit/entrance? Yes, but it has also been used often in staged events. It is still possible a SO in the area focused on Isa and had been lurking and watching and could have befriended the dogs with treats and regular visits, but seems far fetched to have gone unnoticed.

The thing that’s throwing me is LE’s continued major focus outside of the family…while this should be the standard protocal to ensure no leaf left unturned, it does seem to be uncommon pratice as we have seen in other cases.

There must be some unknown DNA…MOO, for them to continue to search in this manner.

    Where is the uncle?

    Prayers for Isa.

I took Mark Klaas’ statement a little different in that maybe things are not looking good for SC and he is not doing anything to change that so in this case he will need a lawyer at some point. Most innocent people that do everything they can will probably not need a lawyer. Just a thought.

    Must see article and video:

    (snips)

“9OYS also learned more about the investigation into the Celis family. Police reports reveal all family members were swabbed for DNA. Rebecca and Sergio submitted blood samples. Police also questioned Rebecca about her other children and whether they could hurt Isabel. She says there’s no way. Sergio tells police he fell asleep on the couch in the family room until 5 a.m. That’s when he woke up to join Rebecca in bed the morning Isabel disappeared. He tells police the window was closed the last time he saw Isabel.”

“Police have also collected footprints around several key locations. Exact addresses still not available. What’s described as “apparent blood” was also found on the floor of an unspecified residence.”

“Despite the massive records release, there’s quite a bit police still aren’t talking about. Key parts of these reports were redacted to protect the investigation. ”

    http://www.kgun9.com/news/local/153931355.html

What I can catch in the close-ups of some parts of the documents, is a police officer interviewed Rebecca away from the rest of the family and she told him she left for work at 7:30.

Sergio said the same . . . that she left at 7:30.

Are the outlets not releasing the PDF to report on their contents?

  10. wpg says:

Also in a close-up of a document page – - and I’m paraphrasing here – - an officer reports he directed the occupants inside the home to the outside driveway . . . Becky, Sergio, their 2 sons, and AN UNCLE AND HIS WIFE.

Lyla, I agree. I’m still searching for motive in this complex case.

  12. wpg says:

Yeah, best wait for the pdf of the actual documents . . . KGUN’s article says Sergio fell asleep on “the couch in the FAMILY ROOM”, but the video close-up of the document page shows “the LIVING ROOM”.

arghhh, gotta love those media reporting “boo-boos”.

  13. Pak31 says:

I agree wpg. I read an article on some of the things they have done so far and it’s been quite a lot of investigating. Which now bothers me that SC and RC told the media that they want the focus off of them and on Isabel. RC made it seem like police are just looking at SC, well these docs prove that isn’t the case, it’s quite the opposite. So why are they so concerned about it? I think the parents just want to focus off them because they have a guilty complex or something. From what I have seen so far, the police have looked EVERYWHERE for this girl. The Celis’ should be going on t.v. and praising LE for the amount of work and effort they have put forth searching for their daughter.

  16. moxiemom says:

“What exactly was taken from the home is revealed in the documents, including Isabel’s hairbrush and toothbrush. The window where the screen was removed was swabbed for DNA. Also, one of the documents states, “Overall interior views of the residence including views of items of evidence as marked by detectives on scene and overall views of the middle east bedroom including views of apparent blood on the floor.”

Taken from a car at the residence was a white hat and a vinyl shower curtain. The items had “dark red-brown or brown stains.” Tests were not performed on scene of the shower curtain because “it was decided to keep the item close to its original condition and allow crime lab personnel to screen the shower curtain for possible evidence if deemed necessary.”

One detective reported a positive Luminol reason on the “driver’s seat of the Toyota Corolla,” that was at the residence. Luminol is used in forensic investigations to identify traces of blood.”

This information released by LE and was published in the Arizona Daily Star:

    I found these particularly interesting:

Apparently SC has a very good reputation at his workplace. Activity had increased in the alley beside the home prior to Isa’s abduction, a van with dark windows was noted in the area, a six or seven y/o girl was noted to be running down the street late at night, dogs were barking loudly at around 2AM, footprints (Wolverine Brand work boot or something similar) were processed outside the Celis home in various locations, a trained canine alerted on a house directly south of the Celis home and a search warrant was served on that house. Male relative’s vehicle was searched.

Gosh, wouldn’t it be nice if LE had released some info in the Kyron case? On the other hand, if much of it is case sensitive, I don’t want to know.

Many prayers for Isa, her family and her friends. God be with them.

  20. Kris says:

There was also a tip that the person who once lived with them owed a lot of money to someone and that Isabel was taken because of that debt.

  21. pueblodweller says:

I really have no idea why LE would release all this information. Early on, they said they would not give the public a lot of details and needed to “keep some things close to the vest” so as not to compromise the investigation. So, now they are releasing 550 pages of info. to the public. I guess they want us to see if we can figure out what happened………..

I have never heard of releasing info. to this extent. Is this normal? Anyone know?

Maybe TPD should have a “paper your street” event. They could charge the public 20.00/each for a copy of a missing paper. That way, they can make up the $1M they have spent doing things other than bringing in these Celis parents for some hard-core questioning until they broke. IMO, those parents are the key to this case.

Oh well, maybe some “citizen detective” will be able to crack this case. The important thing here is that TPD can whine like teenagers and let the public know it did everything INCLUDING listen to psychics(!) and feel less guilt that ISABEL is still missing……

BY training, I am not yet comfortable that is actual blood. I admit I am embroiled in a major cold case project, and have had limited time to review, but if their is field test confirmation that is blood belonging to an alleged missing victim, that house would be a crime scene, and in lockdown.

Oh, dear God. I was so afraid LE had found blood in her bedroom. I’m going to stick my neck out and say I believe this perp is either a stranger, RSO who specifically and methodically targeted Isa by befriending her, or an acquaintance/friend of the family. My instincts tell me it was not SC.

I want to know if DNA was collected at the other site where the little girl was molested in her bedroom. I want to know more about the house where the canine alerted.

Does Arizona have a sunshine law? I was really surprised they mentioned the type of shoe print that was found outside the house. But, there may be a method to their madness. Is it possible they have a suspect in mind? I think they do.

Something to think about: KVOA reported on one of the documents that when police arrived on the scene, RC asked them if they had notified authorities in Mexico. Makes me think she has some reason for considering Mexico. Makes me wonder why she has not been pressed hard by LE for an explanation as to why her mind went to Mexico right away.

  29. Flo says:

Jane V. Mitchell keeps saying a guy that lived there owes the CELLIS family money. I took it as the relative owes other people money not the Cellis. If it was the Cellis Family, why would SC kidnap his daughter if it was he who was owed the family.

Why is Jayne so lost in this? Nancy Grace even reported on the relative a long time ago.

  30. pueblodweller says:

Actually, maybe all the documents are there. I think the individual PDFs on the page are identified with titles of where the documents begin. One I opened, for example, has 69 pages.

Here’s just one of the tips:

Lead #326 is a called from Celis sister-in-law who works in same office as SC (sounds plausible if she’s willing to identify herself. She claims SC borrowed 175K from her boss and believes the loan has something to do with Isa’s disappearance.

HOWEVER, police released some conclusive statements including one that stated, “family was financially stable and not living beyond their means.”

I guess the police know that sister-in-law is lying….

I ended up clicking on all the info. on the Celis home on the county assessor’s site. I found the plans to the house and noticed that it said “2 story.” I had always assumed the house was one story. When I looked at the next page of the plans, I noticed that their is one bedroom on the “upper” floor. I thought it was probably a master bedroom since it was also very large.

Today, after I read that SC fell asleep on the couch until 5 am and that BC was asleep in bed, it made me think that she might not have heard what was going on downstairs (either with SC or someone else).

Maybe everyone already knows their is a bedroom on a upper level. Still, it is interesting that SC says he slept all night at such a distance from his wife and closer proximity to Isabel.

Smart move on the part of LE in releasing the pages of documents, imo.

    ————————————————————————
WPG, I agree, but find it very odd that they released them. It may be that they are hoping that someone in the general population will really read them all and figure something out. That would be fantastic, but may be very sad as well.

My first thought on why they released the documents was to turn the heat up on Sergio. If there really is blood in the home and it is Isa’s, then either Sergio had something to do with it or he slept through something that would have woken some people up.

The whole releasing of the documents is so odd compared to other cases, where LE won’t let one drop of info out. I hope this leads to something constructive in this case.

  46. Kris says:

Sorry, I misread Becky’s departure time. Elsewhere I see that she reported leaving at 7:30. Something happened at 6:47. Maybe it was the time she woke up. I need to go back and re-read the document when I’m not so tired.

  47. Mary says:

On JVM tonight, it was stated that a small amt. of blood was found on floor is Isa’s bedroom floor, and also shower curtain. The shower curtain was placed in trunk of the red car. (it doesn’t run)

Dr. Henry Lee was on NG. He said alot of evidence will be found in the blood. Like drugs, possible matches of DNA.
Also a footprint of Wolverene boots was found.

Pray that this will help bring Isa home.

  48. Mary says:

Also, wouldn’t someone have to have a KEY to open the trunk of the red car?
