Yes, Blink, a reminder of hope!

OMG I love him. Please know that I say this with the utmost respect, but he is my Sweet Brown of Criminal Cases. I quoted the line about the white girl running into a black man’s arms.

I say to Mr. Charles- if I were in trouble, I would be happy to see you with or without bronchitis! God Bless!

    Rejoice for a few everyone!

suspect is Ariel Castro (sp?) a school bus driver
    http://c.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/political-potpourri/2013/may/6/cleveland-miracle-amanda-berry-gina-dejesus-michel/

my guess is he was starting in on one or more children, hyper motivating Amanda.

I dunno, but my hero of the week is Charles Ramsey.

“When a white girl runs into a black man’s arms, YOU KNOW there’s a problem.”

Priceless. 10 years and not so much as a clue- I want to know everything there is to know about Castro.

Just watched the TV clip. I LOVE Charles Ramsey.
Great that he moved in a year ago. wish were neighbors.
Besides the pretty little white girl running into a black man’s arms observation,
other pithy thoughts are he had to have some big testicles to pull it off,
and the note he just did “average” things. latter, imo
    perhaps like Kyron’s kidnapper.

I wish I was closer. I would be making the good Mr. Ramsey Blink’s frittata with fresh basil. However, I have a feeling he may have other commitments as he should.

We should all rejoice that these three have been found. Every once in a while a kidnapper will not kill, but keep their victim for whatever perverted reason they have.

Kudos to an alert neighbor who was in the right place at the right time to rescue them. It matters not what the color or one’s skin, it matters about what is in your value system and the desire to do the right thing.

    I am glad

Thanks to Charles Ramsey for getting involved and for so much more.

    This has restored my hope-

    The 911 call…left me speechless.

Why didnt the dispatcher keep her on the line just in case?

I am sorry that Amandas Mom passed away while she was still missing-

    3 Brothers working together

Erose thanks for that article seems the guy liked to bask in the misery he caused is it he who called home on Amandas cell?

According to an earlier article Amanda was last seen getting into a white van with 3 men… No one made the connections though-
A call was made from her cell phone the day after she disappeared its too bad they couldnt trace it…

It is strange that all 3 were abducted in April…is that significant?

Perhaps they borrowed a delivery van from the uncle who runs the corner store? According to a statement by him the DeJesus family was acquainted with the Castro family

There is alot to learn in the coming days.

My prayers go out to the families and to the women and their children moving forward.

OMG I know Mom3.0 that 911 operator needs a sanction and some re-training. Who gets off the phone with an alleged abduction victim prior to LE arrival? How did he know her physical condition?

  21. Mom3.0 says:

Erose not sure if this info is confirmed or not

but latest is that the article you sited may have actually been written by AC son- not the kidnapper himself-

So that would change my thoughts on the article and the sons motivations for writing it…
according to the reports the son was unaware of what his father had done, and was legitimately trying to help…

  23. erose says:

Blink, Post of not, but check out veromi saying that someone at the 2207 address IS related to a Jose Dejesus.

    The 911 transcript:
    http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/transcript-of-missing-cleveland-womans-911-call

911 call states the address as 2207. See Veromi #4. Shows someone at that address where the women were imprisoned were related to Jose Dejesus. I read that AC was friends with Tito Dejesus, but I think this might take it a step further. If so, what kind of family participated in this hell?

    http://www.veromi.net/Summary.asp?vw=People&Search=People&Input=Address&addr=2207+seymour&zip=&city=cleveland&state=OH

Thanks erose, it’s ok to post. I have a sinking feeling we are going to learn about some possible investigative gaffs. If that is the case it would be stellar to hear admission of them and steps for correction.
It appears there are children in the home, so it would not surprise me to hear that there will be some allegations of insurance fraud if there was ob/gyn and pediatric care under insurance. I am most interested in seeing the pics of the home to see how Castro and brothers contained these people. Unreal.

If it is true that Anthony Castro had no clue his Father was involved and he is a reporter my heart goes out to him as well. His Dad is probably safer in jail right now.

I just loved hearing Amanda’s voice on the 911, ” I am free!”. Thank Goodness for the dear neighbor that would help, hero of the day, Charles Ramsey. I am dying for more details, the three women’s stories. Amanda’s enthusiasm about her freedom is delightful. Tomorrow, I will indulge in getting angry. Just incredible the arrogance of that man, the selfishness, the pain their families have suffered, UURRGH! of just taking, stealing three women’s lives for ten years, just taking the sex, giving nothing. The more I think about that side of it, the more I start to steam. Just gotta celebrate tonight.

there may be a response time difference when white’s & blacks call 911 in this town, but I don’t think her dispatcher a prize either

  28. Cindy says:

Never give up hope, these 3 family’s, their prayers have been answered. An angel named Charles Ramsey guided them to safety. Continue to pray for all of them. Hats off to the neighbors who all helped these girls!

  29. Word Girl says:

Thank you, ATG, for your words. I am most uncomfortable with “running into a black man’s arms” sentiments. I am a white girl who would run into a black man’s arms any day because I am not afraid of the color of his skin:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” MLK, Jr.

Besides, “I am not afraid. I was born for this.” ~Joan

Word Girl- that was a quote from Mr. Ramsey himself and my point in hilighting it is because of the contradiction of help and racism. You have a woman locked up for 10 years who had every reason to trust nobody and she trusted him to both free her, and be her protector until LE arrived. Imo, angels have no color.

One of the nicest things anyone has done for me in a while had to do with me testifying in a criminal case and as I was parking my car next to the court house, a black man in shackles was being brought from the jail to the courthouse and he gets across the street, looks at me and yells, “Hey Miss- you are parked over that yellow line and you will have a ticket on your car every 5 minutes unless you move it back about 5 feet- they are crazy about that.”

A little gesture, but I appreciated it from a man who had the ability to be kind when maybe life has not been so kind to him. Kindness is grace for me every time.

  30. Jane says:

It’s a miracle these three are alive. God bless them, their families and countless others who never gave up hope. I just cringe thinking of these freaks just laying in wait to prey on the most unlikely victim. Was this man ever married/divorced? If so, where is exwife?

  31. first-time says:

Hi all. This is local to me. Folks from all around the Cleveland area are overjoyed to know these ladies are now safe. Both Amanda and Gina’s cases have received lots of mainstream media attention over the years, with much speculation that they were related. Never did I think they would be found alive. Praise God!

    Hi blink

I just got done listening to the press conference at 930 am in regards to this case. Ashley summers is another girl who went missing around the same area the other three went missing. Nobody in the press conferenced asked if the fbi is going to look into see if this case is connected to any other missing person cases. Long story short is this something the fbi automatically checks into and its a question that don’t need to be asked.

Honestly I am usually surprised when media has done their research prior to a pressconf for the most part, I am positive that the FBI is considering Ashley Summers disappearance as a possibility in this case.

  34. Rose says:

@Word Girl. You think like my dear daughter, a minority herself, who does not see racism exists, systemically, in many areas of our country. She may as well ckerk for Roberts or Scalia.
She auditioned for a college in rural ohio, but she chose an abutting state’s school.
Having studied & worked in that State, and since she’d have a black teacher, I warned her racism (white v black) was deep & entrenched in the State & would have impacted her teacher over time, making him an angry man.(Tgat proved prescient.) She was quite angry with me & my assessment of her new State.
. But I have seen it there de jure all last year–blacks & whites largely live on different sides of campus (whites know how to get into separate more academically prestigious living communities & dorms), reflected in social club nemberships, etc. She ended up on the side of the more black population, got on some black male club’s frequent email list, & could never get herself off — very condom & aids focused & absolutely different from white clubs. The faculty is mostly not diverse. And in daily life town business owners treat minorities differently, as do churches, etc. So, I would never discount the perspective of a black person reared in poorer neighborhoods of Ohio or its neighbor to the North.

  35. Rose says:

I meant a community self-organizing de facto (experientially) , not de jure (meaning law).

  36. MandyVZ says:

I’ve heard some reports of “disturbed soil” in the backyard. Can anyone confirm or deny?

confirmed, but I cant say for certain which house.
    B

  37. A Texas Grandfather says:

We don’t know what agency was operating the 911 system. If it was the city, you will generally find that these people sorely lack training and proper supervision. These are entry level jobs with little education required to qualify.

Not only should the 911 operator not hung up, the supervisor should have been immediately notified and have been standing at the operators station until the police arrived.

I have watched 911 operators and sheriff dispatcher work while integrating the 911 system to the dispatching system. Some are really good, but others are not suitable generally because they cannot think on their feet as an event is happening.

How these young women could have been held all these years without anyone suspecting something was not right at that residence is beyond me.

  38. T. Ruth says:

Fantastic that this young woman got the opportunity and gumption to escape her captors after so long. I can only imagine how jubilant their families are to have them back. Endings like this, keep hope alive and well for many more families of missing children.

Hindsight. Two brief excerpts from http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/07/us/ohio-missing-women-found/index.html

“Nina Samoylicz, who lives nearby, said she called police about two years ago after spotting a naked woman walking around the backyard of Castro’s house, and called out to her. She said a man told the woman to get in the house, then ran in himself.

“She was just walking around, and naked,” Samoylicz said. “We thought that was weird. We thought it was funny at first, and then we thought that was weird so we called the cops. They thought we was playing, joking, they didn’t believe us.”

She said she had also seen tarps covering the backyard.”

OMG. I just knew we would hear something like this. A missed opportunity.
    B

“Neighbors reported seeing the 6-year-old who left the home with Berry out playing sometimes at a neighborhood park.”

  44. erose says:

    @Mom3.0,
We’re on the same page wrt to the letter. Sometimes posted as written by Anthony, other times by Ariel. Once the son’s full name was released, we can see why there was initial confusion.

There will most likely be more initial confusion. The beginning of an investigation is where we seem to get most of our information, before anyone realizes what is “case sensitive” trouble is we have to weed out the erroneous stuff.

    snip>
His uncle, Caesar Castro, who owns a grocery store on the same street, said his nephew owned the house where the women were found. He added that members of his family and the family of DeJesus “grew up together.”

    http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/3-brothers-arrested-as-3-missing-women-found-in-ohio-home

HTH is that possible? I wonder if the girls were kept at different places at different times? Still? Has Gina’s family given statements?
    B

I am very disturbed that it seems someone in that house was related to Gina DeJesus, and I believe it is further underscored by statements from the uncle.

  45. MackiezMom says:

@ode, after your post, I read this article:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57583228/family-woman-who-went-missing-in-2004-knew-suspected-kidnapper/

I wonder if the best friend Gina’s family mentioned was the daughter you posted about.

Blink, anything more about the connection between Castro, his family, and the DeJesus family?

Once again, I think of Michaela, taken down the street from our family home in Nov. 1988. My thoughts and prayers ad with the women, the little girl, and their families in Ohio, and also with Sharon, Michaela’s mom, and her family. I hoe to one day turn on the news and hear that Michael! Too, was found and is safe.

I do not even want to tell you what I am hearing.

    B

  46. erose says:

Blink, I am with you about seeing pictures of the inside of that cracker box. No disrespect to a small home, I have lived in my share of them, but come on, you’re on top of each other. No room for secrets. Especially live ones, and a child to boot! I mean, 1000sf? and you go over and visit and what? Front room, kitchen, bath, bedroom(s)? Was one bedroom off limits? Was there a basement? Hear any screaming, much or an unexplained baby crying? Ten years…un-be-leivable.
