Yes Nana, it is quite obvious she has no remorse. No matter what the ruling is on the motion to prevent the prosecution from using that in the penalty phase, it will not matter.

Is Fred the other half of Wilma? I do not think we watched the same trial or even read the same posts here. No one here supports the abuse of women or children.

IMO though, there is hypocricy in people within all religions. That to me does not reflect on the religion, but on that particular person. It is not for me to judge that person however.

Does anyone else wonder if JA fired her lawyers? I can see that she would be counseled not to do so at this time, but she doesn’t listen to anyone – including her attys – so what would happen?

Definite possibility, I guessed that early, would be extremely bad advice at this juncture.

    @Fred
Actually childhood abuse, sexual abuse and domestic violence do NOT sit well with me from within or outside of a church. If I thought for a second that JA had ever been a victim of DM by Travis, I would be screaming her defense from the rooftops. She was not, is not and (thanks to her selfish ways) never will be abused by Travis. I’m not wasting the time to explain the countless reasons why HER ACTIONS PROVE she is not a victim. It’s all been written here before. Go find some other site that does allow trolls…

@ATG – Beautiful soul and so glad you are here among us (and happy you are almost my neighbor)! Happy Mother’s Day to the Mrs. ATG and your daughters who qualify ;-) Thank you for the rose!

Blink – It’s probably going to be a difficult day tomorrow so I wish you much peace and happy memories to get you through the day. Put on your Supermom cape and let the younger Blinks show you just how much they love you. Mom will be watching and proud of all you have become in life. I hope you can find a big hug from her this weekend. It will be there somewhere.

Survivor- My sincere thanks. I feel her love like a rich flash of sunshine on my face in the cold parts of every day.

Sadly, there are many who want to become famous and do not know how. Instead, they attempt to attach themselves to events or persons who they believe are famous. If you were able to listen to Sky Hughes talking about the scene in her home, it would make goose bumps and the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The entire group of young people around Travis recognized that Jodi was a major problem. From that day forward there was an effort to get Travis away from her.

It does not require training to recognize potential evil. It just requires some experience and listening to your “Gift of Fear” as one name for intuition.

Ragdoll, yes, but there was also a closed hearing with JA, her counsel and Judge Stephens which may have contributed to this delay. I am perplexed as to why no one, including the media, is addressing the fact that Arias sat down for 45 mins. for an interview of which her attorneys were unaware until it was concluded.
She was convicted of first degree murder and she sat across from Troy with lipstick on. Really? No cuffs? No security guard? You can’t make these things up, I say. Just another day in the life of Jodi…

Erm the workshop I attended was Groundwork Therapy, for abuse victims. Shelley Rosenberg and Professor Nancy ?. Look it up on the interwebs. They are experts in the field as you probably know. They come from Arizona, it shouldn’t be hard to trace. I’m getting very old, and as I pointed out, I have Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from a miserable upbringing so memory isn’t a strong point. Whatever.
My work gave me the second trauma, hostility guns violence drugs murderers paedophiles sexual sadists featured frequently. It is what it is.

@Jden, female defendants in my neck of the woods are allowed to wear makeup during their trials (even capital trials). I noticed after JA left the stand she appeared to be wearing neutral shades of gloss, blush and eye shadow.

MCSO officers and/or jailers were with JA during that interview, but were out of the camera’s view. Many sheriff depts. take the inmate out of cuffs for a televised interview, and keep security tight.

@Fred, What does this crime have to do with women’s rights on the world stage? The victim of this horrific episode of domestic violence was a man. The female was the perpetrator. If you are indeed a social worker how is it that you are missing that? It sounds to me as if you are projecting your own issues onto this case OR just stirring up the environment.

@Fred, What boatloads of mitigating circumstances are you talking about? How do you know JA is not a psychopathic killer and is “the opposite of a narcissist?” You say JA and TA were “narcissistically wounded children.” You do realize one has to be a narcissist to be narcissistically injured, and that children are never diagnosed with Narcissistic PD? And, “poor object relations” – you have got.to.be. kidding. Pfft!

Irt your comment about witch burning – one does tend to get burned when one plays with fire and then externalizes all the blame.

How much more of a delay would be allowed by the court?
Can new attorney ask for & does the court have to give new attorneys months to get “up to date” with all the details of the entire case? (since the case in chief is over – Guilty Murder)

Any new attorney would only represent her for the next stages … please don’t let it be that come Wednesday we start the day with some new attorney immediately asking for time in chambers with Judge to plead that he/she needs weeks/months to be up to speed with the entire case.
I can so see JA pulling this crap to further twist, delay, and try to control ultimate justice.
This can’t happen — can it??

No way should this jury be expected to put their lives on hold for all that. (and it’s important that THIS jury sit for these next phases)

A dumbed down nation with primitive responses, who follows that terrifically terrifying significantly great intellectual power nancy grace, don’t make me laugh!
I needn’t remind you of the constant school shootings and racial inequalities that I am subjected to by your nation that are always in the news, I find it incredibly disturbing – you have an abundance of serial killers, murderers, bombers and torturers drugs gangs ghetto’s and xenophobia. You have the biggest population of prisoners in the known world over represented by minorities and blacks. Are you all by chance completely insane or just inane? Or do your own statistics not convince you?

We’re not the ones who make famous the likes of the seriously worrying Kardashian family, the Gerry Springers and other sad idiotic shows like nancy grace. You elected and supported the rather scarily dumb George Bush.

Is the Ugly American that everyone talks about and was written by an American still exist? I think so.
Americans don’t do irony terribly well do they, I think they might have even admitted it?
Don’t worry I won’t come back you are too dumb and sad to bother with, and I don’t agree with stalking or ferreting, or vindicated sexual abuse of minors and domestic violence but that just me. I’m certainly no match for your christian godliness and kindness to others. blech
Have fun at the fire kiddies, don’t let any decent human values stop you. You might have to shoot yourselves, and save the planet. haha
Alternatively just let the kids shoot each other, which you seem to be rather good at with no end in sight. Where on earth are your values?
Guns/children, no contest really guns win. Some countries, and I know you won’t believe me, don’t even have guns, and we manage quite well.

JA is afraid to sit and have the family look her eye to eye and tell her who she really is. She had to be looking Travis eye to eye when she stabbed him in the chest. She will do whatever she can to avoid that. She has time to face death regardless. She does not have time to avoid this. She killed Travis because he called her out as to what she really was. Now she is going to have to hear it from someone who deeply feels it and I can not believe that the family would be denied to look eye to eye in person to Travis’ murderer and tell her who she really is. I hope it is eating the eff out of her.

Hi, Fred, I noticed you chose one of my favorite identifiers when people dissolve their logical arguments: ad hominem. I see that on the Topix columns at the opening bell.

So far, I haven’t seen anyone do that to you–probably because the people here are wise, and kind, and important. They think well of themselves and treat themselves same. They would not want anyone to speciously impune them personally, which makes it much more unlikely they would resort to an ad hominem attack in any debate on these pages.

You, madam, seem passionate about women in domestic violence situations. We are, too, very much so. Jodi Arias claimed abuse, but it was only to cover her murder, a killing she admitted and was convicted for. Sorry that this isn’t the time to defend her and denounce domestic violence.

Read these pages, though, and you will see much advocacy in that realm. Advocacy that actually counts for something, if I may be so proud.

Stay smart, and kind, and important, Fred. Because you are.

  35. A Texas Grandfather says:

    Fred

I can see from your writings that you have a big problem regarding how you think about things. It is also plain that you think being old gives you a pass on experiences that may well be repeated twenty times over.

This entire site is all about teaching and learning regarding the behavior of perpetrators towards their victims and how our criminal justice system and the support agencies behave in a criminal case.

If you really read history and understand it, you would not be making such comments as I have read. I may be older than you. The thing that I see in your posts is there is anger that everyone does not think as do you.

We have professionals of all types posting on this site. Many with multiple years of experience in their fields. The one thing we do is respect one another. If we disagree, we do it in a manner that does not attack the person.

The behavior of humans is complex and cannot be made to fit into any particular mold. We all search for truth as best we can understand it. Each of us have free will that is given by our creator. We can therefore make choices. These are good or bad choices based on individual development.

I cannot make a choice for you. That is your job. However, I would ask that you think a little more about your views and how you express them.

Hi Word Girl. Thanks for asking. I posted the link before it was discussed here. Wasn’t completely convinced of its legitimacy so I decided to ask here. Thought it shone a light on some of the recent activity by Arias.

  39. whodunnit says:

This whole back and forth with what sounds like a disturbed person under poster name of Fred is upsetting to me. One of the lessons to be learned from the Arias trial is that it os VITAL to DISENGAGE IMMEDIATELY when you see behavior that feels “off”,. There are times that even just replying to a persons aggression is just asking for more.
When a person has been threatened, appears to have a stalker ( an this happened to me) the threat division of the police ( of L.A.P.D., at least) tell you to file a ” cry report”- knowing you cannot press charges, but at least making a record of the harassment. And what they always always always say is DO NOT RESPOND.

whodunnit- Fred is done posting, but I am of the firm opinion that I am open to criticism and alternative opinion. I am not open to bullies or folks that sling racism or general disregard for civil and constitutional rights I hold dear; as I believe the readers here do as well.

  40. Futureman says:

Fred: perhaps this lesson will help the next time you choose to contribute to a blog. The ad hominem fallacy functions argumentatively. That is, it involves rejecting a person’s view or position based on his/her perceived character flaws or motives. I certainly was not contesting your view or position in this way. You’ve yet to offer a view worth contesting. Perhaps in your home grotesque generalizations about certain classes of people are proscribed unless those generalizations concern Americans or religious persons? In any case, thanks for not coming back.
