Nicole Ganguzza Murder : Break in the Case Former Orange County Employee Questioned *Evidence Seized*

Posted by BOC Staff | Murdered,Nicole Ganguzza | Wednesday 4 March 2009 7:36 pm

Bruce Trebian, resident of Colonial Hills Mobile Home Park, Orange County, is one of three persons currently being questioned today in connection with the rape and murder of UCF Grad student Nicole Ganguzza. Although WFTV had been reporting the subjects name as Michael Bruce Trebian, sources inside the OCSO have confirmed to Blink on Crime that is incorrect,  and has since been corrected on their site.

Mr. Trebian of 8807 Bexhill Boulevard was a county employee from October 2006 until July 2008, one month after the Ganguzza murder. As a county employee with access to the trail, it was announced that he would be required to provide a DNA sample, but failed to show up that day for work. He did however eventually provide a swab to detectives and subsequently resigned from his position with a satisfactory work record.  In an unusually long resignation letter, Trebian complained of the park and trail being very slow.

It does not appear that Bruce Trebian has a criminal record in Florida, although currently there are 2 civil action cases pending against Mr. Trebian. They can be found here and here. Take note of the judge assigned to the second case; His honor Stan Strickland. Trebian’s Father is in Law Enforcement, assigned as a court officer in Michigan.

Property Records indicate that Trebian owns property in Hernando County, Florida in a living trust arrangement with his mother.

Possible Running Connection

According to both neighbor accounts and sources close to the case, Trebian was an avid runner and could be found running or biking on the trail which ran behind his home to Blanchard Park. Additionally, as far back as 2002, he competed in and placed respectfully in at least 2 Triathlete competitions in Central Florida.

Unconfirmed: Possible Sketch Match

I received a comment to my first article on this piece today, which contained a name of a relative to Trebian and allegation of a man the poster said stayed in the home of Bruce Trebian and is named in the sealed warrant. They went on to say that the attempted rape sketch produced from the witness that occurred on July 8 matches the description of the alleged relative and house guest. If this is correct, this individual has a violent criminal history. Because I cannot confirm this information, I am withholding it until the warrant is made public and it corroborates the post. The image on the left is the alleged family member, the image on the right is the sketch of the suspect in the attempted rape.

Casey Anthony Case: New Attorney Todd Macaluso Reconstructing the Train Wreck?

Posted by BOC Staff | Casey Anthony,Caylee Anthony Case,Jose Baez,Todd Macaluso | Tuesday 3 March 2009 10:23 am

As was first reported as breaking news on Blink on Crime yesterday, Todd Macaluso, the most recent addition to the Casey Anthony defense team appeared in court next to Jose Baez during the motions hearing yesterday. ToddM_Bio_1

This is no accident. Pun intended. Among other specialties, Mr. Macaluso is the leading industry attorney in high profile accident reconstruction. Blogs were blazing at this announcement through the evening, as was my email. Further research and case study sheds some light on the possible needs of the Baez Law Firm for Mr. Macaluso’s legal prowess.

Casey Anthony Case: Baez Motion Hearing Results. New Lawyer on the Case

George and Cindy Anthony, seated next to their attorney, Brad Conway, were present to support their daughter, Casey Anthony.

Jose Baez first introduced a new attorney to the defense team: Todd Macaluso. According to Baez, their is a forthcoming motion to introduce him to the docket officially. Therefore, Judge Strickland indicated he did not expect counsel to speak before him in this hearing. Macaluso is a high-profile class action and personal injury attorney with offices in Carlsbad, CA. It is unclear at this point in what capacity he will support the defense team.

Judge Strickland consolidated the issue perfectly:

“I guess your asking me to find a way to not make news out of news”

Baez spent a considerable amount of time arguing the difference of private images and their lack of probative value to the case. Specifically, he gave the analogy that if the state photographed Casey’s underwear drawer, it does not mean that the media has a right to it.

(author’s note: I am willing to bet a photo of an empty drawer would be of zero interest to the media or anyone else.)

NFL Players Among Missing Boaters in Florida *BOAT FOUND*

Posted by BOC Staff | Missing Persons | Sunday 1 March 2009 2:46 pm

UPDATE*2* SEARCH SUSPENDED TODAY

Sadly, the Coast Guard has announced that they will suspend the current search efforts for Will Bleakely, Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith at sundown today. They do not believe any of the missing men are on the surface on the water. Please keep these men, their friends and families in your thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE 1:17 PM

The fishing boat that has been missing since Saturday belonging to Marquis Cooper has been located.

Boat Found

Missing boater Nick Schuyler was clinging to the vessel when it was spotted about 30 miles off the Gulf Coast and is alive. He was airlifted to an undiscosed Hospital in Tampa Bay. At this time, the other three boaters, Marqis Cooper, Corey Smith and Will Bleakely have not been located. All three others were reported to have been wearing life vests and the search for them continues. News footage of Schulyer showed him weak, but able to speak to rescuers. He told them the boat was anchored when the rough waters caused it to flip over and that he had been clinging to it since then.

He was seperated from the other 3 men immediately and had not seen them since. Stay tuned for updates.

Clearwater Florida, Pinellas County – Two popular NFL players and 2 USFL players have been reported missing following their failure to return to shore  as scheduled early this morning at 1:30am.

Bleakley  Cooper  Smith  Schuyler

Detroit Lions defensive end Corey Smith and Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, both former Tampa Bay Buccaneer players have been reported missing along with at least two others. According to the Coast Guard, former USFL players Will Bleakley and Nick Schuyler were also on board the fishing vessel when it left on Saturday morning at 6:30 am from the Seminole boat ramp. The boat, owned by Cooper, had been used by the pair on fishing trips previously.

Ron Del Duca, Smith’s agent, confirmed he has spoken with the Coast Guard and Smith’s family and all methods to locate the group are being deployed by the Coast Guard.

“They’ve assured me that they’re deploying all available resources to look for these guys and get them back,” he said. Davis said the water was “extremely rough and choppy” on Sunday afternoon.”

Smith was due to begin meeting with teams as a free agent this week.

Bill Keenist, spokesmen for the Detroit Lions, had heard their was a boat missing but could not confirm Smith was on it.

“We’re aware of the media reports,” Keenist said Sunday afternoon. “We’re trying to find out what we can.”

A source within the Coast Guard has confirmed there was a small craft advisory last evening after waves swelled from 2–4ft earlier in the day to 20 knot winds and up to 7 foot seas. The search is currently focused on a 750 mile radius outside of Clearwater.

There is no evidence to indicate this incident is related to the recent upsurge in crimes against NFL players that has caused several players to retain 24 hour bodyguards. Earlier this year, Quarterback for the reigning Superbowl Champions, Ben Rothlesberger, reported he had hired 2 guards and refused to go anywhere without them.

*UPDATE*

US Coast Guard Captain Timothy M. Close has confirmed usage of a 87 foot rescue boat, combined with USCG helicopters over a 750 mile area and other assets have not turned up any sight of the 21 Ft. vessel or it’s passengers. Close said at least one of the men was an experienced boater, but the craft was relatively small for conditions Saturday evening.

“A 21-foot boat is a relatively small vessel to be 50 miles off shore in bad weather conditions, certainly the current weather conditions,” Close said.

Close went on to say there had been no communication with the men prior to the degrading weather conditions, and no signals or contact was received from them whatsoever. Coopers truck and boat trailer remained in the parking lot Sunday evening with what appeared to be a handwritten note under the windshield wiper. It read “please call the coastguard, someone was worried about your well being.”
