Morgan Harrington Case: State Police Say She Was Hitchhiking

Posted by BOC Staff | Missing Persons,Morgan Harrington | Friday 13 November 2009 2:31 pm

Charlottesville, VA– In the latest release from Corrine Geller, spokesperson for the Virginia State Police, it has been confirmed that the VSP have independent accounts of Morgan Harrington hitchhiking on the Copley Bridge.

Also in the latest release, is a picture of the Swarovski necklace she was wearing.

Swarovski knecklace

Virginia State Police are also asking if anyone loaned their cell phone to Morgan that evening.

“Anyone who might remember seeing a vehicle randomly stopped in the roadway on Copeley Road bridge that night is also asked to contact investigators,” the release said. “Investigators are also hoping to hear from anyone who might have loaned their cell phone to a young woman fitting Miss Harrington’s description to make a call that night.

“We don’t have any evidence she made other calls,” Geller says, “but we’d like to know.”

Also confirmed, as reported exclusively on blinkoncrime.com; The last people to interact with Morgan Harrington were players from the UVA Men’s basketball team.

According to several sources, members of UVA’s men’s basketball team were among the last to see Harrington in the grassy, tree-shrouded parking area. Emails sent to numerous team members were forwarded to UVA spokesperson Carol Wood, who directed the inquiry to State Police, but Geller declines comment on the identity of any witnesses.

“We leave it to them whether they want to speak publicly,” she says.

The Full News Release From VSP:

STATE AND LOCAL POLICE STILL SEEK PUBLIC’S AID IN LOCATING MORGAN HARRINGTON

RICHMOND – As the search and investigative efforts continue for missing college student Morgan Harrington, state and local investigators are now able to release additional details concerning the night of her disappearance. Miss Harrington disappeared Oct. 17, 2009, during a Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena on the University of Virginia (UVA) campus in Charlottesville, Va.

During the course of the investigation, police have been able to establish a timeline of Miss Harrington’s movements once she ended up outside of the arena at approximately 8:30 p.m. After talking to her friends on her cell phone, she then walked through the parking lot of University Hall and was also seen in the Lannigan Field athlete parking lot, which is also used for RV parking. At around 9:30 p.m., she was seen walking on the Copeley Road bridge near Ivy Road.

Based on independent witness accounts, investigators are confident that Miss Harrington was hitchhiking for a ride while on the Copeley Road bridge. If anyone recalls seeing a young woman hitchhiking that night on or near the Copeley Road bridge, then they are asked to please contact police by phone or email. Anyone who might remember seeing a vehicle randomly stopped in the roadway on Copeley Road bridge that night is also asked to contact investigators. Investigators are also hoping to hear from anyone who might have loaned their cell phone to a young woman fitting Miss Harrington’s description to make a call that night.

In addition to Miss Harrington’s black T-shirt with the word “Pantera” spelled out in tan letters, black mini-skirt, black tights, and knee-high black boots, she was wearing a distinctive necklace. It is a Swarovski Crystal necklace made up of large crystal chain links. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

The search and investigation are still being actively pursued by Virginia State Police, University of Virginia Police, Charlottesville Police, Albemarle County Police and the FBI. The public has generated close to 400 leads in the case. Anyone can call the Virginia State Police Tip Line at (434) 352-3467 or email State Police at bci-appomattox@vsp.virginia.gov. UVA Police can be reached at (434) 924-7166. Anonymous tips are welcome.

Also accepting tips is the Jefferson Area Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000. A reward of $150,041 is available for information that leads to the location and recovery of Miss Harrington.

“Based on independent witness accounts, investigators are confident that Miss Harrington was hitchhiking for a ride while on the Copeley Road bridge.”

Confident? They definitively believe she disappeared while hitchhiking and that none of the other theories have any merrit?

They said it, not me, I don’t think it’s an accident they did not do a live pressconf. Almost a month in they are now confident she was hitchhiking? This is in stark contrast to Dr. Harrington’s comments yesterday and frankly, I have a feeling the relationship between them and the Harrington’s is about to sour. I say this with respect, but I can tell you as a fact the Harrington’s were not told about the exchange with the basketball players until I reported it. If I were them I would be fuming.

This is making NO sense! If we were her parents, I would have SERIOUS questions for the investigators. Where is the FBI? You would think by now they would have more involvement… Hoping and praying for Morgan and her friends and family! I still find it hard to believe that she would hitchhike???

  3. SCHokie says:

IF it is true that Morgan was hitchhiking (and that’s a big if), to me that indicates more strongly that she was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and that there may have been some falling out with her firends at the concert. I cannot imagine a smart young woman like Morgan making a decision to hitchhike unless her judgement was impaired and she was very emotional about something. If she was indeed alone and needing a way back home, it makes so much more sense for her to wait for her friends after the concert ended. This may also support her friends not speaking more publicly about the situation.

I believe she was, I believe they all were. Getting sauced at 20 at a rock concert should not cost you your life. I feel I am getting dangerously close to saying something I should know better not to, say I may take a break.

Except for this (cringe) You now have an investigating body ( UVA police) who is employed by UVA. You have confirmed UVA basketball players as the last verified people to interact with a woman who goes missing within 10 minutes. You now have, almost a month into it, “confirmation” that she was on the bridge and hitchiking. Conveniently, that would take Morgan off campus, would it not?

First, are we sure that Corrine Geller was not misquoted? Is there any video of this conference or was this a press release?

Would LE want a relationship to sour, no, unless they want to put distance between themselves and the parents, who may be POIs (And they are not at all, in my opinion)?

Why would LE withhold information of who last saw her? Possibly to keep the rumor mill from spilling out a Duke-like story, but c’mon….

  5. Word Girl says:

By the way, Blink, the Swarovsky site is nearly crashing; tons of traffic on it!!

  6. mountaintime says:

    Whaaat????
As a mother, this is staggering information…
    was she impaired?
Could she have been this foolish?
Why would she LEAVE HER CAR?
    HER FRIENDS????? To HITCHHIKE??
O god…I have lead in the pit of my stomach…
what in the world is going ON here??!!

If she was hitchhiking…someone would have SEEN her??

  7. AtotheK says:

Sorry but its blantanly obvious the 3 bb players told LE she was hitching…to take eyes of themselves.

It would be one way to explain why you pulled over, no?

Do you know if a potential link with the August tragedy is still being considered or has that waned.

  9. Sal says:

Hitchiking…really? I have a hard time buying that one. She was at a concert. I would assume she had money on her. Why not just call a cab? Even if she didn’t have cash for the cab, she could have had it stop by an atm. I just can’t believe that she would be standing on a bridge asking random strangers for a ride.

    Somebody help me understand this.

Not me. She walked through the area where cabs/limos park waiting for fares. HER CAR IS IN THE LOT.

    Let’s roleplay:

“I am standing out in cold, its misting, missing the show I have been looking forward to for 6 months while you Aholes are inside rocking out and I cant get back in. Get the eff off your ass, find some security person to let you pass my keys to me so I can sit in the car and seethe until it’s over.”

No way, I said from day one, she was no way hitchhiking. The only thing I will buy, is when I was kid, and my parents were picking me up from something, when I saw them coming, I used to stand in the street with my thumb out to annoy them.

Anyone remember the person who said he stopped at boyd’s tavern (which I think is actually a gas station/convenience store) that night, around the time of Morgan’s disappearance, to see if it was still open? He was approached by a very distraught young man needing directions to Harrisonburg. He said there were several people in the car and that the guy ran off before he could even give him directions. That report stood out to me when I heard it and it stands out even more now if she were indeed hitchhiking. Maybe this guy or guys were the ones who picked her up, something happened and it sounds like they were in panic mode, which as you know can lead people to make very bad decisions. Know anything about if this person was ever interviewed by police Blink???

  11. NYMom says:

Hitchhiking? So she was so blotto that she dropped/left her purse–an item she likely would have put on her back reflexively, even in a hypothetical altered state–in the parking lot, but she was oriented enough to then make her way to the roadside and stick her thumb out?

I can only hope this info is a red herring.

How bizarre. LE’s only NOW asking for anyone who might have lent MHD a cell phone to come forward? Is that because they KNOW someone got a call from her past that 9:30-9:40 PM window? Or is all this coming from the BB players? And if so, with the buzz about Morgan all over UVA campus, what took them so long to give LE info?

  12. chitown lady says:

HITCHHIKING ??????????? I think she was smarter then that……More like picked up by someone she knew……I’m sorry but….i for one am not buying into this HITCHHIKING theory…Its been almost a month and now they come up with this?????? Confirmed by who ???????? Sounds a little all too easy…..BTY nice necklace actually. pricey this I know……Maybe this crack police dept can check to see if any pawn shops came across it…..look on the sides of the road…….anyone get this necklace as a gift in the last 3 weeks?????? Hitchhiking my behind…….

  13. dddeerma says:

I guess it would take eyes off the players if they all claim she was hitching… that is a very high risk behavior, and this girl did not seem stupid enough or even young enough to stick out a thumb for a ride. I seem to see a subtext in your remarks on the comments, Blink.

  14. dddeerma says:

Does anybody have contact with her friends? Maybe her friends would confirm if hitching was something she had done before? I haven’t seen a hitchhiker in years.

XACTLY. And If I ever do see a young woman hitchiking I am going to pull over, and scold her properly.

  15. Eli B. says:

I agree with Blink here…we have a thread about it at the find morgan website. Here’s what I posted:

I feel that the reason the UVA players were suspended (and took a leave) may have been not because they were the abductors, but most likely because at first they may have kept their mouth shut about something, and once they admitted the truth to the cops, they got in trouble for withholding info from the police. Either one of their friends, or someone they didn’t know but was hanging took Morgan from the lot and left her stuff in the lot. I believe that Morgan was possibly intoxicated, and all this could have implications for both UVA and the basketball team (think the recent Duke lacrosse players ‘scandal’) which is why a lot of this is being conducted on the down low. I believe the players may have made some bad decisions that kept them quiet at first (drinking, sex). I’m thinking now that the sighting on the bridge may have just been someone else. The suspension seems long enough to have been something somewhat serious, but not long enough to have been involved in the actual abduction.

Remember “Dee” who came forward. She leaves the arena about the time that Morgan would have been last seen and in the footage it said she was being aggressively escorted by 3 males- Did she get booted and that’s who was seen on the bridge? The same woman seen by the paper lady?

As in big campus, big people, big bucks, exposure too big?

  17. Eli B. says:

What better way to get her ‘off campus’ and out of the UVA spotlight than ‘hitchiking?’ No way. No way you left your car, keys, purse, and phone to go with someone willingly. Those are like the 4 basic elements of a young persons life!

  18. Mystified says:

Maybe she was so wasted she had passed to the angry, paranoid stage, and wanted to get away from every body and every thing. And just started walking. Doesn’t have to be a rationale thought but I bet it seemed that way to her at the time.

  19. Gypsy DD says:

I can not wrap my brain around Morgan hitchhiking at 9:30 at night, in the rain and cold..when her car is stitting right in the parking lot. How in the world could she know anyone on that road would be going in her direction? Her friends were bound to come out of the concert within an hour..she could have waited by the security doors.

Now wondering about a phone being used..huh? Did someone caome forward and say she asked to borrow their phone and they didn’t have one? Certainly the LIMO driver would have made a call to her family for her..WTH..mindboggling.

    how utterly convenient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe if it starts hitting donations, scholarships and arena events then someone or somebody will stand up for this girl!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP FBI!!!!!!!!!!!! needs to be running the show and no joke, the harrington’s need to get mad and i mean mad!!!!!!!!!!
i guess it is time to defame the reputation of morgan. i knew we were not long for it and her friends, well, let’s call them what they are frenemies!!!!!!!!!!!! how about sarah and amy and whomever else was with her. STAND UP FOR YOUR FRIEND!!! maybe a jmu basketball player was meeting up with a uva basketball player and that is the “dude” that rode with them to charlottesville. coverup all the way around!!! i am disgusted that we as a society are attacking the victim and remember people MORGAN DANA HARRINGTON IS THE VICTIM!!!! thank you!

  23. HoGrad says:

This is probably not on your radar in the scheme of things, but I just wanted to say I was one of the people slamming you on the sabre about your report about the UVA players.

I was wrong, and I see your inside info was spot on. While I am saddened by it, I would be more sad if my child was missing so you should be proud for breaking it.

  24. PamTX says:

You have absolutely got to be kidding me!!!! If “investigators are confident that Miss Harrington was hitchhiking for a ride while on the Copeley Road bridge” then they are conveniently IMO placing her completely out of range for any liability. I have been wondering about that for a very long time and “BAM” here it is. Parts of Morgan’s disappearance makes no sense and now LE has jumped right in there to add confusion. Who’s worried about a law-suit is my first question?

It is absurd that all these weeks have gone by and they are now announcing that they “have eye witness accounts” of hitchiking. OK, let’s wait over a month then to alert the public on this scenario. WTH!? Since I am not from that area, I would LOVE to know from locals if this information has been in any form of media prior to now.

I would be absolutely livid. Takes me back to original theories I have had as the sightings on the bridge did not sit well with me. It’s dark, misting, commenter “Observer” says traffic was heavy, I can’t believe the lighting is that good but not sure. Who can really make a positive id under those circumstances. Weren’t most of those cars in “heavy traffic” still trying to hurry and get to the concert? For me, I go back to the sighting before the bridge and it makes better sense. Just my opinion.

Blink do you ever get the feeling you get too close for comfort for some? I don’t believe this press release is a coincidence at all.
    Unreal…just simply unreal.

I know it was not. There is a missing woman, imo, she comes first.

  25. mjh says:

Looking back, I know I’ve done a few stupid things in my life, and I think “Boy, that was stupid”, and I know that I have been lucky that no harm ever came to me for those few “not thinking straight” times.

But, I would NEVER, EVER hitchhike. NEVER, not even while intoxicated. The dangers of that have been well known for MANY years. I am sure that all young girls (and boys) have been taught NEVER to accept a ride from a stranger. A smart girl like Morgan, with the family that she comes from, would know the dangers of this, I am sure.

I do not, for one minute, believe that she was hitchhiking. I just don’t.

Even if I was at the point where I was locked out of a concert and was unable to contact anyone for a ride. I would go back to the front entrance and wait for my friends to come out.

So, we’re supposed to believe that she was hitchhiking, and then her purse ended up in the same parking lot that she was last seen talking to people in? I don’t buy it.

  26. Gypsy DD says:

Curious about the necklace also. Why release a pic of it now if she was wearing it the last time she was seen? Are they in effect saying that the BB players didn’t see her with the necklace so therefore it most be out there somewhere? Or did the friends notice she had taken it off and put it in her purse..but it was not there when the purse was turned in at UVA.

And still no pics of Morgan that night and a missing camera…who was on those photos in her camera and her friends cameras?

  27. fish says:

BY THE WAY..let’s inact ESPN and find out why the UVA basketball players are suspended???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! i do not believe in coincidences!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone from the school of UVA knows something!!!

    meanwhile morgan is somewhere??????????????

alive or dead and her family knows nothing!!!!!!!!
we have all searched until we were exhausted both physically and mentally. this could be yours or my child. please someone demand answers.

UVA has sunk to a new low!!!! seek and destroy Morgan.

how convienent that this is all released today a friday afternoon.

START A BOYCOTT OF UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA!!!!!!!!!! and how about adding in the VIRGINIA STATE POLICE AND THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE.

do not sent your kids there, do not spend money there and do not support this coverup!!!

REMEMBER SOMEONE WALKS AMONG US AT BEST A KIDNAPPER AND AT WORST A MURDERER!!!

BLINK…I IMPLORE YOU, IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO???

Yes, Fish for starters, and I say this respectfully. Chill with the caps, as you can imagine like most I start the weekend with a screaming headache. What we CANNOT do, is what you suggest. There is not a shred of evidence other than we as reasonable people, are not eating what we are being served. I am not and never will be an in your face supporter when it comes to these matters because they will then never be taken seriously.

I have every confidence that regardless of accurate or misinformation, that if Morgan met her fate with a known suspect (unknown to us) like you are inferring, that individual is being investigated as we speak. You cant rally the troops against innocent people like the entire campus. I promise, there are many more there that would help her than there are that would cover it up. I have to admit the spokesperson for UVA deferred to the VSP, that to me is telling.
    B

  28. Gypsy DD says:

I think Morgan’s friends have remained silent long enough..I think they need to come forward and say that she was not the type of person to hitch when her car was still there in the lot.

My heart breaks for the Harrington’s more by the hour.
    B

  29. mountaintime says:

Blink…you are SO right. This stinks/reeks/of cover up.
It would not be the first time a University was complicit in diverting attention from a crime on campus…

I am so utterly outraged and appalled…SO MANY crimes against women and children…
and to COVER ONE UP literally sickens me.

Bless you for all that you do…I don’t know how you find the energy, but I thank you for it.

I think it is important to note my exact position on the matter before all the villagers grab their torches.
I am not accusing anyone of a cover up. I am saying I do not for a milifathom think Morgan was hitch hiking. I am saying I think it was irresponsible of the VSP to release that statement the way they did, without the ability to clarify it.

Furthermore, Dr. Harrington is a former staffer at UVA. Morgan’s brother graduated from there. Wth?
    B

  30. gigi says:

is it possible that she was drunk or very high and was behaving in such a way that security guards escorted her out of the arena? that would explain why she perhaps dropped her bag and phone, if she was being “hauled out” in a very quick and aggressive way. that might also explain why she didn’t drive her own car away, if she had left her keys with her friends and if she was so intoxicated. she may have been angry and humiliated at being thrown out of the concert and took off walking.

  31. R.L Haley says:

did one of the players I.D. her on that bridge or mabey a friend of theirs?

  32. wpgmouse says:

Somebody is pulling the strings here with this released information via no live press conference, allowing for no questions asked.

Is this at the expense of Morgan, in aid of the entire campus and its holdings, or in aid of a more specific entity with the campus realm.

Or is this released “information” strategic.

I would like to think to the latter.

  33. blue says:

I am guessing this is all leading to a cover-up? Or that’t the current theory, anyway.

I have a sad feeling that the only way this girl will be found is if someone stumbles over her body. Given that it’s the beginning of hunting season, I hope that’s the case, so at least her parents will have some closure.

  34. suz says:

Gotta’ be a fight with the friends, right? I can see myself storming off and leaving my car with my friends and being a big martyr and finding my own way home in the cold and rain. (especially at that age, drunk or not)

  35. PamTX says:

Gypsy DD — I agree with you 100%!!

It took me about 20 seconds to say to myself “OMG, I said the “L” word. I have read so many other sites in quick passing about this subject, that it made me sick. I truly hope it does not go off in a direction I never intended it to. That’s not what my comment was about.

The necklace — How many people have jogged, walked their dogs, just plain walked by that area since Morgan’s disappearance? Surely would have been nice to have that in the public eye before now. Don’t know how many times I have seen people pick things up and keep on walking without a thought. Maybe we should all keep what we find in the event LE ties it to a missing person and doesn’t release that information for weeks. Sheesh!

Look the other way folks ’cause we need you looking for hitchhiking witnesses, a necklace, a camera, and anyone who loaned her a phone,… while we put out fires here since yesterday’s news release. Snarky, and I just can’t help it.

My opinion is she was wearing the necklace when some POS abducted her.
Hang in there Blink, I think you are so on target, girl!

  36. stephanie canny says:

If this hitchhiking story is news to the Harringtons this a.m. and done as a press release only, there’s a cover-up, IMO. As soon as the facts started leaking about the basketball players, they want to place her off campus as has been said. Mouths everywhere have been squelched. I was already thinking this last night with the UVA BB players. I was already thinking this at least two weeks ago when there was absolutely no security staff interviews. All the people in charge have seemingly had no information–this reeks.

  37. PamVA says:

Does this make any sense? The parent’s told LE that she had an unusual necklace and she was wearing it that night b/c it was missing. One of these basketball players may have described this necklace and they have therefore concluded that they definitely saw Morgan. To what extent is their involmement becomes the question.

  38. SC says:

I NEVER believed the bridge story from the beginning.

  39. hummingbird says:

Hello Blink i have been following this case from day one. I agree with you everyone is innocent until proved guilty. No one should jump to conclusions.I do remember reading very early on that Morgan briefly talked to a couple of UVA basketball players but it was never made clear the length of time she talked to them which now appears to be around ten minutes which is quite long time, not just a “hi” as she passed.
Also with the established timeline it appears they were the last known witnesses to interact with her before she vanished. I am sorry but the whole situation now appears to be a big political mess reminiscent of the badly handled “Duke “situation. With major players and major social issues at stake. Now nearly a month into Morgans disappearance information is coming out that potentially implicates powerful bodies within the establishment of Virginia, who would not want the national spotlight to be on them in this mess.
Relevant information seems to have been withheld shockingly enough even from the parents while LE and the implicated parties have been scrambling around playing for time and figuring out how best to cover themselves.
Information that may have been able to save or find Morgan or at least locate her.
Perhaps they thought it would just go away and die down. But no, Morgans parents are committed. intelligent, innovative and will never stop. Also they have the public on their side.
The public are tired of all of this violence towards women and children, with the internet and combined resources a groundswell of support and action is available to this family
Metallica has also come out in support of Morgan which adds to the overall visibility of the case.
    It is groundbreaking.
Law enforcement go after violent offenders after the fact, perhaps a case like this will lead towards the concept and creation of crime prevention centers to look why and how this happening and how we can collectively take a stand against it.
It appears to be a very explosive situation. Take a stand folks stay focused verbal and active on this case.
Thankyou Blink for your vigilance and your smarts.

  40. mjh says:

After thinking about this for a little while, I am of the opinion that LE has done this on purpose.

I also have my theory on why they released a picture of the necklace at this time.

I think they probably know exactly what they are doing.

I have been considering that, except save for the fact that I know unequivocally they were not going to speak on the UVA players issue and the Harrington’s did not know about the exchange until I put it out. I personally think it was a conversation that took place between VSP and the Harrington’s when they did inquire about it late yesterday or this morning.

On the necklace I might agree, except searchers already had that as well.
    B

  41. SC says:

They also put out an outwardly benign question about the possibility of her using someone’s cell phone–that’s only because she called someone and they have held onto the information (because of who the recipient is). They’re fishing and attempting to save face at the same time.
If the LE has withheld info. from the Harrington’s, and not for a very good reason, this is pitiful.

  42. Gypsy DD says:

I don’t believe the bridge story either..for that matter who hitch’s on a bridge? And we are talking about an intelligent young women, earning her degree in education, who has worked with children of families where there has been domestic violence. She comes from an intelligent family..she had her own apartment with her friend. She certainly would be smart enough to know basic safety measures to live on her own. Therefore she would not have been hitching..no way. She was savvy enough, I think, to know not to hitch and to know if she couldn’t reach anyone by phone to wait for her friends. It was her car after all that sitting in the lot.

Was she perhaps asking the bb players to use a phone of theirs or to go into their part of the building to make a call to someone? I don’t know if the bb players are involved but I do know that Morgan hitching on bridge in the cold and rain makes no sense.

  43. mjh says:

    Blink,

I would like to share with you what I am thinking, but I would rather it not be publicly posted at this time.

Go ahead, I will keep private.
    B

  44. PamVA says:

#41- I agree, I think someone, somewhere is squirming right now over the cell phone call.

O this is where I am.
    B

  45. JA says:

I think everyone is too quick to jump to the conclusion that the hitchhiking announcement is a smokescreen for anything. If Morgan was hitching with the intent of getting back to Harrisonburg, the logical route for a car from Copeley bridge would be to take Rt. 250 either east or west to I-64 West to I-81 North to Harrisonburg. As I said above, you can go either east or west on Rt. 250 and get to I-64. If a car picked Morgan up and was heading in the direction of JPJ, the natural route to I-64 is to turn left at the light and take Leonard Sandidge Road to Rt. 250 East. Rt. 250 East intersects with I-64 in an area of Charlottesville known as Pantops Mountain. There have been multiple police searches in the Pantops Mountain area, as far back as 10/24. Here is a link:

It could very well be that the police have known about the hitchhiking for quite some time and actually were able to trace her movements as far as the Rt. 250/I-64 junction at Pantops Mountain. Why they are just now releasing it to the public is an unknown, but it is not unlikely in my opinion that they have had this fact for quite some time.

Well my first question would be how did they trace her then because her cell phone was dead by 9:30PM. That tip was based on someone seeing a vehicle that should not have been there or words to that effect.

If they had credible evidence this girl was hitchhiking ( and I reserve the right to decide what I feel is credible) than think about how utterly imperative that would have been to release publicly IMMEDIATELY. How do you couple that information with no signs of foul play with a missing 20 year old? IN it’s totality, the information coming out does not gahzinta.

I am starting to be reminded of Kristen Smart. The university police botched that investigation and the local police (once they got a hold of it) didn’t do much better. I smelled a rat then and it seems one may be wrapped up in this tragedy too. Athletes are gods on any university campus. They bring in the money. who knows…..while people keep bringing up the Duke situation,I have never been fully convinced of their innocence. Hoping something happens to bring closure for the Harringtons….what a nightmare.

BLINK: i would like to say we all are in this together. i thought it and said it was a coverup as soon as it dropped out of VSP mouth!

i was there on that search and now i am beginning to wonder if we all were pawns of THE univeristy of virginia to clear THEIR campus. we all have been duped!!! i for one am sick that this is now Morgan’s fault because she hitchhiked?! what kid does that in this generation when they have AT THEIR FINGERTIPS, the convienences of texting, IMing, cell calls and even facebook on their phones!!!!!

WTF!!!!! no way did this kid hitchhike!!!!!!!!

by the way, i am a 40-something, 30-something pound overweight, mother of two, migraine sufferer, have no clue and never met morgan or her parents or her family and friends and never met her frenemies but i came to do that search because from the get-go something was not right about this. i was committed to try to help find her. i took the time from my own children and family to drive and hour and half (both ways) to a place i had no clue where i was going and no clue who i would meet. i was alone!!! so please UVA don’t do this. do not disgrace MORGAN and HER FAMILY!!! you see, i will come out again to help find her and i am sure that all those people who walked next to me would too. we were parents, sisters, brothers and community members that cared!!

Well Fish, I guess I understand your CAPITALS a bit better. Thank you for your volunteerism. I promise you no matter how this ends, that is critically important.

#41 I agree 100% with you. How much more transparent could that statement/question have been.It was actually insulting to anyone following the case.
