Morgan Harrington Case: Virginia State Police On New Search
Charlottesville, VA– Virginia State Police are searching an area of route 64, between mile markers 112 and 114 today in their efforts to locate missing VT student, Morgan Harrington.
Located approximately 4 miles west of Charlottesville, VA, the stretch of highway leads up to an early area of interest, Crozet, VA.
VSP PR Manager, Connie Geller says the area is not being searched based on any new tip.

I personally get the sense that OYE is older than Morgan and perhaps some of the other girls…this would make me think she was not one of the 9 (also makes me think OYE might be Ramona…Can anyone confirm Ramona’s age?) While OYE doesn’t identify with Morgan on any level, she is very sarcastic and unsympathetic in her descriptions of Morgan’s parents seeing her as their “baby” and calling her naive, etc. Its not that unusual for parents to be overprotective of their children as they leave the nest. Especially if it is a daughter. Was OYE so critical of this because she didn’t like MH, because she was older than MH and couldn’t identify with this issue while the other girls in the 9 could, or could her parents have been totally unconcerned with her transition into adulthood?
I wanted to look into who OYE might be in a separate post, but can use a supporting snippet I was saving for that post in this one and that is a comment from Blink: “OYE- Last warning. Your behaving like a prickly pear. That is the nice way I put things when your clearly a wanna be Y Gen, like alot of us were, and we knew it all, until we learned we did not know it it all.”
Blink references Generation Y…. Dates differ but this could be young people born 1974 or after, while another source says its 1982 through 1995. My point is that that gives a hint to a specific age range. OYE wants to be a Gen Y…she wants to be younger… a Gen Y instead of a Gen X.
Based on my specific opinion, “older” here means old enough to distinguish oneself from the group of 9. So perhaps someone no longer of college age… I say 25-plus, minimum. I guess I would say it could go up to mid-30s. My cousin is in right around 30 and is very immature– I could very much see her writing like OYE. Especially considering that even if OYE is older, she is socializing with younger people and is probably also involved in their culture (TV, movies, texting, vocabulary, etc.)

My first reaction to this was that of all the girls, the fourth from the right wouldn’t like how she looked in that photo. She looks the most drunk/high. She is wearing a tie dye shirt made by the HH, who has been blasted on here repeatedly, and her belly is hanging out a little bit. She is also holding a party cup…as a student (and even now) I never allowed photos of me with a drink in my hand…but anyway, it is blatant evidence of her activities.
Add to the equation that she appears to be a bit older than the other girls…surrounding oneself with younger people only accentuates age…not to mention Blink’s post about OYE’s desire to be part of Generation Y (suggesting that she’s not, which would mean she has to be older).
I think OYE is the 4th from the left (2nd from the Right) who some have identified as Ramona.
CAN SOMEONE ANSWER WHY, WHY IS LE SO HUSH HUSH IF THEY HAVE NOTHING AS THEY SAY – NO POI OR EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY FOR THE MATTER? IF THIS IS THE CASE, EXACTLY WHY ALL THE SECRECY?
I wish LE would at least release (or someone else in the know would confirm/deny)….
- Did the dogs pickup her scent at Wild Wings?
- WHO reportedly seen her hitch-hiking besides UVA BB players and a UVA student?
- Was there a truck spotted on the bridge (another rumor I heard)
- What was her relationship with the “9″ as of late?
- Was there anyone in the circle Morgan was having issues with?
- Ex’s, any men who were “obsessed” with her, etc….
- What do the friends say about the plans after the concert, any parties?
- What did the BB players say?

WE NOW THE NAME OF THE MALE DRIVER – DAN. SO…..are we now able to get more info on him?
also some info about the textee — “However, during this time she also texted a male friend in a town 60 miles away. That individual has been excluded as a person of interest in this case by the Virginia State Police.” Article claims this info comes from Mr. Harrington.

That could be true, but if there is a no re-entry policy, then how would Dee get back in if she was kicked out?
I did have the chance to watch the video of Dee at the end of the concert, when they were throwing the big black balls into the audience. Either she or one of the guy’s she was with was carrying it out the door with them. So, I know she was definitely inside the arena at the end. Now, maybe she didn’t go into the arena until later, and she still could be the person that was sighted outside. If they were only there to see Metallica, they may have waited until after 9 to go in.

I’m sorry, I do not have a link to the “kiss on the cheek” interview. Unfortunately, I am experiencing computer problems, and was unable to locate it. But, I did read it on BOC on an earlier thread. It was apparently an interview with some of the friends early on, and IIRC, Sarah was the one who said she kissed her on the cheek. Which, seemed weird if she was only going to the ladies room.
I guess no matter how she ended up outside the arena — I still believe that she contacted and got a ride from someone she knew. I do believe her friends know who she was supposed to be with.
I really never believed she would hitchhike. But, I guess anything is possible.
I would think whatever her last texts were would be a huge clue in this mystery.

I felt the need to post now, because I seem to have missed the pocketbook thing.. when and where was it found? what information was in it? Is that the pocketbook that a couple of girls from the facebook found when they went searching by themselves? if so, was LE able to determine what its exact location was?

in that new examiner article Dr. Harrington says that Morgan interacted with 4 bball players. I am still not convinced that ehty were involved in Morgan’s disappearance but this is the first time I’ve seen 4. I thought it was 3.

The Examiner does a good job of listing all the known information. I note that Dr. H says Morgan spoke to 4 BBall players. Is this the new number?
Chad, have you ever spoken with the police? Should you tell them about your trips over the bridge in that time-frame and the fact that you saw no one?
I still wonder if the witnesses who saw her on the bridge are reliable? Also how long after the 17th were the search dogs employed? I have also read several articles debunking the reliability of search dogs. What to believe?

BlackPearl, I like the way you think. I would agree with your analyzation. Thank you for posting the blink gen X gen y theory. I’m still not sure of OYE identity though. I was leaning towards another individual, but some posters feel it is Romona. Can anyone tell us what connection Romona to Morgan. We have already established the band connection, but any contributions? If indeed Romona is OYE (I hate to use names) can anyone elaborate as to any insights on this relationship? I want to comment more on your posts, but have to go back to work. Will post and catch up later.

Thank you, Rabbit. So there’s the link between Ramona and the music scene and also to Morgan (aside from the pictures, obviously). So if I remember correctly, Morgan used to have Relacksachian listed on either her FB or Myspace page as being one of her favorite bands.
This relationship could very well be the type to elicit the kind of remarks OYE posted. She is dating a band member and is in the same local music scene that MH and friends are in. Ramona is “friends” with these girls. Perhaps truly friends with some, but is not part of the “9″. She’s 4 or 5 years older than MH. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if OYE is Ramona and does NOT like Morgan and/or Morgan and friends coming into her scene. These girls, younger, blond and bubbly are major competition! I remember this attitude being present in college… the guys love the start of the new year when new girls come to campus as freshmen, while the girls hate it because it just means more competition (this ties into girls generally dating guys their age and up versus guys being able to date a few years younger).

So from doing a facebook friend check the driver is Dan Cassagne. Attends JMU and is friends with Sarah Snead and Dee Spolarics. Friends with Morgan and Amy Melvin as well as Chelsea Helm, Jen McDaniel and Maggie Herrick. He is from New York and attends JMU, yet is connected to members of the nine attending various different schools throughout VA. That would lead me to assume he is dating a member of the nine that attends JMU but maybe not. Who is the girlfriend? He is also 6’4. Didn’t one of the sightings say she was with a very tall white guy?
There’s something about Sara Snead that I don’t trust. Just a gut feeling.
OK, so I hate to post names because I understand that we put people under the microscope and how awful that can be if they are unrelated to this…but it’s the only way to unleash all of Blink’s flying monkeys (or mice, if you prefer) to do their investigating on the internet…so…
I checked out Dee’s friends on Facebook and there is a Dan Cassagne that attends JMU. Based on his Facebook profile he is friends with Amy Melvin, Sarah Snead, and Jen McDaniel.

Dan Cassagne, was the driver. He has a brother John who is a teacher in Waynesboro, and his Dad runs the Hedge Fund circuit in NYC. The family is from Suffolk Cty NY. He is the boyfriend of Morgan Nichols, not Sarah Snead, fyi.

#500 – Momof3 – I get the impression she is implying it’s drug use, rather than alcohol. I don’t think this age group would ostracize a member for drinking as quickly as heavy drug use. But I mostly think OYE just doesn’t like MH and is trying to make us all think she is at fault for her own disappearance, through her unacceptable behavior. She seems jealous, even down to her moniker – Open Your Eyes.

Part of me feels like what happened to Morgan, happened before the concert and Dee S was dressed like Morgan for a reason. Maybe even wearing Morgan’s clothes, purposely dropping the purse etc.

That’s a very good question. Mr. Harrington had been previously very tight lipped about that. While they only gave a first name, that was all I needed to release it.

Lovely — yes she is the girl in the video and did apparently know the dan guy who drove morgan’s group. It is a huge coincidence that she was caught on tape and mixed up with morgan intially. I have to think that there were a lot of young women dressed in all black, minskirts/boots at the concert though. I was in charlottesville the other weekend and saw several girls dressed similarly out and about at the bars.
Lovely, I think that might be true for a big-city show. But for a college town, it doesn’t seem that far out to me. Plus, they’re not twinkies; just long-haired blondes in black.

To Skyler: Just a minor point for (hopefully) clarification, re: the distance between JPJ and Copeley Rd/the bridge: In a couple of posts you mention confusion about why MH might be of a mind to walk “so far” from JPJ to Copeley. Actually, the walk from JPJ to Copeley is a very quick one; that is, it is easy to exit JPJ, walk across the U-Hall parking lot, bringing you right to Copeley Rd. The RV Lot next to Lannigan Field is right off of Copeley, literally feet leading to the Copeley Bridge.
I share the above only because you mentioned on a few occasions that you are (as am I) “directionally-challenged”. [I've often kidded that I couldn't find my way out of a paper bag, and am sometimes surprised I can find my way home some evenings.] Given that you had gotten turned-around several times on the evening of October 17, 2009, the relationship of the different locations, e.g., JPJ, Copeley, Ivy, RV Lot, U-Hall, Massie Rd., Emmet St. etc. may have been confusing, especially on a rainy night.
Bottom line: Having walked that area myself innumerable times, I can attest that it is very easy to traverse the JPJ/Copeley Rd. area in a short, i.e., 5-7 min. period of time.
One, last thought: You’d asked, as well, why MH might have headed toward Copeley/Ivy. Rd. Had she exited the front of JPJ and headed straight, she would have ended-up on Massie Rd. which would have brought her only to the Darden Business School, the School of Law, and eventually the JAG School. There are no businesses in that direction. Heading toward Copeley and Ivy Rds., though, would have brought MH to businesses, e.g., 7-11, the Dragon Lady restaurant, the Ivy Square Shopping Center (inc. the Foods of All Nations grocery store), etc.
