Charlottesville, VA–The disappearance of Morgan Harrington, missing since October 17, 2009 is exhibiting the potential to reach a temperature that is currenlty encompassing the Northeast: VERY COLD.
Through the thousands of posts at blinkoncrime.com and numerous articles covering Morgan, it is clear that frustration in the lack of lead generation and ambiguous statements from the Virginia State Police are causing some to lack conviction Morgan will be found.
In a recent press conference by VSP, LE provided NO NEW information or progress regarding Morgan’s case. In a shift of posture by the Harrington family, Dr. Harrington has begun participating in online chat and sponsored an additional facebook site to help the efforts to find his daughter.
In fact, for the first time in 2.5 months, we know what kind of camera Morgan had with her the evening of the Metallica concert from his research.
In contrast, we have viewed footage and photos of her dear friends that have clearly moved on without the knowledge of their friends plight.
Girls will be girls you say? Before one person comes on here to tell me I am being too critical of these young women you should know that due to a fortunate Facebook update, describing these girls as Morgan’s friends is entirely generous.
Furthermore, if you happen to be one of the parents that has provided booze for underage minors captured on digital for all to see you may wish to take a peek at what is on your daughter’s social sites.
Have you thought about what it would be like to be Gil or Dan while your linin’ it up and throwin’ em back WITH your kids?
Fortunately, this is not the focus today. I do not feel Morgan’s friends did anything to directly cause her fate. They are more “ME” than frienemy, that is evident.
Gil Harrington, posting on the families site findmorgan.com, wrote one of the most eloquent and courageous posts from the Mother of a missing child I have ever read.
The snowfall is beautiful but still disturbing – melancholy. Wonder if Morgan is cold – is snow falling on her face – or is her face covered by leaves in a shallow grave being hidden by the snow. I glance out the window and see the crimson blaze of a cardinal at the bird feeder – my heart leaps for a second at the beauty – then I think its feathers look like blood in the snow. Is that what Morgan’s blood looks like in the snow? See how the pitfalls are everywhere – even at the bird feeder.
In a somewhat angst-ridden moment, a poster on blinkoncrime.com suggested any and all witnesses in this case should be subject to repeated Barry Manilow songs until they confess.
It jogged a memory for me that reminded me that I am proudly my Father’s daughter. Morgan is Dan Harrington’s daughter.
Maybe someone, somewhere, has just not approached that perspective.

Barry holds a special place in the heart of my family. When I was a kid I used to play dress up with my Mom’s clothes. If a pair of her way-too-big-for-me heels was “done”, she would let me cut off the ankle straps and dance around in them as slides.
One afternoon, when I should have been doing my homework, I was blaring Copa Cabana in my Parents study dressed like a thriftshop showgirl and when ” Who could ask for more…at the Copa” part came on, I kicked like a 12 year old Rockette and launched my “slide/RPG” into the ceiling.
There it stayed.
I threw everything I could find at that shoe to dislodge it. Nothing.
Except for the new marks on the scalloped ceiling.
Later, when unbeknownst to me, my Dad was reading his 12 daily newspapers in the study, I thought I might try another idea.
I jumped as hard as I could at the spot upstairs above where the slutslipper was lodged.
It worked on the 3rd try.
How do I know?
I heard a “S o n o f a …..” , then something that sounded like a combination of my first and middle names with a swear word interjected that was rising in tone and volume, and now coming my way.
As I hit the hallway to head to the other direction or squeeze myself unnaturally under something, there He was
My Dad, evidence in hand, smiling wryly form ear to ear.
“Yours I presume, young lady,” his forearm outstretched gently with the nail to my coffin in his palm.
I responded .. “What makes you say that?
Could be ketchup or mustards..”
(Lame editors note: do NOT ask, my sisters and I had bathing suits that matched when we were little that were red, yellow and white, respectively, it stuck to this day, I was Mayo)
He replied .. ” Because I know, this weekend, when you fish out your overalls and help me fix the ceiling before your Mother notices, you would rather do that than whatever she comes up with so we can be all done here. The End. ( Blink dad making the wipe hands clean gesture)
She has been talking about repainting the Family room for months, I would LOVE some help with that…”
“Yes Sir.” I muttered with a matching grimace.
“Can I have it back?” I asked.
“I would say your dancing days are on hold, dear daughter, for the foreseeable future, as are your TV privliges.”
“Anything else? ” I asked.
“Why yes, there is. If you choose to dance through the house with wreckless abandon, next time, do it when your homework is finished and in your tennis shoes. And can you please try to be more like your Mother and less like me?”
“Doubtfull Deets, doubtful.”
With that carefully measured tween rhetort I skipped down the hall, crisis averted and I am still Dad’s fave.
I can live with the painting. Wonder if I can pick the color??
I chose to share this very personal exchange with my Daddy because it dawned on me that maybe someone that reads this does not understand what Morgan’ s Father (and family, but this reference is strictly male) needs from them.
He was her protector. He is her ceiling fixer.
You have to give him back what you took so he can fix it for her and their family.
He does not care who you are or what you may have done.
You can do this for them now. Have faith that anything can be fixed. Anything.

I forgot to say that the name of the Carter Family song is “Diamonds in the Rough.”
I think that police identify individuals as a “person of interest” all the time — it is not a defined legal term. There is some question as to the civil liability that could attach to that however (think of Richard Jewell and Steven Hatfill), so it may be that police are shying away from the practice (as I believe they should). The term “suspect” is different and has a definite meaning that the person identified is believed to be the perpetrator, so “person of interest” is believed to be more vague and less accusatory (thereby carrying with it less change of legal liability).

Momof3 — what are you looking for in the video? Confirmation that Morgan was there (I believe she was and so does LE)? Confirmation of her condition (she was intoxicated — no surprise there)? I am just not sure what you are trying to find — there won’t be a person there with a “bad guy” t-shirt.
No one thinks we should do an audit of Morgans Facebook friends that went up 2 and down 2 in the first few days to see who dropped off?

J2K, I would be entirely there with you on the ‘Gil is sending a message to perp’ stuff, were it not for the fact that she routinely holds up her fingers and signs 2-4-1 to Morgan. The Harrington’s also have the symbol 2-4-1 painted in white circles on their front door.
Initially I found this odd, but now realize that this is just customary for them. SO, while I completely see the point you and Redly are making, a small part of me can reserve that it is at least within the realm of possibility.
For me, all of this superfluous information is being posted out of desperation to find answers in this poor girl’s disappearance. I have formed an opinion and feel fairly certain about what happened to her and who is responsible, but choose not to elaborate. I think so much misinformation and speculation being posted can lead some to confusion.

I think you have found the most reliable sighting of Ms Harrington and friends, at one point in the video, while following your instructions i could clearly see the 3 girls heads, two of which were blonde. The girl you thought was Morgan was wearing a black top too, that can also be seen towards the end, and that for me is confirmation indeed that it is them. Great work from you, you`re a star.

Secondly, if she does know something, she obviously has not shared that “something” with the proper authorities. How in the world do you sleep at night knowing some information you may have, even if it’s horrible information, could lead to finding Morgan —

O/T: another weird coincidence
Mass murderer in Appomatox Co., Va., brought down VSP helicopter by shooting its fuel tank. Helicoptor landed safely and there were no injuries. The *coincidental part* the pilot was Sgt. Don Childs — father of VT student Heidi Childs, who was murdered Aug. 29, 2009, in Jefferson National Forest.
This man killed two married couples (one was apparently his sister and bro-in-law), three teenagers (one was his niece?), and a 4-y.o.

PS — sorry — this is not a bash LE post — but — one of the problems w/ having LE that the public maybe feels is doing nothing to resolve this case — finding Morgan; don’t want to just call her a “case” — is that if people do know something or discover something, they may be hesitant to report it in light of so many people stating that the info they have given was never followed up on — so why report anything new ?
that’s why I wish the Harringtons would take some of the Metallica money — set up a “tip line” staffed by volunteers who are in a liason position w/ LE — it’s not going to happen, but I think it would lend credibility to the reporting process …

Jeanne & Others… Remember the comments/interviews from the lady who’s daughter and son-in-law I think it was who saw Morgan ‘fall’ to the floor down by the isles that lead out and behind the stage or something like that? In that reporting there was a comment them seeing Morgan earlier with her back to the stage, taking pictures of the area behind her and were concerned that she might fall. I have to wonder if Morgan was taking a photo of someone who was harassing her. This is a common technique that people use to scare possible BGs off, just as a female does when walking up to a stranger who looks safe, putting your arm through their’s and saying “Let’s go.” is used to get away from someone who is pestering or stalking them.
Perhaps Morgan was not sure that this person was actually a BG, but someone she recognized from living in the area and visiting the area, who had been a pest or worse, that she was trying to get away from without causing a scene or making accusations. It seems that LE has accepted that she had an injury that corroborated this report of her fall, and this may have been the reason she ended up outside, and was not acting her normal self, following along with perple she didn’t know, left her purse, and left the area walking, IN SPITE OF being cold, wet and injured. Scared people rarely act ‘normal’.
I think LE has had their sights on someone from early on, and for a variety of reasons would rather have this person come to them, rather than setup a ‘fight or flight’ situation, plus they want Morgan back as best they can.
Now about connecting those DOTS: We have seen DOTS from the very first moment we heard about Morgan being missing. 241 and the phrase related to those **-****-* “I love you 2 much, Forever, and 1 (once) more.” This obviously means something VERY important to the whole Harrington Family, but we have no idea why, and we don’t need to know, but therein may be something related to CONNECTING THE DOTS. IDK, but they are the only DOTS I’ve seen. OBVIOUSLY this investigation is being played out via subtle inference and in a way that it seems only LE, The Harringtons, Law Enforcement, and the person/people who know where Morgan is would know. Its more befuddling than a game of Clue!
I miss Observer’s perspective, as well as OYE’s.

Roageo, et al. — Re: your post #1753 — my apologies. My reference was not to the posters on this board, but to some of the people that I think have been identified and “examined” on this board. I think that those examinations have not revealed much, other than a few people on facebook that are not terribly sharp or articulate. Unfortunately, I was inarticulate myself in expressing that sentiment.
I have no doubt that the people on this board are caring and have never questioned it. I do question some of the theories posted over time and think that some go far astray from the facts that have been published. I have had occasion to miss a day or so and when I come back to this Board, I see it is running fast and furious with a certain line of thinking. When I scroll up, searching for the new information that underpins the new theory, I really don’t find much. While everyone on this board has the right to think out loud and express his or her mind, some of the postings, I feel, wander into the bizarre and are not all that fruitful. And don’t think that I am letting myself off the hook on this one: not so long ago, I read the rumor that involved “heroin” and took it and ran with it. It pains me to think that the Harringtons read that and that what I wrote contributed to their anguish.
B, what is FTLOG (response to bob-dog’s above post)? That’s a sad story down in Appomattox, isn’t it? Incredible too, how Sgt. Childs continues to go out there and risk his life for us every day, even after he lost his own baby girl.

Fletch,yes I am looking for confirmation she and her friends were there. I am looking for confirmation that what we have learned up to now is correct.
If Morgan and one of her friends is captured in either group tall blonde guy or tall short brown haired PDC in this video it shows Morgan wasnt irrational and they all didn’t stay in their assigned seats. If Morgan is one of the HBB she possibly could have got hurt,she possibly was intoxicated and she doesnt seem to be near her friends for LOG. LE said they found no footage of Morgan. If we here can, then maybe LE can enhance the footage and talk to the people in that particular section. So far people think she and her friends were together in sec 312 until after LOG if this is not true How can people be sure they saw her. Also, if nothing else our looking at this footage proves that there were MANY long haired blondes at the concert.How can LE be sure it was Morgan outside?

Some LOG answers — maybe — I asked my kid and his friend about LOG in the beginning of all of this — I’d heard of them living in Richmond, but they’re a metal band which is not my cup of tea — I thought they were just “local” — but my son’s friend said: They’re famous –
Then I was inquring about their rep for drug use, etc. — “They’re old” both responded — how old, I asked: They have to be in the mid-30′s.
So now we have the new definition of “old” —
but they went on to say they were all married and have kids. The same w/ Metallica — they’ve all gone thru rehab and have families of their own — no more drugging and drinking before concerts — in fact, on the way up to the concert the boys were saying some of the concerts were more fun when the lead singer was stoned —
he’s stone cold sober now — and the boys told me their wives go on tour w/ them and sometimes their children —

I can tell you there was a horrible music video of LOG — it’s on youtube if you want to look — parents think they’re booking a “Lamb” to come to their little child’s b-day party and the band pulls up in their tour bus — they open the bus door and all this “smoke” — supposed to be marijuana smoke — comes out — they’re stoned and horrible — the boys were cracking up — I kept saying: I fail to see the hummor —

I think these are parents who are distraught — it’s been 3 months — no Morgan, no news of Morgan — I went out to get the mail after work — beautiful words : ) — and a car was going a bit too fast and for some reason put on its brakes a bit passed me — I thought maybe they were braking for my missing cat — I don’t equate the cat to Morgan, of course, but I miss my cat — which makes me think of the hell these poor people are going thru and are, perhaps, clinging to any hope or theory that she is still alive —

wpg, thank you for reiterating an excellent point, and I can assure you I am also aware of LE’s careful use of semantics for legal and strategic purposes.
But. I was referring to one of your posts to redly (1725), in which you noted:

As I used the word “or” to make a clear deliniation between LE’s and Gil’s perspectives on the investigation (if that is indeed the case), I do not understand your comment. Nor do I think I have ever been “most unfair” or unfair at all, for that matter, to Gil Harrington. I take offence to your suggestion that such was my intention. We are not here to judge one another, and I would appreciate you refraining from doing so in the future.
But, I would be remiss if I did not point out two points of yours in your post that I agree with, wpg:

There were three references in that refrain that “struck a chord” (no pun intended) when I thought of the song back during the discussion of possibly coded language. First, the title, “Diamonds in the Rough”; then Jesus, the Lamb of God; and finally “It is enough.”
The song has three verses. It has been recorded by John Prine, among others. I just wonder whether it is known to the person or persons who was/ were making those references.

But if you want my opinion as to why LE is quiet . They have absolutely nothing to tell except what the public has already handed those still interested . To release anything else would open up the door for public outcry on how this case was handled . I feel the card being played by LE now is hope this blows over and life goes on as it is and will . The 90 day mark is the breaking point for public interest and the internet traffic pertaining to Morgan has nose dived over the last week .
I deeply feel for the Harrington’s , I wish their was more we could do .

The fact is, the public does not know the facts.
*We do not know if MH made it to/inside the concert
*We do not know which, if any, “eye-witness” accounts are factual
*We do not know if MH’s friends stayed inside the concert (other than, presumably the tickets were scanned – but we do not know that they stayed for any part of the concert).
*We do not know the nature of the relationship between MH and her friends and family.
*We do not know if friends and family have been forthcoming to LE
*We do not know if what LE has released so far is factual or if they are releasing misinformation for strategic reasons
There are a lot of theories/ideas being floated extrapolating on things we do not know as facts. We have the Harrington’s account of what MH was doing prior to leaving for the concert and their statement of what she planned to do the next day. We have the friends’ account of MH studying in the car on the way and then becoming “separated” from them while going to the bathroom at the concert. We have some “eye-witness” accounts. We do not know the degree of accuracy or truthfulness regarding any of these statements.
I am *not* inferring that the friends and family of MH have not been forthcoming – I am merely stating that we do not know as a *fact* whether they have been or not. Nor do we know as fact whether some or all of these eyewitness accounts were sightings of DS rather than MH. Therefore, as far as public knowledge is concerned, the official “timeline” and the account(s) of events leading up to MH’s disappearance don’t hold much water. (LE may know these things but we don’t)
The questions/concerns I keep coming back to are:
*Why did MH pack up (supposedly) 3 outfits (to show her mother) and go to stay at her parents’ house the night before the concert. I always found that odd given that she’d have such a long drive the next day and her parents’ house is backwards from the direction of the concert trip. (I do not have a link – but I believe I read this account early on, in a readthehook.com article). I have always wondered if there was some other purpose for this given that it seems so out of character for something a 20-year-old who has their own apartment would do.
*The friends’ account of MH becoming separated while going to the bathroom
*Why it was initially hidden that there even was a male driver, and why the male driver’s name (DC) took so long to be released, and why no official statement re: his whereabouts that evening (if only to clear him of any suspicion).
*The “coincidence” of not only DS resembling and being mistaken for MH that evening, but that her group had plans to meet up with MH’s group, and that (allegedly) the 2 groups (or members thereof) parked next to each other (not stating this as a fact, just reiterating what I have read here previously)
*Why DS’s group changed their post-concert plans and (again allegedly) went home to go to sleep after calling SS and being told “um we are missing someone”. To put a finer point on it – my interpretation of the purpose of that call was to arrange to meet up – not to call and say “change of plans, we are tired and going home”. The plan seemed to change and be contingent on DS’s group being “informed” someone was “missing”. My question is, why would that person who was “missing” have any bearing on DS’s group’s plans?
*MH’s parents being quick to defend the friends and try to assuage any public suspicion of the them. Unless they know the *who/why*, this makes no sense. These friends were the last people *known* to have been in the company of their daughter prior to her going missing. That combined with Blink’s outing of these same friends partying it up in front of the 241 sign a mere 2 weeks after their friend supposedly is missing from a concert they supposedly attended with her.
*Gil’s blogs often seem as if she is “communicating” to MH – as if saying “hey come home, we can work this out”. Also, the language that many of you have interpreted as a mother’s morbid contemplation of what may have happened to her daughter, I have wondered if it wasn’t designed more as a “guilt trip” so that if MH or “guilty party” was reading it she/he/they would realize the pain her parents are experiencing and do the right thing (as in come home, or fess up). This is *not* to imply that their pain is not real – a parent would experience emotional pain regardless, in any scenario involving their daughter’s whereabouts being unaccounted for.
Fletch, while I do think it’s fair for us to speculate and theorize here about what might have happened to Morgan, I completely agree with you that some of the conversation here is drifting towards the ridiculous.
Your former inquiries along with everyone else’s are and were completely fair, however. The Harrington’s hired a PR firm and started the Find Morgan site themselves. They have asked for the help from the public, and wisely so. That kind of speculation and inquiry was fair, as it might have shed some light on what happened that night.
I feel that the off topic, dreams, psychic visions and far out theories are counterproductive in the actual quest to help find Morgan, as they simply serve to derail and possibly confuse readers.

Saw the interview with Dr Harrington, and Gil. Again, so moving. I am so amzed at their composure, candidness, and their strength. WOW. I probably couldn’t make it through the interview with out breaking down. Their love for each other and Morgan is so deep. I teared up. AGAIN.
These people are so together, not allowing the pain to cause dysfunction and hatred. They are a pure class 1 act. It hurts to even watch them speak, and the words so painful to hear. I know now know why Morgan is so special. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
I feel like I’m beating a dead horse. Who parks in the RV lot? Who, at these concerts travels in RV’s? If that was MH in the videos of LOG performance, it looked like there was communication from the stage to MH. Wonder if she knows any of the LOG people? meet/ party in RV? Has it already been discussed and I missed it? Did anyone go to the LOG website and read the forums? I dunno. No comments?

Hi your first video is not the same group, they would be closer to the drum set in between 2 S guards in front of second mic stand. Good work, though, thanks. In your vid, Dee is standing next to tall Brown haired guy is that Dan again? Her BF is to her right wear did tan pants go? The sighting of tall blonde girl 4 guys couldn’t have been Dee there is too much footage of her inside the arena around that time. I havent looked at your other vids yet.
These videos tell me there is no possible way any of the witnesses can be 100% sure they saw Morgan. If she “could have dropped her necklace” What was the distinguishing thing witnesses have been discounted or proven by? What did she say to the BB players? LE must be basing the sightings on their accounts. Did she have a purse then?

Let’s just say that one of the girls suspected to be OYE didn’t post a fb status on the days she posted on here with the exception of 1 day, Jan.9. There was a morning fb update on the 9th and an evening update on the 9th. OYE’s Jan 9th post was 3 hours after the morning fb status and 6 hours before the evening status update. Coincidence? Maybe. *She does NOT post a status update everyday, but I find it weird that the days OYE posted on here just happened to be one of the days with no fb status*

So Observer, which is it? Isolated incident or something else? Dr. Harington has made his opinion clear. Can we construe your reply to redly as a change in your position?
Specifically, is the University utilizing LE’s statement (no evidence of a crime) to discharge its obligation to properly warn the University community pursuant to the Clery Act? Or, is the University taking the position that issuing a notification will somehow compromise its efforts to contain the situation?
I believe that the students at UVa are entitled to any details that will help protect them from a similar situation. See the TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN in Post 1013 above (Comment by smythe — January 14, 2010 @ 7:47 pm).
If the University has knowledge that Dr. Harrington is wrong, then it should let us know. If the University has no idea what happened to MH, than it owes the community any details that will help prevent a similar incident.
Frankly, I am disgusted with the University’s “Cleary” notifications (or lack thereof), and its apparent disregard for the safety of its own students.
Alexandra, please keep going with the LOG thing…I’m with you. I think it’s compeletely plausible Morgan knew someone from this band, or someone who works concerts for this band and/or others. She could have been meeting up with someone she knew from the internet or previous concerts and festivals. Someone else who had a music interest and connection. I think I’ve typed these exact same sentences before. The unicorn thing interests me, too.

I agree. Remember, The Harrington’s themselves did not get the car story until much later. LE even said in the beginning that Morgan’s car was not at the concert. No one has said how or why Morgan left the concert. Remember one of Morgan’s group immediately hired a lawyer. (very smart IMO) This means LE can not question them unless lawyer is present. All they can do is ask this person to come down and answer questions. Lawyer may say NO Way, unless you want to arrest my client I advise my client not to answer questions. Remember, at the very least, someone drove off in Morgan’s car without Morgan, this looks bad, even though innocent till proven guilty I would want to protect my kid too. Lawyer may say to everyone involved, media included,DO NOT mention my clients name I will hold you liable for any damage your admission causes to my client.

[One might only imagine how challenging that has been for me, given my obvious propensity toward lengthy discourse.] Too, this has been an especially busy time at work as our J-term students already arrived and we’re actively preparing for the start of our regular spring semester. In the midst of all of this, we received word late last week that one of our graduate students was a victim of the horrific earthquake in Haiti.
I have been otherwise quite preoccupied with certain research, but that must wait until a later post.
As alluded to in one of my much earlier posts, one can learn a great deal by mere reading coupled with keen observation. Lurking has its advantages, not the least of which is a new perspective gained from standing far afield the fray. It also helps one to avoid the syndrome of “group think”. I candidly fear that happens far too easily–and therefore far too often.
Just as “group think” is anathema to any investigation, discernment is key to any successful investigation.

Also Alexandra…it would make sense for Dr. Harrington to refer to a traveling member of a band or one who travels with bands as a predator. This person may have lured Morgan that night, or “stalked” and lured her ahead of time. And he means that the predator will do this again now that he’s gotten a taste for it.
This is my first time on this site and all I have to say is, “wow” to all of this. I guess I can actually say thanks to all those people that are trying to investigate me, because even though your trying to make me out to be a horrible person your still just trying to help bring Morgan home.

Your horse thought led me to find the basta pages, and although I do not think Gil is referring to Morgan being at Basta camp. I believe she could be referring to the darkness of addiction as the predator that is holding Morgan. I do not know, she is so well spoken and chooses her words carefully.
IMO Gil does this in the hopes Morgan will read them. Gil refers to her family with each word written. Remember she said fashion a bridge home to us? She could have written build, create, sculpt, she chose the word fashion. Alex is in fashion,is he not? Perhaps she is hoping against hope that Morgan chose to leave and will choose to contact Alex. I know I do not have to tell you this, but as I have been mostly unavailable and will be for another few, I would like to remind you and everyone else what an important crtical thinker you are. You frequently contribute research many never even see but directs a dialog before anyone even catches on in some cases.
The thing about critical thinking and analysis is that it has a ripple effect. It is essential to getting to answers. Whether one is “spot on” or way off ( which admittedly I am sometimes) it progresses the track regardless.
I have 2 team members whose cheese is on “she was never there.” While we do not agree on this case, there are many where we are completely in sync, but come at it differently. We are the sum of our parts here, and your a big one so fire up the wheel.

Google Lamb of God band website, and it comes up. They traveled alot but were local dates oct and nov. The RV lot, and the forum talking about rape, and weird unicorn sex thingies. Did MH have her passport with her?. I looked at some LOG videos Oct 18th in Charlotte NC to look for MH but didn’t finish
