Morgan Harrington Murder: Rumors Of A Suspects Arrest
Charlottesville, VA– This afternoon, originating on a VT
..There has been no arrest. It is an unfounded rumor and I have no idea how or where it started. I can only assume it stemmed from the fact that we completed our investigation of the crime scene at Anchorage Farm early this afternoon, I guess I will probably have to put out an email this afternoon..”
– Corrine Geller, PR Manager for VSP to Blink
As exclusively reported yesterday on blinkoncrime.com, it is expected that the and VSP upcoming conversations with those on the list with permission to hunt on Anchorage Farm, will propel the investigation into the murder of Morgan Harrington quickly.
However, Virginia State Police are not discussing whether or not they have a person of interest or suspect in this case.
There is however, unreleased new information and new evidence gleaned from the crime scene. VSP will not disclose what personal effects were found with Morgan’s remains at this time.
The viral arrest rumor was not the only odd occurrance today.
In what appears to be an unrelated coincidence, an explosive device was detinated on the train tracks close to James Madison University this morning. A nearby dorm has been evacuated in connection with materials found at the scene, and a criminal investigation has been launched by the ATF.
JMU is the school several of Morgan’s friends attend, and from where the group departed to attend the Metallica Concert that fateful night of October 17, 2009.

I am starting to lean heavy toward the friend of a friend. If there were at least 2 groups [I am sure many many more]of connected friends traveling to the concert, a friend of M’s XBF could have had crush on her for a few years. He would know by Facebook, Myspace and chats the innerworkings of M.
Not uncommon for one to offer simpathy only to gain trust. This friend would know the info to drop to make her upset during the concert. He would pick the time when she was easiest to be influenced.
He could also send a fake text message and get her to go outside. Not that she would normally ride with this person, under these conditions she would take a ride with this familar face.
This is why I feel that this is so possible.
1] motive , as sick as it sounds sex and or his idea of love
2] oportunity, the first step to get her outside.
3] once she refused him, he was not a stranger that could rape and leave. She knew him. She must be disposed of.
4] as a friend of friends, and perhaps local or one time student, in hast he would know something of the farm.
5] Drugs other influence would have been controled by his access to her by way of mutual friends.
Quick return to make the alabi, not going back inside but showing up at the car with a tale of someone backstage or other reason to explain why he may or may not have been missed. He would not tell this inless someone pressed him.
Allows for possibility to drop any thing missed during disposal of body. Not that would be intended, but maybe he did not notice ogjects until he returned.
He would be question early on, barring him from going back to the body.
Could explain Grand Ma, she could possibly have left walking and he followed her in SUV or Van.
Believe me secret love or sicko thoughts do occur. If boy friend was tall and a jock, inferrior comlex can lead to such events.
It’s Monday Blink, great day for catching that big fish!
Interesting article:
Testerman said she is particularly feeling the loss. She and Harrington were part of a close-knit group of girlfriends who called themselves “The Nine.” Some of the girls even got the number nine tattooed on their bodies as a symbol of their friendship when they all went off to college. Now they are eight.
. . .
While Testerman and Harrington’s parents believe that she was murdered, the Virginia State Police department has not yet officially classified her case as a homicide investigation. The cause of death has not yet been determined, according to Corrine Geller, a spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police. No one has been named a person of interest or a suspect in Testerman’s case either.
. . .
Sarah Snead, who had accompanied Harrington and another friend to the concert, told WSLS in Raonake that she had been the one to receive the phone call telling them that she was stuck outside the arena.
“[She said] don’t worry, I’ll find a way home,” said Snead.
Surveillance cameras at the concert caught Harrington getting turned away from several entrances as she tried to return to the conert. Later, witnesses told police they saw someone matching her description in a nearby grassy parking lot, and then walking on an adjacent road.

1. Read that article. It says “Testermans case” instead of Morgans. Ugh.
2. SS forgot the part about hitchhiking.
WTH?

My Dearest Blink,
Please stay safe, dry and warm. I hope you are feeling better. The posters here have done an excellent job of putting pieces of the puzzle together..and once again now we wait for an arrest.
I am so happy that Morgan has been found and she will be returned to loving arms of her family so she can be grieved properly and laid to rest. Once again the world has been robbed of a beautiful, intelligent person who I believe would surely have made a difference in the lives of the young people she was aspiring to someday teach.
To the Harington’s and her friends my heartfelt condolences…peace at knowing you will finally lay your sweet Morgan to rest.
As far as whom is responsible for this act of violence..I am still in the camp of someone known to her. I think this was purposely planned, and I think this person has been following her every move.
I think they had a messy relationship in the past and Morgan ended it, not the other way around.
I think he made the choice of this time and place to separate her from her friends because it was the most public and crowded. She shared an apartment with a friend. Too hard to try the apartment route..he would have to control at least the friend and anyone else there. No indeed..he set out with this end in mind. If he couldn’t have her and control her..he wanted to be sure no one else could either. He knew she would be there and he knew this was the perfect time and place…there is a certain anonymity that goes along with a huge concert venue..as we have witnessed so far.
Peace my friend and stay well.
Hugs
DD
Gypsy my dear, dear friend. Lovely to see you, have missed you but I know you have your hands full:)
Not surprisingly, we agree. I cannot think of a case where I have tried to debunk myself so often and do not seem to be able to. That said, I really think Morgan made her presence known.

In re Skyler’s earlier post: “I can only say thank God I didn’t have friends like that in college, or now.”
I am happy I don’t have those kinds of friends too, but I want to share that I actually had the misfortune of briefly hanging around some girls like this in highschool who would have left me for dead if I got locked out of a concert in the cold or would have let another “friend” wander off if she had too much to drink. In fact, they seemed to relish the drama of one of their posse getting too drunk to handle herself and making a fool of herself, doing things she regreted, etc. They were envious, maliscious people who didn’t know how to love or respect others or themselves. Just wanted to chime in that when people say they don’t understant the actions of the friends, I think I do understand them. They are “mean girls” who don’t know what it is to be a friend. And poor Morgan had no support. Just one of them stepping up to support her when she texted them for help would have saved her life. There is no excuse.
There is no concert important enough to me (not even when I was a teen or twenty-something) that would have taken precedent over a friend who got locked out of the venue. Witnesses who didn’t know Morgan at all were concerned about her. Her friends are not legally culpable for thier cold-heartedness, but karma is a bitch and in my opinion, their karma-dial is spinning wildly.
fish,
Had a family emergency in the middle of the night and came home to read your words. Your support and your timing could not have come at a better moment for me.
xoxo’s to you, fish,

Here’s a thought, what if he was the one saying “Let’s go” as in “Let’s go, NOW!”

Is it possible the known offender and the ex boyfriend are the same person?
Answer: yes
—
Wow. If so, does said SO’s date of offense coincide with Morgan’s transfer to a new high school?
Comment by Frank Speaker — January 31, 2010 @ 10:10 pm “Wanting back in nullifies her reason for going out” . Yes! Wow you just stated in 10 words or less what I have been trying to mentally articulate to myself for days.
We can’t try to make evidence fit our theories; theories should evolve from evidence. If we, perhaps mistakenly, assume BG was known to Morgan and had to be back at the arena after committing the crime, then we try to cram all the actual evidence into that theory, and it doesn’t fit the time frame. On the other hand if we drop all our assumptions and just look at the extremely few facts of evidence, it seems to me that this perp is a predator who went where the “action” was that night and grabbed a vulnerable person and took her to a place he knew he could keep and kill her/kill and keep her. He may have killed her quickly, and not placed her on Anchorage Farm until daybreak or even days later.
Comment by J2K — January 31, 2010 @ 11:51 pm: “what are the odds that within the mere 10 minutes (according to the timeline) she was allegedly alone – in the RV lot and walking along Copeley Road – a stranger with ill designs was driving by the campus, saw her, lured her to his vehicle and convinced her (in her altered state) that he would give her a ride home, before absconding with her down 29, where he then turned into Mr. Hyde? ” Playing Devil’s Advocate … Why does he have to abscond down 29 with her in that 10 minutes? He could have taken her anywhere. Just because she was last seen on the Copeley Road bridge doesn’t mean she stayed on that trajectory. She could have turned around and walked back towards the rv lot in a minute. If Morgan’s card was used near 9:30, someone could have picked up Morgan’s bag after she dropped it and used the card (at the 7-11?) if it was a debit card and they used it as Credit. They wouldn’t need an I.D. if the clerk was like 90% of them and didn’t ask for it. They could have just dumped the purse back in the lot after they either failed to use the card or used it and got their beer and cigarettes. The back of the RV lot is wooded and dark. He could have disabled her there and killed her any time. A predator who has developed skills in stalking, abducting and harming would be better able to abduct her unnoticed than someone she had been arguing with.
All I can say about the farm not being searched is that it took me and the 9 people I searched with 2 hours to search 2 acres. The whole city of Charlottesville would have to come out and search an area that encompassed the distance between JPJ and Anchorage Farm. I think the reason we searched the areas we DID search were (a) not given to us and (b) probably the most likely places evidence would be found in a small radius outward from the JPJ, i.e., places off the side of the road where evidence or a person could be accidentally dropped or quickly placed without detection. I am not sure that ANY of the places that have been searched outside of the immediate search around JPJ and the recent search off 64 have been because of any specific information related to the case.
Comment by mrut — February 1, 2010 @ 2:20 am “Here’s another possibility. If the killer knew the area and knew that he wanted to go specifically to Blandemar Farms (and Blandemar Farm Dr.), the faster route to take is not 29S, but I-64 to 637 to 708. So all of our scrutiny of 29S may be for naught.” Way to go at 2:30 am.
Also, I appreciate the info on the open carry gun laws, but none of that precludes someone carryin a gun in an illegal fashion, which unfortunately happens alot in the US.
Question: Do FBI only lead an investigation when the crime is known to cross state lines? Would FBI’s role in this case only be to lend technical resources?
#86i, mrut:
Thank-you for the information on HWY 29 and the various possible entries to the scene of discovery. I stand corrected. I believe you and I agree that the location of the body is one that seems to point to someone familiar with the area? Or perhaps better said “the scene of discovery is a rather unlikely endpoint for someone completely unfamiliar with the area”?
Very insightful and intelligent comments from the locals posting here. You all make Virginia look good in spite of this sad chapter. Might I also say that LE and UVA officials have responded in a reasonable manner IMO in this matter – maybe not always in the best way, but difficult situations often preclude the best decisions as the friends of this poor young woman have discovered.
Oops Blink sorry if I wasn’t supposed to post until you come back. Should have refreshed after returnin to my ‘puter.

OK. I need some remote assitance here. I have a MAC. I know how to set the feed, it appears to re format the page, but what is the next step to be able to search within the site?
Anyone?
Morgan’s actions that night, notwithstanding “why” she left the arena (I’ll never figure that out), is starting to make sense in that I can see why she headed to the Copley Road bridge. It was clear she was seeking a ride back to Blacksburg. This is the conclusion I’ve come to. Why else would she head to that direction? She was hoping she could catch a ride which would take her out to Rt 250 then 29. Her BIG mistake was hitchhiking and she likely entered the wrong car.
If someone she knew, meaning someone her friends and parents were aware of, hurt her, then I think this mystery would have been solved and someone would have been arrested by now. Think about it. After interviewing people close to the victim, LE usually can narrow in on a few people based on conversations and suspicions if the perp is one of them. However, if this was a complete stranger, then the case becomes a lot more difficult to solve. That’s why DNA and COD and more witnesses or possible acquaintances of the perp are now critical to this case.
Blink writes and asks:
Just a thought my good friend- Nobody was more surprised than LE that Morgan was found where she was. Lt. Rader specifically said they never searched that area because nothing led them there.
What does that mean to everyone?
B
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To me, JMHO, it means that LE probably thought that Morgan Harrington never made it to the concert. Therefore, they never thought she’d be found in Charlottseville.~Moonchime
I’ve been reading this site and appreciate the strong minds trying to solve it. Unless blink has info to support the ex, I really think the BG is a random psychopath. I wouldn’t think he could go back and blend in with a group after killing Morgan (remember Ted Bundy needed to sleep a lot afterward). There are plenty of examples of random guys like the BG who abducted Kristi Cornwell in Ga on a deserted road and the one who cruised a college town and abducted/murdered Briana Dennison. I agree with Clint van Zandt that this was being in the wrong place at the wrong time and the perp is a random BG cruising an event at a college town for prey. By hiding the body for three months, I don’t think this was his first time at the rodeo, either.
Yikes! RNMom, Can you please explain?
I’m baffled by your comment…??
Sending Hugs back to you!
Glad to see you are still among us :0)
@just desserts: I think I understand what you’re saying? My daughter had a freak for an ex boyfriend. He was forever playing mind games with her to find out if she was cheating. One thing he liked to do is say “so and so saw you at the movies with X” knowing full well that no one had told him such a thing, but it was all to make her THINK that someone had ratted her out to him on something and to hopefully elicit a “confession” from her if there was anything going on behind his back. (there never was, but for he was always suspicious)
I can, therefore, full well see an ex boyfriend continuing a dialogue with morgan in which perhaps she tries to be kind in “letting him down” nicely, tells him she still cares about him etc. denies any new love. Ex boyfriend hopes this will grow into a return of the previous relationship, but senses she is moving on. Because he doesn’t know FOR SURE what is going on and is highly suspicious, he could have set up a “sting” where MH believes she will be meeting a new love interest at the concert, either through fake facebook account, texts from an unknown phone number, etc. New love says “meet me in the parking lot”. MH kiss goodbye to girlfriend and she exits only to find out New Love is actually Old Love and the gig is up. She gets angry, tries to get back in, argues with the ex (Granny’s account would make sense here) and you go from there. . . .
PS: we found out later my daughters ex was a drug user so might explain some of the paranoia, but not the mind games.
gifter3….RNMom is responding to Blink’s question:
Blink writes and asks:
I can tell you I want the person responsible for my daughter’s death brought to justice. My wife believes he will be punished for what he did by a higher power. We both want this person off the streets so that no one else will be hurt.
Dr. Harrington,
As you already know, you have my, My team’s, and all of the contributors to blinkoncrime supporting you in both you and Gil’s wishes for Morgans murderer. I am confident that both will be in the future of this animal.
I’m still of the mind that the BG is someone known to Morgan either personally, indirectly through a friend, or via the internet. However, I am not convinced of when he entered the timeline of events on October 17. Up to this point, all the events have naturally centered around Morgan and her actions and interactions. Conclusions and speculations have attempted, with a number of seemingly viable scenarios, to explain and include or exclude the various tidbits of information available to the public. But, dependent on when the BG appears and when his trajectory intersects with Morgan’s, some of these important details may or may not be explained. If the BG is not directly involved in a specific action, it is not pertinent to the prosecution of this individual or holds no evidentiary value, we the public may never know why some of the events of the evening occurred.
For example, if the report of her falling in the arena, had nothing to do with why she left or how the BG came in contact with Morgan, it may never be addressed. In the end, kissing her friend goodbye, taking photos in the arena, contents of phone conversations and texts,and her conversation with the BB players may not be pertinent to the prosecution but they all serve to paint the picture of a friendly, lovely young woman interested in life and filled with potential. This is the picture I will remember.
Kudos to all the great thinkers and researchers found here. I marvel at your abilities and thank you for providing those of us who merely lurk a wealth of information. You have kept my wheel spinning and my thinking goblet busy.
Ummm have I missed something? When was this announced?????
From the abc news article upthread:
“Surveillance cameras at the concert caught Harrington getting turned away from several entrances as she tried to return to the conert. Later, witnesses told police they saw someone matching her description in a nearby grassy parking lot, and then walking on an adjacent road.”
My wheels keep turning but my cheese has not moved.
Going over everything we know about this case, without yet knowing a cod, I can’t get beyond the RV lot. She spent a good ten minutes there
talking to confirmed witnesses. Her friends were not expecting her to return,they took her car for crying out loud!! We have her card used around the time she disappeared. Her phone was recovered sans battery, but the back was on? That does not sound like it just fell out. Her camera and necklace, both very personal items are now missing.
It’s a cold rainy night at the JPG arena, I don’t buy for a second that the BB players would leave her there without offering a ride, or letting her “hang out” in their car until the concert was over, or let her hitchhike alone on Copely bridge. So if the BB players are innocent, they can “talk if they want to”, why haven’t they?, unless of course they too are covering up for someone, someone both MH and the BB players knew. Perhaps this is also why a black Pantera tshirt suddenly shows up on 15th street? I simply can’t believe this was a stranger abduction. It is too planned out,down to the placement of dear Morgan’s body, the excess nitrate found at the scene.
I searched Morgan’s FB friends list. She had 29 friends that attended UVA. if we use the six degrees of separation, if a person is one step away from each person they know and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the people they know, then everyone is at most six steps away from any other person on Earth.
Why can’t we find one person that know something!?
There are several highway web-cams located in Charlottesville. I believe Trafficland is in Virginia and since “9-11″ have become affiliated with CNN…therefore, believe their credibility. I have visited this site and zoomed in on the Charlottesville map, but since I am not from that area, have no way of knowing if the cams are facing the correct direction (assuming BG is immediately leaving IVY Road via 250/29.)
http://www.trafficland.com/city/CHO/index.html
1. Rt. 29 @ Rte 250
2. Rt 29 @ Fontaine
3. I-64 @ US 29 Exit 118
I am most interested in the 3 web-cam locations above (but again, not being from that area, I can’t tell if the cams even would be facing the correct direction)Blink, do you know if LE or any other agency involved in Morgan’s case has been in contact with Trafficland to see if web-cam tapes are saved from Oct. 17? Are there even “tapes” to be saved in web-cams?
I do, yes.
B
Am I right???? Do I get cheese???? Yes????
In regards to Sherlock’s post (#863) about the KOA Campground. Great info. Interesting to note that the park is open March 12-Nov. 15 and has mostly RV spaces. If sweet Morgan was taken from the RV lot, the person who took her might have been staying at the lot. Wonder if there is any way to check registration info there or if LE is already on it.
Mostly I’m just puzzled, and still tending to think it’s a stranger who took her.
Do others find yourselves bursting into tears at odd moments at the tragedy of it all? Gil’s last blog entry has especially torn me apart.
B, re: “Just a thought my good friend- Nobody was more surprised than LE that Morgan was found where she was. Lt. Rader specifically said they never searched that area because nothing led them there.
What does that mean to everyone?
B”
I dunno, call me Simpleton, but to me it means LE thought BG was heading west. I think it’s what most of us thought, too. Back to H’burg, B’burg, or the ‘Noke, “from whence they came.” I am thinking this is someone with strong ties in that direction and–surprise, surprise–to Albemarle County, too.
Has anyone examined the immediate environs of the recovery site for signs of ritualistic activity? Ritual detritus is not something always picked up by an untrained eye. I am not persuaded the answer lies in the nabes, but I would expect to see plenty of Crown Vics and Tahoes (or whatever) canvassing those homes with offers of polygraphs and focusing on the declinations.
Respectfully, where is this coming from?
B
I’ve been observing only since this case first began. I just wanted to comment today in regards to the ones wondering why Mr. Bass would be out tending the farm with no cell phone. Mr. Bass is around the same age as my uncle and about 10 years older than my dad…folks from that generation do not feel the need to take a cell phone with them every time they leave the house. My dad is out on his tractor on a regular basis and never carries his cell phone. Secondly, I drive by this farm everyday to and from work and that area of 29 is a dead zone for cell service. My phone always loses service as soon as I am approaching AF Road and remains that way for about 1/2-1 mile.
I am just praying Morgan’s murderer is caught soon. I cannot quit thinking of her, dreaming about this and worrying that he will do something else before caught. And I, too, heard the rumor of someone in the Crozet area being saught out on Friday (a former farm hand, so i heard). I also continue to pray for the healing and peace of the Harrington family.
Chad, I am so glad that your father is doing better and pray that everything for him just keeps improving.
About Lt. Rader’s remark about not searching Anchorage farm because there was no reason to: I have been frustrated the entire time that Morgan was missing because until the recent involvement of the CUE group, it seemed to me that LE wasn’t interested in searching much of anywhere. I know there were some early searches in Charlottesville, but after that not much of anything. I still don’t understand why one of the well-known national search groups were not called in one or two weeks after she disappeared.
I know the Harringtons are incredibly gracious and really tried to give LE the latitude to conduct the case the LE way (whatever that is), but I don’t think I could have been so patient. I still wonder if LE, up until last Tuesday, didn’t just expect Morgan to reappear, unharmed and somewhat embarrassed. I hope that LE has a strong case against their unsub POI, because if not, they are remiss in not warning the Cville community that an unknown predator took Morgan.
I also think that LE has attempted to blame Mogran for what happened, ie: she went outside, she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, she kept dropping her purse, she didn’t want help from her friends, she was hitchhiking, etc., and that just enrages me.
Morgan’s ex boyfriend, whoever he is, from High School, is a registered sex offender, same as juvenile SO (?) and he stalked her to the concert, and got her to come outside, Granny saw them and heard a smack and saw them in an arm lock. Granny said they both walked away from each other and then he turned around and came back to her…..and then?
Where’s Granny? She was afraid to give her name
Alexandra, that is not accurate, he is not a RSO.
B
We can look at where the previous police-led searches were and figure out why Lt. Rader was surprised to have Morgan’s body show up south of town. All searches were in areas that are directly off I-64 both east and west of Charlottesville. Their leads must have strongly suggested that the perp took this highway.
But as George points out upthread, it’s possible to get to Blandemar from I-64.
“It is possible to get to the Green Barn location in the Brandemar area without going on Route 29 or Red Hill Road. From I-64 take exit 114 (County Road 637) to Taylor’s Gap Road and then a left on Brandemar Drive…It is curious that on I-64 going west the next exit after 114 is Crozet at exit 107.” (George @ 9:45 am)
Trying to think outside the box/bun/envelope … Perhaps a female was involved in MH’s disaperance or abduction. I have only seen references to “he” so far. Just a thought, but who would MH feel “safe” with getting into a stanger’s car? Perhaps a female and a male or males were working in tandem. I guess the motive was prolly not robbery as her purse was later found (assuming she had it upon entry). Of course, her necklace was not found unless vsp is keeping that tidbit a secret.
Not that a female driver or even a passenger makes things any easier to analyze. Are there any reports that she had encounters outside jpj with a female or female/male couple?
I am going to go out on a short limb here and suggest that MH did not go with anyone or group for the purpose of partying. It appears as though she was in an undestandably surly mood after being denied readmission to jpj.
Maybe if we start looking at some potential female pois, perhaps some that may live in the area where she was found or even the location of her t-shirt and try to match some up with potential boyfriends it may be productive.
Just trying to think outside the box a bit.
and for those who say;he would have easier access at her apt.,well the concert might have a point of contention between them.
I always hesitate to contribute in this form, however, when I read the above post by susanm, my gut sank, and I thought it a possibility that a scenario such as this could be a reality.
When I was 18, my friends and I purchased tickets to a Beastie Boys concert in Miami. When my boyfriend found out about it, he was livid! So much so, that it scared me tremendously. A side I had not known with him. He searched my purse, my person, everywhere to locate my ticket and keep me from going. I still chose to go and so did he. He never located me at the concert, but I did see him sitting well below where my friends and I were seated. The siting took much of the joy out of the concert, as anytime he appeared to be searching, I’d have to duck out of site. After (not that same evening) the concert, I started to deal with jealousy issues from him, and decided to go my separate way when he left his hand imprint in my back. It wasn’t easy! His father was a seasoned police officer and my mom still tells me that she thought he (my boyfriend) was one of the nicest guys I dated (star football player, nice family, boy next door).
If there was a prior issue similar to mine with dear Morgan, I can definitely believe a situation like this could have occurred. Just because someone has an alibi, doesn’t mean they are innocent! God Bless.
Kelly, that is such an important story you shared- I believe it is possible elements of what happened to you, happened to Morgan. Im so glad you left that behind, alot of women do not.
starbucks, thank you for that link.
Blink, I agree very callous reporting “Testermans case”?! This is the first time I have seen that any cameras caught any images of Morgan,let alone several cameras, and several attempts at reentry.
I have always thought that there must be some footage of Morgan, but I am having a hard time trusting this article. Is it me or is it questionable?
The world has lost its best hugger. The incomparable Morgan Dana Harrington was torn from us on October 17, 2009.
Morgan, age 20, was a shiny, loving, beautiful original. She was very much loved by her family, her friends, and her community, which has now expanded to include much of the world. We cherish the time we had with Morgan and are grateful for the breadth and variety of experiences we were able to share in her tragically abbreviated life.
Morgan was born on July 24, 1989 in Charlottesville, Virginia and killed there in October 2009. She was an avid music fan, a champion of children’s rights, and planned a career in education.
To recognize some of Morgan’s passions we ask that, in lieu of flowers, gifts to honor Morgan’s memory be made to the Morgan Dana Harrington Memorial Scholarship at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine or to OMNI – Orphan Medical Network International, an organization that provides medical care in Africa. Scholarship donations may be mailed to: Virginia Tech, Attn: Gift Accounting, University Development (0336), Blacksburg, VA 24061, and OMNI donations to 6930 Empire Lane, Roanoke, VA 24018.
Our reconfigured family, Dan, Gil and Alex plan on honoring Morgan with a Mass on February 5, 2010 at 3:30 PM at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Roanoke, Virginia followed by a reception to celebrate Morgan’s life at the Hotel Roanoke.
We are grief stricken by her death but also lifted by the knowledge that Morgan Dana Harrington was precious to so many and will not be forgotten. She mattered, to us all.
I certainly hope that this will be televised so remote viewers can participate in the mass, and pay their respects.
the ex BF is the most simple answer
JustDesserts, #837 I too, am in awe at your hard work. I have to say, I must think upon all of your research before commenting.
Mary,commented earlier “Anybody else want me to look for something? I’m a genealogy researcher so I enjoy it…do you mind me helping wpgmouse? You’re the greatest at it…”
Perhaps she can answer the questions regarding Paul G. Harrington and Gilbert M Cassagne.
As you wrote in a later post, you think answering these questions will once and for all eliminate this train of thought. I agree, it is important to move forward and away. I hope if no one answers your question here, It has been looked into by LE. After all, isn’t one of the first questions asked in this type of case, “Do you have any enemies and would they want to harm you or yours?” Next being did Morgan have any x boyfriends or enemies that would want to harm her?
Mouse, I hope you are doing okay. I miss you and we all miss your research skills.
Chad, glad to hear your father is doing better.
Ragdoll, glad you are here.
Fletch, glad to see you checked in.
hummingbird, glad to hear from you, VA does sound beautiful.
Lol, too late On a lighter note, I did climb a tree today for the first time in a few.
Rabbit19, thinking of you hope you are okay.
Blink, don’t freeze off anything too important. Stay warm. I Look forward to hearing the radio show.
Redly,
I am certainly not criticising LE at all Redly. I simply just asked Observer and Cooper, since it is a stat that victims are usually found within 20 miles, It appears that she was found less than 10 miles from the arena, and LE had so much community support and volunteers that people probably would have been willing to do search nd or more searches. Perhaps CUE had that area on their radar for futre searches. I was questioning Observer and Cooper to get their thoughts since they are both retired LE. LOL. Math was never my strong suits.
On another note, here is an article posted today on another forum that states they DO have Morgan on survillence camera attempting to re enter mulitple times.
This qualifies that they do have evidence that she indeed was there that night.
I know there was somes peculation and doubt that Morgan never attending the concert by a few.
What Happened to Morgan Harrington After the Metallica Concert?
Few details have emerged about the night she went missing. Harrington had gone to a Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville when she got separated from her friends, who believe she stepped outside for a smoke.
Harrington, who was wearing a black mini skirt, black tights and black boots as well as a black t-shirt with “Pantera” written on the front in tan letters, called her friends on a cell phone to say she was not allowed back inside.
Sarah Snead, who had accompanied Harrington and another friend to the concert, told WSLS in Raonake that she had been the one to receive the phone call telling them that she was stuck outside the arena.
“[She said] don’t worry, I’ll find a way home,” said Snead.
Surveillance cameras at the concert caught Harrington getting turned away from several entrances as she tried to return to the conert. Later, witnesses told police they saw someone matching her description in a nearby grassy parking lot, and then walking on an adjacent road.
The morning after the concert, Harrington’s purse and cell phone were found in that grassy field and later, her parents Dan and Gil Harrington, called police to report her missing.
Up until the day authorities received a call from an area farmer saying that he’d found remains on his property, Harrington’s parents had held out hope for their daughter. The body was found about 10 miles from the concert site.
On a blog dedicated to finding their daughter, Dan Harrington wrote on Jan. 24, “3 months! Despite the length of time Morgan has been gone I remain hopeful. Part of me is waiting to be surprised. Waiting for God to pull the rabbit out of the hat and bring Morgan home.”
Now Dan Harrington is speculating on who took his daughter. He told NBC’s “Today Show” last week that his daughter’s killer must have been from around Charlottesville.
“There is absolutely no way that a stranger to the area would know [the local roads and the farm],” said Dan Harrington. “It is someone who lives in the Charlottesville area.”
I gotta say, I am going to need to see a source for that surveillance data, since it directly conflicts with statements released previously by le.
Good Lord ! I’ll never catch up — ha — poor Blink having to moderate —
I’ve been killer busy at work today — any news from the ME office ? There was nothing on the local news at lunch
What are your thoughts on GRH? Could his firearm charge be the firearm used on MH?
Memorial mass set for Morgan Harrington
One week after Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington’s remains were found near Charlottesville, UVa has a message for its students, be careful.
A letter went out to the entire student body reminding them that college students are especially vulnerable and telling them not to walk alone or get into a car with anyone they don’t know.
Harrington’s remains were found at an Albemarle County farm last week, a cause of death and time of death is still being determined.
A memorial mass is set for Friday at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Roanoke at 3:30 p.m.
A reception to celebrate Morgan’s life will be held afterward at the Hotel Roanoke.
Her father told News7′s Jean Jadhon they’ll never be able to have a wedding reception or graduation reception for their daughter, so they are holding this reception to celebrate her life.
@ #707, wow2′s retrieved link to the early November commentary on the case by “Want to Be Profiler: I was active then on the Help Find Morgan site, and recall a general reaction of “Whoa! this guy is WAY too specific” about things that had not been discussed publicly to that point. Yeah, a reaction like that expressed by “A Tad Freaked Out” spoke for several of us, who believed that whoever “Want to Be” was should have the attention of LE.
As close as his “prophecy” has come to what’s been discovered so far, I wonder if a little chat would be helpful.
On Sunday, the mother of Morgan Harrington, 20, wrote on the Find Morgan Web site that her family had reclaimed the Virginia Tech student’s remains.
“…we drove… to reclaim the skeletonized remains of our precious daughter…,” wrote Gil Harrington. “We tried to prepare ourselves… but the reality of it is sharp and disorienting. How could someone have erased so much of what Morgan was and reduced her to a jumbled heap of bones? What a waste, what a desecration, a gross injustice.”
curious…can someone tell me how familiar was Morgan with this area that the concert venue was??
