Morgan Harrington Murder: Picture of Morgans Boot Released

Posted by BOC Staff | Alex Harrington,Anchorage Farm,Dan Harrington,Gil Harrington,Morgan Harrington | Thursday 1 April 2010 1:01 pm

Charlottesville, VA– Morgan Harringtons killers have not been apprehended.

Morgan was brutally slain, presumably, the evening of October 17th, 2009 after she went missing from the John Paul Jones Arena, located on the grounds of The University of Virginia. Her remains were recovered on January 26th, 2010 on the grounds of Anchorage Farm in Charlottesville, VA.

There have been countless witness accounts and reported sightings of Morgan since she vanished from JPJ, most of which, have been prefaced by stating “ or a person matching Morgan’s description”, so we are truly left to sift through what is accurate, and what is a well intentioned bystander.

One of the most conflicting item descriptions, is that of the boots she was wearing that fateful evening.

Below is a picture of the boot Morgan was wearing the evening of October 17, 2009, as confirmed by Morgan’s Mother Gil Harrington, to be “spot on”.

MorgBoot Boc

As you can see, it has no laces, and a cuff of approximately 3” that can be worn EITHER at the knee, or above, as reported by the witness who believes she saw Morgan walking away from JPJ with 4 men young men dressed in black, and again in the lot adjacent to Uhall.

Additionally confirmed to blinkoncrime.com, Morgan was wearing “footless” tights or leggings, which would require additional socks.

Morgan was known for the very distinctive socks she wore under these boots.

There is currently a $150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction for anyone responsible for the death of Morgan Harrington.

Sky, in support of the Harringtons, and of your kind and thoughtful gesture from which “Morgan’s Rocks” began, I will be sending a small rock to Charlottesville from my home in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The only time I have seen a description of the boots as being low-heeled, lace-up was on this site from the thread “Morgan Harrington Murder:Virginia State Police News Conference Today

“Morgan’s boots were lace up front with a chunky low heel as per her Mother. Think a femme version of Doc Martin’s.”

This is an excerpt of comments made by Blink to J2K on 2/13. I don’t know whether or not other comments preceded the above on the thread. After the above comment from Blink, the same thread has additional discussions from posters about the boots being lace up rather than high heeled. I have to wonder, as I think someone else has asked, were the lace up boots what Morgan showed her mother, then she decided to wear a different pair to the concert? Until the description in the February thread, I think it had generally been assumed that Morgan wore boots more like what is pictured here. IMO, what is pictured here seems more in keeping with the look she would have wanted to achieve on that night, fun loving, adult and just a little sexy (not a criticism, what young lady going to a special event doesn’t want to look sexy.) There had been at least one comment about how difficult it would have been to walk through the parking lots in high-heeled books if she was inebriated.

Even if LE knew the type of boots she wore which would seem reasonable from interviews, I can see why they wouldn’t have disputed the lace up description. There would have been a very limited number of people who would have known the description was incorrect, the friends, the few people who might have actually seen or talked to Morgan at the arena and in the parking lots, and more importantly the person(s) responsible for her disappearance and death. It’s an old saying but often true “loose lips sink ships.”

I have stated a few times I cannot remember the origin of the misinfo on the boots. But I can tell you when I sent a few pics of the original description, I got an immediate no and Gil described the correct boots perfectly, my next researched pic was 100% spot on. That simple.

I am certain at the time LE was looking at any female black boots and the possibility existed that they were not 100% certain as theoretically, they may not have any images of her boot per se.

Not saying this is not an important detail, but as they held the necklace for 30 days for “investigative reasons”, I think there were bigger indicators at play, jmho.

I was looking at his utube channel last night. He had 3 friends, WT that we’ve discussed here and another the VSP, so at least they are aware. Creepy creepy person…

  4. MsL says:

Oops, those high-heeled books are really hard to walk in. Obviously, I meant to write high-heeled boots.

I just want to add, you don’t have to be 20 something to want to look sexy at special events. With a husband in tow and a couple of kids at home, I still have what I think of as my sexy shoes and outfits for parties and concerts. We’re also huge NASCAR fans, so we call race trips our “redneck” weekends ala our favorite racer shirts and hats, even for the kiddies. No offense with the redneck description just our fun way of describing something we really enjoy. That’s one reason I don’t have such a hard time believing that the Richmond concert-goer would have seen 4 young men dressed all in black. The first place my husband and his friends head at concerts and races are the souvenir tables and trailers. If they find a t-shirt they really like, off comes the old and on goes the new. Does seem odd though, that if they were there for Metallica, they would have been outside the arena before they took the stage. Could be that they found the crowd a bit lame and decided to look for something more exciting. Charlottesville fans are known for “sitting on their hands” for sporting events and concerts, meaning it takes a good while for them to really get into the events.

That Kevin poster covered every theory discussed here. He started out like he had a vision but at the end he was just spouting out theories. He’s thrown out almost every possible scenario so now if and when the truth comes out he can say his “vision” was correct. Pretty sad, once again people forget it’s all about justice for Morgan and not about who will be right in the end!

    Blink-

I was kind of surprise to read that you think the the murder or murder’s “Never” expected the body to be found.

If they really didn’t want the body found why leave it out in a open field on private property, when they would know that that field would at some point be farmed.

Now I am from the west coast so over here by mid October our hay fields are already harvested and plowed in preparation for the following season. Don’t know about Virginia.

Regardless, In looking at all the maps that have been provided, isn’t there a very large National Forest in that vacinity? I would think that if these murders or murder are familiar with this area (as it appears to be the opinion of most) and “Never” wanted the body found, wouldn’t they have buried her or left her out in woods in that National Forest some where? IMHO I am kind of under the impression that Morgan’s body being found was “never” a concern. Kind of an “Above the Law” type of attitude.

was not left in the field, she ended up there.

I hope I’m not out of line here by participating in this discussion. I’m just a guy from Australia who has stumbled across Morgan”s story and have found this website. I am so saddened by What happened to Morgan and hope the perp is found soon. First I want to say, great website Blink. Thanks for all you do I think it’s wonderful. it’s great to see so many bloggers too, your insights provide interesting reading. Over the last 24 hrs I have been drawn to this story so much I’ve read many of the blogs on other websites it does amaze me though some of the theories put out there. Thanks Blink I think you just confirmd they LE believe she was throwh out of a plane or something of that nature I’m guessing. I have 2 neices who are just a few years older than Morgan so it does bring home the dangers people face.

    Good posts MsL.

I obviously can’t speak for blink but my GUESS as to what she means by the body was not left in the field is that she thinks it was left at the treeline and then washed (or less likely was moved by animals)into the field.

  15. Mom3.0 says:

    bmg, Hello and Welcome,

I just wanted to say I think Blink meant that Morgan was initially placed somewhere else on the farm, possibly hidden under the leaves and trees and she, I am assuming, with the help of nature ended up uncovered and in the field. I don’t think Blink thinks she was dropped from a plane…

    NO.

Treeline, creekbed, as I have stated numerous times. She did not move very far from her original spot, imo.

  16. bmg says:

thanks justice for your hyperlink to that Kevin guy. Started out interesting reading, but got really bizarre by the second post = I think the all the posts on that page go a little astray. the posters spend more time arguing with themselves than discussing Morgan.

So If Morgan was thrown out of a plane that would explain all the broken bones and the comments baout how hard access to the location is. It would also mean that the people the ploice are dealinh with are quite sick.

  19. Georgie says:

Ok, I haven’t commented yet on the picture of the boots because I don’t even know what to say. Why are we JUST NOW able to see what kind of boots Morgan was wearing? Those are a far cry from Doc Martins, and would no doubt draw more attention, therefore more possible witnesses. But none of the friends mentioned that she was wearing these boots, not laced-up, clunky heel, round toe boots?

It appears Morgan switched up her outfit a little bit from the one she and her mom picked out. Mom wouldn’t know this, but the friends sure as hell would, and again, it seems they kept quiet about it, like they did about so much other stuff. Unless they did come clean and LE just didn’t see the need to publish this info, and if that’s the case, things are more messed up than I originally thought.

B, “was not left in the field, she ended up there”….are you still thinking she was floated there by flood waters, or dragged by animals, or do you feel she was running from someone and she was “stopped” right there? Did she remove her boots so she could run away from this person/s?

On this day before Easter, sun is shining, flowers are popping up, grass is turning green, but we still don’t know who took this shiny girl’s life. Morgan should be celebrating with her mom, dad, and brother, but because of some sick, psychopathic POS, that will never happen again. I am reaching my last nerve with this case, there is so much silence and misinformation, it’s all I can do to keep my hopes up that this has not become a cold case.

    Happy Easter everyone.

    http://www.nampn.org/cases/hicks_jesse.html

    Details of Disappearance
Hicks was last seen on September 1, 2004 and was last heard from that same day when he called a friend from his cellphone at 1:51 pm.

Hick’s pick-up truck was found abandoned on September 5, 2004 at an unofficial park-and-ride off U.S. 29 in Nelson County, Virginia. There were no sign of foul play in the truck. Authorities searched some quarries and other areas near where the vehicle was found.

Hicks, a self-employed tractor-trailer driver, was not driving the truck the day he went missing. He left to see an unknown acquaintance in the area.

There has not been any activity on Hick’s financial accounts since his disappearance.

2007 They again searched a quarry near the border between Albemarle and Nelson counties.

I am not convinced that Hicks is not missing of his own accord.

    just clarify for us.

    1) nature moved her
    2) animal moved her
    3) Morgan still alive if barely and tried to crawl for help?

What did you mean when you said “she was not left in the field, she ended up there”? I’m a little dense today. Does this mean that he/they thought that the deed was done and he/they needed to be some place fast?

Does anyone know if anyone showed up some place outta breathe, sweating, late, maybe even on a high (as sick as that is) or outta sorts? Maybe they ran out of time and left her clinging to life but since she was so beaten and battered, she had no chance. But how would LE know this? Crime scenes tell alot but did it tell this?

I know that this may be upsetting but I must ask. And btw, I’m done with wondering about the boot confusion. Maybe it was Snead, herself, that gave the information, she was there that day, that hour that I was told to look for them. I’m with Blink, when she says it wouldn’t change the outcome but we can be looking for photos or if anyone said anything on a social networking site about some boots. go to the archives.

And remember the necklace and camera!

Blink, need to ask was Morgan heading over the bridge to the banks and 7-11 or back to JPJA? I’m asking because how do we know that she even had the necklace on unless there might be a camera shot of her.

There was confusion about the boots, why not the necklace?
Did the friends offer up the description about her wearing the necklace or someone at JPJA?

Thanks and O/T: son caught a barracuda today! Can you believe that! He wanted so badly to be called that name. Mailed a rock and a shell from paradise! Rest, Ms. Observer, Rest and Recharge!

  27. mosaic says:

Hi bmg—nope, you’re not here discussing this by yourself. A lot of us are here but are listening quietly.

While it might seem like Morgan’s body would have had to literally “fall from the sky” to get to the remote area where it was found, I do not believe that is how it got there.

For one, why drop a body onto farmland and so close to a neighborhood? Wouldn’t the point of an aerial drop be to gain access to an extremely remote area—like a rocky mountainside, someplace nobody could get to on foot?

Secondly, dropping something like a body from a plane is not a discreet action. A person would have to have access to a plane, then transport the body from a vehicle into the plane. He’d need an accomplice to fly the plane while he does the drop. And imagine the risk of having the body land in trees or on a building (the neighboring house in Blandemar Farms was less than a half mile away).

But that’s the kind of creative thinking we need. Maybe with your fresh eyes, looking at the information anew, you’ll come up with something that no one has thought of.

bmg, g’day (and happy Easter! you’re a day ahead of us, aren’t you). I think Blink addressed the plane thing earlier—possibly in this very thread—saying that no planes were over the farm—-of course, I’m not sure what time frame they were looking at flight plans, and we don’t yet know precisely when she ended up there, so who knows. But it does seem like a lot more trouble to shove her out of a plane (won’t witnesses at the small airport see something? and surely most folks are not flying on that rainy night) than to just dispatch her in some usual way.

The medical examiner will tell us if her bones were broken before or after death; might be tool marks or familiar patterns that suggest how they were broken, too. These things will come out at trial, if they ever find the bad guy.

  30. suz says:

Dear Justice, just read your comment and it freaked me out! NO-I am not that guy-I am a Mom of two sons who lives on the coast of Washington state. I just went to read his comments and am sorry mine are even slightly similar to his. My dream was just what I stated, I only had it one time, but it really bothered me.

I feel bad that I posted what I did, but it has been bothering me for so long, that I just needed to get it out. I had my dream shortly after Morgan was found and have told a couple of my family members who said I should at least put it out there, instead of holding it in, so that’s why I finally wrote it. I have only commented on BOC because I only trust this site. I, like so many people on BOC have NEVER followed any crime sites before Morgan. Her story grabbed my attention on October 18, 2009 when I first read about her disappearance. Music has always been my life and is a huge part of my family. My two sons play in a rock band and I go to all their shows! I was so sad that something might have happened to Morgan at a place where she should have been having the time of her life. I desperately kept up hope that she was alive, until the announcement came that she had been found on AF. Then what set in was a determination that I would see this to the end-until the BG/BG’s were caught and punished to the full extent of the law.

I read Blink’s site many times a day, and all I want is justice for Morgan and her sweet, amazing family, like we all do! I usually just read here, and very seldom post my thoughts. I am in amazement over the great minds on BOC! I hope that an arrest comes very soon and that Morgan’s family will feel at least some peace, knowing that the person/persons responsible for their daughters death will not ever again hurt anyone else. Until that day, I am here for the Harrington family as we all are!

the ones who let crucial information be compromised early on
in this investigation? Thus your comment “We cannot turn back
the clock”. Meaning what’s lost is lost?

I ask this, because it seems we keep asking why there has been so much misinformation, lack of communication, video or no video, lack of witness statements, and even those pesky “red herrings”. Could it just be that from the beginning “they”, whoever that was ,just screwed up “Big Time” —-Therefore Clock had to be reset Jan 26, with the finding of Morgan’s body? Ugh!!! what a terrible thought!!!

That would explain how “sometimes criminals are luckier than smart.Their luck ran out when Morgan was found, they never expected that.” Although, that hasn’t seemed to hurt them either, since they are still out there???

My hope is that they have the perp’s DNA, but it can be explained away–IE. Yes she was in my car, I gave her a ride to???, and we had consensual sex?? They just need a break in his alibi, or some forensic evidence to tie them to the actual murder. As has been said before “Somebody” knows this monster did this. Surely there must be some way for VSP to smoke this guy out without waiting for someone to turn him in, cause, so far—-not happening!

Between the two very heavy snows we had near Charlottesville this winter was a period of very heavy rain which caused a lot of secondary road erosion and some smaller bridges being washed out. Several schools were closed for a day of so because of the condition of the roads. If Morgan was buried in a tree line upstream of either of the two streams that meet near where she was found she could have been washed to the spot where she was discovered.

bmg, hi. I live in SC and was a cocktail waitress many years ago. A guy from Australia came to our town one night and after our bar closed at 2, everyone always went to this other bar that stayed open til 5 am. The Australian guy had just gotten into town and wanted to party so we asked him to go with us. For some reason we let HIM drive his rental car. I live in a VERY rural area and the road between these two bars was very hilly and curvy and the Australian guy drove it 90 miles an hour on the LEFT hand side of the road. I will NEVER forget that night! The bar we took him to had beers from all over the world, including Australia, so he had a fine time! We did not let him drive home! Sorry, I know this is off topic but that’s one of my favorite stories. Welcome to BOC.

I realize that yes weather conditions may have moved the body some, animals possibly. But in other cases, if animals were involved the remains were usually scattered. Definitely not intact.

However, the point I was trying to make is I really don’t think they cared if Morgan’s body was found. It makes no sense to leave her on private property. Property that is regularly farmed in the open areas and hunted in the more secluded areas such as the trees. If the person or persons are familiar with this location they/he would know this.

    ____________________________________________

Why? Not disclosing that probably helped them eliminate a good percentage of the people who were certain the blond haired, mini-skirt and boot wearing girl they saw was morgan. The description released said knee high black boots, which these are. That should have covered all the legitimate sightings of morgan. I bet you more than one so called witness was adamant they saw someone in lace ups once the false rumor got out, whatever the source of that was.

    Happy Easter everyone

It was 5am in the morning when I first posted (that’s the affect Morgan’s case is having on me) so it’s now a little better time ie 12.15pm on Easter Sunday. I am too a little confused as to why the photos of the boots have only just been released. I can only think that maybe they suspect they might be in the possession of somebody. I have always been concerned and still am as to why the police are so convinced that Morgan ended up on the bridge and was possibly picked up on the bridge. The fact that Morgan’s phone and purse were found in that RV parking lot makes me think whatever went down, went down there. Otherwise we are to believe that Morgan left/dropped her purse and phone, didn’t notice she had done that and then started trying to HH. I should mentioned that my thoughts do go out to the harringtons, I hope they find peace and the justice they deserve. I am impressed by how they have handled themselves.

At the gate our coolers were searched and my glass jar of mushrooms was confiscated (because of the glass). My stepchildren were mortified and the security person started passing it around saying something like “what kind of idiot brings a jar of mushrooms to a NASCAR race?” Everyone in line behind and in front of me were laughing and pointing at me. When I told my brother about it later he said, “guess you can bring in a plastic jug of moonshine but not a glass jar of mushrooms”.

I had never been a big NASCAR fan but I really enjoyed that race. It was the Coca-Cola 600. I knew that Dale Earnhardt was not very well liked in the sport, but he started something like 56th and within a couple of laps he was in 2nd. I immediately decided that I would be a Dale Earnhardt fan from then on. The next year, at Daytona, is when Dale Earnhardt had his fatal crash. Since then, my husband tries to get me to pull for certain NASCAR drivers that he dislikes but I have sworn off the sport.

I’m truly sorry everyone for being off topic. I’ve had a rough week at work and am having to work all weekend so no Easter dinner with family. They’ll save me a plate though. I just get pretty frustrated with our going over the same things over and over. Honestly, it is almost like this is the night before Halloween, we have the same questions. On the plus side, zeusrocks, I also had a dream about Morgan a long time ago and didn’t want to post it but I’m thinking now WTH? In my dream she looked fantastic (as all my loved ones who have died do in my dreams). She told me she was very happy and very busy. She had been in touch with her mom. She told me when everything came out it would all make sense. She said, “I just got stuck”. I hugged her and told her I was sorry for what had happened to her. She smiled. She truly seemed very happy. I’m sorry, I know many don’t care to hear about this sort of thing.

I need to also add one more think that has been commented on in the past. I know the harrington’s don’t want to blame anybody and want to focus on finding the indiviual(s) who did this. However I can help saying how disaapointed I am with Morgan’s friends. I have never heard of friends before willing to leave their female friend on her own at night with no mode of transport. I don’t understand why, if they were her friends, they didn’t leave the concert (even just one of them) to be with her. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t have come to the entrance to try and convince security to let her in. Surely if Morgan didn’t have her ticket with her then one of them must have had it. I don’t understand why they didn’t come to the entrance and give morgan the keys to her car, if only to sit in for safety while she waited for the concert to end. I don’t understand that if Morgan had told them she was going to find her own way home, they then waited for a substantial period at the car after the concert ended. I have been to a rock concert with my then 21 year old niece and two of her female friends – regardless of what guys one of them would be flirting with, the overidding thought would be never to let them go off alone with people they just met.

My second point is the security at the stadium. I don’t care that the “once you leave the stadium you can’t come back in” policy is the same policy across all the USA, it doesn’t make it right. It is a flawed policy and Morgan’s case is a perfect example of why it’s flawed. I can’t believe security would leave a young female to fend for herself like that without maybe going to talk to Morgan’s friends etc. What happens if it’s not morgan, but an 8 year old kid who ends up outside the stadium (kids that young can go to and do go to concerts)- do security tell the kid to go away, their not allowed back in, do security not go look for a guardian. I suppose though I fing it strange because here in OZ they just hand out passes if someone wants to leave the stadium and they have specefic entrances where only those wishing to leave the stadium can exit and then come back in with their pass – they have this policy purely because of smokers, it’s simple and doesn’t mean that someone is essentially “locked in” once they enter a concert.

If either one of those two things (the friends and the security) were handled better and to be honest more responsibly – Morgan would be alive today.

I like hearing about the dreams. Generally, I am a horrible skeptic, to the point that it frustrates me, and I rarely remember my dreams. I might get a smidge of one and then it’s gone. But I love to hear others’ dreams, in particular the ones that provide comfort. I think I am a touch envious.

I think Morgan would find this funny: Today, because of her, I have been staring at two groups of people–some who went to a death-metal and/or grindcore performance (I know there is a distinction, but I think both were repped at this little fest), and others who are at a George Strait concert. The full musical spectrum, indeed.

Happy Easter. I continue to feel that sense of renewal and hope!

I’m sorry if I’m bringing up things that have already been discussed in past posts, but because I have only just started to post in this forum I can’t help wanting to express my opinion on those issues.

I feel for Morgan, I really do feel for that kid. Morgan was doing nothing wrong, she was only 20 years old. You know what she was doing? She was living life. Doing exactly what all 20 year old do. Go out having a few drinks trying to have fun. I have no blame to Morgan for her actions that night. She was let down by bad policy and bad friends. Morgan would not and should not have expected to be the target of some cruel individual(s) when she went out that night. Her expectation and focus would have been only to have fun and enjoy herself. God I hope, I really do hope they cach these creeps.

Mary, that’s a wonderful dream to share. I wonder what she meant by “I just got stuck.” What does that mean to you?

zeusrocks, your dream is interesting, too. If someone else ran her over, how many people would be keeping this dark secret? Sounds like a lot of people would be involved, if that dream panned out.

bmg, I guess it’s a combo of the witnesses that think they saw her on the bridge, and the dogs that hit on her scent on the bridge.

hey Mary. I just read your post at 8.40pm. thanks for the story, it’s nice story and typical of an aussie. most aussies will never say no to a beer and I thought it funny when you mentioned he drove on the left side. I too have driven in the US, if only for a short ride, and my instinct was to try and drive on the left, I quickly overcame that instinct.
