    Anything in the hands of that psychopath, is a weapon. Even a tennis racquet.

  2. matthew says:

    confession from Joran?? Rumors (from cnn.com blogs and peruvian TV) state a confession was made, due to her sneaking onto his computer??

  3. Kaz says:

    I just heard from my friend in Holland that the Dutch news is reporting Joran confessed, and that he supposedly killed Stephany because of some information she found re: Natalee on his laptop? I can’t read Dutch so I don’t know if there’s any validity to that or not, but that’s what is being said over there right now.

  4. Leslee S. says:

    CNN reports Joran has confessed to murder!!!

  5. Eloise says:

    Fox just broadcasted Joran confessed. He said she logged onto his computer without his permission and saw info about NH case. I guess he then decided to kill her. If this is true, I wonder what she really saw?

  6. kyrasmommy says:

    She found out what happened to Natalee, and he had to make sure she would not talk. What makes me sick is his candor throughout his interrogation when they were checking his personal items. He was chatting with them, casually, as if he was “one of the guys”, im sure he thinks he is so charming he could win them over.
    RIP Stephany
    RIP Natalee

  7. Ragdoll says:

    Is it possible Stephany was doing her own investigating on JVS? I’m by no means a body language expert, but the way she’s carrying herself walking behind him, head hung low…… She doesn’t look like a girl who is hooking up…..or…..she’s just too trusting and naive. I’m wondering how Joran got her to his room in the first place.

    I think I’m gonna take a break on bad news for a bit. xo

    I am totally with you at posing the question. Do we know her occupation or was she still a student?

  8. Irish says:

    Eloise says: “…If this is true, I wonder what she really saw?”

    Yep, and where’s the computer now?

  9. IMOIMO says:

    That’s what I heard as well, that he confessed to killing her in a rage after he found out that she had secretly looked up information on him on his laptop. Wonder what else is on that laptop… I hope the police confiscated it and search every inch of it… How nice would it be to nab him finally for NH too? Not sure if the whole double jeopardy thing applies but if nothing else, they’ll find out he WAS responsible for NH yet serve time for Stephany.

  10. SuzeeB says:

    Eloise, maybe the answers to what happened to Natalee are on that laptop.

  11. Mrs C Hop says:

    LOL B i hope your not suggesting HIS ACTIONS had nothing to do with WHY the jurors let OJ walk?

    I would not trust his R A C I S M to not get in the way of whatever investigative skill he may have…

    I obviously do not support racism of any kind, I am certain I did not need to point that out, but I did just the same.

    I am saying a conversation about the debacle of the OJ trial, which I have never written on, consists of multiple points of failure, not just his. Did it contribute to the verdict? Yes. Should it have? NO.

    The courts of the US are filled with “in a perfect world” scenarios. Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman did not get that, unfortunately.

  12. Cat says:

    I assume this dirtball confessed due to the overwhelming amount of evidence against him, not out of the goodness of his heart. The facts that the FBI had this creep in their mits and let him out of the country is despicable in itself. The overwhelming question is, how many other women have suffered the same fate at the hand of this slime?

    I am not prepared yet to call it despicable, although I am the one that pointed out the $10K prepayment and thus the clock ticking for possible indictment. I would just like to remind everyone if Joran had not murdered Stephany, and the FBI sting worked and recovered Natalee, we would be having a parade at their tactics.

    That said, I am going to have to see one hell of a case for not arresting him prior to his departure from Aruba.
    Trying to keep an open mind here. For Now.

  13. Katie says:

    I’m thinking that she may have seen the computer, perhaps suggested he get coffee and that is when she looked at his laptop. Perhaps, he walked in on her. The coffee is a big clue. It is important to note whether either of the two cups was consumed and/or whether either or both were upright, consumed or spilled. Will be interesting to hear the details.

  14. Judi says:

    Ummm….wonder what’s on that laptop. Do police have the laptop now?

  15. TJ says:

    B, what are your thoughts on what the FBI was planning regarding Joran? Why DIDN’T they arrest him? I’m rather appalled by this chain of events. I mean, I’m not a profiler, but common sense would tell me that Joran had to feel like he was stuck in a corner…and desperate, non-crazy men do crazy things. Crazy men, like him, well, he went and killed another woman, so there’s not even a need to speculate. But if all this info is true, well, then the FBI has some explaining to do. So does Aruba, but I’ve given up on them.

  16. Starsky says:

    Blink, you okay?? Thought you would be all over the confession this morning! Hope all is well

    Thanks friend, this is an insane week #2.

    I was in court this am for a case, just got out, and our volume is tanking our server, aah

  17. Kim says:

    Interesting-
    Did he get his own lawyer yet or is he still using the Peruvian court appointed defender?
    I ask because I do not think this is going to be as easy for him in regards to the lies etc in the NH case by any means-and I know Peru isn’t playing with his stank a$$, but what he has up his sleeve with his givesy takesy admissions-Lord only knows….freakin’ Punk Der Sloot!

  18. Phyl says:

    She sent him into a murderous rage by logging on to his laptop without permission??? Do the lies ever end with this Van der creep?
    I’m not buying it. Why were her pants ripped off her body? Did she hide his flash drive in her pockets? He’s a psychopathic nut job who needs to be shelled away…forever.

  19. Mom3.0 says:

    I just read that he confessed that he killed her because she looked up info on him via the computer- while he was getting coffee for the two of them-

    I don’t think I buy that story- I will have to hear more..but that doesn’t ring true-

    He left the computer there, didnt make heraccompany him,while he so nicely goes to get coffee… and wham she has the nerve to surf the web…so he kills her?

    If there was something incriminating on the lap top why leave it or her unattended in the room? Also- why did he go out for coffee? Isn’t there room service available at that hotel?

  20. Kleat says:

    Joran is crying for Joran and mitigating damages through his statements– blame the victim, she interfered and asked questions, she slapped him, and of course, he had been smoking pot.

    Remember his lies in the past– 2 1/2 years ago this version of his confessions, probably the closest to the truth, but still not sorry, then says this was all lies too.

    “He knows exactly what happened in every detail”

  21. Kleat says:

    15 to 35 years for premeditated murder, and if the prosecutors and judge buy Joran’s ‘confession’ and mitigating statements, he could get the minimum. If he say gets 15 years, he can still earn more time off with good behaviour, two days credit for every one of good behaviour.

    He could be out in few very short years, maybe even before he’s 30.

  22. Kleat says:

    He’ll use every tactic possible not to spend one more day in Peruvian jail than he has to, will use Natalie and her family once again for his own purposes to this end and for his own gain and publicity.

    Who else has made this young ‘man’ angry? Did Natalie cause her own death because she angered him by saying ‘no’ or resisting? Why would he be so angered about being found out who he was re: the Holloway case while in Peru? He could say yes Stephanie, I was accused, I didn’t do anything to Natalie and if you aren’t comfortable here tonight in my hotel room, you can call someone to pick you up or leave? Why get angry at all if you didn’t do anything to Natalie? No reason.

  23. Pomona71 says:

    I have the same concerns as Ragdoll in her post of 6/8/2010 at 9:17
    “…Stephaney was doing her own investigating…” How did Joran get
    her to come to his room? She doesn’t look eager to get there. Who
    drove the Jeep from the Casino to the Hotel? Who had the keys to the
    Jeep? and who was carrying the $. Joran has a history of being a
    smooth liar IMO

  24. Kleat says:

    Blink, is the woman who is sitting on the hotel bed with Joran’s daddy, and seems to be arranging this interview (says ‘our lawyer in Aruba) is Joran’s mother?

    http://www.youtube.com/user/Joranblog#p/a/u/2/IzCUOeOIkb0

    Someone leaked to Natalie’s family apparently, maybe someone can translate.

  25. Mom3.0 says:

    Mark Fuhrman will have to live for the rest of his life knowing that his racist comments helped set OJ free.

    I am not sure Nicole’s family nor Ron’s family, Fred and Kim, have forgiven him or ever will.

    What I do know is that Martha Moxley’s mother, Dorthy, and her brother,John, thank Mark Fuhrman for helping to bring Martha’s killer to justice.

    I do not believe MF will ever be able to get away from his racist statements, they will never be forgotten, and they never should be. But I do believe he is trying to be the best person he can be, and I know he did do right by the Moxley’s. FWIW

  26. AC says:

    Blink- I read somewhere that Stephany worked for her brother’s event planning company.

  27. Ragdoll says:

    B, from what I’ve learned from other news sources (primarly HLN), Stephany was a business student. She also worked with her brothers who run an event planning business. IIRC, she over looked the merchandising area. If she was just trying to get something on him, she obviously wasn’t aware of how dangerous he was.

    I’m in agreement with Mom3.0. I’m not ready to buy into this ‘snooping thing’. Why were her pants removed? Joran’s default is set to ‘lie’. He can fabricate on the spot when he is put on the spot. Reading about Stephany, it is clear she had the protection of a devout loving father and 4 (I believe 4) older brothers. One of her brother’s said ‘she was the queen of her family’. That being said, it is quite possible she went with Joran believing she was simply getting to know a new friend. She grew up with positive influential male role models. She wouldn’t have learned to develop a *gift of fear*. She could have just been too trusting and naive, imo.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You are 100% correct and I agree. He is a very smart killer. He knows DAMN well that if he confesses and the murder wasn’t premeditated he won’t serve much time in prison there. What kind of sentance would the extortion charges carry here?
  31. Ragdoll says:
    Stephany Flores was a lesbian. So what on earth motivated her to go with JVS to his room?
    http://tinyurl.com/2azuyhm
    (see comment by Chris Burk)
  32. Ragdoll says:
    Stephanie Jimenez. Stephany’s g/f, gives some insight into Stephany’s mindset before her murder. She was struggling with guilt and confusion over her sexuality. Gambling was a coping skill perhaps.
    http://tinyurl.com/2vsxb6m
    If this is true, it could shed some light on Joran’s motive. I wonder if Stephany confided in him. He got her to her room and tried to have his way with her.
    Then again, Stephany took the truth to her grave. When Joran’s lips are moving, you know he’s lying.
  33. Word Girl says:
    You, know, when I review the video of JVS and his victim at the hotel, it seemed that Stephany was on an errand, an unsavory errand. She seemed conflicted, but knew what she was doing. She seemed as if she was the driver and helping someone go retrieve something from the room. As if it wouldn’t take long? She didn’t act as if she was happy to be there to hang out.
    One note: as JVS was leaving with changed shirt, backpack, and duffle, did you see the look and body language of the maid? They know all. They see all. They have opinions.
    I had the sense that Stephany pulled up in front of the hostel Tac and began to have second thoughts. It’s not her kind of place at all. She went ahead and went with him to the room. She may have dozed off. When he went for coffee, she probably did what I would have done. Check him out!!! Not necessarily because he tipped her to anything, although I think his arrogance showed when he picked up his key at the front desk. (note to non travelers: somewhat uncommon now, but many hotels require you to leave the key in hotel’s safekeeping while you are out of the room.)
    Her Gift of Fear may have been going off–albeit a little too late. I always check out new men in my life, whether acquaintances, bosses, employees, students, love interests. I run their statements through my crap-detector, then do all the internet checking they’ve availed me.
    The murder must have occurred after the coffee incident. Or did he really try to stage it hours later?
    Naw, too impulsive, too stupid, and too arrogant.
    I am so sorry Stephany got tangled in his sordid web. May she be honored with the justice to come.
    You know, you and Ragdoll, as well as other contributors here are, whether you know it or not, hitting on the point I tried to make when we broke the extortion plot, and the anniversary date.
    I am just feeling like she may have had an agenda about this guy. Like, she was way not interested in him, if you look at this goofs flikr, every pic of him with a girl they are all over each other. Not so much as a hint of that. I don’t know what it means, not yet.
    B
  34. ross says:
    OK Blink, I am still confused here. What authority would the FBI have to arrest him for extortion if he never set(s) foot in the US? Had he not been arrested for murder, and if the FBI charged him with extortion, would most countries extradite him to the US? Granted he may have broke US laws, but not the laws of the country he was in; how does that work? Had the FBI issued a warrant, would it have amounted to anything other than a small nuisance to him?
    One other question – how is what he did any different from calling up the USAToday, and saying, give me $250,000 and I’ll tell you what happened to Natalee? Is it because he tried to get (and got some) money from a US government entity?
    Not being snarky, no one seems to be able to give me an answer to those questions.
  35. Sue says:
    Maybe Stephany went to his room to smoke some pot or maybe Joran said he had something to show her that she was interested in. It certainly didn’t appear that they were going to the room for sex. No flirtation, no sexy walk or talk. Just going there to “chill” for a while. JMO
  36. Word Girl says:
    Stephany’s motive for going to the hotel room may have been reimbursement for money borrowed.
    Poker players have online accounts and can transfer from one to another to provide money for another tournament or casino play. They are free to move money to other people’s accounts, as in Paypal.
    Apparently, Stephany had been at table with Joran and his friend, E.Garcia, earlier in the week. Garcia was staying at the Tac, as well, and began to wonder what had happened to the two of them. With a pre-paid room and instructions not to enter, Housekeeping would have been glad for the relief. Only when Garcia questioned the whereabouts did HK or management finally enter. (acc to Talkleft and various sources, as well as my knowledge of running the back of the House.)
    JVS may have been engaging enough for her to agree to go to the Tac. She apparently left her purse (I’m guessing a slim, cross-body bag) in the Jeep. Why not? She’d be returning soon enough. Perhaps the wire transfer was taking a while–he was showing her his stats at other tourneys and looking at others still to come, in the meantime. Then the “gawd, I need some coffee” moment arrived and she took the opportunity to do some internet research on him. I DO NOT think she would have been in his private files, but may have been taking some time to read the wealth of articles surrounding Natalie Holloway.
    “What’s this thing about Natalie Holloway?” might have been the straw that broke her precious neck.
    Those who know me here, know that I don’t usually indulge in ‘scenario writing’ but I am at a quandry about why she put herself in harm’s way and am trying to think while I speak. I hope you all will grant me that. WG
  37. Kleat says:
    Isn’t it strange that there is video of the two entering the hotel, past the desk then into the room, then Joran leaving with his bag and different clothing on.
    But there is no video of him leaving to get the coffee and bread, and no video showing his return, each time past at least two cameras. Time on that coffee trip would be key to what that was all about, including what Joran was wearing.
    And WHY was Stephany without jeans on, IF she was about to face Joran with the computer info? Did Joran do that after the fact, remove the jeans, to make it look like someone else came in and the murder happened. Or was he thinking of rape as part of the assault, but then she died, (unexpectedly of course, he would never ‘want to do it’).
    Why do we believe anything in his confession, except that maybe he did it and his lawyer is telling him the best case scenario facts to get a lighter sentence?
  38. ross says:
    I think this answered my questions.
    http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/08/us.van.der.sloot.alabama/index.html?eref=igoogle_cnn
    “In exchange, van der Sloot showed the representative a house where supposedly Holloway’s remains were, according to the document. When records showed that the house wasn’t even built at the time of her disappearance, van der Sloot admitted that he lied, Interpol said.”
    Is it only extortion because he didn’t follow through?
    Ross, I answered your question thank you.
    Only extortion as opposed to what? That is not a full question and I do not want to put words in your mouth.
    Assuming your referring to a murder charge, that has been answered a few times today.
    Under Aruban law, it must be proven a death occurred. Regardless of the 50 confessions he has made.
    B
  39. Kleat says:
    And investigation of the computer hard drive for who searched for what and when– could have been Joran himself, making up this excuse for the assault as ‘her fault’.
  40. Kleat says:
    One expert said that neck-breaking is something someone needs to know how to do and have the strength to do it. Casey did the searches online for the same technique, were there places online that psychopaths go to learn about these things, and did he have some knowledge of ‘how to’, from his own experiences and online searching in the past?
    Two woman from Columbia went missing during the time Joran was supposedly in Columbia, was he on a mission on this trip?
  41. Kleat says:
    ross, he DID follow through, he arranged for money in payment for information, got some cash, then a wire of money to his account– that’s the wire fraud. Doesn’t matter if he gave good info or not, it was extortion for money.
  42. Kleat says:
    Blink, but psychopaths are supposed to be able to manipulate people well, he saw this young woman who was winning at the table, maybe he knew she was the daughter of a well-known or maybe wealthy Peruvian business person/political candidate, he could have had a story for her, that would cause her to follow him to his room. Promises of something, could have been anything that he would figure worked. Maybe a business proposition of some sort, something to do with poker techniques or play– a lure. It’s strange yes, and obviously wasn’t for sex on her part, maybe he hates women and hates loosing to a woman.
    Sociopaths, yes. We are of like mind on this one, I think there is more to it, perhaps scheduling him for an event of sorts?
    B
  43. Starsky says:
    I knew it was coming! Fox news reports an attorney indicates confession most likely coerced and that Joram spoke to his mother telling her he has been interrogated under barbaric conditions
  44. Leslee S. says:
    Stephany, in the video, certainly did not appear as though she had been partying with Juran & that they were going to continue the party in his room. But, they were talking & playing at the same table at the casino. Has anyone brought up that, just possibly, Juran had borrowed some money from her at the casino (he was losing that night, I read) & told her to come to his room & he would get the money to repay her? I’ve looked at the video so many times but it suddenly occurred to me Stephany looks as though she needs to get her money but has misgivings about going into this young man’s room. The misgiving could be as simple as how her father would not approve of her going into a male’s hotel room or something. That might explain why she would keep her head down & the slight glance toward the hotel desk. Let’s face it, a sociopath/psychopath can charm the horns off a billy goat.
    Now, Stephany is a lesbian, we’ve heard, so she was not going to have sex with Juran. And I heard tonight (NG?) that she was having her period, also. I’m afraid I have not read the confession yet, but did Juran say that she followed him to his room for sex? Of course, she is found undressed, below the waist, except for her red panties.
    Now, about Juran’s story that she invaded his privacy by finding her on his laptop, looking at his connection with Natalie….bull! That guy has not ever worried about that connection. Heck, just how many times has he tormented Natalie’s family & announced to the world his involvement with her??? NOPE, this monster lured Stephany to his room for sex (& she tried to stop him). BUT, his number one goal was to rob her! He knew what she won & he has become very desparate for money, according to his friends. OKAY, that’s my story & I am sticking to it!!!
  45. Leslee S. says:
    Word Girl:
    LOL, you got your post in before I did. That’s weird that we were pratically posting the same thing! I was too slow!
  46. Leslee S. says:
    Kleat;
    With those injuries, I don’t think that an ‘unexpected’ death would cross Juran’s mind.
    And Juran, imo, makes up this confession to make the authorities believe that it was not a robbery & that it was not PRE-MEDITATED, which would bring a stiffer sentence.
    Could someone just shoot him???
  47. Leslee S. says:
    Word Girl says:
    You have truly spooked me with our ‘almost’ exact post!!! I keep looking over my shoulder! LOL
